Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate good and bad feedback as this can show if we have left any gaps in our communication. A couple of things I would like to address. 1. Socials. This camp is sold as a tennis-only camp so we do not have any social events organised afterwards. In Cambridge, we run a full residential camp where we organise social events each evening. 2. The changing rooms - these are in the main building and are modern and new. I am guessing that the reference to the changing rooms is in the old clubhouse which are not intended for player use as they are used for storage by the University tennis team. The new changing rooms also have new toilets but I realise they are a short distance to walk for players. I will add this information into the welcome pack so in future clients are aware of their location. Thank you again for your feedback.

“Amazing time in NYC!”

Hello Chris: Well we made it to the W hotel. We went to two Open tennis match"s. It was great, We saw Federer, Serena, Wawrinka, Goffin etc. Overjoyed! The 911 experience was well worth the price of admission and so was seeing the Statue of Liberty. We also went and seen To Kill A Mockingbird, starring Jeff Daniels off-Broadway. Hands down the best stage play I have ever seen. We even went to Central Park and saw where John and Yoko Lived. Also the memorial. Thanks for all the help, I was a little stressed. “Incredible time in Rome!”

Chris, We had a great time at the tournament yesterday. We saw Fed, Nadal, and Djokovic play in one day! The hotel is really nice and close to everything! It was a once in a lifetime experience -- great seats, great weather, and all the arrangements worked well. Yes, even if you're travelling alone there are plenty of people and players to meet. Groups included in the itinerary will allow you to meet like-minded players of a similar tennis standard as you, Beginner-Advanced+. Wickwoods is a friendly and relaxed social environment.

There are socials and sessions available for all standards, Beginner through to Advanced+. We will create your bespoke itinerary with your standard and preference in mind, and if required this can be adjusted further once you're here.

All our tennis coaches have outstanding reputations, delivering top coaching. Coaching in international levels as well as locally, they have up to date recognised qualifications (e.g. the Lawn Tennis Association, the Professional Tennis Registry). See all our coaches here .

Monday-Friday is best as the tennis programme has more to offer. However, we can offer tennis breaks during the weekend (subject to availability). Please note we have very limited availability on Saturday nights.

Yes. You have full use of the pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, gym, exercise classes and, of course, the tennis courts.

Treatments are available at extra cost subject to booking. Places are limited so we strongly advise you to book early to avoid any disappointment.

The club bar opens at 7am and serves breakfast from 7:30am through to 11:00am. Our club menu is available from 10am through to 9:30pm and our bar is open until 11pm. We also offer room service.

The Glass House Restaurant is open Monday - Saturday from 12-3pm and 6-9pm. On Sundays it is open from 12-6pm.

The region’s star attraction from a historical perspective is undoubtedly the burial mounds at Borre.

This monumental cemetery, dating from the late Iron Age to the Viking Age, includes several large burial mounds and stone settings. The site is believed to have been a royal burial ground, reflecting the power and influence of the local chieftains and kings who ruled the region.

Borre is the most significant Viking Age burial site in Scandinavia.

Archaeological excavations have uncovered a wealth of artifacts, including ornate jewelry, weapons, and tools, providing invaluable insights into Viking craftsmanship, social hierarchy, and burial practices.

Recent discoveries include buried hall buildings, a potential prehistoric harbor, and what is believed to be a Viking-era ship burial. These findings, uncovered through advanced ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technology, continue to reveal insights into the site's historical significance.

Today, the mounds form part of the Borre National Park, which features walking trails and informative plaques, allowing visitors to explore and learn about the historical significance of the area.

Midgard Viking Center

Such is the historical importance of Borre, it was the obvious place to host the Midgard Viking Center , an interactive museum dedicated to the Viking Age.

It features exhibitions on Viking history, culture, and daily life. The center also includes a reconstruction of a Viking feast hall.

From early July to early August, the center hosts ‘Viking Summer,’ a family-friendly ‘living history’ event where a Viking Age village comes to life outside. Participants teach visitors about their own crafts, equipment, and goods. The center places a strong emphasis on authenticity, so it’s a great way for all the family to learn about the era.

Held at the height of summer, Midgard Viking Festival takes things up a notch. Expect a full Viking Age atmosphere across three days, including traders, warriors, craftsmen and musicians.

Viking Ships In Tønsberg

The Klåstad merchant ship, discovered in 1893 and excavated in 1970, is a shipwreck rather than a burial. Its remains play a starring role at Tønsberg’s Slottsfjell Museum . The exhibition delves into the story of trade, societal development, and innovation during the Viking Age.

A replica of the ship, named Saga Farmann , was built by the Oseberg Viking Heritage Foundation and launched in 2018.

'Saga Farmann' visited Istanbul in 2023 to recreate a historic Viking Age trading route.

Due to the desire to take the replica on longer journeys, the team chose to fit the vessel with a modern, electric-powered motor. In 2023, Saga Farmann set sail from Tønsberg to Istanbul in order to recreate a historic trading route.

Project manager Lars Bill told Science Norway that Vikings were great innovators: “There doesn’t need to be any conflict between the new and the old as long as you have respect.”

The museum also touches on the story of the Oseberg ship, which was discovered in a burial mound just a few miles from Tønsberg.

In Tønsberg’s harbor, Saga Oseberg is a full-scale replica of the Oseberg ship, built from 2010 to 2012 only using Viking Age tools and techniques. During high season, skilled guides are often on hand Thursdays to Saturdays, to share their shipbuilding knowledge.

More Viking Excitement In Sandefjord

Sandefjord is the closest town to Gokstadhaugen, the burial mound in which the world-famous Gokstad ship was discovered in 1879.

Today, the waterfront Sandefjord Viking Park is the location for Viking Age crafts, including the construction of a replica of the Gokstad ship. Generally, there is activity here from Wednesdays to Saturdays.
