steve vai uk tour 2022

The itinerary will stretch in to mid-July, staging performances in the U.K., Ireland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain.

Steve Vai’s North American performances supporting the new album will start on September 28 at The Magnolia in El Cajon, CA. The final show is planned for his hometown of Los Angeles, at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on December 3.  For tickets and a variety of EVO Experience VIP bundles available visit  https://www.vai.com .  Vai will be joined by his long-tenured ensemble members Dave Weiner (guitar / keys), Philip Bynoe (bass), and Jeremy Colson (drums).  Vai shares, “It’s amazing to realize that after three years of not performing our show on a stage, that it’s now on the horizon, and will start to unfold in Europe this summer.

I can feel the road now and the enthusiastic audiences that we will be connecting with.” Vai shares, “The idea for this guitar and track came to me roughly seven years ago.

I envisioned composing and performing a piece of music on a multi-neck instrument where all of the sound emanated from that one creation with the exception of some keyboards and drums.  I sent my ideas to Ibanez, and their builders delivered this astonishing wooden creature.

I was stunned.  It was awesome.  When I first laid eyes on it, I named it the Hydra, and instantly knew the name of the song would be ‘Teeth of the Hydra.’  A Hydra is a dragon-like creature from Greek mythology possessing various heads.  For every head chopped off, two would grow in its place.

I then set out to write a piece of music that utilized all the features of the Hydra, but could also stand on its own as an enjoyable composition with a sultry melody and heavy dynamics.”

He continues, “When I finally sat with the Hydra and started to contemplate writing this piece and how I was to navigate the instrument in a seamless way, for a moment it seemed impossible.  I just started slowly, and it all began to unfold very naturally.

Things that can seem impossible don’t seem so impossible once you just start doing them.  Every new discovery and accomplishment were treated as a joyous victory, even if it only involved figuring out one bar of music.

The overall inner vision was the guide through the process, but with every accomplishment, the process became more and more addictive.  I became immersed in the splendors of the Hydra.

It was a meditative experience, and on the day that it all finally clicked, performing the song felt like stillness in motion—that’s when the performance becomes virtually effortless, and the freedom of present-moment expression has you feeling as if your feet are about a foot off the ground.

The exhilaration can be overwhelming at times.  I’m very happy with the way the video came out, and having BJ McDonnell as director, along with his amazing crew, was vital. Enjoy!” The performance clip was directed by BJ McDonnell, and produced by John Heller and Jason Salzman. The Director of Photography was Eric Leach, with art direction by Michael Mesker. Greg Wurth was the Sound Engineer and Assistant Editor. Vai’s new studio album  Inviolate  debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Current Hard Rock Albums chart. Cumulative streams exceed 5 million, with “Teeth Of The Hydra” accounting for more than one million.

Steve Vai announces massive European tour

Recovery from pizza injury complete, Steve Vai will kick off his Inviolate world tour in Europe in June, with US dates following from September

Steve Vai

Guitar wizz Steve Vai has announced that his Inviolate world tour will now commence in Europe  this summer. The run of dates kicks off in Glasgow on June 5, and will climax in Barcelona on July 19.

After a month's break, the show will then go back on the road in late September for the already-announced US leg of the tour. Full dates below.

“It’s amazing to realise that after three years of not performing our show on a stage, that it’s now on the horizon, and will start to unfold in Europe this summer," says Vai. "I can feel the road now and the enthusiastic audiences that we will be will be connecting with."

The US shows were originally scheduled to be the first of the tour, but Vai postponed the dates last month to give himself time to recuperate from surgery after tearing a tendon while making pizza .

“I’m gutted that we have to move this tour," said Vai at the time, "but I also know it’s in the best interests for us and the fans that we do.”

Steve Vai's Involiate album was released in January.

Gig review: STEVE VAI – London Palladium, 7 June 2022

Share the post "Gig review: STEVE VAI – London Palladium, 7 June 2022"

STEVE VAI - Manchester Ritz, 5 June 2022

Let’s just start by saying one thing: Steve Vai isn’t of this world. Throughout his long and varied career, the six-stringer has displayed the sort of skills that are beyond the comprehension of most mere mortals.

From his time with Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, Dave Lee Roth and Whitesnake, through to his ever-impressive solo career, the ever searching and morphing Vai has had a spiritual and at times, alien air, his passion for playing something very few equal.

Such a unique talent demands to be seen in a live setting and those who poured into the fabled halls of the London Palladium were a mix of the devotees and the curious, all here to be entertained royally. This was a night to get truly lost in music and Vai was the perfect captain for this cosmic flight.

STEVE VAI - Manchester Ritz, 5 June 2022

Tall, thin and seemingly ageless, a relaxed and happy Vai strode onto the stage and accompanied by Philip Bynoe on bass, drummer Jeremy Colson and keys/guitar player Dave Weiner, launched into a propulsive ‘Avalanche’, the mix of rock and jazz accompanied by some breath-taking fretwork.

Barely pausing for breath, the massive riffs of the heavy duty ‘Giant Balls of Gold’ steamrollered the audience before the laid back Eastern psychedelia of ‘Little Pretty’ and ‘Tender Surrender’, with its bluesy feel brought a soothing balm.

Bynoe and Colson got to have a lot of fun trading licks with the guitarist during the skittering and melodic ‘Lights Are On’ and the duel between Vai and Weiner showed the latter has some mighty chops too.

STEVE VAI - Manchester Ritz, 5 June 2022

A delicious ‘Candle Power’ was a stripped back and freeform delight, Vai finger picking the strings before he gracefully bowed out, leaving Weiner to take his own turn in the spotlight. Closing this section of the show, ‘Building The Church’ was a display of big guns, finger tapping intro onwards and the obvious enjoyment being had onstage was utterly infectious, the band seemingly vibing off the audience as much as they were the music.

Opening the second set with the beautiful and smouldering, yet brilliantly off kilter, ‘Greenish Blues’ was a masterstroke, its slow building charm letting the audience warm slowly again into this latter half.

STEVE VAI - Manchester Ritz, 5 June 2022

Turning things on their head, ‘Bad Horsie’ ramps up the dark drama, its heavy and crawling crunch snaking out from the stage like a wave before ‘I’m Becoming’ turns the Palladium back into a sonic cathedral of contemplation. This was just a warm up though for the soaring majesty of a sublime take on ‘Whispering a Prayer’, Vai’s delicate playing full of soul and the brief section that sounded like something from ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ wonderfully playful.

Following Weiner strapping on a twelve-string acoustic for a sparkling ‘Dyin’ Day’ and a brief but imaginative drum solo from Colson, it was time to end the show with a hat trick of big hitters, starting with the epic scope of ‘Zeus in Chains’.

Cinematic in ambition and delivery, this let the band really cut loose, the swing they brought into it a heady mixture with its big themes and passions. Closing, the brief and elegant overture of ‘Liberty’ heralds the only thing that could have truly finished the set in the form of ‘For the Love of God’, still as jaw droppingly massive as ever, in itself a mini opera that dances with the elegance of Fred Astaire and weaves like Muhammad Ali.

STEVE VAI - Manchester Ritz, 5 June 2022

Finally returning to the stage with the huge power and fiery fretwork of ‘Fire Garden Suite IV – Taurus Bulba’, it was game set and match to Vai, the connection complete between audience and performer. If any had been sitting on the fence prior to the evening, it can be assured that those leaving this most famous of venues were all converts to the cause, no one person left untouched by what they’d seen unfold before them.

With two of his musical heroes, Jeff Beck and Brian May also in the capital recently, the latter’s multi night residency at the O2 ongoing presently, this couldn’t have been a better time to enjoy some of the finest guitarists in the world and Vai has certainly earned his place amongst those greats.

He may be part spiritual being and part alien from another dimension, but Steve Vai is certainly, first and foremost, a man who loves music and never ceases to amaze. Long may his otherworldly star shine.

Live music, reviews and opinion / est. 2018, steve vai – the o2 ritz, manchester: live review.

Steve Vai – The O2 Ritz, Manchester – 5th June 2022

Steve Vai returned to the stage after a three plus year absence. Touring in support of his latest LP, Inviolate, Vai wowed the crowd in Manchester with his unique and uncompromising compositions.

steve vai

Taking the stage in amongst galactic visuals and cracks of thunder, Vai and his band crashed into Avalancha from Inviolate. With a guitar lit up by its fret board, the track drives hard at breakneck pace. It’s a stunning opener that sets out the stall for the evening. More cuts from Inviolate make up the set; Teeth Of The Hydra and Zeus In Chains both deliver stand their ground mixed in with older pieces of music.

As Vai stalked the stage from left to right, it is evident that fun is high on the agenda as every member of the four piece plays with such delight on their face. And as far as facial expressions go, Vai does his talking with his. Each solo flourish, lick or note is accompanied by an animated expression; he doesn’t need a microphone to tell you how he is feeling.

Whilst the delight is clear and obvious in those expressions, Vai does the take the mic for several thank yous during the evening. The crowd respond in unifying elation. “ What’s going on in here tonight?! ” says Vai under the spotlight. “ This our second gig in 3 and a half years ,” continues Vai. He shares his joy at being backstage for the food (pizza) and drink and bathrooms. “I ’ve put this butt on more toilet seats than anyone, ” he jokes before talking of being 62 in the morning (Happy Birthday, Steve!). What is most cutting are his words about being independent, being the boss, and sharing that no one can derail you when you know what you want to do – that’s freedom. Prophetic words.

Band introductions follow, and what a band it is. Long time touring companion, Dave Weiner, assists on guitar and keys. Their chemistry together is clear to see. They duel on Lights Are On with growing exuberance, and Weiner wows in his own solo slot later in the set.

With any backing band, chemistry is key. Philip Bynoe shakes the foundation of the Ritz with his dynamic work on the bass, and Jeremy Colson completes a stellar rhythm section on the drums. Both have their moments to shine on their own with Vai offering props to both. It is their power that propels many of the songs into orbit.

When the four members come together, they are as heavy a unit as you will ever see. Building The Church, with its mind bending intro, is thoroughly heavy. Add the chunky and chugging Bad Horsie in with this tag as well. In amongst the fury of the rhythm section, Vai exploits his guitar for all its worth – it is a mesmerising sight.

steve vai

For all the bombast and bluster, there are plenty of more serene moments. The classic Tender Surrender is greeted like an old friend by the crowd and new cut, Greenish Blues, is superbly delivered. There is a reverence in most quarters of the crowd as the quieter aspects of the songs are soaked up. I’m Becoming is a harmonic dream and the emphatic blues of For The Love Of God, which closes out the main set, all enchant the crowd. To watch Steve Vai play these songs is a real privilege – he is an almost trance like state during For The Love Of God.

A nice surprise in the set is Dyin’ Day – a song that Vai declares they have never played live before (aside from the night before in Glasgow). The acoustic led intro gives the song a real classic rock feel before Vai again shreds his way through various blistering solos. Such is the heat in the venue, the song is abandoned and restarted; “ I forgot how slippery and wet it gets on stage ,” claims Vai as he confesses to the botched opening.

As the band returned for a one song encore of Fire Garden Suite IV – Taurus Bulba, it was clear to see the joy all around the Ritz once again as the band departed. Steve Vai’s new album, Inviolate, is a brilliant record, and upon witnessing a lot of it live, it is only going to grow and grow as one of his many fine works.

Steve Vai is a guitarist and songwriter hailing from Carle Place, New York, U.S who was born on June 6th 1960. Since his debut in 1978 he has become one of the most succesful and famous virtuoso guitarists in the world, and has released eight studio albums since 1984.

Incredibly enough, Steve Vai only started playing guitar at the age of 13 years old. This is practically ancient compared to most virtuoso instrumentalists, as most of them are childhood prodigies who received lessons before they could walk. Not for Vai, he just picked up the guitar in 1973 and after some lessons from Joe Satriani himself, he was leading his own band, fittingly named The Steve Vais. After only five years of playing the instrument, he was accepted into the Berklee College of Music, but dropped out early as he had secured a job performing with Frank Zappa.

Vai had sent a transcription of a Zappa guitar solo to the man himself and Zappa was so impressed with the results that he employed the to transcribe a number of his guitar parts. This eventually lead to Vai joining Zappa’s band The Mothers of Invention, where Vai’s sheer skill was so overpowering that Zappa credited him in his album linear notes as playing “stunt guitar”. Vai first went on tour with Zappa in 1980, and stayed for two years before leaving for Los Angeles, California to focus on his solo career.

His debut solo album was released in 1984, and while it wasn’t a huge success it did secure him a spot in the heavy metal band Alcatrazz, filling in the lead guitarist spot that some no-hoper called Yngwie Malmsteen vacated. It was his time in the band that secured him the spot that would hurl him into the public spotlight, playing lead guitar in Diamond David Lee Roth’s new band. His first album with The David Lee Roth Band was released in 1986, sold over 2 million copies and set Vai up as the next Eddie Van Halen in the eyes of many, many people.

Ever since leaving the David Lee Roth band in 1989, Vai has worked as a journeyman guitarist and a solo artist in his own right. He’s enjoyed successful stints in bands like Whitesnake and Public Image LTD while also having hit solo records like 1993’s “Sex And Religion” and 1999’s “The Ultra Zone”. He remains an inspiration to multiple generations of guitarists the world over, and still comes highly recommended.

Live reviews

Steve Vai’s adept skills at playing carefully, crafted scales on the guitar at rapid speeds and using intricate techniques to perform his methods truly puts him in a league of his own in the world of guitar virtuosos. It is no joke that Steve Vai is a master at his instrument able to play various styles of music, having toured with the likes of Frank Zappa, Public Image Ltd., David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. He has also been recognized by critics for his great works, having already won three Grammy awards. He has regularly toured with the G3 concert tour, which is a musical showcase designed by his contemporary, Joe Satriani, in which Joe Satriani and two other well renowned and talented guitarists perform their music individually as well as in a group.

During live performances Steve Vai is usually backed by musicians that are recognized as the best on their instruments. He often engages in guitar duels during his performances where various members of his band playfully take turns soloing on either the bass or the guitar to see who can perform the best. It is no doubt that Steve Vai wins every time. One of the most interesting parts of a Steve Vai show is all of the different types of guitars he plays throughout the performance. During some parts of the show he plays a triple-neck guitar, where he performs on multiple necks at the same time. Steve Vai often plays in a quirky, angular style and often incorporates bizarre rhythms into his music. Steve Vai also has a very captivating stage presence, wearing bizarre clothing such as black robes and having blasts of wind blow at him while on stage, which lets his hair look like it is blowing in the wind while shredding on his guitar.

Steve Vai remains at the top of his class for a reason. A chance to see him live should not be missed to let him prove his talents with his lightening fast guitar shredding, and high-energy performance.

good day ! generation axe in toronto at maseyhall may 4 2016 is a mixed review for me.this 3 hour set is a little too too much of the same sounding guitar solos, but then again that is what you bought your ticket for right" maybe not.this rhythm section is far from good.playing one or 2 note bass lines being used most of the nite were simple jams going on for ever and ever with little or no melodic tone changes to match the lead solo changes..then to make things worse the bass lines were usually and quite simply out of tune with the rip roaring guitar solos making the entire jam sets sound disonent and are musically out of tune most of the night!also cover songs were almost unrecognizable due to guitars and bass/keys as well playing out of key each other and with the actual song progressions.none the less all steve vai sets were great and in key with the band. he was extremly happy on stage and totally makes up for this bands tour.vai had so much fun and it was a pleasure to watch him having such a blast on stage playing with so much confidence,is truly not to be missed this time around. 5 thumbs up for steve vai 4 thumbs up for the other guitar gods and 5 thumbs down for the tacky rhythm section.p,s, there was no stanley clark or edger winter etc. as stated on the tour web site at the toronto gig.

I have seen many excellent guitarists live, but whilst my favourite ones (Slash, Clapton) base their playing on blues licks, Steve Vai's sheer technical ability blew me away. I really haven't seen anything quite like it. On that front there is no one better, not even Joe Satriani or Eddie Van Halen. And it's still infused with emotion.

This is no longer a rock concert, but a magic show, a piece of performance art. The sounds he conjures out of his guitar are out of this world, in fact, sometimes not dissimilar to Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, whilst within the context of his songs, it still makes complete sense. You see his fingers move, but it's entirely unclear how he gets his guitar to do what it does. At the same time, the music is funky, heavy and beautiful at the same time.

Plus, it's great fun. There is a great rapport with his audience and he gets some of them on stage to 'compose' a song with him and his exceptional band on the spot.

His most famous album, Passion and Warfare, which he played in its entirety, is one of the most iconic instrumental guitar albums ever. If you like melodic guitar music and are interested in seeing a real musician at the top of his game, go and see him. You won't be disappointed.

Saw the Wednesday show in Ottawa. The venue was the theatre at Algonquin. Great venue for shows like this.

Overall show was 7.5 out of 10. Loved the simplicity of it all. Also enjoyed the latest guys & the use of the film screen. Although some parts were over scripted in the fake dialogue with Satriani for example.

The main reason why I didn't rate it higher though was the sound mix was off for the first half. The bass was way to high. It was crunching & taking away from the other guitarists with the bass dominance.

They fixed it for the second half and my head & ears were able to enjoy the show properly. Not sure why it took an entire first half to turn it down though.

Steve comes through as an approachable down to earth yet fully L.A style of person. Just doing what he loves in nice small venues like the 800 or so that the venue held that night.

Overall,I love these types of shows. Intimate & close to the artist. If the sound had been better from the start I would of rated it 8.5.

Must add that I loved that Zappa part big time.

Also must add that a couple people commented that it was the most women they had ever seen at a Vai concert. Lol.

Thanks Steve!

Sometimes when watching guitarist Steve Vai perform live you have moments of almost coming out of your body and looking at the situation whilst thinking 'how can a human really play an instrument that fast and that precise?!'. The reason you feel as though you are almost beside yourself is when you are actually within the venue, your whole attention is solely focused on the man and his guitar.

There is slight feelings of tension occasionally as when he plays to such speeds you imagine he is likely to make a mistake at any moment. However those who know the New Yorker's live show well will know there is more chance of the pope turning up to cover Dolly Parton than Steve actually missing a note all evening. Along with expert instrumental skill, the man also demonstrates the very finest selection of his long discography that currently stands at eight studio albums. 'Treasure Island' and new track 'Gravity Storm' are personal favourites whilst the whole room seems to be in universal agreement 'For the Love of God' from 'Passion & Warfare' is the best performance of the night.

I've seen Steve Vai on 7 ocassions now and this gig was the best of the lot.

Passion and warfare is Steve's best album so hearing the full album live was special.

His banter and audience participation is also a nice break to an instrumental set and also the addition of the big screen with appearences from Joe Satriani and Co was certainly different.

All in all the gig was mind blowing with Steve and the band at there very best. 10/10, it was faultless.

Having seen Vai before I knew what to expect, I enjoyed this show above all others, the video jams were great, and the zappa song was heavy. Also the entire CD was performed (Passion & Warfare) incredible. Highly recomended.

Amazing opening. Superb end. Whatever happened in between was very Stevish. His interactions with crowd was fun. Promising crowd an amazing show is one thing, delivering more than that is another. He is one of the best.

Excellent show, even if having the audience participate in building a song failed pretty horribly :-)

Hearing Passion and Warfare performer was just perfect, and Mr. Vai himself is a master of showmanship.

Remembering 2022 – Steve Vai // Inviolate Tour 2022 // Live Review // The Limelight 1 // Belfast

steve vai uk tour 2022

What can you say about Steve Vai that hasn’t already been said, I personally have been a huge fan from his earliest days. I stumbled across him courtesy of my cousins in Dublin who were listening to Dave Lee Roth’s ‘Eat Em & Smile’ album, Diamond Dave’s debut after leaving Van Halen. Dave wisely assembled some of the best musicians of the day, Greg Bissonette on drums, Billy Sheehan on Bass and a very young Steve Vai on guitar #mindblown

What started as a musical love affair of sorts and the beginning of a musical journey that allowed this little lady to be raised by four of the greatest guitarists in rock and metal of that time, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert. Hence why my musical taste is no fubar! I just loved guitar instrumental music and these four guys filled my life with so much joy as a grumpy, spotty teenager living in Belfast and dreaming of one day reaching the dizzy heights of their guitar playing myself one day. Sadly, we are still waiting! But, Vai, Satch, Yngwie & Paul have never looked back and still to this very day mesmerise just as they did three-plus decades ago. Vai also, is one of the reasons I am here this evening photographing this show, as mentioned in a recent review when I showed Queen + Adam Lambert at the SSE in Belfast a few weeks back, Queen Live Killers made me fall in love with everything about the live music scene, the imagery, the lifestyle they sold and the dream’s they encouraged, the last time I saw Vai play I believe was 2013 here in Belfast at the old Mandela Hall, Queen University Students Union venue, and right there, right then when I saw guys walking into the pit to shoot Vai I was raging! How did they get access, and more importantly HOW DO I???

Fast forward 9 years and As it turns out, years of graft and honing your skills as a photographer and I’m here! Anywho, Steve also has been working hard, and through the toughest years for many a musician, we’re now finally post-pandemic and back in venues supporting our favourite artists once again. Steve recently dropped his latest beauty of a recording Inviolate courtesy of Favored Nations/Mascot Label Group. This album like many Steve has released really pushed boundaries, with time on his hands due to the pandemic, Vai went to another level as far as technicality. We got snippets via videos from Steve over the time of the release with tracks like ‘Knapsack’ when Steve had his arm in a sling due to some minor surgery carried out while off the road, played with one hand for all to scratch our heads to. ‘Sitting Pretty’ with its yoga-esque finger bends that had the Internet in a spin and of course ‘The Hydra’ Steve playing a three-neck guitar simultaneously which incorporates bass, fretless bass/guitar and begin it’s just mind-boggling. So with all that in mind, what would Vai bring to his live show for the Inviolate Tour 2022?

Good news, all of the above really, If you were coming to hear all the old classic’s you’ll not be disappointed but they are far and few on the ground, you’ll hear the sublime ‘Tender Surrender’, ‘Bad Horsie’ and ‘For The Love Of God’ and that in itself is a religious experience to witness Vai do that live, but the set is mostly comprised with his latest album and that is truly something to behold. ‘Zeus In Chains’, ‘Avalancha’ ‘Little Pretty’, ‘Greenish Blues’ and ‘Candle Power’ all feature alongside older tracks and solos from individual band members who equally deserve a mention, stellar musicians who just absolutely slay it live, Dave Weiner on guitar, Philip Bynoe on Bass, and Jeremy Colson on drums, these guys were majestic. The sound was sublime, Vai’s guitars resonate across the room and each and every solo and glorious touch of that Wah just cuts like a knife! For any Vai fan this was an absolutely magical experience, catching your guitar hero up close and personal in a relatively sized intimate venue it is a beautiful thing. Great sound, great music and the master himself in fine form and is truly appreciative for all those who are back out supporting him and live music once again after a crazy few years.

Till next time Steve let’s not leave it so long.

Steve Vai announces enormous 54-date US tour

The virtuoso is set to kick off the mammoth trek in January 2022

Steve Vai

Steve Vai has announced a sprawling tour of the US in 2022. The run is set to be the first of many that will make up the virtuoso's forthcoming Inviolate World Tour.

Commencing at the House of Blues in Las Vegas on January 27, the US run is set to comprise a whopping 54 dates, before wrapping up at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on April 2.

Vai will be joined by his long-tenured backing band, which comprises guitarist Dave Weiner, bassist Philip Bynoe and drummer Jeremy Colson.

“A performer thrives on performing,” Vai says of the tour. “it's been my life for the past 49 years, with the exception of the last two years, so we are champing at the bit to get out there and play for people. A music concert has the ability to dissolve the many challenges we face, and celebrate one of the good things in life, live music.”

While he hasn't been able to tour during the coronavirus pandemic, Steve Vai has kept himself busy, launching a new Patreon account in which he hosts Q&As, listening parties and more, as well as a new track he wrote with only one hand, Knappsack .

See below for a full list of dates on the US leg of the Inviolate World Tour. Tickets go on sale September 17, while EVO Experience VIP bundles are available from September 15.

STEVE VAI Announces “Inviolate” 2022 U.S. Tour with 54 Scheduled Appearances

steve vai uk tour 2022

Steve Vai has announced an extensive tour of the U.S., with 54 scheduled appearances confirmed. Vai ‘s “Inviolate” world tour will begin at House Of Blues in Las Vegas on January 27, 2022, and wrap in Los Angeles on April 2 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel.

The general on-sale will go live on September 17, at Vai.com , with a VIP pre-sale available on September 15.

A variety of EVO Experience VIP bundles are available. EVO Experience offerings, dependent upon tier purchased, include signed JEM Jr. guitars; an invitation to a pre-show group question-and-answer session, meet-and-greet and photo with Steve ; soundcheck viewing access; a guided tour of Steve ‘s instruments and gear; exclusive merchandise; commemorative VIP laminates and access to premium tickets.

This run is the first excursion of many planned which together are a multi-faceted world tour that will bring the guitarist and composer to most continents across the globe touching down in dozens of countries. Vai has been working on a new studio album and those details will be shared imminently. These appearances will present an all-new show featuring a lot of new music, with plans for performances to be staged for the next several years.

This past April, Vai launched a Patreon page where he has regularly conducted exclusive one-hour question & answer sessions and more for a $5.00 monthly commitment. His on-going series “Alien Guitar Secrets Live” now premieres on Patreon, with a focus on the guitar, music, his career and the business aiming to offer insights that enlighten perspectives for their own worlds. He breaks down various songs from his catalog to show techniques, and discusses anything from writing, recording, publishing, promoting, and touring.  Additionally, the series “Under It All: Hard Questions,” enables Vai to engage in more esoteric life principles and topics where no question is off limits.  Many of his filmed interviews include his perspective on deeper subjects, and comment boards frequently allude to a broad interest in further exploration of his personal thoughts. Whether sharing detail on his observations surrounding life, the creative process, spirituality or the human condition, “UIA” delves into opinion that’s led by the free form forum.

Vai will be joined by his long-tenured ensemble members Dave Weiner (guitar, keyboards), Philip Bynoe (bass) and Jeremy Colson (drums).
