Rolling Stones 2022 tour

The Rolling Stones have announced dates for their 60th anniversary tour, their second jaunt since the death of founding drummer Charlie Watts last August. The European summer tour will take in fourteen shows in ten countries across the contintent and will present the premiere of “a brand new ‘Sixty’ production,” starting in Madrid on June 1.

The announcement notes that the group will be playing its first concert in Liverpool in more than 50 years, followed by two shows in London’s Hyde Park. The tour follows the group’s successful U.S. stadium tour last fall, which was rescheduled from 2020 and according to the announcement sold more than 500,000 tickets.

While the announcement makes no reference to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the tour keep mostly to western European countries, with Vienna being the city closest to the conflict (and several hundred miles away). The Stones have toured extensively in eastern Europe over the years and in fact were the first Western rock band to perform behind what was then the “Iron Curtain,” in Warsaw in 1967.

The announcement states: The Stones, once again joined by Steve Jordan on drums, will be treating fans to a set list like no other, packed full of classics such as ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, ‘Start Me Up’ and many more. However, it wouldn’t be a Rolling Stones gig without some surprises each night and a selection of unexpected tracks from their formidable arsenal of songs will also be popping up in the set list. As always with the Stones, there will be a spectacular new RS ‘SIXTY’ production, including a massive stage, cutting edge lighting and state of the art video design, all to be unveiled for this long-awaited European tour.

The Rolling Stones have announced their return to Europe this summer, including two huge, flagship shows at London’s Hyde Park. The itinerary embraces 14 shows in ten countries under the title SIXTY , to mark the mighty band’s 60th anniversary in 2022.

The new touring extravaganza, produced by Concerts West/AEG Presents, will open in Madrid on June 1, and the schedule has the Stones returning to the UK, including their first-ever concert at Anfield, the famous home of Liverpool Football Club, on July 9. This is also the band’s first show in that city for more than 50 years.

The tour marks the first live appearances by the peerless rockers since those on the first legs of their No Filter tour in 2017 and 2018. The announcement of the shows is further marked by the unveiling of a vibrant new version of the Stones’ famous tongue and lips logo for the tour, created by award-winning British designer Mark Norton.

As on the resumption of that No Filter tour with new American dates between September and November last year, the band will feature Steve Jordan on drums, who took over following the death of Charlie Watts in August. Those shows sold more than half a million tickets. Tickets for the new tour go on sale at 10am Friday 18th March.

In addition to countless trademark hits, the Stones will also be presenting European fans with some surprises each night from their vast catalog. The spectacular new SIXTY production will include a massive stage, cutting edge lighting and state of the art video design.

Of the upcoming London shows, Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents, says: “Whenever Hyde Park is mentioned, it’s impossible not to think of The Rolling Stones. Two nights on June 25th and July 3rd cap off an incredible line up for BST Hyde Park 2022 but nobody brings it like the Stones when they’re on home turf in London.”

Rolling Stones Announce U.K. and European Tour Dates

The Rolling Stones have announced a new batch of tour dates for the U.K. and Europe to mark their 60th anniversary.

The Sixty tour will kick off on June 1 in Madrid and wrap up on July 31 in Stockholm. The full run of dates can be seen below.

“Sorry to keep you all hanging around, but the waiting is over,” guitarist Keith Richards said in a statement. “I’ve always said the best place for rock ‘n’ roll is on being onstage with the Stones, and this year is very special.”  Ronnie Wood added: “When I look out at the sea of people when we play in Europe, all I can see is smiles. It’s heartwarming, and I’m glad we make people happy every time we play live. Can’t wait to get on this brand new stage with the boys and have some fun.”

Steve Jordan, who served as Charlie Watts ' replacement for the 2021 No Filter Tour , will once again be joining the band on drums. Richards recently reported that Jordan had been involved in writing new material with the group.

"It seems like only yesterday that I was in the studio with Charlie, joshing around. It’s just so weird and then very sad,” Mick Jagger told Billboard in September 2021 following the death of the band's longtime drummer. “And I mean, it’s such a long time that you work with someone like that, and you get to know someone so well and their quirks and their idiosyncrasies and they know yours. And there’s a language in communication with musicians, obviously, or anything else. … That’s very rare. I miss that so much.”

The Rolling Stones topped the list of most lucrative tours  in 2021, grossing an average of $9.6 million per show for a total of $115.5 million. In December, Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood appeared together for a small benefit show in London to honor Watts. (Original bassist Bill Wyman was also in attendance.) Richards performed with his solo backing band , the X-Pensive Winos, for the first time in 30 years at a charity concert in New York City last week.

The Rolling Stones live in Madrid: Celebrating six decades at the top for rock’n’roll royalty

Wanda Metropolitano, June 1: the band return with a bang to celebrate another unassailable milestone

The Rolling Stones live in Madrid

Two formidable British institutions hit considerable milestones this week: Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the British throne, and The Rolling Stones kick off their 60th Anniversary tour; a 14-date jaunt through European stadiums this summer. Both Her Madge and The Stones’ Mick Jagger are undeniable symbols of post-War British power and both are prone to costume changes. Although, only one will wiggle its hips, blow kisses and peacock around the stage for two-and-a-half hours. Thankfully, it’s the latter.

This is, as Jagger tells the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium crowd in Spanish, a very special night. It marks the start of a new ‘Sixty’ tour’, guitarist Ronnie Wood’s 75th birthday, and the first European show they’ve ever played without their late drummer, Charlie Watts. The iconic sticksman passed in August 2021 , and while their returning shows without him last winter – featuring replacement Steve Jordan – showed a band still processing the loss of their secret weapon and great pal, ‘Sixty’ celebrates his life and everyone who remains in the band. The show opens with a video tribute to Watts, and as Jagger recently said : “I don’t really expect him to be there any more if I turn round during a show”. The Stones are clearly ready to look forward, but never forget the past.

Madrid is a perfect place to start the new era. Here, they’re treated like infallible rock’n’roll gods, welcomed on stage by home-made banners that combine the national flags of Spain, Argentina and Uruguay with the infamous tongue-logo. If you’re not wearing a piece of new merchandise (or knock-off), you’re the odd one out. You’d better be prepared for when the band bring these vibes to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium and BST Hyde Park in London for their first UK shows in nearly four years.

rolling stones tour 2022 europe

For those who’ve seen The Stones live before, little here was genuinely new: ‘Street Fighting Man’ and ‘19th Nervous Breakdown’ still offer a one-two punch, and the groovy ‘Honky Tonk Woman’ and ‘Miss You’ still have serious slink, but they remain thrilling nonetheless. When they do throw in a curveball, like playing 1966’s ‘Out Of Time’ live for the first time ever , it’s breathtaking to find elements of the band’s legacy that feel untouched. The great survivors still have many tricks up their sleeves.

Jagger’s crowd work is as spectacular as ever; wriggling, pointing, clapping and blowing kisses as he flirts with every corner of this gigantic football stadium – all the while sprinting up and down a 100 metre walkway. The comparisons to Harry Styles seem apt – though Mick disputes it – and it appears that he seems to give extra effort tonight to up the playful rivalry: ‘Beast Of Burden’ features some unnecessary, thoroughly entertaining interpretive dancing side of stage from Jagger. Even when Keith Richards takes the lead on ‘Happy’ and ‘Slipping Away’, he seems genuinely touched at the crowd’s response, flashing that dazzling smile of pearly whites.

And six decades in, there’s nary a thrill on earth like the final 30 minutes of a Stones gig: who else could lead a set-closing run-in with the likes of ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ and ‘Jumping Jack Flash’ and complete it so effortlessly? Just as the show begins to feel too familiar again, they’re always ready to keep themselves and fans on their toes. During ‘Gimme Shelter’, the anti-war song features a tribute to Ukraine, with Jagger and backing vocalist Sasha Allen trading lines as devastating images of bombed-out buildings play on screen.

Recommended

The band’s return to Europe for their first shows post-COVID is undoubtedly a special one, and the focused mission of the tour – celebrating the band’s legacy, but trying to keep it fresh – brings extra gravitas to the evening. At the rate and intensity they’re going at, there’s little stopping them from making a crack at their own Platinum Jubilee in the years to come.

The Rolling Stones played:

‘Street Fighting Man’ ’19th Nervous Breakdown’ ‘Sad Sad Sad’ ‘Tumbling Dice’ ‘Out of Time’ ‘Beast of Burden’ ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ ‘Living in a Ghost Town’ ‘Honky Tonk Women’ ‘Happy’ ‘Slipping Away’ ‘Miss You’ ‘Midnight Rambler’ ‘Start Me Up’ ‘Paint It Black’ ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ ‘Gimme Shelter’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’

The Rolling Stones will also play an additional UK date with a show at the iconic Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 9, as part of the band’s new European tour ‘SIXTY’. Visit here for tickets and more information.

The Rolling Stones

In spring 1993, Mick Jagger appeared on the cover of  Esquire  next to the line “Have You Seen Your Grandfather, Baby?” – a reference to both a 1966 Rolling Stones single and the fact that Jagger had reached the ripe old age of… wait for it…. 49. What a drag it is getting old. Could the Stones keep rolling?

The Rolling Stones

See latest videos, charts and news

The question seems quaint today, considering it came about halfway through the Stones’ career, which is now being celebrated with a 60th anniversary tour of Europe that began June 1 in Madrid and runs through July 31 in Stockholm. Jagger and Keith Richards are now both 78, Ron Wood is 75, and over the last three decades the band has survived the retirement of bassist Bill Wyman (at a mere 56!), the replacement of one of Jagger’s heart valves, and the death of drummer Charlie Watts. That  Esquire cover is nearly 30 — and still, they keep rolling.

Madonna Is Only Woman to Achieve This Boxscore Feat as The Celebration Tour Wraps

To answer the obvious question: The Stones are still a fantastic live act, to judge by their June 5 show at Olympiastadion in Munich, the second of this tour. Jagger may have lost a step, but he still dominated a stage set up with long wings on both sides, plus a catwalk that extended above the stadium floor. (He could move around less but apparently chooses not to.) Richards and Wood moved less – no great change there – but played as well as ever. Darryl Jones, who has been filling in for Wyman since 1993 – longer than most bands last – shone on a bass-heavy “Miss You,” as close as the Stones ever got to disco. And though Watts was in some way the soul of the Stones – unflappable, immaculately dressed and always a bit behind the beat by exactly the right amount – Steve Jordan, who began filling in for him last year, anchored the band with style.

Trending on Billboard

The show started strong with “Street Fighting Man” and “19th Nervous Breakdown,” then slipped with a version of “Rocks Off” that didn’t quite hold together when Jagger had trouble hitting some notes. But the band regained its footing with “Tumbling Dice,” then played the second-ever live version of “Out of Time,” which Jagger introduced by saying it “should be better” than the song’s live debut in Madrid. (The backup musicians certainly gave it a rich musical texture.) After exhorting the crowd to sing along to “Ruby Tuesday” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” Jagger changed into a hoodie to clown around a bit on “Living in a Ghost Town” and a sharp “Honky Tonk Women.”

Jagger had received some attention from German media for filling his Instagram account with tourist pictures of Munich from the previous day, and before he introduced the band, he spoke about enjoying a drink at a biergarten during what he described as “bikini weather,” in decent German. “Not many bikinis tonight,” he pointed out, on account of a rainstorm that threatened to delay the show, then cleared up. Then Richards took the mic to play a song he introduced as “a new one; well, an old new one” – “Connection,” which came out in 1967. (Then again, who among us can pretend to know how Keith Richards experiences time: He was around before most of the fans in the audience, and he may very well be around after them, too.) He got as much applause for speaking in English as Jagger did speaking German.

Then Jagger came back to sing “Miss You,” a typically extended version of “Midnight Rambler” and four of the band’s iconic songs: “Start Me Up,” “Paint It, Black,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” The hands-down highlight was the first encore: A furious version of “Gimme Shelter” that Jagger sang as a duet with backup vocalist Sasha Allen. As the music built, Allen and then Jagger sashayed down the catwalk, two divas determined to make their drama bring down the house, then faced one another to howl out all the emotion in the lyrics. The entire stadium seemed to hang on every line – “It’s just a shot away / shot away” – and one of the grander productions in rock seemed to fade into the background.

At this point, the Stones, who ended the show with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” have become known partly for their professional consistency and their ability to deliver a great show, rain or shine – even with a new drummer or new heart valve. And they did. At their best, though – on “Out of Time,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Miss You” and especially “Gimme Shelter” – they also still deliver real magic.

A senior moment: The Rolling Stones to rock with AARP on 2024 tour

Call it sympathy for the seniors.

In a pairing over 60 years in the making, the not-so-retiring Rolling Stones will be hitting the road in 2024 on a tour backed by the AARP.

That’s right — Mick Jagger , 80; Keith Richards, who turns 80 Dec. 18; and Ronnie Wood, 76, are throwing in with the American Association of Retired Persons as the sponsor of their Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds, which kicks off April 28 in Houston.

The two-month stadium trek — which includes a headlining show at the New Orleans Jazz Fest on May 2 and a MetLife Stadium stop in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on May 23, before wrapping up in Santa Clara, California on July 17 — is behind the Stones’ new album “Hackney Diamonds.”

The band released its first LP of original material since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang” — and its first since the 2021 death of beloved drummer Charlie Watts — in October.

Reflecting on the 18 years since their last album of new material in September, Jagger quipped, “We’ve been very lazy.”

But, he added, “We didn’t want to make just any record and put it out … Before we went in [to make ‘Hackney Diamonds’], we all said, ‘We’ve got to make a record that we really love ourselves.’ Other people may like it, other people may not. But we must say that we are quite pleased with it.”

“Hackney Diamonds” was launched with a star-studded album release party at NYC’s Racket club, where the Stones played a seven-song set including classics such as “Shattered” and “Tumbling Dice” as well as new songs “Angry,” “Whole Wide World” and “Bite My Head Off.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers were even joined by Lady Gaga on “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” the penultimate “Diamonds” track.

“This the first club gig we’ve done here in a long time,” said Jagger of playing the unusually small (for him) stage in Chelsea.

But the Stones — who last played North America on their No Filter tour in 2021, while gigging across Europe on their Sixty tour in 2022 — will be back to rocking the big stages that they are accustomed to in 2024.

No word yet, though, if there will be any senior discounts on those tickets.

The band that brought the world “Sympathy For The Devil” is headed to Sin City.

On Saturday, May 11, the Rolling Stones are dropping into Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium with special guest The Pretty Reckless.

This concert will be the third official stop on the Stones’ ”24 Hackney Diamonds Tour.’ At the first two gigs, the Rock Hall of Famers have played a mix of classic hits like “Start Me Up,” “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Miss You,” “Gimme Shelter” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” along with a handful of cuts from their 2023 album “Hackney Diamonds,” according to Set List FM .

And if the band’s Instagram is any indication, the shows look like a blast.

As of now, they’re surprisingly affordable (especially for Las Vegas).

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $77 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Better yet, general admission floor passes start at $103 before fees .

Not a bad price to catch one of the world’s most legendary groups live and up close.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Rolling Stones 2024 tour schedule

After the night in Vegas, Mick, Keith and co. have 15 more stadium concerts on their 2024 tour calendar.

For a closer look, here’s where they’re headed next (along with the special guests they’re bringing along):

The Rolling Stones set list

Most recently, the Stones performed at Glendale, AZ’s State Farm Stadium on May 7.

Here’s what they took to the stage that night, according to Set List FM :

01.) “Start Me Up” 02.) “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (but I Like It)” 03.) “She’s So Cold” 04.) “Angry” 05.) “Beast of Burden” 06.) “Monkey Man” 07.) “Mess It Up” 08.) “Tumbling Dice”

The Rolling Stones new music

On Oct. 20, the Stones released their 26th American studio album,  “Hackney Diamonds,”  featuring special guests Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.

Comprised of 12 hard-rocking tracks that wouldn’t be out of place alongside their singalong stadium anthems of yore, “Diamonds” shows that Mick, Keith, and Ronnie still have their sticky fingers on rock and roll’s pulse.

“We wouldn’t have put this album out if we didn’t really like it,” Jagger, 80, told Jimmy Fallon. “We must say that we are quite pleased with it. We’re not big-headed but we hope you like it.”

If you’re looking to sample the record, we suggest starting with the fierce lead track “Angry” and the wistful ballad “Dreamy Skies.”

Prefer to listen in full? You can find “Hackney Diamonds”  here .

The Rolling Stones are Touring Once Again — 16-City North American Tour Kicks Off With Sold-Out Houston Show

Rolling Stones Hackney Diamonds tour dates

The Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds Tour kicks off with a sold-out Houston show, the first of 18 performances across 16 North American cities through July.

Fans are traveling from far and wide to catch one of the world’s most legendary rock bands in what could be their last tour. The Rolling Stones — formed over six decades ago — played to a sold-out crowd at the NRG Stadium in Houston, starting off with their 1981 classic, “Start Me Up.”

Mick Jagger, now 80 years old, took to the stage in a striped jacket, a grey sequined shirt, and black jeans, dancing and skipping across the stage with all the prowess of his younger self.

“Hello, Houston! It’s good to be back in the lone star state,” Jagger greeted a roaring crowd, sharing anecdotes from the band’s trip to NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, and cracking wise about local Texas convenience stores.

Performing alongside Jagger were The Stones’ other surviving members, Keith Richards (also 80), and Ronnie Wood (76), as well as 67-year-old drummer Steve Jordan, who replaced original member Charlie Watts following his passing in 2021, shortly after turning 80.

The band played 18 songs over two hours, including a mix of classics and a couple from their latest record, Hackney Diamonds — their first album of original songs since 2005 — and the first since the death of drummer Charlie Watts. Other songs played included “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” and “Out of Time,” before closing with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

“Every time I see them, it’s such a joy. They’re amazing; they take such true joy in playing,” said 56-year-old fan Greta Brasgalla from El Paso, who traveled to Houston to see the band live for the seventh time, and plans to see them again in Atlanta in June .

As the band members enter their eighth decade on this earth , many fans are understandably concerned that this may be their final chance to see the legendary rockers live. The Rolling Stones are heading to New Orleans Jazz Fest on Thursday, May 2, before heading west to hit Arizona, Nevada, and Washington.

rolling stones tour 2022 europe

The Rolling Stones will be getting their ya-ya’s out again at State Farm Stadium in Glendale when the Hackney Diamonds Tour hits metro Phoenix on Tuesday, May 7, a day the city has proclaimed shall temporarily be known as Ruby Tuesday .

This is the Stones’ third time at State Farm Stadium, where they last played in 2019 on their final tour with Charlie Watts, who left this world on Aug. 24, 2021.

The Hackney Diamond Tour is in support of their first album of original material in nearly 20 years, which topped the Billboard album charts in late October while leading many critics to proclaim it their best work since “Tattoo You” in 1981 (and whether you agree with that or not, it’s certainly a strong contender for the title).

Glendale is the third stop on the Rolling Stones 2024 tour. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Where is State Farm Stadium?

State Farm Stadium is off Loop 101 between Cardinals Way/Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue in the Glendale Sports and Entertainment District.

The street address is 1 Cardinals Way, and typing "State Farm Stadium" into your phone will yield the same result, which may not be as helpful as you think.

In fact, fans are encouraged to avoid their favorite apps when approaching the stadium, as they do not take into account special road closures, traffic patterns and access routes allocated to specific carparks. Using these apps could result in a longer commute.

The stadium website encourages ticketholders to use the directions on the parking pass purchased at SeatGeek.com , as this accounts for road closures and event-specific diversions.
