How to Experience The Players Championship as a VIP

There’s also only one way to experience golf's unofficial fifth major: A $6,000 VIP ticket to The Players Club.

Considered golf’s unofficial fifth major and boasting the strongest field of any PGA Tour event throughout the year, The Players Championship exudes drama. For those who want to experience it in person as a VIP, only one ticket will suffice.

It’s almost a given that each spring The Players Championship will provide great drama, especially at TPC Sawgrass’ signature 17th hole. Over the past decade, the championship has almost always hung in the balance when the last groups of players reached the 17th tee box during the final round.

The unique construction of the Stadium Course, a product of the vision of former PGA Tour commissioner Deane Beman and the work of course designer Pete Dye, makes the entire championship venue a spectator-friendly environment. However, the best seats in the house — especially at the famous par-3 17th — are positioned inside a private hospitality venue perched two stories above the Golf Channel’s television sets.

It’s the ideal vantage point to keep track of the action on the championship’s closing holes. “That is the defining moment of the tournament,” says Jared Rice, the championship’s executive director, “and to be in a venue that offers amazing views in a very exclusive setting is really unmatched.”

There’s also only one way in: A $6,000 VIP ticket to The Players Club, which provides six days’ worth of transferrable access to all-inclusive hospitality areas across the property, including the 77,000-sq-ft Mediterranean style clubhouse, which is otherwise only open to PGA Tour players and their families, as well as select VIP guests. “You’re at the central artery of so much,” Rice says of being in the clubhouse. “You can look out from the back and see this beehive of activity happening all around you.”

A Players Club pass is more than just a ticket to unlock clubhouse doors, and it gets you more than just exceptional views. It also delivers access to exceptional culinary offerings. The Players Club menu showcases cuts of Wagyu beef and racks of wild boar, for example, as well as seafood specialties like Togarashi-spiced Hawaiian Opah and Himalayan salt-crusted Antarctic salmon. Similar attention to detail spills over onto the cocktail menu, where riffs on classic libations utilize hard-to-get rye whiskey from Kentucky.

“I haven’t been outside the ropes at this golf tournament,” says defending champion Rory McIlroy. “But from inside the ropes,” he adds with a wry smile, “it looks like a pretty good time.”

As for the significance of the tournament and the atmosphere that surrounds TPC Sawgrass during the week of The Players Championship, McIlroy acknowledges that it’s unlike other PGA Tour events. “It feels different,” he says. “It feels important, and the only way you can really explain that to someone is if they come here.”

Those that do will want to take a page out of McIlroy’s playbook and stay on the ocean side of Highway A1A. “When I started to do well here and enjoy myself more was when I started to stay at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club on the beach,” he says.

The Players Club members will also want to stay for at least a couple of extra days, which will give them a chance to take on the Stadium Course once it reopens to the public. According to McIlroy, the course doesn’t favor any particular playing style, but it does pay to be conservative. “Don’t try to take on too much,” he says. “I missed my first three cuts here [because] I wanted to hit driver everywhere. I wanted to be aggressive, and this course doesn’t let you do that.”

2024 Course Renovation

Following the 2023 TOUR Championship, East Lake Golf Club will undergo a full-scale renovation of its golf course and practice facilities. Using recently uncovered aerial photography from 1949 as inspiration, golf course architect Andrew Green will bring the look, feel and playability of the golf course back to golf’s “golden age.” Design elements include bunker shapes & location, hole orientations, “chocolate drop” mounding and green design features that are characteristic of this era. Several holes will undergo slight design adjustments to more closely resemble Donald Ross’s original routing. All of these elements will reflect the project’s goals while at the same time appeal to all levels of play, including the PGA TOUR’s best players each year during the TOUR Championship.

• Wakonda Club, a private member-owned club founded in 1922, is a classic parkland-style golf course designed by William Langford, located in the heart of Des Moines. Since its prestigious beginnings, Wakonda has been considered one of the best golf courses in the Midwest by not only playing host to major events, but also through grounds keeping innovation. In 2023, Wakonda Club underwent an extensive renovation designed by architect Tyler Rae.

Catch the action in style and enjoy exclusive access to a viewing platform and Ticket+ only bar on the 14th hole. 

Once on course, follow signage, use the digital player locator and interactive map or take the free shuttle bus to make your way to the 14th hole. Simply show your wristband to access the exclusive platform.

Priority entrance and fast-track bag check

Follow signs towards the Ticket+ priority lanes at the venue entrance. Show our Welcome staff your digital ticket and receive your wristband and welcome pack. You will then join a priority entry lane allowing you to beat the queues.

Complimentary food and beverage vouchers and priority queues for main bar in Championship Village

Guests will receive a £15 food voucher and two drinks vouchers at the welcome tent.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Dodgers Announce New ‘Take The Field Tour’ Beginning In June

This season, the Los Angeles Dodgers introduced a whole new way to experience Dodger Stadium with their Take The Field Tours. It combines the traditional stadium tour experience with field access that has never been offered to the public in the stadium’s 62 year history.

The offerings in a stadium tour includes a trip down to the field at Dodger Stadium, a walk through the Vin Scully Press Box, and ability to get up close and personal with the team’s World Series trophies, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Silver Slugger, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year awards.

What the Take The Field Tours add to this package is the ability to actually step foot onto the Dodger Stadium field and take part in a variety of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Participants will have the chance to play catch and mini-games in the Dodger Stadium outfield, and can even throw pitches off the mound in the Dodgers bullpen.

In total, the Take The Field Tour experience lasts approximately 2-3 hours and participants must sign a waiver and release in order to participate. All gear, except for baseball gloves, is provided by the Dodgers and no cleats, bats, or balls will be allowed in upon entry.

The event is scheduled for June 8 and tickets are priced at $175.

Dodgers other tour options

The Dodgers have a plethora of tour options for those who aren’t available or aren’t interested in the Take The Field Tour.

There are pregame tours, private/group tours, clubhouse tours, Fernandomania tours, Hands-On History tours, Jackie Robinson tours, garden tours, and VIP tours. Each tour has their unique offering that the others do not, with various price points depending on what is on offer.

The standard stadium tour comes with a $30 price tag for adults and is the most affordable option with the most available dates. The Fernandomania and Jackie Robinson tours are the most affordable options with a $25 price tag, but have a limited amount of dates.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
