Cleveland’s Black Community
Cleveland’s aapi community, cleveland’s lgbtq+ community, cleveland's hispanic community, downtown cleveland.
The rejuvenated energy reverberating through Downtown Cleveland’s historic districts, pouring out from its stadiums, glistening along the Lake Erie shoreline and mingling among skyscrapers and historic buildings is worth the visit alone. Downtown Cleveland is buzzing with nightlife, restaurants, attractions and hotels.
Neighborhoods
What makes a city unique? In Cleveland, we believe it’s the very people who jaunt along our bustling avenues, welcome you from behind the counters of mom-and-pop joints, showcase decades worth of hand-crafted art, and shuffle the cold draft beer your direction. Find these people in the very neighborhoods in which they live — places that boast the best food and nightlife in the city.
Our ‘burbs aren’t the kind of places you’ll find in Anytown, USA. Unless, of course, it’s standard for most suburbs to come complete with a national park, award-winning chefs, Lake Erie beaches and miles of interconnected bike trails. This is what happens when you’re not trying to be something you’re not.
Cleveland Region
From the rush of one of the fastest roller coasters in the world to the serene calm of sipping wine at a vineyard on a Lake Erie, the region just outside our doorstep will level-up your Cleveland experience.

Official Visit Primer: Sooners hosting eight visitors this weekend
24 hours ago, the Sooners were expecting eight official visitors this weekend.
24 hours later, they're still expecting eight official visitors, but there's been one key addition and one key subtraction to the visitor list.
To this point in the cycle, the Sooners have only used four OV's for 2025 prospects; they hosted one official visitor at the spring game on the weekend of Apr. 19-21, and had three official visitors last weekend on June 7-9. Thus, this is the first genuinely big official visit weekend for Oklahoma, and it's headlined by a number of blue-chip recruits with whom the Sooners are hoping to make a strong impression.
As the visitors have begun to arrive in Norman, here's a look at all eight of the prospects that Oklahoma will host this weekend, and a brief glimpse into their respective recruitments.
The Rundown: There's not a whole lot to lay out here, as Wilson has been solidly committed to Oklahoma since early April. He's the only one of the Sooners' 15 verbal pledges who needed to take his OV this weekend rather the ChampU BBQ weekend of June 21-23. But there's no two ways about it: Wilson is locked in with Todd Bates and the Sooners, and this experience will afford him the opportunity to do some valuable peer recruiting.
The Rundown: Boucard's official visit to Oklahoma has been on the calendar a long time, as he originally booked the visit all the way back in February. It'll be his first trip to Norman, and the Sooner staff is hoping it won't also be his last. He's got a strong relationship with Todd Bates, which has helped OU establish strong standing in his recruitment. In a previous interview with OUInsider, he said of Bates, “He got a special place in my heart, and me and him, our bond is unbreakable."
USC has some momentum with Boucard after hosting him last weekend, and Alabama looms — the Tide will get his last official on June 21. Miami is also heavily involved for the native Canadian. This will be the only shot that Oklahoma gets at Boucard prior to his July 20 commitment, so the Sooners will need to hit a home run with the blue-chip defender and his family.
The Rundown: Oklahoma is battling Arizona, Arizona State, SMU and Washington for Iheanachor's services. The Mustangs have a bit of juice coming off the three-star LB's official visit to the Hilltop last week, as they've put strong emphasis on landing both him and his cousin Chinedu Onyeagoro . Iheanachor previously visited Oklahoma for the spring game on Apr. 20, so he's got some fundamental familiarity with the Sooners' campus and culture. However, the true recruiting relationship is rather new here. OU just offered Iheanachor last month. Thus, this one's a bit of a wild card heading into the weekend.

Ohio State official visit shows 2025 WR Quincy Porter potential for development
Quincy Porter said he knows how he got Ohio State’s attention in January 2023.
Having just completed his sophomore year at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, Porter remembers already having the size, speed and IQ of a future Division I wide receiver. The Buckeyes were the next school in line. He already holding offers from Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Michigan at the time Ohio State extended an offer.
A year-and-a-half later, Porter has grown into one of the top receiver prospects in the 2025 class as the No. 49 player overall and the No. 8 receiver in the country per 247Sports' composite rankings.
And Ohio State remains a player in a recruitment that is nearing its end because of what the Buckeyes have done with receivers like him.
“You can see the speed and the strength they all play with,” Porter said. “And it shows that they are doing well in the (NFL). They are not just doing it in college. They are all doing well in the league.”
Porter is not shy about describing the receiver he feels he can become. Standing at 6 feet 3 and 190 pounds, Porter says he has a similar game to former Alabama wide receiver and 13-year NFL veteran Julio Jones.
Can Ohio State keep No. 1 2025 class? Ohio State has the No. 1 2025 recruiting class. How can OSU keep that top ranking?
“I think we have a similar size and build,” Porter said. “And he’s a big guy that can run, and has a high IQ. So that’s basically me.”
After bringing in 686 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore, Porter recorded 41 catches for 969 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in 2023.
Quincy Porter impressed by Ohio State official visit
Porter said he did not have many expectations going into his official visit at Ohio State. He just wanted to see what the “feeling” was like.
After his official visit June 7-9, Porter said Ohio State left a “good” impression, and that the Buckeyes remain “really high” on his list.
Ohio State has a commitment from one receiver in the 2025 class in New Jersey four-star De’zie Jones. But the Buckeyes have historically landed at least three wide receivers in each recruiting class during the Ryan Day era.
Porter said that during his visit Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate gave him a clear view at what life would be like as a Buckeye.
“Hard working,” Porter said. “Everybody here is good, as well, so you’re going to compete. Not just people across from you, but the people lined up next to you.”
Porter has official visits scheduled with Michigan, the first program to offer him, and Oklahoma before he makes his college decision July 14.
But Porter said he feels he can continue the reputation Ohio State has cultivated with receivers Garrett Wilson , Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Marvin Harrison Jr.
“(A) part is development,” Porter said of Ohio State. “And (Ohio State) is showing development.”

Six years after US mass shooting, demolition starts on Parkland school building
More than six years after a gunman massacred 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in one of the worst U.S. school shootings, crews began tearing down the abandoned building on Friday.
It's officially Pride Month: Here's everything you should know about the global LGBTQ celebration
Here are the answers to some of the most common questions about LGBTQ Pride Month, annual LGBTQ Pride parades and the iconic 1969 Stonewall uprising.
What is LGBTQ Pride Month?
LGBTQ Pride Month is a commemoration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community that is part celebration and part protest. It is often associated with massive parades and parties that honor the community’s joys and accomplishments. But the rallies, marches and political actions can be just as important to draw attention to the issues still facing the community.
How did LGBTQ Pride Month start and why is it in June?
LGBTQ Pride Month traces its roots back to the 1969 Stonewall riots , which started on June 28, 1969. The first Pride marches started the following year, on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the multiday riots, and these one-day celebrations eventually evolved into a full month of LGBTQ pride.
According to a search of Newspapers.com, an online archive of more than 26,000 newspapers, the first mention of “Pride Month” was in a June 5, 1972, issue of Pennsylvania’s Delaware County Daily Times. In the article, gay activist Byrna Aronson talks about the gay rights rallies popping up across the country and shortly after says, “We call it Gay Pride week and Gay Pride Month, the whole month of June.”
The first time The New York Times mentioned Pride Month, according to its online archive, was in a 1989 article about Mayor Ed Koch being heckled as he “proclaimed the month of June as Lesbian and Gay Pride and History Month” at a ceremony in Greenwich Village.
What are the Stonewall riots?
In the early-morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 1969, members of the New York City Police Department staged a raid at the Stonewall Inn, a mafia-run gay bar in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood. While such raids were not uncommon at NYC gay bars at the time, what was unique on this night is that the patrons had decided to fight back.
The Stonewall riots , also known as the Stonewall uprising and the Stonewall rebellion, lasted several days and are credited as the spark that ignited the modern-day LGBTQ rights movement.
In June 2016, President Barack Obama designated the Stonewall Inn and the surrounding area a national monument, making it the first national monument honoring LGBTQ rights .

When was the first LGBTQ Pride march?
The first Pride marches in the U.S. took place on June 28, 1970, exactly one year after the start of the 1969 Stonewall riots. In New York, organizers dubbed their event the Christopher Street Liberation Day March. In a New York Times article the following day, the paper wrote: “Thousands of young men and women homosexuals from all over the Northeast marched from Greenwich Village to the Sheep Meadow in Central Park yesterday proclaiming ‘the new strength and pride of the gay people.’”
The same day as the NYC march, Los Angeles held a “Christopher Street West” celebration on Hollywood Boulevard that drew thousands. According to LGBTQ historian Lillian Faderman, there were also two “very small marches” in San Francisco and Chicago that year, but New York City’s was the largest by far.
Check out this story for more info :
- The road to America’s first LGBTQ Pride marches
What are the biggest LGBTQ Pride marches in the world?
New York City continues to be a global hub for Pride celebrations, drawing millions of people to its annual Pride March in June, which extends from midtown Manhattan to Greenwich Village.
Both São Paulo and New York City have drawn crowds of about 4 million people to their Pride celebrations, making them the largest events in the world. Cities like Madrid, Toronto and San Francisco also regularly draw hundreds of thousands, and sometimes millions, of revelers.
When was the rainbow Pride flag created?
The rainbow Pride flag, the most enduring symbol of the LGBTQ rights movement, was created by seamster Gilbert Baker nearly half a century ago for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade in June 1978, which drew hundreds of thousands of revelers.
“Up until the rainbow flag in 1978, the pink triangle had really functioned as kind of the symbol of homosexuality and gay rights, but it was designed by Hitler. It was put on us in the same way that they used the Star of David against Jews. It was a whole code of symbols that were used to oppress people,” Gilbert told NBC News in 2016. “So we needed something that was from us.”
Gilbert liked the idea of a flag because “flags are about power,” he said, adding: “I knew right away that the rainbow would be the perfect fit for us.”
“It expressed our diversity in terms of our gender, our race, our ages — all the ways we’re different, yet connected,” he said of the rainbow. “And then using something from nature, taking the rainbow, one of the most beautiful, magical, spiritual parts of nature and making that a symbol for our sexuality, for our human rights.”
When did the U.S. government first recognize LGBTQ Pride Month?
President Bill Clinton was the first to declare a Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in June 1999, the 30th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. In his proclamation, Clinton drew attention to recent violent attacks against the LGBTQ community, likely referring to the murder of Matthew Shepard in October 1998.
“We cannot achieve true tolerance merely through legislation; we must change hearts and minds as well. Our greatest hope for a just society is to teach our children to respect one another, to appreciate our differences, and to recognize the fundamental values that we hold in common,” Clinton wrote in the proclamation.
