Tour Overview

This exhilarating safari jeep adventure starts when we head south past the Inn of the Good Samaritan and descend through the Biblical wilderness. At the sign indicating “sea level” we pause for a moment to take in the views across the desert. The tour continues to the edge of the Dead Sea at 430m below sea level where we pass the Qumran caves famed as the site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery. At this point we transfer to a 4X4 jeep and the excitement escalates as we race through the desert landscape over rocky hills and through dry river beds. We will learn about the desert environment, plants and animals as well as seeing places like the Cliffs of Dragot and the Murbaat Caves. The final stop is at the Dead Sea were we can cool off and enjoy the rejuvenating atmosphere.

The Judean Desert Jeep Tour heads off through the Judean Hills and into the sparse desert landscape referred to in the Bible as “wilderness.” On route we pass by the Inn of the Good Samaritan and pause at the sign indicated we are at sea level. Descending further Jericho can be seen in the distance. The tour reaches the shores of the Dead Sea at 430m below sea level. We pass Qumran, a site famed for the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The 2,000 year old parchments bearing the Old Testament were discovered in caves near Qumran. Here we change vehicles to a 4X4 jeep suitable for the desert terrain and the jeep safari tour really heats up! The tour sets out through the desert landscape scaling steep inclines and racing down into ravines, between hills and over rocky terrain. At the Cliffs of Dragot we’re treated to a panoramic view of the desert and the Dragot River below. Along the way your guide will point out unique desert plants and signs of animal life. Our jeep safari adventure takes us to the Murbaat Caves where artifacts were uncovered dating back thousands of years including 2nd century documents. Fascinating texts were discovered from the Second Jewish Revolt in 132-135AD including those written by Rabbi Shimon Bar Kochba leader of the revolt. The caves held an ancient set of tefilin proving that this Jewish tradition existed thousands of years ago. To cool down after out desert jeep safari our last stop is at the Dead Sea. Here we can relax and wash away the heat and dust of the desert. The Dead Sea is 8.5 times saltier than the ocean which makes the water thick like oily syrup that won’t let you sink! The high mineral content of the water and the dry, allergen-free air of the Dead Sea provide natural health benefits. It is also the perfect way to rejuvenate after our desert safari before heading back home.

The tour does not include:

• Full lunch is not included; we recommend you bring water and sandwiches
• This tour operates with a minimum of 4 passengers
• Recommended to bring hats, bathing suit, towels, sun protection and comfortable walking shoes
• It is possible to have pick ups/ drop offs in different cities. However, we do not disperse to specific drop off locations
• Booking is subject to  terms and conditions

Cancellation Policy

• 4% charge for notification up to 2 days or more before the start time of the tour.
• 25% charge for notification of a day before the start time of the tour.
• 100% charge for notification on the same day of the tour.

A day tour is a regular tour that we operate on specific weekdays. Tours depart from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Herzliya and Netanya. You have the option to upgrade your tour and ensure for yourself a place in a small group (up to 19 people). The tour duration from pickup time is approximately 10 hours. You will be picked up from your hotel, and after the tour, you will be returned to your hotel.

Almost all of our daily tours are operated primarily in English, in addition to a second language:  Or Spanish, or Russian, or German and or French. You can choose the preferred language of the tour when booking. You can view the tour schedule, as well as the second language schedule in order to make your best suited choice.

When booking your tour, you will need to mark which language you’d like the tour to be in. Note that for certain tours in certain languages, the price may be higher.

A regular group travels in a coach that comfortably transports up to 45 people. A small group travels in a minivan that seats 22 people. Other than that, the tours are identical.

Our tours leave from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Netanya and Herzliya. We pick up our travelers from most of the hotels in these cities. If you are staying at a private residence address, please choose the closest pick up hotel to your apartment or contact our office to be advised where to wait.

Children under 12 and students (with a valid student card) receive a 10% discount. 

You can bring your luggage with you and we’ll store it in the trunk of the vehicle during the tour. However, please be aware that we don’t take any responsibility for any damage or loss. Recommended to advise us that you are travelling with luggage.

Yes, but not too much. We definitely recommend bringing some local currency with you to pay for lunch and anything you may wish to; purchase along the way.

We, at Bein Harim Tourism, understand that plans can change, so you can change dates, cancel, or change your pickup point. Please note that cancellation fees will be charged subject to the cancellation policy as indicated on the tour page and confirmation email.

Two day Ramon Crater and Zin Valley  (A classic Negev tour option) Day One:  We explore many of the highlights of The Ramon crater entering through the Nekorot Valley on its western side. This Valley cuts through the Crater and takes in some of the best scenery in the area. The valley is where rainfall flows out of the crater during floods and it has a wealth of features associated with that including gorges, canyons and rock pools. The tour includes 4x4 adventure and some walking, we visit Mount Ardon, Mount Karbolet Haririm and the lowest point of the crater which is also the craters only natural water source, Ein Saharonim. We enjoy a short walk along the southern cliff edge of the crater's wall and enjoy the breathtaking views that span the whole of the crater from these cliffs. We exit the Ramon Crater on its eastern side following the 'Spice route', an ancient Nabatean trading route where merchants bearing wares from Asia to Europe tread on their perilous journey to the Mediterranean. This day of 4x4 and hiking includes the Ramon Crater's most dramatic scenery, its natural highlights and major historical sites. Accommodation choices include outdoor camping, desert Khan, guesthouses or hotels - according to preference.

Day Two:  We spend the day exploring the area's largest desert Valley, the Zin Valley. Here we experience the desert at its finest. The Zin Valley is one of the most popular choices for visitors wishing to get the best of their Negev desert experience. Its serene atmosphere and delightful views attract visitors year round. Highlights of the valley include the Ein Zik and Ein Akev desert springs. We reach the Zin Valley via Sde Boker where we stop briefly to visit the Ben Gurion memorial on the edge of the valley walls. This day can include a visit to the Avdat ruins for those with a particular interested in historic sites. This tour is an excellent year-round option especially for families. Meals: Lunch is a hearty picnic lunch in the great outdoors. Breakfast and evening meal depend on accommodation selected. Two Day 4x4 Jeep Tour from Eilat  (Desert tours Eilat) This unique overnight tour through the Eilat Mountains in the Negev desert that combines an exciting 4X4 Jeep tour and an adventurous camel trek. The Eilat Mountains is considered by many to be the most scenic area of the Negev desert. Day 1 - Setting off from Eilat in Jeeps, we journey off road into the scenic valley of Wadi Shalom where we meet our camels. We enjoy a two hour camel ride into the desert taking in the fabulous nature and scenery. Following the camel ride it's back to our jeeps as we wind our way over the off-road trails overlooking the Red Sea. We work our way up towards the mountains peaks along an ancient pilgrimage route to Mecca, on the way we visit the Ein Netafim spring which is popular with local wildlife, particularly desert mountain goats. We stop for a short break at Mount Yoash to enjoy the fabulous views that span the bay and take in the coastlines of Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The panoramic scenery stretches across Egypt's Sinai desert and the mountains of Jordan which rise over the expanses of the Arava Valley. From here we head to the 'Red Canyon' a popular highlight for visitors to Eilat and an interesting walk takes us down into the canyon, with a little help from fixtures in the canyon walls and back over the top of the canyon on the walk back. From here we head on to the sand dunes of the Kasui Valley and the small desert village of 'Shaharut' where we spend the night in traditional desert camping accommodation. After a hearty cooked meal we settle for the night in the sleeping bags and mattresses provided. Day 2 - After taking in the fabulous views from the cliffs of Shaharut we make our way to the Eteq canyon, the most picturesque canyon in the area. Here we begin our descent from the Negev Plateau with the breathtaking views of the Arava Valley ahead of us. At the Eteq canyon we stop for a walk into the canyon where we see rock pools (depending on season), this too is a popular area for local wildlife and the off-road route through this area is particularly dramatic and it leads us down into the expanses of the Arava where we explore the Statues valley before making our way back to Eilat where we complete our tour. Trip Price:  2 people $980, Up to 4 pax $1140 total, 5 or more $260 not incl lunch $14 p.p. per day, the night in Kibbutz or Shaharut: $75 p.p.

1 Day jeep tour from Jerusalem to the Judean Desert: Wadi Kelt, Marsaba Monastery and Nebi Musa This superb one day tour from Jerusalem covers the very best of the Judean Desert, it's historic sites, fascinating history and breathtaking scenery. The ancient monasteries of the Judean desert are amongst the oldest and most impressive in the world and many are still in use to this day. This guided tour takes in the best sights and most popular attractions while getting deep into the heart of the Judean desert.  Driving out of Jerusalem we begin our tour at Wadi Qelt, one of Israel's most stunning desert attractions. We leave our 4x4 vehicle and make our way on foot into the imposing Wadi Qelt. Steeped in history this remarkable desert valley is home to St George's Monastery which clings perilously to a cliff face and is accessible only by footbridge. Further along the Wadi is another of Christianity's most treasured sites, St. Chariton's monastery of Nahal Prat, again steeped in history and tradition this picturesque monastery is accessible only on foot. From here we head back to our vehicle and continue our tour to the biblical 'Mount Azazel' (Jabel Muntar).

Before heading back to Jerusalem we stop at the remains of the Hyrcania fortress and again at Nebi Musa, which Muslim tradition marks as the burial site of Moses. Here we complete out Judean desert tour and return by road to Jerusalem, arriving back by evening.

Negev Desert Jeep Tours

Ramon Crater jeep tour 2//4 hours

On our Ramon Crater jeep tour – starting from Mitzpe Ramon, we’ll ride through the biggest crater (“Makhtesh”) of its kind in the world, while we go some 220 million years back in time to the time of the dinosaurs. We’ll learn about the formation of this phenomena, search for fossils, taste edible desert plants, trace wild animal tracks and listen to the roaring hum of silence. This tour can end at a nearby village for real Bedouin hospitality.

Zin Valley springs tour – 4 hours

The jeep tour of the Zin Valley, near Sde Boker, takes us through surreal yellow-white cliffs and hills, an oasis with a lush green Poplar forest (!) and to top it all- a spring with a 30 ft. deep natural pool good for swimming. While you cool in the water- we’ll brew the coffee and cut open the watermelon…

Jeep tour of the Spice Route – full day

Over two thousand years ago a great nation of nomads, called the Nabateans, managed to find their way through the rough desert wilderness. The last part of their journey crossed the Israeli Negev Desert of today. While they develop incredible techniques for survival, among them – the digging of hundreds of cisterns, these people traveled over 1200 miles by foot with huge camel caravans. Where did they start the journey and where were they headed? What were they carrying that justified this unbelievable effort? Where are they today?? On our tour we’ll try to find answers to these questions as we follow the Nabateans in their footsteps. (Mitzpe ramon jeep tours)

Around the Ramon tour – full day

This day tour encircles nearly 360° of the Ramon Crater and is a true desert safari encompassing some of the best views in the Negev. Leaving from Mitzpe Ramon, we’ll first start with a short jeep tour of the Ramon Crater from the inside. Later on we’ll continue to the Nekarot planes, stop at the ancient Oded Wells to draw the freshest water you’ve ever tasted and stop for a lunch break in the shade of an old Pistacia tree in the Negev highlands. By now we’d have probably spotted some gazelle and a few onagars (wild asses). Our next stop will be at the tip of the crater – just where the two rims meet, for another perfect view, just as the colors of the day become softer. From there we’ll start our way back to Mitzpe Ramon while the sun sets behind us.
