Hank Williams Jr. Reveals 2023 Tour, Featuring Old Crow Medicine Show

Hank Williams Jr.  is set to play a 15-date tour in 2023 along with special guests including Old Crow Medicine Show in 2023.

In support of Williams Jr.’s recent album, Rich White Honky Blues, the tour will kick off on May 12 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and make stops throughout the U.S., including Tampa, Florida, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Irvine, California before wrapping up in New Hampshire on Aug. 26.

Old Crow Medicine Show will play a number of dates on the tour with more supporting acts revealed soon.

Rarely touring these days, the 73-year-old recently made an appearance at the Country Music Hall of Fame ceremony on Oct. 16, 2022, to give a speech on behalf of the late Jerry Lee Lewis , who could not attend his induction due to his ailing health at the time. Lewis died several weeks later on Oct. 28 at the age of 87.

Williams Jr., who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021, released his 54th album Rich White Honky Blues , a collection of blues covers, produced by Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, in 2022.

The past two years have been a series of tragedies for the Williams family. In 2020, Williams Jr. lost his 27-year-old daughter Katherine Williams-Dunning, who died in a car crash. Just two years later, the singer’s wife of more than 30 years, Mary Jane Thomas, died unexpectedly on March 22, 2022, from a collapsed lung.

Keeping the tradition of country music alive in the family, his son Sam Williams released his new album Glasshouse Children: Tilted Crown  in October 2022. In early 2022, Williams was released from a conservatorship placed on him by his father and sister.

Hank Williams Jr. Unveils Summer 2023 Amphitheater Tour Dates

Hank Williams Jr . is gearing up for a 15-date run of shows across the U.S. in the Summer of 2023. The amphitheater trek will kick off May 12 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and it's scheduled to continue through late August, wrapping with a stop in Gilford, N.H.

Old Crow Medicine Show are booked to open for the bulk of the dates, with more supporting act details expected to be announced. Willliams Jr.'s tour follows his latest album, Rich White Honky Blues , a collection of blue covers that the singer dropped in June of 2022. Producer Dan Auerbach worked on the project with the legendary country rocker.

Most recently, fans saw Williams Jr. at the Country Music Hall of Fame's Medallion Ceremony in October of 2022, when he delivered a speech on behalf of inductee Jerry Lee Lewis , whose ailing health kept him from attending the ceremony in person. Elsewhere, the country legend has been focusing on family: He recently cleared his schedule to attend "Grandparents Day" at his grandchildren's school.

The younger generations of the Williams clan are continuing the "Family Tradition" of making country music on their own terms: The singer's son, Sam Williams, dropped a project titled  Glasshouse Children: Tilted Crown in October. The younger Williams also came out as gay at the end of 2022.

It’s no longer Hank Williams Jr. to you, good sir. It’s Country Music Hall of Famer Hank Williams Jr., who will be taking his show out on tour in 2023 for select dates, and bringing Old Crow Medicine Show along with him. Hank Jr. is not one for touring very much these days. He’d rather spend his time in a deer blind or out on a dock as opposed to doing just about anything else. But he’s always good for a couple of weeks of tour dates each year to keep the money rolling in, and to keep the fans happy. We already knew he was headlining Under The Big Sky Fest in his old haunt of Montana this mid July. But on Tuesday (1-10), he dropped a slew of new tour dates for the upcoming year. You know we’ll get a rockin’ show from Rockin’ Randall Hank, but a question a few Hank Jr. fans will have is if he will showcase any of the blues material that he recorded with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys on the 2022 album Rich White Honky Blues . Aside from a couple of secret shows he played at the American Legion Post 82 in Nashville, Hank Jr. did not tour behind the record at all. We’ll have to see if a blues set makes its way into the mix, and the pairing with Old Crow Medicine Show makes for interesting conversation too. Hank Jr. evidently has an extremely diverse fan base–as in Irvine, Calif. to Bangor Maine!

Yet there are no shows in the NYC area. That’s what stinks about being a country music fan living in central NJ.

Interesting choice for an opening act, too. I may have to get tickets for this one. I saw him years ago. He was wasted and entertaining in every way but musically. 🙂

What’s wrong with Deer Creek? Buffett gave a great concert there, on a gorgeous full moon, June evening. We decided to introduce our 10 year old son to the “concert scene” that night. Perfect night to be up on the lawn on a blanket. Kicked back, laughing and having a good time with neighboring concert goers.

Great venue.

And if Hank, Jr. decides to come to his job, totally trashed and being an ass, concert goers aren’t going to be hemmed in by 4 walls. They can pick up their lawn party and hit the road.

If anyone hasn’t ever heard the infamous ‘trashed’ Hank Jr soundboard audio from the Kansas City show in the early 90’s, look it up. It’s on Youtube.

I’ve never had an opportunity to see Hank Jr live. So I always hope for a date in my area in Canada. He only comes here to hunt, I guess.

What, is Thunderbird Fistfucker too busy to open the shows? Nothing like a rich boomer blues singer to get the crowd pumped up!

I hope I’m wrong, but at this stage of the game I’m guessing these performances will be sloppy, self indulgent and self aggrandizing. And if he hauls out the Thunderhead Hawkins schtick, lewd and rude as well. Nice poster, though.

Saw him twice in the 90’s. Once he was great; the other time he was wasted, took off his shirt, and seemed to forget the words to a few songs. I no suppose you never know!

well, I got my tickets from ticket bastard and I must say that entire experience sucked like a mouthful of dry sand on a hot day. That is not on my list of things I ever want to do again, fees per ticket, then a processing charge on top of that… then… taxes too… no actual physical tickets, it has to be on my phone? I use a pc and a browser almost every day of my life, that experience was not intuitive, kept telling me I was picking the wrong seats… but according to the chart and the colors, it was available… So annoying… damn, I miss going to the record store and having them print out the tickets, I swear it would have taking me less time. They really need to break that bastard into pieces. But yay, Hank Jr. tickets…

Thirty years ago my kid sister’s date took her to a Hank Jr. concert. She told me that if it wasn’t for the fact that her date had paid for the tickets, she would have marched straight to the ticket window and demanded a refund! She said that apparently Hank Jr. was blitzed on something, rendering him incapable of doing anything other than sitting on a stool, head hung down, mumbling and giggling at his failed attempts to get very far into the songs he started. Is this any way to treat fans who’ve paid hard-earned money to come see you?

I laugh at some of these comments. I have seen Hank Jr about 8 times and never seen him drunk or incapable of performing. Now I do know that he has had some bad shows and has put on some bad ones that are legendary, but most of his shows have been great. The people that say talent skips a generation are laughable. Hank Jr has wasted more talent than the other generations have. He can certainly be cocky and arrogant but at this point what should we expect. Just because he isn’t considered cool to some of the Americana crowd, who cares. Hank Jr is one of the best to ever do it. Period.

Third row tix center stage in NH. I’m sure we’ll be more wasted than Hank.
