Hi, I'm Ellie - a presenter and events host. 

I present the travel news on BBC 5 Live's Breakfast and Drive show alongside freelance presenting across the BBC, including Radio 2 and BBC Local Radio. Previously I presented the ARIA-nominated, number one commercial breakfast show in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire on Viking FM. 

 I'm also an experienced stage and events host, working across a variety of events from company awards to music stages with up to 60,000 people in attendance. 

I have worked on voice over projects including radio adverts, corporate videos and online ad campaigns and, sometimes, you'll catch me in front of the camera too!

Meet BBC Radio 2 Presenter Ellie Brennan

Sometimes when you go to photograph someone you just hit it off immediately. This was the case when I went to shoot Ellie Brennan at Media city in Manchester.

Currently covering for OJ Borg’s Radio 2 slot, Ellie was great fun – as you’d expect from a fellow Yorkshire lass!

We swapped lots of stories, including one where she surprised Jon McClure from Reverend and the Makers at one of his gigs… He thought she wanted a selfie with him, not for him to take one of her and her friends as she hadn’t yet realised who he was!

I love this one of Ellie outside Media City, and eventually in amongst our chatter, we also remembered to find a plain wall to take one of the required photos in front of!

As this was one of my jobs through Loftus, I also want to share the portrait I had taken by James Watkins for my new profile on their team page. Taken on the stairs in Wogan House, I’m pretty happy with this one given that I’m much more comfortable behind the camera than in front if it.

Viking FM's Ellie Brennan announces she is leaving radio station

An emotional Ellie revealed her decision on the breakfast show

Viking FM's Ellie Brennan has announced that she will be leaving the radio station in March.

In an emotional reveal on their breakfast show, Ellie sat with her co-presenter Alex and told the listeners about her decision.

Ellie has been at Viking FM for four years now and feels like it is time for her to embark on a new challenge.

Since starting in January 2018, Ellie has become a fan favourite and will be sorely missed by her listeners.

On air, Ellie said: "I'm going to be honest, this is quite hard for me to say because I love doing this show everyday with Alex, but I've decided that it is the right time for me to leave the breakfast show.

"I don't want to get emotional now, because I'm not leaving until the end of March, so we've got a few months before I can start crying and telling you that I love you."

Jokingly, Alex interjected: "I thought you were announcing you were getting your hair coloured! What's this!?"

Ellie continued: "I'm here until March, so we've got a couple of months where we're going to have just the best time as usual.

"I love this show, I love working at Viking, it's been an absolute joy and we have so much fun."

Ellie finished by telling Alex: "I wanted to tell you now because I've given you ample time to plan a really good leaving do for me, so if you could just get working on that!"

Speaking to Hull Live, Ellie said: "I will miss the stories we hear from listeners every day that crack us up, there has not been a day at work that I haven't laughed.

"I’ll really miss working with Alex who has become one of my best mates - I’m really proud of what we have done together.

"Especially our parody songs… No Fair Compares 2 U that we wrote about Hull Fair being cancelled last year is a particularly fave!!"

Speaking about her best moments on Viking FM, Ellie said: "The things we’ve done with our listeners, like when we took a full ship of people to Amsterdam on P&O Ferries and put on a huge game show and party.

"Or when we celebrated the last World Cup together at Sutton Fields pub or the year we put on a Christmas party at Firepit in Beverley and had a couple of hundred listeners doing karaoke with us.

"I’ve laughed every single day… and not many people can say when they went on holiday, an international pop star stood in for them. Thanks again Calum Scott!"

Fans of Ellie and Alex were understandably upset, with many taking to social media to wish Ellie all the best for her future.

Jayne said: "Oh no!! The mornings won’t be the same without the two of you making us giggle. Whatever lies ahead for you Ellie, I wish you all the very best.

"It’s been absolutely amazing to have your sparkle in our lives! Good luck with your next venture."

Jade added: "No Ellie, you're not allowed. You and Alex make this show."

Lynda said: "Aww Ellie. Sad that you are leaving you will be so missed. Wishing you every success and happiness for your future. Lots of love."

Amy tried to see the funny side, saying: "Alex you will have to pull your weight in a morning now haha! Going to miss you Ellie! Dynamic duo!"

Ellie returned to the Viking FM studio in December after she had been ill with Covid-19.

She has openly spoken of her struggles since being diagnosed with Long Covid, which left her feeling 'nauseous and fatigued'.
