Earth Treks Climbing and Fitness offers are state-of-the-art indoor climbing gyms located Maryland, Virginia and Colorado. Opening its doors in 1997, Earth Treks Columbia was the first facility in operation. Since then four other locations across the United States have opened. Each gym is among the largest in the country, with plenty of climbing for every ability. Earth Treks offers indoor climbing instruction, private instruction and parties, youth programs and teams, outdoor climbing and guiding, group fitness, personal training, and yoga. Additionally, each facility has a retail and gear shop.

This Movement gym is for bouldering, not rock climbing, as I expected (and also how Google has it labeled). I've been to earth trek before (old name for movement) where I actually rock climbed. What's the difference you wonder? Higher climbing and you use a harness. I also find it easier. Three stars because the place is clean and the staff is nice. I also liked the gym portion with the Woodway treadmills.

This is an indoor rock climbing (bouldering) gym located in Hampden right off I83. They have opportunities for every fitness level! I took my parents in their 60s who have never rock climbed and they were able to climb up the wall with no problem. The center offers free tours which we took advantage of. We also did the intro to bouldering course which was really great for learning techniques to climb as well as keeping yourself safe. The instructor took time to observe each of us and give tips and adjustments. It was great that we also had free time afterwards to try any climbs we wished to! The walls change every few weeks which keeps things interesting. There are new climbs towards the back of the gym that are ungraded so you can try any climb without knowing the difficulty level. We came on a Thursday night and the place was hopping! Perhaps a early weeknight would be quieter if you'd prefer that. I can't wait to come back!

VIntro--start here if you are new to bouldering

Friendly and fun fitness. People come first at this place. Climbing walls are fun and yoga teachers are kind.

BEST earth treks out there! This gym has no top rope just bouldering, and offers a fun technical climb and warm staff.

This is a brand new Earthtreks climbing gym. It's only bouldering though. No rope climbing. The walls are Walltopia, just like ET Columbia and Crystal City. The bouldering problems are for all levels. They have a yoga room and a decent sized workout area. Plenty of parking. It's right next The Creamery and Union Craft Brewing.

We tested out Earth Treks on a rendezvous night, under a friend's day pass. I was blown away by how much there was to explore inside. I had no idea Earth Treks offered so much more beyond just climbing. There was a massive store & greeting area, a state-of-the-art gym & more, bouldering walls everywhere-pool tables-hangout area-dino challenge wall-and on this particular night a lot of local vendors promoting small business buys :) The climbing walls were amazing; they were so well labeled, it was easy to navigate for a newbie-also for as busy as it was-the layout was conducive to finding at least a few open spots. It never felt cramped. The staff were walking around ensuring the areas were clean and the walls weren't caking powder. I also enjoyed learning how frequently the boulder walls change out 'treks', and how some were un-labeled so climbers could provide feedback. Overall, I wish I knew how great Earth Treks was when I lived close, I will definitely check them out for future Day Pass adventures or rendezvous nights! (Also-super easy parking with the big back lot, great location next to the brewery, coffee store, and Charmery-you can earn a treat yourself night!)

Beautiful facility. I started as a top-rope climber, but I've been doing a lot more bouldering after I started coming here. I love the Friday night events when local vendors come out, and earth treks gives out beers after climbing. The environment is fun, social, and non-intimidating for the new or casual climber! Lockers are free and programmable, and the locker room is CLEAN and state of art (think dyson hand dryers attached to faucets). Super friendly staff, very open and welcoming. My only gripe is that I wish the student discount was a better deal! $2 off a day pass isn't a ton. Would love to join the membership, but it's much too costly.

Not sure if this helps, but the most economical way to get involved as a student would be our student membership. It's $69 per month. Cool joint! It's all bouldering. We went on a pretty crowded Friday night but everyone was really nice.

Great climbing gym, great atmosphere. Weight room also has almost everything you need in it, with 3 squat racks and one Olympic lift/deadlift platform. Locker rooms are huge and well kept. The place is beautiful overall in a great location. Coffee shop right next door, and brewery on the other side of the building. Highly recommend for any climber of any level. Enjoy!

Finally got my membership over at this location and I couldn't be happier. Once you join one of the gyms you can then go to any of the other locations. I go back and forth between Hampden and Timonium so I love the option of being able to travel to whichever massive facility I want! Hampden only has bouldering as far as climbing goes, but it's still awesome and has a state of the art gym area with machines. They also offer free classes to members and also paid Intro and trial classes who want to try things out before joining Earth Treks. You are also able to rent everything you will need, or purchase snacks and drinks at the gym. It can all be done wallet-free as they can link your purchases directly to your account via your scan badge.

Earth treks first baltimore city space will open in union collective, local climbing gym to take up 20,000 square feet of union brewing’s new makerspace..
