The five-year multiple-entry visa is available for tourists of all nationalities and has been available for the past two years, Dubai authorities confirmed to Khaleej Times on Friday.

Several Indian media outlets reported on Thursday that a new, five-year, multiple-entry visa has been launched for Indian tourists. The multiple-entry permit was first announced in the UAE in 2021 and the first visas were issued soon after.

To boost tourism from one of its top markets, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) highlighted this during a travel expo in Mumbai this week.

The visa, issued within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request, allows its holder to stay in the country for 90 days, extendable once for a similar period, with a total stay not exceeding 180 days in one year.

How To Apply For A Dubai Multiple Entry Visa 2024?

Suppose you want to apply for the UAE or Dubai multiple entry visa from immigration departments in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra (Western region). In that case, you can do so on the ICA website .

Whereas the GDRFA website will authorize the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa issued through Dubai.

However, it is advised that you use the ICA website for a smoother visa application process since the GDRFAD has some bugs on its website.

Application Process For UAE 5-Year Visa

How to get a UAE visa from India? To apply for a UAE 5-year tourist visa , it's quite easy if you follow these steps:

STEP 1: Access the website

Access the ICA website to start your application. Alternatively, you can access the GDRFA website to apply for a 5-year tourist visa for UAE.

Once you access the website, click on "Public Services."

This will give you a list of visas you can apply for. The box that says "Visa-multiple entry-longterm (for 5 years) for all nationalities" is the visa you want to apply for. Click on the "start service" option.

STEP 2: Fill out the application form

Next, you need to provide a bunch of information. There are 4 main categories of information you need to provide.

These categories are applicant information (name and email), personal information for service beneficiaries (current nationality, country of birth, passport number, and type), address inside the UAE, and address outside the UAE.

STEP 3: Attach the required documents

Next, you must attach all the required travel documents I mentioned earlier. These documents include a copy of your valid passport, passport-size photograph, medical insurance, bank statements, and any other travel documents they might ask for.

STEP 4: Review your application

You're almost done! Next, you need to review your application. This might seem like the easiest step, but it's crucial. You must make sure that all the information and documents you gave are correct.

If you leave out any documents or you make a mistake in the application form, it could slow down the application process.

STEP 5: Pay the required visa fee

The last thing you need to do before submitting your application is to pay the 5-year multiple entry visit visa UAE price. Online payment is secure, and you can pay with a credit or debit card.

Then, you can submit your application! And that is the visa application process for a 5-year visa in UAE.

Seek Help from Friends in India : Alternatively, ask your friends in India if they know anyone in the UAE who might be willing to provide the necessary contact information.

If you're unsure, I recommend you contact your local UAE Embassy or use the ICA helpline to be sure. This is only to help you so that your visa application won't be denied.

Important Note For Dubai Multiple Entry Visa For Indians

Though the Dubai 5-year tourist visa for Indian citizens is a great option, there are a few things that you should bear in mind. The first thing that will be slightly disappointing to many people is the success rate of the visa application.

Since this 5-year multiple-entry visit visa option is available to most nationalities, the success rate of having the visa application approved for Indian citizens is as low as 5% .

I have seen many cases where the visa is approved within a month or even a few days. This brings me to the second point about this visa. In certain instances, the visa can take up to 7 months to get approved.

However, your application will certainly be successful if you meet the requirements and provide the correct information and documents. And lastly, unfortunately , you cannot apply for this five-year visa using Atlys.

What is the UAE's blue visa and who can apply?

The UAE has announced a new long-term residency visa. Known as the blue visa , it will grant a 10-year residency to people who have made “exceptional contributions” towards protecting the nation's environment.

Announced after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid , Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the decision aligns with the country’s long-term goals of making the UAE more sustainable.

The new visa is the latest to be introduced in the UAE, following in the footsteps of the golden visa , which also offers a 10-year residency. A number of other initiatives, such as the green and remote working visas, have also been issued in recent years.

One of the country's leading recruiters said the visas offering long-term stays in the UAE had been a big success so far.

"The biggest benefit [of a ten-year visa] is that it has made it possible to live here without needing to be under the sponsorship of a company," said David Mackenzie, group managing director of recruitment agency Mackenzie Jones. "It gives you so much freedom."

The newly introduced visa will also go some way to not only attracting talent but also enticing those currently living in the UAE to extend their stay, said a leading sustainability expert.

"It will help retain talent because not everyone stays here for 10 years because they are tied to the standard visa, sponsored by their employers, which lasts for two years," said Ivano Iannelli, senior adviser for sustainability at Emirates Global Aluminium.

"Of course it will attract new talent but it will also offer an element of security to those who are already here. It shows the ambition of the UAE."

The National takes a look at who can apply for one.

Who can apply for a blue visa?

"The visa will be granted to individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainability, offering them a ten-year residency in the UAE, and is part of the UAE’s Year of Sustainability," read a statement shared by state news agency Wam.

The visa will be available to individuals who have made exceptional contributions and efforts in the field of protecting the environment, whether marine or land.

Work towards improving air quality and sustainable technology will also be rewarded, the authorities said.

Ivano Iannelli, senior sustainability adviser at Emirates Global Aluminium, says the new visa will help retain talent in the UAE, as well as attract it. Chris Whiteoak / The National

How can you apply?

"Sustainability advocates and experts who are interested in the UAE Blue Residency are invited to submit their applications directly through the services of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, or through nominations by competent authorities in the state for the individuals recommended for it," read a statement on Sheikh Mohammed's website.

Why is it important?

The announcement of a blue visa for contributions to protecting the environment is groundbreaking, said Dr Sultan Al Jaber , Cop28 President and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.

“The blue residency visa aims to attract global environmental leaders to contribute to the UAE's sustainable economic and social development," said Dr Al Jaber.

"It underscores the nation's dedication to leveraging advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to create impactful solutions.

"With a forward-thinking approach, these solutions will address climate challenges and transform them into opportunities for a brighter future for humanity and our planet.”

Dr Al Jaber said the blue visa was in line with the legacy created by the Cop28 conference, the UN climate change summit that took place in Dubai last year.

Cop28 President Dr Sultan Al Jaber has welcomed the introduction of the new blue visa. AFP

“The conference was a paradigm shift, showcasing the UAE's unwavering commitment to multilateralism, international co-operation, and developing a united global approach to the challenges of climate change," he said.

"This visa will build on that good work and will help further establish the UAE as a front-runner in the development of technologies, such as artificial intelligence, that can help address climate change.”

Attracting talent

One of the main reasons for the introduction of the blue visa is to continue making the UAE an attractive prospect for skilled people from abroad, who are considering their future options, a UAE minister said.

"The Blue Residency will have a major role in attracting talents in the field including innovators, and climate champions from all over the world, who will contribute to the advancement of the UAE’s work in fostering a sustainable future for all," said Dr Amna Al Shamsi , Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

Picture of Team Niyo

30sec Snapshot

Are you dreaming of exploring the stunning architecture, luxurious resorts, and vibrant culture of Dubai in the coming days? If so, you are not alone. The vibrant cosmo city is one of the most sought-after destinations for international travellers. Yet, before you embark on your journey, you need to understand the requirements and cost of getting your preferred visa.

How much does a Dubai Visa cost?

One of the first things to consider when planning your trip to Dubai is which visa you need. The cost of your visa will depend on several factors such as the purpose of the visit, duration of your stay and the number of entries required, etc. The below-listed types of Visas help you understand the cost and privileges that come with ease in your selection of the right visa:

Tourist Visa

A short-term single-entry tourist visa costs between AED 250 to AED 1,740 which is typically valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. You can also obtain a short-term multiple-entry tourist visa, a long-term single-entry tourist visa, or a long-term multiple-entry tourist visa depending on your plan and number of stays and entries.

The 5-year multi-entry visa lets you live in Dubai for 90 days each time you visit and the stay period can be extended for three more months. You will need to show a bank balance of at least $4,000 in the previous six months, proof of active & valid health insurance and arrangements for stay in Dubai, and a return air ticket will be required for this visa.

It takes 3 to 4 working days to process a Dubai tourist visa for Indian nationals, although express visa applications may be obtained faster. The tourist visa is valid for either 30 or 60 days. Suppose you are applying for a visa extension. In that case, the processing times may differ (we may have to explain a bit about this extension as well. Whether it can be done from Dubai, offline, online, through an agent, before the expiry or on expiry etc).

Visit Visa This visa allows you to travel to Dubai for tourism, business or to visit family. A visit visa is valid for 30 or 60 days. Transit Visa

A transit visa allows you to be in the UAE for a short duration of 48 or 96 hours. Typically this lets you exit the airport for a short window provided you have sufficient time to come back and catch your next connecting flight.

Visa on Arrival

If you hold an Indian passport, you can get a visa on arrival in Dubai if you possess a UAE tourist visa, which costs AED 120, a UAE residence visa, a Gulf Cooperation Council visa, a European Union or United Kingdom visa, a United States visa, or a Canada visa.

What are the requirements for getting a Dubai Visa?

Before applying for the Dubai visa, understanding the fee structure, documentation and requirements is crucial. Here are some key points to keep in mind before applying for the visa without any hassle:

  • Visa fees can be applied online, through authorized travel agencies, or at the airport upon arrival. It’s always recommended to pay through official channels to ensure authenticity.
  • The Dubai visa fees for Indian citizens can vary depending on the type of visa and the duration of stay. It’s essential to check the specific requirements and fees based on your travel purpose. It costs anywhere between – INR 6,000 to INR 10,000 or more.
  • Along with the Visa application, you would require supporting documents such as a valid passport, passport-sized 2 latest photographs, flight tickets, proof of accommodation, travel itinerary, and financial statements.
  • The duration of your stay in Dubai plays a significant role in determining the cost & approval of your visa. Short-term visas generally have lower costs compared to long-term ones.

Key Takeaways

  • Dubai visa fees vary based on the type and duration of the visa.
