Audrey Piacsek

Psychology / english major.

I looked at a lot of schools very similar to Willamette, but what made it stand out was the visit I had here. I loved the campus, Salem, the professors I met, and of course my TEAM hosts and all the teammates who showed me around.

Carson Herrick

Civic communications and media major.

I chose Willamette for a couple reasons. I was planning on going to George Fox for most of my life because that’s where my dad and grandma went to school. But I realized I wanted to get out of town a little bit and Willamette was the perfect distance away for me. I also meshed well with the TEAM members I met on my visit and liked the academic rigor that Willamette had.

Mcminnville, oregon.

After visiting and seeing the atmosphere of the school I knew it was the right fit for me. I am happy with my choice and I am glad I'm here.

Gabriel Regimbal

Bellingham, washington.

I chose to attend Willamette because I wanted a small school that would give opportunities to succeed and prepare me for law school. Willamette has also provided me the opportunity to pursue athletics in college something I didn't think was possible

Politics, Policy, Law and Ethics Majors

I chose Willamette for two main reasons. The first reason was the proximity of the State Capitol to campus and the extensive opportunities for internships and involvement with state politics as well as the PPLE department's reputation as a good undergrad program. The second reason was because I value running and Willamette was a school where I would be able to continue competing at the next level on a TEAM that encourages both academic and athletic success.

Exercise and Health Science Major

I chose Willamette for the Exercise Science department and when I visited I went to a TEAM lunch. I remember sitting between Emily and Hazel {two alums} and I just could not stop laughing the whole time. Goudy meals together as a TEAM are something very special.

Albert practicing blocks

Do Track & Field athletes train all year?

Yes! Sprint/Hurdle/Jump Training Blocks:

Fall Practice (October-Mid-December)- usually very general, about 1.5-2 hours. The primary focus is improving running mechanics, getting you generally stronger and faster. We are in the weightroom 2-3 times/week.

Winter Training (Mid-December-Mid-January)- workouts sent for you to do at home, tailored to fit your specific needs/equipment availability.

Spring Practice (Mid-January- beginning of May)- the heart of our season. For most- 2-3 technical days (blocks/jumping/hurdling), with 2-3 days of general workouts. We are in the weightroom 2-3 times/week

Summer Training (May-September)- general work similar to winter break training. The goal is to just keep you active, strong and healthy.

Is it hard to balance academics and athletics?

It is true that as an athlete, you have less time than the average student, but you also have a lot more support and structure. All practices are planned around YOUR academic schedule. We also have regular academic meetings with first years and anyone who is looking for extra guidance. Our cross country/track and field TEAMs have consistently had among the highest GPAs on campus.

What is the year like for a distance runner?

Summer Training (mid-June- August)- general training, designed to help you recover from your track season and build a base for the upcoming track season. It is our expectation that incoming athletes will be able to run: Men: 4 miles at 6-minute pace Women: 3 miles at 7-minute pace

Cross Country Season (September- mid-November)- 2-3 workouts/week (Tues/Thurs + Sat) depending on meet schedule, other days the TEAM meets up to run (Mon, Fri, Sun) or cross-train (Wed) together. We compete roughly every other Saturday.

Winter Training (December- mid-January)- very similar to summer training. Intended to help you recover from xc/build-up for track

Track and Field Season (Mid-January-beginning of May)- similar structure to cross country season. Workouts are more tailored to event area with applicable steeple work on Mondays

What throwing facilities do you have?

We have 3 shot put circles, a javelin runway and discus ring. We throw hammer about 20 minutes away at Corban University.

How do you feel about two-sport athletes?

We love having two sport athletes! Currently, we share athletes with football, soccer, and basketball. Coaches here at Willamette are very willing to each other to ensure that you have the best experience possible!

How effective are willamette university virtual tours.

It depends how you use them. Willamette University is a hustling, bustling campus and community. The beauty of Willamette University virtual tours on CampusReel is that authentic video tours, made by real students, can be spectacular at capturing the Willamette University vibe. We also go well beyond the confines of the Willamette University campus by taking you around Salem. In traditional virtual tours, you will mostly see still, unengaging images and will not see the surrounding area at all – which is why CampusReel virtual tours are so important.

Can a Willamette University virtual tour replace a traditional in-person visit?

If you cannot visit Willamette University in person, then we can honestly say that we believe a CampusReel virtual tour of Willamette University is absolutely the most effective and holistic way to understand the Willamette University people, campus and community. However, if you do plan on visiting Willamette University and other colleges in person, we strongly recommend that you at least prescreen your college options on CampusReel before spending the time and money to visit. Most prospective families find that as soon as the step on campus, they instantly know whether or not they like the school – but they’ve already spent all that time and money getting there! Our goal is to eliminate all the time and money visiting Willamette University in person until you can make a strong educated guess that it’s worth the investment.

What are the downsides of a Willamette University virtual tour?

The downside of virtually touring Willamette University on CampusReel is that, admittedly, our technology does not yet mimic the exact feeling and experience of visiting Willamette University in person. We are working on this though! A common request we also receive from users is to add more perspectives (e.g. student guides) to the platform. Rest assured we are working on adding more CampusReel guides to the Willamette University virtual tour. However, our selection of guides still far outweighs the available perspectives of traditional virtual tour platforms.

What are the benefits of a Willamette University virtual tour?

The most obvious benefit of a Willamette University virtual tour on CampusReel is that is can be accessed from anywhere. This can save families a lot of time and money compared to visiting Willamette University in person . Another often overlooked benefit of a CampusReel virtual tour is that it goes far beyond a traditional in person tour Willamette University . Campus visits are limited both in time and scope – how are you expected to truly understand a college in a 1 hour tour? That’s why we stress the added benefit of CampusReel virtual tours – experience Willamette University and Salem during different seasons, days of the week, and even hours of the day. What’s game day like? What is finals week life? Again, traditional virtual touring platforms don’t include this benefit.

Campus & Facilities

PNCA’s campus is centered on the tree-lined North Park Blocks in downtown Portland in a neighborhood that is home to most of the city’s art galleries and a concentration of design studios.

The Main Campus

Pnca’s arlene and harold schnitzer center for art and design.

The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design is a 100-year-old former federal post office we’ve renovated with a striking, contemporary design that brings natural light into nearly every working space in the building.
