Conserving the beauty, character, and diversity of significant lands in far northern California

Wildways_Logo_Black.png

The Wildways series of fundraising events connects people and places, offers education and unique experiences and is a fun way to contribute to the preservation of significant lands in far northern California.

Hosted by volunteers, all proceeds from ticket sales support Shasta Land Trust’s mission to conserve local land.

These events feature a wide variety of hiking, bike riding, and kayaking adventures, along with some other unique experiences tossed in. Come enjoy exclusive access on many of our protected properties, including some newly projected local gems, as well as expanses of open space, and other secret spots, all while supporting local land conservation!

Since 2003, volunteers have hosted Shasta Land Trust supporters at over 395 events! The success of the Wildways program has helped us permanently protect 39 properties spanning over 59,000 acres of working agricultural lands, water and wildlife habitat, recreation, and scenic beauty in our community.

The Wildways program would not be possible without our generous landowners, volunteers, hosts, sponsors, and the many supporters who attend. We hope to see you at one or more of these exciting events!

Don’t forget to mark your calendars! After purchasing tickets, you’ll be contacted by Shasta Land Trust in the days prior to your chosen event with details. We are continuously monitoring current conditions based on COVID-19. More specific details/requirements will be provided via email prior to events.

Wild Ways: Corridors of Life explores the cutting edge of Conservation Biology to discover how the world's parks and preserves can be connected and better function as the last enclaves of wild nature.

Today most wildlife remaining on Planet Earth are confined to designated parks and preserves. These protected areas, from the Serengeti Plains to Yellowstone National Park, are crucial - but they are fast becoming islands of nature in a sea of human development, which places these animals in danger of extinction.   Wild Ways: Corridors of Life probes a promising solution to the world wide fragmentation of wildlife habitat – Connectivity Conservation.

Wild Ways takes viewers around the world to some of the most dramatic natural areas on earth where conservation biologists are helping vanishing species with innovative solutions. We learn what elephants, lions, elk, grizzly bears, tigers, and jaguars need:  room to roam, neighboring populations for genetic diversity, and connected ecosystems that allow migration and adaptation to a changing climate.

Something rather special is walking out into the highlands with Masai warriors and their donkeys, get hot and dusty with the scent and sights of everything that the Ngorogoro Highlands have to offer.  Camp under the vast starlit sky where light pollution is unheard of, set your camera to capture the Milky Way once the camp fire has died down.  Experience the sounds of the wildlife all around, slow down and live that Discovery Chanel moment for a few days or a full week for yourself.  Ask us how to create this adventure just for you!
