He’s quickly growing a following as a new foodie channel to watch.

Schedule: Saturdays

How the best travel vloggers were chosen:

Like all lists, people will wonder why they’re not on it. I’m positive I missed some good ones, but this is very loose criteria I’d be using if I were hired to cast, produce or pitch a TV show. Creators did not need to meet all criteria, but most. – Programming: Weekly dedication, quality, storytelling & individual style execution – Audience: Niche, loyalty, & YouTube friendly – Blog worthy and/or binge worthy – Does it bring a new spin to the term “travel video” or “travel show” – Channel Personality/Talent: brand recognition, hosting & entertainment value

Five Easy Steps To Make great 4K Travel Walking Tour Videos

Last Updated on March 22, 2024 by gregor

4K Walking Tour Videos are gaining more and more popularity on video-sharing platforms like the popular video platform YouTube . I watched some of these Walking Tour videos because they were recommended to me, and as someone who really likes walking tours, I decided to try making one video myself.

My first 4k Walking Tour video(s) turned out badly. They were either too bright or too dark or kept constantly refocusing.,… They went straight into the trash on my computer. It was a little frustrating, but obviously, I’m not going to be perfect on my first try.

I was out again, trying different cameras and different settings, and after a few walks, figuring out what is the best camera for Walking Tour and what are the best camera video settings for filming this kind of 4k Walking Tour videos.

A 4K walk video often showcases a walking tour or journey filmed using a camera capable of recording in 4K resolution. These videos aim to provide viewers with a more immersive and visually stunning experience, as the higher resolution allows for greater detail, sharpness, and overall image quality. The term is commonly associated with content creators who produce walking tours or vlogs filmed in 4K resolution to offer a more lifelike and engaging viewing experience.

5 easy Steps to Make 4k Travel Walking Tour Videos

Ready to share your travel adventures with the world in amazing 4K quality? Here’s a super simple guide to creating captivating walking tour videos:

Step 1: Gear Up (Equipment)

  • Camera:  While a fancy camera is great, you can start with a smartphone that shoots in 4K. Many modern phones offer fantastic video quality.
  • Stabilizer:  Shaky footage is a no-go. Invest in a gimbal (a small handheld stabilizer) for smooth, professional-looking shots.
  • External Microphone (optional):  Built-in mics can pick up unwanted noise. An external mic improves audio quality, especially in windy or crowded areas.

Step 2: Plan Your Route (Pre-Production)

  • Pick a theme:  Focus on a specific area or highlight hidden gems.
  • Map your walk:  Plan your route beforehand, considering interesting sights and stops.
  • Research local tips:  Learn some fun facts or historical tidbits to share with viewers.

Step 3: Hit the Streets (Filming)

  • Walk at a steady pace:  People watching your video will be virtually walking with you, so maintain a comfortable speed.
  • Narrate as you go:  Share your thoughts, interesting facts, or personal anecdotes about the places you pass.
  • Capture variety:  Don’t just film straight ahead. Get close-up shots of landmarks, interesting details, and even food!

Step 4: Editing Magic (Post-Production)

  • Editing software:  There are many free and paid editing programs available. Choose one that’s user-friendly for you.
  • Cut and trim:  Remove unwanted footage or long pauses. Keep your video engaging and concise.
  • Add music and text:  Upbeat background music and titles/captions enhance your video and keep viewers informed.

Step 5: Share Your Adventure (Distribution)

  • YouTube:  A popular platform for travel videos. Create a channel and upload your masterpiece!
  • Social Media:  Share your video on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms.
  • Travel Blogs:  If you have one, add your video to your blog to showcase your destinations.

Bonus Tip: Be yourself and have fun! Let your personality shine through, and your passion for travel will be contagious!

Videos with 4K Quality

A 4K walk typically refers to a walking video or footage that has been recorded and produced in 4K resolution. In the context of video resolution, 4K refers to a display or content with a horizontal pixel count of approximately 4,000 pixels, providing higher image clarity and detail compared to lower resolutions.

A “4K walk” video often showcases a walking tour or journey filmed using a camera capable of recording in 4K resolution.

4k Walking Tour video cameras:

Dji pocket 2 + creator combo.

DJI2CreatorCombo_4kVideos

Camera settings (they are overall easy to find in the app and in the menu)

Image Quality: 4K

Frame rates:

  • – 25 or 50 (for slow-motion only – to be slowed down 50% when editing): for Europe (PAL in general)
  • – 24 or 48 (for slow-motion only – to be slowed down 50% when editing): for US (NTCS in general)

Personally live in Europe and I slow down everything that I shoot, only sometimes do I keep a normal speed, so my go rate is 50fps. Slowing down the video gives it a more magical look and will reduce the shakes from the camera

Antiflicker : auto

you need to set it before activating pro mode!

Pro mode: enabled

This will give you access to manual settings of exposure

Color profile : d-cine like

Note: only if you plan to color grade in the post (which I highly recommend), if not then stick to the standard

Shutter speed/ISO:

I always set it to Auto . You could fine-tune by setting it manually, but the AUTO Mode on the DJI is pretty amazing.

Pre-Walking Tour Preparation

Preparation is the mother of success! This is also related to the making of 4K Walking Tour Videos.

Define your Storyline for the Audience

Before you even select the walking route, I am really trying to find a good storyline for the audience, which I am going to tell as an overall “arching theme” for the walk. As we all know, telling a story is much more captive than just wandering around without any “preparation & plan”. (Which I did at the beginning, to be honest;-

Here are some examples of 4k Walking Tour Video Storylines

  • Vienna Night Walking Tour – Top things to see at night
  • Berlin – Walking Tour if you just have 4 Hours to spend
  • Budapest Travel Guide – Must See Places Walking Tour
  • Vienna Food Walking Tour

Find the Best Places that set your Walking Tour Video Screenplay

So once you have your “story” you want to tell, then you need to find the best places, spots, and areas,… Which do you want to be included in the walking video? Sometimes the story can be “Greatest Public Parks to Relax in XXXX” or just “An After Business sunset walk”. This story sets your screenplay and the frame you need to plan the walk accordingly.

Video elements that will support your Walking Tour Video Story

If you know you’ll be visiting the St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, for example, you’ll want more than just a video from the top. Here’s an example of supporting walking tour video elements you might make for this specific experience:

  • Establishing shot of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral from the street (Push in)
  • Shot of the base of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Rise up)
  • Shot of purchasing your ticket (Over shoulder camera)
  • Shot of taking the elevator to the top (Push in)
  • Panning shot from the top overlooking Vienna

Pin the places in Google MAPS to create the Walking Tour

Once I have my story I create a tour on Google Maps, pinning all the places I intend to visit during my walk.

Top Tip: Please make sure you plan enough time for your tour, get comfortable clothes and shoes, your gear with enough spare batteries (for the GoPro), and most importantly get into a good positive energetic mood, you will need that believe me 😉

Video Walking Tour – Tips and Tricks

Get out of your comfort zone.

Filming videos on the street requires a bit of courage at the beginning. Especially if you are a bit introverted like me, it took a couple of walks until I realized that the vast majority of the people actually don’t care about your video recording on the street.

Very few people stare at you, so give them a bright smile, or simply ignore them. I never had anybody complaining or even yelling at me. It helps if you respect their privacy and do not run with the video camera explicitly into a person, but take a step or move left or right so you can record other interesting sceneries like beautiful architecture.

There is also an easy way to blur people’s faces in post-editing your video. (More below in the Editing section)

Walking Tour Video Speed

The walking speed is important because you want to be able to see things that you’re not familiar with. The walker may have been through that area time and time again, but you haven’t.  Keep in mind that the speed of the walk also relates directly to the smoothness of the camera, as I mentioned above.

Video moves : I use during my walk

  • Push in – walk towards the scene – good entry move to establish location and show landscape
  • Pull out – walk away from the scene – good exit move to close the shooting from the scene
  • Round – use active track and move around the person or subject
  • Rise up – show scenery and subject
  • Reveal – show subject, from the other object – good for transitions
  • Tilt-up / down – use for anything interesting above the scene, like trees
  • Low mode – shoot for example the foot of a person while walking on the beach

How do you film a smooth walking Video?

Walk slowly and bend your knees slightly. Keep concentration high, and use the Highest Stabilization settings on your camera

FOUR – Walking Tour Video Editing & Software

There are many Video Editing Programs on the market. Editing my Walking Tour videos, I use the software program Final Cut Pro X which runs on macOS only. There are many alternatives also for Windows, if you search on Google, I am sure you will find the one that fits your needs; including tons of Tutorial Videos on YouTube.

Blurring People Faces in post-editing

The one thing special to walking tour videos is that you also capture people and want to protect their privacy by blurring their faces. Here is a video that shows you how to do this in Final Cut Pro X

FIVE -SHARING Your Walking Tour Video on YouTube

I upload my walking tour videos on my Gregor Sideris YouTube Channel . There are other video-sharing Platforms like Vimeo, but I think YouTube is vastly accepted and billions of people have access to it.

Three coolest experiences from the Travel Guides' trip to Hong Kong

As one of Asia's most compelling cities, could a week in Hong Kong be the Travel Guides ' perfect trip?

"It's probably the most exciting city in the world, it's up there with New York," said "holiday snob" Kevin.

Joining Kevin was wife Janetta, hilarious duo Matt and Brett best mates Kev, Dorian and Teng , the Fren Family , plus newest besties Karly and Bri .

Stream new episodes of Travel Guides on 9Now.

"I'm excited, I'm going to eat my body weight in dim sum," Teng said.

And that's exactly what they did – in one of Hong Kong's best kept secrets.

The Guides are surprised by a Michelin-starred yum cha

Hong Kong is home to more than 15,000 restaurants, dishing up grub from around the world. It's no surprise Teng had worked up an appetite.

Travel Guides 2024 Hong Kong

And if you're looking for the cultural charm of old-school dim sum, Lin Heung Kui is just the place.

In fact it's been serving dim sum so delectable, the restaurant has been recommended as "Best of the Best" by The Michelin Guide.

EPISODE 3: Three funniest moments from the Travel Guides' trip to Florida

Travel Guides 2024 Hong Kong

"If you see a table, you've got to get in there," Teng advised as they walked through the "seemingly chaotic" environment.

The Fren family were particularly excited. As the assortment of spring rolls, wontons and dim sums rolled out, their jaws dropped at the mouth-watering feast before them.

See for yourself in the video below:

"The food was absolutely amazing, so authentic, so fresh," smiled a very satisfied Brett.

Teng and Dorian get up to fishy business

From mouth-watering dim sum to something a little more adventurous, Teng and Dorian checked out the local cuisine while visiting a Hong Kong fishing village.

"I absolutely hate fish – the look, the taste, the colour, the feels..." Teng prefaced.

So when Dorian picked out what was hopefully the least "fishy" dish for the pair to try, Teng had quite the shocking response.

Travel Guides 2024 Hong Kong Teng and Dorian

"What is that?" questioned Teng stunned as the cook brought out the "kraken of the ocean".

"I am so sorry, Teng," Dorian laughed.

Did Teng eat it? Catch their hilarious reaction in the video here:

Kev and Teng pull off the ultimate stunt

We hope Teng didn't devour too much at lunch time because the next activity will leave you in stitches – the laughing kind.

Lion Dancing is a festival favourite in Hong Kong and it takes many years of training to master the skills.

Travel Guides 2024 Hong Kong Teng

"I just wanted to lift Kevin into the air, kind of like Dirty Dancing ," said Teng hopeful.

EXCLUSIVE: 'This might sound awful': The Guides spill their surprise travel advice

"You're so HEAVY!" Teng screamed as he attempted to lift Kev up on his shoulders while Dorian drummed long.

Did they succeed?

We'll let you decide with the video below...

What mischief will the Travel Guides get up to next time? Tune in next Sunday as they tour through stunning Canada!

Israeli tour guides say leading groups to October 7 terror sites is the only way for them to make money now

  • Amit Musaei, who survived the Nova Festival Hamas terror attack, now leads tours to the site.
  • BI spoke to four Israeli tour guides who say October 7 tours are the only ones in demand now.
  • They say it's emotionally draining, but they need to support their families financially.

Insider Today

Amit Musaei survived the Nova Festival terror attack in Israel late last year.

Now, months later, he's leading tours to the site where he narrowly escaped death, and where he lost three of his closest friends.

Musaei returns to the scene of his trauma at least three times a week, leaving him emotionally exhausted, all to earn a few hundred dollars a time to cover his mortgage, provide for his two kids, and support his friends' orphans.

"I'm in a situation where I need to make a living," he told Business Insider. "I need to support my family. I was unemployed for over six months."

On October 7, 2023, over a thousand people, mostly civilians, were killed in Hamas attacks on Israel, with the Nova musical festival being the site of the highest number of casualties.

Israel retaliated against Gaza, which, according to the UN, has led to more than 35,000 Palestinian deaths.

As a result, many tourists called off vacations and major airlines scrapped flights to Israel, ultimately leaving Musaei and other tour guides like him without an income.

Musaei says two years of pre-booked tours were canceled, and that he now tries to make ends meet by leading the small trickle of visitors to the sites of the October 7 atrocities.

BI talked to four tour guides, who said this form of dark tourism is their only means to make a living.

It takes a toll, but they feel they have few other choices.

Danny Herman, who runs "Danny The Digger" tours, said he was recently hospitalized for high blood pressure , which he attributes to the emotional stress of repeatedly visiting the "death sites."

"I had no desire to go see them," he told BI. "But I did it as I realized that if I want to earn a living, this is the only product right now in some demand."

For years, Herman gave tours of the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, and other religious and archeological sites.

He said demand for these tours has practically dropped to zero, but he's fully booked for the next week with tours to the Gaza Envelope — the parts of Israel within about four miles of the Gaza Strip border.

"The last thing I thought I would be doing is these types of tours, which I call 'Holocaust tours,'" he said. "It's like going to Auschwitz or Yad Vashem, and it's something that I didn't think I would do, and I wish I wouldn't have to do."

Related stories

Herman said that tourists mostly want to bear witness to history, pay their respects, and maybe even volunteer.

However, he noted that there's no avoiding the grim reality, be it roadside memorials to those who died, the sound of artillery fire in the distance, tanks rolling by, or the sight of smoke rising over Gaza.

Ari Melnik, another tour guide, said that for some tourists, that's a draw.

"Some people would freak out if I told them there's bombing going on, and some people want to hear that," he told BI.

Melnik added, "Then, if they don't hear that, maybe they're disappointed."

While Melnik said he feels comfortable taking tourists to the area bordering Gaza and educating them on recent events, he is uncomfortable with certain facets of the tours.

He said he's unsure how to respectfully show people the kibbutzim, with their burned-out houses and cars , conscious that victims don't want their community to become "a zoo."

"It's not a question of if to go there; it's a question of how to go there," he said.

Another source of discomfort, he said, is how much to charge.

Though Melnik said he's been hemorrhaging money for months, he lets those on the tour decide how much to pay.

"I have been flexible because I haven't even felt sure I feel comfortable charging money for this," he said.

Another tour guide, Slava Bazarsky, solicits donations to the local kibbutzim while charging a participation fee.

He'd rather not charge, but he said he has no choice.

"In order to survive, you have to do something," he told BI.

He added: "Whether you like it or not, you have family, you have kids. It's uncomfortable, unpleasant, and hard, but you have to do it."

Even after pivoting, he says his business is still struggling.

Bazarsky said he has "barely 10%" of the bookings for tours he had this time last year.

Bazarsky said that even if there were more demand and more tourists, he'd have to limit the number of tours he gives because it would be too traumatic to do too regularly.

But for Musaei, the survivor-turned-tour guide, going several times a week has given him unexpected solace.

"It's therapy for me to overcome my trauma," he said. "Every time I share my story, it's another opportunity to process it."

Bob Eckstein Has the Perfect Museum for You

Is the Mob Museum on your list? The writer and illustrator sees his new guide to North America’s museums as a way to help families plan their summer vacations.

An illustration depicts a smiling middle-aged man with gray hair and warm brown eyes, wearing a green sweater.

By Amy Virshup

“When they first go to museums, the first two things people want to know is, where’s the gift shop and where’s the bathroom?” said the writer and illustrator Bob Eckstein, 61, whose new book, “Footnotes From the Most Fascinating Museums,” is an illustrated field guide to North America’s cultural and historical repositories.

He envisions families using it as their “summer vacation bucket list” to discover the riches available at institutions as various as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Hollywood Cars Museum in Las Vegas (home of a General Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard” ) and the Wenham Museum in Massachusetts, where the collection includes 1,000 dolls and more than 600 mechanical toys dating to 1780.

A born New Yorker who lives not far from the Met Cloisters in Upper Manhattan, Mr. Eckstein started with a hit list of 150 museums that was eventually whittled to the 75 that appear in the book. He spent a little over a year visiting the institutions to photograph and sketch them and collect stories from curators, guides and visitors.

His illustrations capture the feeling of walking through galleries or pausing to consider an artwork like “Watson and the Shark,” by John Singleton Copley, from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (his wife, the artist Tamar Stone , is the woman reading the wall label to the painting’s right). While working on the book, Mr. Eckstein said, “I would take photographs, I would do a little bit of sketching and then I would do the illustrations back in my studio and try to make the museum as sexy, as exciting as could be.”

This conversation has been edited for length and clarity.

“Sexy” and “exciting” might not be everyone’s first descriptions of museums.

I get so exhilarated going to museums and I was not a museum person, let’s say, 20 years ago. I went to museums, but now I’m obsessed with museums. I get so excited to see what I’m going to see. I saw more artwork in the last two years than most people see in a lifetime. My head is filled with inspiration.

As a traveler, when you go to a city, do you always go to museums?

It is one of the things I’ll do, yes. One of the first things I’ll check out is what’s going on in the way of exhibits and shows to make sure that there’s nothing I’m going to miss.

Have you ever discovered a museum that you really fell in love with?

For the book, I went to Los Angeles with a list of museums that I wanted to check out, unaware that there was this one museum called the Museum of Jurassic Technology, and that became my favorite museum. I can’t say much about it except to say that it’s a total mystery and if I share any more it might ruin the experience for someone else. It’s one of the most mind-boggling museums I went to. I like to say it’s like the Andy Kaufman of museums.

There’s certainly a wide variety of museums in the book, from the Museum of Bad Art to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. How did those get on the list?

There were many factors that made a museum make the cut. One of them would be simply entertainment value, making sure that there was a museum for everyone and understanding that not everyone’s going to have a taste for fine art. I wanted to have everyone see that there’s a museum out there for them.

Your own encounters with museums did not start well.

As a kid, I think everyone who was brought to their first museum has some of that resistance where they kind of go kicking and screaming. In my case, my mom took me to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and it was kind of dry and there was a lot of reading and it wasn’t exactly exciting.

What can make a kid go from a museum hater to a museum lover?

I think their first exciting museum experience in most cases is the American Museum of Natural History . There’s less reading, it’s too dark to read. I think museums like that quickly turn around a child’s perspective of what’s fun. There’s nothing more exciting than seeing the stuffed grizzly bear just 12 feet away from you.

For most of the museums you provide a story about someone’s personal connection to it, like the woman whose autoworker father took her to a van Gogh show at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The stories were very important to the whole book because they make it come alive. The artwork in museums, that’s what people expect, but what people don’t expect is that there’s all this drama happening in museums, different things that could happen with people and their relationships.

How did you select these stories?

It was a hard decision to say what are the best stories, but of course some were similar. You can only have so many stories of people proposing in a museum.

Is proposing in a museum a popular thing to do?

It is. At MASS MoCA there’s this one room that’s an installation of light. And it’s lit up in a way that makes the horizon line disappear like you’re floating on a cloud.

The James Turrell ?

Yes. And everyone who goes into that room is asked to please put on protective shoewear to go over their shoes, because the whole room is one piece of art. The people who give out the protection know that someone’s ready to propose when they ask for a third piece to put on one of their knees.

The Frick Collection explained that their rug was worn out in certain spots, and that’s how they could tell which were the most popular pieces of artwork, from the wear and tear.

You include the Mütter medical museum in Philadelphia and I was a little frightened by your description of the “jars of wet specimens.” I assume those are organs and things like that.

Well you should be petrified. It’s like a “Fear Factor” museum. If you’re into medical history though, it’s a must-go-to. And it is a museum, for the obvious reasons, that kids enjoy going to.

Being grossed out and scared?

Exactly. For most kids. For me, I’d rather go to the automobile museum, but that’s because I’m a wuss.

Open Up Your World

Considering a trip, or just some armchair traveling here are some ideas..

52 Places:  Why do we travel? For food, culture, adventure, natural beauty? Our 2024 list has all those elements, and more .

Port Antonio, Jamaica:  The Grammy-nominated D.J. and music producer Diplo recommends spots in a city he loves  on Jamaica’s northeast coast. A dance party makes the cut.

New Mexico:  The Gila Wilderness, home to wolves, mountain lions and other wildlife, marks a century as a “land lab,”  where nature thrives as far as the eye can see.

Greece:  Is Serifos the perfect Greek island? A writer’s checklist included ferry service, great beaches and good local restaurants.

Brooklyn:  This 36-hour itinerary  skips the most touristy and overdeveloped areas, including Williamsburg and Dumbo, and requires no restaurant reservations or advance planning.

Costa Rica:  Travelers are signing up for phone-free tours to try to escape technology’s tether on daily life. But would it make for a better experience ?

Best MLB stadium tours: Go behind the scenes at these ballparks

“Life is an adventure, it’s not a package tour.”  – German philosopher Eckhart Tolle

If you enjoy going on “package tours” of historic mansions, foreign cities or fascinating museums, why not take a tour at a Major League Baseball stadium? We won’t tell Tolle, but let’s consider such a guided tour our own little “adventure.”

While it varies by venue, such tours typically lead you through the clubhouse, press box, workout facilities, batting cages under the stands, a dugout … and some will even allow you to walk onto the playing field. If the team has its own museum, those are likely to be included. The Atlanta Braves, for instance, include a curated look at their exceptional Monument Garden at Truist Park when you take one of their tours.

When planning a tour of a Major League ballpark, keep several things in mind:

Pro Tip No. 1: For the most behind-the-scenes experiences, go when the team doesn’t have a home game.

Follow every MLB game: Latest MLB scores, stats, schedules and standings.

You will often see notices listing features you won’t be able to see when there is a game that day. So even though you are likely to pay the same whether such access is permitted or denied, you’ll get more for your money when the team is on the road, or has an off-day during a homestand.

Pro Tip No. 2  Hurry to visit an older ballpark. You might not get another chance.

Derrick Sloboda of Fort Wayne, Indiana considers himself quite fortunate that he took a tour at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park before it was demolished. The Giants had already moved closer to downtown at what is now called Oracle Park, and the 49ers were about to move south to Santa Clara, so Candlestick was in its final weeks.

“The guide extended the tour by an hour because so many people were saying ‘good bye,’ (so) we had half hour on the field, which was great,” recalls Sloboda.

Keep in mind that the main purpose of taking a guided tour is to create memories, and once that venue is gone, those memories will be even more special to you.

Pro Tip No. 3: Try to overlook the high prices

Typically the money you pay for the tour goes to a charity or “foundation” operated by the team, or one that’s meaningful to the ownership. The prices can be pretty high (VIP Tours at some parks top $500), but you’ll get to visit parts of the facility that fans rarely get to see.

So rather than focusing on what it costs, think about the charity your purchase is supporting. And appreciate that you and your family are getting to experience the places where your favorite players do their work.

It’s hard to put a price tag on that.

Join us now for our ranking of the five MLB parks with the best tours (OK, I’m cheating by including six!), based partially on the experiences of visitors to my BaseballParks.com site.

1. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles

While other teams might offer you one or two options of tours, the Dodgers provide 11 ! These range from the standard walking stadium tour ($30, and kids and seniors are $25), to the pregame tour of landmarks within the ballpark ($45), to the "Take the Field Tour" where you can play catch in the outfield ($175, only on non-game days – bring your glove!) all the way to the $500 VIP Tour that includes getting to greet the players as they take batting practice.

Most of these experiences include a tour of the Vin Scully Press Box, which is Holy Ground to me, because it’s where I actually got to meet Vin about a dozen years ago!

While on a trip to visit relatives in California, Dutch citizen Chris Kabout thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Chavez Ravine. “The tour showed you the press boxes, old locker rooms, showcases with trophies, gold gloves, retired jerseys, the dugout and you were allowed to walk on the dirt,” he recalls.

The Netherlands resident added that the tour’s guide kept things lively by asking the group trivia questions about the Dodgers. And considering the team dates back to 1883 as the Brooklyn Grays, there is a lot of trivia to discuss!

2. Citi Field, New York  Mets

As befits Citi Field’s reputation as a fun place to attend a game, tours of the Mets’ home have a decidedly upbeat and enjoyable atmosphere, complete with a sit-down history lesson in the room where post-game press conferences are held.

Like the Dodgers, the Mets offer multiple tour options – with varying prices. The public tour costs $25 ($20 for kids 12 and under) and will take you to the private suites, two of the season-ticket-holder restaurants, the press box and down on the field.

On days with a home night game, the "Grand Slam Tour" is available for $70, and that’s over and above the cost of your game ticket. This also permits early entry into the park to watch batting practice. If you want to get closer to the players around the batting cage, there’s the $250 All-Star Tour.

They also offer private tours, with the cost depends on how many are in your group. For instance, if you put together a group of ten, the cost is $62.50 per person.

3. Wrigley Field, Chicago  Cubs

When Wrigley was being designed 110 years ago, they didn’t make it easy to get from one spot under the stands to another. But that just makes the guided tours of the Friendly Confines all the more interesting.

The charge of $30 is reasonable compared to other parks, and whether it’s a gameday or not, you’ll get to check out the famous bleachers and go down on the field. If the Cubbies aren’t home that day, you’ll also get to go in the visiting clubhouse plus one of the dugouts … and you’ll get up close and personal with the iconic ivy growing on the outfield wall.

4. Yankee Stadium, New York

If you go on a tour here, you won’t be visiting the exact spot where Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig played – or Bernie Williams for that matter – because this version of Yankee Stadium opened in 2009. But you will be able to visit the monuments to Babe and Lou in Monument Park in center field as part of the $35 Classic Tour. It also includes the New York Yankees museum. There’s even a version of the tour that includes lunch at the Hard Rock Café that’s built into the ballpark.

One number you’ll see and hear often during any tour here: 27. That’s the number of World Series titles captured by the Bronx Bombers. They won’t let you forget it!

5 (tie). Busch Stadium, St. Louis Cardinals & Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City Royals

While one is a fairly new facility (Busch Stadium, 2006) and one is kind of not-so-new (Kauffman Stadium, 1973), they have more in common than the state of Missouri. Both the Cards and Royals operate exceptional museums that are worthy of your time, and their tour guides are among the nicest and friendliest in the sport.

The Royals have been operating tours for decades, and they have the process down pat. They offer three versions, and you can’t beat the prices: the Classic Tour costs $15; the All-Star tour is $25 (includes the team Hall of Fame); and the MVP Tour costs $35 (includes the broadcast facilities and the dugout suites). Don’t forget to visit KC’s excellent Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, just six miles west of Kauffman.

Across the state in St. Louis, the Cards offer two tours. The 360 Tour is a quick walk around the park and the dugout, showing you the view from various vantage points. It costs $12. The Classic Tour is $22 and includes a visit to the broadcast booths and admission to the Cardinals museum across the street.

Come to think of it, plan an adventure to Missouri so you can visit both Kauffman and Busch. The “package tours” sure are affordable, and you won’t get in trouble with a German philosopher!

White House Slams New York Post’s Claim Biden Froze Up During LA Fundraiser | Video

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

After the New York Post reported that a widely shared video showed President Joe Biden freezing up during a Los Angeles fundraiser Saturday , the White House pushed back and asserted that the Post is deliberately misleading readers. Rather than freezing up and needing to be led off stage by former President Barack Obama , senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates wrote on X that Biden was taking in the crowd’s applause as the event ended.

TheWrap’s reporter in attendance at the L.A. event noted that it did not appear to the crowd as if Biden froze up. Obama put his hand on Biden’s wrist, at which point he turned toward Obama. As the two walked off stage, Obama put his arm around Biden’s back. He did not appear to be leading Biden away.

Video from a livestream of the fundraiser, shared by journalist Olga Nesterova of the ONEST Network, showed more angles of what Biden was doing on stage during the event’s conclusion.

I recorded the ending of the fundraiser.. watch it below and ALWAYS FACTCHECK BEFORE SHARING NONSENSE https://t.co/SS2VoNIHVE pic.twitter.com/OJeKERWoSJ — Olga Nesterova (@onestpress) June 16, 2024

Here is the video that spread on social media, shared by people including media personality Piers Morgan, which the Post used to support its coverage. Morgan described it by writing, “So embarrassing. The Democrats can’t let this go on, surely?”

The clip was also shared by the RNC Research account on X , which is run by the Republican National Committee and the Donald Trump campaign.

Bates wrote on X, “Fresh off being fact-checked by at least six mainstream outlets for lying about POTUS with cheap fakes, Rupert Murdoch’s sad little super PAC, the New York Post, is back to disrespecting its readers and itself once again. Their ethical standards could deal with a little unfreezing.”

“By pretending the President taking in an applauding crowd for a few seconds is somehow wrong, all they’re really admitting — once again — is they can’t take on the leadership that’s fueling the strongest economic growth in the world and bringing violent crime to a 50-year low,” Bates added.

Biden, known to have a stutter, did stutter and occasionally pause during the event Saturday, but he did not appear confused. The president remained low-key, with Obama being the more energized speaker, though Biden did land several statements in a punchy fashion. He also told anecdotes that occasionally wandered, as both Biden and his opponent are known to do.

Saturday’s fundraiser raised over $28 million , making it the most successful in Democratic Party history.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillows?

Portrait of Amelia Jerden

As with mattresses , pillows don’t have a hard-and-fast expiration date, so the only truly honest answer for when to replace them is a resounding “It depends.” The basic rule of thumb — and what I’ve heard over and over from experts — is to replace your pillows every two years, especially if you have asthma, a dust-mite allergy, or sensitive skin. But a well-maintained pillow can certainly last longer if it’s still supportive enough that you aren’t waking up with aches and pains. Whether it has been two years or not, here are the main things to consider before buying a new pillow .

Above all, make sure your pillow is supporting your head and neck

Beyond comfort, the main reason for sleeping with a pillow at all is to keep your head and neck in a neutral alignment with your spine. And because you sleep on it for hours every night, your pillow will inevitably wear out over time. If you’re dealing with any kind of neck pain , it may be a sign that your pillow isn’t doing its job, especially if it has gotten too flat or compressed after years of use, says chiropractor Dr. Jordan Duncan .

To test the supportiveness of your pillow, you can try what Dr. Joshua Tal , a psychologist who specializes in sleep disorders, calls the “shoe test,” which was created by Dr. Michael Breus , a clinical psychologist and founder of the Sleep Doctor wellness company. “What you do is you fold your pillow in half, put a shoe on the back side of the pillow, and then let go of the pillow,” explains Tal. “If the pillow folds back into shape and flings the shoe off of it, you’re good. If it doesn’t, it’s kind of lost its ability to hold your head up properly.” (Be sure to use a substantial shoe and not, say, a flip-flop.)

Tal also mentioned another test he uses with his patients: “I advise clients to stand up against the wall as if you were sleeping — so a back sleeper would stand with their back to the wall; a side sleeper would stand with their side to the wall — and then rest your head on the wall and notice how far it has to move to do that,” he says. “Then put your pillow in between where you’re resting your head and see if you’re standing up straight. That’s the key: You should be standing up straight if you have a good pillow.”

If your pillow looks or feels very lumpy — a possibility for down , down-alternative, or shredded-foam pillows — that may also be a sign it’s losing some of its structural integrity.

Pillows can get pretty gross over time

Because you’re essentially smashing your face and hair into them every night, and because they’re not always washing machine–friendly, pillows tend to need replacing more often than other bedding, solely from a hygiene perspective. The main concerns are asthma , allergies, and skin: According to Melanie Carver, chief mission officer of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), the fabric of a pillow is permeable to dust mites, and after two years of use, your pillow can be 10 percent dead dust mites and their droppings. Icky, yes, as well as particularly bad for people with dust-mite allergies . Other potential allergy triggers like pet dander and mold can also be absorbed by your pillow and cause symptoms to flare. If you have asthma, allergens in your pillow can make your symptoms worse.

Pillows can also trap dirt, oil, and dead skin cells, and according to board-certified dermatologist Dr. Annie Chiu , all of these can be irritants for your skin — even if you are diligently washing your pillowcase . Chiu explains that a pillowcase won’t act as a complete barrier, so irritants in your pillow can still cause trouble, especially if you have sensitive skin or persistent acne .

Yellowing or stains can be an indicator that your pillow has absorbed lots of moisture — from sweat, drool, skin-care or hair-care products, or going to sleep with wet hair — and needs to be replaced.

How important is the “every two years” rule, really?

If you’re balking at the idea of replacing your pillow every two years, you’re not alone. Two years is what AAFA officially recommends — and just about every expert I spoke to echoed it. But my own informal polling of friends and colleagues and a deep dive into Reddit discussions on how often to replace pillows suggest many people aren’t replacing their pillows as frequently as every two years, no matter what the experts say. Ultimately, while you may need to replace basic fiber pillows even sooner than two years because they may flatten more quickly, pillows made of sturdier materials can last much longer. You should mainly be mindful of whether issues like asthma, allergies, or neck pain are getting worse the longer you have your pillow.

Keeping your pillow as clean as possible will help it last as long as possible

Carver told me that washing your pillow once a month in hot water (130 degrees Fahrenheit) can help remove allergens like dust mites. However, this advice only really applies to pillows that are totally washable — and in my experience, the majority of them are not. Synthetic-fill down-alternative pillows and down pillows are the most likely to be washing machine–friendly, so if you have allergies or asthma and want to follow Carver’s guidance, you may want to seek out those fill types.

Most memory-foam and latex pillows have only a washable cover since the foam itself usually cannot be washed. And a 2013 paper from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) found that foam pillows are just as susceptible to dust mites as feather pillows, so it’s still important to wash your pillow covers regularly. Memory-foam pillows are often recommended as allergy-safe since the foam itself isn’t a food source to dust mites the way natural materials like feathers are, but like other types of synthetic pillows, foam can still collect your dead skin, which feeds the mites.

You can sometimes clean memory foam by sprinkling it with baking soda and vacuuming it, as recommended by cleaning expert Jolie Kerr, to help remove dust mites or dead-skin buildup. And while some experts (including Kerr) say it’s possible to clean memory foam in water as long as you hand-wash it, I have attempted this and forewarn you that it will take a long time for the foam to dry. (This means you may be risking mold or mildew, so proceed with caution and make sure you’ve got a well-ventilated space and a fan to speed up the process.) For latex pillows, you can follow a similar process as with memory foam. Latex manufacturer Turmerry recommends vacuuming the latex and then spot-cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Consider a pillow protector

In addition to cleaning, Carver also recommends using an Asthma & Allergy Friendly–certified pillow protector to keep out dust mites and other allergens in the first place — they’re like mattress protectors for your pillow that go around the pillow before you add your actual pillowcase. But even with these precautions, AAFA still recommends replacing your pillow every two years.
