I had a great time at this venue!! Level 42 are my all time favorite band and to see them in this setting was great. I had standing tix near the stage and wasn't crowded in like in smaller venues.

Level 42 finally play SF

I finally got to see one of the most underated bands over the past thirty years. Had I not looked at the band website I would have missed this gem of a show. First off the show was poorly publicized to say the least. I did not hear a word about this on any SF bay radio. This was my first time to the Regency Ballroom and i must say what a great venue. It is the perfect size for a show of this type and I'm sure had more poeple known about it ticket sales would have been much better. I will keep checking to see who is coming to this venue. Great location with a very nice bar right next door. Level 42 was absolutely fantastic. I have been a fan since the early 80's and have all of thier cd's. A great group of musicians, played all the fan favorites.

level 42 were awesome when i saw them in the nokia theatre, new york on my holiday. The venue is great and the band were really amazing live!

Long time in coming!

I waited a long time for this group to tour the US again! The show was fantastic! This group still sounds spectacular and their live performances rival their studio productions. Mark King still is still (in my opinion) the #1 bassist of all time. The man can play, sing, dance, and chew gum a the same time! Mike Lindup's vocals are just astonishing and have not lost anything over the years. Pete Ray Biggin just brings the drums to life more so than any of his predecessors in the group! Nathan King in the lead guitarist backing vocals role just cannot be matched. Sean Freeman on sax was a pleasure to listen to. I am a fan of the original "Fab Four", but bands change/evolve over the years. The current make-up of the group is a great match all the way around and well worth the price of a ticket. As many other fans felt, 1.5 hours really seemed a little too short, but considering the tour schedule they are keeping I can understand them keeping things "brief". Mark and Mike staying on stage for a short time after the show was over to meet/greet fans was something many of us truly appreciated.

Great fun show, these guys are GREAT musicians and extremely fun. Enjoyed every moment!

Level was Hot!!!

The concert was wonderful. The music was good. The band was tight and I met a nice person afterwards in the VIP lounge. The band came upstairs and I got a picture with Mark King (to add to my collection of bassist). I couldn't have had a better time. I have seen hundreds of concerts but none of them I was anticipating seeing more than this one (maybe my first Stanley Clarke concert). Well this concert delivered.

LEVEL 42 --- The BEST band ever

If you are a Level 42 fan, or a living human being with a heartbeat and a love for music, then you would probably also agree that it was the best show ever. I have been a pretty hardcore fan since 1987, so I knew the words and music to every song. It was a dream come true....

I loved the show, Eighties Funk at it finest. The level of musicianship was amazing. They are one of the tightest bands I have ever heard live. Sounded great, nice venue, I would totally see them again. Club Nokia rocks!

Level 42 better than ever!

After 23 agonizing years, Level 42 finally returned to America for their 30th Anniversary World Tour. Unlike our U.K. counter-parts, who have had a steady diet of small venue shows for the past decade, Americans have either had to travel to Europe to see their beloved jazz-funk band, or simply wait and pray. 2010 brought Christmas in July! First an acoustic album as part of a 4 CD boxed set, then a US tour to slake the thirst of Level 42's long suffering US fans. The Regency Ballroom proved the perfect Level 42 venue. Small enough to be close and personal and large enough for the rockin', rowdy crowd to move with the music. Mark King lived up to his reputation as one of our planet's best bass guitar players, while Mike Lindup's phenom key boards and harmonies took us all back to 1986. Mark's little brother, Nathan, all grown up and a great talent in his own right, wowed the crowd with his guitar work and velvet like voice. Sax player and long time Level 42 band member, Sean Freeman, wowed the crowd with his energy and pure love of performing. Drummer Biggin did not back down a moment from his job of replacing the thundering Gary Husband. A simply phenom show with a phenom crowd! And to cap it all, Mark and Mike were a couple of absolute sports and stayed late to shake everyone's hand and sign autographs!

Level 42 Rocked!

No matter who plays in the band, with Mark and Mike...It rocks! They are still as tight as ever bustin out the old stuff! The drummer was a new kid, I believe his name was Pete Biggin... He was amazing! The usual amazing bass playing and funky sounds ensued for the duration! 30 years later... Still the best!

Standing In The Light, the much loved third album by Level 42, is available again on LP as a strictly limited audiophile gold vinyl pressing.

Level 42 – bassist and vocalist Mark King, keyboard player/vocalist Mike Lindup, guitarist Boon Gould, drummer/lyricist Phil Gould and studio-only whizz kid Wally Badarou – were, by 1983, well-respected survivors of the early 80s Britfunk explosion, but had yet to really break big. An unmissable live draw, they had yet to enjoy proper commercial success. Polydor could sense this and sent the group to LA to work with Larry Dunn and Verdine White from Earth, Wind & Fire, to add an extra dimension to their sound.

However, it was not to be an EWF horn and mysticism fest; Standing In The Light tweaked and commercialised the group’s sound without losing their uniquely British take on jazz-funk. Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind was the first single taken from the album and just missed the UK Top 40; however, the next release gave the group their first Top 10 hit and a taste of the success they would savour in the coming years. Living It Up (The Sun Goes Down) was their first Top 10 hit in the UK, and is a funk-based scorcher. As a result, Standing In The Light was Level 42’s first Top 10 album. It also contains the intense, political I Want Eyes, drummer Phil Gould’s favourite writing collaboration with Mark King, and five other examples of the group’s unique groove.

Standing In The Light is presented with scrupulous attention to the detail of the original UK first pressings and available in audiophile 180gm gold vinyl. Whether replacing much-loved originals, or adding to a collection afresh, these are a superior way to enjoy such enduring and influential music.

This beautiful Tour by Winnebago has been kept indoors when not in use in an AC/heated building. All of the equipment is checked weekly to make sure everything works properly. Also, the coach is jacked up and leveled to keep tires from having too much pressure on them while indoors for storage. All of the switches and levers worked properly. The first thing about any Level 42 concert you will remember is the loud and exciting intro, each tour it changes and is always a variation of the Thunderbirds theme, the band arrive on stage with Mark Kings Bass guitar shining its lights into the audience.

Now, be prepared for some banging Brit Funk Pop musical majesty. The setlist these days is a mixture of their well known chart hits, some 80s album tracks and some very early stuff, there is usually a surprise in the middle of the concert – last time it was an accoustic set, in 2014 we can expect some new stuff from the Sirens album also.

Usually with fantastic graphics, a L42 concert never leaves you short-changed with fantastic tight musicianship from the band, Mike Lindups keyboard skills are as good as any i have heard, Pete Ray Biggin is shaping up to become a world class drummer, with Kings Brother Nathan on lead guitar and sax man Sean Freeman, the band give value for money and always get the venue up on their feet dancing and applauding. Also Mark's humorous interludes make you feel welcome and comfortable.

They usually tour every other October, the next one in 2014, and play medium sized venues 2-4000 seaters, also regulars at The Albert Hall, The IndigO2, and summer festivals all over Europe. Go see em, you won't be disappointed.

Well what can I say, as always absolutely awesome and feeling totally entertained. The Blow Monkeys were great and setting it up nicely. Mr Mark King as always sounding amazing, crowd luvving it. I love the way that they all look like they have fun on stage. By the end I was on my feet clapping, dancing and singing along, absolutely roasting, no voice and sore hands, but all so worth it. Hearing everyone leaving saying how awesome it was. See u in 2 years boys for more fun.

have seen level 42 at llandudno hammersmith and barcelona and absoloutley great only snag played it a bit safe not enough new material although pete biggin more than made up for it but would have liked to hear more like the gig at indigo event where they really pushed themselves as a unit but hey ho now waiting for the next gig so keep it going boys and when is the next gig uk or europe

Manchester opera house was buzzing. I was just taken aback as mark king slapped the bass. Overall a brilliant gig. Bonus was i met them and had photos. Really nice people. I would recommend seeing them live. It will leave you spellbound. As a bonus the blow monkeys support them.

Mark & Mike and the team were outstanding. First time i’d heard some older tracks played live like “Heathrow” & “A Good Man In A Storm”.......brilliant. Mark knows how to work the crowd....bloody marvellous.

Our Dutch friends have got a real treat coming their way.

A night full of funk and beats. Another group I've seen over the last few years from the 80's and they still have it, top gig. Can't wait till the next time to dance along to classics from my school days

Country music‘s Alan Jackson is hanging up his cowboy hat, announcing his final tour dates while his health is “getting worse.”

“I’ve been touring for over 30 years, you know, played everywhere in the country and parts of the world and had a wonderful career,” he said in a video posted on X, announcing the final dates of his Last Call: One More for the Road farewell tour.

The “Chattahoochee” singer, 65, cited a desire to spend more time with family — in particular, his three daughters and his grandchildren — as he enters his “twilight years.”

“I enjoy spending more time at home and don’t want to be away like I had to be in my younger days,” he said. “I think it’s just getting time to start thinking about hanging it up full time.”

Another factor in Jackson’s decision was his diagnosis with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a genetic neurological condition that affects muscle control in the feet and hands. The condition is not fatal but can severely restrict mobility, according to the Cleveland Clinic . The singer has had to postpone shows in order to deal with related health issues , notably halting a multi-show outing in 2022 to deal with “health issues” stemming from the disease.

“Most of my fans know I have a degenerative health condition that affects my legs and arms and my mobility,” the two-time Grammy winner explained in this week’s video. “And it’s getting worse.”

“It makes me more uncomfortable on stage and I just have a hard time. I just want to think about maybe calling it quits before I’m unable to do the job like I want to,” he concluded.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member revealed his diagnosis in a 2021 interview on “ Today ,” explaining that he decided to make the information public because it was beginning to visibly affect his performances.

“I just wanted the fans and the public to know if they’ve come to see me in the last few years or if they come to see me in the future if I play anymore, what’s going on,” he told co-host Jenna Bush Hager.

“In some ways, [disclosing the condition is] a relief because I was starting to get so self-conscious up there, about stumbling around,” he said. “And it just made me nervous up there trying to keep my balance. And I look pitiful. So I think it’ll be good for me now to get it out in the open, and so if anybody’s curious why I don’t walk right, that’s why.”

At the time, the entertainer said he had no plans to stop touring but that his health condition might affect his availability.

Jackson’s final shows will be played from August to May in Boston; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Fayetteville, Ark.; Kansas City, Mo.; Salt Lake City; Oklahoma City; Fort Worth, Texas; Orlando and Tampa, Fla., and Milwaukee. Tickets went on sale Friday.

Cyndi Lauper  is retiring from the road. The “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” singer-songwriter announced a farewell tour Monday morning, setting one last national jaunt that will take her to arenas in 23 cities in North America this fall before she calls it a day as a touring artist.

Lauper did not release any statement explaining her reasons for deciding to do a farewell tour now, although she is expected to talk about it later this week as she promotes a new documentary about her career, “Let the Canary Sing,” that premieres on Paramount+ Tuesday.

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, which is being described as her first major road trip in a decade, will begin Oct. 18 in Montreal and end Dec. 5 at Chicago’s United Center.

Arena dates she’ll be playing along the way include shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 30, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Nov. 1, L.A.’s Intuit Dome Nov. 23, the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert Nov. 24, and San Francisco’s Chase Center Nov. 26. She will also be doing a non-arena show at Detroit’s Fox Theatre Oct. 24. (Scroll down for a complete list of tour dates.)

Tickets go on sale with an artist presale Tuesday, followed by other presales before the general on-sale begins Friday at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.

Opening acts will be announced at a later date.

“Let the Canary Sing,” directed by Alison Ellwood, which had its premiere at Tribeca last year, will begin showing on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada on Tuesday. That same day, Lauper will participate in a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood before attending a private local premiere of the film at the theater complex, to be followed by a Q&A. On Wednesday, she’ll be discussing the documentary and the farewell tour on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

2024 Tour de Suisse queen stage shortened due to snowpack

O rganisers of the Tour de Suisse announced on Friday that the queen stage of the 2024 edition will be shortened because snow-clearing crews have not been able to guarantee a safe crossing of the Furka and Nufenen passes.

The 151.1-kilometre Tour de Suisse route for stage 6, due to take place on June 14, was scheduled to start in Locarno and traverse the Nufenenpass (2,478m) with an alternative route via the Gotthard and Furka Passes.

Other alternatives such as the Simplon Pass to Valais could not be used because the Swiss Army is unable to secure the route on Italian roads.

However, organisers determined that neither route would be clear by race day and opted for a far shorter route starting in the Goms Nordic Centre in Ulrichen with the same uphill finish to Blatten-Belalp, a seven-kilometre climb.

"Safety is our top priority and this applies to the riders, support vehicles and spectators," Tour de Suisse Director Olivier Senn said. "Of course we are disappointed that the Queen Stage cannot take place as planned. But mother nature and the weather are beyond our control and we must accept that."

The stage will be just 42.5 kilometres long with 848 metres of climbing to Blatten-Belalp.

The organisers praised the Goms Nordic Centre for agreeing to host the stage start with such short notice. 

"We are delighted to have found an alternative start site with enough space for the entire Tour entourage so quickly," Senn said.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local organisers in Locarno who have been most understanding with our decision not to hold the start in Ticino."

As a result of the shortening, the prize for the first rider to cross the highest pass in the Tour de Suisse on the Nufenen Pass will now be awarded on the Gotthard Pass on stage 4. The prize will honour Gino Mäder, who died as a result of crash injuries during the 2023 Tour de Suisse .

The shortening of the Tour de Suisse stage comes less than a month after the Giro d'Italia organisers were forced to remove the Umbrail Pass from stage 16 at the last minute.

Miles Russell, 15, to play Rocket Mortgage Classic

Miles Russell already has finished in the top 25 of a Korn Ferry Tour event. Now he is preparing to play on the PGA TOUR.

He’s just 15.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic announced Monday that it has given Russell a sponsor exemption into the PGA TOUR’s annual stop in Detroit. The tournament will be played June 27-30 at Detroit Golf Club.

Russell has quickly established himself as one of golf’s top up-and-coming prospects. He won both the Junior PGA Championship and Junior PLAYERS Championship in 2023, then became the youngest player to ever be named the American Junior Golf Association’s Player of the Year. Tiger Woods is the only other player to win the award before turning 16.

This year, Russell became the youngest player to ever make a cut on the Korn Ferry Tour and just the second player under the age of 16 to make a cut on either the PGA TOUR or Korn Ferry Tour (Tianlang Guan is the other).

Russell eventually finished T20 at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Lecom Suncoast Classic, shooting 68-66-70-66.

Russell will be among the youngest players ever to make their debut on the PGA TOUR. The record belongs to Michelle Wie West, who was granted a sponsor exemption to play in the 2004 Sony Open at the age of 14 years, 3 months and 4 days. Wie West also became the fourth woman to play a TOUR event. Guan (2013 Masters), Andy Zhang (2012 U.S. Open) and Lorens Chan (2009 Sony Open) also debuted at 14 years old. Other 15-year-olds to play TOUR events have included John Oda (2012 Sony Open), Tadd Fujikawa (2006 U.S. Open) and Bob Pasanik (1957 Canadian Open).

Now, Swift continues her international leg of the Eras Tour, so you might wonder: given that Travis has some time off, will he be in Edinburgh for three days to see her perform again?

2 girls airlifted to hospitals after bus crashes into tree in New Jersey. Jaws of Life needed to rescue passengers

WEST MILFORD, N.J. -- Two girls had to be airlifted to local hospitals after a tour bus hit a large tree in New Jersey on Tuesday.

A day of fun came to a halt when a bus from Monsey Tours of Brooklyn crashed into a downed tree on East Shore Road, south of the Storms Island Road intersection, in Passaic County. 

"The tree was about six to eight feet off the ground, and that tree, the branches, they were cut but it was still on a power line," West Milford resident Anton David said.

Police say one of the branches from the tree broke off and fell into the passenger side of the bus. The windows were left broken.

Two girls were seriously injured -- one was flown to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, the other to Hackensack University Hospital.

"There was two girls that looked like they had some kind of head trauma," David said.  

Law enforcement officials say three other girls were transported to Chilton Medical Center.

"There was a gentleman that tried to get them out before the paramedics came and he was injured ... The Jaws of Life came and they were able to get the rest of the girls out," David said.

There was front-end and body damage to the bus. The roadway shut down for hours as police, sheriff and the Passaic County prosecutor's office investigated.

Neighbors say the bus initially went to the wrong marina and was making its way to the correct location when the crash happened.  

The investigation is ongoing.
