I camped for the weekend and wow, did I enjoy it - from eating the most delicious pizza and tilapia at the Restaurant to camping close to the river. As a nature lover, I enjoyed every moment. Ablutions were neat and clean. My highlight for the weekend was the river cruise that I booked through Thebe River Safaris - I was amazed that we could come so close to the elephants and other animals. And of course, the birdlife was also so amazing - a birdwatcher's dream!

We camped at Thebe River Safaris for 4 nights. The ablutions were clean and well kept. Our 6 year old son enjoyed the comfort of the pool, while we had the luxury of shade from a large tree. Most stands have shade, although not all. There is a restaurant and bar on site with free wifi. Also rooms, although we did not use it. We booked a game drive and river cruise with Thebe river Safaris. The cruise especially stood out. You take your own refreshments and can move around the vessel. Saw plenty of animals. We will be back.

Quite comfortable, beautiful lodge in Kasane, in Chobe National Park. Great starting point for safari tours in the park. We were picked up directly at the camp and it took about 15 minutes to get to the park entrance. We were there at the beginning of and were very lucky on both safaris (evening + morning). It was the highlight of the entire tour.

We had a boat cruise on the Chobe River by Thebe River Safaris. The Chobe River is famous for the rich wild life on its banks, but we have found the ‘cruising’ safari very different to the usual driving. We could see many animals, and, what was important for us, from a different angle from the water site or in different circumstances, like swimming. Most impressive was to see a swimming elephant. The crew of the boat we were on was extremely professional and they managed to follow the elephant at a close distance so we could see it very well. It was unforgettable experience!

The lodge rooms are spacious enough and have a huge bathroom. The room is equipped with a fan, mozzie net and air conditioning. Is immaculately clean. The bar Resturant is a basic structure but the food was good and the service excellent. The is basic but good enough to cool down. The game drive to nearby Chobe National park proves to be one of the best. Plenty of wildlife including lions, buffalo, hippo, elephant, impala, baboons, kudo etc... The sunset cruise game a different perspective to the animals and included crocs.

The staff were very friendly and the rooms were nice and clean. The food was amazing with a great selection of drinks. The pool is clean and well looked after, with a nice view of the river.

Guests can enjoy a fine meal or drinks from the bar and take a swim in the inviting pool if the weather gets hot. There is satellite television in the bar to catch up on the latest international news or sports. Thebe River Safaris offers daily morning or afternoon game drives into the Chobe National Park. All drives are in open-backed safari vehicles with open seats. Take to the waters of the Chobe River on a river safari cruise. Depending on the number of guests, cruises are either on our large pontoon boats which seat 40 people, or on one of our smaller aluminium speed boats which can seat a maximum of 20 people. Guests are welcome to take their own drinks on the cruise. Game is common along the river’s edge and the birding can be incredible during the summer months. Elephant are commonly seen as well as buffalo, kudu, bushbuck, hippo, giraffe and sable. Allow yourself to be pampered by the Nature's Health & Beauty Salon. Offering treatments for men and women, the salon is located at the lodge and provides deep-cleansing facials, manicures, pedicures, massage, tinting and waxing.

Thebe River Safaris is ideally situated for visitors to the Chobe National Park and Chobe River area in Northern Botswana. Our lodge and camp overlook the placid Chobe River and echo the surrounding bush with a rustic design. We are 12km from the Kazungula border and 5km from the Chobe National Park entrance. Our restaurant and bar provide welcome food and drinks and visitors can enjoy the sparkling swimming pool.

Thebe River Safaris was started in 1994 by Jan van Wyk with a single land cruiser. The business has expanded over the intervening years into a bustling lodge and camp in Kasane, Chobe. Jan’s original idea of sharing the wonders of the Chobe National Park with visitors has continued with Game Drives, Cruises and Mobile Safaris taking guests into the true African wilderness. The operation now includes Jan’s sons Jannie and Louie and daughter Franci.

INFO FACILITIES Thebe River Lodge is a family-owned lodge in Kasane, situated along the banks of the Chobe River. Thebe River Lodge offers suitable value-for-money lodge accommodation. The lodge has a large boma, bar with pizza oven and pool area. The family rooms and twin rooms on offer are situated around a courtyard. The rooms are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms. It is perfect for groups and individual travellers.

Thebe River Lodge offers Chobe game drives and Chobe boat cruises. Fishing can also be arranged.

Thebe River Lodge and Safaris is also an established mobile safari operator. You can request a private or tailor-made safari anywhere in Botswana. The wildlife of Botswana is abundant, especially in the Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park is one of Botswana’s best national parks as the area is such rich in-flowing rivers, the biggest being the Chobe River.

The water allows for excellent bird watching and attracts a lot of wildlife in the dry season. This makes boat cruises a fantastic activity.

Lodge accommodation at Thebe River Lodge Thebe River Safaris lodge offers a family room and twin rooms. All rooms are en-suite and have a shower with ample near-instant piping hot water. All beds are mosquito netted ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. 12 units are currently air-conditioned and the remainder will be fitted shortly.

Thebe River Lodge has a small number of made-up tents erected in the camp with twin beds. All beds in the tents are mosquito netted ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. Thebe River Lodge activities:

Chobe Park Game Drives Thebe River Safaris offers daily morning or afternoon game drives into the Chobe National Park. All drives are in open backed safari vehicles with open seats. What better way to experience the stunning wilderness of the game rich Chobe Park. Game drives are usually about 4 hours in duration in which time it is not uncommon to spot several of Africa's "Big-five" species. Elephant are very common as are lion and leopard sightings. The birdlife is excellent at the right time of year (summer - August to April) with many "specials" in the greater Chobe area.

Chobe River Cruises

Take to the waters of the Chobe River on a Thebe River Safaris cruise. Depending on the number of guests cruises are either on our large pontoon boats which seats 40 pax, or on one of our smaller aluminium speed boats which can seat a maximum of 12 pax. Chobe Day Trips For those who wish to experience the Chobe National Park but are short of time, Thebe River Safaris offers Chobe Day Trips with pick-ups from either Victoria Falls or Kazungula / Zimbabwe Border. We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana.

Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure.

I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with the elephants. I rode an 8 year old female, her name is not in my head, and it was magical. She loved her treats at the end of the ride and her trainer was a lovely man. We talked the whole hour and he taught me so much about these magical creatures.

Gertrude was always very prompt in replying during the planning process and very helpful with visa information. This trip to Africa was our first and we started with Kenya and a 10 day safari. We wanted to experience water camps and lodges as well so worked with Falcon to make that happen.

myself and my 13yr old daughter used Falcon Safaris for all our outings as well as airport transfers. Canoeing, Devils Pool visit and Elephant back ride. They were all fantastic especially Vimbai and Edna. We had an amazing time and nothing was too much trouble to sort out for us.
