Star Tours - The Adventures Continue: Every Possible Combination You Can Experience On The Disneyland And Disney World Ride

Every place you can currently visit on Star Tours.

C-3PO and R2-D2 in Star Tours

The Opening Sequence

First destination, the message, second destination, optional ending.

When Star Tours first debuted at Disneyland in 1987 it was an immediate hit. The first Star Wars theme park attraction made guests feel like tourists in the galaxy, far, far away, traveling to Endor before things went terribly wrong. Star Tours used a lot of cutting-edge technology at the time, but there was still a lot that George Lucas and Walt Disney Imagineering wanted to do they were never able to accomplish, like sending guests to different locations over time.

In 2011, Star Tours was given a major redesign and reopened as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. More than 20 years later, technology had advanced to allow the ride to use video rather than film for its simulator experience, which allowed Star Tours to finally achieve a previous dream. Star Tours is now a randomized experience, where every ride can be different.

There are so many different things that can happen on Star Tours now that having the same ride twice is quite unlikely. Its variety is what makes it one of the best rides at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If you’ve only been on the ride a couple of times, however, that means there’s a lot you’ve never seen. With the recent additions to Star Tours , that's even more likely, so here’s a rundown of everything that’s possible to see and feel on the ride.

As your speeder gets ready for takeoff you discover that your pilot is nowhere to be found. Instead, C-3PO, who had simply come on board to do some maintenance, is stuck in the pilot seat. From here, there are a few things you might see.

Darth Vader

Darth Vader in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Darth Vader and some Imperial stormtroopers arrive looking for a Rebel spy on board the StarSpeeder. When R2-D2 tries to fly off, Vader uses The Force to hold the ship in place. R2 then tries to blast Vader, forcing him to let go of the ship to deflect the blasts with his lightsaber. The ship escapes and goes to hyperspace.

Kylo Ren looking on in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This option essentially plays out the same way as the Darth Vader sequence, but it’s done with Kylo Ren and First Order stormtroopers instead.

Imperial/First Order Droid

Probe droid on hoth in The Empire Strikes Back

In the third opening option, a droid suctions itself to the viewscreen of the StarSpeeder and stormtroopers are looking for the Rebel spy. In the background, there are also stormtroopers investigating the Millennium Falcon. The Falcon tries to escape at the same time the Star Tours ship does, and riders follow it out of the dock and jump to hyperspace.

CINEMABLEND NEWSLETTER

Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

There are a couple of slight variations on this scene. The Falcon can be piloted by either Rey or Han Solo, and the stormtrooper look changes accordingly. In the newest variation, the ship isn’t the Falcon at all, but Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle.

Following the jump to hyperspace, the Star Tours ship arrives at one of several planets, allowing guests to experience variations on sequences from their associated films.

Obi-wan Kenobi walks through Tatooine in Obi-wan Kenobi

Arriving on Tatooine, the Speeder finds itself in the middle of a pod race. One racer explodes near the ship, causing its engines to get thrown and lodged on the Speeder. C-3PO wins the race before dumping the engines and flying off.

An AT-AT walking on Hoth in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Arriving on Hoth, the ship finds itself in the middle of a battle between the Empire and Rebellion. The Star Tours ship flies through the legs of Imperial AT-ATs before getting stuck on the edge of a cliff, teetering and falling before the engines get re-engaged and the ship flies off.

The Battle of Kashyyyk in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Coming out of hyperspace and seeing a planet of green means you’re coming onto the Wookiee planet. The ship gets involved in a speeder bike chase among the stormtroopers and Wookiees. Chewbacca gets thrown from his bike and hits the viewscreen. Then you fly through treetops causing minor havoc before heading back into space.

Rey flying the Millennium Falcon from inside the cockpit in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Jakku can be easily mistaken for Tattooine on approach, but instead of pod racing, you’re following Rey and Finn on board the Millennium Falcon as they try to out run First Order TIE Fighters. You chase after the fighters in pursuit of the Falcon, entering a derelict Star Destroyer. You briefly lose power and hit the ground, watching some scrappers at work before getting back in the air and taking off.

Rey and Kylo Ren lightsaber dueling in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

In a moment reminiscent of the original Star Tours, you fly right past Endor, but then find yourself above the oceans of Kef Bir. Ocean waves send the ship into the remnants of the second Death Star, where you must contend with some angry dianoga before heading to space.

Diego Luna as Cassian Andor in Star Tours

Once the StarSpeeder returns to the stars, the ship receives a holographic message. The gist of the message is the same, with a Star Wars character asking Star Tours to transport the Rebel spy to a secret location, and sending the appropriate coordinates. However, the message itself can be conveyed by a number of different characters listed below:

  • Admiral Ackbar
  • Princess Leia
  • Poe Dameron
  • Lando Calrissian
  • Ahsoka Tano
  • Cassian Andor
  • The Mandalorian And Grogu

Once the message has been received and the coordinates are given, you’re off into hyperspace once again to the next location.

Coruscant in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

As seen in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith , you travel to Coruscant, flying through the sky of the city and frequently going the wrong way and having to dodge to avoid traffic. Finally, you come in for a rough landing on a platform, that then lowers the ship into the hanger. One of two minor differences that can be found here,:in one version, the hangar is full of StarSpeeders, and in another, the Millennium Falcon is here.

The Battle of Naboo in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Arriving at Naboo in the middle of a battle, the Star Tours ship flies through the air before diving into the ocean. You go past the Gungan city before being attacked by massive sea creatures. Escaping from the largest one, you find the hanger and have another rough landing. One of two things can happen in the end, with the tip of an N1 Starfighter either breaking when the Star Tours ship hits it or the tip “breaks” the glass of the viewscreen.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi fighter flying toward Geonosis in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

One option actually doesn’t have Star Tours land on a planet at all. Instead, the ship ends up in the orbit of Geonosis, where Jango Fett attacks the ship in an attempt to kill the spy. Star Tours evades, but is then attacked by TIE Fighters, and the still-under-construction Death Star is discovered. The StarSpeeder enters the unfinished battle station, and then flies out, only to be met by Jango Fett again. Fett drops a Seismic charge but R2 ricochets it back at Fett before jumping to hyperspace and finding the Rebel fleet.

Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi

The finale of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the location of this possible outcome. With some help from Poe Dameon, you attack the First Order and fly though a cave of crystals that was actually inspired by the original Star Tours .

Army of Star Destroyers in the sky in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ends with an army of resistance fighters from all over the galaxy taking on the Emperor’s army of Star Destroyers. This segment of the ride simply includes the Star Tours ship as part of that ragtag militia.

Purgill flying in the sky in Star Tours

The one major segment not specifically based on a Star Wars movie includes Rosario Dawson reprising her Disney+ role as Ahsoka Tano. The section takes place on Seatos, and we fly among Purgill. It’s quite peaceful at first before Ashoka’s ship flies past and she asks for our assistance. We fly through the star whales and take on the enemy ships, ultimately saving Ahsoka with some Purgill assistance.

The original segments for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, which were all based on the Prequel movies, each have their own landing sequences, but the segments added since from the Sequel Trilogy and Ahsoka see the ship jumping to hyperspace one final time, leading to one of two endings.

Spaceport THX1138

Darth Vader in Star Tours

One option has the ship returning to the spaceport, where you previously dealt with Vader and/or Kylo Ren with stormtroopers, and nearly colliding with another ship before coming to a stop. The pilot of the Star Tours vessel that got left behind is seen angrily walking toward the ship.

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run exterior

The second option sees the ship fly to the planet Batuu , the location of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You fly over the Black Spire Outpost before landing just outside the urban area.

As of now, that’s everything that can happen on Star Tours. Of course, several of these segments were added years after the ride opened, so new additions to Star Tours as upcoming Star Wars movies get released are likely to happen.

But today, we’ll explore the outer reaches of the galaxy en route to the forest moon of Endor as we remember a ride so prolific, it sincerely changed the course of Disney Parks forever. STAR TOURS was more than just a cutting-edge E-Ticket thrill ride: it was a purposeful test to see if Disney Parks could become teen-friendly places where guests of all ages could “ride the movies.” While you probably already know the ending, you won’t believe the story that gets us there…

And it all starts a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Star Tours announces the boarding of the Endor Express, non-stop Starspeeder service to the moon of Endor. All passengers please prepare for immediate boarding.

Liquid Space

As is always the case with our Lost Legends entries, the real story behind Star Tours begins long before the interstellar adventure carried its first passengers. And like so many legendary Disney attractions, it’s tied closely to storied Imagineer and Disney Legend Tony Baxter. The creative force behind everything from Indiana Jones Adventure to Journey into Imagination, Baxter is revered by Disney fans for bridging the gap from Walt’s original crew of brilliant designers to the second generation who moved in in the late 1960s to prep for Walt Disney World… a generation who had experienced Disneyland as guests first , giving them a tie to the park that the original design crew just couldn’t have.

Baxter’s story closely resembles the one that many Disney Parks fans wish for: discovered by Imagineering when one of his college portfolio projects was seen by the right person, Baxter was whisked away from his part time job operating Disneyland’s Submarine Voyage, hired by Imagineering, and paired with Disney legend Claude Coats to design Florida’s version of the sub ride.

temareiser star tour

Their first issue was timing. At Disneyland, the Submarine Voyage would glide through the crystal lagoons of Tomorrowland – fittingly futuristic for audiences of the 1950s and ‘60s, for whom the technology behind submarines was as futuristic and mysterious as space travel. But as designers planned for Magic Kingdom’s 1971 opening, they recognized that submarines were no longer the stuff of “tomorrow.”

temareiser star tour

So the ride was relocated to Fantasyland and, under Baxter’s brilliant design, was recast as a cinematic underwater fantasy as told in Jules Verne’s famed adventure novel. You can dive deep into the full story of the sunken Fantasyland favorite in its own  Lost Legends : 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea feature that'll tug at the heartstrings of Walt Disney World guests.

But what has a voyage through liquid space have to do with an adventure among the stars? Stay with us…

Discovering gold

temareiser star tour

When Tony Baxter returned from Magic Kingdom’s opening to California, he was handed his next task: to fix “the Frontierland problem.” While legends of the Old West, cowboys and Indians, and The Lone Ranger had been all the rage at Disneyland’s 1955 opening, by the 1970s the public and pop culture had simply lost interest in the idling, dusty past. Frontierland needed a new lease on life, and Baxter had a plan.

In fact, he crafted an entirely new narrative that would extend Frontierland’s story and excite a new generation. At the intersection of Fantasyland and Frontierland, Baxter planned for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a wild runaway mine train adventure through glimmering gold mines that would add excitement and kinetic energy to the park. But that wasn't all. Designers posed a thoughtful question: “What would those 1860s miners do with the gold they found in Big Thunder Mountain?” Would they settle down in the sleepy town of Frontierland and bask in their newfound riches? Of course not! They’d continue on westward with their fresh fortunes and establish a bustling city of wonders on the coast!

temareiser star tour

Which is why this intersection of Fantasy and Frontier would now act as a portal into an entirely new themed land on the north shore of the Rivers of America: Discovery Bay. A sort of fantasy, steampunk version of San Francisco in the late 1800s, this harbor of golden rocks, glass towers, lighthouses, zephyrs, bubbling lagoons, inventions, and submarines would be like a seaside port straight from a Jules Verne novel. And best of all, it was official. A model of Discovery Bay was on display on Main Street announcing its 1976 opening at Disneyland.

One of its headlining, anchor attractions would test the limits of the era’s technology. Captain Nemo’s Adventure would allow guests to board underwater pods right from the Nautilus and descend into wild adventures through serene reefs, lost ruins, and into the arms of a giant squid. But unlike the more traditional Submarine Voyage over in Tomorrowland, Captain Nemo’s Adventure would use a cutting edge ride system: “motion simulators” attached to motion bases, with the pods rocking, bouncing, and jostling along to a synchronized ride film to give guests the uncanny impression that they were truly piloting through the ocean.

temareiser star tour

We chronicled every last detail we know about Disney’s most incredible lost land in a full Possibilityland : Discovery Bay article that’s a must-read for Imagineering fans. But you know the ending already: Discovery Bay was canned. The primary reason was because the land’s other E-Ticket was unfortunately based on The Island at the Top of the World , Disney’s 1974 adventure film that bombed at the box office and changed Hollywood’s approach to fantasy for decades. It also seemed that the plans for Nemo’s Adventure were simply too ambitious, as Imagineers physically lacked the technology to bring this motion base attraction to life. Discovery Bay and Nemo’s Adventure were shelved.

But it’s often said that good ideas never die at Disney, and a decade later that proved to be true when a new CEO made a brilliant connection… Read on…

temareiser star tour

Based on the Star Wars films, Star Tours is one of the most fun rides in Disneyland. The technology allows for 54 different story sequences, enough to keep riders coming back again and again.

The basic tale is simple: A bumbling droid pilot accidentally takes a bunch of space tourists down the wrong tunnel at takeoff, jumps to light speed and careens through the universe before getting things under control again. You'll run into characters from many of the Star Wars films and travel through more than a few of its locales, all in quick succession. It all passes so quickly that even a devoted fan might have to ride a dozen times to catch it all.

What You Need to Know About the Star Tours Ride at Disneyland

For most visitors, Star Tours is a must-do ride — or at least ride it if you have time.

  • Location:  Star Tours is in Tomorrowland
  • Rating:  ★★★★★
  • Restrictions:  40 inches (102 cm). Regardless of height, children under age seven years must be accompanied by a person aged 14 years or older.
  • Ride Time:  4.5 minutes
  • Recommended for:  Families with teens and anyone who loves the Star Wars movies
  • Fun Factor:  High. Star Tours is  one of the best rides at Disneyland .
  • Wait Factor:  High. Use a  Fastpass to shorten your time in line . The Fastpass ticket machines are across from the Star Tours entrance, near Buzz Lightyear
  • Fear Factor:  Medium. Some scenes are exciting, but not too scary.
  • Herky-Jerky Factor:  Medium to high. This star-chasing ride is smoother than when it first opened, but Disney still says it's not for anyone a neck or back trouble, heart problems or for expectant mothers. The motion simulator moves smoothly but simulates drops and rolls that will shake you around.
  • Nausea Factor:  Medium to high. Take precautions or be prepared to spend part of the ride with your eyes closed. You can also ask a Cast Member to seat you in the middle, where there is less motion.
  • Seating:  This ride is a small motion simulator room. It has several rows, and every seat has a seatbelt.
  • Accessibility:  Contact a Cast Member at the entrance for boarding information. Guests have to transfer to the ride vehicle by themselves or with help from their companions. Some of the pre-show monitors display guest-activated captioning. Cast Members can help you with this, too. Service animals can't go on Star Tours.  More about visiting Disneyland in a wheelchair or ECV

How to Have More Fun

  • There's  lots of simulated danger  on Star Tours, and  it can be noisy .
  • If you wear prescription glasses , you can slip the 3D glasses over all but the largest frames.
  • The 3D glasses come in one size only  and are too big for a small child’s face. A simple solution is just don't wear them. Most kids don’t seem to mind that things get a little blurry without them - and they won’t be startled or scared by things that come flying toward them in the 3-D effect. Or try perching the glasses on the child’s nose, tilt them forward and rest the earpieces on top of their head.
  • Rider swap is available. It's for two adults with a kid or kids who don't ride. They can wait just once and get on as soon as the first adult returns. Tell the Cast Member in the loading area if you want to use that option.

You can  see all the Disneyland rides at a glance on the Disneyland ride sheet .

While you're thinking about rides, you should also  download the essential Disneyland apps (they're all free!) and  get some proven tips to minimize your Disneyland wait time .

When you wait in line for Star Tours, you may hear an overhead speaker paging Egroeg Sacul, which is George Lucas spelled backward.

You may also hear an announcement to move landspeeder THX 1138, another reference to George Lucas: It was the name of his first film, the license plate number in "American Graffiti", and the call sign of a stormtrooper in "Star Wars: A New Hope."

The flight simulator used to create this ride is the same one used to train airplane pilots.

The New Star Tours Update: Everything You Need, and Want, to Know

Before Disney bought Star Wars, the two brands began their courtship with a ride . Star Tours opened in 1987 and has seen many new upgrades and additions over the years . This week, for its Season of the Force event , Disney gave the ride another refresh. And this time, for the first time, it’s with characters from Disney+.

So, starting today, if you are at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Paris, Star Tours now features characters from Ahsoka, Andor and The Mandalorian. But what’s new? How does it work? io9 was among a group of journalists Disney invited to an early preview of the new Star Tours at Disneyland in Anaheim, so we’ll explain.

How many new Star Tours locations are there?

Though you may have assumed otherwise, only one new, full planet has been added to Star Tours this time around: Seatos from Ahsoka. However, there are three different variations going into that. One featuring Ahsoka (with Rosario Dawson reprising the role), one featuring Cassian Andor (with Diego Luna reprising), and one featuring both the Mandalorian and Grogu.

What can happen on the new Star Tours?

So, you get on the ride and start to pull out of the spaceport. Here’s where, potentially, your first new change will be. In the past, riders would usually see the Millennium Falcon sitting there as the ship was stopped by Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, or a Probe Droid. And while that’s still more likely to happen than not, if you happen to see a new ship there, you know exactly where this particular ride will take you.

Yes, in some Star Tours rides not only is Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle in the first scene, you can see Ahsoka herself there in the frame. She’s talking to Stormtroopers and, when they discover the Rebel spy, Ahsoka turns on her lightsabers and battles off the troopers before jumping in the ship.

If you see that, you can impress your friends and tell them what’s going to happen next. After you visit one of many, many planets that were previously on the ride (I did it twice on Friday and both times it was podracing on Tatooine from Episode I), you’ll then get one of the three new transmissions. However, if you got Ahsoka’s ship at the start, you are guaranteed to get Ahsoka in this moment. She’ll say “Hi” to C-3PO, and be excited to see her friend R2-D2 again, before asking to deliver a very important person—the Rebel spy. As she’s talking, we see Chopper and Huyang in the background, getting into shenanigans.

What are the two other transmissions?

These transmissions is the part of this new Star Tours that will be the most random. If you don’t get Ahsoka, maybe you’ll get the Mandalorian and Grogu. As Mando (who does not sound like it’s Pedro Pascal but we’ve asked Disney for confirmation) talks about a dangerous mission and fight, Grogu is eating one of his frogs. He then spits it out and it floats toward your face in 3D. It’s very cute and funny and just as the one-eyed creature gets close enough to almost touch it, Grogu sucks him back in. “This is the way,” Mando says, and you’re off to the final part of your mission.

Note: unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Cassian’s transmission but, from what we were told, it’s very different tonally than the other two, on purpose. While Ahsoka’s is friendly and Mando’s is funny, Cassian’s is mysterious. He comes out in a hood, lurking in a shadow, then reveals himself to the audience and asks for help with the spy. The key was that each one feels completely unique.

What happens on Seatos?

No matter what transmission you get though, everything is the same after that. Star Tours is off to Seatos, the planet from the final episodes of Ahsoka where they showdown with Thrawn. You arrive in some kind of shadow, only to emerge from the clouds flying among the majestic Purrgil (aka Space Whales). Ahsoka hails you on the side monitor and asks for help with the two ships attacking her, which R2 is more than happy to do. You fly up and around the Purrgil, along their backs, weaving in and out of its fins, and at one point almost even getting sucked in and eaten. Finally, there’s a perfect moment, which R2 uses to land the perfect shot and save the day. Ashoka thanks you, has a special goodbye for her old pal R2, and it’s back home.

Are the new additions to Star Tours good?

Yes and no. Yes, because anytime you can get to sit down and experience a new piece of Star Wars, especially on a ride that’s been around for almost 40 years, that’s a good thing. However, do I think Seatos as a planet is one of the better destinations in the ride? No. In fact, it may be one of my least favorites. It’s drastically lacking in drama compared to, say, Geonosis, Coruscant, or Naboo. But Ahsoka is great and it’s fun to follow a different ship around.

Oh, and the new transmissions (at least the ones we saw) were phenomenal. Much more detailed and eventful than the previous ones.

How long is the new ride happening?

“For a limited time” everyone who boards Star Tours will get the new planet of Seatos every time, as well as one of the new transmissions. Whether or not that’s just through the Season of the Force event or longer is unclear, and Disney wouldn’t commit to specifics. It might be a park to park decision. But, for at least a few weeks or months, if you go on Star Tours, you’ll get the new stuff.

Then, eventually, the three new transmissions and one new planet will be slotted into the ride’s randomizer. When that happens, it takes the number of possible combinations up to over 250.

Why Seatos over anything else?

In the last few years, thanks to Disney+, Star Wars has seen more new planets, characters, and creatures than ever. So why Seatos and the Purrgil? Well, Tom Fitzgerald, one of Star Tours’ original Imagineers—who also worked on this one —said it was all about picking a planet that was different from all the others. Something unique. Maybe that’s colors or maybe, in this case, it’s a unique creature. So by choosing Seatos, not only do you get to see these massive, new, unique creatures, but those creatures allow the ride to do moves it’s never done before. That’s how we get the first barrel roll ever in Star Tours as well as a sequence he refers to as the “slalom ski run.”

How long did the new upgrade take?

Fitzgerald said he and his team first started working on these new additions sometime between 18 months and two years ago.

Could another ride get this treatment?

Since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Tours has been updated about every two or three years. This update is the first since 2019 though—so it makes you wonder, what’s next? And, will it even be Star Tours?

When Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, Disney said that the Millennium Falcon ride, Smugglers Run, was designed in a similar fashion to Star Tours and that the actual visuals in the ride could be changed to take guests on new adventures. But now, that ride has been the same for five years. Could a change be coming? Unfortunately, no one from Imagineering or Lucasfilm would comment, confirm, or deny—but, fingers crossed.

The Ahsoka, Andor and Mandalorian additions to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue are now running at Disneyland, Hollywood Studios, and Disneyland Paris as part of the Season of the Force event. For more on that, check out this link.

Disney: Star Tours rolls out fresh scenes, new characters

U pdates have been installed at the Star Tours attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some of the new scenes and faces may have been seen in your living room.

Characters from Disney+ streaming series now appear in the simulator ride, which shuffles through multiple scenarios to create a multitude of story options. “The Mandalorian,” “Andor” and “Ahsoka” series are now in the mix.

Visitors may see Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor or Din Djarin with Grogu, the character fans sometimes refer to as “baby Yoda.”

“There’s one new scene with purrgil on the planet of Seatos, which everyone loves – the space whales, as they call them,” said Clint Gamache, owner of ThrillGeek, a theme park website.

“I think it was the right addition. Not everybody’s going to get it … but the ‘Star Wars’ fan base, I think, will enjoy it for what it is,” he said.

Star Tours was Disney’s first “Star Wars” attraction, predating the company’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012. The motion simulator opened at Disney World in 1989. It was upgraded in 2011 with characters such as Princess Leia and Chewbacca and destinations such as Hoth and Tatooine.

Concerned about misuse, Disney World changes disability passes

There also have been additions to go with “The Rise of Skywalker” and other films, plus Batuu, the planet from the park’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which opened in 2019. The contents of the attraction’s video are not randomly selected, but there’s also no way of knowing which story (or planets) you’re walking into.

There are Star Tours attractions at Disneyland in California, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

“Star Tours is a classic attraction, so it’s great to see Disney continuing to update it with new additions for everybody to enjoy,” Gamache said.

Review: We Rode Star Tours With New Scenes Featuring Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Andor

Review: We Rode Star Tours With New Scenes Featuring Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Andor

Season of the Force officially begins at Disneyland today, and with the celebration comes some exciting special offerings, including the return of Hyperspace Mountain, specialty foods, and a new perspective on the fireworks from Galaxy's Edge during “Fire of the Rising Moons.”

One of the most exciting new offerings for the Star Wars-themed celebration is the addition of new scenes that debuted today on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! The new Star Tours scenes are inspired by the popular Disney+ series “Ahsoka,” “Andor” and “The Mandalorian.” There is a new destination, the planet Seatos from the “Ahsoka” series, that is featured. These new scenes also debuted at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.

We got the opportunity to experience the additions to the attraction today and talk with Tom Fitzgerald, Senior Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, to get some details on the making of these new scenes. Keep reading for details and our review of the new scenes we saw!

For everything you need to know about the Season of the Force celebration at Disneyland , see our full guide. Also, be sure to see the cute new droids that will be at the park as part of Season of the Force as well!

New Scenes on Star Tours Review

Star Tours

When we rode Star Tours this morning, we experienced two of the new additions to the attraction. We did not see the transmission from Cassian Andor during the flight, but we did see Ahsoka and Din Djarin and Grogu as well as the new destination on the planet Seatos. Note that spoilers for the new scenes of the attraction are ahead!

The new elements of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue that we saw as part of a media event for the launch of Season of the Force included an urgent transmission from Din Djarin and Grogu, with Din Djarin sending over coordinates to jump to. Din was very much straight down to business, but Grogu was levitating a frog that grew closer and closer to the audience thanks to the effect of the 3D glasses. This was such a funny moment and very well executed. It was almost impossible to pay close attention to what Din was saying with Grogu's mischief, but that was the exact intent of the humorous moment and captured their dynamic perfectly. Everyone was giggling during this moment!

Star Tours Din Djarin and Grogu

I had the opportunity to speak with Tom Fitzgerald, Senior Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, who spoke to how they wanted to mix up the more serious transmissions with this cute moment having Grogu “be playful and steal the show” and expecting that everyone is going to be engrossed in watching him levitating the frog while Din is talking.

As the Starspeeder jumped to the new location, it maneuvered through some gray clouds before clearing to this stunning moment over Seatos with a group of purrgil. We enjoy a great moment with them before we receive a transmission from Ahsoka and plunge into the action of the scene. This scene includes some fun new movements, including the attraction's first “barrel roll” which was very well executed. In a sweet moment at the end of the scene bound to be emotional for any Star Wars fan, Ahsoka smiles and tells R2-D2 that it's good to see him again.

Ahsoka Tano Star Tours

Tom spoke to this moment as well, saying that “we kind of look and read the scripts and go, what's different from what we've done before?” The purrgil stood out as a great choice to add to the attraction as they have become, according to Tom, “hopefully iconic, you know, in the Star Wars saga.” Tom also shared that in the process of deciding what specific moment should be featured in the attraction, the thought was, “what if we could have a moment of wonder with them, rather than always racing, racing, racing, how can we mix it up and let you have a moment of wow , look at these beautiful things, and then get sucked into—you know, which we have to—into the battle.”

Star Tours Disneyland

As a “Star Wars: Rebels” fan, seeing the purrgil in live action for the first time in the third season of “The Mandalorian” was a big moment, and being able to experience and now fly alongside them in this beloved attraction was truly special. I thought the moment of admiration was well executed, and this was a great addition to the ride!

I also asked Tom about the thought process behind adding new movement to the attraction, and he shared that it was important to ask the question “what can we do with the motion base that we haven't done” and the idea of a barrel roll came up, as they had never done that before. “We're obviously not flipping you over 360, but can we make you believe we did?” My first thought upon experiencing this moment was that it was incredibly well executed!

We really enjoyed these new additions and are excited to see Star Tours continue to evolve as guests now have the opportunity to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction!
