Decked out head-to-toe in all-black and all-sequin everything by Kaufman Franco (including matching microphone), Taylor even managed to look good with a golf club in Kanata in Ontario, Canada.

One of our all-time favorite looks from the tour so far, nothing says pop princess more than this bejeweled all-in-one number, paired with a trademark red lip.

Sporting another sparkling outfit in a shiny green jacket and purple skirt, it’s no wonder she needed sunglasses. The varsity detail on the jacket gives it a nice too-cool-for-school edge.

Swift shook it off in this green flapper-inspired, tasseled crop top and skirt that she wore during a performance in Montreal.

Swift’s overall fun vibe on the tour has extended to her fashion choices. Not one to shy away from bold colors, she is pictured here performing in Philadelphia in a rainbow-colored sequin jacket.

Swift quite literally lit up the stage in Las Vegas, where she looked flirty and feminine in this summery pink skirt and matching top complete with L.E.D. lights and silver strappy heels.

In yet another crop top and skirt, it shows that as far as Swift is concerned, this combination will never go out of style.

18 things we learned from Taylor Swift's '1989 World Tour' documentary

Taylor Swift’s giddy cries of “Please welcome to the stage
” are still ringing in our ears, but the time has come: After 85 shows and seemingly endless special guests, the 1989 World Tour is finally over.

It won’t soon be forgotten, though, in part because The 1989 World Tour (Live) documentary is now available to stream on Apple Music, giving broke Swifties who didn’t attend the tour a chance to experience the magic. But even if you did catch the tail of this comet, you still might learn something new from the documentary, which intersperses full, sparkling, neon-tinged footage from Swift’s Sydney, Australia stop with commentary from the star, and clips from other cities’ shows.

For those who don’t have Apple Music (or the 2 hours and 11 minutes required to watch the full documentary), here are 18 things we learned from The 1989 World Tour (Live) , in no particular order:

1. “Blank Space” is Swift’s favorite moment of every show

She loves playing the seductive serial dater who becomes obsessed with her boyfriends and then goes crazy. “When I wrote ‘Blank Space,’ I just thought, all right, if [the media] want[s] me to play this character
this whole image of the jet-setting, tragic mess, cool,” Swift said. “I’ll write a song from that perspective and see how you like it.” As we’ve known since 1989 came out in 2014, the song hit its mark: “It ended up being the biggest song I’ve ever had,” she said.

2. She didn’t bring special guests on stage just to brag about her squad — it was essentially a tactic to combat spoilers and keep an element of surprise every night

“Every person in the audience probably knows what costumes I’m going to wear,” Swift explained. “They could know the set list if they really wanted to, so I decided to start inviting special guests out.”

3. The remixed version of “I Knew You Were Trouble” she played on tour was phenomenal.

Okay, this is a personal opinion, but watching this funky, piano-heavy version of “Trouble” really might make you wish you’d gotten tickets to this tour, if you missed it. At least we have it on video

4. She has Mick Jagger’s cell phone number (and uses it)

When Swift was on a hike in Nashville before that city’s concert, her dad called her. “I pick up the phone and Dad’s like, ‘My friend swears he was sitting next to Mick Jagger at lunch yesterday,’ ” Swift said. “So I text Mick, and I said, ‘Hey, are you in town? I’m playing a show tomorrow. Do you want to come out and sing “Satisfaction?””‘ He just writes back, ‘What will I wear?’ “

(We’re going to start slipping that line into every story from now on. “So I text Mick
”)

5. Losing the 2014 Grammy for Album of the Year to Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories inspired her to write 1989

“I ended up going home thinking a lot about everything,” Swift said of that 2014 evening. “[I was] thinking about where I was going, what I’d been doing.
I needed to change something. I went to bed, and I woke up at 4 in the morning and I knew what the next album needed to be: ‘I need to completely switch gears, it needs to be called 1989
everything has to be different.’ “

6. Swift is the one who suggested Alanis Morissette “slap” her in the face while the two performed the line, “It was a slap in the face / How quickly I was replaced”

Her rationale? “Bruises heal, but the moment lasts forever.”

7. She pulled out all the stops for her special guests — including changing the color of the audience.

“We can program the bracelets to be absolutely any color,” Swift said. “So the first thing I ask them is, ‘What color do you want the audience to be?’ ” She’d be a great concierge in Panem’s Capitol, right? “Pyro is another option we provided for many of the guests,” she said.

8. She loves huggging Wiz Khalifa

“At the end of our performance, there was a hug that lasted for like four years,” Swift said. “I remember thinking, ‘I just don’t want this hug to end!’ “

9. Swift used beach towels and nail polish to explain the tour’s runway to her model friends

And Karlie Kloss secretly filmed the whole thing — including the excitement backstage.

10. Swift calls professional athletes “sports players”

“If an actor or a sports player wanted to come to the show, I’d invite them up on stage, because why not?” she said.

11. Her band can learn a song in less than an hour

And, given the fact that most of Swift’s artist guests got to perform their own songs with her, that’s a lot of different genres Swift’s band had to perfect. Kudos to them.

12. Justin Timberlake was slightly worried about the pyrotechnics

“Don’t you burn me, Taylor,” he warned.

13. Also, Swift thinks Timberlake is “our generation’s Frank Sinatra”

Hey, he does have blue eyes!

14. John Legend’s appearance happened at the very last minute

“John Legend happened to be coming to the concert just to watch it,” Swift said, “but in my head I’m like, ‘I know this show starts in 40 minutes, but I want John Legend to sing.’ ” And he did.

15. It was Swift’s idea for Miranda Lambert to emerge atop “a throne made of men”

“I was half expecting her to be like, ‘I’m not doing that,’ ” Swift said, “but she was so down.” Uh, yeah.

16. Swift got to be the sixth member of Fifth Harmony — just for a night

She had the girls teach her the choreography to “Worth It” in their dressing room, then borrowed one of Camila Cabello’s extra costumes to perform the song with the group onstage. “Camila says, ‘I have an extra costume. Do you want to dress like one of us?’ ” Swift said. “And I said, ‘Obviously.’ “

17. Mary J. Blige’s song “Doubt” really speaks to Swift

“It really hit me because I’m so doubtful of myself constantly,” Swift confessed. “No matter what I achieve
That song really struck a chord with me, and I remember thinking it would be amazing if I could ever sing that with her.” Reader, she did.

18. The end of the 1989 World Tour was extra emotional for Swift and her team because they hadn’t gotten sick of it yet

“We didn’t drag it out,” she said. “We didn’t wait til we got sick of it. We’re still in love with it.” And so, it seems, are we.

Taylor Swift's 'The 1989 World Tour' Documentary: 10 Fascinating Moments

As promised, Taylor Swift released a concert documentary about her hugely successful 1989 World Tour this holiday season. It’s appropriately titled The 1989 World Tour, and is currently streaming on Apple Music exclusively.

Centering around her tour stop in Sydney, Australia, the film is filled with live performances of songs from her blockbuster 1989 album , backstage footage, interviews with her famous friends, and narration from Swift herself.

Here are 10 fascinating moments from The 1989 World Tour documentary.

1) In the movie, Swift explains how she recruited that endless parade of special guests for her tour. “Some of the special guest appearances were planned months in advance. I would reach out and I’d say, ‘I love your music. Here’s the schedule, here are the tour dates. Which ever one you want to come to, we’d love to have you.'” Swift notes that after Mick Jagger joined her onstage, people were more likely to say yes.

2) Not all of the special guests were planned so far in advance, however. In the documentary, Swift reveals she recruited John Legend to join her onstage just 40 minutes prior to showtime after spotting him in the audience.

3) Rehearsing backstage with Alanis Morissette in one scene, we see Swift urging the singer-songwriter to mime hitting her during the lyric, “It was a slap in the face.” Taylor explains her insistence on the slap to Alanis as such: “Bruises heal, but moments last forever.”

4) Anyone who showed up at the 1989 Tour is familiar with the colorful audience bracelets that lit up in synchronization during the show. What they might not know, however, is that Swift let her guests control the bracelet colors during their visiting performances.

5) In an interview portion of the film, Lena Dunham shares her memory of Taylor playing 1989 for her pre-release date: “I made her play it over and over until she finally said, ‘I don’t want to play it anymore.'”

6) In one scene, Swift explains snagging Mick Jagger for a duet on “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” at her Nashville tour stop. “My dad’s like, ‘My friend swears he was sitting next to Mick Jagger at lunch yesterday.’ So I text Mick and I said, ‘Hey are you in town? I’m playing a show tomorrow night, do you want to come out and sing “Satisfaction”?’ And he just writes back, ‘What will I wear?'”

7) At 1:17:00, Swift’s friends — from Selena Gomez to Haim to Cara Delevingne — share stories on what a “typical hang with Taylor” is like. Hints: Dancing, and lots of cats.

‘Bad Blood’ Blasts to No. 1 on Hot 100

8) Swift shares she wanted to duet with Mary J. Blige on “Doubt” after hearing the soul queen sing it at a Grammy party. “I’m so doubtful of myself constantly — no matter what I achieve, no matter what happens,” Swift said. “So that song struck a chord with me. I remember thinking, ‘That would be amazing if I could ever sing that with her.'” And in L.A., they did.

9) Swift heaps massive praise on her “Mirrors” duet partner in one scene. “I think Justin Timberlake is the closest thing our generation has to Frank Sinatra ,” she said, comparing one actor-singer to another. “I honestly think he’s one of the greatest musicians of our time.”

10) Post credits fun! Taylor shares her plans for 2016, saying, “Maybe I’ll jut eat carbs for the next seven months. I don’t have to wear any crop tops.” She also stands in front of the camera holding her two cats while one of them desperately tries to escape. The film ends with the words, “No cats were harmed in the making of this tour. Just one pop star.”

1989 World Tour Makes Rolling Stone’s ‘Top 50 Tours’ List

Rolling Stone ranked the 1989 World Tour as one of the top 50 tours in the past 50 years! Taylor made the bold change to pop music while staying true to her own style with dramatic flair and intimate storytelling. Combining that with all the special guests Taylor invited made this a tour to remember! Read the full article below.

Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Tour “You’re not going to see me playing the banjo,” Taylor Swift warned Rolling Stone at the outset of her 1989 world tour. On her Speak Now and Red tours, she claimed her turf at the crossroads of country, pop and classic arena rock. But for 1989, Swift made her bold move into full-on dance pop. She turned up the glitz with new material like “New Romantics” and “Blank Space” (“blatant pop music,” as she put it), but she didn’t compromise on her trademark emotional overshares, whether opening up in confessional interludes or torching up ballads (“Clean”). Swift aimed for a glammier look onstage, reflecting the grown-up flair of the music, and she invited high-profile guests: In Nashville, she duetted with Mick Jagger; in L.A., she brought out Beck, St. Vincent, Justin Timberlake, Chris Rock and Alanis Morissette. It all summed up her staggeringly ambitious vision of modern pop. Rob Sheffield Source

Taylor Swift Takes Eight of the Top 10 on the Hot 100

By Ethan Millman

Ethan Millman

Taylor Swift ‘s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) opened with one of the most dominant weeks on the charts in years, as the album takes seven of the Top 10 slots on Billboard ‘s Hot 100, the publication announced on Monday. Combined with the Lover hit “Cruel Summer,” Swift took eight of the Top 10 on this week’s chart.

Leading the way on this week’s chart is vault track “Is It Over Now?,” which drew in 32 million streams last week, per Luminate. The track dethroned “Cruel Summer, which topped the chart more than four years after its release for the past two weeks and now falls to Number Six. New vault tracks took up much of the Top Five as well, with “Now That We Don’t Talk” in second, Slut!” taking third, and “Say Don’t Go” in fifth. Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” took fourth and blocked Swift from taking the entire Top Five.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) is the first time one of Swift’s rerecorded projects outsold the original album in its debut, and with 1.6 million units, it marks the largest debut for an album since Adele’s 25 in 2015. Such strong figures came in part because of the dozen different physical versions she offered for sale, driving collectors.

Why Is Everybody Talking About the Hawk Tuah Girl?

Hawk tuah girl has already sold at least $65,000 worth of merch, kinky friedman, proudly eccentric texas singer-songwriter, dead at 79, 'the bear' season 3 is everything you've been waiting for and (maybe too much) more.

Swift’s chart dominance this week is just the latest in a massive year for the world’s biggest artist. She’s had three albums top the chart this year: Midnights and her “Taylor’s Version” rerecords of Speak Now and 1989. She’s also had three Hot 100 Number Ones with “Anti-Hero,” “Cruel Summer,” and “Is It Over Now?” According to data from Luminate, Swift holds four of the Top 10 best-performing albums of 2023 — and eight of the Top 25.

With debut week over, the attention now turns to how Swift fares next week. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is still the likely contender to repeat at Number One on the albums chart, though the Beatles’ “final song” “Now and Then” could be a contender on next week’s Hot 100, as could “Paint the Town Red” and “Cruel Summer.”

Concert film [ ]

The 1989 World Tour Live is a concert film by Taylor Swift. It was released on December 20, 2015, exclusively via Apple Music. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the film follows the Sydney stop of Swift's fourth headlining concert tour, The 1989 World Tour. The show, which was attended by 75,980 fans, remains Swift's most attended concert to date.

Signs were displayed at the sold out Sydney concert on November 28, 2015, at ANZ Stadium which said "Today's events are being recorded and filmed for global streaming, and may also form part of a television program... for commercial and promotional purposes." Although there was no further information about what the filming was for at the time, there was speculation that it would form a DVD of the 1989 World Tour to be released once the tour concluded its run in Melbourne in late 2015. Later speculation involved an Apple Music Video launch, which was proved to be correct. Coincidentally, " All You Had to Do Was Stay " and " This Love " were added back into the show after having been left off the set list for several months. This makes the Sydney setlist identical to that of Tokyo when the tour premiered.

A complete guide to the celebrity guests on Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ tour

taylor swift 1989 tour top

Why was Matt LeBlanc on stage at a Taylor Swift concert?

It’s an excellent question and one of the many that have surfaced since Swift started touring the world in support of her quintuple-platinum “1989” album. The pop mega-star has always made a habit of inviting an eclectic group of celebrity guests on stage at her concerts, but this year, she raised the bar with a barrage of singers, supermodels, athletes, A-list actresses and ’90s sitcom stars. Some perform, some just stand on stage and wave. Not only is it a treat for the audience, it serves the guests very well. After all,  history shows that being associated with Swift can greatly  impact your celebrity status.

It’s a lot to process, so here’s a complete guide to the guests on Swift’s tour — and why these stars were the chosen ones.

Song:   “Tenerife Sea” Why was Sheeran there?  Swift and Sheeran go way back, from that time they wrote her single “Everything Has Changed” on a trampoline. Plus, he was an opener on her “Red” tour.

Song: “Radioactive” Why was Reynolds there? Imagine Dragons is one of her favorite bands, as she told the crowd. Why were Hadid and Hunt there?  Both model squad members and co-stars in the “Bad Blood” video, and Hadid used to date Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas.

Song: “Pontoon” Why was Little Big Town there? Swift is still a Nashville gal at heart.

Song: “Cool Kids” Why was Echosmith there? Swift and lead vocalist Sydney Sierota became pals at the 2014 VMAs . Why were Delevigne and Hargitay there?  Delevingne is a longtime member of the #squad; Swift is a huge “Law & Order: SVU” fan, and one of her cats is named after Hargitay’s character, Olivia Benson.

Song: “Fight Song” Why was Platten there? Swift  bonded with Platten  backstage a few nights earlier in Pittsburgh singing this inspirational tune. Why was Hargitay there?  See above.

Song: “Can’t Feel My Face” Why was The Weeknd there? Well, they do share a producer in Max Martin. Why were all those other people there? It’s a good number of “Bad Blood” video stars and friends (Dunham and Steinfeld), and Klum, who likely felt right at home among fellow supermodels Aldridge and Hadid. Plus, the women’s soccer team had just won the World Cup.

Song: “Jealous” Why was Jonas there?  Swift and the JoBros have known each other for years; he also dated her BFF Selena Gomez. Why was everyone else there?  Some repeats from the night before, with the addition of some more supermodel friends and Uzo Aduba from “Orange is the New Black.” (Maybe Swift is a Netflix binge-watcher?)

Song: “Royals” Why was Lorde there?  Lorde & Taylor: A well-documented Insta-friendship.

Song: “Want to Want Me” Why was Derulo there?  Swift told the crowd it’s one of her favorite summer songs.

Song: “Honey, I’m Good” Why was Grammer there? This is his second appearance on a Swift tour — he showed up a couple years ago to play “Keep Your Head Up,” Swift’s favorite song when she’s having a bad day. Why was Serayah there? A fairly new edition to the squad, the 20-year-old “Empire” star helped Swift out on vocals during “Style.”

Song: “Take Your Time” Why was Hunt there?  Swift likes to keep tabs on the Nashville scene. Before their flirty duet, she called him “the coolest new thing that country music has going on.” Why were Donaldson and Pejic there?  Because Swift really, really likes having supermodel friends?

Song: “Shut Up and Dance” Why was Walk the Moon there?  Released last year, it’s still a contender for song of the summer .

Song: “Classic” Why was MKTO there?  Because it’s the catchiest song ever and earworm expert Taylor Swift knows it.

Song: “Am I Wrong” Why were Nico & Vinz there?  Swift is OBSESSED with them.

Song: “Trap Queen” Why was Fetty Wap there? Another song of the summer contender. Why were Wilson and Ciara there?  Swift likes to bring out hometown stars (Wilson is a favorite of the Seahawks) and he and Ciara are one of this year’s most-talked about couples.

Song: “Worth It” Why was Fifth Harmony there?  Swift has been good friends with group member  Camila Cabello  for awhile, which she proved by borrowing one of Fifth Harmony’s outfits for the performance.

Good night. pic.twitter.com/dJsefuumrv — Alex Goldschmidt (@alexandergold) August 15, 2015

Song: “Black Magic” Why was Little Mix there?  They were already nearby for the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. And group member Perrie Edwards used to be engaged to Zayn Malik, the ex-One Direction star, and Swift also used to date Harry Styles. Why were Roberts and Baez there? Your guess is as good as ours — though Swift did call the women two of her heroes.

Song: “Counting Stars” Why was Tedder there?  He co-wrote two tracks on “1989” (“Welcome to New York” and “I Know Places”) so it was only fair. Why was Bryant there? In a twist, the Lakers star was there to surprise Swift: He presented a new Staples Center banner that congratulated her on being the artist with the most sold-out concerts ever at the venue.

Blige’s songs:  “Doubt,” “Family Affair” Why was she there? Swift says she was very inspired when she heard Blige sing “Doubt” at a pre-Grammy party last year, and also wants no more drama in her life. Aduba’s song : “White Horse” Why was she there? Aduba (a guest earlier in the summer in East Rutherford) told Vulture  she got a message from Swift inviting her to sing on stage. Who would turn that down? Why were LeBlanc, O’Pry and Rock there?  Swift is a big fan of “Friends.” We know Rock is a big fan of Swift . And Sean O’Pry was the star of Swift’s “Blank Space” video.

Maines’s song: “Goodbye Earl” Why was she there? Swift used to perform Dixie Chicks songs at all her school talent shows, so may as well bring it to a bigger stage. Morissette’s song: “You Oughta Know” Why was she there?  It’s one of the most famous songs about an ex-boyfriend, a theme Swift knows very well. Why was DeGeneres there?  The two have been buddies for years, with Swift a frequent guest on her talk show — even though Ellen often tries to freak her out .

Beck’s song: “Dreams,” with St. Vincent on guitar Why were they there? St. Vincent is dating Swift’s squad member Cara Delevigne; Beck has a new single. Legend’s s ong: “All of Me” Why was he there?   According to Swift , she heard Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, were on their way to the show, so she called and asked about an impromptu performance.

Timberlake’s song: “Mirrors” Why was he there? The former ‘N Sync frontman was one of Swift’s first celebrity crushes before she became a superstar. Now he joins her on stage and shows up at her 25th birthday party . Gomez’s song: “Good For You” Why was she there?  The two have been best friends for a long time, even though Swift is rightly repulsed by Gomez’s on-again off-again romance with Justin Bieber. Why was Kudrow there?  To sing “Smelly Cat” from “Friends.” That’s right, Swift’s powerful enough to get an Emmy-nominated actress to reprise a decades-old sitcom role.

OMI’s Song: “Cheerleader” Why was he there? It’s another song of the summer contender. Lavigne’s song: “Complicated” Why was she there?  To quell the notion that the two are in a feud. People tried to stoke the fire when Swift “liked” a Tumblr post that implied Lavigne wasn’t friendly to her fans. But Swift is way too savvy for that story to blow up.

Khalifa’s song: “See You Again” Why was he there? The tearjerker song from the “Furious 7” soundtrack is one of the biggest hits of the year. Judging by their long embrace at the end of the performance, Swift got a little emotional as well.

https://instagram.com/p/7cGHtejvK4

The Band Perry’s song: “If I Die Young” Why were they there? A throwback to Swift’s country roots. They also share a record label with Swift’s Nashville-based Big Machine.

Sierota’s song: “Cool Kids” Why was she there? The first repeat performer! The lead vocalist of Echosmith stopped by again because the two are good pals.

Bentley’s song: “Every Mile a Memory” Why was he there? Another Nashville star; Swift says she’s always wanted to sing with him.

Ballerini’s song: “Love Me Like You Mean It” Why was she there? Swift has taken the up-and-coming country singer under her wing in the last year, tweeting about how much she loves her music and calling her “little sis.” Tyler’s song: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” Why was he there? Besides the fact that he also shares a record label with Swift, she is on record in 2012 as saying ,  “I feel like I’d be more understood if people knew ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ by Aerosmith is how most of my emotions sound in my head.” Krauss’s song: “When  You Say Nothing At All” Why was she there? Um, to bring everyone in the arena to tears?

Jagger’s song: “Satisfaction” Why was he there? Because he’s Mick Jagger. Oh, and Swift once joined the Rolling Stones on stage at a concert. Lewis’s song: “Bleeding Love” Why was she there? Swift is a huge fan of her voice, to put it mildly.

Nelly’s song: “Hot in Herre” Why was he there? Nelly is basically king of St. Louis, and Swift and Haim needed to join forces on stage for an epic dance party.

BUSTING LOOSE bc Tay, Nelly & HAIM threw it back 2night w/ 'Hot in Herre' #1989TourStLouis pic.twitter.com/LJiJvaNegm — Taylor Nation (@taylornation13) September 30, 2015

Urban’s song: “John Couger, John Deere, John 3:16” Why was he there: Swift once opened for him on tour when she was a new country singer.

Charli XCX’s song: “Boom Clap” Why was she there?  She did do that punk cover of “Shake It Off.”

Goulding’s song: “Love Me Like You Do” Why was she there? She’s been a squad member for a long time, and obviously appeared in the “Bad Blood” video; Swift has long been a fan.

Lambert’s song: “Little Red Wagon” Why was she there?  If you’re in the south, you might as well invite one of the top country singers around.

Pitbull’s song: “Give Me Everything” Why was he there? Please, Pitbull is basically mayor of Miami. It would have been insulting if he wasn’t invited. Martin’s song: “Livin’ La Vida Loca” Why was he there? Another famous South Beach resident, who wouldn’t want to have a dance party to his 1999 hit? Why was Wade there? If the Lakers gave Swift a banner, the least the Heat could do is give Swift a jersey.

Cara’s song: “Here” Why was she there? She’s one of Swift’s top new singers to watch. Mendel’s song: “Let It Go” Why was she there? It’s one of the biggest songs in the world from one of the biggest movies in the world (“Frozen”)
so, fitting that’s the way that Swift ended the North American leg of her tour.

Taylor Swift's '1989' tour: The top 10 celebrity cameos (so far)

When it comes to star power, Taylor Swift doesn't just exude it, she attracts it — and the eclectic and myriad celebrities who have joined her onstage for her current concert tour prove it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/61qkOvjvDU

Although the Los Angeles leg of her "1989" tour wrapped Wednesday with a show that featured a rousing performance of "Smelly Cat" with Lisa Kudrow of "Friends," dozens of A-listers have made very public appearances at many of the pop star's tour stops. It's practically a traveling variety show at this point, and her fans are all about it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/60i9ECjvAM

In no particular order, here are 10 of the biggest and buzziest appearances from Swift's current tour to date. (Honorable mentions go to Beck and St. Vincent, who brought some serious indie cred and a shred-tacular guitar solo to Swift's traveling party; to "Orange is the New Black's" Uzo Aduba , who wowed audiences with her unexpected take on "White Horse" ; to Natalie Maines for a spirited rendition of the Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye Earl" ; and to Ellen DeGeneres, whose outfit was as sparkly as her smile .)

1. The World Cup-winning U.S. Women's National Soccer Team

https://www.instagram.com/p/4_TUqaDvIU

Swift likely invited other celebrities onto the stage before her tour arrived at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, but perhaps the first truly viral moment happened July 10, when the newly minted champs took a bow on her stage. Ever since, Swift's fans have been wondering if more stars would be waving to them from her concert catwalk — and, often, she'd deliver.

2. Hailee Steinfeld, Lily Aldridge, Gigi Hadid and Lena Dunham

https://www.instagram.com/p/4_TsQVDvJH

Referring to them on Instagram by their character names ("The Trinity, Frostbyte, Slay-Z, and Lucky Fiori," respectively), Swift welcomed four of her "Bad Blood" music video co-stars onstage in New Jersey.

3. Nick Jonas

https://www.instagram.com/p/5CmYhwjvLs

Swift and Nick's brother Joe broke up in 2008 , but she's still Jonas-friendly these days. She and Nick had no problem rocking out to his hit "Jealous" at MetLife Stadium on July 11.

4. Julia Roberts and Joan Baez

https://www.instagram.com/p/6b8UzGjvNI

While other tour stops had their share of celebrity appearances ranging from NFL quarterback Russell Wilson to rock band Imagine Dragons, the star power ratcheted up a few notches in Los Angeles. After Roberts and Baez joined Swift onstage during "Style," Swift took to Instagram to hail the Academy Award-winning actress and legendary folk singer as her "heroes."

5. John Legend

Night 4 and @johnlegend showed up! Everyone sang along and it was perfect. Thank you #1989TourLA pic.twitter.com/43JvWMov0r — Taylor Nation (@taylornation13) August 26, 2015

Swift appeared to be have a deep knowledge of every last lyric of Legend's "All of Me," and felt compelled not only to throw her hands in the air, but also to wave them like she just didn't care.

6. Lisa Kudrow

"Smelly Cat" would have been amazing if either Kudrow or Swift performed it as a solo, but the owner of a cat named Olivia Benson realized just how great it would be if they teamed up for a duet. The Internet agreed, and the moment went viral instantly. (Of course, Mariska Hargitay, who plays the original/human version of Olivia Benson on NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," walked the catwalk at one of Swift's June concerts in Philadelphia .)

7. Chris Rock

https://www.instagram.com/p/6uFLBzDvN2

Sure, Kudrow's "Friends" cast mate Matt LeBlanc walked beside Rock, but the stand-up comedian was seen enthusiastically singing along to "Style" as they strutted down the catwalk.

8. Alanis Morissette

https://www.instagram.com/p/60jV9RjvBH

It shouldn't be a surprise that Morissette's break-up anthem would resonate with Swift, who's been known to pen a few songs based on failed relationships. Joining forces was an inevitability.

9. Mary J. Blige

https://www.instagram.com/p/6uE-k-jvNp

What do you do when you've had your share of drama with Miley Cyrus , Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry ? You call upon the songstress behind the triple-platinum album "No More Drama," and join her in singing "Doubt." (Of course, if you're Taylor Swift, you probably could have done that without the aforementioned drama, too.)

10. Justin Timberlake

https://www.instagram.com/p/64YEpdDvFD

"I have no way to deal with this," reads the caption to Swift's Instagram photo, posted just hours after she invited him to sing "Mirrors" during her tour's final L.A. performance. "Justin Timberlake is the BEST."

A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

taylor swift 1989 tour top

One year ago, the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, erupted into a massive cheer in State Farm Stadium when Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" began playing and the backdrop screen transitioned to a countdown clock starting at 2:24.

None of the Swifties who traveled from all over the state of Arizona and the nation, dressed to the nines as one of her 10 eras, knew the tour would be three-plus hours. The fan screaming next to me from Pennsylvania who bought a ticket on StubHub.com for about $400 didn't know that we would go era-by-era through a 44-song track list. I don't think the singer, herself, knew when she hid inside a cleaning cart wheeled backstage, that her show would lead to a billion-dollar enterprise, Time magazine person of the year and an inundation of friendship bracelets. I didn't know the behemoth success following the Eras Tour star would send me packing from Phoenix to Nashville, Tennessee, to become the inaugural Taylor Swift reporter.

Swift's dancers flowed onto the stage through fog with pink, purple and orange parachute flaps. A compilation of songs from Swift's 10 albums — or eras — played as "it's been a long time coming" boomed into the stadium. Goosebumps covered the arms of thousands and tears cascaded down cheeks as the flaps revealed Miss Americana rising to begin her "Lover" set.

Eighty three shows later, here's a look back at the unprecedented tour that set a Guinness World Record . And fair warning, like her tour this article is an extensive rollercoaster.

Swept up in the hype, the world became Taylor Nation. Glendale, "Erazona ," was renamed "Swift City." Las Vegas lit up its arches in all 10 era colors. Arlington, Texas, dubbed one of its streets "Taylor Swift Way." Tampa, Florida, gave Swift a key to the city and invited her to be an honorary mayor. Houston renamed its venue "NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)."

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated a bench in Centennial Park to the hometown singer. A Philadelphia radio station, 96.5 FM (WTDY), renamed itself Ninety-Swift-Five W-T-A-Y. Gov. Philip D. Murphy dubbed the "Taylor Swift ham, egg and cheese sandwich" the "state sandwich of New Jersey." Chicago lit up the top of Willis Tower in her album colors. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey renamed his city "Swiftie-apolis," and Santa Clara, California, Mayor Lisa Gillmor switched the city's name to "Swiftie Clara."

Internationally, fans in Brazil caught the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Father Omar, the rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, who arranged to project a  "Junior Jewels" inspired T-shirt  onto the Christ the Redeemer statue. Flinders Station in Melbourne , Australia, flashed a wallpaper glaze of lights to welcome the Eras star. Singapore painted the Marina Bay Sands Resort all colors of vibrant lights.

It's a cruel summer with you

All four seasons met the fifteen dancers, four backup singers, six bandmates and hundreds of production and crew members, adding unpredictable weather to the mix. Mother Nature danced in a lightning storm to "Fearless" in Tampa and made the song "Midnight Rain" a reality in Nashville . Rain poured through the open-roofed stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Swift pushed puddles forming on her piano . The Swiftie fandom created its own natural phenomenon in Seattle after a seismologist registered a 2.3 magnitude earthquake on her Richter scale.

The intense heat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, caused Swift to throw water bottles to fans and temporarily halt her show. Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, passed out and died of heat exhaustion. The heartbreaking news prompted changes at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos to allow fans access to water. Swift invited Benevides' family to her concert in São Paulo.

I want you to think of the memories made

Swift incorporated custom messages into each tour stop. At her international destinations, she welcomed fans in their custom languages. "Bienvenidos al Eras Tour," she said in Mexico City before hoisting her hands in the air. While donning either her pink or blue guitar before the title track of "Lover," she commonly announced the stadium attendance often record-breaking.

Outside of stadiums, thousands "Taylorgated," or showed up without a ticket to hear Swift's beats and dance on the concrete. Tens of thousands more logged on to watch livestreams from fans with tickets who agreed to spend concert time holding up their mobile devices in a tricep-burning position.

The number of viewers would jump before the "Champagne Problems" speech and acoustic set. To keep things fun and interesting each night, fans filled out "Swiftball" ballots guessing the singer's outfits from four "Lover" bodysuits and accompanying "The Man" jackets, three "Fearless" dresses, two "Evermore" dresses, six "Speak Now" gowns, three bedazzled "22" shirts, five "Folkore" dresses, four "1989" crop top and skirt combos, six "Midnights" T-shirt dresses, three "Midnight Rain" body suits and four "Karma" faux fur jackets. To see how many times the Eras star wore each outfit, check out the "Data Swiftie."

For fans who wanted to get alerts to watch the shows without having to calculate time changes, Swift Alert became the app for that .

Double clap, audience chants

A secret language formed between fans and Swift as new traditions popped up along the tour. The four lines fans screamed at the top of their lungs, no matter the city or country, were "cause shade never made anybody less gay" in "You Need To Calm Down," "what a shame she's f----d in the head" in "Champagne Problems," "f--- the patriarchy" in "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" and "don't call me kid, don't call me baby" in "Illicit Affairs."

Swift started every show strong with a very important question: Did her fans know the bridge to "Cruel Summer?" "Prove it!" she'd yell at some stops and the audience would, every single time, bellow, "I'm drunk in the back of the car." For "The Archer," fans printed and dispersed signs that read, "We will stay," to hold up when Swift asks, "Who would stay?"

In the "Fearless" era, fans double clapped with "13" drawn on the back of their hands in the middle of the bridge to "You Belong With Me." A trend of marriage proposals during "Love Story" picked up during the 2024 leg with partners popping the question as Swift sang, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring."

During "Marjorie," Swifties turned their phone flashlights on in tribute to Swift's grandma. Fans started timing the standing ovation and ear-shattering applause after "Champagne Problems." Livestreamers, like Tess Bohne , would display a clock and fans guessed if the cheers would surpass one, two or three minutes.

A snake shape slithered through the light-up braceklets handed out before the show at the start of the "Reputation" era. Fans yelled "1, 2, 3, let's go b----" before the first verse of "Delicate" as Swift counts on her fingers. Later in the song, Swift sings, "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?" and fans reply, "No, they don't." On rare occasion, Swift would let out a three-note riff during her "Don't Blame Me" belt.

After rereleasing her third album, the "Speak Now" singer added "Long Live" to the set list, bringing the total to 45 tracks. In the first verse when she croons "the crowds and stands went wild," the crowd indeed went wild.

In the "Red" era, Swift crowned a deserving fan with a black fedora during "22." They were typically children, but one adult Swiftie was crowned in Melbourne . Dancer Kameron Saunders had the only speaking line on the tour besides Swift during her song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." He said "like ever" at the American shows, but when the tour went international, he switched up the phrase each night. And yes, we track that. Swift knew all too well each crowd had "10 minutes to spare," and she played her longest song, in total, for about 14 hours.

She was only tied to the "Invisible String" for five shows and traded the opening "Folklore" era number to "The 1" in Arlington, before news of her split from actor Joe Alwyn . She brought "Invisible String" back for one night in Nashville because the Tennessee capital is home to Centennial Park. Nashvillians also noticed that Swift switched a note during "The 1" lyric "you meet a woman on the internet and take her home." She kept the key change for every succeeding show.

Right before the first lyric of "Style" during the "1989" set, fans began a tradition of saying, "What time is it?" to which the singer replied, "Midnight, you come and pick me up." In Sydney, Australia, a "Blank Space" chant from the 1989 World Tour was reborn and repeated in Singapore. Taylor Nation, Swift's marketing team, tweeted that it hopes fans at every tour stop going forward shout their city. In Philadelphia, a "Bad Blood" remix originated when Swift noticed a security guard hassling a fan . "She's fine. She wasn't doing anything. Hey! Stop! Hey, stop!" became the cool thing to say after, "It's so sad to think about the good times, you and I." Fans also incorporated a Kendrick Lamar line from the "Bad Blood" remix: "You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go."

And then came the surprise set . (More on her collaborators and announcements below.) Each night, Swift performed one song on the guitar and one on the piano that she hadn't yet performed on the tour. That is until 2024, when she added mashups and threw out her rule of never repeating songs. At the end of the set, she swan dives into a hole in the stage. Fans later caught a red light that turned green to signal it was safe to jump.

After meeting her at "Midnights," fans sang Jack Antonoff's version of "Anti-Hero." When Swift sings "tale as old as time," the crowd chimes in, "Taylor, you'll be fine." Tyler Conroy made a viral video of him screaming , "Where you going Taylor?" during "Bejeweled" before she sings, "I'm going out tonight," and the trend caught on like a blaze ripping through the Lover house. Finally, after Swift changed the lyrics to, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs," in Argentina with her boyfriend Travis Kelce in the crowd, that became the standard for fans. She has only sang it that way four times, when he was in attendance in Buenos Aires, Sydney and Singapore.

If you would direct your attention to the back screen

In addition to boosting economies everywhere she went, Swift created an abundance of news. She announced "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" in Nashville. She announced a new version of "Midnights" and premiered the "Karma (Remix)" music video featuring Ice Spice as the upstart rapper joined Swift in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" right before her Kansas City, Missouri, stop and then debuted the "I Can See You" music video starring Taylor Lautner and Joey King who were at the show. Lautner backflipped on the catwalk.

It might have seemed strange that Swift ended the American leg of her tour on a Wednesday in Los Angeles, but not to the eagle-eyed Swiftie who realized the date was 8/9. That's the day she announced the rerecording of her fifth album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)." The album came out during her break before her Argentina tour dates. It topped the Billboard charts and allowed her to bypass Elvis for the most weeks with an album at No. 1.

Then, she announced her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," at the Grammys after winning her 13th career award. At her tour stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, she revealed there were four total versions of "Tortured Poets" and told fans they would get a different bonus track on each one : "The Manuscript," "The Bolter," "The Albatross" and "The Black Dog."

Welcome to the acoustic set

One of the most anticipated portions of an Eras Tour show is the acoustic set. At most of the concerts, she only spoke before the guitar song. In rare instances, she tested the microphone before the piano song and made an announcement.

Occasionally she invited collaborators to join her onstage. Marcus Mumford surprised fans in Las Vegas to play "Cowboy Like Me." Her co-producer and close friend Aaron Dessner from The National joined her six times on stage, in Tampa (twice), Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Santa Clara. Jack Antonoff came out to play "Getaway Car" in New Jersey. Maren Morris did a "You All Over Me" duet in Chicago. When their opening acts were canceled for weather, Gracie Abrams performed "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" and Sabrina Carpenter sang a dyad mashup of "White Horse" and "Coney Island."

Some of the surprise songs came with hidden messages. Fans speculated she sang "Bigger Than The Whole Sky" as an ode to a fan who died , "End Game" to Travis Kelce watching her show from the VIP tent and "Gold Rush" as a congratulations to Jason Kelce for retiring. She has performed "You're On Your Own Kid" five times, in Tampa, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo and Singapore.

And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV

To close out the first year of the Eras Tour, Swift released the third film version of her concert to streaming service Disney+. This version included "Cardigan" and four acoustic songs: "Maroon," "Death By A Thousand Cuts," "You Are In Love" and "I Can See You."

The second version came out on Swift's birthday, Dec. 13. Fans could rent it for 48 hours at a price of $19.89, and it included "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams" and "Long Live" cut from the original movie.

The original movie was released Oct. 13, in the middle of the Hollywood strikes. Swift did what studios and streaming services were unable to: make a deal with SAG-AFTRA. She worked with the unions and was able to market and show her movie how she saw fit. The film made more than $250 million globally and got her nominated for a Golden Globe award .

If you're still with me on this walk down Eras Tour Lane, it's important to make one final note before the tour resumes in Paris in May. Before her magnum opus took off higher than the "Bad Blood" flames, Swift chose "Mirrorball" and "Tim McGraw" to be her very first surprise songs. She ended year one with the same two songs, but flipped the instruments she played them on in a full-circle moment.

Her new album will come out April 19 and the full Eras Tour is streaming on Disney+, which begs the question: What her show will look like come Paris? She has a two-month break before 69 shows scheduled for Europe and North America. She also has two rerecords left to release: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and her self-titled debut album.

If there's one thing any Swiftie knows, it's Taylor Swift's ability to make news and create lasting memories through her record-shattering tour. What a first year; on to year two!

Taylor Swift may be famous for evolving her personal style to suit each of her musical eras , but Roberto Cavalli’s been a constant in her sartorial storytelling since the start.

So it’s no surprise that when it came time to create the costumes for her blockbuster Eras Tour , Swift turned to the brand’s creative director, Fausto Puglisi, to put a fresh spin on some of her most iconic looks — like the gold fringed Cavalli minidress from her 2011 “Speak Now” tour, which inspired the similarly swingy style she wears for the “Fearless” section of the show.

“When Joseph [Cassell Falconer, Swift’s stylist] and Taylor started talking about the fringe [look], we went back to the archives. It was a very 2000s moment, but I proposed something a little lighter,” Puglisi tells Page Six Style, adding that there’s far more to this metallic mini than meets the eye.

Taylor Swift "Speak Now" tour

“Every single fringe is made of very, very small beads connected to each other. It’s a work of couture and a work of craftsmanship. Taylor deserves the best!”

In order to “understand the best place to fix every single fringe,” the Sicilian designer worked off a mannequin with Swift’s exact measurements, arranging the strands in a playful zigzag pattern for maximum movement.

“It’s extremely fresh, extremely cool, extremely young and modern, but at the same time, a work of art that’s so intricate and so precise,” he says of the final look, which incorporates three different shades of gold for extra dimension. “It’s a lot of work, but she deserves this and more.”

While the “Fearless” dress (and its several variations) has been a constant since the tour’s April 2023 kickoff, Puglisi’s also peppered in new looks to keep fans on their toes; most recently, by replacing the fringed, geometric-patterned tops and skirts Swift wore for the “1989” portion of her North American shows with a series of colorful, crystal-embellished ombrĂ© sets for the tour’s European leg.

“I said, ‘Let’s go back to her roots.’ It’s about youth,” Puglisi says of the flirty, flared skater skirts and strappy bustiers. “The inspiration was Taylor herself.”

And while the designer whipped up the same top-and-skirt combo in “20-something” colors — “and there’s more coming,” he teases — it was Swift’s idea to mix and match them “like she mixes [musical] notes.”

“I designed [them] thinking about mixing orange with orange, turquoise with turquoise, purple with purple,” he explains. “But when we met in Paris, Joseph said, ‘She likes to mix [them] together!’ I start screaming from happiness, because I’m obsessed with color-blocking; it’s so ‘Miami Vice’ and it’s so colorful and it’s so fresh. There is this sense of freedom in mixing these colors.”

As for whether the big cat emblem adorning each of the tops is an Easter egg, as some fans have theorized ? They’re not entirely off; while it’s a brand signifier, it also nods to Swift’s well-documented fondness for felines.

“Wildcats are part of the DNA of Cavalli, so I said, ‘Why don’t we put the brooch here?’ And she loved it,” Puglisi says. “She loves cats, I love cats!”

The designer looked to a different animal for inspiration when dreaming up the perfect look for the “Reputation” portion of Swift’s show: the snake.

“When Joseph explained to me [that she’s] the queen of snakes, I thought that was a fantastic idea. And at the end of the day, it became so iconic,” Puglisi says of his asymmetrical catsuit adorned with sparkly intertwined serpents.

Fans have noticed that while Swift alternates between a few different looks for the other “eras” of her show, we’ve only seen one “Reputation” costume — and that, coincidentally, the superstar has yet to reveal the release date for her re-recorded version of that album. With an announcement looming, could new catsuits be in the works?

“You will never know,” Puglisi says with a laugh. “She loves to surprise people!”

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

Some Swifties have even joked about her “Reputation” look “shedding” like an actual snake — and Puglisi acknowledges that when outfits designed with delicate embellishments are being worn for hours-long performances night after night, wear and tear is par for the course.

“We have dictates, of course; the zipper must be one way, we have to be careful with crystal [placement]. There are so many secrets,” he says, adding that Swift’s stylist is “fantastic” at ensuring any snags or missing sequins are fixed in between shows.

“Joseph is the real genius behind the scenes. People like Joseph, they have the vision, and they know how to handle these dramas.”

And while he calls the experience of designing her Eras Tour outfits a “dream,” Puglisi points to the “Midnights”-coded navy crop top and maxi skirt the musician wore the the 2023 Grammys as his personal favorite Swift-related project.

“It really looks like a midnight sky,” he says. “So chic, but very strong. And that’s what she is!”

Taylor Swift Grammys 2023

While Swift’s been a “Cavalli girl” for well over a decade — even sitting front row at one of the brand’s Milan runway shows in 2010 — her relationship with Puglisi dates back to before he joined the company in 2020.

“Before I started designing Roberto Cavalli, I had my own line, and she supported my collection since the beginning,” he notes of the star, who wore a look from his namesake label in her 2017 music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.”

“So many [fashion] houses want to dress Taylor because she’s the No. 1. I dress Taylor because I love Taylor.”

Taylor Swift knew exactly what she was doing bringing Travis Kelce onstage

  • Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance onstage at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in London.
  • It's the first time Swift has invited a boyfriend to share the spotlight during one of her concerts.
  • The cameo evokes the 1989 World Tour — before Swift pulled back from the public eye.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift is no stranger to bringing guests onstage. But during her latest show in London on the Eras Tour on Sunday, she had a very special one: her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Dressed in a ringmaster ensemble, the football star popped up during a costume-change skit that acts as the prelude to Swift's performance of " I Can Do It With a Broken Heart ." Before she delivered the first lyric, Swift even broke character to blow Kelce a kiss.

Of course, Swift and Kelce haven't been shy about kissing, cuddling, and supporting each other's endeavors since they began dating last summer . But Kelce's cameo gave PDA a whole new meaning. Never before had Swift invited a boyfriend to share the spotlight during one of her concerts, never mind one on a legacy-cementing billion-dollar tour .

The move seems even more surprising and extravagant in contrast to Swift's previous relationship with the British actor Joe Alwyn . During their six years together, both stars fiercely protected their privacy and were rarely seen together in public.

But for longtime Swifties, those who predate her relationship with Alwyn, Sunday's events may feel more familiar than strange — almost like a callback to simpler times.

In the first half of her career, Swift wasn't shy about her most romantic whims. She posted photos of heart-shaped lockets and tropical getaways . She took seaside strolls with her boyfriend's mom. She wore ball gowns and belted starry-eyed ballads while suspended in the air on flying balconies . Swift loved a grand gesture, both real and imaginary.

This was especially evident during the 1989 World Tour , which ran for nearly seven months in 2015. No, Swift's boyfriend at the time, Calvin Harris, did not make a surprise appearance. But pretty much everyone else did — from close friends like Karlie Kloss and Lena Dunham to athletes like Kobe Bryant and all manner of musicians and rock stars. Every night brought a new face, a new thrill, a new thread in the vast web of Swiftian lore.

Related stories

At the time, the "1989" era marked the peak of Swift's fame. Mostly thanks to her talent and partially thanks to her self-spun underdog narrative, she had enjoyed years of headlines like " Taylor Swift: America's sweetheart " and " Taylor Swift Is the Music Industry ."

With her new synth-pop sound, inescapable singles like "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space," a " squad " full of supermodels, and a cameo-packed tour, Swift was everywhere. So, as often happens with female celebrities , her success went from charming to grating. A new kind of headline began to pop up, immortalized by Dayna Evans' Gawker essay " Taylor Swift Is Not Your Friend ," which criticized her tour antics as "opportunistic and sinister."

Then came the infamous phone call. When Kim Kardashian shared a snippet of Swift's conversation with Ye about his song "Famous" that seemed to contradict Swift's version of events, the world was already ready to turn on her. In Swift's own words , she was "canceled within an inch of my life and sanity."

The backlash forced the self-described " mastermind " to recalculate her strategy and pull back from the public eye . She still released big pop bangers and went on tour, but her movements felt more careful, sparing, and protective.

Ever since Swift kicked off the Eras Tour last year (and split from Alwyn shortly after), she's gradually returned to her precancellation mentality. It's perhaps the most classic Swiftian ideology: More is more. This can apply to everything and anything — more songs , more hours onstage , more CD variants , and, naturally, more photo ops with her hunky boyfriend. She risks being overexposed again, but maybe this time, she knows she'll survive.

Indeed, Swift told Time in December that she's not interested in being "locked away" anymore, in exerting "an extreme amount of effort" to hide her passion and enthusiasm from the world, including her bond with Kelce.

"When you say a relationship is public, that means I'm going to see him do what he loves, we're showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don't care," she said.

In this respect, Kelce may be the perfect match for Swift. After all, their relationship started after he mentioned on his podcast that he wanted to meet her; he's a businessman ( and a ham ) in his own right. His managers have been open about their plan to make him "as famous as the Rock."

For these two peas in a pod, personal triumphs are communal by trade, whether it's a touchdown at the Super Bowl or a first kiss that inspires a smash hit.

"Ultimately, we can convolute it all we want, or try to overcomplicate it," Swift told Time. "But there's only one question: Are you not entertained?"

Ever the performer, Swift knows exactly what she's doing. As much as maximalism is true to Swift's brand, it's also good for business.

Swift's music indicates that she is expressive, theatrical, and sentimental at her core. Her net worth proves that she's skilled at monetizing those qualities. After all, Swift made her name as a confessional songwriter, transforming her intimate moments into morsels for public consumption.

Perhaps bringing Kelce onstage felt as natural to Swift as writing a love song about him. But as Swift well knows, both will generate headlines.

So much for “So Long, London.” As she continues her record-breaking Eras Tour, 34-year-old Taylor Swift made a major splash during her first stop in the British capital city.

Two nights later, Kelce made a surprise appearance onstage , briefly performing and helping Swift with an outfit change before she sang “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” from her new album, The Tortured Poets Department . “I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut đŸ„°,” Swift wrote on Instagram as part of a recap post about the weekend. “Never going to forget these shows. Can’t wait to do it 5 more times in August.”

FULL NAME: Taylor Alison Swift BORN: December 13, 1989 BIRTHPLACE: Reading, Pennsylvania ASTROLOGICAL SIGN: Sagittarius

Taylor Alison Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on December 13, 1989. Swift spent her early years with her parents, Scott and Andrea, and brother, Austin, on the family’s Christmas tree farm in nearby Wyomissing. “I had the most magical childhood, running free and going anywhere I wanted to in my head,” she told Rolling Stone . She learned to ride horses and competed, but a greater passion soon took root.

Swift followed in the musical footsteps of her grandmother Marjorie Finlay, a professional opera singer. By age 10, Swift sang at various local events, including fairs and contests. She sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game at age 11 and began learning guitar and writing her own songs at 12. (Her songwriting parallels the poetry of her distant cousin Emily Dickinson .) Her early music idols included Shania Twain and The Chicks.

To pursue her music career, Swift often visited Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital. There, she co-wrote songs and tried to land a recording contract. Noting her dedication, her family moved to nearby Hendersonville when she was 13 in an attempt to further young Swift’s career. She attended Hendersonville High School before finishing her education through the homeschooling program of Aaron Academy, a private Christian school, once her musical career took off.

One of today’s biggest pop stars, Swift has worked her way from performing at local venues in Tennessee to commanding stadiums full of Swifties—her adoring fans—on international tours. A stellar performance at The Bluebird CafĂ© in Nashville helped her get a contract with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records at age 14.

She spent her early career as a country musician, and her first single, “ Tim McGraw ,” was named after one of the genre’s biggest stars. The 2006 song, which she wrote in her first-year math class, became a Top 10 hit on Billboard ’s country charts, quickly launching Swift into the spotlight. McGraw and fellow country music singer Faith Hill even brought Swift on their Soul2Soul tour the next year as an opening act. Reminiscing on the tour years later, McGraw told ET Canada , “Faith and I both knew that there was no stopping her. She’s a special talent.”

It wasn’t long before Swift began receiving critical praise for her work. The teenager won the Horizon Award from the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for Top New Female Vocalist in 2007. The following year, she was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. She became the youngest artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year for Fearless in 2010.

The country music darling eventually began experimenting with genre. With her fifth album, 1989 , she decisively reintroduced herself as a pop musician. Her new sound excited fans, and the 2014 release is one of her most successful to date, spending 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 and selling more than 1.2 million copies in its first week.

Not everything about her music changed, though. Personal experiences, including her romantic relationships, continue to fuel Swift’s songwriting. “I’m enthralled by relationships, and I love the drama in them, but that’s usually where it lives,” Swift told Rolling Stone in 2009, maintaining “I’m not a dramatic person.” Hardly the first musician to utilize this practice, the pop star usually doesn’t reveal who her song subjects. Instead, her loyal fans obsess over easter eggs in her lyrics and music videos to pinpoint a likely person.

Since March 2023, Swift has been performing on her headline-grabbing Eras Tour. It marks her sixth international tour, having first headlined her own concert series after releasing her sophomore album, Fearless . When presale tickets for the Eras Tour went live in November 2022, so many fans attempted to snag their seats that Ticketmaster canceled the general sale, leading to a congressional hearing about the debacle. Already one of the highest-grossing touring musicians as of July 2022, Swift has earned more than $1 billion on the Eras Tour , surpassing Elton John ’s record-setting farewell tour that spanned five years. The Eras Tour wraps in December 2024 after dozens more concerts, mostly abroad.

Swift’s successes in 2023 also include: the release of the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album, the record-setting concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , two more No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, tying with Drake as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards in history, dethroning Bad Bunny as Spotify’s and Apple Music’s most streamed artist of the year, and achieving billionaire status. All that culminated in Time naming her its 2023 Person of the Year. Swift is the fifth woman to receive the honor.

Early in 2024, Swift became the first artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times, further cementing her place in the history books.

taylor swift smiles and stands while holding three grammy awards, she wears a strapless orange and hot pink gown with a gold chocker necklace

Swift has won 14 Grammy Awards out of 52 nominations.

She was first nominated in 2008 for Best New Artist. Although Amy Winehouse claimed the honor, 20-year-old Swift lived up to her promising career start by collecting four Grammys the following year. Fearless won Album of the Year and Best Country Album, and “White Horse” was named Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2009.

Swift has now won Album of the Year four times: for Fearless , 1989 , folklore , and Midnights. She is the only artist to have accomplished this feat, setting the record in 2024. Midnights also won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album this year.

Even so, Swift has never won the top song honor of Song of the Year, though she has received a record seven nominations in the category. As for Best Country Song, the artist has won twice in five nominations; “Mean” earned the trophy the year after “White Horse” did.

The singer-songwriter has won many other accolades, including nine CMA Awards and eight ACM Awards. Both country music organizations have twice named her Entertainer of the Year. Since her first in 2009, Swift has taken home 23 Video Music Awards, second only to BeyoncĂ© . Billboard called her Woman of the Year in 2012, one of Swift’s 39 awards from the publication. She is tied with Drake for as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards trophies.

In December 2023, Swift notched another first when she received her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour . Her concert film competed in but didn’t win Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the January 2024 ceremony.

Since her first single, “Tim McGraw,” in 2006, Swift’s music has found a home on the Billboard charts. As of June 24, 2024, she has had 263 songs grace the mainstream Hot 100. That includes 12 No. 1 hits and a record-setting 59 songs in the top 10; no woman has had more top 10 hits, and Swift only trails Drake among all artists. She also holds nine No. 1 Hot Country Songs, including “Our Song” and “Should’ve Said No.”

“Fearless” debuted at No. 9 on the mainstream chart in November 2008, marking Swift’s first top 10 song. Her first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper was roughly four years away. That came in September 2012 with Grammy-nominated “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Her other No 1. songs include:

  • “Shake It Off”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Bad Blood”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”
  • “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”
  • “Anti-Hero”
  • “Cruel Summer”
  • “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From The Vault]”
  • “Fortnight”

At 10 minutes and 13 seconds, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” is the longest No. 1 hit in history. “Shake It Off” is Swift’s only diamond-certified song, having sold the equivalent of 10 million copies.

To date, Swift has released 19 albums, including 11 original studio albums, four rereleases, and four live albums. Excluding those live recordings, every album since her sophomore effort, Fearless , has nabbed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for at least one week. In December 2023, she became the first living artist to have five albums simultaneously rank among the chart’s top 10.

Her first album came in 2006 with Taylor Swift , and her newest album is 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department . Her latest rerecorded album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , debuted in October 2023. Her albums, in order, are:

The young musician’s self-titled debut album was released in October 2006 when she was 16. Spurred on by the success of songs like “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops on My Guitar,” and “Our Song,” it became a No. 1 country album in August 2007 and held the top spot for a total of 24 weeks. Indicating her future crossover success, the album also reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Taylor Swift has sold more than 7 million copies to date.

In November 2008, Swift released her next album, Fearless , which quickly hit the top of both the country and pop charts, marking her first No. 1 mainstream album. It maintained its apex ranking on the charts for weeks on end. By the end of the year, Swift had become 2008’s highest-selling country artist.

Now a Diamond-certified album, Fearless earned Swift her first Grammy Awards in January 2010. In addition to Best Country Album, it took home one of the night’s top honors with Album of the Year. The track “White Horse” won Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, while “You Belong With Me” was nominated for three Grammys. Also named Album of the Year at the CMA and ACM Awards, Fearless featured the top 10 hits “Love Story,” “Fearless,” and “Change.”

After skeptics doubted her involvement in her songwriting, Swift chose to write her next album alone. Speak Now came out in October 2010 and immediately found success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 1 million copies in its first week. Popular tracks included “Mine,” “Back To December,” “Speak Now,” and the Grammy-winning “Mean.” Swift was once again nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammys but didn’t win.

Edging her way into pop music, Swift followed with Red , which featured her first No. 1 single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and also topped 1 million in its first week of sales. The October 2012 release collected Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Country Album. “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Red,” and “Begin Again” were among its most popular songs.

With her next effort, Swift stepped outside her country music roots squarely into mainstream pop. She released 1989 in October 2014. It tied her record (set by Fearless ) for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, produced three chart-topping singles, and moved more than 1.2 million copies in its first week. That made Swift the first artist to pass the 1 million mark in opening-week sales for three albums. She won her second Album of the Year award at the Grammys in February 2016 as well as Best Pop Vocal Album for her work.

In late August 2017, using an image of a snake, Swift revealed that she would release her sixth studio album, reputation , that November. Swift debuted the first single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” on August 24. In the music video, Swift played characters of all her misrepresentations. The video had more than 19 million views on YouTube within the first day.

Days before reputation ’s scheduled November 10 release, its secret tracklist was leaked to social media. Swift responded by posting the complete list to her Instagram page: 15 songs, including a collaborative effort with Ed Sheeran and rapper Future titled “End Game.” The two later appeared in the video for the track, which debuted in January 2018.

Reputation sold 1.05 million copies in the United States over its first four days. Along with giving the artist her fourth consecutive album to surpass 1 million in sales for its opening week, that total made reputation the top-selling album of 2017. Its success continued into 2018, surpassing 2 million in sales while generating the release of seven singles. By the end of the year, Grammy-nominated reputation had been honored with Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the American Music Awards and Top Selling Album at the Billboard Music Awards.

On April 26, 2019, Swift debuted “ME!” with Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco, along with a video of the duo singing and dancing amid a panoply of elaborate sets and swirling colors. It became the first single from her seventh studio album, Lover , with “You Need to Calm Down” and the title track also hitting the airwaves as singles over the next few months. The album was released in August.

In November, Swift claimed a whopping six wins at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year and Artist of the Decade honors. Swift also received her third consecutive Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. A few weeks later, it was reported that Lover was the only album to sell 1 million copies in the U.S. in 2019.

Nearly four years later, Lover ’s “Cruel Summer” was promoted as her latest single amid her highly successful Eras tour. The song enjoyed renewed success, becoming Swift’s 10 th song to top the Billboard Hot 100.

On July 23, 2020, Swift announced on Instagram that she planned to release her eighth studio album, folklore . The 16-track album—made with Aaron Dessner of The National, Jack Antonoff of Bleachers, and Justin Vernon, better known as Bon Iver—debuted the next day at midnight. The alternative influence of her collaborators was apparent throughout.

Folklore produced the top 10 hits “The 1” and “Exile” featuring Bon Iver, plus went on to win Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys. Swift also made history that year, becoming the only female solo artist to win that award three times.

Less than six months later, Swift dropped another surprise album to accompany folklore . She announced on December 10, 2020, that evermore would release at midnight the next day. “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” Swift wrote in a social media post . “In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.” Evermore earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, though unlike its sister album, it didn’t win.

Swift released her 10 th studio album, Midnights , at midnight on October 21, 2022. Three hours later, she released seven extra tracks in a deluxe version titled Midnights (3 am Edition) . The album broke new ground for the already prolific Swift, making her the first artist to have a song on all of the top 10 slots on the Billboard Hot 100. That included “Anti-Hero” at No. 1, “Snow On The Beach” featuring Lana Del Rey , “Lavender Haze,” and “Karma.” Actor ZoĂ« Kravitz earned writing credits on the latter two songs, and Jack Antonoff played a heavy hand in the album’s creation, cowriting 11 of Midnights ’ 13 songs.

The Tortured Poets Department

At the 2024 Grammy Awards , Swift announced her next album, The Tortured Poets Department , would arrive on April 19, 2024. Fans were in for an even bigger surprise early that morning when the singer revealed it was a double album. The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology included 15 additional songs, bringing the total to 31 tracks.

Tortured Poets marks Swift’s 14 th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, tying Jay-Z’s record for most among solo artists. Only The Beatles have more, at 19. Within 12 hours of its release, Tortured Poets broke the single-day streaming record on Spotify before becoming the most streamed album across platforms in a single week in history. Fans in the United States streamed the collection more than 891.3 million times , according to data firm Luminate.

Taylor’s Version albums

After the master recordings to her first six studio albums were sold in 2019, Swift decided to rerecord her old music to regain artistic and financial control of her catalog. So far, she has released four of six: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021,  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in July 2023, and  1989 (Taylor’s Version) in October 2023 . Each included previously unreleased songs labeled as “From The Vault,” some of which she recorded with fellow musicians Keith Urban , Ed Sheeran , Chris Stapleton , and Phoebe Bridgers, among others.

Swift hasn’t shared when she will rerelease Taylor Swift and reputation .

When she was 26, Swift was the highest-paid musician—and celebrity of any industry—of 2016 per Forbes , earning $170 million. It was one successful year among many, allowing the pop star to amass a substantial net worth. By late October 2023, Swift had become a billionaire, according to Bloomberg .

As of June 24, 2024, Forbes estimates Swift has a net worth of $1.3 billion. The publication also reports she is the first person to become a billionaire primarily from songwriting and performing. In 2023, she earned an estimated $131 million on Spotify alone, as the platform’s worldwide top-streamed artist of the year.

Her wealth has skyrocketed in the past year and a half, fueled by the pop star’s highly successful Eras Tour. Pollstar reported in December 2023 that the ongoing tour has earned $1,039,263,762 , making Swift the first musician to gross over $1 billion on a single tour. The trade publication previously estimated the tour brings in $14 million in ticket sales each night.

Swift ranks No. 17 on Pollstar ’s list of highest-grossing touring artists since 1980, selling nearly $925 million in tickets from her first five tours and other appearances as of July 2022. The only women higher on the list are Madonna , Celine Dion , and BeyoncĂ© .

Contributing to her overall net worth are her real estate holdings. According to Business Insider , her properties total $84 million. She also has lucrative endorsement deals with Capitol One, Stella McCartney, Diet Coke, Apple, and more.

Over the years, the musician has shared some of her fortune to help others. For example, in 2013, she funded the $4 million Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. The facility opened with three classrooms, a learning lab, and a space dedicated to exhibits for children. In an interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown , she explained that “music education is really such an important part of my life. My life changed so completely when I discovered writing my own songs and playing guitar, and that can’t necessarily all be taught to you in school because there aren’t enough hours in the day.”

The megastar has been involved in a few legal disputes, which all have gone in her favor. In August 2017, she testified in a trial against David Mueller, a former radio DJ she accused of groping her four years earlier. Mueller denied Swift’s allegations and said the incident cost him his job, which led him to sue Swift, her mother, and a radio station employee in 2015. Swift countersued him for alleged assault and battery, and a jury ruled in her favor in 2017, awarding her $1 in damages as a symbolic gesture.

Swift responded to the verdict: “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society, and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

Also in 2017, Swift was on the receiving end of a lawsuit when two songwriters claimed that she stole the chorus of their song “Playas Gon’ Play” for her hit “Shake It Off.” Although a judge dismissed the case in early 2018 on the grounds that the “allegedly infringed lyrics are short phrases that lack the modicum of originality and creativity required for copyright protection,” an appeals court revived the suit in October 2019. Shortly before the trial was scheduled to begin, a judge dismissed the case in December 2022 at the request of both parties. A few media outlets reported a settlement, but if so, the terms weren’t publicly released.

The musician was trapped in another copyright lawsuit when a Mississippi woman claimed “a number of creative elements” from her self-published poetry book appeared in Swift’s companion book for her Lover (2019) album. The author sued in August 2022 but voluntarily dropped her case the next July.

In November 2018, Swift signed with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. The deal granted the musician ownership of her master recordings, something she didn’t have in her agreement with her first label, Big Machine Records.

The next June, Swift revealed her dismay that Big Machine sold her catalog of music from her first six albums, up to reputation , to a company owned by Scooter Braun , the now-retired manager of artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande and a person she accused of bullying tactics. “Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,” she wrote on Tumblr . “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.” Just before the August 2019 release of Lover , Swift confirmed she would rerecord her old music to regain artistic and financial control of her catalog.

Swift’s catalog was sold again, in October 2020, to Shamrock Holdings for around $300 million. In a lengthy post on Twitter (now called X), Swift gave her fans an update:

“As you know, for the past year, I’ve been actively trying to regain ownership of my master recordings. With that goal in mind, my team attempted to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun. “Scooter’s team wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word about Scooter Braun unless it was positive, before we could even look at the financial records of BMLG... I would have to sign a document that would silence me forever before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work. My legal team said that this is absolutely NOT normal, and they’ve never seen an NDA like this presented unless it was to silence an assault accuser by paying them off. He would never even quote my team a price. These master recordings were not for sale to me.”

Swift added the deal still allows Braun to profit from her music and that she was in the process of re-recording her old music. Her first rerecorded release, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” came in mid-February 2021. So far, she has reissued four of six albums from her early catalog.

travis kelce and taylor swift stand on a football field at night, he has one arm around her shoulders and they hold hands

Currently, Swift is dating NFL football player Travis Kelce . On a July 2023 episode of his New Heights podcast , Kelce explained how he tried to give Swift his number on a friendship bracelet after attending the Eras Tour in Kansas City. Soon after, Swift reached out, and they went public with their romance in the fall. “Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them... I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce told The Wall Street Journal . “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.”

Swift attended 12 of his NFL games in the 2023 season and postseason. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she told Time . “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Kelce returned the support in mid-November 2023, traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to attend one of her concerts on the Eras Tour. During the show, Swift changed one of her lyrics in the song “Karma” to reference Kelce, and the couple were caught kissing on camera for the first time . At a June 2024 concert in London, Kelce briefly joined Swift on stage, helping her complete an outfit change between songs.

Over the years, Swift has dated several celebrities. During much of 2008, reports circulated that she was dating musician Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers. The song “Forever & Always” is reportedly about Jonas. The following year, Swift briefly dated actor Taylor Lautner , whom she met while they filmed the 2010 movie Valentine’s Day . Swift then dated fellow singer-songwriter John Mayer for a brief period beginning in late 2009; he’s thought to be the inspiration for her song “Dear John.”

From there, Swift was romantically linked to actors Cory Monteith and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010, then Conor Kennedy—son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. —in 2012. She celebrated the new year with One Direction’s Harry Styles in 2013, but the relationship ended later that year. In 2015, Swift dated DJ and music producer Calvin Harris, though the couple reportedly broke up in June 2016. Shortly after that, the pop star began dating actor Tom Hiddleston , but the couple split three months later.

Swift’s longest relationship to date was with actor Joe Alwyn. The pair met at the 2016 Met Gala and were together from 2017 until spring 2023. Beyond being another boyfriend to spark her songwriting, Alwyn also helped write songs on her folklore , evermore , and Midnights albums under the pseudonym William Bowery. After their breakup, Swift briefly dated musician Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975 band.

Beyond her romantic relationships, Swift has had many high-profile friendships—with singer and actor Selena Gomez , model Karlie Kloss , and actor Blake Lively , to name a few—as well as headline-making feuds. Chief among those is her beef with rapper Kanye West .

kayne west speaks into a handheld microphone on a stage as taylor swift stands feet away holding a silver trophy, he wears a black shirt with jeans and sunglasses, she wears a bejeweled one strap dress

In 2009, when Swift won the MTV Video Music Award’s Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me,” West led to the stage as the young singer gave her acceptance speech. He took the mic and famously declared, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but BeyoncĂ© had one of the best videos of all time!”

The stunned Swift could not finish her acceptance speech, and West was removed from the show. When Beyoncé accepted her award for Best Video of the Year later in the night, she called Swift to the stage to finish her speech. West later apologized to Swift privately and publicly on The Jay Leno Show .

In early 2016, West released his song “Famous,” which includes a lyric taking credit for her fame and calling her a derogatory word. The rapper said Swift had approved the line in a phone call, though her team initially denied the conversation. Days later, Swift said in a Grammys acceptance speech:

“I wanna say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who loved you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

Kim Kardashian , who was married to West then, defended her husband in a GQ interview that summer and released clips of the phone call between the musicians. Although edited, the recordings proved Swift’s PR team had been lying in their initial statement. Kardashian also implied Swift was a snake in a July 2016 social media post . The pop star alluded to the fight in the songs “Look What You Made Me Do” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” from her reputation (2017) album. She has also used snakes in music videos and onstage in concerts. The feud briefly reignited in March 2020 when a 25-minute video of the phone conversation leaked online.

Previously having released several concert movies, Swift made a bigger splash with her Netflix documentary Miss Americana . The January 2020 release covered the makings of her recent studio albums as well as other high-profile events like her sexual assault trial. Miss Americana earned a limited run in theaters simultaneously to its streaming release.

Swift’s newest concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , capitalizes on her massive star power. The film opened exclusively in theaters—3,850 locations in North America alone—in October 2023. According to Comscore, no other concert movie enjoyed as wide of a release . It also had showtimes in some 90 other countries and grossed more than $261 million worldwide , making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time . Swift sweetened the show for at-home viewers with two extended versions. Disney+ subscribers can watch the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) , featuring five additional songs. The movie is also available for rent on other streaming platforms with three additional songs.

Swift has also dabbled in acting. She appeared in the 2010 blockbuster Valentine’s Day alongside Julia Roberts , Jamie Foxx , Jessica Biel , Bradley Cooper , and other Hollywood heavyweights. A voice role in The Lorax (2012) and another role in The Giver (2014) followed. In December 2019, Swift was featured in a live-action adaptation of the famed Broadway musical Cats , along with Jennifer Hudson , James Corden , and Rebel Wilson . She also teamed with Cats creator Andrew Lloyd Webber to write a song, “Beautiful Ghosts,” for the movie. Swift also had a cameo in 2022’s Amsterdam .

Taylor Swift visited Cincy 1 year ago. Our favorite memories, plus what has happened since

taylor swift 1989 tour top

Sunday and Monday mark one-year since Taylor Swift took over Cincinnati with two Eras Tour shows .

The concerts, which filled up Paycor Stadium on June 30 and July 1, 2023, put a spotlight on the Queen City and Swift's tour has since reportedly become the highest grossing tour of all time .

And it's still creating headlines.

Last weekend, her shows in London saw celebrities (and royalty) come out in droves. Swift's boyfriend, University of Cincinnati alum Travis Kelce, made an internet-breaking appearance onstage .

So in honor of the year mark of Swift's Cincinnati visit, we pulled together our five favorite moments from the two concerts, as well as five notable milestones in Swift's life/career since the shows. A lot happened that weekend. Even more has taken place since.

5 memorable moments from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows in Cincinnati

Celebrities traveled to the queen city.

No, Cincinnati isn't London, New York City or Los Angeles, but there were still notable guests at Swift's shows here last year.

"Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown  was spotted at a VIP tent before Swift took the stage June 30. Our photographer, Sam Greene, documented it in a photo. Brown's now husband, actor Jake Bongiovi, was also in attendance to see the "Midnights" singer perform.

Taylor Swift gave Cincinnati not 2, but 3 surprise songs

Swifties across the globe went wild during the July 1 show, as Swift performed three surprise songs for the Cincinnati audience , a changeup from the two surprise tracks she normally plays at her shows. The weather forecast for the night forced Swift to move up the show by an hour, which cut Gracie Abrams' opening act from the lineup.

Abrams still performed that night, though, as she sang her song "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" alongside Swift during the pop star's highly anticipated acoustic portion. Swift also sang her "Call It What You Want" from "Reputation" and "Ivy" from "Evermore."

The Cincinnati boy came home

Also during the July 1 acoustic portion, Cincinnati native and The National founder Aaron Dessner, who has collaborated with Swift on multiple albums , took the stage in his hometown. He performed "Ivy" with Swift, a track he co-wrote and produced on her 2020 album.

"It's hard to describe what it felt like to play 'Ivy' from 'evermore' last night with (Taylor Swift) in the town I grew up in, where I learned to play music in the first place," Dessner wrote on Instagram afterward , alongside a video of the performance. "Grateful as always to Taylor and all of you for listening."

Fans showed up in a big way

Swift has a dedicated fan base, and they certainly made their presence felt during her Cincinnati shows. People lined up for blocks just to purchase official Eras Tour merch . Fans who couldn't buy tickets to the shows sat outside Paycor Stadium just to hear Swift sing.

You can see our interactions with the fans in the merch line in the video above and how long the line was in the TikTok below.

Taylor Swift gave Cincinnati a Fourth of July weekend it'll never forget

Thanks to Swift's shows, an  Airbnb study named Cincinnati the No. 1 trending destination in the world for Fourth of July weekend last year. And it all lived up to the hype. Here's what I wrote for my key takeaway directly after Swift's June 30 Eras Tour show.

As a millennial, Taylor Swift has written the soundtrack for many of our lives. She is the voice of a generation. And that bleeds through every song during her Eras Tour shows.

But she is also quite possibly the performer of our generation. The production value of her concerts are top-notch. Swift takes fans through numerous musicals each night, with sets that include pine trees, a cabin and a moss-covered piano. The wristbands put on a high-quality light show synchronized to the music, and the show ends with beautiful fireworks.

It's like a Fourth of July celebration from when we were kids but during a concert of one of the greatest artists to ever release a song.

Every detail of the Eras Tour is well thought out, and Swift gives her devoted fan base more than just a show. She gives them a once-in-a-lifetime experience they'll never forget.

What has happened in the year since Taylor Swift visited Cincinnati?

Swift has had an eventful year since her two Cincinnati shows. Here are five notable milestones that have happened since she came to town.

Swift released 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'

Just six days after she performed in Cincinnati, Swift released the re-recorded version of her 2010 album, "Speak Now."

Like all her other re-recordings, the move came with a lot of excitement, as she also gave fans six vault tracks, including "I Can See You," "Electric Touch" with Fall Out Boy and "Castles Crumbling" with Hayley Williams.

She hard launched her new boyfriend (who has Cincinnati ties)

After performing here, Swift took her Eras Tour to Kansas City , which laid the groundwork for her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end, and University of Cincinnati alum, Travis Kelce .

The two catapulted their couple status into the public eye when Swift attended the Chiefs' game against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24, 2023, and they haven't looked back since. The pop star was there when Kelce and the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in February, and the NFL star has been to numerous Eras Tour shows, including the June 23 concert in London when he joined her onstage.

Another re-recorded album

"Speak Now" wasn't the only re-recording to come out within the past year. Swift released her version of the 2014 album "1989" in October 2023.

This time she came out with five vault songs, including the highly popular "Is It Over Now?" and "Say Don't Go."

She won a Grammy for Album of the Year

Swift's "Midnights" album won her a Grammy for Album of the Year in February, the 14th Grammy of her career.

She became the first artist to win an Album of the Year four times.

Taylor released her 11th album

During the 2024 Grammys, Swift surprised everyone when she announced she was releasing her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department."

The record has since found an abundance of success. Following its April 19 release, Swift became the first artist to take up all 14 of the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list .

Taylor has visited many locations in County Wicklow while on a romantic holiday. Her admiration for the Garden County is keenly referenced in her song, "Sweet Nothings," where she reminisces: “I spy with my little tired eye / Tiny as a firefly, a pebble / That we picked up last July / Down deep inside your pocket / We almost forgot it / Does it ever miss Wicklow sometimes?” (Photo: Business Wire)

“I spy with my little tired eye / Tiny as a firefly, a pebble / That we picked up last July / Down deep inside your pocket / We almost forgot it / Does it ever miss Wicklow sometimes?”

Ireland’s Ancient East is symbolized by a brick stitch, emblematic of the historic stone buildings that lie within this region, set against a backdrop of lush green landscapes.

The ‘Dublin’ Poets Department

Taylor Swift then made a discreet return from County Wicklow, successfully keeping a low profile while staying in a charming old coach house in Dublin , near the vibrant neighbourhood of Ranelagh.

For any budding songwriters or musicians, Windmill Lane recording studio is well worth a visit to learn about Ireland’s rich recorded music history, and where you can record your very own original song! Or visit MoLI – the Museum of Literature Ireland which has just launched a new collection dedicated to Dublin’s unique literary heritage, for some poetic inspiration.

Dublin is symbolized in the cardigan by the Hurdle stitch, evoking the cobblestones of the city.

The bespoke handknit is also adorned with hidden ‘Easter Eggs’: Taylor’s birth year and album title, ' 1989 ,' are subtly stitched into the collar, her lucky number ' 13 ' graces one sleeve cuff, and her initials 'T.S .' embellish the other. It’s a cardigan truly tailored for Taylor!

Taylor is no stranger to Northern Ireland either. The EPIC Irish Immigration Museum research has revealed her strong link to the city of Derry-Londonderry in the 1800’s and much more recently, in 2021, the star stayed in Belfast and was spotted in local spots like restaurant, Shu, and quirky cocktail bar, The Tipsy Bird. She fit right into the city, which was officially recognised as a UNESCO City of Music in the same year, reflective of Belfast's long history of producing some of the music industry's brightest stars. Production for re-release of her fourth studio album, “Red (Taylor's Version)” took place during this time too, with home studio “Kitty Committee Studio” (Belfast, UK) cited in the album's credits as the location where vocal tracks for mega-hits like the deeply emotional "All Too Well (Ten Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault)," and “The Last Time" featuring Northern Ireland's own Gary Lightbody, were recorded.

Taylor Swift brings Travis Kelce onstage in London for the first time at an Eras Tour show

If anyone thought singing " Karma is the guy on the Chiefs " was as public as Taylor Swift was going to go with her all-star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, think again.

On Sunday night, at the third of her London Eras Tour shows this weekend, Kelce graced the famed diamond walkway at Wembley Stadium in his first-ever onstage appearance. He performed alongside Swift during the intro for "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" in the newly added "Tortured Poets" era of the show .

Taylor Swift is joined on stage by Travis Kelce

As Swift transitions into the last song of the era, she typically acts out a short skit with two of her dancers, after she appears to "drop dead" during the penultimate song in the set, "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived."

One of the dancers carries her to a heart-shaped couch, and they then appear to revive a lifeless Swift, changing her costume from a white gown to a two-piece sequin set and applying her makeup to get her ready for the rest of the show so she can, well, do it with a broken heart.

Kelce proved to be a fearless lover Sunday, joining the trio onstage in full costume, showing off his acting chops as if he were auditioning to be a mainstay for the rest of the tour.

Videos posted to social media showed Kelce first carrying Swift to the couch, then brushing her face with a makeup brush once she was up again. He showed off some dance moves, too, all with a big, goofy smile plastered to his face.

The track, an upbeat pop banger on Swift's latest album, appears to be about the Eras Tour itself and how Swift has been able to put on one of the biggest and most successful concert runs of all time amid a breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn last year, shortly after the tour began.

Swift herself gave high praise to her beau's performance, saying in a Monday post to Instagram that she was "still cracking up/swooning over" Kelce's stage debut on the Eras Tour.

It had already been a big Eras weekend for Kelce, who was at all three London shows. Swift posted a selfie on Instagram featuring Kelce alongside Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who attended the Friday night show .

Kelce and Swift have been linked for nearly a year now, as rumors swirled last summer about a potential relationship after Kelce boldly declared on his podcast, "New Heights," that he tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at one of her Kansas City shows.

They went public with their relationship in September when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, and they have been caught supporting each other and their very public careers ever since.
