At 3 months old, the tiny celeb made her first public appearance alongside her parents on the cover of Vanity Fair . The headline declared, "Yes, Suri, She's Our Baby!" And one of her most impressive vanishing acts involved an unlikely accomplice: the grocery store chain Whole Foods. As celebrity news site Gawker reported, Cruise and her mother, Katie Holmes, used a secret, private entrance to shop at their local Whole Foods store. Supposedly, the entrance is accessible from the basement of Holmes' apartment building, and it connects to Whole Foods via a series of underground corridors. Gawker claimed that Holmes and Cruise used the passageways to sneak into the store without being detected by paparazzi. When the pair wanted to do some grocery shopping, all they had to do was wait for an employee to come down and open the door for them. 

In 2015, Gawker allegedly spoke with a municipal engineer who confirmed the existence of the secret Whole Foods entrance. "Based on my review of the plans, there is a door between the cellar-level employee area and the cellar-level corridor of the Mercantile building," the expert revealed (via Page Six ). "Ms. Holmes probably went through this door and never had to step outside."

In 2013, paparazzi spotted Cruise entering a luxury sports club with her mom, Katie Holmes. The youngster clutched a pink tennis racket in her hand as she shuffled into the fitness center. While we don't know how strong her drop shot is, we do know that she is very athletic — and interested in multiple sports. Tom Cruise is no stranger to controversy  — and since his split from Katie Holmes, there's been plenty of buzz about his relationship (or lack thereof) with his daughter, Suri Cruise. Throughout the years, the "Mission: Impossible" actor has been notably absent from Suri's life. In fact, the pair haven't been photographed together in public since 2012. In 2024, a source allegedly told the Daily Mail that Cruise is completely estranged from Suri. "He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything," the insider claimed. "She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother."

While we don't know all the details of their supposed estrangement, many sources have speculated that the Church of Scientology is to blame for Suri and Cruise's fractured relationship. For years, fans have kept their eyes peeled for signs that Suri Cruise is preparing to take on Hollywood . Speaking with Glamour in 2023, Katie Holmes revealed that if Cruise ever wanted to pursue an acting career, she would happily open that door for her. "Yes. I hope she always does something on my films," the actor said. "I always ask her." Holmes added, "That's how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling."

In 2024, Cruise starred in her high school's production of "The Addams Family: A New Musical." According to Page Six , the junior superstar played the role of Morticia Addams. The tabloid spoke to an audience member who raved about Suri's performance in the show.

Being that Katie Holmes has served as an actor, writer, director, and producer, she definitely has the connections to help Suri find her stride in Hollywood. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has made her on-screen debut.

Holmes, 43, directed and stars in the newly released movie Alone Together , and her daughter Suri Cruise, 16, joined her on the big screen.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment . “So, I asked her [Suri].

“She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it, and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, ‘This is what I think we all want – go do your thing.’”

In the movie, Suri sings a cover of Blue Moon , which plays during the opening credits of the film. Holmes told the outlet this will not be her daughter’s only on-screen singing gig, Fox News reports.

“She actually did sing in Rare Objects , which is the film we did last [autumn],” Holmes said. “Other than that, she’s a 16-year-old kid doing high school.”

Cruise and Holmes were married from 2006 to 2012. Suri is their only child together, and her uber-famous parents opted to keep her out of the public eye for the majority of her childhood.

Holmes directed, wrote and stars in Alone Together – a romantic comedy set during the Covid pandemic. Also appearing opposite her in the film is English actor Jim Sturgess.

The film follows a man and woman fleeing New York City during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.

They end up booking the same Airbnb and ultimately decide to stay at the upstate property together.

Sturgess praised Holmes’ directing style and shared that she gives actors wide latitude when they are in front of the camera.

Suri Cruise Makes Her Big-Screen Debut 25 Years After Her Mom Katie Holmes Did

Holmes is one proud mom as her 16-year-old sings "Blue Moon” in Alone Together.

Her long brown hair and gorgeous smile aren’t the only things Katie Holmes and ex Tom Cruise passed down to their lookalike daughter Suri Cruise. The 16-year-old also got a big dose of talent from her famous parents. Recently, Suri officially made her big-screen debut in an appearance in Alone Together , a romantic comedy that Holmes wrote, directed, and starred in. Suri sings “Blue Moon” in the film, which was released 25 years after Holmes made her own feature film debut in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm. It’s a cool full-circle moment and Holmes couldn’t be prouder of her daughter.

“I always want the highest level of talent," Holmes told Yahoo Entertainment on July 26 about her daughter guest starring in Alone Together. “So I asked her! She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want — go do your thing.'"

Holmes was only a few years older than Suri is now when she appeared in her breakout role as Joey Potter on Dawson’s Creek , which ran for 6 seasons from 1998-2003. She’s since transitioned to a film career, starring in Batman Begins, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and Miss Meadows among others.

Holmes reflected on her first film in 1997. "That shoot was so exciting for me — it was my first job," she told Yahoo. "When I was there, I didn't really understand what was happening, but in looking at the film many times after, Ang's ability to capture worlds is so incredible. I think that he's such a poet in the way that he shoots a scene, and the dialogue he uses and how that tells the story in a very simple way. It's all about finding the simplest way to get your story across."

Now, Holmes is telling her own stories, and she loves having her daughter work with her. Later this year, Suri’s voice will appear in another one of Holmes’ movies.

"She actually did sing in Rare Objects , which is the film we did last fall," says Holmes of her third feature, a period drama based on the 2016 bestseller by Kathleen Tessaro that will be released on December 31, 2022.

"Other than that, she's a 16-year-old kid doing high school," Holmes added.

The song is not only Suri’s film debut, but the story behind it has a special meaning. Alone Together was in part inspired the 1987 comedy Baby Boom, which starred Diane Keaton. “Diane met my daughter when she was a year old," Holmes told Yahoo Entertainment of Keaton, who sang “Blue Moon” in the 2014 Rob Reiner film And So It Goes.

Holmes’ creative nature likely influenced Suri’s spark for singing and acting. In December 2021, Holmes told Romper , “I like spending time with people way more than worrying about gifts and things,” about her holiday traditions. “The arts and crafts and the good food… that's what I love doing during the holidays and just making it very creative.”

This box office hit has been breaking records for the Mission Impossible star’s career like being a number one box office hit for Cruise for five consecutive years as well as his highest-grossing domestic movie . The action-packed star will also star in another set of sequels from the Mission: Impossible franchise- Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parts One and Two which will hit theaters in the summer of 2023 and 2024. It looks like Tom Cruise’s success can only get better from here.

The talented daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has managed to stay out of the public eye for the majority of her childhood. While Suri has no plans yet to launch a singing career, she does plan on singing yet again in her mother’s next project Rare Objects which is based on the 2016 historical fiction bestseller by Kathleen Tessaro. Other than that, Holmes said that Suri is just your average 16-year-old high school student.

While we have no idea what path will be taken for Suri Cruise, it’s great to know she has the guides of two talented parents there to help her on her journey. The 2022 movie release Alone Together has a video-on-demand release right now.

Here's Where Suri Cruise Will Be Heading to College

Suri Cruise has officially made a choice when it comes to what college she'll be attending in the fall.

The 18-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise is set to join Carnegie Mellon University this September, as made apparent via a TikTok video posted by a fellow student from New York City's LaGuardia High School.

In the clip, dozens of the teen's classmates proudly showed off their university choice by wearing a shirt or sweatshirt with the school's name on it. Suri proudly wore a red Carnegie Mellon hoodie, indicating her future alma mater. She gave the camera a little dance while pointing at her new school's name displayed on her crewneck.

Suri is reportedly considering a major in fashion, according to Daily Mail . Holmes, 45, assisted her daughter with numerous college applications but emphasized Suri's independence. A source shared with the outlet, "She is a smart girl, turning into a very intelligent, mature young woman. She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from."

Freshly 18, Suri marked her entry into adulthood with a significant personal decision. During her recent performance in the musical Head Over Heels in New York, she was listed in the Playbill not as Suri Cruise, but as Suri Noelle , adopting her mother's middle name and dropping her dad's last name.

Suri's not the only celebrity teen dropping their father's last name. Brad Pitt's children, Shiloh, Zahara, and Vivienne, have also made similar changes. Shiloh, whose parents are Pitt and Angelina Jolie, legally requested to be known as "Shiloh Jolie" on her milestone birthday, May 27, as reported by TMZ . Although Zahara and Vivienne have also removed "Pitt" from their names in various capacities, Shiloh is the first among the six Jolie-Pitt children to seek a legal name change.

Katie Holmes recently shared how proud she is of her daughter Suri Cruise , who shows off her vocal skills in the opening credits of Holmes' new movie, "Alone Together."

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment about the new film, which Holmes directed, the " Dawson's Creek " star said that her 16-year-old daughter sings "Blue Moon" during the credits and called her "very talented."

"I always want the highest level of talent," Holmes said. "So I asked her! She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want -- go do your thing.'"

"Alone Together" isn't the first film in which Suri has showcased her voice. Holmes said that her daughter also sang in the film "Rare Objects," a period drama based on the novel by author Kathleen Tessaro, which Holmes also directed.

When Suri isn't busy making music, Holmes said her daughter enjoys just being a teen.

Holmes, who was 27 years old when she welcomed her daughter in 2006 with ex-husband Tom Cruise , doesn't often post photos of her daughter in order to keep her private life private.

In 2019, she spoke about "growing up" with her daughter in an interview with Elle UK .

"It's been nice that our ages fit," she said. "Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together."

Katie Holmes was looking for the “highest level of talent” for her COVID-era Airbnb rom-com, Alone Together . That's why she reached out to her very own daughter , 16-year-old Suri Cruise .

Holmes , who wrote, directed, and starred in the film, brought in Suri to record a cover of “Blue Moon” for the opening credits. “I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes told Yahoo Entertainment . “So I asked her! She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general: It's like, ‘This is what I think we all want—go do your thing.’”

The song holds significant sentimental value for the mother-daughter pair. According to Holmes, she was inspired by Diane Keaton's own rendition of “Blue Moon” for Rob Reiner's 2014 film And So It Goes . “Diane met my daughter when she was a year old,” Holmes told Yahoo.

This isn't the first time Suri has been featured in one of her mother's films. “She actually did sing in Rare Objects , which is the film we did last fall,” the proud mom shared. “Other than that, she's a 16-year-old kid doing high school.”

Katie Holmes and her former husband Tom Cruise welcomed Suri in 2006; six years later, the Dawson's Creek star was awarded primary custody . “I like to keep her out of my interviews, but I will say that this time of quarantine has been such a lesson,” she said during an interview with The Daily Telegraph back in 2020. “Just really looking at everything you have and celebrating the simplicity of making dinner and [spending] that time together.”

As Suri gets older, it seems Holmes is becoming more comfortable gushing about her daughter to the press. “I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality,” she said in an interview with InStyle . “To make sure she is 100% herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it. She came out very strong—she's always been a strong personality.”

News of Suri’s burgeoning singing career follows another peek into the very private life of the mother/daughter duo. On July 21, Katie got candid about how she spent quarantine with Suri as they were holed up in a lake house. “I painted, we had a sewing machine so we were making quilts, we were cooking; we were on a perpetual vacation,” Katie told  Amazing  magazine for their latest issue, per  DailyMail . “We were also on a lake and there was a hammock, so I would wake up, sew, have coffee, take a nap on the hammock.”

The star also had a bit of nostalgic fun while the pair stayed safe during the early stages of the pandemic. “Oh and, by the way, I have to throw this in; we were staying by a lake, so we probably watched Dirty Dancing 10 times,” Katie divulged. “Let me tell you, I danced to it in the living room and it still holds up. It was fun.”

Suri Cruise is growing up so fast!

The daughter of Katie Holmes and ex-husband Tom Cruise made a rare social media appearance to share insight into her post-high school plans. Suri, 18, was seen in a recent TikTok video honoring “commitment day,” in which she and her classmates celebrated their chosen colleges.

The clip featured Suri, 18, sporting a Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt, seemingly confirming that she’ll be attending the prestigious school after graduation. Carnegie Mellon is located in Pittsburgh and known for its acclaimed drama and computer science programs.

Katie has spoken in the past about wanting to protect her daughter’s privacy throughout childhood, but that doesn’t mean she’s kept Suri in the dark – especially when it comes to certain pop culture classics!

Katie revealed in an interview with Variety last year that Suri has indeed watched the classic teen soap that made her mom famous.

“She has seen ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and I think it’s probably weird since she’s a teenager. I’m not like, ‘You need to watch mommy’s work,'” Katie recalled at the time, noting how the viewing was a full circle experience.

“But during the pandemic, we had a good laugh about it. It’s wild to have a daughter who’s almost the same age as I was when I began all this,” she added.

Though Suri has stayed mostly out of the spotlight she did collab with her mom on more than one important project in recent years.

Katie wrote, directed and starred in the 2022 romantic comedy “Alone Together” and had Suri lend her voice to a cover of “Blue Moon” used in the opening credits.

The proud mom told Yahoo Entertainment at the time that she only looks for “the highest level of talent,” so it makes sense that Suri was an obvious choice for her!

In fact, Suri showed off her vocal chops once again for Katie’s follow-up feature, last year’s “Rare Objects.”

Suri Cruise Hints at College Plans During Rare Appearance in 'Commitment Day' TikTok Video

Katie Holmes has a lot to be proud of as daughter Suri appears to reveal her plans for the fall.

The graduating senior, 18, may be heading to Carnegie Mellon, per a TikTok celebrating her senior class' chosen colleges.

In a video honoring "decision day" (also known as "sweatshirt day"), Suri appeared in a TikTok with classmates, all wearing sweatshirts celebrating the colleges and universities they have committed to attend in the fall.

Holmes welcomed Suri with ex-husband  Tom Cruise . After five years of marriage,  they split in 2012 .

Last year, the busy mom directed, co-produced, co-wrote and starred in Rare Objects , a film which she dedicated to her teenage daughter. The teen also sang a song featured in the film, as she previously did in Holmes' movie, Alone Together .

The end credits of the movie show a screen that reads "Dedicated to Suri."

In the April 2023 issue of  Glamour , Holmes  discussed the role her daughter plays in her films  as she reflected on  Suri singing in her films .

"I hope she always does something on my films. I  always ask her ," Holmes revealed.

"But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people," she said. "And it's this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly."

"That's how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she's my heart," she added.

Suri Cruise made the most of an 80-degree day in New York City while jogging in Central Park.

The 18-year-old was up bright and early on Tuesday morning for some exercise before meeting her mom, Katie Holmes, for a meal later in the day.

Cruise was photographed running through the park in black biker shorts and a white tank top tucked into her sports bra, putting her toned midsection on display.

The teen, who wore over-the-ear headphones, held her phone in one hand while sprinting through the winding walkways.

Later that night, Cruise swapped her athletic wear for a flowy white sundress as she headed out to dinner in Soho with her mom and grandmother Kathleen A. Stothers-Holmes.

The aspiring actress accessorized with tall brown boots and a blue tote bag while on her way to Sant Ambroeus restaurant, where she met up with the family matriarchs.

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum looked chic in a butter-yellow midi dress with black socks and wedge sandals.

Holmes, who tied a dark denim jacket around her waist, added tortoise sunglasses with a gold drop necklace to the look.

The 45-year-old wore her hair in a side-swept braid as she and Stothers-Holmes walked home from the eatery.

However, Cruise arrived and left separately from the group, which also included Holmes’ close friend Michael Fitzgerald.

The teen is expected to graduate from high school sometime this month, though her post-graduation plans have not been made public.

Cruise, whose milestone birthday was in April , has remained out of the spotlight for most of her life, with Holmes telling Glamour last year that she wanted to “protect” the teen because “she was so visible at a young age.”

While the mother-daughter duo are extremely close , the teen has no relationship with her famous father, Tom Cruise.

An insider told Page Six in March 2023 that the “Mission Impossible” star hadn’t seen his daughter in a very long time and played no role in her life —  due to his role in the Church of Scientology.

Nearly a year later, an industry source told us the actor had not seen Suri since 2012 when he split from Holmes after six years of marriage.

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

During a 2013 deposition, the “Top Gun” star admitted his ex-wife filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.

Similarly, former Scientologist Leah Remini told The Post in 2020 that  Scientology considers Holmes a “suppressive person,”  which has kept him away from his daughter.

“Therefore Tom believes, like all Scientologists, that he can’t be connected to Suri,” she said. “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Before news broke in the past week that two of Brad Pitt’s daughters have stopped using his surname, a report said that Tom Cruise’s daughter, Suri, didn’t want to use her mega-star dad’s last name when performing recently in a stage musical.

After Suri celebrated her milestone 18th birthday in April, she is about to graduate from La Guardia High School in New York City, and hinted in a classmates TikTok video that she’s headed to Carnegie Mellon University in the fall. She also made the subtle yet noticeable choice to only be identified as Suri Noelle for a performance of the stage musical “Head Over Heels,” according to a report from Hello magazine.

It’s not clear if the show was presented at Suri’s public high school, which specializes in teaching performing and visual arts, or at a theater in New York City. Suri lives in Manhattan with her mother, Katie Holmes, Cruise’s ex-wife. Hello magazine said Suri starred as Philoclea in the juke-box musical, which features music from the Go-Go’s.

For the show’s program, Suri used Holmes’ middle name, Noelle, as her last name in the show’s credits, Hello reported.

It’s long been reported that Suri has been estranged from her mega-star father, since around the time her mother surprised Cruise in 2012 by reportedly “blindsiding” him and asking for a divorce. Following Cruise and Holmes’ high-profile breakup, there were reports that the “Dawson’s Creek” star left the marriage so that she could protect her daughter from being raised in the cult-like Church of Scientology, of which the “Top Gun” star is a prominent member.

Since then, Suri has grown up under the care of her mother in New York, with the two sharing a close mother-daughter bond, Newsweek reported . There have been questions about whether Suri’s reported estrangement from the Jerry Maguire actor is due to Scientology.

According to its website , church recommends that members stay away from people labeled “suppressive persons,” or SPs, because they are considered “anti-social” personalities who seek to upset and undermines a members’ adherence to Scientology.

It’s been reported that Holmes secured sole custody of Suri in the divorce, while Cruise retained “meaningful” visitation rights. Yet, public sightings of Cruise with his daughter dwindled soon after the divorce, with Page Six saying they were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

As Suri has come of age, she has shown an interest in the performing arts, attending La Guardia High School, which is officially known as the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Her actor-director mother also told Glamour last year that she had asked her daughter to sing the opening credits of her 2022 film, “Alone Together.” Suri’s next destination is Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is known for having one of the top-ranked undergraduate drama programs in the county.

The Hello report didn’t say whether Suri was using the name “Suri Noelle” just for the musical, or if it signals a more permanent shift in how she identifies herself and in how she may want to relate to her father.

Of course, Cruise wouldn’t be the only top male star right now who’s had a once beloved child reject her association with him, if that’s what Suri intends to do.  The same thing happened to Cruise’s one-time co-star Pitt, who may be estranged from all six of his children with Angelina Jolie.

Pitt, who co-starred with Cruise in the 1994 gothic thriller, “Interview with the Vampire,” has been reminded of this “loss” in recent weeks, a source told People, after he and the rest of the world learned that his 18-year-old daughter Shiloh had dropped “Pitt” from her last name.

There have been news reports over the past several years that indicated that Pitt had probably become estranged from his older adopted children — Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19 — amid his contentious and protracted divorce from Jolie. But it’s become apparent in the past week that Pitt may no longer have relationships with his three biological children, Shiloh and 15-year-old twins, Vivienne and Knox.

Last week, Shiloh celebrated her 18th birthday by hiring a lawyer to help her petition the court to legally drop “Pitt” from her surname and to henceforth be known as “Shiloh Jolie,” not “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt,” People and other news outlets reported. People also reported last week that Vivienne had dropped “Pitt” in her Playbill credit for the new musical “The Outsiders,” which her mother produced.

The news about Shiloh hiring an attorney to officially distance herself from Pitt has proved to be especially painful for the “Fight Club” star, according to the People source.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” the source said.

“The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad,” a source told People Monday. “He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

People magazine reported that Shiloh’s decision to drop Pitt’s last name was in part motivated by Jolie’s allegations related to her father’s “abuse history.”

The storied Hollywood super couple union between Pitt and Jolie came crashing down in September 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce and reports began circulating that the split was prompted by an altercation involving the couple on a private plane ride from the South of France to Los Angeles.

Several of the actors’ children also reportedly were involved in the incident, according to a subsequent FBI report. Since then, Jolie has accused the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor of being physically abusive on the plane ride and during their two-year marriage and 12-year relationship. Pitt has long denied the abuse allegations and his representatives have pointed out that he was never charged with a crime. Sources close to Pitt also have accused Jolie of working to turn their children against them.

Meanwhile, before Shiloh and Vivienne dropped “Pitt” from their full names, legally or otherwise, their older sister Zahara made a similar move. Zahara was seen in a video shared by Essence magazine, calling herself Zahara Marley Jolie at a 2023 event at Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College.
