Free Travel and Parking
If you are aged 16-18 and joining Newcastle College you may be eligible for a FREE travel pass. We also offer complimentary parking for all of our students and staff (subject to availability).

You may be eligible for a travel pass or travel payments. Find out if you're eligible.
Application Guidance
We will review your application and, if you are eligible, will provide you with an appropriate travel pass or cash entitlement. We will base this decision on your route to college, and decide which is the most suitable option.
We do not cover the costs of car journeys.
Your application may take up to four weeks to be processed, as we require verification of attendance from college registers. You will be responsible for any travel costs until your support is in place.
Please be aware your total travel cost may not be covered.
If you are a Northumberland resident you may be eligible to receive travel support through Northumberland County Council. You will need to contact Northumberland County Council to enquire eligibility prior to applying for Learner Support Funds.

We offer free parking to all of our staff and students, on a first-come, first-served basis. Our parking locations are:
Main Entrance, Scotswood Road
Side Entrance, Maple Terrace
To park on campus you will need a Newcastle College parking permit. You can apply for this when you start college.
GET ROUND FOR £1
If you’re 21 or under you can now go by bus for just £1 or less! Or, you can buy a £3 unlimited day ticket to get round County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear – you can go by Metro or ferry too.

NEXUS METRO STUDENT CARD
If you qualify for the 16-18 Metro Student Card you will receive a 50% discount off an adult season ticket. The 16-18 Metro Student Card lets you travel across all zones on the whole of the Metro system.

STAGECOACH UNIRIDER
If you regularly use Stagecoach buses then the Stagecoach Unirider might be the travel option for you. Unirider is available to full-time students aged over 16, who hold a valid NUS card. Unirider offers students discounted travel on all Stagecoach North East buses throughout Tyne & Wear and Tees Valley.

ARRIVA STUDENT TICKETS
If you regularly use Arriva buses to get around then an Arriva Student Bus Ticket may save you a considerable amount of money. Available to students studying full time, you can purchase day, weekly and specific term and academic year tickets.

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNCIL STUDENT PASS
If you live in Northumberland, are aged 16 and over and are studying a full-time course you may be entitled to receive a free student travel pass. To qualify you must be attending a full-time course for at least 12 hours per week.

NETWORK ONE STUDENT TICKET
If you are a full-time student the Network One Student Ticket is a travel pass that will let you travel in Tyne and Wear on virtually every bus, the Metro, the Sunderland to Blaydon Rail Line, and the Shields Ferry.

This is the Pop card that Metro Season Tickets (including Student or 18 and Under) or Network One Tickets (including for Students and Young People) are loaded onto. Please note that when you renew these online, you load them onto your Pop card at a Metro station.
Pop Pay As You Go is the smart way to pay for public transport in North East England. Simply top up your Pop PAYG card and use it to pay for your journeys on Tyne and Wear Metro, buses and the Shields Ferry as you make them.
Children can travel at concessionary child fares all day, every day on all public transport in Tyne and Wear if they have an Under 16 Pop card. Under 16 Pop cards are available to all children who live in Tyne and Wear who are in year 11 and below at school, which means they’re aged 5 to 15 on the 31 August before the start of the current academic year.
Pop blue is the smart way to pay for your travel if you're aged 21 or under. Just load a balance on to your Pop blue card and use it to pay for your journeys on Tyne and Wear Metro, buses and the Shields Ferry as you make them.
Junior blue is the brand new way to pay for travel for children aged 15 or under. Just use the balance on a Junior blue card to pay for journeys on Tyne and Wear Metro, buses and the Shields Ferry.
