Try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1 - Check for Satellite connection. Try to tune to channel 8 to confirm you are receiving a satellite signal and the radio is active.

- if receiving channel 8- then you have an active satellite connection. Go to Step 2 .

- If NOT receiving channel 8- your radio may simply need a refresh signal. Have the Radio ID or VIN handy, then send a  refresh signal . Once received, go to Step 2 .

- If the refresh is unsuccessful, check to be sure you have an active demo or paid plan.

Step 2 -  Check for 360L Streaming connection. Try to tune to channel 703 to confirm you are receiving a streaming signal and the radio is active.

-If receiving channel 703- then you have an active 360L connection and are ready to go.

-If NOT receiving channel 703- To unlock all the content and features that are included in SiriusXM with 360L, proceed with the troubleshooting steps below:

A. Basic OnStar terms acceptance is necessary for 360L to fully function . Look for a 4G/LTE icon on the bottom right portion of the screen to verify the modem is connected. If no icon appears and/or if you’re not sure whether you agreed to OnStar connectivity, please contact OnStar to confirm your modem connection status by pushing the blue OnStar button in your vehicle.

Note: Pre-owned GM vehicles on a GM dealer lot for sale will not have 360L functionality until after it is sold and OnStar terms have been accepted by the customer.

If this does not restore streaming connectivity, proceed to the next step.

B. Confirm whether the vehicle has a good cellular connection . Move the vehicle to a new location and check for channel 703 again. If this does not restore streaming connectivity, proceed to the next step.

C. Power cycle your radio . Turn the ignition off, open and close the driver's door, and wait a full 5 minutes for the vehicle to shut completely off. Every vehicle is different, so it may take some vehicles longer than others to completely power down. After 5 minutes, turn the vehicle back on. If the power cycle is unsuccessful, proceed to the next step.

D. Put the radio in Deep Sleep . Repeat step B , but allow your vehicle to completely power down without interaction for at least an hour . If the above steps were unsuccessful, please call us at 866-635-0179

How to Use Chevrolet MyLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

The 7″ or 8″ Chevy MyLink color touchscreen display allows you to access navigation, apps, entertainment and contacts though voice commands or by touching the screen. The screen layout — which holds a maximum or eight icons per page — is customizable for easy use.

To begin, connect your compatible smartphone into the Chevrolet MyLink system with the USB port or through Bluetooth (wireless connectivity). Connect an iPhone to a vehicle’s MyLink system with Apple CarPlay, and connect an Android to a vehicle’s MyLink with Android Auto to access your smartphone’s contacts, playlists and apps. The Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps must be downloaded onto the phone before connecting it to a vehicle.

Android Auto allows you to access Google Maps, use voice commands, send/read/respond to texts, make/return calls, listen to voicemail, stream over 30 million songs and support apps ( list of supported apps ). Apple CarPlay allows you to use maps, predict where you want to go by looking at texts/emails/contacts/calendars, make/return phone calls, listen to voicemail, access your music/iTunes Radio and support apps ( list of supported apps ).

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay may be exited by pressing the HOME button, which would take you to the MyLink infotainment settings and menus. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay allows you to stream music or access audible navigation directions while displaying them on the MyLink infotainment system.

While the smartphone is connected to the MyLink through a USB port while running Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, your phone is locked. This allows you to concentrate on driving rather than taking your eyes off the road to look at your mobile device.

Rather than continuously using the touchscreen, the infotainment menu may controlled by pressing the voice command/phone button on either the steering wheel or the display screen. Press the microphone button on the upper right screen while in Android Auto, or press and hold the HOME button on the lower left of the screen to make a voice command.

SiriusXM Satellite Radio offers 140 channels of commercial-free music, sports, talk and entertainment, and SiriusXM Travel Link provides up-to-date traffic, gas prices, weather reports and turn-by-turn directions. Since SiriusXM channels are satellite based, you do not need it to be connected to your phone.

Also, Chevrolet is the first vehicle manufacturer to offer Siri Eyes Free , which is compatible with an iPhone that runs iOS 6 or later. The system allows you to compose messages on the go with limited hands-free interaction so driving can be your priority.

My Link Radio and SiriusXM Travel Link

Hello, The My Link radio with Nav in my Cruze does not display the Fuel, Weather, and Movies options. The vehicle I test drove which was built in May included these features and a vehicle built after mine built in Oct. also includes these features. The dealer can not figure out how to add these features to my radio as there is not a TSB on this issue. Anyone having similar issues or know how I can get an upgrade for my radio to include these features? There is an option for radio upgrade but I would need the modules to upgrade. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ian  

I believe there's an option in the menus to choose which ones to show on the home menu. Can you change it there?  

No, it is not an option on the menu list. It is missing. I worked with SiriusXM for two hours because the Chevy chat said it was an over the air update. The programing is, but if the radio is not showing you can use the functions. I'm going to be headed back to the dealer so the service department can try and figure it out. My salesman is actually helping me with service tickes from tech support. Hopefully they will figure it out.  

I have the same problem. New car, no Pandora, Fuel, Weather, Movie icons on my MyLink UHQ radio with Navigation AND a SiriusXM Travel Link Subscription. The good news is that my dealer Service Manager got a plausible explanation of the problem from Chevrolet: My USA car has CANADA MyLink Software. Pandora and Travel Link are not available in Canada and the cars to do come with those icons. I looked up the GM Canada site and sure enough, the Camaro (Same UHQ radio) page describes the exact available features as my radio. No mention of Pandora, or the Travel Link. Right now they do not have a solution, but at some point I expect to get either a software update or a new radio at the dealer. I'll post more as things develop. Thanks for the info. After my car was in the shop fro over a week and the dealer working with GM, they came to the exact same conclusion. The car was built with Canada software. My dealer told me that it wasn't the actual radio software but some VIN specific software in the vehicle. They had swapped my radio out with one of a vehicle that had the USA software and icons working, it still didn't work in my vehicle. They put my radio into that vehicle and the icons were there. I also haven't received a definitive timeline of when GM may create a new load for my vehicle. I'll be calling every week until its completed. Did you have any discussion regarding compensation for having to deal with this screw up with your dealer?  

My radio is now fixed. I have the Pandora, Movies, Fuel Prices and Weather icons. It also appears that the dealer extended my free XM trial subscriptions too. I just got the car back from the dealer yesterday. It took Chevrolet two weeks to create a software update for my particular vehicle to add the missing icons: Pandora, Fuel Prices, Movies and Weather. Now everything works. The ticket references the Infotainment Tech Line (problem) number and a TECH CASE number from Chevrolet. I didn't post the number because the service advisor said they were specific to my VIN. Again, the problem was that my radio had software intended for a Canadian car, and the missing features are not offered in Canada. If you are missing the Pandora, Movies, Fuel Prices, and Weather Icons, and your radio show an active XM Travel Link subscription, call or chat with the Chevy Infotainment help line and tell them you think your radio has Canadian Software, and you need Chevrolet to create a software update for your vehicle. When it is ready, your dealer should call you to come in and get the update installed.  

Additional info regarding travel link missing icons. I also was missing Pandora, weather, fuel pricing and movie icons. GM as of 2-24-14 put out a TSB on this problem. If you contact your dealer, he will contact GM for the download for you radio. Takes the dealer approx.45 minutes to install. It worked for me here in Lanc., Pa  

The manual seems to indicate that the firmware can be updated via the usb port without the dealer getting involved. I may be interpreting it incorrectly though.

A traveler's guide to Novosibirsk, the unofficial capital of Siberia

Trans-Siberian heritage

Residents of Novosibirsk love trains and are proud of the fact that their city played a significant role in the history of the grand Trans-Siberian railway, which spans the breadth of Russia. The railway is such a part of Novosibirsk identity that it is even depicted on the city’s emblem, along with the bridge that crosses the Ob river and two Siberian sables standing on their hind legs.  

In the city, there are as many as five monuments to trains, and an open-air locomotive museum is located in the vicinity of the train station Seyatel’. The museum has more than 100 steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and carriages, reflecting the history of rail transportation in Russia from pre-revolutionary times to the present day. Wondering around the stationary trains and comparing your height with the diameter of the gigantic iron wheels of the first steam locomotives is all very well, but why not climb inside the carriages and see how the nobility once traveled across Russia in pre-revolutionary times? These tours will however need to be booked in advance. The museum opens from 11:00 until 17:00 every day except Mondays. 

Novosibirsk spans both sides of the river Ob. In the early twentieth century, the border of two different timezones passed right through the city which led to a strange situation- morning on the east bank started one hour earlier than on the west bank! The two-kilometer covered metro bridge that crosses the river is considered the longest in the world. Due to the fluctuations in temperature across the year (on average +30 °C to -30 °C), during the summer the metro bridge expands, and in the winter it contracts by half a meter. To counter these effects, the bridge’s supports are equipped with special rollers that allow it to move.   

The cultural center of Siberia

The repertoire of the theatre can be viewed on its official website . The theatre season runs from September to July, and comprises mainly classical performances, like the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky, Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor” and Verdi’s “La Traviata”.  

The large Siberian sea and ligers

Weekends are best spent at the Novosibirsk zoo . The zoo is known for breeding big cats, although surrounded by controversy, hosts a successful crossing of a tiger and lion, which of course would not otherwise breed in wildlife. Ligers, or exotic cubs of an African lion and Bengal tigress, feel quite comfortable in the Siberian climate and even produce offspring. The zoo is open to visitors year-round, seven days a week, and even has its own free mobile app, Zoo Nsk .

Every year at the beginning of January, the festival of snow culture takes place bringing together artists from across Russia and around the world to participate in a snow sculpting competition. The tradition started in 2000 inspired by the snow festival in Sapporo, Novosibirsk’s twin-city.

Siberian Silicon Valley

Despite the fact that Akademgorodok was built half a century ago in the middle of the uninhabited Siberian taiga, architecturally it was ahead of its time. No trees were destroyed for its construction, and houses were built right in the middle of the forest. A man walking through the woods would seemingly stumble upon these structures. At that time, no one had built anything similar in the world and ecovillages only became fashionable much later.

For residents of the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok is a different world. When you step out the bus or car, you are immediately on one of the hiking paths through the forest, between the scientific buildings and clubs. On a walk through Akademgorodok, it is possible to unexpectedly encounter art-like objects handmade by residents of the city which have been erected as monuments and some monuments fixed up by city authorities. For example, the monument to the laboratory mice, which knits a strand of DNA on to some needles, can be found in the square alongside the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. In Akademgorodok there are many cafes and restaurants, in which it is possible to rest after a long walk. Grab a coffee and go to eat at Traveler’s Coffee , or eat lunch at the grille and bar People’s or Clover .

Winters in the Akademgorodok are slightly colder than in the city, so wrap up. Spring and summer are usually wetter, so waterproof boots are recommended. In the summer the Ob sea provides respite from the heat, so do not forget your swimsuit to go for a dip.

Memento Mori

Among the exhibits of the museum is one dedicated to world funeral culture — hearses, memorial jewellery from the hair of the deceased, samples from a specific photo-genre of  "post mortem", a collection of funeral wear from the Victorian era, deathmasks, statues and monuments. There’s also an impressive collection of coffins. One of them, resembling a fish, was manufactured on a special visit to Novosibirsk by a designer coffin-maker from Africa, Eric Adjetey Anang, who specializes in the production of unusual coffins.

Surprisingly, the crematorium itself does not look at all gloomy in appearance and definitely does not look like infernal scenes from movies, or like crematoriums of other cities that gravitate towards gloomy temple aesthetics. The Novosibirsk crematorium is decorated in “cheerful” orange tones and is surrounded by a park with a children’s playground nearby. A visit to the museum then leaves you with mixed feelings. 

Novosibirsk underground

Tourists from all over the world go down into the Moscow metro to take a ride and a few selfies in the most famous underground museum. The Novosibirsk metro is also quite a museum in itself — it has 13 stations, the most beautiful of which is Gagarinskaya, Sibirskaya and Rechnoy Vokzal.

The ultramodern Gagarinskaya station is like a real cosmos underground. Its technologically themed design includes marble walls with metallic elements, dark blue backlighting and portraits of Yuri Gagarin. The Sibirskaya station looks like an underground treasure trove, decorated by Altai masters craftsmen with mosaics of precious Siberian stones. The Rechnoy Vokzal station is framed with ten glowing stained glass windows depicting the largest cities of Siberia, including Novosibirsk itself, Omsk, Barnaul and others. The platform resembles a big ship sailing on the Ob, from which ancient Siberian cities are visible through its windows.  

How to get there

The easiest way to get to Novosibirsk is by plane with Aeroflot or Novosibirsk airline S7 with one-way tickets from Moscow costing from 200-250 USD. If you decide to take from the train from Moscow, you’ll have to travel approximately a third of the Trans-Siberian Railway. That’s 3,300 kilometers over almost a three-day journey. 

Where to stay

There are many great hotels in Novosibirsk. Amongst the best include a four-star Doubletree hotel by Hilton , which is located near Lenin Square (per room from $200). After renovations and repairs, the congress-hotel Novosibirsk has improved (per room from $100) and is located across from the train station. Less expensive but of a similar standard is the four-star River Park hotel near Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, which costs $80 per night.
