Morgan car factory tour

Excellent behind the scenes look at how morgan cars are made, a great day overall.

Superb. Extremely interesting and informative tour of the factory

An excellent day

Having always had an interest in cars, the tour of the Morgan factory was a great experience. Morgan have continued to produce traditional hand made sports cars incorporating the latest technology. The tour was very relaxed and our guide was excellent.

Morgan Experience

We had an excellent guide who was very knowledgable and friendly. The factory tour was comprehensive and the car production and skills displayed were impressive. My wife and I really enjoyed the visit.

Best tour ever

From start to finish an absolutely brilliant day. Good facilities and an extremely knowledgeable and interesting tour guide. Time given to fully digest all area's we visited in the factory. Cafe and museum finished off a great day. Thanks to everyone at the factory.

Gary Shepherd

Living history

Fantastic tour full of detail at every stage of the manufacturing process. A real insight into the history of the company as well as its today product range. Once you see how they are made you realise the craftsmanship involved also their ‘value’ no just financially but as a living piece of history…which could of course be yours

Fantastic day

I'm a bit of a petrol head so the opportunity to see these iconic British cars being made was a real treat. I'd recommend it to any car nut who appreciates British car heritage

Morgan factory tour

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was great to see the cars being built. Kevin our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the factory and product. We would recommend the tour.

Surprisingly good

A brilliant tour which was surprisingly good. My son and I love cars but knew little about Morgan save for some basic facts. We came away full with facts and info. Our guide was excellent and really brought the factory - and the people and cars in it - to life. Highly recommended.

Morgan Motors

Just returned from my factory tour at the Morgan Motor factory. This is my second visit and was excellent there refurbish cafe and shop area is fantastic.Staff were excellent and the tour guide explained everything in detail Certainly will visit again

Birthday gift

Would recommend, excellent tour.

Great tour around Morgan Factory

We had a really interesting and enjoyable tour around the Morgan car factory in Great Malvern. Our guide, Ian Murray was excellent. My wife enjoyed it very much too and she is no car enthusiast. I would strongly recommend this experience.

Morgan Factory

Absolutely brilliant tour seeing cars built using skills from bygone times.

I want a Morgan

Excellent! John, taking us round, was very knowledgeable and amusing. Great to see how Great British cars are made.

Great Day Out

Beautiful cars, informative guide, wonderful British craftsmanship. Whats not to love.

One for all car nuts and their other halves!

I bought the experience for my husband who’s hobby is cars and all things motorsport but I also really enjoyed the tour. It was really interesting and the tour guide was so knowledgable about the history, little quirky facts and just a general nice guy. The cafe is great and all staff were approachable and friendly. Would recommend this to anyone interested - get it booked!

Super value, interesting, historic, entertaining.

The clue is in the title!

2 Hours of nostalgia

Excellent tour, the guide must have done this hundreds of times, but still managed to make it both hugely interesting and entertaining, throwing in a bit of humorous sarcasm, just for good measure. Being allowed to take random photographs was a very welcome bonus, and the afternoon tea wasn't bad, either. All in all, a very good experience, which my wife and I enjoyed immensely, and which we would highly recommend.

A very special factory tour

A well recommended couple of hours to visit and get an insight into the hand built Morgan sports cars. The addition of the new experience centre , coupled with a personal guided tour makes for a great visit. Being able to see close up, the various stages of production leaves you in awe of traditional British craftsmanship. I dare anyone to finish the tour without the desire to buy one their cars!

Really interesting and enjoyable experience. Very relaxed and lots to see.

Morgan Factory Tour.

Excellent tour of the Morgan car factory in Malvern. These hand made cars truly show the best of British craftsmanship. The tour guide was excellent.

Great visit

Good tour , really interesting, only down side I had to remove my hearing aids to put headphones in for commentary. So if you wear hearing aids take your own headphones

Morgan Factory Tour

Excellent day ! Very informative

Absolutely first class

My Christmas present from 2 years ago from my wife

I thoroughly enjoyed my Virgin Experience at the Morgan Factory. The guide was very informative and provided an excellent tour

THE REALISATION OF A LONG HELD WISH.

It was an amazing esxperience. The guide was excellent and despite the mask and the noise in some of the workshops his diction was perfect making everything understandable. He said there was a very low turnove in staff which is quite understandable, who would wish to change their employment when what their were doing would give so much job satisfation. It was good to see a female working on the tools also. The canteen facility was also very welcome after having had a two hour drive.

Best for experience

Fantastic day.

We were welcomed by very courteous and efficient staff and had time for a lovely coffee and freshly made panini for early lunch. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and his attention to detail was amazing. We had lots of time to answer questions and were not rushed at all. We saw every part of the cars being made, even the staff making parts were smiley and welcoming though they had to concentrate very hard! Wonderful day out and would recommend to anyone who is interested in cars.

Husbands birthday present

My husband thoroughly enjoyed his day at the Morgan motor company. The video, the tour and being able to walk around and view the cars close up.

Craft-personship in action

Colin our knowledgeable and experienced guide introduced our small group of six to the manufacturer of a historic car. We learnt that whilst put together in Malvern by craftsmen and women this Italian owned company uses German engines / italian leather / Canadian steel built on wheels from India - so whilst not much of the Morgan is actually British it's good to see the skills deployed to build the kit car that will stand the test of time. A real insight to a great Italian company based here in

Excellent experience!

Absolutely superb experience. Morgan have recently refurbished their main reception, showroom, canteen (which visitors can use), museum and shop. Stunning facility. The tour started with some insight into some of the older Morgan models and the company's history before entering the various factory facilities to walk through the complete build process (literally feet away from the technicians). To see that level of workmanship upclose was remarkable! Highly recommended

Gordon Diffey

Brilliant day

This was a fantastic experience, very friendly and knowledgeable guide showed us around the whole factory.

An interesting day out

I went with my son who loves cars. He had always wanted to go and see the process of how Morgan cars were made. Our tour guide was brilliant! He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer everyone’s questions. It was a very interesting tour, my son loved it.

Really enjoyed the morgan factory tour. Very informative guide and wonderful cars!

Great tour for motorheads

Interesting tour of the Morgan factory to see just how professionally hand made Morgan cars actually are. We lost count of the number of hammers being used to hand manufacture the body work into shape. I was amazed at just how much Ash wood is used in the car and the craftsmanship that goes into each amd every car. Little wonder these cars cost so much, not a computer or welding jig in sight. If you're not a car nerd, or want to buy a Morgan, this might not be the tour for you.

MORGAN FACTORY VISIT

VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. WELL ORGANISED AND WAS FASCINATING TO SEE OLD SKILLS BEING USED TO PRODUCE THESE FANTASTIC CARS

Morgan Factory tour

This was a fabulous experience. It was very interesting to see the premises, the cars and what goes into the building of them. The tour took 2 hrs and time was given for questions and photographs as requested. It was unfortunate that the museum was closed, but during the COVID restrictions, that was understandable.

Morgan visit

Very interesting. Well organized and safe in these difficult days.

Really enjoyable and informative. Loved the new building. Will be even better when the museum opens.

Interesting visit

Well organised and informative factory tour, following the hand assembly process of these impressive Sports cars. Excellent facilities - ‘Close-up’ tour, cafe, visitor centre and shop.

Never got there

Left Bristol 09 30 up to m5, accident, 3hrs in queue, motorway closed, junction 7 and, 6.A Road to Morgan company choc a bloke, so we turned a round and came home. After driving for 6 hours, we got back. Rang Morgan and they offered the voucher active for next year.

Very good experience most enjoyable refurbishment nearly finished did not effect the visit . Nice cafe too

Highlight of the year

It was the highlight of the week had a guide who was a Morgan owner and very passionate about Morgan cars although he was not employed by Morgan.

Morgan Tour

An excellent tour by a knowledgeable guide which was interesting for both myself and my wife.

Morgan update

A fantastic second tour (for me) around the Morgan factory to catch a glimpse of the very latest of their offerings. The tour guide shared his amazing knowledge and passion of all things Morgan as we progressed from one department to another. Craftsmen answered courteously to any casual enquiry tossed their way and the whole factory throughout appeared very busy indeed. A truly entertaining and engaging experience recommended for all.

morgan cars factory tour

Morgan Factory Tour

  • November 1, 2007

I was never a big H.G. Wells fan, my science fiction tastes ran towards the Heinlein paperbacks my father read rabidly and left scattered about the house. To give old Herbert George his due, he did introduce the wonderful concept of the time machine to an unsuspecting world. If you want to time travel it’s really pretty easy, all you need to do is walk through the gate of the Morgan Motor Company in Malvern Link, England and you will be instantaneously transported to a place in time where men and women build sports cars with their bare hands and simple tools.

Walking through the door of the Morgan factory is really like time travel. In the modern world virtually everything can be delivered to your doorstep or desktop instantly. Here in Malvern Link they will make you wait a year while they build your car—such audacity! However, I noticed that the facility has significant Factory Security Services which is impressive for an old factory.

To understand the circuitous path that a Morgan car travels, from Malvern Link to your driveway, we were lucky enough to have a docent to shepherd us through the process. Dixon is the embodiment of an English gentleman. He has been part of Morgan for many years and he led our group through the Morgan manufacturing process.

While you might think of the Morgan as quaint or even antique it’s clear that the employees are truly craftsmen of the highest order. Every piece of the car is fitted by human hands and surprisingly the Morgan crew was much younger than I expected.

Moving from building to building you really get a sense of the Morgan magic that permeates Malvern Link. One of the touchstones of Morgan lore is their wooden frame and it’s true that much of the rear sub-frame of the Morgan Roadsters is constructed of ash. As a young car nut I thought the whole frame was made of wood, like a Conestoga wagon. There is much more steel and aluminum than ash, but it’s still cool to see how the wood becomes an integral member of the chassis.

The sweeping rear fender arches are crafted from multiple pieces of ash that are kiln-dried, bonded together and heated in a jig just like the gluelam beams you see in a warehouse rafter. As we moved through the factory every step of the assembly process is out in the open, and the skill and care of the builders are apparent as hand built components pieces are finessed into place.

The time trip is complete when you see the state of the art engines and drivetrains take their place in the bellies of these handcrafted beasts. Morgan is proud of their “green factor.” Since their cars are light and strong, they require less power to best luxurious contemporaries like the Bentley Continental. Of course they have all the accoutrements, the passive and active safety systems you expect from a “modern” car. Plus, accor-ing to Morgan an Aero 8 delivers nearly twice the MPG and half as much C02 and NoX. Not bad for a company celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2009. To schedule your time travel visit www.morgan-motor.co.uk.

TEN THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT MORGAN CARS :

1.  The Malvern Link factory has been building cars since 1919.

2.  A Morgan Four/Four driven by Prudence Fawcett won its class at the 1937 Le Mans 24 Hour race.

3.  It takes 4 weeks to build each car.

4.  A production Morgan beat factory racers from Porsches and Lotus, winning the 2 liter class at the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hour race.

6.  There are 95 pieces of ash in a classic Morgan.

7.  75% of all Morgans are exported out of the UK.

8.  160 people work at the Morgan car facility.

9.  Morgans have used a wide variety of motorcycle and car engines from Ford, BMW, and Triumph among others.

10 . The Morgan factory has a bouquet like fine wine with hints of ash, leather and high school metal shop.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

morgan cars factory tour

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

morgan cars factory tour

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

morgan cars factory tour

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

morgan cars factory tour

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

morgan cars factory tour

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

morgan cars factory tour

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

morgan cars factory tour

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
