Excellent! I didn’t expect the black opaque tent along the bottom of the screen. I thought it was going to be all clear like I [thought] I ordered. Ordered May 14th and a well packed windshield arrived June 20th. Was notified via email the production team was running behind. The included instructions are very detailed and the return/warranty policy seem good. I was on the fence between returning the Medium (17 1/2″ vertical) shield and ordering the Large (18 1/2″ vertical) shield. I wanted to essentially eliminate all turbulence. It’s a motorcycle though so I don’t think this is possible lol. The airstream seams to pass just above my head just touching my helmet. The view over the shield is very good. I think the Large would allow me to look over the shield to the horizon but just barely. I value the view more than reducing the noise by a negligible amount. Road about 600 miles through rain in the past couple days. I would not want to have to look through a wet visor and windshield at the same time. Also, sitting upright and leaning forward allows the air stream to blow the rain off my helmet visor. The 5 position vent does seem to help keep turbulence lower depending on the setting. There is a low pressure zone as I saw water droplets swirling around in the pocket of space between my chest and handlebars. Fit and finish is good aside from some hairline air bubbles on the black backing around the mounting holes. I don’t care too much about that. I don’t have the chrome strip since I am not the original owner. I used stainless washers to distribute the pressure from the mounting bolts. I like the look of it better too black into black. If you’re similar to me 6′ 32″ Inseam don’t get smaller than Medium for wind reduction. Taller than 6′? Large would probably work for you to look over comfortably. Take into account I ordered a recurve option (provides 1.5 – 2″ of lift to the airstream). My photo of the instrument cluster simulates about how far over the top of the shield I can see.

So far I have absolutely loved my shield. The Clearview team has been fantastic with their customer service! When I initially ordered my windshield, I was concerned about the sizing, and they were helpful in choosing. They also helped me order during a sale price, and extended my trial period since the weather in my location was still not conducive to riding at the time.

I ended up having to exchange my first shield for a different size and the process was very quick and simple. So far, I absolutely love my new shield. It is a great height, and throws the wind just over my head while allowing me to easily see the roadway. Couldn’t be happier with the product, and due to the fantastic service, will definitely use Clearview for future bikes!

This is the windshield I’ve always wanted. Attention to detail from Clearview is apparent throughout the product. The measurements that truly inform the buyer about what size to buy helped tremendously. I’m 6′ 5″ and got the correct size on the first try because they helped explain exactly what I should be ordering. The install was 5 minutes and the vents in the center of the windshield worked exactly as described. The vent creates a small vortex below the inside of the shield that stops A LOT of the buffering that should exist at the top of the shield. The wind now come just over the top of my helmet and my experience riding is now night and day over what I had previously for a truly tall person on a motorcycle. Will recommend to anyone! I have a 2022 Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero and this is the windshield for you.

This windshield is a keeper, no regrets. First, on installation all of the holes aligned perfectly and no tweaks were needed to make it fit. Next, most importantly, I can hear my radio now! Before installing this the wind noise was obnoxious. BTW, if you’re think of a Clearview, get the vent option. I provides a good flow of air directed at the rider. That’s going to make a noticeable difference when the weather warms up more.

Sorry that you had a less than pleasant experience with us. Not sure where you found the 10 to 12 day time line on the website but yes like many businesses in this industry we are at the busiest time of year, there will be some build lead times if the item is not in stock. We have one of the shortest production times out of all of our competitors though. As far as quality we take that very seriously hence the call after our inspection to you prior to shipping the screen. We will not try to sneak anything through and hope you would not find it. Re-fabrication of any screen that does not pass final inspections and is not accepted by our customer is only 2 days max. If you feel a greater discount is in order then let us know, we want you to feel that we are fair in our assessment of any imperfection we run across.

Love the windshield. I installed the Small size clearview shield…light grey tinted o a 2017 Kawasaki Voyager. Installation would have taken only about 10 minutes, but I ran into a problem with the Wellnuts used by Kawasaki. 2 fell off, so had to have different wellnuts sent from Clearview. Had to drill the fairing hole out for them to fit, but now good as new. Took it for a long ride and love how it sends all wind over the top of my helmet…. while still being able to see over the shield rather than looking through it.

Best investment I ever made for my bike! These oppressively hot days in the south are made more tolerant by the vent in the windshield. I get some air to my chest and face that I wasn’t able to get with the OEM windshield. Helps to keep me a little cooler. The Clearview is also way more durable! Plus, the light grey looks way better than the clear OEM. A must have upgrade for touring in the South.

i replaced the oem 18” shield on my ‘17 voyager woth the SMALL (13.25”) no tint, no vent shield. i’m 6’0”, 32” inseam on stock seat. this shield is perfect height for me keeping my forward vision over the top and a nice gentle air flow on my face with no buffeting. nice to not have to look through a “mack truck” windshield for a change.

if you place the new shield on top of the oem to verify hole spacing it will look as if they are well off. but when you remove the oem you will see the hole spacing is perfect. also four hands is better than two when installing although i managed with no helper.

i believe the quality of materials will provide a long life of service as it is much thicker than oem.

i have used the shield for about six weeks now and i love it.

the only downside for me was the two week wait time from order placement to delivery as they are fabricated on a per order basis.

i don’t think you would be disappointed with this product.

Purchased vented shield in 2017…36000 miles later still a great investment..high quality. My bike is rode hard and put up wet, daily rider so usually doesn’t end up covered much..shield shows almost 0 fade and vent is adjusted multiple times daily due to the cool damp texas mornings and hot afternoons but still adjusts and clicks between positions as good as new! You won’t find a better windscreen. I am 6’6″ and I have the large on my vaquero, protection is perfect and 0 buffeting with a helmet..but on a foggy morning or in rain its almost too tall even at my height there are some visibility issues… So something to consider if you ride in all conditions. 10/10 made my vaquero the way it should’ve been all along!

I bought the small recurve Clearview shield with vent for my 2019 Voyager 1700. I have the stock seat, am 5’11” tall and I can see about 1 1/2″ over the top of the new shield. I’ve only ridden about two hours so far and I’m very happy overall. The stock shield was far too tall, especially with this summer heat in Georgia. The vent in the new shield did not add much noise but did let in a reasonable amount of air. However, the vent air does get mixed in with air coming up from the forks so it’s not a straight blast to my chest. The wind coming over the top of the shield hits right at the upper helmet vents so I get a bit more cooling but it doesn’t cause any buffering. I was a little concerned about the black vinyl decal at the bottom of the shield but didn’t really notice it while riding, and it’s easily removable anyway. I had purchased a Clearview shield for my 2005 Honda VTX1300R several years ago so I knew I could count on quality, making the choice for my Voyager easy.

Large windshield, no vent, clear color.

The windsheild is great! Night and day difference compared to the stock shield. After riding, the only issue i have is a little bit of wind buffeting on the very top of my helmet. However it isnt too concerning. Im 6 foot 2 inches tall, but i have a longer torso than normal. With doing the measurement as specified, i measuered in between the large and XL size shield. I picked the L size because i wanted to look over the shield and not through it. An XL would fixed the buffeting, but i dont want to look through the shield.

It’s wind blockage is wonderful and the sheild looks awesome. I purchased a small (size) 13″ recurve windshield light gray with a vent to replace my 8″ Windvest with a recurve. The Windvest is a fine windshield, but i t was too short (came with the bike) and I was getting wind buffeting at speeds over 40 mph. The Clearview shield virtually eliminated all buffeting. I have a 2018 Kawi Vulcan Vaquero 1700 ABS. The entire staff is very helpful, professional and have great integrity. I recommend Clearview to all my riding friends.

I cut 1.5″ off the bottom and painted the bottom black to match the decal that I removed prior to cutting. I used a jigsaw with a “plexiglass ” blade. It looks great. Went for ride today and the height is perfect for me. I am very happy with its performance. No buffeting and the wind is just at the top of my helmet.

I got the small light grey tinted windshield with the vent for my 2012 Vaquero. It is HANDS DOWN the best windshield I have ever bought. I have been using earplugs for 25+ years. This is the first time I didn’t need them. I rode 200 miles today with no fatigue without earplugs. I kept the vent fully opened as it was 90. I’m not sure if that helped me create a better pocket to ride in, but it did help a bit on the cooling. I have used 5 different windshields on this bike, taller and other flared types as well. The light grey is fine, no problems at all, but if I could get this windshield in a very dark tint I would buy another one. Thank You ClearView.

I love this shield. I tried the stock windshield on the vaquero and then the Klockwerks Flare 9″ and neither of those provided any protection. This windshield gave me what I was looking for! Plenty of coverage and I recommend you get it with the vent as that helped to eliminate head buffeting. And I mean eliminate, there are times you’d think you’re riding in a car with the windows down it had that little head buffeting. I absolutely recommend this shield to any Vaquero owner!

1700 Voyager windshield

So I still have the stock windshield. What does everyone recommend as a better replacement?  

I'm 6'1" and I prefer to look over the windshield instead of through it. I tried a 2" shorter one and i wound up looking mostly through the top edge. I tried another that was 4" shorter than the original and it works fine. At highway speeds the wind hits the top of my helmet where the vents are, and I can see fine when raining or lovebug splatters.  

Ditto for 5’-10” rider  

Best screens for me my last 3 bikes have been the ones that were level or just below tip of my nose. The 14 inch works just fine for day trips/road trips on my Voyager. I am 5 foot 9 with the Kawasaki Gel Tour seat which is maybe 1/2 inch taller than stock seat.  

I also have a 10 inch Slipstreamer for summer day rides. And I run the OEM 18 inch barn door in the winter.  

I have the 12" Klock Werks and love it. Looks good, too.  

I love my 12" Klockwerks screen on my Vaquero. I'm 5'8" tall, so I'm looking over it and it keeps the wind above my face for the most part. It's smoked, so it has a nice look to it as well. -John  

I put a clearview shield on my voyager. On their web site they will have instructions on measuring up from the key switch and ordering the height that way. I also put a piece masking tape on my factory shield across at the height i thought i wanted and went out riding. I wanted to look over the shield not through it and the tape helped a lot. What i noticed is my line of sight changes as i go up hills or down as you can imagine i looked through the shield at a lower point when going up hill and the opposite going down hills so the tape really helped me zero it in. Hope this helps.  

I usually cut-down my shields, once I am sure they're too tall. I use a crayon mark and ride looking at it's location. If it's right, I cut the shield and dress it smooth. I'm 6', and I currently have my shield at 15-1/2". I like the Voyager shield because you can cut the bottom, so you easily maintain the nice curvature at the top! I may try a new 12",smoked, for the summer. Then, I'll have the ability to switch shields as needed.  

This is my first bike with any form of wind screen and fairing. I only have a few hundred miles on it so far but I am NOT used to it. Took the bike out yesterday with NO windshield on at all and LOVED it. Looks a bit weird but I doubt I will be putting it back on. Shortest and cheapest alternative I have found is the 6" slipstreamer for $40-$50 USD on ebay. Mine should be in my hands next week.  

I have the 10 inch Slipstreamer for summer day trips. Lots of fun with more wind in the face....6 inch probably even more. Enjoy!  

I have the 12" klockwerks also. Great shield. Had the 9", and it was the worst (for me.) Serious buffeting. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough! The 12", on the other hand, is great. It would depend on your seat too, I would think, since some seats sit you slightly higher or lower. I have a Corbin dual saddle, but also had some "extra" work done on it, so I sit lower than stock seat. In my case (6'1"), the 12" klockwerks recurve is good! The other thing I can say, is klockwerks customer service is top notch!

New Slipstreamer ® Clear 16" Tall Windshield. It is designed to directly replace the stock size shield on the original equipment Kawasaki fairing.

2009-2023 VN1700 Kawasaki Voyager and Vaquero VN1700.

SHIELD SIZE: 16" tall overall Stock width 3/16" thick DESCRIPTION: This custom size replacement shield directly replaces the shield on your OE Kawasaki fairing.  It looks great and functions as good as it looks.  It is made of Lucite ®   which is a very nice windshield material.  It is one of the most rigid motorcycle windshield materials on the market.  Lucite resists yellowing more than most other windshield materials and it is the most optically clear motorcycle windshield material on the market.  Another nice advantage of Lucite is that it does not have to be coated with any hardcoating.  Hardcoated shields deteriorate rather quickly, making this Lucite shield a wise long term investment.  In the photo supplied below are many windshields; here you are getting the shield that has the ( 16" clear ) above it.
