One-Hour Harbor Cruise & Sea Lion Adventure

The One-Hour Harbor Cruise & Sea Lion Adventure tour is a convenient, affordable way to experience the sights and sounds of beautiful San Diego from the water. This tour typically runs twice a day (three times a day in the summer). Along the way, you’ll listen to an informative narration as you cruise past such San Diego attractions as Point Loma , Cabrillo National Monument, and some 20 other notable spots. Of course, you’ll also need to be keeping an eye out for sea lions, sea birds, and a whole bunch of other charming marine animals. Tickets run approximately $30 for adults and $15 for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Children 3 years old and younger may ride for free.

Best of the Bay Ninety-Minute Harbor Tour

The Best of the Bay Ninety-Minute Harbor Tour is a longer, more elaborate version of the north harbor tour described above. During this scenic cruise, you’ll cover a whopping 20 miles of scenery while enjoying remarkable views of over 50 famous San Diego landmarks, including the downtown skyline, Shelter Island, Seaport Village , and Coronado Island —just to name a few. And, since this is San Diego Bay, you never know just what kind of wildlife you might encounter, so you’ll want to have your phone and/or camera always at the ready! The Best of the Bay Tour departs twice a day, with tickets costing roughly $35 for adults, $18 for kids 4 through 12, and nothing for little ones who are 3 or under.

Hornblower Whale & Dolphin Watching Adventure

Hornblower Cruises offers unique varieties of the Whale & Dolphin Watching Adventure tour throughout the calendar year. During the summertime, the focus will be on catching a glimpse of the majestic blue whale, while the winter months will provide the best opportunity to view the distinctive gray whale. Regardless of the season, this three-and-a-half hour live-narrated tour will afford you the chance to see the many wonders of the open ocean, including sea creatures like fin whales, dolphins, sea lions, and more. The Whale & Dolphin Watching Adventure usually runs multiple times a day, but check their seasonal schedule for the most up-to-date information. Tickets are priced at $50 for adults, $25 for kids 4-12, and again, children 3 years old and younger ride for free. Last but not least, Hornblower Cruises policy mandates that if you’re unlucky enough to  not  see a whale during your cruise, you’ll receive a complimentary voucher to return for a second attempt on another whale-watch or harbor cruise .

Other Hornblower Tours and Services

In addition to its most popular tours detailed above, Hornblower Cruises organizes a number of other San Diego tours .

• If you are seeing other sights while in San Diego you can save some money if by getting a Go San Diego Pass . The Hornblower San Diego Cruises is included as are many other great San Diego Attractions .

The Sights & Sips Cocktail Cruise is a two-hour sunset cruise that runs weekend evenings. You’ll enjoy Hornblower’s signature cocktails, appetizers, and desserts as you bask in the sun setting over gorgeous San Diego Bay. A ticket is approximately $50 for adults, and $38 for kids 4-12.

• Though most known for their cruise tours, Hornblower also offers two different guided Segway tours. There’s a two-and-a-half hour outing that takes you through downtown San Diego and Balboa Park , and a one-and-a-half hour excursion that covers the Embarcadero and Gaslamp Quarter . Both tours cost about $50 regardless of your age.

• Hornblower Cruises also coordinate a variety of package deals that allow you to combine a harbor tour with admission to the world-famous San Diego Zoo and a one-day pass for the hop-on, hop-off Old Town Trolley . By purchasing this package deal, you’ll save nearly $25 compared to how much you’d spend if you bought each ticket separately.

“Thank you again for the opportunity for us and our friends to celebrate a beautiful evening. Everyone was so wonderful. I’m a hairdresser and my clientele is always asking for date night ideas. I already told several today about my great experience. It’s ok to use our photos…(above) Thank you again 🙂 “

“I was worried there wouldn’t be enough food for everyone on board when I purchased the tickets but I was pleasantly surprised that they had plenty of food for everyone to have seconds or thirds and also completely restocked the food during the cruise. The drink specials were also VERY reasonable! I was also pleasantly surprised that they didn’t try to rip you off on the drink prices. Perfect! I love when you can have more than one drink on a nice cruise like this because the prices are reasonable! The staff at the ticket booth was especially nice and helpful. I definitely recommend this cruise!”

Companies offering San Diego Cruises

Two companies offer cruises in the San Diego Bay area – Flagship Cruises and City Cruises.

Both companies offer excellent services and are rated 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor.

Flagship Cruises is a family-owned company that has been operating for more than 100 years.

They offer many ways to cruise around San Diego Bay, but their cruises on their luxury ships are the most popular.

Flagship’s luxury ships have three indoor and outdoor seating levels, 360-degree views, and an onboard snack bar serving snacks, sodas, beer, and wine.

Tourists who love speed prefer Flagship’s Patriot Jet Boat Thrill Ride , a turbo-charged way to explore the San Diego bay.

They also offer seasonal  whale-watching tours , available only between December and April.

Flagship harbor cruises are the most beautiful way to enjoy the best of San Diego.

City Cruises was earlier known as the Hornblower Cruises company and offers numerous narrated San Diego harbor cruises for all visitors.

Their 2-hour Harbor Sightseeing Cruise is the most popular among tourists and locals.

City Cruises also offers a 2.5-hour, 3-course Dinner Cruise and a 2-hour Champagne Brunch Cruise in the San Diego Bay.

If you prefer fun-filled happy hour entertainment with an enticing menu and cocktail specials, check out City Cruise’s Sights & Sips 2-hour Cocktail Cruise .

The company also offers Whale and Dolphin Watching Cruises and Sea Lion Adventure Cruises for those interested in local wildlife.

San Diego Harbor Cruise prices

The 1-hour harbor tour by Flagship Cruises to either South or North of the San Diego Bay costs US$33 per person.

For just US$38, you can go on the 2-hour Flagship cruise where you get to see both the North and South side of the Bay.

The 2-hour long Harbor Sightseeing Cruise by City Cruises is priced at US$46.

The San Diego Harbor Dinner Cruise costs US$168, and the Brunch Cruise comes with a price tag of US$135.

City Cruises and Flagship offer the same kind of discounts on their cruises.

Everybody above 13 must pay the full price, while kids four to 12 get a 50% discount on the adult ticket price.

Children three years and younger can join in for free.

While booking a San Diego Harbor Cruise, tourists have three options: North Harbor, South Harbor, or both.

If you opt for one of the harbors, the cruise is one hour long, and you get to see only half the attractions.

North Harbor or South Harbor San Diego Cruise

North Harbor: You can see the San Diego skyline, the Star of India, and the iconic ships of the Maritime Museum, Harbor Island, Shelter Island, and North Island Naval Air Station.

South Harbor: You see the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier, US Navy Surface Fleet, Coronado waterfront, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (Navy SEALs train here), and Coronado Bay Bridge.

The full tour of San Diego Bay lasts two hours, and you get to see both the North and the South harbors.

The complete 2-hour tour by Flagship Cruises costs only US$ 5 more than the 1-hour-long cruise.

So if your question is, “North Harbor or South Harbor at San Diego Harbor?” our answer is, “Both!”

City Cruises’ 2-Hours Cruise also covers all parts of the San Diego Harbor cruise.

Dress code for San Diego Harbor Cruises

The dress code for San Diego Harbor Cruises depends on the type of cruise booked.

Business casual to dressy casual attire is a safe bet for dinner cruises on the San Diego Bay.

Dinner Cruise dress code

Men can wear slacks or khaki pants and a collared shirt with or without a jacket, while women can wear slacks or skirts with a collared shirt or dress.

City Cruises recommends no jeans, shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, or gym shoes on dinner cruises.

For lunch and brunch cruises, it is better to be dressed in business casual, such as khaki pants and collared shirts.

Shorts, tank tops, flip flops, or gym shoes are strongly discouraged.

For San Diego whale-watching cruise , or regular harbor tours, tourists can wear casual attire, such as shorts and t-shirts.

We recommend dressing in layers and bringing along a jacket or a wrap because it can get breezy on board, especially on the outer decks and cruises that head out on the open ocean.

Bringing a hat and some sunscreen makes a lot of sense for daytime cruises.

City Cruises depart from 970 North Harbor Drive , and the Flagship Cruises leave the shores from 990 North Harbor Drive .

Departure piers for both the companies are just 300 meters (.2 miles) from each other.

San Diego Harbor Cruises departures

However, checking your ticket confirmation email to determine the boarding point and timing is better.

Boarding time is usually 15 to 30 minutes before departure.

It is better to reach at least 30 minutes before dinner cruises to enjoy your boarding cocktail and dockside sights.

Tourists planning a cruise around the San Diego Bay area have many questions.

We answer them here –

What happens to the cruise during bad weather?

City Cruises and Flagship Cruises sail rain or shine.  The ships remain dockside during severe weather conditions (or when directed by the US Coast Guard). The Patriot, which has open-air seating, is more likely to be canceled due to rain.  But you don’t need to worry because if your cruise gets canceled, you can choose to reschedule or receive a full refund.

Are there any age restrictions on San Diego cruises?

Most cruises have no age restrictions, but all minors require adult supervision. Cocktail cruises are usually for patrons 21 years and older.

When is the dinner served on dinner cruises?

The moment you get on board, you get a boarding drink, after which the service begins.

How safe are San Diego Cruises?

San Diego Harbor cruises are safe because each vessel is US Coast Guard certified with life preservers and all required lifesaving equipment, including child life vests.

Will I get seasickness?

Since the Bay area cruises don’t leave the San Diego harbor’s calm waters, most guests don’t experience any discomfort.  However, if you experience motion sickness, you will likely face uneasiness during the cruise.  You should take your usual preventative measures in such a case. Whale-watching cruises go out into the open ocean, which increases your chances of seasickness.

Foodies can also indulge in gourmet add-ons: a shrimp cocktail for $14.56, or select from baked brie, a Mediterranean Mezze platter, or spiced Ahi tuna with mustard aioli for $18.20. Vegetarians are not left behind, of course. At no additional cost, simply book the vegetarian option to relish in a delightful plate of braised summer vegetables, arugula pistachio pesto, and more.

Cruise ship boarding put back two hours for cleaning

Passengers due to board a cruise ship recently hit by a norovirus outbreak have been asked to arrive later so enhanced cleaning can be carried out.

Ventura is set to leave on Saturday at 19:00 BST for a 10-night cruise to Spain and Portugal.

Port health officials met the ship when it docked on 25 May after a number of passengers became unwell during a two-week cruise around the Canary Islands.

Cruise firm, P&O said embarkation, usually from midday, would be two hours later.

"This is an additional measure given the elevated levels of gastrointestinal symptoms in the UK as a whole at the moment," a P&O spokesperson said.

"We work closely with relevant global and regional health authorities and we have approved, recognised and proven protocols that are in place throughout every cruise to uphold the health and wellbeing of all guests and crew onboard."

The latest cruise on the ship, that can carry 3,078 passenger and 1,205 crew, is listed as sold out.

Norovirus symptoms include:

sudden, projectile vomiting and diarrhoea

high temperature

stomach pains

aching limbs

Norovirus can be caught from:

close contact with - or eating food prepared or handled by - someone infected

touching contaminated surfaces or objects and then your mouth

Washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.

When it comes to maritime adventures, few names evoke the sense of luxury, innovation, and impeccable service quite like Hornblower Cruises & Events. As a prominent figure in the cruise industry for decades, Hornblower made its name by offering passengers unforgettable experiences against the backdrop of some of the world’s most iconic waterways and cities. Hornblower Cruises & Events Sets Sail

Hornblower’s story begins in 1980, when environmental engineer and visionary Terry MacRae founded the company in Berkeley, California. At his previous company, MacRae was looking for interesting venues to entertain clients when he came across Hornblower Tours. He liked what he saw so much, that when the company hit the market, he and a partner bought it, and set sail in a new career direction. Initially starting with a small fleet of two ships, Hornblower Cruises & Events set out to redefine the cruising experience, emphasizing top-notch service and a commitment to creating unforgettable memories for passengers. MacCrae eventually bought his partner out, and boat by boat, built Hornblower into the largest dining and charter cruise company in North America.

My husband and I just enjoyed a wonderful Sunset cruise with Baywatch Tours this past weekend. I can only say that everything was perfect from communication with the owner, Farah to a relaxing cruise around the bay. Captain Logan pointed out several breeds of birds and explained points of interest. The boat was extremely comfortable and with just us and another party of 3 on board made it feel nice and private. Farah was kind enough to send us many photos that were taken when we departed the dock and also upon returning. I highly recommend Baywatch Tours and will book another tour with them if/when we return to North Padre.

This added so much more awesomeness to our Corpus/South Padre trip. Captain Logan and the owners couldn't by any nicer!! They even had blankets ready for us when it started to get chilly. The boat was super comfortable, the view was amazing and the total experience was just superb. We are definitely coming back in the future.

My wife and I enjoyed this boat cruise so much, I can't even give my thoughts sufficient justice. First off, the proprietors were just the absolute nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Not "nice because we are paying customers", but genuine nice, like they are really happy to share their boat with you. Have you ever stayed at a gasthouse in Germany? It feels like that when you are on their boat. And the boat! The best way to describe it, is a floating sofa. A big, comfy couch that just happens to be seaworthy. I'm of an age where I don't want to be standing, or even sitting uncomfortably. So I appreciated being able to kick back and relax on the Bentley, the name of their boat. They took us on a very nice sunset cruise, pointing out points of interest along the way. We passed a protected wildlife bird island, and spotted a coyote. How did the coyote get there? We took lots of pictures, and they took pictures of us, which they sent to us. The price was quite reasonable; at $49 per person, I've spent more and gotten less. We got to know the owners a bit, and they advised us on where to find beach access in CC, which we did not know. Do yourself a favor, and book this cruise. I promise I am not at all related to these people, or knew them before the cruise. I just really think that you will have a good time.

Wow!! So happy to host you both and make a birthday especially memorable. Come every year!! Thank you Harlan for choosing our tour and this overwhelmingly kind review!

Very relaxing sunset cruise! I loved that there were only 6 people on the boat (plus the captain). The boat was very plush and extremely comfortable. Highly recommend this tour company. The only thing I did not care for was all of the time spent looking at houses on Padre Island. It's not my schtick; would rather spend time looking at nature.

Thank you so much for you kind review. Next time feel free to tell the captain what you are most interested in. Our one hour tours either do a wildlife tour or homes tour. The 2 hour Sunset does both areas and a beautiful Sunset stop on the water . We appreciate your feedback- our customers are most important!!

Even though the clouds blocked the sunset it did not matter me and my 2 friends enjoyed it very much. My house had flooded on Monday so this was so relaxing and I needed it to carry on at home. The Captain was the best friendly, informative showing all the wonderful sights of the Laguna Madre. Can't wait to go again.

I am so glad you had a relaxing time on the water Linda. Captain Logan knows so much about all of the areas around here and such a favorite with the customers. Thanks for being a repeat customer from last year and we treasure your review, we hope you visit us again .- Farah,Owner

River Cruise on Luxurious Radisson Boat

Equipped with ice-breaking technology, these huge fancy yachts are the only river cruisers running all year around. The round trip journey takes two and a half hours and floats past all the big sights like the White House, Novodevichy monastery and the Kremlin. There’s a large open air observation deck up top, while the main body of the ship houses a restaurant with a dance floor for a romantic post dinner dance. For a particularly romantic experience take one of the evening boats and admire the bright lights of the city skyline at night.

The most relaxing and picturesque tour that Moscow can offer: a great way to see the city center and its main attractions. This is a perfect alternative to exploring the city by car, if you only have time to do sightseeing during weekday rush hours.

Your English-speaking guide is eager to share every bit of their knowledge about the surrounding landscape, the architecture and historical details.

We conduct Moscow river tour on Radisson Flotilla boats all year around!  It’s warm inside during winter months, while there’s air conditioning during hot summer days. You may also treat yourself to drinks, lunch or dinner on board (drinks and food are not included in tour price).

Putin calls for resuming production of intermediate missiles after scrapping of treaty with US

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for resuming production of intermediate-range missiles that were banned under a now-scrapped treaty with the US. The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty, which banned ground-based missiles with a range of 500-5,500 kilometers (310-3,410 miles) was regarded as an arms control landmark when Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and U.S. President Ronald Reagan signed it in 1988. MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday called for resuming production of intermediate-range missiles that were banned under a now-scrapped treaty with the United States.

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty, or INF, which banned ground-based nuclear and conventional missiles with a range of 500-5,500 kilometers (310-3,410 miles), was regarded as an arms control landmark when Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and U.S. President Ronald Reagan signed it in 1988.

The U.S. withdrew from the treaty in 2019, citing Russian violations.

“We need to start production of these strike systems and then, based on the actual situation, make decisions about where — if necessary to ensure our safety — to place them,” Putin said at a meeting of Russia’s national security council.

Putin said Russia hadn’t produced such missiles since the 2019 treaty scrapping, but that “today it is known that the United States not only produces these missile systems, but has already brought them to Europe for exercises, to Denmark. Quite recently it was announced that they are in the Philippines.”

Since withdrawing from the treaty, the U.S. Army has moved forward with developing a conventional, ground-launched, midrange missile capability called the Typhon that would have been banned under the INF. The Typhon fires two Navy missiles, the Tomahawk Land Attack Missile and Standard Missile-6.

Image

The U.S. Army ran the system through tests during an exercise in the Philippines this spring.

The end of the INF was a milestone in the deterioration of relations between the U.S. and Russia.

The last remaining arms-control pact between Washington and Moscow is the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which limits each country to no more than 1,550 deployed nuclear warheads and 700 deployed missiles and bombers. It’s set to expire in 2026, and the lack of dialogue on anchoring a successor deal has worried arms control advocates.

Putin’s statement comes amid rising tensions between Russia and the West over the conflict in Ukraine and concern about possible nuclear attacks.

In June, Putin spoke to executives from international news organizations about Moscow’s use of nuclear weapons.

“We have a nuclear doctrine, look what it says,” he said. “If someone’s actions threaten our sovereignty and territorial integrity, we consider it possible for us to use all means at our disposal. This should not be taken lightly, superficially.”
