A concert with pop-punk rockers Green Day planned for Aug. 10 has been rescheduled.

The band announced via a post on their Facebook page that the planned performance at the Hersheypark Stadium would be postponed.

“Philly, you were unreal last night! Thanks for powering through the rain with us!” the post read. “Sadly, right after stepping off stage, Billie lost his voice and won’t be able to perform at this evening’s show in Hershey. We’re so sorry to be missing you tonight, but here’s the good news - the rescheduled date is Sept 2 so hold on to your tickets - we will see you then!”

The concert is part of the Saviors Tour, and also includes the groups Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.

Fans who have already purchased tickets can redeem them for the newly scheduled date of Sept. 2, according to a post on the Hersheypark Stadium Facebook page .

It’s the second time this season a concert at the venue has been postponed. Stevie Nicks was to perform at Hersheypark Stadium on June 15, but a member of her band took ill hours before the show was to start. That concert has been rescheduled for Sept. 28.

Green Day cancel London show on short notice with fans lining up at venue

An "unexpected illness" to blame for last-minute cancellation of Green Day's date at Electric Ballroom in Camden

Green Day

Green Day fans were left heartbroken as the band pulled the plug on their scheduled appearance at London's Electric Ballroom tonight (Friday).

Just a day after the punk heroes performed a surprise show for around 100 fans at the Marquis pub in Covent Garden, they were due to perform at the Electric Ballroom in Camden.

The show was part of the band's intimate Hella Tiny tour, with the 1200-capacity Electric Ballroom a far cry from the venues they are used to playing.

But with fans already lining up outside, Green Day announced via a social media post that the gig would not go ahead.

On X (formerly Twitter), they said: "London, unfortunately tonight’s show has been cancelled due to an unexpected illness.

"We're truly bummed about this and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Ticket refunds will be processed automatically next week. We’ll see you back again on The Saviors Tour if not sooner."

Billie Joe Armstrong and co last month released The American Dream Is Killing Me, the first song to be officially released from the band's upcoming 14th studio album. Titled  Saviors  and featuring a photo taken from a 1978 riot in Belfast during the midst of The Troubles as its cover, the LP will be released on January 19 via Reprise.

Green Day cancels London gig minutes before doors due to open as fans queue outside

Green Day fans were left massively disappointed after the group cancelled their planned gig in London minutes before doors were due to open.

The US trio were due to play an intimate gig in Electric Ballroom in Camden as part of their Hella Tiny tour, before their massive The Saviors tour next year.

However the band – comprising of lead singer and guitarist, Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool – cancelled the gig due to illness last minute.

As fans queued up outside the 1200-capacity iconic venue , the official Green Day Twitter (aka X) account shared the message that ‘unfortunately tonight’s show has been cancelled due to an unexpected illness.’

‘We’re truly bummed about this and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Ticket refunds will be processed automatically next week. We’ll see you back again on The Saviors Tour if not sooner.’

The tweet announcing the cancellation of the show was sent at 6.56pm – doors were due to open at 7.00pm.

To get the latest news from the capital visit Metro.co.uk's visit  Metro's London news hub .

Hundreds were left disappointed by the decision, with some sharing their anger under Green Day’s tweet, including one woman who called the late notice ‘disrespectful for fans.’

‘Thankfully we didn’t travel from too far, but in the couple of hours in the queue we chatted to people from Germany & Newcastle who spent hundreds getting there for the show. Livid.’

Many more pleaded with the band to reschedule rather than refund the tickets, and others asked angrily if they would also be refunding the cost of accommodation and travel expenses.

‘Absolutely gutted, flew to London, paid for flights & hotel, queued for hours out the back to try & see them & then this … might just cry my eyes out for the rest of the night,’ one devastated fan wrote.

It comes the day after drinkers at a pub in the capital got the surprise of a lifetime when the iconic band showed up for a surprise gig.

The iconic punk trio were seen in cosy boozer The Marquis, rocking out for around 100 unsuspecting fans ahead of the planned Ballroom gig.

Will Gamble, 27, was one of the lucky ones who got to see Green Day in action, giving him a story to tell his pals for a very long time.

Recalling the unexpected night, he shared: ‘So, my friend had a tip-off from a good friend close to the band that the show was happening at a bar on Chandos Place.

‘We actually walked into the wrong pub initially and sat in The Harp a few doors down being like, “Mmm surely it can’t be here?!”, turns out we were over-excited and turned into the first pub on the road that The Marquis was on.

‘Anyway, we sank our pints quickly and walked into the Marquis at about 7:30pm where there was a sign saying “Busk Till Dawn @ 9pm”. There were four other people at the front, of which one had been tipped off after bumping into Mike Dirnt’s wife earlier that day that it was there.’

One of the punters put the location of the event on Reddit , prompting a huge rush of people to the venue, as you can imagine.

At 9:30pm, a support band came on and played some covers – including hits from Green Day.

Then at 10pm, the trio took to the stage and performed their set to a crowd of adoring fans – and regular pubgoers.

Will added: ‘[Afterwards] we stood outside for like an hour in disbelief, along with the police turning up due to crowds on the road!

‘The first album I ever bought was Bullet In A Bible in 2005 – they are the reason I love music. This felt like a full circle moment, I never thought I’d have the chance to see them at a smaller venue than when I saw them at Shepherds Bush Empire in 2012, let alone a pub!’

Sharing pictures to Instagram after their epic gig, Green Day penned: ‘London, what a night!!! We’re going to remember that one for a long long time.

‘Thank you to @the_marquis_covent_garden for having us and to the handful of you that got to witness it.’

Taking to the comments, plenty of fans echoed Will’s sentiments.

‘Honestly I can’t believe I made it there. I think it will probably go down as the best gig of my life’, one fan praised.

‘I was there!❤️❤️❤️ I can’t believe I made it. Thanks for giving me the best show ever! ❤️’, penned another.

Green Day’s 14th studio album is set to be released on January 19, 2024, which will be the band’s first since Kerplunk.

The rockers will also embark on a tour, playing stadiums across the UK, Europe, and America next summer.

My first Green Day experiences date back to high school, I was 15-16 and it was like ‘93-‘94 before Dookie even came to be. I would see this punk band from the Bay Area perform in some local pizza place in Bakersfield, California called Jerry’s Pizza. From then on I was in love. Like IN LOVE! I loved the bands music! Their sound was something that just got me and to this day Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? is my most favorite Green Day song still. I take a lot of pride in saying I was part of the small percentage of people who loved their music before the entire world knew who they were. They are badass, Hands down! AND I’m thankful BJ had a sweet wife and family to help him when he needed it most and that he is still breathing and that he is here to give us more music with his fellow brothers of the band.

This was my first concert in the Pit, and it was the best night of my life. I got really hyped when I saw how close I was to the stage, and I met some pretty cool people there. When Green Day came out, I actually started crying. I was standing only a couple feet away from the band at points, and I know it was a night I'm never going to forget. I think what made Green Day different that most concerts was how they called so many people on stage and gave away so much stuff. Some people got to go on stage and sing lyrics, or play guitar, and actually got to meet the band members and I honestly thought it was so amazing because they made someone else have the best night of their life. This concert was hands down 10/10, in fact, it broke the scale.

Boy did they make up for it

Rancid, Green Day's tour buddies. Started the show off with high adrenaline. So much so that a mosh pit itself began to form at the front of the stage. I was slap bang in the middle of it.

This high adrenaline show meant that when Green Day started the crowd was already pumped and ready. And they delivered on the he action packed, high octane poreformance everyone wanted. I would easily call this the best night of my life without question. It was a phemomonal performance from both Green Day and Rancid and I wold seriously recommended that,if they're coming to somewhere near you. You get tickets ASAP.

Green Day cancels fall concerts, postpones tour start

Well-being of frontman bille joe armstrong band's 'main concern'.

Green Day is cancelling this fall's performances and postponing the start of its upcoming tour, as frontman Billie Joe Armstrong continues treatment for substance abuse.

Along with cancelling the club tour slated for this fall, the band announced Monday that it has postponed the beginning of its tour in the new year.

Green Day had been scheduled to launch a club tour in Seattle in late September and continue with dates through Dec. 10. Just days before the start, however, the band announced it was postponing the engagements.

The announcement came in the wake of Armstrong's angry public outburst at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. Shortly after that incident,  the band announced he was seeking substance abuse treatment .

Now, the remaining dates on the fall club tour have been cancelled, along with all scheduled appearances for January and February 2013. This includes concerts in Quebec City and Toronto, along with many U.S. stops.

"Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," said Mike Dirnt, bass player for the Grammy-winning rock trio.

The band did, however, announce it is moving up the debut of Tre  — the final instalment of its three-album release, following on the albums Uno and Dos — to Dec. 11, more than a month ahead of schedule.

"We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned," according to drummer Tré Cool.

"If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."

The new album trilogy marks the group's first release of new material since 2009's 21st Century Breakdown . The punk rock trio is best known for albums such as Dookie , Insomniac , Nimrod and American Idiot , a rock opera that topped the music charts, won Grammys and other industry accolades, and also inspired a hit  Broadway musical of the same name .

Green Day Comes Around, Celebrating Two Album Anniversaries

The long-running California punk band brought a show focused on two classic LPs and a new release to New York, and multiple generations turned out for the spectacle.

With a raised eyebrow, a wrinkled nose and lips curled into a defiant grin, Billie Joe Armstrong looked wide-eyed into the crowd at Citi Field in Queens on Monday night and mouthed the words “I love you.” Tré Cool sat, blue-haired and snarling, at the drum kit. Mike Dirnt planted his feet firmly in a wide stance, with his bass at his knees.

Green Day, the long-running California punk band, opened the full United States leg of its Saviors Tour in New York this week, with a bill featuring contemporaries (Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid) and young upstarts ( the Linda Lindas ). The tour, supporting the group’s latest album , coincides with the 30th anniversary of its breakout 1994 LP “Dookie” and the 20th anniversary of its acclaimed 2004 release “American Idiot.”

Both albums were played in their entirety before a cross-generational crowd that became a pulsing sea of black, red and neon pink. Despite the smothering humidity, there was gelled hair as far as the eye could see. Studded belts sat atop black skinny jeans and red ties adorned black button-down shirts.

A man with bleached hair holds up a casino chip, sitting beside a man with dyed-blue hair, both at a blackjack table in a backstage area.

The deeply devoted had lined up early in the afternoon. Buttons and pins were traded, stories of adolescent mischief and fond memories exchanged. A teenage fan recounted how her father got onstage with the band once at Warped Tour.

“I’ve waited 10 years for this,” said Elijah Shephard, 19, who discovered “Dookie” in elementary school and was attending his first Green Day show. “‘Coming Clean’ is a big one, because it’s about him coming out as bisexual,” he added of the 1994 track, noting that “Jesus of Suburbia,” from the 2004 album, also had personal resonance, “because coming from a broken home, it’s not an easy thing to deal with. And I think Billie really puts it into nice words.”

For Maddox Thornton, 19, another first-timer, witnessing Green Day in the open air before a crowd of tens of thousands underscored its genre’s enduring power. “Punk went from playing in small clubs, sweaty clubs, for 30 to 50 people, and now they’re selling out baseball stadiums in New York City,” he said, his hands tucked firmly in his pockets. “It just shows this is what punk is.”

Travis Louie, an artist who grew up in Queens, didn’t know Dirnt bought one of his paintings at an art show in California until the bass player mentioned him on Instagram.

“He contacted me and then he asked me: ‘Hey, you want to go to a show?’” Louie, 55, said, laughing in disbelief, with his family seated next to him. “I would have gone to see them anyway. They’re legitimate. They’re the real thing.”

While the six musicians onstage — the trio plus the guitarists Kevin Preston and Jason White, and the keyboardist Coley O’Toole — stuck to the largely stripped-down sound of Green Day’s melodic punk, the band amped up the visual spectacle for the stadium setting. Sudden bursts of pyrotechnics, cued to nearly every track, sent an orange haze over the faces in the crowd. Towering images ripped from the cover art from both anniversary albums took over the stage. An inflatable airplane made its way across the field and released toy missiles into the eager, outstretched arms below.

Young children wrapped their limbs tightly around the shoulders and waists of adults as they bounced to “When I Come Around.” The mosh pit circled furiously to the end of “Are We the Waiting/St. Jimmy” as onlookers headbanged in time with the beat. Signs scrawled with phrases like “Green Day You Saved My Life I Turn 18 Today Can I Play Guitar for You” rose and fell above the heads in the crowd, in hopes that Armstrong would take notice and choose their holders to join him onstage, a Green Day concert tradition.

After two and a half hours, nearly 40 songs and a finale where Cool and Dirnt hit the stage dressed as Deadpool and Wolverine, the crowd staggered off into the night, drenched in sweat and nostalgia. Earlier, Armstrong issued a note of appreciation nodding to one of the band’s hits: “New York is paradise tonight.”

London, unfortunately tonight’s show has been canceled due to an unexpected illness. We’re truly bummed about this and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Ticket refunds will be processed automatically next week. We’ll see you back again on The Saviors Tour if not sooner. — Green Day (@GreenDay) November 10, 2023

Green Day

Unfortunately for fans in Australia and New Zealand, these dates have been cancelled and not postponed like the other Hella Mega dates which were rescheduled for 2021 .

Fans in those countries will now have to settle for the less than promising statement that they will “be back there rocking with you at some point.”

Scottie Scheffler leads by 4 at East Lake as Morikawa and Schauffele try to keep it close

green day tour cancelled

Atlanta — Scottie Scheffler put on another clinic from tee-to-green at East Lake on Friday for a 5-under 66 and a four-shot lead at the Tour Championship that didn't seem as big as it looked.

Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele had something to do with that.

In a second round that brought a sense of urgency for those chasing the No. 1 player in golf, Morikawa responded with nine birdies, two on the final two holes after a 93-minute storm delay, for an 8-under 63.

Schauffele finished with a pair of 12-foot putts — one for par, one for birdie, both feeling just as important as the other — for a 64.

“This course right now with how firm the greens are, it’s a ball-striking type deal where you have to be in the fairways and hit your number, and he’s been killing everyone at that all year,” Schauffele said. “I know he’s not going to let up, so there’s only one way to get him.”

Morikawa has laid out a plan for the week. Still, he was seven shots back to start the day and has seen enough of Scheffler this year to know what to expect.

“He's going to continue to make birdies,” Morikawa said. “He’s driving it really, really well here and you’re giving yourself enough wedges to make some scoring opportunities out there. For me, it’s just bringing energy and just kind of staying alive out there.”

They still have their work cut out for them.

Scheffler is the No. 1 seed in the FedEx Cup and began the finale with a two-shot lead. He also is playing as well as he has all year, and those immediately behind him in the FedEx Cup were not at their best in the opening round. That accounted for Scheffler having a seven-shot lead at the start of the day.

He returned from the storm delay with a pair of birdies over his final three holes and reached 21-under par. Morikawa was at 17 under and Schauffele was another shot behind.

No one else was closer than nine shots to Scheffler.

At stake for Scheffler is a chance to win the FedEx Cup and its $25 million prize, which he failed to do as the top seed each of the past two years. But he looks more comfortable on an East Lake course that has been overhauled — “This is not the same course,” he said when he arrived Monday for his first look — and everyone has a big task chasing him.

Scheffler began the round with a 7-iron that he thought was going to leave him a 20-foot look at birdie, except that it caught the wrong side of the ridge and rolled off the green, down a severe slope and settled 90 away against a collar of rough.

He holed a 20-foot par putt, a good start that sent him on his way. Even with Morikawa and Schauffele scoring early, Scheffler still led by six shots early on the back nine until he made his first bogey in 29 holes and Morikawa chipped in for birdie, a two-shot swing.

Morikawa had four birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn, only to see his tee shot to the 11th bounce hard and roll off the back of the green, leading to bogey. But he recovered well enough, particularly with his two closing birdies.

Schauffele, who started the tournament two shots behind as the No. 2 seed, lost ground with a 70 on the first day. He sorted out most of his swing issues and had a bogey-free day.

Scheffler tried not to get caught up in his seven-shot lead — a product of his 65 on Thursday and the next five players behind him in the FedEx Cup doing no better than 69 — though it was unusual to see a six-shot lead on the front nine on a Friday.

“Today was a day where I had a big lead, but there was a huge group of guys right there, so obviously some guys are going to play pretty well,” Scheffler said. “But I did a good job of staying in my own world out there and put up a good round of golf.”

He went out in 32. Morikawa and Schauffele had to keep making birdies just to keep this from turning into a runaway. Scheffler's lone mistake was going bunker-to-bunker on the par-4 13th and missing an 8-foot par putt.

Scheffler is driving it so well — he missed only three fairways — that he didn't have more than a 7-iron into a par 4 and is setting a tough target for everyone to chase.

Adam Scott (67), Wyndham Clark (67) and Sahith Theegala (66) were nine shots behind. Sam Burns, Scheffler's best friend on tour, birdied his last two holes for a 68 and lost so much ground he stopped looking at the leaderboard. He was 10 shots behind.

“He's the best golfer on the planet. He’s really good with leads,” Burns said. “It’s not a great thing for us.”
