Roger Federer

Roger Federer has some top-of-the-line options to choose from when it comes to where he’ll spend his retirement years. In September, the tennis great announced his decision to step away from the game after 20 Grand Slam singles titles. “I am 41 years old. I have played more than 1,500 matches over 24 years,” Federer said in an audio clip posted to social media . “Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamed, and now I must recognize when it is time to end my competitive career.” Federer’s final match took place in London on September 23, where he played alongside his longtime rival Rafael Nadal against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock—and lost.

The notoriously family-oriented athlete originally hails from Basel, Switzerland, so it comes as no surprise that he has owned and still maintains several homes in the picturesque country. He’s also spent plenty of time on courts in metropolitan Dubai and has reportedly owned property there since 2006. Below, we’ve rounded up some of Federer’s most glamorous homes over the years.

One of the first homes that Federer owned after moving out of Basel was an apartment in Bäch, Switzerland , on the south end of Lake Zurich. Little is known about this lakeside unit —including how much the athlete paid for it or how many square feet it measured. The tennis champ reportedly sold the apartment in February 2014.

Also in 2008, Federer snapped up a property in the Swiss village of Valbella in the Lenzerheide-Valbella ski area, a popular holiday destination . It is unknown how much he paid for the modern mountain pad, but according to Blick , a local Swiss paper, he razed the existing structure and erected his own. The Swiss-style chalet features open spaces and custom woodwork and paneling for a cozy cabin vibe. The grounds also include, naturally, a tennis court—though Federer might have other sports in mind these days.

“One of my goals when I retire is that I’ll have time to explore our mountain bike trails,” he told The New York Times in 2021. “Mountain biking has become really big in Switzerland because we want to make the mountain regions year-round destinations.” He still owns this property, and it’s been reported that he also owns an adjacent chalet used by his parents and connected to the first via an underground passageway.

Federer reportedly paid about $30 million for a vacant 5,800-square-meter parcel set high on a scenic slope overlooking Lake Zurich in the wealthy lakeside community of Herrliberg, Switzerland. There was speculation as to whether or not Federer was plotting to build an ultramodern mansion on that prime real estate, but ultimately no such place appeared. The lot still stands empty, and it seems safe to assume that Federer still owns it.

Instead, Federer opted to set up a home base for his family in Wollerau, Switzerland, a stone’s throw from his original Bäch apartment. He paid a reported $7.3 million (£6.5 million), for the custom-built home, a three-story behemoth composed largely of floor-to-ceiling windows that offer unparalleled, scenic views of the lake. Images of the interior of the home reveal a massive stone fireplace that rises up through all three floors, as well as expansive wood-plank decks on each floor. A swimming pool, spa, and state-of-the-art gym are notable features, as is an underground parking garage, where Federer no doubt stores many of his prized Mercedes-Benzes.

At the Moët & Chandon 250th Anniversary gala in 2012, Federer told Architectural Digest that his dream house would be “very modern and cozy. Does that exist?” He added that he would want to use architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron because “they’re from Basel, my hometown, and I love their work.” No confirmation on whether or not he utilized the firm for his Wollerau home, though it’s arguably dream house material.

Speaking of dream houses, Federer also shelled out a reported $23.5 million for a penthouse in Dubai’s exclusive Le Reve (or “The Dream” in French) skyscraper that same year. The unit features five bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, and the primary bedroom even boasts a spacious dressing room and walk-in closet. Images of the penthouse reveal luxurious marble floors, coffered ceilings, and stunning views of a marina teeming with multimillion-dollar yachts. As part of the luxury tower’s many amenities, Federer can also reportedly call for a helicopter or private jet with the press of a button.

“I remember it was brutally hot, I think like 39 Celsius every day,” he once said of Dubai. “But I had a good time practicing, it was peace[ful] and quiet, and I kind of enjoyed it here. I was like, You know, I think this works well for practice and leisure. The next thing I knew, I had an apartment.”

Federer’s next home is still under construction, but if his other properties are any indication, it will be similarly luxurious and grand. In 2018, he picked up a 16,000-square-meter plot in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, a municipality set on the northern end of Lake Zurich. It’s unknown how much he paid for this sizable plot, but reports say that the finished home may be worth upwards of $50 million. Blueprints for the residence reportedly include a classroom, an indoor sports area, and of course, a tennis court.

The Wimbledon star bought the property back in 2018 and has been renovating it since then. Once complete, Roger, his wife Mirka and their four children Myla, Leo, Lenny and Charlene will likely be keen to move into their new lakefront home, which will come complete with a tennis court and incredible views over Lake Zurich.

However, there have been several setbacks due to the pandemic and contaminated land, according to The Sun .

In the meantime, Roger and his family are thought to be living on the other side of the lake in a modern mansion which he built from scratch for £6.5 million in 2014.

Set on 1.5 acres, the three-storey property supposedly consists of two separate apartments, one for himself and his family and another for his parents. Since Roger isolated at his Zurich home following the pandemic, it was likely reassuring for his family to remain in close proximity - plus, it means Roger and Mirka can have help with childcare.

As well as large windows and balconies offering uninterrupted views, other features include a swimming pool, a spa, a gym and underground parking. Inside, it boasts modern interiors with white walls, wooden floorboards, tall ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the space with natural light.

However, Roger has kept his home life tightly under wraps and so there are practically no photos of the Swiss tennis star inside his property. But it's clear the scenery nearby is to die for since he has shared several snaps of the snow-capped mountains, rolling hills and ice blue waters in partnership with Switzerland Tourism.

Despite owning another property in Dubai, the 20-time Grand Slam champion even recently revealed he has no plans to move away from Switzerland where he can hike, cycle and even try mountain biking when he retires.

He said: "I feel like I’ve always represented Switzerland and I’ve done my fair share to be an ambassador for the country. But for me to do it in an official mission is a nice thing to do. I feel like I had to be a bit older to do this. At around 40 years old, I’ve been to maybe 60 countries. I live in Switzerland now and I will continue to live in Switzerland."

The 19-time Grand Slam champion is currently defending his Australian Open title, which he won by defeating archrival Rafael Nadal in an epic five-setter in 2017, Down Under. In addition to all the trophies he has been accumulating, Roger Federer rakes in vast sums of money, a sizeable portion of which he spends on high-priced real estate. Federer may have a home in South Africa and a luxury apartment in Dubai, but the Swiss maestro maintains a slew of properties in Switzerland, including a pair of newly constructed contemporary side-by-side chalets in the Swiss Alps town of Valbella.

The tennis legend , who boasts several properties, has a stunning glass house that cost £6.5million with incredible views of Lake Zurich.

The three-storey compound also has two separate apartments for guests - two of which are 38-year-old Fed's parents, Robert and Lynette, who are believed to live with him and his wife, Mirka.

Take a sneak peak inside the eight-time Wimbledon winner's beautiful digs.

WHERE IS IT?

In 2014, Federer, worth over £450million , moved into the home in the tax-haven Wollerau in Schwyz canton.

A state-of-the-art building, it boasts floor to ceiling windows, large balconies that overlook the tranquil Lake Zurich, and features a glass dome over the living space.

Because it has one of the lowest tax municipalities in Europe, it has attracted the rich and famous.

Multi-millionaire F1 drivers  Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa have also made Wollerau their home over the years.

The home was built from scratch, and features all the amenities a top class sports star would want.

Federer and his family moved into the property in 2014

Aside from that incredible scenic view, there's plenty for Roger to do.

The property has a swimming pool, complete with spa, as well as a first class gym.

Both will ensure Fed stays on top of his game.

There's also a underground car park, where he can park his exquisite Mercedes Benz collection.

However, it's his parents that profit the most.

The property was built on a 1.5 acre plot of land

FAMILY MATTERS

Family man Roger believed this to be the ideal home for his Slovakian-born wife Mirka, and their four children, Myla, Charlene, Lenny, and Leo.

But he was quick to make sure his mum and dad were also onboard.

That's why he built two separate apartments within the three-storeys, where they are believed to reside.

Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer has made career earnings worth $550 million and has spent a sizable fortune of $25 million on adding stunning properties and land to his real estate portfolio.

Born to Robert and Lynette Federer, young Roger Federer played tennis with his older sister before enrolling in a junior tennis program in his hometown of Basel, Switzerland. Australian tennis player Peter Carter saw his potential and trained him until Federer turned 13. Carter helped him raise his position in the junior rankings and won the Wimbledon Juniors’ single and doubles titles. After turning pro in 1999, Federer began showing his talent through ATP tournaments. Since his career took after winning his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2003, Federer went on to win 20 Grand Slam titles and was considered the greatest of all time. He has earned $130 million from prize money and makes roughly $65 million from brand endorsements yearly.

He has gone head-to-head with notable athletes and become the highest-paid sports personality in the world on multiple occasions. Living a lavish lifestyle with his family, the tennis star has spent $25 million on buying homes. Let’s take a look at his real estate portfolio.

Growing up in Basel, Switzerland, Roger Federer made several friends in his locality, where his father worked in a pharmaceutical company. While tennis was regarded as a pastime in his house, Federer practiced it on his street and turned it into his passion. Despite his family’s poor financial state, they funded his games after realizing his potential to master the game. He grew up in the locality at Münchenstein, where several homes have been lined up with a similar interior. The narrow street has enough space for parking and play.

Roger Federer made his first big real estate purchase in 2008 when he bought an apartment on Lake Zurich in Bäch, Switzerland. According to Yahoo News , no information about the buying amount is revealed. However, it is an expensive neighborhood to have a home. It wasn’t until purchasing the property that Federer moved away from his parents in Basel, a year before he married his wife Mirka in 2009. It was also reported that the same year, he purchased a Swiss chalet in the Lenzerheide-Valbella ski area that has custom woodwork and a tennis court.

Around the same time that Federer and Mira had their second set of twins, Leo and Lenny, the couple paid $30 million to buy 5,800 square-meter of land in Herrliberg, Switzerland. Overlooking the lakeside community, the vacant parcel of land offers heartwarming views of the town and the Swiss Alps. The neighborhood is reportedly costly, and while there was speculation that Federer would build a mansion on the estate, it remains empty but under his ownership.

After living in Basel and Bäch for a considerable period, Roger Federer moved his family of six to set up their base in Wollerau, Switzerland. The home was built from scratch, costing the Swiss maestro $7.3 million, as noted by Architectural Digest . The three-story mansion comprises floor-to-ceiling windows in each direction to offer scenic views of the nearby lake. Along with the unparalleled views, one of the home's unique features is a stone fireplace that goes three floors up. Other rooms in the home include a spa, a swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, expansive decks, and underground parking for his extensive car collection.

It wasn’t until 2020 that people discovered that Roger Federer has an opulent penthouse in Dubai located at the Le Reve, one of the most exclusive residences in Dubai. As mentioned by GQ Middle East , the five-bedroom penthouse has a regal interior with a private terrace to offer sweeping sights of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Marina. The home has technology-controlled systems for lighting, multimedia, and temperatures. Each room features elegant furniture with wooden flooring. The residential tower is also home to Fernando Alonso, a former F1 driver.

Along with his primary residence in Wollerau, Switzerland, Roger Federer has his eyes set on the next home he is building. The tennis star purchased a plot spanning 16,000 square meters in 2018 for upwards of $50 million, as stated by Hello Magazine . It is located north of Zurich in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. While the update on the construction remains pending, the blueprints indicate that Federer has plans to add a tennis court, indoor sports arena, and a classroom on the property.

With the construction of his last purchase in 2018, Roger Federer will have ample time on his hands as the tennis legend announced his retirement from professional tennis starting September 15, 2022. Federer will find more time to spend in his multiple Switzerland homes with his family and friends.

State-of-the-art three-storey building is in Wollerau and will provide magnificent views across Lake Geneva

Tennis star Roger Federer is set to move into a £6.5m glass mansion next to Lake Geneva.

The huge property, for Federer and his family , is expected to be ready before the end of the year.

The state-of-the-art three-storey building - called The Residence - is located in Wollerau in Schwyz county, and comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, a swimming pool and large balconies with magnificent views stretching across the lake.

It's believed his parents Robert and Lynette could be the new residents of two luxury apartments being built next to the main home.

Federer, 33, moved from his birthplace of Basel to the 'tax paradise' of Wollerau in March 2008, one year before marrying his Slovakian-born wife Mirka, 36.

The couple, who have four children, were no doubt attracted by the mansion's location.

The house is 20 minutes drive from Zurich, and an hour from Basel, with Wollerau having one of the lowest tax systems in Europe.

The liberal tax structure has attracted other multi-millionaires and Formula One drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa live nearby.

Scores of builders have been working to get the impressive structure completed this year.

It's described as "prestigious, contemporary architecture with extensive glazing,' by the developer, Kamata Development.

According to the list of the world's highest paid athletes, published by Forbes, Federer is ranked 7th.

He added an eye-watering $56.2m (£40m) to his personal fortune over the past 12 months, with just $4.2m (£2.55m) coming from on-court winnings.

As the face of a number of high-profile brands such as Nike and Rolex, the Swiss star picked up around $52m (£33m) in endorsements.

Despite his huge earnings, Federer dropped down the list this year after being ranked 2nd in 2013.

During his playing days, Roger Federer made his mark as one of the best players to ever step foot on a tennis court. Throughout his career, Federer has garnered victories in the Australian Open, French Open, US Open, and Wimbledon. He also notched a silver medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. With a decorated resume, have you ever wondered how a tennis star like Roger Federer lives? Well, wonder no more. This article features Roger Federer’s $7.3 million home in Wollerau, Switzerland.

In 2014, Federer and his family acquired and moved into his new home in Wollerau, Switzerland. The property acquisition made the tennis star shell out 6.5 million euros or $7.3 million.

Here are some photos of Roger Federer’s $7.3 million home in Wollerau, Switzerland.

It features glass windows and allows the residents to have a breathtaking view of Lake Zurich from the home’s balcony. Sitting on a 1.5 acre plot of land, the property is a three story home separated into two apartments.

Designed with minimalism in mind, the home features a spacious master bedroom that includes a sleek bathroom. The home also has a large living room, which allows Federer and his family to gather together with ease.

Furthermore, Federer can also enjoy a respectable swimming pool and a world-class gym. With the house's underground garage, Federer should have no problem housing his luxurious German car collection.

Although Federer recently announced his retirement in 2022, given that he was one of the most successful tennis players in history, it isn’t a surprise that he can afford to live a luxurious lifestyle. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Federer has a net worth of $550 million . Apart from his lucrative paychecks as a tennis player, the international tennis star has also earned a lot from his bevy list of endorsement deals. In fact, Federer has already pocketed at least $1 billion from endorsements alone.

Aside from his Wollerau home, Federer also has other properties under his name. These properties include a $30 million property in Herrliberg and a 16,000 square meter property in Rapperswil-Jona.

Nevertheless, this is all the information that we have on Roger Federer’s $7.3 million home in Wollerau, Switzerland.

Other Houses and Properties Owned by Roger Federer

Roger Federer’s athletic prowess has made him one of the highest-paid sports personalities worldwide. Over the years, Roger Federer has added various swanky properties to his real estate portfolio. Let’s take a quick look and see what all properties the tennis star owns.

In 2008, Roger bought a plush apartment in Bach just after moving out of Basel. The property was located on the south end of Lake Zurich in Bach. However, the tennis star sold this property in 2014.

In the same year, i.e. 2008, Roger purchased another property in the Swiss Village of Valbella in the Lenzerheide-Valbella ski area. This place is also popular as a holiday spot in Switzerland, and the property has custom woodwork and open spaces with proper panelling.

Not just in Switzerland, but Roger Federer also owns property in Dubai! The tennis rockstar bought a property in Le Skyscraper for a whopping $23.5 million.

In 2011, Federer shelled out a huge $30 million for a 5,800 square-meter vacant plot on a scenic slope that overlooked Lake Zurich. The property is located in the lakeside community of Herrliberg, which is also one of the prime real estate locations in the region. However, to date, no construction work has been commenced on that plot of land.

His next property is still under construction. If reports are to be believed, then it will be quite a grand and luxurious building. In 2018, he also bought a supermassive 16,000 square-meter plot in Rapperswil-Jona. It is located in a municipality on the northern end of Lake Zurich. He had to shell out a huge $50 million from his pocket. Reportedly, this luxurious mansion will have amenities like a classroom, sports area, and tennis court.

Besides these houses, Roger owns several luxury cars like Land Rover, Range Rover Sports SVR, and Mercedes Benz EQS. He also owns 5 Mercedes AMGs. Not just cars, but Roger also owns a yacht which the family uses for vacation time.

It won’t be an understatement to say that Roger Federer is no less than a brand today. The tennis superstar’s current net worth is a massive $550 million.

Recently, while giving an interview on the Daily Show by Trevor Noah, Roger recalled how he was not given entry to the Wimbledon Grounds because he was not carrying a pass. He even told the officials that he is a member of the ATP and has won the championship eight times but was still restricted from entering the premises.

It won’t be wrong to say that Roger Federer is the definition of modern-day success. He owes everything to God’s grace and, above all else, to his hard work and showing up every day during the lows and highs of his career arc. Today, he is considered one of the most renowned sportspersons worldwide and can afford a lavish lifestyle for himself and his loved ones. Inside Roger Federer’s £6.5m custom-made glass house with floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning views of Lake Zurich

THERE is no doubt Roger Federer owns one of the most idyllic homes of any sports stars we've ever seen.

The tennis legend, who boasts several properties, has a stunning glass house that cost £6.5million with incredible views of Lake Zurich.

Inside Roger Federer's stunning home overlooking Lake Zurich

The three-storey compound also has two separate apartments for guests - two of which are 38-year-old Fed's parents, Robert and Lynette, who are believed to live with him and his wife, Mirka.

Take a sneak peak inside the eight-time Wimbledon winner's beautiful digs.

WHERE IS IT?

In 2014, Federer, worth over £450million, moved into the home in the tax-haven Wollerau in Schwyz canton.

Roger has always spoken highly of how his parents raised him.

He once revealed they were never pushy, and showed an interest in everything he did - not just tennis.

That made him vow to parent the same way they did with his own children, so perhaps having them close at hand will help show him the way.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Federer: Twelve Final Days’ on Prime Video, a “Home Video” Of The Tennis Great’s Farewell Tour

Where to stream:.

  • Federer: Twelve Final Days

New Movies & Shows To Watch This Weekend: Netflix’s ‘Trigger Warning’+ + More

Stream it or skip it: ‘challengers’ on vod, in which a sporting zendaya anchors a wildly entertaining stylegasm, ‘challengers’ comes to digital, but when will ‘challengers’ be on streaming, ‘challengers’ and ‘past lives’ are engaged in a secret, sexy conversation — thanks to their married screenwriters.

Roger Federer is arguably the greatest male tennis player who ever lived, and walking away from a career like his couldn’t have been easy. Federer: Twelve Final Days , a new feature-length documentary streaming on Prime Video , follows the great through those final moments of on-court glory. Billed as a “home movie never intended for public viewing”, the documentary blends as-it-happens footage with retrospective interviews from the legend and his contemporaries.

FEDERER: TWELVE FINAL DAYS : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

The Gist: The press releases for Federer: Twelve Final Days bills the movie as “a home movie never intended for public viewing”, and whether or not you believe that, it gives you a stylistic sense of what’s coming. It’s a lot of ostensibly-lightly-edited reality-show-style footage as a camera crew follows Federer around, interspersed with interviews from the man himself as well as fellow greats and sometimes-rivals Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray .

What Movies Will It Remind You Of?: It’s hard to talk about a great athlete hanging it up without thinking of The Last Dance , though this doesn’t have the career-spanning focus that that sprawling docuseries did. A closer parallel might be the Conor McGregor doc McGregor Forever , which saw the famous fighter grappling with the potential for his career ending, but even that’s not quite right. More than anything, it reminded me of a book–Geoff Dyer’s The Last Days of Roger Federer , itself a meandering set of meditations on endings that came out a few months before Federer’s 2022 retirement.

Performance Worth Watching: It’s hard to imagine you’d be watching anyone other than Roger Federer, but the presence of his few true peers–Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and most importantly, Rafael Nadal–is the best part of Federer: Twelve Final Days .

Memorable Dialogue: There’s lots to choose from, but the most jarring and memorable might be right at the beginning, when Federer introduces himself to the camera saying that “I’m Roger Federer and I was a professional tennis player for over 24 years.” It’s that was–it still doesn’t sound right, even now, nearly two years after he hung up his “is”. He elaborates: “Sometimes, we players don’t like that ‘retirement’ word, it feels so much like the end of everything… the line is drawn, you’re a completely different person and every day’s going to be different… and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to be like that.”

Sex and Skin: None. Did you come to this looking for it? That’s on you, friend.

Our Take: In his 2018 stand-up special Kid Gorgeous at Radio City , comedian John Mulaney goes on an extended riff about meeting Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger backstage at Saturday Night Live .

“My friends were all like ‘is he nice?’ No! Or, maybe he is, for his version of life. Because he has a very different life. He’s Mick Jagger. That’s his name! He’s played to stadiums of 20,000 people cheering for him like he’s a god for fifty years. That must change you as a person. If you do that for fifty years, you’re never again going to be like, ‘um, does anyone have a laptop charger I can borrow?”

Yes, I’m off-topic here, but I couldn’t help but think of this bit when watching Federer: Twelve Final Days , a documentary film purporting to be a “home movie” that wasn’t originally intended for public release. I find it hard to believe that an athlete who’s been in an echelon of success and fame that maybe–generously–a dozen other people have reached in a generation would do anything that isn’t carefully stage-managed and crafted for public consumption.

(Off the top of my head: Serena Williams, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, LeBron James… I dunno, it gets tough after that?)

This sense that we’re not really seeing the real Roger Federer plays out in an early scene where he’s preparing to publicly announce his retirement. It’s a moment that the sports world had speculated on for more than a decade, and it’s something that could play as terrific drama, but it quickly devolves into unnecessary name-dropping, with a member of Federer’s team fielding a phone call from “his biggest fan,” legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour. It feels forced, but then–like Mulaney’s bit–maybe it is real for his version of life. Watching it, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being put on like an episode of House Hunters , where a couple is forced to pretend they didn’t buy the house they’re ‘looking at’ months ago.

This isn’t to say that Federer: Twelve Final Days is without merit. For one thing, it’s mercifully light on career retrospective. Too many athlete-focused documentaries–and there are a lot these days–feel the need to go through the whole Batman-origin-story arc each time. We don’t need a bunch of footage of a teenage Federer talking about what it was like growing up in Switzerland dreaming of playing tennis; this is a movie that came to talk about the end of his career, and it largely sticks to that assignment. This limited focus gives the proceedings a pace that wanders from elegiac at best to funereal at worst, but it doesn’t demean the viewer by turning into a Wikipedia entry on his career.

Counterintuitively, the moments that feel the most like we’re seeing the real Roger Federer are the ones that are the most likely to have been stage-managed by multiple teams of PR professionals. Those are the moments when he interacts with the few people who could be reasonably described as his “peers,” fellow tennis greats Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, and the man to whom he was most often compared during his career, rival Rafael Nadal. These moments–as planned as they might be–come the closest to offering a window into a version of life that’s never going to seem normal if you haven’t lived it.

Our Call: SKIP IT. If you’re a big Federer fan, Federer: Twelve Final Days is surely going to get you sentimental and maybe even entertain you, but it’s not going to give the long-awaited window into the man’s soul that you might’ve hoped for.

‘Federer: Twelve Final Days’ Review: Roger, Over and Out

A new documentary follows the Swiss tennis star from his 2022 retirement announcement to his final match.

  • Share full article

Roger Federer, wearing a blue shirt and white sweat bands, pumps his fist on a tennis court.

By Amy Nicholson

Roger Federer retired from tennis at 41 having achieved everything there was to conquer: 20 Grand Slam titles and a reputation so sterling that his home country of Switzerland minted his face on a coin. (He was even once voted the second most admired person in the world after Nelson Mandela.) “Federer: Twelve Final Days,” a polite documentary by Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, follows the living legend throughout September 2022, from his goodbye announcement to his last professional match. The camera stays at a respectful distance as Federer exits private planes and cars and navigates news conferences where, as every sports fan knows, candid feelings are as rare as talent like his.

Federer’s gravity-flouting litheness has always made a striking contrast against his grounded disposition. In his farewell match, playing doubles alongside longtime rival Rafael Nadal, his expressed hope is simply to “to produce something that’s good enough.” Federer describes himself as an emotional guy, but with the international press and his management team nearly always on the sidelines, there’s little privacy to get personal. One of the more vulnerable moments the film manages to capture comes when Federer wears the wrong dress shirt to a photo call.

To deliver sentiment, the film instead relies on a score that sniffles as though a racehorse is being taken out to get shot. Yet, athletes do witness their own wakes. Flickers of spliced-in footage from Federer’s youth eulogize the grace that will forever outshine his four brutal knee surgeries. When he flubs a shot at his last match, the spectators look funereal — and the colleagues in attendance, from Björn Borg to Novak Djokovic, appear to recognize that this tragedy, this mass bereavement for an aging superhuman, has happened to them. Or it will.

Federer: Twelve Final Days Rated R for language. Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes. Watch on Prime Video.

Shemar Moore Says He’s Open to Having More Children — But He’s Already ‘Got a Full House’ (Exclusive)

The 'S.W.A.T.' actor shares a daughter with model and actress Jesiree Dizon

Shemar Moore says the possibility of having more children is up in the air.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the S.W.A.T. actor, 54, opens up about potentially having more kids in the future. He is currently a dad to 1-year-old daughter Frankie with girlfriend Jesiree Dizon .

“Possibly. But I ain’t no Spring Chicken and Ms. Thing [Dizon], she’s already got two wonderful kids — her son, Kayden, who’s 17, and her little daughter Charlie, who’s 6 — and they’re sweethearts,” Moore says. “And then we got little Frankie . We got our dog, Tyson. So we got a full house.”

Jesiree Dizon/Instagram

“I was raised an only child, so I’m all about. I’m not going to live forever,” Moore adds. “And let’s say I make it to 90, that puts Frankie at 37. So I’d rather give her 37 years of all of me, than worry twice and split that up.”

The actor, who won a Daytime Emmy in 2000 for his role as Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless , welcomed daughter Frankie with Dizon in January 2023.

He shared similar sentiments about welcoming more children earlier this year on The Jennifer Hudson Show .

“Right now, I’m enjoying what I got," Moore said, after host Jennifer Hudson asked him, “[Are] there any more [babies] in the works?”

Shemar Moore/instagram

Being new to fatherhood, Moore said on the talk show that he relies on Dizon when it comes to parenting.

“Thank goodness for that because I just follow her lead in mommy-hood and fatherhood and all that,” he said. “So I’m baby-stepping, just trying to figure it all out.”

With Frankie, Moore has been quite the proud papa. The actor told PEOPLE in April that his daughter is his “little miracle,” and he always looks forward to spending time with her when not working on set.

“She’s walking!” Moore said. “She waited for me to get off of work. I get the announcement that S.W.A.T. is coming back for season 8 and 22 episodes and literally the next day, she walked 10 steps. Now she’s waddling all over the house.”

Wimbledon 2024: What does the next generation of men's tennis look like?

AFTER FOUR HOURS and 42 minutes of battle, Carlos Alcaraz fell to the grass and rolled over in celebration as the crowd roared. He had just done the previously unthinkable. He'd handed Novak Djokovic his first loss at Wimbledon since 2017 and won his second major title in the process. His combination of joy and disbelief was palpable.

Alcaraz had dreamed about beating Djokovic on Centre Court at the tournament since he first picked up a racket as a young boy. Now, it had come true.

Djokovic had been in search of his record-tying 24th major title and his eighth at Wimbledon, and he had been the heavy favorite to win the tournament. He appeared dazed as he slowly made his way to the net to congratulate Alcaraz, 16 years his junior and now a legitimate rival and serious obstacle in Djokovic's quest for history.

It didn't take long for the latest speculation about a changing of the guard in men's tennis to begin. While Alcaraz didn't add further fuel to that narrative during his news conference soon after, he did acknowledge the significance of what he had achieved for himself and his peers.

"It's great for the new generation as well, I think, to see me beating him and making them think that they are capable to do it as well," Alcaraz said after the match. "It's great for me and I think for [all] the young players."

But while others might have thought Djokovic's time at the top was nearing its end, Djokovic had other plans. He earned his 24th major title at the US Open less than two months later. Having won three of the season's major titles and the year-end ATP Finals, he ended the season at No. 1 and publicly stated his goal to win the "Golden Slam" (all four major titles and Olympic gold) in 2024.

Halfway through the 2024 season, the 37-year-old Djokovic is nowhere near where he wanted to be. Never mind majors -- Djokovic has yet to win a title at any level this year, or even play in a final.

He lost in the semifinals at the Australian Open to Jannik Sinner and withdrew ahead of the quarterfinals at the French Open because of a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. He underwent surgery on June 6, leaving considerable doubt about his ability to play at Wimbledon, but he has been on the grounds practicing throughout the week. He told the BBC on Monday he would play only if he believed he had a chance to "fight for the title."

While it's looking increasingly like Djokovic will play, he is not the favorite to win the title at the All England Club. Combined with the absence of Rafael Nadal , the 22-time major champion who has indicated this could be his final season on tour, and the 2022 retirement of Roger Federer , it seems the guard finally might be changing -- for real this time -- atop men's tennis. The stars of tomorrow are now very much the present, and a handful of players could contend at any given tournament.

"This is such an exciting time [for men's tennis]," Brad Gilbert, the current coach of Coco Gauff and former coach of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick , told ESPN earlier this month.

"[The French Open] was one of the first ones where I didn't have a lock pick, and it feels like things are going that way. Before it always was Joker at Wimbledon, but now, take the field. Same at the Australian Open. Or Nadal at the French Open, but now, good luck, take the field. These guys were a casino before and the house always wins. That's what it was like in a lot of these Slams. ... But [in Paris] there wasn't an overwhelming favorite by any means, and maybe that's the way things are headed."

IF DJOKOVIC WITHDRAWS ahead of play getting underway on Monday, this will mark the first main draw at Wimbledon without a member of the Big Three (Djokovic, Nadal and Federer) since 1998. And the trio didn't just play at Wimbledon; they collectively dominated.

In fact, last year, Alcaraz became just the second player outside of the three to win the men's title at the event since 2002, joining Andy Murray . The 37-year-old Murray, a three-time major champion with two victories at Wimbledon and arguably the fourth-best player of the past two decades, is waiting until the "very last moment " to decide whether he will be playing in the event because of a recent procedure on his back.

But whether Djokovic (or Murray) plays this fortnight, the 21-year-old Alcaraz and 22-year-old Sinner are considered to have the best chances to win the title. ESPN BET had Alcaraz and Sinner tied with the top odds (+165) as of Thursday. Djokovic was a distant third (+385).

"I'm trying to think if [Djokovic] was 100% healthy what the odds would be, because right now you've got Alcaraz and Sinner as heavy favorites," Patrick McEnroe, retired player and current commentator, said on a media call this week. "Then there's a big drop-off with Novak as the third guy. ... Now I have to say that the idea of him playing Wimbledon, if there's one place where he could pull it off with this injury, having had this injury, maybe he could do it. ... [But] I would still lean towards the two younger guys. I think they've both gotten over the hump as far as winning majors."

Starting with Federer's first Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon in 2003 until the end of the 2023 season, the Big Three had collected 66 of 81 major titles. For many years, they were predominantly battling against one another in the finals, but over the past few years, Djokovic and Nadal have had to hold off a slew of rising stars in Slam finals, including Daniil Medvedev , Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud .

Dominic Thiem was the first male player born in the 1990s to win a major at the 2020 US Open, but even that came with an asterisk as none of Djokovic, Nadal or Federer had chosen to participate in the tournament because of the pandemic. Medvedev became the first of the "Next Gen" to defeat a member of the Big Three in a Slam final the following year at the US Open. Djokovic had been in search of his first calendar-year Grand Slam, which requires winning all four majors in the same year, before Medvedev played spoiler in three anticlimactic sets.

While saying he was nowhere near done, Djokovic also saw the writing on the wall.

"The new generation, if you want to call them this, is not anyone new," Djokovic said after the loss. "It's already current, established. Of course, they are going to take over."

Since then, Medvedev, 28, has been unable to win another major but has played in three Slam finals and won seven ATP titles. It is Alcaraz and Sinner who have looked best poised to bring Djokovic's prediction to fruition.

Alcaraz has won three majors, including at the French Open earlier this month, and Sinner earned his first at the Australian Open in January. Both have been dominant at tournaments of all levels this season.

Alcaraz, currently ranked No. 3, won six titles in 2023 and earned his second trophy at Indian Wells this season. Sinner, who took over the world No. 1 ranking from Djokovic for the first time on June 10, has won eight titles since the start of the 2023 season, including in Melbourne, the Masters 1000-level Miami Open in March and his first on grass at Halle just last week.

The budding (and friendly) rivalry between the two has also become must-watch viewing as both seem to continuously raise their level to match the other. Alcaraz holds a 5-4 career edge, including a win in their most recent meeting in the French Open semifinals -- a 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 epic clash lasting over four hours. Both seem to recognize how good their rivalry is for themselves and for the sport as it looks to move on from the Big Three.

"[Sinner] probably is one of the most difficult challenges that we can face in tennis right now. I think he's the best player in the world," Alcaraz said before their match in Paris. "The matches that we've played before have been unbelievable games, I think everybody wants to watch this match. ... Let's see how it's going to be, but I think it's going to be great for tennis and for the fans."

The two could potentially meet in the semifinals at the All England Club. Djokovic is on the other side of the draw and would only play either of them in the final.

But there are several players who have stepped up this season and shown they too are capable of winning the biggest titles. In five Masters 1000-level tournaments this season, the most prestigious events behind the Slams and the ATP Finals, there have been five different winners. In addition to Alcaraz and Sinner, Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev have all been victorious. They too could win at Wimbledon or elsewhere.

The depth of talent and those with potential to win doesn't stop there. Medvedev, still primarily known for his hard-court prowess, reached the semifinals at the tournament last year. He could build on his experience and momentum, especially against a field of largely green players on the surface. Medvedev will be among the favorites in New York as well.

Hubert Hurkacz , the No. 7 seed who lost to Sinner in the final in Halle, is a former Wimbledon semifinalist and even handed Federer his final loss at the event in 2021. Alex de Minaur has had a breakthrough season that saw him crack the top 10 for the first time and has already included a quarterfinal appearance at the French Open and second career grass-court title earlier this month at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships.

And there are some who could surprise, such as British star Jack Draper , who won his first ATP title at Stuttgart and then defeated Alcaraz at Queen's Club the following week. Or Tommy Paul , the new American No. 1 who earned his first grass title at Queen's Club.

"I absolutely love the way Tommy Paul is playing," McEnroe said. "I actually think that he could be in the semis or final if he believes it."

As the opening round of the main draw at Wimbledon rapidly approaches, there remain many questions about the tournament -- starting with Djokovic's ability to play -- and about men's tennis overall.

Will Djokovic win another major and take sole ownership of the record for the most in tennis history? Will Alcaraz and Sinner officially emerge as a Big Two? Or will they be joined by others regularly contending for major titles? Wimbledon could be perhaps the first real taste of what life in the post-Big Three era will look like.

Of course, even with Djokovic's season so far, and his potential absence at Wimbledon, it doesn't mean his reign at the top is over. Asked about the younger generation and knowing what people were thinking after his semifinal exit in Melbourne, Djokovic told reporters not to count him out just yet.

"I still have high hopes, you know, for other Slams, Olympics, and whatever tournaments that I'll play," Djokovic said. "This tournament hasn't been up to my standard or criteria or the level that I would normally play or expect myself to play, but [it] doesn't necessarily mean that it's [the] beginning of the end, you know, as some people like to call it."

Why should I go?

Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox, is the nation’s oldest major league ballpark. Dedicated fans who show up routinely for games get to see only a bit of what’s been billed as “America’s most beloved ballpark.” But the daily one-hour guided tours give fans a fascinating overview of the history of Fenway and the team that has called it home since 1912, when what was once marshland was transformed into a baseball stadium.

Visitors will learn what makes Fenway unique—like the fact that it boasts baseball’s oldest manual scoreboard—and can view the lone red seat in section 42 of the right field bleachers commemorating Ted Williams’ 502-foot home run in 1946.

You’ll also get to decide for yourself which section of the ballpark offers the best views. Take a rest in the grand slam seats, or in the park’s famous Green Monster seats, located just above the highest wall in baseball, at 37 feet, 2 inches.

Guests also get an exclusive walk-through of the ballpark’s press box, and a chance to view some of the stadium’s collection of more than 170,000 stadium artifacts and 150,000 photographs. Tour guides will recount highlights of the Red Sox’s 1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018 World Series wins.

It’s the perfect way to celebrate an iconic Boston landmark while learning more about some of baseball’s greatest legends.

My Boston course, AN 309, takes us through Fenway and makes us fans of the park even more than fans of the Sox. Spring 2023!

My husband and did the Fenway Park tour in April and it was outstanding. Our tour guide was funny, engaging of her audience and extremely knowledgeable of everything from basic history to amazing trivia. It lasted close to 2 1/2 hours, though it was only supposed to be an hour or so. Highly recommend!

As a kid I lived on a farm that had an ancient outhouse. It was about as comfortable as Fenway Park.

'Federer: Twelve Final Days': A teary end to a tennis legend's last court appearance

An emotional Roger Federer, left, of Team Europe sits alongside Rafael Nadal after their Laver Cup doubles match against Team World.

Roger Federer fans, get your tissues ready… the Amazon produced documentary on the run-up to the tennis maestro's final event is a bit of a tear-jerker.

Federer: Twelve Final Days  hit our television screens this week, giving tennis fans across the globe another opportunity to reflect on the career of arguably one of the sport’s most cherished and greatest ever players.

The nearly 90-minute-long documentary, directed by Academy Award-winning Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, follows the Swiss Maestro over a 12-day period, from his retirement announcement to his final professional appearance on court at the 2022 Laver Cup in London.

At 41 years old, Federer decided to hang up his racket following a knee injury that required three operations. It ended a stellar 25-year career, which saw him win 20 Grand Slam titles, 103 ATP tour titles and earn sporting superstar status.

He chose to say goodbye to his fans by playing at the fifth edition of the Laver Cup, a Ryder Cup-style invitational tournament that pits Team Europe against Team World.

While there is no real dramatic sporting climax to the documentary per se, it is a moving account of the player’s decision to call it a day and his final outing on court alongside long-term rivals and, for this occasion, teammates Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray.

A tennis bromance

As well as showing intimate moments with his family and behind-the-scenes footage of Federer negotiating his way through the final moments as a professional athlete, the documentary shines a spotlight on his close relationship with his great rival and friend Nadal.

Federer's losing doubles match with Nadal marked the end of an illustrious career that included 20 Grand Slam titles and a role as a statesman for tennis.

This was on full display in the second half of the documentary, especially in the build-up to and in the immediate aftermath of his tennis swan song at the O2 arena, where the two tennis icons teamed up for a doubles match.

  • Padel: How the world's fastest growing racket sport is gaining traction in Europe

Federer is renowned for his elegant and graceful playing style as well as his classy demeanor both on and off the court, but he has also been known to get quite emotional on occasion at the end of matches.

So, to no great surprise, the documentary zeros in on Federer as tears cascade down his face and Nadal openly weeps to his side.

The realisation of Swiss’ impending departure from the game hits hard.

In the film, a tearful Federer admits his relationship with the Spaniard is “very unique” and that “getting along so well and having respect for one another is definitely special, to say the least.”

Over the years, Federer and Nadal have put each other through their paces with iconic battles, thrilling tennis fans around the world. The King of Clay confessed he would greatly miss their on-court rivalry, saying in one scene, “The feeling before a Grand Slam final against Roger, it’s different—a different atmosphere, a different kind of pressure. To know that I will not have this feeling for the rest of my life, it’s something that… it’s painful.”

He added, “Even if we had a great rivalry on court, we were able to have a very good friendship outside. And this is something very difficult to find in this very competitive world.”

Djokovic: The party crasher

Team Europe's Novak Djokovic, right, listens to Roger Federer during a match against Team World's Frances Tiafoe.

One insightful moment of the film came when Federer admitted that he wasn’t fully convinced of a young Djokovic’s ability to challenge at the top, saying he had “technical flaws” in his forehand and backhand.

“But then he ironed those things out super well, and he became an unbelievable monster of a player,” said Federer.

He added that the controversial Serbian became the “party crasher of the Rafa-Roger fans.”

This triumvirate of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic dominated men's tennis for well over a decade, collectively winning 63 Grand Slam titles up to Federer’s retirement in 2022. Their rivalry has been one of the most compelling narratives in the history of tennis.

Both Djokovic and Nadal eventually took advantage of Federer’s injury-hit final two seasons to surpass the Swiss legend on the Grand Slam all-time winner’s list, with Djokovic topping the charts at 24… consider the party well and truly crashed.

As a tennis fan, watching this documentary inevitably stirs feelings of nostalgia. Despite Federer having retired only two years ago, his influence in leading what is arguably the most sensational and captivating era in the history of men's tennis is unmistakable, and this emotional documentary succeeds in making you want to go back and revisit the maestro's matches, again. And again.
