A View from the Top of the World is the fifteenth studio album by Dream Theater . The album was first teased on July 10th, 2021, before being announced on July 28th, 2021, alongside a North American tour with Arch Echo . It was released on October 22, 2021.
The Alien was the first single that was released on August 13th 2021. A month later, Invisible Monster was released as the 2nd single on September 22nd 2021. A music video for Awaken the Master was released on October 25th 2021, three days after the album was released. And more music videos followed, such as for Transcending Time was released on January 26, 2022, and Answering the Call on June 15th, 2023
This was Dream Theater's final album recorded with Mike Mangini on drums, as original drummer Mike Portnoy rejoined the band in October 2023.

- This album is the first to have a track over 10 minutes long, but under 15 minutes since A Dramatic Turn of Events , released in 2011. That album had Lost Not Forgotten , Bridges in the Sky , Outcry , and Breaking All Illusions , clocking in at 10:11, 11:01, 11:24, and 12:25 long, respectively.
- This album is the first to have a track over 20 minutes long since the self-titled album , released in 2013. That album contained the track Illumination Theory , which was listed at 22:17 long (and is actually 19:15 long, with a hidden piece of music after about 30 seconds of silence).
- This is the first album since Black Clouds & Silver Linings to have fewer than nine tracks.
- This album is the first to have a proper title track since Octavarium , released back in 2005. Astonishing could possibly be considered a title track as well.)
- This album has the longest title of any Dream Theater album.
- This is the first Dream Theater album to be recorded at the band's new purpose-built recording studio, DTHQ.
- This is the first Dream Theater album to incorporate 8-string guitars.
- "What makes this a challenge to play for me would be that it's a 20-minute epic, so the memorization aspect is the first part of the challenge. And then there are certain sections that I have to focus on. For instance, there is a classical Mozart-like section that happens in the second half of the song. It's the type of part that definitely takes a bit of practice, when taken out of context it turns into a cool little exercise all by itself."

Dream Theater announce Top Of The World US tour dates for 2022
Following the recent success of their 15th studio album A View From The Top Of The World, two-time GRAMMY-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater are announcing the rescheduled dates for the recently-postponed Top Of The World Tour.
The dates will now kick off in Mesa, AZ on February 2nd and run 7 weeks before ending in Austin, TX on March 21st. The tour will also make stops in Los Angeles, CA; Quebec, QC; New York, NY and Dallas, TX among others and will mark the first live performances of music from the band’s latest release A View From The Top Of The World. Arch Echo will be the opener on all dates in the United States and Falset will be the opener on all of the dates in Canada. Information on tickets for all upcoming shows as well as VIP packages can be found at www.dreamtheater.net .

Dream Theater kicked off their Top of the World Tour in Tel Aviv Israel on January 14. The progressive metal band's last documented show took place on September 10 at Quinta Vergara in Viña del Mar, Chile (see the setlist here ). The current European and UK trek is in support of their fifteenth studio album A View From The Top Of The World which was released in 2021.
Dream Theater's 12-song setlist included a slew of live rarities. "Caught in a Web" from 1994's Awake, "Solitary Shell" from 2002's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence , "About to Crash (Reprise)" and "Losing Time/Grand" were added to the set for the first time in years. The kickoff featured live debuts of "Sleeping Giant" and "Answering the Call" from their newest record A View from the Top of the World.
