Rotational Dining

One of the most unique dining aspects of a Disney Cruise is its rotational dining. Each night, your party rotates between three main restaurants on board, and your wait staff rotates with you. This allows you to try all that Disney has to offer while at the same time giving your waiters the opportunity to serve you better as they get to know you!

1923 (Disney Wish) – Step back in time and experience classic Hollywood glamour with a touch of Disney magic. This dining destination pays homage to the year when the legendary animation studio was founded in Southern California. With two stunning dining rooms named after the brothers who started it all – Walt and Roy, 1923 is a feast for the senses. Admire drawings, props, and other animation tools that depict the evolution of Disney animation from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Frozen II.

Animator’s Palate (Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) – This is definitely one of the most unique dining experiences onboard, and you can find it on four Disney cruise ships. Offering Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking, and fresh California fare, Disney animation comes to life throughout your meal.

Lumiere’s (Disney Magic) – This Main Dining restaurant found only on the Disney Magic serves American cuisine for breakfast and lunch and contemporary French fare for dinner.

Rapunzel’s Royal Table (Disney Magic) – This restaurant is only available on the Disney Magic and currently serves dinner on Disney’s rotational dining. It serves American favorites as well as flavors from around the world. And did I mention there is also live entertainment and character appearances?

Royal Court (Disney Fantasy) – This restaurant, serving French-inspired, continental fare, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on board the Disney Fantasy, and its decor is inspired by several different Disney fairy tales.

Dining on Disney Cruise Line | Magic in the Planning

Royal Palace (Disney Dream) – This restaurant is very similar to the Royal Court on the Disney Fantasy. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it serves French-inspired, continental fare, and is inspired by Disney royalty.

Types of Dining Experiences on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Food - Roast Duck breast and leg on a plate with a dark sauce

A Disney cruise offers a variety of dining options to suit every taste, from gourmet foodies to fussy eaters. Here are the main types of dining experiences you’ll encounter on a Disney cruise.

Rotational Dining on Disney Cruises

Disney Cruise Line’s Rotational Dining introduces a novel approach to dining, blending variety with familiarity. My wife and I are big fans of this system, as it brings a delightful element of surprise to our meals.

In the Rotational Dining system, you’ll visit three main dining restaurants during your cruise, changing the venue each night . This rotation lets you appreciate the unique ambiance, theme, and menu of each restaurant, ensuring that you experience them all.

You don’t need to make a reservation for the nightly dinner service — you simply pick a dining time when you book your cruise. You’ll select either early/main dining (usually around 5:45 PM), or late/second dining (typically around 8:00 PM). As you board the ship, you’ll receive a dining rotation that shows which restaurant you’re assigned to for each night of the cruise.

One of the standout features of this system is the consistent service. Your serving team travels with you from restaurant to restaurant, quickly becoming familiar with your personal preferences, dietary requirements, and even your favorite dessert, leading to a truly personalized dining experience.

Here’s a glimpse into the dining rotation on each ship:

  • On Disney Magic , the rotation includes Lumiere’s, Animator’s Palate, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table.
  • The Disney Wonder features Triton’s, Animator’s Palate, and Tiana’s Place.
  • On Disney Dream , you’ll experience Royal Palace, Animator’s Palate, and Enchanted Garden.
  • Disney Fantasy also includes Royal Court and Animator’s Palate but with the Enchanted Garden as the third venue.
  • And finally, Disney Wish introduces Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923.

Disney Cruise Food - Prime Rib on a plate with potatoes and vegetables

Every meal becomes a highlight of the day, bringing the excitement of a new setting combined with the comfort of familiar faces in our serving team. For my wife and I, the variety offered by Rotational Dining transforms each meal into its own unique adventure.

Buffet Dining

Disney Cruise Line’s buffet dining options, like Cabanas on four Disney ships and the new Marceline Market on Disney Wish, offer a casual, diverse culinary experience. Both buffet venues feature an extensive selection of dishes for breakfast and lunch in a free-flowing dining environment, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of dishes at their leisure.

At Cabanas , guests can start their day with a classic American breakfast featuring made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs, sausages, and Mickey-shaped waffles. Lunch transitions into contemporary favorites like salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, steak, chicken, seafood, and pizza. Vegetarian options and a kid-friendly menu are also available.

Cabanas’ décor is designed to evoke the relaxed ambiance of a beach boardwalk, complete with sweeping sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows and on an outdoor patio. The nautical-themed setting is enhanced with a stunning 30-foot-long mosaic depicting a scene from Pixar’s Finding Nemo.

Disney Wish enhances the buffet experience with Marceline Market , a unique venue housing a series of themed food stations. Inspired by international marketplaces, the restaurant offers a wide range of international dishes, including Italian staples, Asian specialties, comfort food, and seafood specialties.

Dining at the buffet is included in your Disney cruise fare and offers flexibility to suit every schedule. However, because operating hours and offerings vary from day to day, please check the daily schedule.

Specialty Dining

Disney Cruise Line’s specialty dining options are perfect for guests seeking an upscale, intimate culinary experience. These adult-exclusive venues – Palo, Remy, and Enchanté – do require an extra fee and reservations, but they provide an unforgettable culinary experience.

  • Palo , available across all ships, offers Northern Italian cuisine in a sophisticated setting. The menu features a wide range of antipasti, handcrafted pasta, seafood, and delectable desserts, paired with a comprehensive wine list. Palo is my personal favorite, consistently impressing me with its atmosphere and cuisine. On the Disney Wish, Palo is enhanced as Palo Steakhouse , offering not only Italian favorites but also prime beef choices such as Australian wagyu and Japanese Kobe/Miyazaki.
  • Remy – found on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy – delivers a superb French menu inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille. My wife, Jaimie, is a huge fan of Remy — the impeccable service, the menu bursting with flavors, and the overall culinary experience are exceptional.
  • On the Disney Wish, Enchanté takes luxury dining up a notch. The adults-only spot serves incredible food in a stunning setting with a menu designed by a three-Michelin-starred chef.

Palo Steakhouse – Disney Wish

The specialty dining venues on Disney cruises offer a peaceful, adult-only escape amidst the bustling cruise activities. They provide an opportunity for a relaxed, romantic meal. Exceptional service, thoughtful theming, and gourmet cuisine set these dining experiences apart on any Disney cruise. Speaking from personal experience, my wife and I believe these extraordinary moments justify the additional expense and the need to dress up just a bit.

On the Disney Magic, you’ll find the Duck-In Diner serving up delicious meals poolside. Pinocchio’s Pizzeria, a beloved feature on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, delivers hot, fresh pizza throughout the day. On the Disney Wish, the Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods offers a selection of quick bites.

Quick-service dining is included in your Disney cruise fare, ensuring a wide selection of options for everyone in your party at no additional cost.

Character Dining Experiences

One of the unique aspects of a Disney cruise is the opportunity to dine with beloved Disney characters . These special dining events provide magical moments for kids and kids-at-heart alike.

Some of the main dining rooms offer some character interaction during dinner. For example, Louie makes appearances at Tiana’s Place on the Disney Wonder, and the Frozen dining experience on Disney Wish features all the primary characters from the films.

Arendelle Dining

Arendelle – a Frozen Dining Adventure, onboard the Disney Wish

Character breakfasts may be offered on cruises of seven nights or longer and offer the chance to pose for photos and get autographs from characters dressed in the cruise attire . It’s the perfect way to kick off your cruise day and one of the many reasons why Disney Cruise Line enjoys a reputation as the best cruise line for kids .

Additionally, the Royal Court Royal Tea Party (available for an additional fee on all ships except the Disney Wish) is a grand affair where young guests are treated like royalty . Accompanied by select Disney Princesses, guests enjoy tea, sandwiches, and pastries, along with storytelling and song performances.

The Vacationeer can provide more information about these special dining experiences.

Themed Dining Events

Disney Cruise Line takes themed dining to a whole new level with their unique dining events. These include Pirate Night , a swashbuckling celebration featuring a special menu and a grand deck party, and Frozen-themed dining on select sailings, where guests can savor Nordic-inspired dishes while interacting with beloved characters from the film.

On Marvel Day at Sea and Pixar Day at Sea sailings, guests can enjoy special themed menus inspired by their favorite movies. These dining events, complete with character appearances and entertainment, add another layer of magic to the Disney cruise experience.

In addition to meals, Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of snacks throughout the day. You can satisfy any mid-day or late-night craving with a variety of sweets and savory options.

One popular spot for a sweet treat is Eye Scream Treats , a self-service frozen dessert station where you can enjoy a (free!) swirled cone of soft-serve ice cream in various flavors. For those desiring a pastry or a caffeine kick, the adults-only Cove Café provides specialty coffees and assorted pastries.

Guests aboard Disney Dream can visit Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , offering a delightful mix of candies, gelato, and baked goods inspired by the Wreck-It Ralph movies. On the Disney Fantasy, Sweet on You caters to guests’ sweet tooth with its handcrafted gelato, ice cream, chocolates, and an extensive selection of candies.

These snack locations are perfect for moments when a small treat is just what’s needed to satiate a sweet tooth or tide you over until the next meal. It’s important to note that while many snack options are included in your cruise fare, some items, particularly those from Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats and Sweet on You, carry an additional charge.

Room Service

Disney Cruise Line offers 24-hour complimentary room service , allowing guests to enjoy a meal or snack in the comfort of their stateroom. The room service menu features a variety of options, including sandwiches, salads, burgers, desserts, and a selection of beverages. Be sure to try the  All Hands On Deck cheese/cracker/fruit plate — it’s a repeat cruiser favorite!

You will need to pay a bit extra if you want canned sodas, specialty drinks, or prepackaged candies.

Whether you’re craving a midnight snack or prefer breakfast in bed, Disney’s room service has you covered. However, note that while the food is complimentary, gratuities for the delivery personnel are customary and not included in your cruise fare.

Lounges and Bars

Disney Cruise Line boasts a diverse range of bars and lounges catering to various moods and occasions. From refined champagne bars to dynamic sports pubs and relaxing pool bars, there’s an ideal spot for everyone.

Certain venues like Crown and Fin and O’Gills not only offer an extensive beverage selection but also provide light snacks or small-plate food options, enhancing your night out.

For those favoring an alfresco experience, pool deck bars such as Currents and Waves are perfect for a cocktail or cold beer paired with a selection of snacks.

Pink Wine & Champagne Bar (Disney Dream)

Each Disney ship hosts a unique nightlife district, offering themed bars and lounges. For example, the Europa district on Disney Fantasy, with its European-inspired venues, offers a variety of specialty drinks and bite-sized foods.

Disney Cruise Line’s bars and lounges extend beyond relaxation and socialization; they deliver a culinary adventure with finely crafted drinks and delightful snacks amidst a magical Disney setting. Note that while many drink options are included in your cruise fare, some specialty beverages and foods may incur additional charges.

Food at Disney Cruise Line Destinations: A Tasting Tour

Disney Cruise Food - Scallops seared and served with orzo and vegetables

Disney Cruise Line’s itineraries do more than just transport guests to some of the world’s most captivating and scenic destinations; they also offer a passport to discover unique flavors and culinary traditions from across the globe. As a result of the diverse food options available at these destinations, dining becomes an adventure, allowing guests to experience local culture through their food.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, is a tropical paradise with great food as well. Included in your cruise fare are meals at two island dining venues, Cookie’s BBQ and Cookie’s Too BBQ , which serve a mouthwatering spread of BBQ ribs, burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, fresh salads, and soft-serve ice cream.

Disney Cruise Food - Cookie's BBQ entrance, showing plates stacked high and customers entering

Adults searching for a serene and relaxed dining environment can head over to Serenity Bay BBQ . This adults-only location provides the same tantalizing menu in a tranquil setting. It’s a location my wife, Jaimie, and I particularly enjoy.

Should you wish to indulge a bit more, various island bars serve a selection of tropical cocktails and beer for an additional fee.

Whether you’re savoring your meal with your toes in the sand or enjoying a fruity drink at the adults-only Serenity Bay, Castaway Cay offers a delicious taste of the tropics. See our Castaway Cay Tips page for more information.

Caribbean itineraries offer a chance to taste a medley of cuisines influenced by African, European, and Amerindian traditions. Local food vendors at various ports of call might serve up dishes like jerk chicken in Jamaica, roti in Barbados, or conch fritters in the Bahamas. If your itinerary includes a stop in Mexico, take advantage of the chance to savor authentic tacos or enchiladas.

Mediterranean

Disney’s European cruises introduce guests to a wide range of culinary traditions, especially in the Mediterranean. In Italy, you might enjoy a classic pasta dish or a slice of authentic Neapolitan pizza. In Greece, sample the traditional moussaka or a gyro filled with succulent meat and fresh tzatziki. If your cruise stops in Spain, don’t miss the chance to try paella or tapas.

Other Food Experiences on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line also offers Port Adventures in many locations that include food tastings or cooking demonstrations, allowing guests the opportunity to learn more about the local cuisine and culture.

While dining onboard Disney Cruise Line is an experience to remember, the culinary adventures continue at each unique port of call. From local restaurants and food stalls to Disney’s very own Castaway Cay and forthcoming Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , there’s a world of flavors waiting to be discovered on your Disney Cruise Line journey.

Disney Dream Cruise Ship Dining Options

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Samantha Chapnick/Flickr/CC BY 2.0

The Disney Dream offers multiple dining venues : three main restaurants, two adults-only specialty restaurants, and several casual dining options.

Main Dining Rooms

Disney Cruise Line continues its innovative rotational dining concept at two dinner seatings on the Disney Dream with themed restaurants and distinctly Disney touches. Throughout the cruise, guests "rotate" through three different restaurants for dinner—with their servers accompanying them and providing guests with friendly, familiar, and personalized service each night. The rotational dining restaurants include:

  • Animator's Palate is a signature Disney Cruise Line restaurant that brings the magic of Disney animation into a unique family dining experience. Inspired by classic animator's studios, the venue is filled with character sketches, maquettes (three-dimensional character models), paintbrushes, colored pencils, computer workstations, film strips, and other tools of the animation trade. The cuisine matches the character of the restaurant, creatively combining fresh flavors with culinary flair to please guests' palates. Wines from California and the Pacific Rim complement the menu. Animator's Palate offers the same interactive dining experience seen on other Disney ships, where guests of all ages get to try their hand at being a Disney animator. The Disney Fantasy, the Disney Dream's younger sister ship, was the first to offer this fun dining event, but it is now seen on all the Disney ships on sailings of seven days or more.
  • Royal Palace , an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films Cinderella , Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty . Décor includes ornate marble floors and luxurious carpets plus a magnificent, hand-blown chandelier made of glass slippers, with essential elements from each fairy tale such as royal crests, roses, and tiaras. Chair backs are embellished with gilded emblems in the same motifs. The custom carpet is a pattern of flourishing roses in regal tones. Grand, hand-painted portraits of the princesses, Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Sleeping Beauty (Aurora), and their princes grace the far wall. The Royal Palace's circular floor plan, fluted columns, and iron railing work are all recreated from the Cinderella ballroom scene. Wall sconces are fashioned after those seen in Beauty and the Beast . At Royal Palace, guests feast on continental cuisine. The menu features dishes fit for a queen (or king), including beef Wellington, crowned rack of lamb, king salmon, and a princess cake. The wine list features an excellent selection of Old World wines. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at this elegant restaurant.
  • Enchanted Garden is a whimsical, casual restaurant inspired by the gardens of Versailles. It features a dining environment that magically transforms from day to night. Upon entering the Enchanted Garden, guests feel as though they've arrived at a lovely conservatory, with white trellises, original artwork depicting lush greenery, and the image of a beautiful blue sky on the ceiling. Custom glass "flower" light fixtures are suspended from the canopy overhead, ornamental light posts line the restaurant's central promenade, and a charming terrace fountain is the focal point of the room. The cascading fountain rises 7 feet tall and at its pinnacle stands a fanciful cherub Mickey Mouse statue. During the meal, the restaurant transforms into an enchanting evening scene. The sky becomes a glorious sunset, with dazzling colors and shades of light that change into a twinkling field of stars. The light-fixture flowers "bloom" and become infused with color, wall sconces open to become beautiful folding fans, paintings are illuminated in a nighttime perspective, and the centerpiece fountain is basked in shimmering light. The cuisine matches the crisp and airy feel of the restaurant with a seasonal menu featuring market-fresh ingredients. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, and dinner is a full-service, plated affair. A scrumptious selection of desserts includes a selection of gelatos during the day and a grand finale chocolate display with infused truffles and hand-made confections at night.

Disney Cruise Line introduced a new concept in casual dining on the Disney Dream with the Cabanas food court, a free-flow restaurant featuring a variety of food and beverage stations. Inspired by California beaches with uniquely Disney touches, Cabanas offers indoor and outdoor dining on Deck 11 aft with incredible ocean views.

Across the beach-themed dining room, tables are sheltered under palm trees and beach umbrellas. Surfboards, sun umbrellas, kites, teak Adirondack chairs, and clam-shell table tops add to the sunny seaside décor.

Disney details also decorate the area, including a familiar flock of seagulls from the Disney•Pixar animated film Finding Nemo . A 30-foot-long, hand-crafted mosaic tile wall depicts a whimsical underwater scene from the film.

Guests can partake in an eclectic array of cuisine served from 16 specialized food stations, each designed like a beach cabana with colorful awnings and providing delicious offerings. Dishes freshly prepared include American classics, comfort foods such as pizza and pasta, grilled specialties, stir-fry, savory soups, and fresh salads. One cabana features a skilled sushi chef preparing bite-sized sushi delicacies, while another station showcases an artful display of decadent desserts to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Each morning, Cabanas features numerous flavorful ways to start the day with assorted breakfast foods and made-to-order omelets. In the evenings, the restaurant transforms into a table-service casual dining experience, where dinner entrees are cooked to order.

Flo's Café

Guests looking for a quick bite to eat can visit Flo's Café , located near the Donald Family Pool on Deck 11. Themed to popular characters from the Disney•Pixar film Cars —Luigi's Pizza, Doc's Grill, and Fillmore's Favorites—this quick-service option serves snacks such as burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, fresh fruit, salads, and sandwich wraps.

Eye Scream, Frozone Treats

Frozen sweet treats are available from two quick-service venues conveniently located near the Donald Family Pool on Deck 11. Frozone Treats —named after the ice-creating superhero in the Disney•Pixar movie The Incredibles —mixes delicious fruit smoothies. Eye Scream Treats —inspired by the friendly, one-eyed monster Mike Wazowski from the Disney•Pixar animated feature Monsters, Inc. —offers soft-serve ice cream with plenty of favorite sundae toppings.

Specialty Dining

Sweeping ocean views, rich décor, and epicurean excellence create the setting for a romantic escape aboard the Disney Dream in Disney Cruise Line's signature specialty restaurant, Palo .

Named after the colorful poles that line the canals of Venice, Palo invites adults to indulge in a menu of delectable Northern Italian cuisine, an extensive wine list, and superior service.

Every seat at Palo offers a beautiful ocean vista, and a pianist softly serenades guests. Stylish furnishings are accompanied by custom art, warm wood tones and a color palette of rich red, green, and gold jewel tones create an intimate, refined, and Italian-inspired décor. It's a wonderful place for adults to escape the (occasional) din of family dining.

On the Disney Dream, guests may dine al fresco on Palo's private outdoor teak deck, with picturesque views and warm ocean breezes further tantalizing the senses.

In addition to romantic dinners, Palo offers an exquisite adults-only champagne brunch featuring made-to-order entrées, seafood, a selection of international cheeses, fresh bread and pastries, desserts, champagne, and mimosas.

Disney Cruises has a second adults-only dining venue on the Disney Dream cruise ship, Remy . This restaurant is Disney's first premier dining experience, featuring gourmet French cuisine designed by two award-winning chefs. Located next to Palo on deck 12, Remy also has spectacular views of the sea.

Remy seats 80 guests and is only open for meals at dinner. Those wanting to sample some of the dinner menu dishes at Remy should reserve space at the Petites Assiettes de Remy.

Cruise travelers with a sweet tooth who love sampling amazing desserts should reserve space at Pompidou's Patisseries Dessert Experience, a sampling of six sweet delicacies. Also served at Remy, this sweet journey is only available on sea days on the Disney Fantasy .

If you're a fan of the Disney•Pixar movie Ratatouille , you will recognize the famous French character, Remy. If you dine in the Chef's Table private dining room in Remy, you will also recognize its design, since it was modeled after the Chez Gusteau restaurant in the movie.

The Disney Dream charges a surcharge for dinner at Remy, and wine pairings are an additional fee per person. Petites Assiettes de Remy also has a surcharge and includes a wine pairing with each course.

Remy has a dress code requiring men to wear a dress jacket, dress pants, and shoes (ties are not required). Women should wear cocktail dresses, evening dresses, pantsuits or dressy skirts, and blouses.

Everything We Know About the Disney Treasure’s Dining Options

by Morgan Flaherty | Aug 9, 2024 | Disney Cruise Line , Disney Cruise Line Food , Disney Treasure

disney cruise ship dining rooms

We’re sharing a complete guide to the restaurants, lounges, and dining experiences that will be available onboard the Disney Treasure when it sets sail in 2024.

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure , will officially be setting sail starting in 2024. The exciting new addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet has a focus on the adventure of Disney storytelling, with different theming elements, entertainment, and more all centered around some of Disney’s most epic tales. That theme interweaves with many of the dining elements that you’ll find onboard the ship, as well. We’re sharing a complete guide to the restaurants, lounges, and dining experience that Disney has revealed so far as coming to the Disney Treasure.

Disney Treasure Bars and Lounges

On board the ship, you’ll be able to enjoy several bars and lounges, including lounges themed to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea  as well as the Jungle Cruise!

Periscope Pub

Guests can dive way down deep under the sea at Periscope Pub, Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the 1954 Walt Disney film  20,000 Leagues Under the Sea . The interior is themed to the Nautilus, which was the fictional submarine belonging to Captain Nemo in the story.

When you visit the Periscope Pub, you’ll find a menu that includes light bites as well as undersea-inspired drinks and craft brews. One of the highlights will be three exclusive tap beers, which will all be themed to the  20,000 Leagues Under the Sea storyline and former theme park attraction. You can look up and see the sea above through a glass ceiling, as well as get a look through “porthole windows” outside. These appear to use video technology, similar to the Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish.

Inside the pub, however, there’s still plenty to see. Throughout the space, you’ll be able to spot artifacts, drawings, and books used by Captain Nemo and his crew aboard the Nautilus. Take a close look at these details, because there’s a hidden secret: A series of numbers sits behind the bar, right on the submarine pressure gauge. These numbers are special because they honor the geographical coordinates of Meyer Werft shipyard (where the Disney Treasure was built) as well as the official hull numbers of each Disney Cruise Line ship in the fleet.

At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event , we also got a first look at costumes for Periscope Pub and Haunted Mansion Parlor. Senior Costume Designer with Disney Live Entertainment, Josh Winchester developed both sets of costumes.

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Photos Courtesy of Disney

For Haunted Mansion, he chose a green pincord vest on top of a purple shirt, reminiscent of the wallpaper from the ride. For the Periscope Pub costumes, he designed them as an elevated take on the crew uniforms from the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The costumes also tie back to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage attraction, with a custom pin that’s inspired by what Magic Kingdom Cast Members for the ride wore.

Haunted Mansion Parlor

Get ready to socialize with your fellow passengers – and some grim grinning ghosts! – in one of the most thrilling spots onboard the Disney Treasure. The Haunted Mansion Parlor, which is themed after the beloved Disney Parks attraction, will be an all-new bar featuring themed cocktails and merchandise.

Like each iteration of the Haunted Mansion within Disney theme parks around the world, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will have its very own backstory. This venue will feature a “jovial captain” who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé. It’s meant to be a truly unique Haunted Mansion experience – Disney has teased that Walt Disney Imagineering is planning “an ever-escalating anthology of illusions” to make the parlor one wholly immersive experience.

Oh, and if you’ve been to Disney theme parks around the world, keep your eyes peeled! You might spot some of your favorite frightening haunts and favorite details from different iterations of the Haunted Mansion from around the world, including iconic characters from both the U.S. and international versions. Learn more about what’ll be inside here !

Skipper Society

Over at the Skipper Society, you can enjoy themed cocktails and light snacks in a lounge inspired by the iconic Jungle Cruise attraction. Some of the items Disney teased included fresh waffles and a smoked drink. We also expect plenty of punny jokes!

When you enter Skipper Society, you’ll find its exterior makes you feel like you’ve stepped aboard one of the Jungle Cruise attraction boats. Imagineers have dubbed the vessel that houses the bar “Ems Empress” to pay homage to the Ems River, which is where the Disney Treasure will make her first voyage to sea. Keep an eye out for an “Ems Empress” sign inside the bar when you stop by on your sailing.

The Skipper Society will feature touches that reference Jungle Cruise , paying homage to the beloved classic attraction. In fact, it’ll include details from both the version at Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park. For example, the Disneyland version of Jungle Cruise features a variety of flora and fauna around the attraction; Skipper Soceity will honor this with plants throughout the space that are the same species as those at Disneyland.

Similarly, you’ll be able to see the iconic red and green architecture of the attraction building at Magic Kingdom Park inside the Skipper Society – just take a look at the walls! They’ll be painted in red and green tones that are exact color matches of the Jungle Cruise attraction marquee inside the theme park.

Don’t forget to look behind the bar! There, you’ll spot a stack of vintage-style suitcases. That luggage features travel stickers that reflect the locations throughout the Jungle Cruise (and yes, there’s one that references the backside of water!). You’ll also want to pay close attention to the background music inside Skipper Society aboard the Disney Treasure. Mixed in with the familiar music, careful listeners will be able to hear Skipper voices from around the world reciting spiels from different iterations of the Jungle Cruise attraction. You’ll hear English, Dutch, French, Cantonese, and more!

Themed after  Beauty and the Beast , The Rose will be a high-end lounge that you can find between Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté, offering a perfect pre-dinner aperitif or after-dinner cocktail.

Disney Treasure Dining Experiences

The Disney Treasure will feature rotational dining, meaning they’ll rotate to a unique dining experience every night. Since the experience of the Disney Treasure is a longer itinerary, there will be two chances to experience each of the entertaining dining experiences.

Unlike the Disney Wish, this will feature a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy dinner show titled, “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix.” The story will follow Groot bringing guests along for an on-screen quest to throw a surprise party for Rocket.

OVERVIEW / PLANNING TOOLS

Disney Cruise Line knows that sharing a tasty meal together is a very important part of a family’s everyday life. On a Disney Cruise Line vacation, guests will experience one of three imaginative restaurants each night (commonly known as Rotational Dining ) accompanied by a dedicated service team that will be assigned to their families throughout the voyage. With exceptional attention to detail, guests will enjoy a variety of dining experiences with friendly, familiar, personalized service every evening.

Before we dive into all of the restaurants you’ll find on the various Disney cruise ships, let’s discuss a few essential details that you should know.

Seating Assignments and Requests:  You will more than likely be sitting with other passengers at dinner. Private tables for your party can be requested but cannot be guaranteed. You can stop by the Guest Services desk aboard the ship when you board to speak with someone if you’d like to make this request. Keep in mind, though, part of the fun of cruising is meeting new people, so don’t be shy – you might just make new friends! One of the most extraordinary things about this is that Disney Cruise Line carefully pairs people with similar groups, i.e., if you are two adults with no children, you’ll likely be paired with another couple that is not traveling with children.

  • ARTICLE: Surprise! You Might Have Tablemates at Dinner on Your Disney Cruise Line Vacation

Be sure to request your preferred seating time and table size when you make your cruise reservation. Disney Cruise Line will do their best to accommodate you. You can also ask to be waitlisted for the dining time you prefer. If for some reason you don’t get what you requested, you can stop by Guest Services or reach out to the Dining team from your stateroom phone or in the Disney Cruise Line app.

If you are traveling with a group, you can have your reservations linked by Disney so that you are seated at the same table. They may be able to combine tables for a large group that wishes to dine together. Disney or your travel agent will be able to help with this. You will be seated with the same people at your table for every night of your cruise. If you aren’t going to be dining in the dining rooms, you should notify your server so they know not to wait for you.

Below, you’ll find a brief description of each of Disney Cruise Line’s main dining restaurants. Click the links below for more details.

1923 ( Disney Wish , Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 is an elegant celebration of the company’s legacy, paying homage to the golden age of animation and offering a tasteful tribute to its Californian heritage. VIEW FULL MENU WITH PHOTOS

Combining classic Hollywood glamour with a dash of Disney whimsy, 1923 features two lavishly appointed dining rooms, aptly named for the men behind the magic of the original film studio — Walt and Roy Disney. The rooms are adorned with more than 1,000 drawings, props, and other tools of the trade, providing an inside look at the evolution of Disney animation from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Frozen 2 .

At 1923, guests enjoy sophisticated dishes designed with families in mind and inspired by the fusion of cultural flavors found throughout the Golden State. The diverse menu mirrors the region’s blend of Asian, European and South American cuisines, featuring local ingredients like fresh produce, wild honey, and earthy pistachios. All paired, of course, with a superlative selection of world-famous Napa Valley wines.

Animator’s Palate  ( Disney Fantasy ,  Disney Dream ,  Disney Magic ,  Disney Wonder )

There are TV screens on the walls around the Animator’s Palate and the  Finding Nemo  characters will “visit” the tables to chat with guests during “Undersea Magic.” Guests will also experience “Animation Magic,” an interactive dinner show that will involve the guests in the animation shown during the meal. Guests are invited to draw Disney characters on placemats when they first come into the restaurant; servers will collect the completed drawings, which later show up as animation on screens around the room. The guests’ names will be shown and they will later receive their drawings back with a special animator’s stamp added. The show uses special Disney-created software to bring the drawings to life, along with a brand-new musical score and never-before-seen scenes from Disney films.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure ( Disney Wish )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure is Disney’s first  Frozen -themed theatrical dining experience, bringing the kingdom of Arendelle to life through immersive live entertainment — featuring favorite characters like Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf — and world-class cuisine infused with Nordic influences. VIEW FULL MENU WITH PHOTOS

Only on the Disney Wish are families invited to attend a royal engagement party for Queen Anna and Kristoff, picking up the story where Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen 2 left off. Elsa and Olaf host the celebration with catering provided by their friend Oaken’s “Hearty Party Planning Service… and Sauna” and live entertainment by “local” musicians who specialize in Nordic renditions of familiar Frozen songs.

Throughout the meal, guests enjoy live musical performances by these favorite characters and even get the opportunity to join the festivities with fun table crafts, hilarious sing-alongs, and a grand finale with everyone in the audience on their feet.

Enchanted Garden ( Disney Dream , Disney Fantasy )

Enchanted Garden serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is considered one of the main dining restaurants. During the daytime, the ceiling is a bright blue sky. For the evening meal, Enchanted Garden transforms from day to night with a starry sky full of constellations. The décor is made to feel like you are eating in the famous gardens of Versailles, France. You are surrounded by white trellises, arches, and landscape artwork. Lighting becomes part of the artwork, with the fixtures designed like glass flowers and light posts lining the center aisle. The glass flowers “bloom” at night and become colorful, like the rest of the gardens open as well. The centerpiece is a seven-foot-tall fountain with a Mickey Mouse statue in the center.

Lumiere’s ( Disney Magic )

Lumiere’s is found exclusively on the Disney Magic. As the name implies, the theme of this restaurant is Beauty and the Beast . The elegant décor makes this the most formal of the three main restaurants.

Plaza de Coco ( Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Plaza de Coco will be the world’s first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar film,  Coco . The story of Miguel and his  familia  will continue where it left off on screen as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take guests on two nights of colorful, music-filled journeys that celebrate family memories and togetherness with festive dinner menus of modern twists on traditional Mexican fare and a lineup of live entertainment.

Rapunzel’s Royal Table  ( Disney Magic )

Step into the ballroom of the royal castle and join in the joyful celebration of Rapunzel’s birthday. In Rapunzel’s Royal Table , guests will be entertained by a joyous band of musicians, the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs, and Princess Rapunzel herself!

Tiana’s Place ( Disney Wonder )

Experience southern charm at Tiana’s Place , inspired by the film The Princess and the Frog . Live jazz music and entertainment will accompany the New Orleans-style specialty dishes.

Triton’s ( Disney Wonder )

Triton’s is the Disney Wonder’s equivalent of Lumiere’s (on the Magic) and themed after Disney’s The Little Mermaid . The décor in this restaurant is upscale.

Royal Court ( Disney Fantasy )

Royal Court serves French-inspired, continental cuisine and is inspired by the classic Disney films  Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast , and  Sleeping Beauty . Designed to look like a palace, some of the features include a whimsical chandelier, lighting fixtures made to look like Cinderella’s Carriage, mosaic tile murals of the princesses, and hidden images of glass slippers, apples, roses, and tiaras.

Royal Palace ( Disney Dream )

Royal Palace serves French-inspired cuisine fit for a king or queen. The decor is inspired by classic Disney Princess films, including hand-painted portraits of Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle.

Worlds of Marvel ( Disney Wish , Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Families will play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission at Worlds of Marvel, the first Marvel cinematic dining adventure with an Avengers mission in the dining room, complete with a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. VIEW FULL MENU WITH PHOTOS

“Avengers: Quantum Encounter” follows Ant-Man and The Wasp as they embark on their first public speaking engagement on behalf of the Avengers. Anxious to impress, they host a special presentation of the most powerful Super Hero technologies, such as Captain America’s shield, Iron Man’s arc reactor, and Ant-Man’s Pym Particles, giving guests an up-close look at holographic models, field reports, and iconic scenes from Marvel movies displayed on the screens surrounding the room.

The highlight of this special event is a hands-on demonstration of the latest and greatest Pym Tech, the Quantum Core, which uses cutting-edge — and highly unstable — technology to shrink and grow targets at the push of a button. A few “misfires” result in hilarious Ant-Man-style hijinks, but the real trouble begins when an unexpected villain shows up with a fearsome army in tow, eager to get their hands on this powerful quantum technology. Ant-Man and The Wasp need all the help they can get to save the day, calling on Captain America, Captain Marvel and the brave diners of the Disney Wish for backup.

PREMIUM DINING

Adult-exclusive restaurants aboard Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant dining experiences.

Guests are requested to dress consistently with the restaurant’s sophistication. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Dress casual attire with a polished look is permitted (such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts and blouses, and lifestyle shoes). Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear, and sports attire is not permitted.

Enchanté ( Disney Wish , Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Enchanté offers the most luxurious dining experience onboard the Disney Wish , featuring a gourmet menu crafted by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement — of L’Assiette Champenoise, near Reims, France — one of the culinary masterminds behind the French-inspired fine dining experience at Remy aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Palo  ( Disney Fantasy ,  Disney Dream ,  Disney Magic ,  Disney Wonder )

With its 270-degree ocean view from high atop the ship, Palo has the loveliest view of all restaurants on the ship. Palo is for adults 18 and over only, and reservations are required. This restaurant features outstanding Northern Italian cuisine prepared to order.

The view from Palo is spectacular due to the restaurant’s location on the ship, but please keep in mind that the view is only “viewable” before sunset. After sunset, the only things visible from Palo are outside lights from the ship and a reflection of the interior of the restaurant. We would certainly not let this deter us from taking an available reservation at a later time, but we like to let guests know that an earlier reservation is often easier to get and offers the addition of the spectacular view and sunset. On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, guests have the option to dine outside on Palo’s private teak deck.

Palo Steakhouse ( Disney Wish , Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Palo Steakhouse aboard the Disney Wish is an evolution of the Palo restaurant that Disney cruisers know and love, now combining the relaxed sophistication of authentic Italian dining with the classic refinement of a modern steakhouse in a genteel setting inspired by Cogsworth, the tale’s majordomo-turned-enchanted-clock.

Remy ( Disney Dream , Disney Fantasy )

This adults-only premier dining location is on the Disney Dream and Fantasy. The French-inspired restaurant is named Remy after the star of the hit film,  Ratatouille , and uses seasonal ingredients worldwide.

Chef Arnaud Lallement from l’Assiette Champenoise, a Michelin two-star restaurant in France, and Chef Scott Hunnel from Walt Disney World’s signature restaurant  Victoria & Albert’s  have teamed up to create the new menu. Dinner starts with a signature chilled Champagne cocktail and features eight or nine small courses. Remy has ocean views from its top deck location and is decorated in Art Nouveau style. Images of the character Remy are hidden throughout the design.

QUICK & CASUAL RESTAURANTS

Guests have quite a few choices for casual dining options. Each Disney ship has a buffet that is open for breakfast and lunch. The main dining room restaurants are also open for table service breakfast and lunch. There is open seating for these meals, meaning you can eat in any restaurant and at any table you choose. 24-hour room service is also available.

For quick and easy fast food on the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic ,  Pinocchio’s Pizzeria ,  Daisy’s De-Lites, Pete’s Boiler Bites  (only on the Disney Magic), and  Scoops  serve pizza and hot dogs, burgers, chicken fingers, wraps, ice cream, fresh fruit, etc. at various times each day. Eye Scream Treats typically has four flavors of soft serve ice cream. There is also a beverage station offering milk, water, soft drinks, lemonade, tea, and coffee (Joffrey’s brand) on deck 9 aft that is available most of the time each day.

Quick service on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy include Luigi’s Pizza , Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites – all inspired by Disney·Pixar’s Cars. Between the 3 stations, you’ll find burgers, chicken, pizza, salads, and sandwiches. Eye Scream Treats offers a variety of soft-serve ice cream and Frozone Treats mixes up frozen-fruit smoothies morning, noon, and night.

The Disney Wish [and Disney Treasure ] quick service location is Mickey’s Festival of Foods, including Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue , Donald’s Cantina , Daisy’s Pizza Pies , Goofy’s Grill , and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream. This dining extravaganza is located right in the middle of the fun on the ship’s upper decks and serves an all-day mix of fan-favorite treats. The Disney Wish [and Disney Treasure will] feature(s) the fleet’s first dedicated quick-service venues for barbeque and Mexican -inspired fare.

Cabanas  ( Disney Dream ,  Disney Fantasy ,  Disney Magic ,  Disney Wonder )

Cabanas is a casual restaurant that serves fresh food favorites. You have the option of eating indoors or outdoors on the pool deck.  Cabanas is a buffet that also serves a few made-to-order food choices for breakfast and lunch. On select evenings during dinner, the linen napkins and tablecloths come out, and guests who’d like a more casual atmosphere can order some of their favorite items from the main dining rooms along with a variety of other items. This restaurant is most easily accessible from the aft elevators.

Marceline Market ( Disney Wish , Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market is a stylish food hall inspired by popular marketplaces worldwide. In the center, guests will find 10 food stalls with a café-style beverage bar. Both indoor and outdoor seating with breathtaking ocean views will be available.

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets ( Disney Wish )

Explore the sweeter side of your personality at this decadent dessert shop inspired by the Disney and Pixar animated film  Inside Out . Sculpted figures of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust will greet you as you enter Riley’s “headquarters” for hand-scooped gelato served in freshly made waffle cones. Signature treats include candy-filled chocolate “Memory Orbs” and colorful cupcakes that pay tribute to the film’s emotional characters – Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet), and Fear (bubble gum). Other specialties include macarons, cake pops, handcrafted truffles, designer cookies, chocolatey brownies, and assorted candies.

Jumbeaux’s Sweets ( Disney Treasure )

disney cruise ship dining rooms

The sweetshop,  Jumbeaux’s Sweets , will be reminiscent of the popular ice cream parlor, Jumbeaux Café, from the bustling mammal metropolis featured in Disney’s Zootopia . Surrounded by playful pink interiors, Victorian-style architecture, and an endearing sculpture of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, guests will be served humor and heart by the cone full.  From bunnies and elephants to sloths and foxes, all are welcome to indulge in more than 20 flavors of handmade gelato, 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies, and more.

Sweet on You ( Disney Fantasy )

Minnie’s Sweet on You is a vintage-style ice cream parlor that features scenes from classic Mickey Mouse shorts and dishes out 20 hand-crafted gelatos, 16 ice cream flavors, 32 toppings, milkshakes, and signature sundaes. There is also a wide variety of homemade chocolates, cookies, cupcakes, truffles, and bulk candy for sale. Additional fees apply to the items sold in this shop.

Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats  ( Disney Dream )

This  Wreck-It Ralph -inspired shop offers hand-scooped gelato, fresh waffle cones, baked treats, and candy. Additional fees apply to the items sold in this shop.

PIRATE NIGHT

The Disney Cruise ships offer a whole evening on most cruises dedicated to “Pirates IN the Caribbean.” A pirate-themed dinner (with a special menu in each of the 3 main dining rooms) is followed by a deck party featuring Captain Hook, Captain Jack Sparrow, or Captain Mickey. Guests are encouraged to wear pirate attire!

The Disney Dream will have a few additions to the evening that aren’t available on the other ships. Captain Jack Sparrow will host “Club Pirate,” a high-tech dance party on the deck. “Buccaneer Blast” is a spectacular fireworks synced with music and includes even more fireworks than ever!

Rotational Dining on a Disney Cruise: What You Should Know

dining tables

Are you curious about how Disney Cruise rotational dining works? Even if you are an avid cruiser with other cruise lines, the rotational dining method that Disney Cruise Line ships use may seem confusing at first.

My family and I really enjoy the way Disney Cruise Line allows you to rotate between main dining rooms throughout your cruise. This way, you get to experience all the themed restaurants on the cruise ship. Each dining space is wonderfully unique, and it is fun to spend time in each of the different restaurants.

If you’re wondering about how the Disney Cruise rotational dining system works, we’ve got you covered! In this post, I will explain what you need to know about rotational dining, and I will provide some dining tips and hacks to aid in your planning process!

When do you find out your dining rotation?

Disney Cruise Line used to print guests’ dining rotations on the Key to the World Card . Once you received this card during check in at the cruise terminal, you could determine what your dining rotation was.

Disney Cruise Line main dining room

However, DCL has changed the way they are doing this. At the time of this writing, guests can find out their dining rotation on embarkation day . Once you are inside the cruise terminal or onboard the ship, just login to the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Your dining rotation will be listed along with the menu for each restaurant.

How does the Disney cruise dining rotation work?

Each Disney cruise ship has three main dining rooms. You rotate between these dining rooms throughout the duration of your cruise. The main dining restaurants on the Disney ships are as follows:

  • Disney Dream – Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, Royal Palace
  • Disney Fantasy – Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, Royal Court
  • Disney Magic – Animator’s Palate, Rapunzel’s Royal Table, Lumiere’s
  • Disney Wonder – Animator’s Palate, Tiana’s Place, Triton’s
  • Disney Wish – 1923, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, Worlds of Marvel

So, if you sail on a 3 night itinerary, you would visit each dining room once. If you sail on a longer itinerary, you will visit one or more restaurants multiple times, depending on the length of your cruise.

Pictures of Disney Cruise Restaurants with text overlay How does Disney Cruise Rotational Dining work

That being said, even though you may eat in the same dining room, the experience is completely different. For example, my family and I ate in Animator’s Palate on the Disney Magic during nights 2 AND 3 of a 5 night Disney cruise from Miami . During night 2, we had the regular dining menu for Animator’s Palate, and we experienced the special Sorcerer Mickey show.

Pirate Night Kids’ Menu Disney Magic

We were also assigned to Animator’s Palate on night 3, but this was Pirate Night. Therefore, we had a special Pirate Night menu, and the servers provided entertainment to go along with this theme. So, even if you visit the same restaurant multiple times, you’ll get to enjoy a unique experience with a different menu at each visit.

Main Dining Room Servers

During dinner on your first night, you will meet your wait staff, which includes your server, assistant server, and head server. These three individuals will rotate dining rooms with you throughout the cruise. In addition, if your family has been seated with other travelers, they will also move with you and your servers through the same dining rotation during your trip.

Live Music at Rapunzel’s Royal Table

This means that even though you may be dining in a new location each night, your serving team will remain the same. The assistant server is typically the first to arrive at your table each evening, and he/she will take your drink order. The server is the one who takes your food order, and the head server is kind of like the manager. He/she walks around making sure everything is running smoothly.

Disney Cruise Dining Times

Before I get into the details about your dining time, I want to start from the beginning with the Disney cruise booking process . When you initially book your cruise with DCL, you will be prompted to choose between Main Seating and Second Seating.

Main Dining Time

Depending on the ship and itinerary you choose, Main Seating should take place at around 5:45 PM. Since the Broadway style shows on the ship tend to start at around 6:15 and 8:30, those who dine at the early time would go to the later show.

↓↓ Visit My Etsy Shop ↓↓

Disney Cruise Planner

I’m going to give you a heads up that the Main Seating time fills up fast and is often “sold out” unless you book your cruise far in advance. But, if you continue reading below, I will give you some tips for getting into the Main Seating time.

Late Dining Time

The Second Seating dining time usually begins at around 8:15 PM. Now, if you are cruising with a toddler or small kids, you may be thinking there is no way your family can eat at 8:15 at night. I totally agree with you! So, I’m going to explain a few ways to make this late dining time work for you.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship

First, consider the time zone in which you will be sailing. The Disney cruise itineraries that visit the Bahamas and Caribbean typically follow Eastern Time. Therefore, if you live in the Central Time Zone, 8:15 PM is really only 7:15 for you.

If you think your family can handle this second seating time, I’ve actually heard that people prefer it. The dinners are a lot less rushed and much more quiet. Also, if you eat during Second Seating, you get to attend the earlier live show in the theater. The theater during this show time can often be much less crowded as well.

Changing Rotational Dining Times

If the time zone trick still doesn’t make the Second Seating assignment work for you, these are the steps you can take to change your Disney Cruise dining time:

Get on the Waitlist

After you finish booking your cruise, call Disney Cruise Line and ask to be placed on the waitlist for Main Seating. They will tell you that this is not guaranteed. Also, they do not (in our experience) send an email confirmation about your request.

Castaway Cay picture of beach

Because I am a planning/control freak, I always call DCL again a few weeks later just to clarify that I’m actually on this waitlist. Once you have done this, Disney will sometimes (eventually) move you to Main Seating before you sail. Again, they won’t email you to let you know. Instead, we have always found out by just logging into our online account, and seeing that one day it magically says Main Seating.

Check the App Often

This brings me to my next solution. Because I’m a crazy planner, I tend to check my account on the Disney Cruise Navigator App daily. On my most recent cruise with DCL, Main Seating randomly became available on the app about 30 days before we were scheduled to set sail.

Main Dining Room with lanterns hanging from ceiling

I just happened to log in one morning and see this option. So, make sure you check your account on the app regularly so you don’t miss Main Seating if it opens. I don’t think it was available for very long.

Make Changes Onboard

If you have done all of these things and they did not work, you can go to the dining changes meeting after you board the ship. When you check in on embarkation day, you will receive a Personal Navigator explaining the cruise schedule for this first day.

This Personal Navigator will list a meeting time and location for those who need to make dining changes. You just show up to the location during the time listed and wait in line until it’s your turn. Once you are able to speak to the crew member in charge, he/she may be able to add you to the Main Seating time right then.

Disney Cruise Dining Tips

If you’re a first time cruiser, these are some of my top Disney Cruise Line dining tips:

Request a High Chair/Booster Seat

If you are traveling with a baby or toddler, you can request a high chair or booster seat in your account on the Navigator App.

Food Allergy

You can make a note of certain food allergies and preferences (like vegetarian) directly on the app. I will note here that my husband has a gluten intolerance and was able to tell the dining servers once we were onboard the ship. They easily accommodated his allergy, even on Castaway Cay.

Kid’s Menu Requests

The kid’s menu rotates kid-friendly favorites like chicken fingers, hamburgers, pasta, macaroni & cheese, etc. Your kids are welcome to order off of the adult menu as well. And your servers can take care of simple menu changes for you. For example, both of my girls asked for broccoli as their side item each night even if it wasn’t listed.

Ask Your Servers

If you’re not sure what to order, just ask your serving team! They always give great recommendations since they know the menus so well!

Seating Arrangements

If you are concerned about the seating arrangements and eating with strangers, call DCL before your cruise to request a private dining table. **Note that Disney Cruise Line now allows guests to request a private table in the DCL Navigator App prior to sailing.

Dinner Attire

You will see all kinds of outfits in the dining rooms onboard, so you really can’t go wrong no matter how fancy or casual (within reason) you want to dress. Just make sure to take a cardigan or jacket with you if you tend to get cold because the dining rooms can be quite chilly. You can find the official dress code for the dining venues on the Disney Cruise ships here .

Dining Rotation Request

Some Disney Cruise Line guests prefer specific dining rotations during their trip. This could be due to many factors, including a desire to be seated in one of the “fancier” dining rooms on formal night. In other words, some families prefer to eat at Enchanted Garden or Royal Court rather than at Animator’s Palate when in formal wear.

Additionally, sometimes cruisers have a favorite dining room that they don’t want to miss during the trip. If those guests booked Palo or another activity that conflicted with their main dining time, they may want to request a rotation that allows them to still visit their favorite restaurant on another night.

Although my family and I have never requested a specific Disney cruise dining rotation, it is something that others consider. If this is important to you, just call DCL to make a note of your request. Similar to other requests, it is not guaranteed. However, they will try to work with you.

Final Thoughts on Disney Cruise Dining Rotations

Overall, I really enjoy the concept of rotational dining. It’s nice to visit multiple dining rooms on your cruise, especially since Disney is so great at theming these spaces. My family and I also really love the dinner entertainment that is provided at certain venues.

The live music and dancing help keep the kids (and sometimes toddlers) entertained throughout the meal. Whether you are planning your first Disney cruise or you’ve enjoyed Disney’s rotational dining experience on other ships, we hope you enjoy all the themed dining venues onboard!

After sailing with all 5 Disney cruise ships, there's only one I'd consider traveling on again

  • My family and I have sailed on all five Disney Cruise Line ships, but Disney Fantasy is my favorite.
  • I love the Fantasy-exclusive venues, including a vintage-themed ice cream shop .
  • Disney Fantasy also has five European-inspired nightclubs, lounges, and bars.

Insider Today

My family and I have sailed on all five Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ships. Although each ship offers a unique experience, there's only one I'd consider traveling on again: Disney Fantasy.

The ship, which debuted in 2012, has 14 decks and some of my favorite onboard activities, including the AquaDuck water coaster and five adults-only lounges.

Here are some of the reasons I'd travel on Disney Fantasy again.

Disney Fantasy's size is just right.

The 1,115-foot-long Fantasy is larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, which are both 984 feet long and have 11 decks.

However, Disney Fantasy's separate family and adult areas make it easy to be entertained in a sea of up to 4,000 people. I love relaxing with a handful of guests in the cozy cafés and nooks or sunbathing in solitude.

I love the Fantasy-exclusive venues.

Each DCL ship has exclusives you won't find on other ships in its fleet, including restaurants and adults-only lounges.

For example, Disney Fantasy has Sweet on You, a vintage-themed ice-cream shop and confectionery inspired by classic Mickey Mouse shorts.

Other exclusives on Disney Fantasy include a Bvlgari shop and a trio of nightlife spots: Italian-style La Piazza bar, British nightclub The Tube, and French Champagne bar Ooh La La.

There's more aquatic fun on Disney Fantasy than most DLC ships.

Disney Fantasy has seven freshwater pools and water-play areas, including three family pools, two adult pools, and two splash areas. The only ship with more pools and water-play areas is Disney Wish, which has 10.

One of my favorite activities is the AquaDuck water coaster.

The AquaDuck, which is only found on this ship and Disney Dream, is a 765-foot water coaster that propels passengers in two-person rafts through a massive transparent tube.

The ride includes open-air portions that offer views of the ocean and a stomach-dropping four-deck drop.

The adults-only lounges have unique European themes.

Disney Fantasy has five European-inspired nightclubs, lounges, and bars located in one area called Europa. The Tube is a London Underground-themed venue, Ooh La La is themed around Champagne, O'Gill's is an Irish pub, and La Piazza has an Italian feel.

I also love the quiet but mesmerizing Skyline bar, which features changing "windows" of famous city skylines.

The Europa theme seamlessly flows from one venue to the next, and I love having the ability to barhop in one specific area of the ship.

I'm a fan of the ship's more subdued dining experiences.

Some Disney fans may prefer entertaining dining experiences, but I appreciate the more subdued dinners on Disney Fantasy.

I don't have children , so I appreciate being able to enjoy the Disney vibes without sitting through the over-the-top dinner dramas found on other ships.

I love visiting restaurants like the princess-themed Royal Court and the French-garden-themed Enchanted Garden. My favorite, however, is Animator's Palate, which celebrates Disney animation and is on every ship except Disney Wish.

I love relaxing in the Rainforest inside Senses Spa.

I always purchase a pass to the Rainforest within Senses Spa, which features aromatherapy showers, a steam room, and a sauna.

However, the Rainforests on Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are the best because they each have two whirlpools set on a secluded ocean-view verandah. It's arguably the quietest, most relaxing part of the ship.

Overall, Disney Fantasy is my favorite ship — for now.

Right now, Disney Fantasy is my favorite ship because it has the most appealing adults-only options. From one of the best Rainforest set-ups to Europa's quintet of bars and lounges, I love spending time on this ship.

However, this could change with Disney's newest ships , Treasure and Destiny, set to embark on their maiden voyages in December 2024 and November 2025, respectively.
