Closing all of the tabs in your Safari browser on an iOS device is one such trick -- it's simple if you know how to do it, but it's a gesture you might not know exists.

• Open up Safari.
• Long press on the "Tabs" icon denoted by two squares. On iPhones, it's at the bottom of the browser in portrait mode or at the top in landscape mode. On the iPad, it's at the top.
• Select Close All Tabs.

Alternatively, you can single tap on the Tabs icon to bring up the browser window view, and then long press on "Done" to bring up the same "Close All Tabs" interface.

If you frequently find yourself with dozens of forgotten open Safari tabs on your iPhone or iPad, then it can be annoying to sort through them or manually close them later . Luckily, Safari can automatically close tabs after a certain period of time. Here's how to set it up.

First, open Settings. Scroll down until you see "Safari" and tap it.

In Safari settings, swipe down until you see the "Tabs" section, then tap "Close Tabs."

One the "Close Tabs" screen, you have the option to set the lifespan of an open Safari browser tab. When set, Safari will close tabs that have not been viewed within the period of time you set, and the options are "Manually," "After One Day," "After One Week," or "After One Month." This setting applies to Private tabs as well.

Pick the option that suits you best and tap on it.

After that, leave Settings. It's handy to know that even after Safari automatically closes your older tabs, you can still find them in the hidden "Open Recently Closed Tabs" menu  in Safari for iPhone and iPad. You can access it by holding down the "+" (plus) button on the tab management screen in Safari.

As a potential downside, Safari (as of iOS and iPadOS 13) will also group recently closed Private Browsing tabs in the same "Recently Closed Tabs" area if they are closed automatically. If you want to fully conceal recent browsing activity, it may be best to manually close Private tabs yourself.

Safari can freeze and remain unresponsive if an extension or another application interferes with it. When it freezes, it won't close the normal way; all controls are disabled and the browser fails to respond. The solution is to force a shut down of Safari to escape the frozen state.

Press the "Command-Option-Esc" keys to launch the "Force Quit Applications" window.

Alternatively, click the Apple logo in the menu bar and select "Force Quit" to launch the "Force Quit Applications" window.

Click "Safari" and then click the "Force Quit" button.

Click the "Force Quit" button again to shut down Safari when "Do you want to force Safari to quit?" appears on the screen.

Windows Users

Right-click the taskbar and click "Start Task Manager" to launch the Task Manager.

Click the "Processes" tab to display a list of the running processes. Click "Show processes from all users" and then enter your administrator password to display the processes for all the accounts on your computer.

Scroll down and click "Safari.exe." Click "End Process" to shut down Safari completely.

Is your iPhone feeling sluggish? Over time, it's normal for your iPhone (or any phone) to start slowing down, particularly with age. It might mean it's time to bid your current iPhone goodbye and splash out for a new one ( after trading in ), but often the issue of a sluggish iPhone might be within your control. The solution could be as simple as clearing out your storage space, among other possibilities. No, not that  storage space. Your iPhone's "Other" storage.

If you've run out of storage before and attempted to manually free up space, you may already be familiar with Other storage. If not, let's run through what that is before we dive into how to shrink this pesky category.

What is the iPhone's Other storage?

The Other section is a mysterious, catch-all corner of your iPhone's storage. Think of it as a place where things like system files and Siri voices can be stored. It can also be a memory hog, mainly due to caching. Your cache stores elements of apps or websites so they load faster the next you use them. The cache collects items as you browse the web, stream videos or movies and when you send text messages with pictures or videos. In apps like Google Maps and Chrome,  cached data can soon start to eat away at your available storage  on the device. 

To check how much space Other storage is using, you'll need to   go to  Settings  >  General  >  iPhone   Storage . After the iPhone makes its calculation, you'll see a bar graph of the categories taking up your iPhone's storage. The Other storage section is usually the gray portion on the far right of the graph. Assuming your Other storage is taking up more space than it should, here are a few things you can do that could help you change that.

iOS 11 introduced new ways to free up space, including the option of offloading apps you don't use regularly.

Offload apps

Not to be confused with deleting an app, offloading an app means the app is removed from your device, but all data is retained , for when you decide to reinstall it. Take advantage of this trick, especially if you have apps like Google Maps that use a lot of space but don't store much data. To offload an app, go back to iPhone Storage in Settings > General, tap on the app that you want to offload and then  Offload App . 

Here's a tip: In the iPhone Storage section, there's a list of apps with a number next to each name indicating the storage it uses. You can immediately get an overview of which apps are hogging memory or taking up just a little. This can help you decide which to offload.

Clear out the Safari cache and close tabs

If you use Safari often, your iPhone may be storing web history and data that you simply do not need. To clear Safari's browser cache, go to Settings > Safari and  Clear History and Website Data.  If you're a Chrome user, here's how to clear out cache on Google's browser .

Closing out tabs also helps free up storage and keeps your device running smoothly. You can manage how frequently Safari will close open tabs by going to  Settings  >  Safari  >  Close Tabs . You can keep closing tabs manually, or let Safari close out tabs that haven't been viewed for a day, a week or a month. 

Stop storing texts forever

By default, your iPhone stores all of the text messages you send and receive forever. This is convenient if you need to look up a 15-month-old conversation, but not so convenient if you need your storage space back. To stop your phone from saving texts forever, open up  Settings  and tap Messages . Scroll down until you find Message History and tap Keep Messages . Change Forever to 30 Days or 1 Year . A pop-up will ask you if you want to delete older messages; tap Delete to proceed.

Reset your iPhone

If all else fails, a surefire way to dump a lot of the junk contained in Other storage is by  resetting your iPhone , even if you can't fully empty it.

I went on my first safari trip to South Africa. I won't make these 10 mistakes next time.

• I found that planning was essential and that I always needed to have my camera ready.
• Next time I'd bring warmer clothing and a buff for dust control.

I spent a week on safari in South Africa, visiting three different reserves.

It was a thrilling adventure I'll never forget, and I got to see incredible creatures such as hyenas, elephants, and lions.

It's no wonder more travelers are looking to weave game reserves into their trips. According to the most recent data collected by the travel agency Go2Africa , interest in beach and safari combo trips was up 20% from 2022 to 2023 alone.

But although the trip was great, it wasn't always easy — and I had a few missteps from the planning phase to the wildlife observation.

Here are mistakes I made on my trip that that everyone should avoid on their first safari .

We booked our trip during a busy part of the year.

I try to avoid traveling during holidays , which often means more crowds. Unfortunately, we ended up booking during Easter break, which was the end of summer in the southern hemisphere.

The lodges were full and busy with lots of kids, and the prices were higher. We still had a great time, but if we'd booked different dates — maybe during a low season — we may have paid less for a more private experience.

The mornings were cold, even in summer.

Our morning game drives started before sunrise in an open-air jeep.

The safari guide was wearing shorts, so I thought I would be comfortable matching that. Wrong! I was so cold on our first ride.

I quickly learned that although it was summer, a beanie and down jacket would've been cozy on the drive.

I missed photo opportunities because my camera wasn't ready.

I knew I wanted to keep my camera out at all times when on a game drive. But after several hours of driving, we were approaching the gate and I tucked my phone away.

That's when we turned a corner and saw a large white rhino facing us in the middle of the road. It was a dramatic moment I captured in my head, but I didn't have time to snap a photo before it darted into the bushes.

Next time, I'd be better prepared for animals that might pop up near the exit.

I had no idea how dusty the roads were going to be.

The safari terrain changed based on where the guide drove each day, and some routes were quite dusty.

After a day of exploring, I felt as if I had dust in my ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. Sunglasses helped shield my eyes, but I wish I'd brought a buff to cover the rest of my face.

Driving between game reserves made me more tired than I'd expected.

Our safari adventure included visits to three different wildlife reserves, and we rented a car to get between them.

On each transition day, we had a morning game drive, then a drive to get to the next reserve, and then an evening game drive there.

That was a lot of sitting, and by the time I got to the evening game drive, I was tired. Next time, I may space my schedule out more.

I made the classic mistake of leaving the car door open when unloading the luggage.

At one point, I walked my bags inside my accommodations, leaving the door open behind me. When I came out, the neighbors were taking photos of a monkey inside my car.

He was quick because, fortunately, I didn't have any food in the car for him to run off with.

Now I know to stay on top of shutting and locking my car doors when at a game reserve.

We got too close to elephants.

Animals can be unpredictable and safaris are not like a zoo. I learned how quickly a situation can change while watching a herd of elephants eating in Kruger National Park.

They started crossing the road in front of my car, and a large one turned to look right at us and started shaking his head. It seemed clearly displeased with our presence.

I flipped the car into reverse faster than you can say "elephant," but it was a scary moment.

Consuming too much liquid can be risky.

Evening safari drives include a stop in the bush around sunset for a "sundowner" beverage. One of the nights, my drink proved to be too much liquid for my bladder.

The problem was that we were following a pride of lions, so there was no chance of hopping off the truck to relieve myself.

I was able to hold it, but next time I'll be more careful with the amount of liquid I consume before and during bush drives.

I was caught off guard by load shedding.

Load shedding is the name for scheduled power outages in South Africa that help prevent the power grid from being overloaded.

Some places have backup generators or solar panels to alleviate power disruptions, but I learned not to expect that to always be the case.

When the power turned off during our trip, I found myself sitting in complete darkness. I scrambled for my phone flashlight, but I could've avoided that panic by plugging in the emergency light that was provided.

Safari won't shut down, or force quit

Hi, Safari will not shut down for me by any method. I've tried selecting "quit" within the Safari application. I've tried a more general "force quit" too.

Because of this, I cannot shut down my Mac w/o using the power button method.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

     Use  the latest release of MalwareBytes for Mac to remove malware/adware. 

     Install guide:       https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1817

     Uninstall Guide:  https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1190

     The installer may ask you to allow it in Security & Privacy  /System Preference. Allow it.

     Click the “Scan Now” button. Once done quit Malwarebytes for Mac.

     Restart the computer, relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.

• Jeep unveils four new concept vehicles for 2024 Easter Jeep Safari, catering to all off-road enthusiasts with different powertrains.
• The Low Down concept pays homage to the Wrangler Rubicon 392 with a custom overhaul and 475-hp Hemi V8 engine.
• The Dispatcher features a 375-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain with a retro look and luxurious interior, blending history with modernity.

For this year's 2024 Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep and Mopar-led Jeep Performance Parts introduce four new concepts vehicles . With powertrains ranging from the beloved 392 Hemi V8 to the 4xe hybrid, there are concepts here that appeal to every kind of off-road enthusiast.

HotCars' own Editor-At-Large Chris Tonn was on hand for the initial press reveal and had this to say: "[The] designers and engineers try and get to events like the Easter Jeep Safari to see what people are using out on the trails - both for function and for style. Things that have trickled down from existing users have made their ways into Easter Jeep Safari concepts and then eventually into production vehicles."

2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition Goes Out With A Hemi-Powered Bang

For all those out there lamenting the gradual demise of the Hemi V8, Jeep has some good news for you in the form of the Jeep Wrangler-based Low Down concept. While Jeep is sadly killing off the short-lived V8 Wrangler Rubicon 392 this year, this off-road Mopar is paying homage by giving the model a custom overhaul while still retaining its 475-hp 6.4-liter naturally aspirated Hemi V8 under the hood.

• 475 hp 6.4-liter naturally aspirated Hemi V8
• Poison Apple Red paint and white decals
• Custom bodywork and carbon hood with power dome
• 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler mud-terrain tires and 20-inch beadlock wheels

Aside from the eye-catching red paint, the most notable feature of the Low Down concept is the frankly enormous 20-inch gold beadlock wheels wrapped in gigantic 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler mud-terrain off-road tires . To get everything to fit, the Jeep also has custom high-clearance fenders and shorter overhangs front and rear while retaining the stock Wrangler Rubicon 392 suspension. Here are Chris' impressions from attending the Low Down concept's reveal:

"The red 392 Wrangler is inspired by race cars, of all things — they had pictures of vintage Ferraris and Lancias on screen. They put 40-inch tires on a Rubicon without lifting it, so it looks lower and more hunkered down."

Meanwhile, the standard Dana 44 axles with 4:10 gears have been replaced by Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gears. Jeep claims all these changes allow for a significant increase in approach and departure angles with higher ground clearance while retaining a low center of gravity. The interior has also seen some changes, with a simplified dash removing the infotainment screens and the addition of custom black leather and cloth seats.

The 10 Most Reliable Jeeps On The Used Market

The second of the Wrangler-based concepts is a minty green Jeep dubbed the Dispatcher. The Dispatcher features the 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain , producing 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and Dana 50 Advantech front and rear axles. Here's Chris's take:

"They made a note that the mail delivery Jeep was once called a Dispatcher, but unlike that old one this does indeed have 4WD. Willys embossed logo on the hood - a glimpse of postwar Americana. History meets the future. They put flat fenders on there, and a houndstooth-type material on the seats."

On the outside, the Dispatcher has a custom old-school front bumper and ‘WILLYS’ lettering embossed on the side of the hood, paying homage to the early flat-fender Jeeps . A Warn Epic Series winch continues the more utilitarian theme. The wheels are also appropriately retro, with the Dispatcher sitting on a set of cream 16-by-7.0-inch alloy “steelies” wrapped in Super Traxion 36-inch tires. Meanwhile, custom Element 115 Green paint finishes off the old-school aesthetic.

The inside is also a throwback, albeit with a far more luxurious interior feel than any Jeep of yesteryear. The distressed saddle brown leather and houndstooth cloth seats make do without a headrest, which is said to invoke a more laid-back, vintage feel.

Moving up in size, the next concept we’re looking at is the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept, built by Jeep Performance Parts to showcase their extensive customer catalog. Under the hood is slightly more underwhelming, with the High Top housing the more pedestrian 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. However, the 40-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires and 18-inch Satin Black KMC Grenade Crawl beadlock wheels make far more of a statement.

The High Top also rides tall on AccuAir adjustable air suspension , with Concept JPP flat fender flares all around, providing optimal ground clearance. The exterior also features an American Expedition Vehicles front bumper with a Warn winch sitting below a custom protective hoop.

The Ginger Snap metallic paint adorns the body, along with a two-tone black livery - a color theme that continues on the inside with the custom two-tone leather seats. The High Top also features a decked truck bed storage system and rock-slider rocker panels with power-retractable steps.

What To Expect When You Daily-Drive A Jeep Wrangler

Last but not least we’re moving away from the more classic style of Jeep and looking at the Grand Wagoneer-based Vacationeer SUV. However, in an interesting twist, the second and third rows of seats are now gone in favor of an open space, which leads to the custom, carbon-fiber RedTail Overland SkyLoft tent box sitting on top of the roof .

The SkyLoft has space for two to sleep, and Jeep says it’s even climate-controlled, likely thanks to the integrated solar panels. Aside from the seat delete, the interior itself has also received a massive retro-inspired overhaul, with wood-effect paneling throughout. Chris told us his observations of the Vacationeer's interior:

"The woodgrain has a 3-D texture to it to make it look/feel like actual wood. The plaid inserts within the seats have a bunch of Jeep easter eggs within and they look properly vintage in my estimation."

As for the powertrain, the Vacationeer has the much-talked-about turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane engine , which is also set to feature in the next-generation Dodge Charger muscle car. It seems as though Jeep and JJP have brought out all the stops this year, and we’re certain the 20,000-strong Jeep community will love what they see when these concepts turn up at Easter Jeep Safari 2024.
