Luxury Cruises to the British Isles

From legendary landscapes to a rich history, there’s so much to explore on British Isles cruises. Discover iconic sites like the White Cliffs of Dover and the mysterious wonders of Stonehenge. Follow in the footsteps of the Beatles in Liverpool. Journey to Dorset’s Corfe Castle, one of the country’s most picturesque ruins.

Shop for Waterford crystal in Ireland, and kiss the famous stone at Blarney Castle. In Scotland, learn the secrets of whisky, cruise the still waters of beautiful Loch Lomond, and explore the imposing Inveraray Castle. Wherever you visit on our European cruises to the British Isles, you’ll discover green, rolling landscapes, sleepy rural villages, dynamic cities, and layer upon layer of history. Whether your interest is music, medieval history, historic pubs, or fashion, you’ll find it here.

British Isles Cruise Highlights

Majestic castles.

Experience the storied history of the British Isles through the region’s famous castles. From Dover, travel to London and marvel at the 11th-century Tower of London, home of the Crown Jewels. In Kent, see dreamy, 900-year-old Leeds Castle, where Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon lived. Edinburgh Castle is a must, perched imperiously on Castle Rock, while 15th-century Stirling Castle whisks you back to the time of the great Scottish kings and queens.

Pub Culture

Pubs are endemic to British culture, and every village has at least one, where you’ll find a bucolic garden, a roaring fire in the cooler months, a fine array of beers on tap, and often, gourmet “pub grub”. Chat with locals in Ireland over a pint of Guinness, or sip cider in the sunshine in leafy Dorset or Kent. Seek out pubs in London that date back to the 16th century, frequented by such luminaries as Dickens, Keats, and the highwayman Dick Turpin. You’ll always find a friendly welcome.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

The British Isles are packed with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, both natural and man-made. The elegant city of Bath has one of the best-preserved Roman spas in the world, while Stonehenge dates back 5,000 years. From Belfast, explore Giant’s Causeway, a phenomenal natural wonder comprising thousands of basalt columns. In London, admire the blooms and exotic flora at Kew’s Royal Botanic Gardens, or the gracious Palladian architecture of Maritime Greenwich, bisected by the 0° longitude meridian.

Featured British Isles Cruise Ports

Liverpool, england.

Liverpool is rich in maritime history and popular culture. If you’re a Beatles fan, you can visit the humble childhood homes of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. See Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, both of which inspired songs, and the Cavern Club, where it all began. Other Liverpool sights include the Three Graces, three iconic buildings on Pier Head, from where early emigrants to the United States departed. Visit the Cathedral, the largest in Britain, with soaring Gothic arches.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Dynamic Belfast, today a thriving, modern city, is famed as the epicenter of the “Troubles” that spanned three decades from the 1960s. Visit the Peace Wall that separates Catholic and Protestant areas, daubed with poignant murals, as well as the infamous Crumlin Road Gaol, operational until 1996 and believed to be haunted. Titanic followers shouldn’t miss the superb Titanic Belfast exhibit, which tells the story in multiple dimensions of the world’s most famous ship, which was built here.

Dover, England

Dover is the gateway to the historic towns, lush countryside, and natural attractions of southeast England. Visit the White Cliffs of Dover for dramatic landscapes, wartime history, and coastal vistas. Venture to Canterbury to explore Canterbury Cathedral, dating back 1,400 years, and explore moated Leeds Castle, once home to six medieval queens. Spend the day in nearby Tenterden, where you can ride a vintage railway and taste English wine. Or head to London, an easy day trip away.

British Isles Cruise Itineraries

Explore the British Isles on either Celebrity Silhouette, which sails out of the Dutch port of Rotterdam, or Celebrity Apex, which is based in Southampton all summer long. Cruises last from 11 to 13 nights, incorporating exciting ports in Iceland or circumnavigating Britain.

Itineraries

Gaze out at Britain’s towering cliffs and green coastlines from the al fresco Lawn Club Grill, or feast on French classics with a contemporary twist in Murano. On Celebrity Apex, head to the leafy, light-filled lounge, Eden, for cocktails and dinner, or have lunch in the sunshine at the Rooftop Garden. Southampton, England, Waterfront quayside

ENAMOURED WITH ENGLAND

There's something for everyone in England – whether you prefer metropolitan meccas like London or the quiet countryside of the Cotswolds.

It's useful to know the London Underground escalator etiquette, which is to stand on the right so commuters can rush by on the left.

Tipping is not customary across the British Isles like it is elsewhere in Europe and in North America. Some restaurants do add a service charge to bills.

If driving in the British Isles, remember that Ireland's road signs are in kilometres, while Great Britain uses miles.

FOR FOODIES A CUISINE OF COMFORT

Each country in the British Isles is known for its signature pub grub and comfort food dishes. These hearty and predominantly meaty meals keep locals warm in a region known for its bracing weather.

Traditional Irish Stew for St. Patricks day

Stir the Pot

Made from slow-cooked meat – typically lamb or beef – and root vegetables such as potatoes, onions and carrots, a bowl of Irish stew with a side of crusty bread is only made better when washed down with a pint of Guinness.

Cote de Boeuf with Yorkshire Pudding

The Proof's in the Pudding

Typically served on Sundays, a traditional British roast usually includes roast beef, roast potatoes, a side of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding; a baked pudding often served with gravy. Head to a London pub to tuck into this English tradition.

British Fish and Chips

The O.G. Fish and Chips

Across the British Isles, you'll find thousands of restaurants and shops exclusively serving fish and chips, which first appeared in England in the 1860s. Flaky, tender white fish is deep-fried in a thin, crunchy layer of batter and served alongside thick-cut fried potatoes and 'mushy' peas, as the locals call them, which are blended with cream or occasionally ultra-rich bone marrow.

The only thing not included in this all-inclusive vacation is a Wi-Fi and on-board credit package. The MSC Seashore is one of the biggest MSC cruise ships, with multiple amenities while also being the cheapest to offer such amenities.

The british isles, learn how to take a tour from an expert, and save money while having a wonderful holiday.

cheap cruises around british isles

Since I am from the British Isles and go home regularly, you can take my recommendations and know you are being guided by an expert on that part of the world. This is one of the top three destinations in the world and there is a trip for every budget. Four very special countries, with different languages, food, music, culture, customs, and national dress. These are not countries I recommend driving yourself since most of the roads are very narrow, high hedges, you are on the other side of the road and petrol is more than double what we pay in the U.S. In off the beaten track areas you will find many one lane roads with passing lanes and few petrol statins which close on Sundays. I asked one new client what was the highlight of the trip they had done on their own the previous year. The husband replied "the day I turned in the damned car at Heathrow Airport".

If this is your first trip, I would definitely go on a guided tour. You will get superior first class accommodations, breakfast daily and most dinners. For the single traveler, this is definitely the way to go. Group size can vary greatly and you will soon make friends. No matter which of the four tours you choose, I would recommend you fly in a day or two earlier than the tour leaves. You cannot rely on airlines getting you there on time so play safe and arrive early.

Go on our website - www.allhorizonstvl.com and review the four trips we have offered at a great price.

Taste of Ireland. Several dates between April and December visiting Dublin, Cashel, Blarney, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty , Shannon. I would take the 6 night tour, offer No. M16947. You can go for 4 or 5 nights but if you are only visiting Ireland, then you should make it longer. This tour shows you the highlights of the land, and you get free ground transfers.

Great British Cities. Edinburgh to London. 7 nights, dates from April 22 to October 28 with free ground transfers and $300 savings per couple on selected dates. you will go to Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Jedburgh, York, Whitby, and Stratford on Avon. You will travel through Yorkshire by vintage train. Offer No. 1289603. You are seeing some great parts of the land and travel up the east coast. I love York, a wonderful medieval city, worth seeing.

Scottish Isles and Glens. Glasgow to Edinburgh, 11 nights, offer M 17041. Visit Glasgow, Drymen, Isle of Bute, Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Isle of Skye, Inverewe, Ullapool, Durness, Isle of Orkney, Inverness, Culloden, Edinburgh. Free ground transfers and $400 savings per couple on selected dates.

Grand Tour of Britain and Ireland, London to Windsor, 23 days. Offer 1289564. This is a lot of ground to cover but you will see the best parts in comfort. London, Cotswolds, Stratford, York, Edinburgh, St.Andrews, Pitlochry, Loch Ness, Inverness, Oban, Alloway, Cairnyryan, Belfast, Giants Causewway, Derry, Donegal, Knock, Con, Galway, Connemara, Cliffs of Moher, Burren Killarney, Kenmare, Blarney, Cobb, Waterford, New Ross, Dublin, Conwy, Cardiff, Bath, Glastonbury, St. Michaels Mount, St. Austell and Stonehenge Free Ground transfers and $500 savings per couple on selected dates. This tour takes you into Wales, which is an added bonus.

We are using C.I.E. Tours who does an excellent job of good value with expert guides. You can't go wrong on one of these tours.
