Master bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room, living/dining area, guest bedroom and bathroom, terrace, and private hot tub, plus a butler on hand to ensure you never have to lift a finger during your vacation. For the interior design, we once again enlisted Kelly Hoppen to bring her unparalleled vision to the table. Precisely adjust nearly every comfort feature with a simple touch screen. The in-room automation allows you to control everything from lighting to temperature.

Perfectly designed Sky Suite offer a blend of expansive views and intimate luxury. These large suites feature a king-sized bed from our signature Cashmere Bedding CollectionSM that faces outward for views of the great outdoors, a sitting area, with a signature Kelly Hoppen wooden rocker, and a spacious, private veranda. The split bathroom features a large spa tub with shower and a sliding panel that allows views to the room and the ocean beyond.

Spacious two room suites feature a large living and dining area with floor to ceiling panoramic windows. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a private veranda. Split bathroom arrangement offers a powder room, a separate spa tub/shower area, and a master dressing area with dual sink and vanity, and a full wardrobe. Celebrity Suites are located close to the Retreat with a private restaurant, exclusive lounge, and a private pool area complete with its own pool bar.

Two room suites feature a large living and dining area with floor to ceiling panoramic windows that provide stunning views from every angle. King-sized bed that faces the panoramic window and overlooks the private veranda and the sea beyond. Large soaking tub with a separate shower, double sink vanity, and a sliding panel that opens to views of the sea. Located close to the Retreat that features a private restaurant, exclusive lounge, and a private pool area complete with its own pool bar.

The room's design features a panel (located behind the bed) that opens, serving as entry door for the bathroom (the panel is mirrored on the bath side). The bathroom has an oval-shaped hot tub combined with shower.

When combined with an adjacent Sunset Veranda cabin, aft-located Sky Suites can be booked as "Sky Family Suite" (SF).

Handicap suites (for disabled passengers) are all located on Deck 11 (room numbers 11120 and 11123). Both wheelchair-accessible suites are in Category S2 - sized 300 ft2 (28 m2) plus balcony sized 100 ft2 (9 m2).

Aqua-Class and Concierge-Class handicap cabins (for disabled passengers) are all located on Deck 9. These rooms are numbers 9225, 9226, 9227, 9228, 9229, 9230, 9321, 9232. Each wheelchair-accessible cabin (Category C2) is sized 300 ft2 (28 m2) and has a balcony sized 65 ft2 (6 m2).

Aqua-Class Cabin bonus amenities (additional perks) include priority services (check-In, luggage delivery, disembarkation), complimentary shoeshine service, premium robes and slippers, pillow menu, expanded room service menu, upgraded bathroom amenities (Hansgrohe-brand showerhead, additional bath amenities, premium towels), exclusive restaurants access (full breakfasts and dinners), dedicated spa concierge, complimentary Persian Gardens and Spa Relaxation room access.

Edge Veranda Infinity|French Balcony Cabin

Of all staterooms, 16 are single-occupancy cabins (designed for passengers traveling solo). These are Category ES cabins, each sized 140 ft2 (13 m2) with balcony sized 40 ft2 (4 m2). Single cabins can also be booked as twins as each has a single sofabed (for 2nd person).

Edge Veranda is an "Infinite Veranda" (French Balcony) stateroom - new for Celebrity Cruises category. The cabin is about 23% larger than Solstice-class balcony rooms, allowing King-size beds. Edge Veranda cabins feature a vanity table that slips under the desk. This way, the full-length lighted mirror (mounted on the wall) is better revealed.

Handicap cabins (for disabled passengers) are all located on Deck 8. These are room numbers 8230, 8232, 8234, 8236, 8239, 8241, 8243, 8245). Each wheelchair-accessible cabin (Category E1) is sized 305 ft2 (28 m2) and has balcony sized 65 ft2 (6 m2).

Balcony Cabin

Balcony Cabin amenities include King-size bed (premium mattress), mini-fridge (extra cost minibar), electronic safe (in the closet), Interactive HDTV (Internet, room service ordering, booking excursions, on-demand movies), hairdryer, bath products, private (step-out) balcony.

The aft-located Sunset Veranda cabins are smaller (230 ft2 / 21 m2) but with larger balconies (90 ft2 / 8 m2).

Oceanview Cabin

Handicap cabins (for disabled passengers) are numbers 8106 (Deck 8), 8109 (Deck 8), 9108 (Deck 9) and 9113 (Deck 9). Each wheelchair-accessible cabin (Category 6) is sized 350 ft2 (33 m2).

Oceanview Cabin amenities include King-size bed (premium mattress), mini-fridge (extra cost minibar), electronic safe (in the closet), Interactive HDTV (Internet, room service ordering, booking excursions, on-demand movies), hairdryer, bath products.

Interior Cabin

Handicap cabins (for disabled passengers) are numbers 9210 (Deck 9, 10180 (Deck 11) and 10182 (Deck 10). Each wheelchair-accessible cabin (Category 9) is sized 230 ft2 (21 m2).

Inside Cabin amenities include King-size bed (premium mattress), mini-fridge (extra cost minibar), electronic safe (in the closet), Interactive HDTV (Internet, room service ordering, booking excursions, on-demand movies), hairdryer, bath products.

Celebrity Apex cabins review

Celebrity Apex cruise ship has a total of 1467 staterooms for 2918 passengers (max capacity 3373) and 726 crew cabins (for 1320 crew /staff). Of all staterooms, 81% are Balcony, 10% Oceanview, 9 % Inside. The number of cabins with triple and quad occupancy is 1305. Connecting cabins are 178. Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 25.

Staterooms include 146 Sky Suites, 2 Penthouse Suites, 6 Edge Villas, 2 Iconic Suites, 918 Edge Staterooms (plus 16 accessible/handicapped cabins), 104 Aqua Class (Spa) Infinite Veranda (plus 2 accessible/handicapped), 284 Concierge Class Infinite Veranda (plus 6 handicapped), 178 connecting and 25 wheelchair-accessible cabins.

From all the 918 Edge Staterooms, 16 are studios (single-occupancy cabins for passengers traveling solo). The smallest cabin is sized 210 ft2 (20 m2 - "Inside Cabin"). Largest cabin is sized 1890 ft2 (176 m2) plus balcony sized 690 ft2 (64 m2 - "Iconic Suite").

Iconic Suite is new for the Celebrity Cruises cabin category. Iconic Suite's balcony is sized 690 ft2 (64 m2), while the stateroom is 1890 ft2 (176 m2). The suite is located above Navigation Bridge's wing. Its veranda has 1 whirlpool hot tub, shaded private cabana, outdoor lounge seating, live plants. Each Iconic Suite has 2 bedrooms (both with King-sized beds), 2 full-bathrooms, floor-ceiling windows, and offers 270-degree panoramic views.

Edge Villas are another new cabin category. Their passengers enjoy exclusive access to private plunge pools and also direct access to "The Retreat Sundeck".

Edge Veranda is an "Infinite Veranda" (balcony) stateroom - another new for Celebrity category. The cabin is about 23% larger than Solstice-class balcony rooms, allowing King-size beds and more storage (doubled drawer space). Cabin bathrooms are 10% larger than Solstice-class. Edge Veranda cabins have a vanity table that slips under the desk. This way, the full-length lighted mirror (mounted on the wall) is better revealed.

Edge Veranda ("Infinite Balcony") cabins have a unique feature. With the touch of a button, their doors fold away and the entire living room becomes a balcony. The Infinite window is electronically operated and sized 2,3 m (width) X 2 m (height) or 7,5 x 6,5 ft. It is horizontally divided into two panels (the upper moving over the lower, which is fixed at balcony height). The button is located near the window, at kids safe height.

Penthouse Suites were designed by Kelly Hoppen MBE. Each features a swing chair (Hanging Hoop Chair Brass by Lee Broom), a NAAS floor lamp (by Bruno Moinard), a Drew Fabric Swivel Chair (by RH Modern).

Each of the Sky Suites has King-bed (facing the balcony), spacious veranda (furnished with 1 rocking chair, pillows). The room's design features a panel (located behind the bed) that opens, serving as an entry door for the bathroom (the panel is mirrored on the bath side). The bathroom has an oval-shaped hot tub combined with a shower.

Personal butlers serve all Suite accommodations. Additional (bonus) perks often given for booking Suite cabins are free beverage package for 2 ("Classic Drinks Package"), onboard credit, unlimited free Wi-Fi, price-included gratuities.

Each The Retreat Suite is served by a dedicated butler (contacted via a WhatsApp chat function) allowing guests to message their butler at any time. The Retreat guests also enjoy complimentary services provided by a dedicated excursion expert, including personalized planning (for land-related activities) and arranging transportation/transfers for shore excursions. Suite-to-car butler escorts are available for private trips ashore.

All staterooms as standard amenities offer bathrobes, tote bags, smart HDTV (infotainment system, Internet, on-demand-movies), luxury bath toiletries, hairdryer, electronic safe box and lifejackets (in the closet), mini-bar, dual (110-220 V) power outlets. All staterooms are fitted with King-sized beds (hypoallergenic, highest-quality cashmere mattress / handcrafted by Matermoll, Italy) with deluxe bedding. Only single cabins are with Queen-sized beds. All staterooms have small touchscreens that control air-conditioning, lighting, shades/curtains, alarm (wake-up mode) and also have room service request icons. Each cabin is fitted with keyless room entry technology that uses digital keys (on smartphones), as well as standard keycards and RFID bands.

All cabin bathrooms are fitted with 1 electrical outlet (for a hairdryer). In the cabin's lounge area, USB ports are concealed in a desktop box. Near the vanity/dressing table are located the power outlets (the US and European plugs). All staterooms can be opened via a smartphone app (implementing facial recognition software).

The 24-hour room service menu includes cold and hot breakfast items (cereals, fruits, eggs, pancakes, also daily soups, salads, fast food (burgers, sandwiches, pizza, desserts, vegetable lasagna, steaks, quesadillas), also items from the main dining room's dinner menu. The room service order is via the cabin phone or the interactive TV system.

IMPORTANT: Celebrity Cruises charges USD 3,95 for late-night room service orders (between 11 pm and 6 am). This is an extra service charge implemented fleetwide (including on the Beyond ship). Passengers exempted from the new room service fee are the occupants of higher-grade cruise accommodations (Aqua-class, Concierge-class and all Suites).

IMPORTANT: The daily replenished bottled water perk for AquaClass cabins is no longer available. AquaClass guests, along with passengers in Sky Suite and Celebrity Suite accommodations, now receive (free of charge) two bottles of water (9 oz / 250 ml) only once - upon embarkation. Still, AquaClass passengers enjoy the beverage package perk, so they can take bottles of water for free at any of the ship bars. Know that Celebrity Cruises drink packages are not available on trans-oceanic (including Transatlantic) crossings.

Celebrity Cruises ship gratuities (automatic tipping per person per day) are as follows - standard cabins (Inside, Oceanview,, Balcony) USD 13,50 (up from USD 12,95), AquaClass-ConciergeClass cabins (USD 14 / up from USD 13,45), Suites (USD 17 /up from USD 16,45). Daily gratuities are shared by the ship's service staff (dining, housekeeping, cabin stewards, etc).

The ship has Malta Registration. Originally dreamt up by the company so it could conduct legal weddings on board.

The Magic Carpet “elevator” lounge.

These are the “Baristas” in the Coffee and Cake Cafe “La Bacio”. The crew on boards seemed genuinely happy and we never had any bad service in the public areas.

The funnel of the Apex is in the form of an X, referring to the days that the company was called Chandris Cruises which is spelled with an X in Greek. It came forth out of the emigrant carrier days and then in 1990 revamped itself into a 5 star cruise company by building three new ships.

The Grand Plaza. Very nice room but all the glass around it and reflective ceiling made it very noisy. This photo was taken early on a port morning.

The hallways are fairly small. When the cabin steward trolleys are out, it is impossible for wheel chairs to get by, and results in much maneuvering by the stewards to make it happen.

Our cabin.   The small table with the chair can pushed in if you like for more room to walk around the bed. It would have been nice if there would have been some extra storage space above the bed. There is plenty of room for a few cabinets. (photo picked from the internet as I do not have a wide angle on the camera)

The enclosed balcony with the top part window that opens. By using the buttons on the left you can open and close the top part and also lower a night black out screen from the top.

The ship has a 2nd show lounge, which is ls also used as a disco in the evening and cruise staff activities during the day.

Another view of the Tuscan restaurant, with one of the large tables. As this was a 4 day taster cruise, many larger family’s had taken the opportunity to take a cruise for family celebrations and these tables were in high demand in all restaurants.

The view of the Theatre from the stage. We found that the best place to sit was on the light brown rows near the steps. But for that you have to be early.

The Craft & Social Bar on Deck 4 portside. We managed to get in on a port day when it was quiet just after opening time.

This is a view of the “Normandie” one of the 4 free restaurants on board. It was not our favourite as it had not much atmosphere but it had some French dishes on the menu

When walking aft to the Eden room you have to walk through a rather surreal walkway with silver walls. Although most art has a descriptive plaque with it, I could not find one for this one, so I have no idea what this is supposed to be ? Celebrity in winter time ?

This is the restaurant “Blu”. It is for the guests who travel in the “Aqua Class”. There are two more of these restaurants, reserved for guests for the higher classed cabins.

The “Cosmopolitan Restaurant”. located on Deck 4 aft. On the opposite side the the “Cyprus” and a deck below, next to each other the “Tuscan” and the “Normandie”

Shops on board. The retail area is very extensive and with a large section of upscale jewellery and clothing. Mere mortals like us, took advantage of the reasonable Duty free liquor prices.

For those who want to walk there is a jogging/walking track on Deck 14  which loops around the pool area and the Roof top café.  it is a nice idea to split the track up in fast and slow, but I wonder if it works as a lot of “walkers” tend to walk as a couple and the path is not wide enough for that.

Another Restaurant with a cover charge called “Raw on 5”, meaning that this is a fish restaurant with a lot of Sushi. (But I also saw them doing a sort of “Fish and Chips”.

Now this I really liked. Hand wash station at the entrance to the Ocean View Cafe. There was also a Lady permanently on duty to give a disinfectant squirt for your hands before walking in. Unfortunately it was shocking to see how many guests ignored both the the hand wash station and the Lady. And then they all complain later when the ships are getting Norovirus.

Celebrity also has a children’s program with two lounges tucked away on Deck 2 near the ships hospital.  This is the teens which was empty on a port day, and then there is a space for 4 to 12 (or similar ages) which had a group of small girls all fully engrossed in a movie called “Frozen”.

With Led screens and good lighting you can put a lounge in flames. This show was called “Rockumentary” a tribute to the most well known rock groups and singers. Nice thing was that everybody was encouraged to take photos and videos of the show, while on most other ships there is always a stern warning not to do so.

All through the ship there is art. Some very large pieces and some very quirky. We came across this one in the smoking area outside the Eden. It is called “Looking Beyond” by Joaquin Vila. As it was raining the crew had put a warning out for the slippery deck and by creating a kneeling figure it looks like it that the artist was anticipating this.

And another one on Deck 14 at the roof top grill entrance. This is by another Spanish artist called Jaume Plensa and the sculpture is called “Duality”

The only seat that was nearly always available was this piece of art (with a nice Lady sitting on it) outside the “EDEN lounge ” entrance. It is called “Empower Flower” and made of fiberglass by the Brazilian artist Ruben Robierb.

Funny 2: I liked the maintenance sign used by the sailors carrying out maintenance. It generates a smile which takes the immediate annoyance away and this looks so much better.

President's cruises demystified: what's the hype all about.

With Celebrity Cruises heading to the Norwegian fjords with a President’s Cruise for the first time, it’s the ideal one-off voyage to promote to enthusiastic sailors, says head of sales Nicola McNeish 

Celebrity Cruises is encouraging agents to take advantage of the golden sales opportunity provided by its first ever President’s Cruise in the Norwegian fjords. The one-of-a-kind sailing departs on 17 May 2025 onboard Celebrity Apex, and will combine the spectacular landscapes of the fjords with excursions tailored for history buffs, foodies and adventure seekers in Norway’s cities and villages.

Nicola McNeish, head of sales, UK and Ireland, says: “Guests can soak up the magic and culture of picturesque Norway with an exciting array of to-be-announced shore excursions, special events and unique experiences only offered on the 2025 President’s Cruise.”

Celebrity Cruises’ President’s Cruise is held annually, offering a rare opportunity for cruise enthusiasts to engage with Celebrity Cruises executives, including ship captains from across the fleet and, of course, the company’s president, Laura Hodges Bethge, as well as experience exclusive activities that aren’t offered on any other sailing.

McNeish adds: “For our president and executive team, a President’s Cruise provides an opportunity to experience Celebrity Cruises through our guests’ eyes and spend quality time with our members and crew. During a President’s Cruise, guests might spot our executive team working front of house in restaurants, hosting cocktail parties and even taking a turn on the decks for exclusive DJ sets!”

This year’s President’s Cruise took place in the Caribbean onboard Celebrity Beyond, when the programme for sea days featured a pool party with members of the Team USA Artistic Swimming team and entertainment from Guinness World Record holding hula hoopers. There was also an Officers versus Guests pool volleyball game, umpired by Hodges Bethge. Onshore excursions hosted by the executive team included a private lunch at Grand Old House, the oldest dwelling on Cayman Island; there was a private beach party in Bimini, Bahamas; and surprises at Royal Caribbean Group’s private island CocoCay ranged from jet ski and flyboard stunt performers to Caribbean Junkanoo bands.

President’s Cruises tend to be highly anticipated voyages for loyalty members from Celebrity Cruises’ Captain’s Club, McNeish explains. Members are treated to exclusive events, special gifts, local entertainment and unique shore excursion experiences, as well as the opportunity to meet the shoreside teams. There’s also a chance for loyalty members to gain answers to all their burning questions at a special “Conversation with Celebrity” session during the sailing.

ADDING VALUE

The annual sailing is one of a number of perks for Captain’s Club members, which also include stateroom upgrades, discounts for spa treatments and exclusive invites to cruise club events onboard. Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean Group recently announced an industry-first one-for-one tier matching across all three Royal Caribbean group brands: Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and Silversea. This expanded Loyalty Status Match gives Captain’s Club members even more benefits, with over 50 ships sailing to nearly 1,000 destinations across all seven continents.

However, it’s not only loyalty club members who get to enjoy elevated benefits, as all guests sailing during a President’s Cruise have the chance to join in exclusive activities and “behind the scenes” experiences that don’t happen on sailings at any other time of the year. McNeish says: “There’s a great opportunity for agents to make this added value clear to potential guests looking to book with Celebrity Cruises next year.”

Agents should ensure their die-hard cruise clients are aware of the sailing and are booking early to avoid disappointment, she advises. “For loyal members, there is truly no sailing experience quite like a President’s Cruise, with the opportunity to bond with fellow Captain’s Club members, make new friends and create unforgettable shared memories. It is easily a must-do experience for cruise enthusiasts.”

Royal Caribbean ’s President’s Cruise is an annual event, offering the chance to set sail with president and chief executive Michael Bayley on a special voyage. The next cruise is due to take place on Utopia of the Seas, departing Port Canaveral on 22 September 2025. The four-night itinerary will explore Nassau in the Bahamas and Perfect Day at Coco Bay, as well as promising celebrity guest entertainment and other exclusive events.

Silversea ’s equivalent is the Venetian Society Reunion Voyages, with president Bert Hernandez in attendance. The next departure is set for October, which will be a 16-day voyage on Silver Nova from Tokyo to Singapore.

Uniworld has also offered a President’s Cruise every year for a number of years now. The most recent departure hosted by president and chief executive Ellen Betteridge took place in June, onboard Super Ship Victoria, the latest addition to the Uniworld fleet, sailing one of its most popular itineraries, Castles Along the Rhine.

Chris Townson, UK managing director said: “The President’s Cruise is something our most loyal and regular guests really enjoy and look out for each year. It includes time with Ellen Betteridge, who shares her anecdotes, insight and experience from across Uniworld’s fleet and destinations, and also features exclusive activities and surprises that are only available on this special departure, so guests can be assured that they are in for a cruise like no other.” Meanwhile, Viva Cruises is offering an Ambassador Cruise this winter, from 14-18 December onboard Viva Two. Loyal guests can meet Andrea Kruse, chief executive of Viva Cruises and attend a blue and white gala dinner (Viva Cruises' colours) as the ship glides from Passau to Vienna and back.

Raygun filmed demonstrating dance moves alongside billionaire and Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson on cruise ship

Viral breakdancing sensation Raygun has been filmed getting down alongside a prominent billionaire on a cruise ship, with the controversial Olympian teaching onlookers her moves. 

Olympian B-girl Rachael 'Raygun' Gunn has been filmed having fun while getting down alongside Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson on a cruise ship. 

On Saturday, the 37-year-old, who went viral for her Olympic breakdancing performance, busted out moves next to the English billionaire businessman on the Virgin Voyages Celebration Voyage sailing in the Mediterranean.

Gunn, a lecturer at Macquarie University in Sydney, made waves when she showed off her unique dancing at the Paris Games as she competed against the world’s best. 

Her moves included the sprinkler, jumping around like a kangaroo and mimicking a snake.

The viral B-girl was invited on stage to bust out her moves, and revealed what  breakdancing means to her.

“It’s all about relaxing, it’s about having fun and it’s about being yourself, and I just totally love that,” she said.

She demonstrated her moves before Branson performed her iconic kangaroo hop, which amused the Olympian.  

Raygun then proceeded to teach the cruise-goers a breaking routine, instructing them to follow along with her.

Branson then takes her hand and the pair jump into the pool together.

UK singer-songwriter Boy George also made an appearance and spoke at the event, following a private photo emerging of he and Raygun enjoying a meal together in Amsterdam.

In the snap posted to Instagram, Raygun was eating at a table alongside her husband and sitting across from the UK celebrity, whose real name is George Alan O'Dowd.

The photo captioned “break the internet” showed the Olympian smiling and looking casual dressed in a purple T-shirt. 

In a major interview on Channel Ten’s The Project on Wednesday, the 37-year-old spoke of how Branson had reached out to her as she opened up on her new-found fame.

“It’s not just breakers that you have respected for a decade,” she said.

“It’s someone like Sir Richard Branson calling you to say that he enjoyed your performance and he thought that it was plucky, and courageous and fun.

“And you know he would love to… have me on some cruises with Boy George.

“Like what is life? I don’t know.”
