Transportation: Not offered at this time. All guests meet at the Blue Hawaiian location in the General Aviation area of Honolulu Airport which is accessed from Lagoon Drive (not from the main terminal area).

What to Wear: Dress comfortably, because their aircraft is temperature controlled. Wear dark clothing to minimize reflection in photos. Smartphones are allowed and must be in airplane mode. Selfie sticks, extendable wands, iPads, tablet computers are not permitted. No hats, scarves, bandanas, purses, bags or camera bags.

Restrictions: Passengers weighing over 240lbs will be required to purchase a comfort seat at 50% of the retail value. For your safety, please do not scuba dive within 24 hours of departure.

Reservations: A credit card is required in order to finalize your reservation with Blue Hawaiian and they will charge for your seats at the time your space is confirmed by their office.

Minimum Notice for Cancellations / Changes: At least 48 hours before the start of the event.

It never ceases to amaze us that people spend thousands of dollars to come to Hawaii, but think it is too expensive to spend another $300 or so to REALLY see the islands from a helicopter. There is so much beauty that you cannot see any other way. Do yourself a favor and SPLURGE! You will thank us.

Best time of day to fly? Mid-morning provides the best lighting and least cloud cover. These times are the most popular and sell out in advance; you have an advantage over most people if you are reading these words before you come to Hawaii. Get your reservation made now so that you can get the best flight time available.

A word about body weights ... almost all helicopter companies in Hawaii charge extra for passengers who weigh over 250 pounds. In the case of Blue Hawaiian's wide bodied Eco-star helicopters that line is slightly higher at 260 pounds. Guests who weigh over 260 pounds will be charged a capacity surcharge of 50% of the cost of a second seat. When you make a reservation you need to include your body weight and PLEASE be VERY ACCURATE when you state your body weight ... this information is required by the FAA for the safe balance of the aircraft. Understating one's body weight can cause real problems at flight time, and in extreme cases can cause someone to be bumped from the flight without a refund.

The exact seating in the aircraft is determined at the flight time based upon safely balancing the aircraft. For those who REALLY want to sit up front and don't mind paying extra to guarantee it, FIRST CLASS seating is now offered by Blue Hawaiian for $100 per seat (and you have to buy BOTH seats). Because of the weight and balance issues with the aircraft, not everyone can be accommodated in first class seating. When making a reservation using the form on the right side of this page, include a note in the form field where the passenger weights are listed that says "first class seating please." If you are a party of more than two and request first class seating for everyone, you will be split up between multiple flights. In our opinion the upgraded seating isn't worth it. It's a lot more fun to fly together!

This is the best choice for those who are somewhat nervous about taking a helicopter flight. The combination of the newest aircraft with the latest in technology, collision avoidance, and other safety features and operated by a company with Blue Hawaiian's reputation should give you a boost of confidence.

• For your safety, please do not scuba dive within 24 hours of departure.
• If you are prone to motion sickness, taking a precautionary anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea. However, the flights are very smooth, and turns are slow and gentle. This is a professional scenic tour, not a thrill ride. Most people do not experience motion sickness and do not need an anti-motion sickness medication.
• All tours are wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. Each base also has a custom-built chair lift to assist passengers into the helicopter safely and comfortably. Chair lifts are able to accommodate passengers up to 250 lbs.

What To Bring

• Wear solid dark-colored clothing.  This will cause less reflection in the windows to allow a clear view of all the sights. It will also allow you to take better photos and video without clothing items or light-colored logos or patterns from your clothing reflecting in the photos that you and other guests would like to take of the magnificent scenery.
• The helicopters are temperature controlled so dress comfortably.

• From Waikiki (8mi, 20-30min): Head west on the H1 Freeway towards Honolulu International Airport. Take exit 18 to merge onto Nimitz Highway (HI-92W). Turn left onto Lagoon Drive and then right onto Kaulele Place. Go straight to the end of the road and pass through the gate. Parking is free.
• Please Note: Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is a Part 135 On-Demand Air Carrier. Preferred times may be adjusted due to demand and availability. Flight departures are approximate and may change according to seasonality.

This is to help properly balance the aircraft and ensure the comfort of all passengers. For each guest weighing more than 240 lbs., an adjacent, empty seat purchase is required.

Is there a safe place to store my belongings during the flight?

Personal belongings can be safely stored at the Blue Hawaiian Helicopters office prior to your departure.

Can you get a guaranteed window seat? Will you need to pay extra for this?

Seating is determined by computer software used to balance the helicopter. Upgrades are not offered for guaranteed window seating. If you are a party of two people, one person will be guaranteed a window seat.

We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last minute availability is often possible, but limited.

How many people are there per flight?

Helicopters can hold up to six (6) passengers plus the pilot.

Do you make a video of the flight tour?

Yes. Every flight is captured in high-quality video. Each helicopter is equipped with four cameras; three external and one in the cabin. The video recording begins during the boarding process. The recording is continuous until landing and includes digital quality music chosen to complement the changing scenery, plus all the pilot's narration. The video is available for purchase right after you return from your flight.

Do you recommend taking anti-motion sickness medication?

The flights operated by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters' professional pilots are very smooth and turns are slow and gentle. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, taking a precautionary anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea.

Front-Row Seat Reservation

Combined front row seat weight must be under 470 lbs and individual passenger weights must be 240 lbs. Should actual weights during check-in exceed any of these limits guests will be accommodated in other seats and a refund will be made for the premium upgrade fee. Front row passengers must occupy their own seats and must be able to refrain from interfering with the pilot and instrumentation. At least one of the front seat occupants must be 15 years of age or older and capable of performing emergency aircraft egress procedures. Lap children cannot be accommodated in the front row. In the event of an emergency front row passengers must be able to receive instructions in English and be physically capable of operating exit doors. Our chair lifts are only able to access the rear row of seats therefore guests requiring a chair lift to board the helicopter cannot be accommodated in the front row.
