2007 Chrysler Grand Voyager Reviews

2007 chrysler grand voyager lx signature 3.3 petrol from australia and new zealand.

Comfortable, roomy people mover

At 53000 kms, the auto transmission died. Luckily it was still under its 3 year warranty. Dealer had to source new box from O/S. Only 3 available world wide. Fixed in 2 weeks, now back on the road, and no further problems so far.

General Comments:

Great people mover, although very expensive to buy. Plenty of room for a tribe of kids, a couple of dogs and luggage. Came standard with DVD, climate control, leather seats, sat nav, and heap of other bits and pieces. Looked at Tarago VW Caravelle & Caddy life, but I didn't feel they were up to the Chrysler. Would recommend to a large family.

2007 Chrysler Grand Voyager CRD LX 2.8 diesel from South Africa

Luxury at its best when you still have kids

Computer chip not reliable, keeps cutting the engine power. Agents can't find the problem.

The problem only happens when the fuel pedal is used for quickly over-taking, which then becomes a very dangerous situation. Started on 60000 km just after service.

Excellent driving experience, especially with a big family. The stow-a-go helps a lot.

Just a needs a reliable computer chip, or whatever is wrong.

2007 Chrysler Grand Voyager Executive XS CRD 2.8 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

An American tank with sheer presence on the narrow UK roads

Nothing that I knew of in the short time I owned it.

This is not my daily car; it was a rental for a few weeks whilst I was working out of my hometown. In the United Kingdom, a car like this is frowned upon for being of a sheer size to be suitable for manoeuvring.

Comfort: There is adequate to good space, even when seven people are in the car, and that can be seven fully mature adults or a mixture of adults and adolescents. The seats themselves (grey leather in this particular model) are extremely comfortable, especially the middle two which can recline to a considerable angle. The back seats, whilst not reclinable, are shaped well.

Performance: This was never going to be a sports car, and one shouldn't expect it to perform or handle like one. But for the dimensions it has an adequate (diesel) engine and pulls well even fully loaded. Along B-roads like the ones we had to take each day to work, there was some body roll if a corner was taken at too high a speed, but nothing major. Low range (marked as 'L' under the 'D' on the gearbox is useful for ascending and descending steep hills on country roads.

The gearbox itself is column-mounted, which can take some getting used to, but it frees considerable space in between the front seats.

Engine: A 2.8 diesel developing somewhere around 170 horsepower. There is a clatter sound on start-up which is not so prominent in other diesel cars, but maybe Chrysler use an older unit here. Acceleration is probably around 12 seconds to 60mph (100km/h) and top speed around 120-125mph (200km/h). The number of standard features on the car plus the size make it over two tonnes in weight, and nearly three when full.

Looks: If only for the looks I would choose this as my family car. The only other MPVs which come close in this department are the new Renault Espace/Grande Espace and the new Ford Galaxy. The larger rear window which is a feature only on the Grand Voyager stands out from a standard Voyager. The Grand Voyager has been around for ten years almost unchanged in looks with only minor face-lifts which says it all (although the Galaxy remained the same for a long time, and the Sharan/Alhambra are still being made to the same design)

Safety: The only real weak point of the Chrysler Grand Voyager. When the standard Voyager was NCAP crash-tested at the end of the '90s it scored very poorly indeed for such a large vehicle of a category whose safety is imperative for the protection of entire families. Ford's Galaxy and even Korean MPVs fared much better. Hopefully things have improved with the updated models.

Equipment: Being top of the range, there is not only the standard such as power-steering and air-con, but individual climate control, cruise control, electric driver's seat and even an electrically-operated sliding door and boot release, which can be operated both from the key fob and buttons positioned above the driver's seat. Cruise control is a great feature, especially returning along the motorway in the evening when there is hardly any traffic about. And to deactivate it you simply press on the accelerator or the brake, and the car acts perfectly normal once again.

Overall: Having not had much of an opinion for these cars before now, I was pleasantly surprised by the Grand Voyager. If it were my own car things may have been slightly different (i.e the heavy running costs would have hit me - don't forget we are talking £30,000 new!) but on the plus side, the tank-like dimensions mean that driving another car such as my daily driver (a Nissan Micra) is just that bit easier.

Try one. You might be taken away with it, or you might just love it for the 'wow' factor.

Which Years Of Used Chrysler Voyagers Are Most Reliable?

Black Chrysler Voyager

Chrysler Voyager by Rudolf Stricker - CC-BY-SA-4.0

The popularity of minivans had indeed declined compared to their peak in the early 2000s. This change in consumer preference is primarily due to the rise of SUVs and crossover vehicles, which became popular due to their versatility, off-road capability, and stylish design. That said, minivans still hold a significant market niche and are popular among certain buyers, particularly families.

When it comes to minivans, the most popular options include the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Chrysler Pacifica. However, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly minivan, you should probably check out the Chrysler Voyager.

First launched in 1988, the Voyager has seen several redesigns, each time adapting to new trends and technologies. Basically, Chrysler took the lowest trim of the Pacifica and converted it into the Voyager from an old Plymouth model.

THE CHRYSLER VOYAGER YEARS TO AVOID

To prevent wasting time and money on your next car, avoid purchasing Voyager years with extensive issues. Read on to learn more about the Chrysler Voyager years to avoid , the worst overall year, and other critical information.

If you’re searching for the most reliable Chrysler Voyager year, you’ve come to the right place. For today’s buyers’ guide, we look at recent Voyager models to determine the most reliable years and models to avoid.

2000-2003 Chrysler Voyager

With the 2000 model, all Plymouth Voyagers became Chrysler as the former brand was phased out. Then, the 2001 model year marked a significant redesign for the aging minivan.

Avoid: 2000 Chrysler Voyager

The 2000 Chrysler Voyager is harder for us to recommend due to its age and known reliability issues. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2000 Voyager recorded 171 complaints and eight recalls. One of the main reasons why you should avoid this model year is the problematic transmission.

A frustrated owner claimed their van produced a whistling sound after the warranty of 30,000 miles ran out at 40,000 miles. Eventually, the transmission just failed to shift. Even though the dealership fixed it, the transmission acted up again at 103,000 miles. Replacing or rebuilding the transmission may cost you thousands.

FEEL SECURE IN THE CAR YOU CHOOSE

You don’t want to buy a car - you want to get the best deal on the car you’re looking for. The CoPilot app will notify you if there’s a similar vehicle in your area at a better price, so you’re always certain you got the best deal available.

Avoid: 2001 Chrysler Voyager

Although the 2001 Chrysler Voyager was more reliable than last year, this redesigned minivan had numerous complaints and issues. Some commonly reported issues include transmission problems and engine issues.

As for the transmission problem, many owners have complained about experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Shifting Problems: Some owners have reported issues with the transmission not shifting properly, or refusing to shift into certain gears. This can cause the vehicle to feel sluggish or unresponsive.
  • Premature Transmission Failure: In some cases, owners have reported complete transmission failure at relatively low mileage.
  • Transmission Leaks: Some Chrysler vehicles, including the Voyager, have been reported to develop leaks in the transmission, which can cause the transmission fluid to drop to unsafe levels and cause damage.
  • ‘Limp Mode’ Issues: Some vehicles may go into “limp mode,” a safety feature designed to protect the engine and transmission from further damage by limiting the vehicle’s speed.

At CoPilot, except for a few exceptions, we always recommend avoiding the first production or redesign years of any car because of potential issues not caught during testing – the 2001 Voyager is no exception.

THE BEST USED SUVS UNDER $10,000

We looked into price, reliability, features, and more to create this list of the best used SUVs under $10k on the market today. Take a look - some of the best used SUVs have gone mostly overlooked or forgotten.

Buy: 2003 Chrysler Voyager

For the first lineup of the minivan, the most reliable Chrysler Voyager year is the 2003 iteration. For starters, it doesn’t have too many complaints, and the few ones that are there are mostly minor issues. Most complaints filed via the NHTSA were about the Voyager’s electrical system .

A complainant reported that while cruising at 50 mph, the lights inexplicably began to flash on and off, and ultimately turned off completely. This issue first occurred when the car had approximately 30,000 miles on the odometer, and according to the complainant, it has progressively worsened since its onset.

Regardless, such reports are infrequent and primarily consist of minor issues.

2020-2022 Chrysler Voyager

In 2020, Chrysler brought back the voyager after a long hiatus. This time, the Chrysler Voyager was slotted below its more popular sibling, the Pacifica, and marketed as the lower-cost offering.

Buy: 2020 Chrysler Voyager

The return of the Voyager was met with positive reception from customers and critics alike. CarandDriver gave the 2020 Voyager a respectable rating of 8.5 out of 10, citing affordable pricing and good fuel economy as the minivan’s strengths.

Under the hood, the 2020 Voyager was identical to the Pacifica, housing a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower and offers a good balance of power and efficiency. Like other minivans, the Voyager provides plenty of room for passengers and cargo. It can seat up to seven passengers and features Chrysler’s innovative Stow ‘n Go seating for added cargo flexibility.

As a relatively newer model, there’s little data about the Voyager’s reliability. As such, there are little to no complaints regarding this model year. Safety-wise, the 2020 Voyager had an impressive performance in NHTSA’s various crashworthiness tests and earned a 5-star overall safety rating . The 2020 Voyager includes a rearview camera as a standard feature, with available advanced safety features like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

THE BEST USED LUXURY CARS ON THE MARKET

Buying a used or CPO luxury car is one of the smartest buys you can make - you can get a lot of car for not much money. You can pick up a three-year-old luxury car for about half of what you’d pay new. Check out this list of the best used luxury cars on the market to find the best deals.

Buy: 2021 Chrysler Voyager

This year marked the discontinuation of the Grand Dodge Caravan, which means your budget minivan option has shrunken down to one: the Chrysler Voyager. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager had generally favorable reviews, particularly for its affordability and practicality as a minivan.

The 2021 Chrysler Voyager was powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower. This gives the Voyager minivan a 0-60 mph acceleration in 7.3 seconds – pretty good for a family-oriented vehicle.

Regarding safety, the 2021 Voyager comes equipped with a basic set of standard safety features. However, the most advanced safety features are only optional add-ons, whereas many competitors offer these as standard. Despite this, the 2021 model has been awarded a 5-star rating from the NHTSA and has generally received positive evaluations from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

On the downside, as of 2023, the Voyager lacked comprehensive reliability data and has not been rated by organizations like J.D. Power or Consumer Reports. Nonetheless, the minivan has registered very few complaints and has only been subject to a single recall. This is a good sign for the vehicle’s quality and potential long-term reliability.

j'apprécierais vraiment d'avoir votre feed-back.

2007 Grand voyager problems

  • Add to quote

Hi from the uk. I bought a grand voyager on the 13th of feb this year and since then its been to the dealers 3 times and having to go in again next week. Its had fitted just before i bought it 4 new wheels as the paint came off the old ones ,a cat converter, also a new steering rack so im told but it doesnt look new to me.since i bought it its had a clock spring,2 tie rod ends, an exhaust gasket, starter fixed,i fixed one speaker ,sliding door fixed, interior light fixed, rear washer fixed. and next week its having an air con compressor as thats leaking.I was wondering if this is what to expect from ownership or wheather I have just bought a bad one. Having not even had it 6 weeks its giving us a lot of trouble allready.I also think the dealer is getting tired of hearing from me. I know im tired of phoning them.:angry1: 49800 miles full service history

avis chrysler voyager 2007

Overall, the reliability of the 4th generation van is pretty good. Most common problems are minor, and simple to fix. Our '07 van has had a ton of warranty work also (3 A/C compressors, 2 belt tensioners, 1 replacement alternator, 4 sets of sway bar bushings, a leaky A/C drain line, and a pinhole in the OEM battery requiring complete powertrain harness replacement due to cable end corrosion). I think we just got a bad one. Our '03 was pretty trouble-free. Others with '07s here have fairly trouble-free vans. Sometimes you just get a bad one it seems. Chrysler has been mediocre to deal with. I won't buy another new one from them, but I'd buy a used 4th gen any day of the week because, overall, problems are pretty simple to repair.

I couldnt afford a new one even if i wanted one they are £28000/$41500 at todays exchange rate plus £505/$750 road tax for every year or £34350/50900 for the limited model and to top it off fuel is £5:40/$8 per gallon uk= 4.5 litre. Is there a how to for changing the stereo or at least getting in to the dash.

To get to the radio, you'd simply have to pull straight back on the large bezel that surrounds the radio. It should pop off the dash after some careful prying. After that, I believe the radio is attached to the dash with four screws.

Fantastic .Thanks

To pull the bezel around the radio off, you need to remove two screws underneath a small trim panel just above the cup holders. Pry this trim piece off, and it conceals the two screws at the bottom of the bezel. Then, just (carefully) yank it out -- just clips holding it. There are some pics of the bezel on this forum -- or search ebay for parts and look at the pics.

Well, we bought our 2007 T&C brand new. We love the van, but we have had both front window regulators replaced, the battery replaced, the tailgate dampeners replaced, the passenger side slider repaired, the driver side slider repair twice, and I just finished replacing the power steering reservoir myself as it is now out of warranty. Chrysler seems to be lacking in their reliability. We're at 40,000 miles now. Will be praying on the way to church today as we drive the van. Good luck, we'll throw a prayer in for you folks too.....sounds like you've been through a lot with your van.

  • Who are the Volga Germans?
  • Settlements along the Volga

Mapping information provided by Sandy Payne germansfromrussiasettlementlocations.org

Drawing of Saratov in 1711 - approximately 50 years before the arrival of the Volga German immigrants. Source: Steve Schreiber.

Saratov was home to both a Lutheran parish and a Roman Catholic parish which served the ethnic Germans living in this city.

CONGREGATIONS

St. Clement Catholic Church

St. John Lutheran Church

St. Mary Lutheran Church

The Lutheran parish in Saratov was officially organized in 1793, although Pastor Ahlbaum was active in the city before then.

The Pope established the Diocese of Tiraspol, headquartered in Saratov on 3 July 1848. During its existence, there were five bishops:

Ferdinand Helanus Kahn (1850-1864) Franz Xavier Zottmann  (1872-1888) Anton Johann Zerr  (1889-1902) Eduard von der Ropp (1902-1903) Joseph Aloysius Kessler  (1904-1930)

This diocese went inactive in 1930 with the resignation of Bishop Kessler and officially vacant in 1933 when he died. It was formally "surpressed" in 2002 when the new Diocese of St. Clement in Saratov was established.

The Catholic parishners of Saratov built a wooden church which was consecrated in 1805. This building was used until 1880 when a new brick building was erected. The architect was M. N. Grudistova, and the new building was consecrated to St. Clement (St. Klemens in German) when it was completed in 1881. Today the structure serves as a movie theatre called "Pioneer."

In the post-Soviet era, the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 2001 in Saratov. It is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria (ELCI). There is a chapel in Saratov, and the pastor serving there is Olav Panchu.

There were three frontier garrisons founded to protect merchant ships traveling on the Volga River: Saratov (1584), Samara (1586), and Tsaritsyn (1589). Over the next century, the settlements were rebuilt on first one side of the Volga and then the other following a series of natural disasters.  The 1670 peasant revolt led by Stepan Razin also thwarted development of these cities.

Saratov was the first point of arrival for the German colonists and the location of the Kontora (Office of Immigrant Oversite) following the establishment of the colonies in the 1760's. From its beginning as a provincial outpost, Saratov grew to become a prosperous city and served as the center of industry for the Volga German colonists.

Saratov: The city that almost came up overnight

The downtown with church in evening beams of the sun. Source: Shutterstock / Legion-Media

Once one of the Russian Empire’s largest cities, Saratov is home to a conservatory, one of Russia’s most famous and oldest circuses and perhaps the finest art collection in provincial Russia. Throw in long pedestrian avenues, the legacy of the Volga Germans and the mighty Volga River and you start to see the fuller picture of this city that was literally built over night.

Saratov is a great place to feel the immense grandeur of the Volga River. Saratov offers an unusual collection of architecture from the pre-revolutionary and Soviet period and its large center makes for an excellent place to take an aimless walk through centuries of Russian history literally living on top of each other.

The city which was built over night

Ukek, a Golden Horde city, was situated nearby until Tamerlane destroyed it in 1395. Saratov was founded in 1590 and soon became a popular stop between Europe and Asia. Located 858 kilometers southeast of Moscow, it was one of three lower Volga cities founded as forts to protect recently acquired territories at the Empire’s edge over a five-year span (1586-1590), along with present day Volgograd and Samara. Saratov was actually constructed significantly north of the city. The wooden buildings were disassembled, sent downstream and erected quickly allowing Saratov to appear practically overnight.

By the early 1800s Saratov had grown to be a significant port city and the railroad arrived in 1870. The city experienced a boom during World War II as many factories and institutes were relocated here, although it was closed during Soviet times as it was the site of a military aircraft manufacturing plant.

Saratov and neighboring city Engels (combined metro area today of over one million) were home to hundreds of thousands of Germans in the 18  th  , 19  th  and early 20  th  centuries. Originally invited by the Tsars to spur agricultural development in the area, the Volga Germans went on to hold prominent regional roles. Many were deported to Central Asia and Siberia during World War II, with many of those that remained immigrating to Germany in the 1980s.

The bridge connecting Saratov with its twin city across the Volga, Engels, was the longest in the Soviet Union when completed in 1965 at 2,826 meters long. The architecture is quite diverse on the Volga waterfront with luxury apartments mingling with log cabins. Make sure to see the Balneological Clinic for an example of an old sanatorium. There are numerous cafes along the river, as well as a pedestrian zone. From the River Port at St. Naberezhnaya Kosmonavtov 7a it is possible to take a cruise as far south as Astrakhan, as far north as St. Petersburg and all major cities on the Volga River, as well as Moscow. Cruises operate from early May until mid-September and a schedule can be found here:  rech-vokzal.ru .

Surprisingly, Saratov went three full centuries before a promenade was built along the river. One of the main attractions here is a statue dedicated to the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin. Gagarin first moved to Saratov to continue his studies in 1951 at the Saratov Industrial Technical School. He studied tractors and spent his weekends volunteering at a local aviation club where he learned to fly. He also worked part time on the Volga docks.

A walk through the city center

The city’s main artery is Moskovskaya St., which leads from the Volga through the heart of the city, however, Saratov’s soul can be found on Prospekt Kirova, one of Russia’s first pedestrian zones. Until 1917 it was known as Nemetskaya St. in honor of the large German population. Many sights are located here, as well as dozens of bars and restaurants. Several statues dot the landscape including a bronze statue of an accordion player and one of a young man waiting for his love with flowers as inspired by this  song about Saratov .

The Leonid Sobinov State Conservatory  opened in 1912 at Kirova 1 not far from the entrance to the charming Park Lipki. At the time it was only the third in the country as Saratov was then the third largest city in Russia and the largest on the Volga (16  th  largest today).

The Nikitin Bothers Circus  at the top of Kirova (away from the Volga) was the second stationary circus in Russia (the first is in Penza). This is probably the best place in town to see tigers and clowns under the same roof. Across the street is the Kryty Rynok, a covered market built in 1916. Behind the market is an example of a classic Soviet movie palace, Pobeda; it opened in 1955. If walking away from the circus towards the Volga there are well-preserved examples of proletarian communal buildings constructed in the 1920s on the left.

Also of note on the street is the cinema Pioneer at Kirova 11. It was previously a Catholic Church serving the German population. Partially destroyed during the Soviet period, a fragment of the original wall can be seen inside.

One block parallel to Kirova is Teatralnaya Square. Here is the  Saratov Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet , built in 1875. Across the square is  Radishchev Museum , featuring one of the finest art collections in provincial Russia. Named for the controversial 18  th  century writer who grew up nearby (and whose grandson provided the initial collection), this was the first art museum in Russia to open its doors to the public. Today it counts numerous famous Russian painters in its collections including works by Repin, Shishkin and Falk.

One of the city’s most famous residents is Nikolai Chernyshevsky (1828-1889). A socialist, philosopher and writer, he is best known for his 1863 utopian novel, “What is to be Done?” It tells the story of Vera Pavlovna, an emancipated woman and the ascetic revolutionary Rakhmetov, who sleeps on nails and eats raw steak. The book had an enormous influence on Lenin; today the main public university is named for him and  his museum  is located at Chernyshevskogo St. 142.

Park Pobedy is the city’s largest and is located at about three kilometers from the Volga. It hosts the National Village of the Peoples of Saratov Region, an open-air architectural and ethnographic museum.
