Enchanted forest water safari.

Sadly, the Killermanjaro speed slide with a 280-foot long descent where you reached speeds of over 30 miles per hour and the foam mat racer Serengeti Surf Hill were retired after the 2019 season. Fortunately, however, the fully enclosed Bombay Blasters speed slides remain, offering a disoriented descent in complete darkness that ends by blasting riders out several feet above the splash-down pool. It's a classic water park thrill ride.

For the 2020 season, three new rides replaced what was retired. Serengeti Stampeded is a new 293-foot long, four-lane mat racer that begins with enclosed, intertwined tubes. For thrill-seekers Mamba Strike and Killermanjaro's Revenge are respectively 285-foot and 207-foot long speed slides with a drop capsule.

Also, not to be missed is Raging Rapids an exciting white river that sends riders roaring down a twisting hillside tube chute.

Other rides include The Curse of the Silverback a double-rider tube ride that sends riders careening down a 100-foot drop into a giant 40-foot bowl that spins you in circles before flushing you into the splash pool below. Families can ride together on the Cascade Falls raft ride, one of the best of its kind in the country! Water Safari also has a wide selection of water rides sized just right for young children.

In addition to the water park, there are 8 classic amusement park rides, including a Ferris wheel, Rock-O-Plane, sky ride, and miniature train.

Enchanted Forest Water Safari officially opens for the summer

OLD FORGE, N.Y. — New York's largest water theme park, Enchanted Forest Water Safari, officially opens up for its 2022 season Wednesday. Families can enjoy more than 50 rides, including 33 heated water rides, play games, venture into shops, and even come across a bunch storybook characters throughout the park.

According to the theme park citing the Farmer's Almanac, those living in the state and northeast can expect a seasonably warm and drier summer, making for ideal water park weather.

There will be new features and changes visitors will notice this year, including eight new cabanas throughout the park:

• Two at the bottom of the park's newest rides – Serengeti Stampede, Mamba Strike, and Killermanjaro’s Revenge
• Two between the Wave Pool & Amazon River
• A couple more along the path from the Wave Pool to the Adirondack Expedition
• Plus, two more on Cabana Island in the Adirondack Expedition next to the Sawmill

There will be more entertainment options as well. The theme park said visitors can enjoy the twice-daily family circus show featuring acts from the Royal Hanneford Circus.

The park has also detailed expanded food options.

“We have outgrown our space in the old Boardwalk Fries building and due to the popular demand for Boardwalk Fries, it was time to expand,” said Katie Wojdyla, Vice President and Director of Marketing. Having the larger space will be more efficient with accommodating more guests, she added.

Water Safari Resort's "Stay 'N Play" package includes discounted lodging at the nearby camping resort (excluding cottages) or the Water's Edge Inn, the park said.

New Adventure Coming to Water Safari for 2024 Season

Something new is coming to Enchanted Forest Water Safari for the 2024 summer season.

The water park in Old Forge, new York doesn't open until June but the new owners are making a few changes before the gates open.

Innovative Attraction Management  (IAM), a company out of Florida, bought the water park along with Calypso’s Cove, the Old Forge Camping Resort, and Water’s Edge Inn.

IAM is a company that likes to create fun and safe experiences for families, focusing on theme parks, hotels, and campgrounds.

CEO for IAM, James Harhi said they are committed to preserving the park's legacy and have plans to "enhance guest experiences."

New Adventure for 2024

Guests will get to experience a new adventure this summer.

A new aerial adventures Ropes Course with Zipline will debut at Calypso’s Cove. Traverse the 2-level course through various features and obstacles up to 30ft in the air. The attraction's curved Zipline glides guests around the perimeter of the course.

The Ropes Course replaces the Batting Cages, Rock Climbing Wall, and Zipline.

“It’s a great attraction for families and groups to experience together for team building, bonding, agility, and fun. We look forward to watching the attraction come to life and to welcoming guests to experience it this summer,” said Cathy Dunlap, Water Safari Resort President.

Cooler Cut Backs

Cooler protocols are also changing at Water Safari.

Previously, everyone could bring a cooler with their food and beverages while enjoying a day at the park.

For the 2024 season, only season pass holders will be allowed to bring in a cooler and it can't be any bigger than 60 quarts.

New park owner James Harhi says exemptions will always be made for babies and anyone with special dietary needs. But the change is needed to help control what is brought into the park. "It is impossible for us to really inspect everything and get you in at a fast pass."

There is one thing that will be inspected. All bags will be checked at the entrance.

Tailgating still allowed.

Parkgoers who don't have the season pass may not be able to bring a cooler in but they can still bring food and drinks. It'll just have to be left in the car.

Harhi says tailgating will still be allowed and there are even plans to create some picnic table areas for anyone who wants to eat and drink outside the park.

Water Safari is expected to open for the 2024 season on Wednesday, June 12.

Season pass and one-day ticket prices will remain the same. Discounted tickets at area businesses will also be available for the new season.

East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda)

The greater availability of water allows wildlife to disperse. It also triggers many herbivores like wildebeest to give birth. The Great Migration – a wildebeest migration – occurs in East Africa in and around Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

One of the most amazing facets of the Great Migration is the zebra and wildebeest crossing the Mara River while doing their best to elude hungry crocodiles. Witnessing the crossing of the Mara is the highlight of a Kenya safari or a trip to the Serengeti.

Rwanda and Uganda

Rwanda and Uganda are both known for gorilla trekking and have two distinct wet seasons. While mountain gorillas are located in the rainforest, and it can rain any time, it can be an arduous hike to see them during the wet season due to muddy conditions and long downpours. April and May are generally the wettest time, followed by November and December.

White nights festival - russia's biggest celebration.

World festivals mark global events that are a must-see for any dedicated traveler. Although lesser known than major global favorites like Carnival or Burning Man , the White Nights Festival in Russia is a collision of culture, arts and music that provides one of the richest experience around.

Every May through July, the streets of St. Petersburg, Russia, come alive with colorful celebrations and performances by some of the world's most talented artists. The White Nights Festival is an international arts festival that takes place during the season of the midnight sun, when the Northern Light shines at both dawn and dusk, allowing the millions of festival-goers that visit each year the opportunity to celebrate all day and all night long.

A Cultural Celebration of Music and Arts

The festival celebrates the arts of opera, ballet, and classical music and is kicked off with the "Stars of the White Nights" at the world famous Mariinsky Theatre. The program presents the company's most exceptional productions, with performances by leading Russian and international artists, and combines famous historical productions along with new premieres and contemporary pieces. This year's program kicks off on May 27th and has featured nationally renowned productions like Swan Lake in the past. During the festival there are daily evening performances of either ballet or opera at the theatre and classical or opera musical performances at the Mariinsky Concert Hall. The series of performances always features some of the biggest names in the arts world, including famed Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, Russian operatic soprano Anna Netrebko , and Los Angeles Opera conductor James Conlon. Ballet performances have included revivals of Russian choreographer George Balanchine's classics, as well as contemporary dance versions of The Nutcracker and Cinderella. The performances are all widely attended and visitors' best bet would be to purchase tickets online in advance.

Carnivals - Fun for the Whole Family

Carnivals also occur during the White Nights Festival and allow both children and adults to delight in traditional games and fine food. The largest carnival is held in the suburb of Peterhof, where historical figures and events are reinterpreted by costumed actors. Carnivals at the Catherine Palace and in the Pavlovsk suburb of St. Petersburg are also known for their highly artistic reproductions of the historic events that took place at those palaces. For music lovers, St. Petersburg's Palace Square becomes home to some of the international music world's biggest stars during the festival. The large square has been used for official military parades and massive demonstrations, and has also been the site of recent concerts by legendary musicians like Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones.

Fireworks and Finales

The culminating event of the festival is the Scarlet Sails celebration, which is a massive event to celebrate the end of the school year that is known for its spectacular fireworks display and a water show that features boats full of pirates battling on the Neva River. Musical acts and motorboat and rowing races are also highlights of the celebration. The tradition began in St. Petersburg after the end of WWII, when several schools in Leningrad united to celebrate the ending of a school year in connection with symbolism of the popular children's book "Scarlet Sails" by Alexander Grin. At the first celebration a boat with scarlet sails sailed along the English Embankment and the Admiralty Embankment towards the Winter Palace.

Overall climate conditions of Moscow are considered as moderate continental. However number of features should be taken to account. Relief, urban land, parks and forest plantations provide features of the weather in different parts of the city.

I.e. regions protected by steep slopes of Sparrow Hills are having milder and warmer weather than neighborhood. In general severe frosts and exhausting heat aren’t usual in Moscow. However lately weather deviations become more frequent. There is probability of thaw at December and at summer cooling and showers are possible.

Spring in Moscow

In term of weather conditions March in Moscow is completely winter month. Range of air temperatures stays below 0 °C (32 °F) with drops to –15 °C (5 °F) at night. Cold weather alternates with short thaws and streets become slushy. Only at last decade of March actual spring comes to the city. Temperature shifts to positive range (above 32 °F) and snow thaws away.

However there always chances of early or late spring. In first case temperature rises to about 15 °C (59 °F) while late spring adds some snow at April. At May even night frosts are ceasing. Amount of daylight hours is increasing. There were year when May was hot with about 30 °C (86 °F). Last several days of the month are usually slightly colder, cloudy and rainy.

Period of summer weather in almost perfectly matches calendar. Sometimes it even lasts through first half of September when Indian summer comes. Weather conditions of June are uncertain. There is probability of cool and hot days and thunders. When cooling occurs night temperatures may drop to 5 °C (41 °F) and daytime heat may reach 30 °C (86 °F).

July is hot month when air warms up to 33 °C (91 °F) at day and never cools lover 17 °C (63 °F) at night. There are occasional showers but they are short. August is characterized by alteration of warm (up to 29 °C; 84 °F) and cold (below 20 °C; 68 °F) days. By the end of August average marks are lower for autumn is approaching.

At October weather become damp and dull with occasional night frosts yet at daytime air still warms up to 15 °C (56 °F). November is colder and even duller with probability of snow. Though snow cover thaws quickly for ground haven’t cooled down. This will last until late November.

Weather at January and February are usually formed under impact of Arctic or Siberian anticyclones. At this time range of average drops to -10 and –25 °C (+14…-13 °F). Snow cover reaches 700 mm (27.5”). Most of precipitation falls in form of snow however rains are possible too during thaws.
