A great pair of travel pants is a lot like a great friend: supportive without being restrictive and ready for any occasion. Look for breathable, moisture-wicking materials that won’t wrinkle in your suitcase or after hours on the airplane. A relaxed fit (or plenty of stretch if you opt for form-fitting leggings) is essential for freedom of movement on your adventures, while the ability to transition from day to evening wear with the right accessories is a major plus that cuts down on packing requirements.

Finding pants that meet all these criteria can seem difficult, which is why our team of travel experts took on the task of testing 40 of the most popular options currently on the market. We wore each pair in multiple scenarios from air travel to gym workouts for two weeks, then scored them for fit, comfort, quality, durability, design, and value to choose our favorites. Our overall winner was the Stretch High-Rise Jogger from Lululemon, with its super soft material; loose, breathable fit; and useful pockets. Here are all the travel pants we loved.

Final Verdict

How we tested.

Why Trust TripSavvy

Best overall, lululemon high-rise jogger.

  • Comfort 5 /5
  • Quality 5 /5
  • Durability 5 /5
  • Design 4.5 /5

Incredibly soft

Breathable and moisture-wicking

Versatile drawstring waistband

Some may prefer a slimmer cut

The Lululemon Stretch High-Rise Jogger may well be the perfect travel pant, with a classic, loose-fitting silhouette that we found supremely comfortable. Although they’re meant to be full-length, the tapered ankle means they look good even if they come up a little shorter on tall women, while the Luxtreme fabric’s combination of softness and stretchiness offers a slightly more elevated aesthetic than one might expect from a pair of joggers. Designed for breathability, the moisture-wicking fabric also handles temperature changes well (as proved when we tested them on a journey from chilly San Francisco to balmy Hawaii).

We loved the butter-soft waistband and the fact that while stretchy, these joggers also have a drawstring that you can cinch for a more tailored fit. The drawstring can be worn visibly or hidden inside for a more streamlined look. We also appreciated the extra-deep pockets, which held our phone securely even when sitting down. The pants also boast a hidden zipper pocket and card sleeve. Best of all, after multiple plane and car journeys (and three washes) the pants looked and felt brand new. Color choices are mostly muted and include kelly green, utility blue, and black.

Sizes: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 | Materials: Nylon, Lycra, elastane, polyester

Best Lightweight

Outdoor voices relay wide leg pant.

Public Lands

Easy-on elasticated waistband

Great freedom of movement

Generous pockets

Sizing is not particularly accurate

The mid-rise Relay Wide Leg Pants from Outdoor Voices score sustainability points with their recycled polyester and spandex construction. We also found the combination to be incredibly comfortable, even on a journey from New York City to Florida that involved several different modes of transport and a significant temperature change. The pants are breathable and lightweight without feeling cheap, with a decent amount of stretch. We loved the branded, elasticated waistband—no more struggling with zippers, buttons, or drawstrings while rushing for a flight.

The elasticity also gave us full freedom of movement while performing squats as part of our testing process. As a result, we feel the pants would be ideal for everything from all-day walking tours to hiking, biking, and working out on vacation. Spacious pockets are another highlight, although we noticed that anything weighty did tend to pull the pants down a bit. They come in black, oceanic (blue), and gravel (beige). We recommend sizing down for the best fit.

Best for Work

Quince 100 percent european linen pants.

  • Design 5 /5

Flattering, supportive shape

Wrinkle-resistant material

Elasticated for pull-on convenience

Multiple inseam lengths available in select colors only

Pockets are purely decorative

If you’re looking for pants that you can wear straight to a meeting after arriving at the airport, look no further than the Quince Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pants. They offer all the convenience of traditional travel pants, with an elasticated waistband for easy on and off and four-way-stretch fabric for complete freedom of movement. But, with their straight cut and thoughtful detailing (think belt loops and faux pockets on the front and back), they are also elegant enough for the boardroom.

We love that these pants are wrinkle-resistant, so you don’t need to waste time looking for an iron in your hotel room. And finding the right size is easy with three inseam lengths to choose from. Our tester wears an XL and has a pear-shaped body type. She loved the pants’ fit, finding them comfortable yet supportive with good tummy control (without feeling like shapewear). The only downside? We wish there were even more sizes to choose from and that all inseam lengths were available in every colorway.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL; 28-inch, 30-inch, 32-inch inseam | Materials: Rayon, nylon, spandex

Liverpool The Gia Glider Ankle Skinny Jean

Available in regular and tall lengths

Can be dressed up or down

Functioning pockets

Fit loosens slightly in between washes

Sometimes you have to pack light and one way to do that is to opt for pants that you can dress up or down for any occasion—like the Liverpool Los Angeles The Gia Gliders. Thicker and more supportive than leggings yet stretchier, softer, and more comfortable than regular jeans, these mid-rise jeggings come in two lengths and can be pulled on in seconds. We found them amazingly comfortable, even after full days in the office, running errands, or traveling across the city.

A faux zipper, a working button, and belt loops add style points. And, although the front pockets are too small to be very useful, we really appreciated the functionality of the full-size back pockets. We found that the pants offered a great range of movement (although we wouldn’t necessarily recommend them for your next yoga session!), and loved that they were thick enough never to have to worry about see-through areas. We did find that they bagged slightly after a few days’ wear, but also that they returned to their original shape after washing.

Sizes: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16; regular, tall | Materials: Cotton, rayon, modal

Best With Pockets

Wayre jetsetter trouser.

Inclusive sizing

Incredibly versatile

Sustainable and ethically made

Not ideal for colder weather

If you prioritize pockets when looking for the perfect pair of pants, you’ll love the Wayre Jetsetter Trousers. They offer six functional pockets: four on the sides and back, each large enough for a phone or wallet; a card pocket; and a pickpocket-proof zippered pocket capable of accommodating a passport, cash, or keys. We also love the broad range of sizes offered, including standard and tall lengths. We loved the fit, finding them true to size with a waistband that wasn’t too tight or loose, but just right.

The style is wide-legged, with a cropped length and high-rise waist. They’re flexible enough to be comfy on the plane or when exploring your destination, but also smart enough to dress up come evening. We feel this versatility helps to justify the pants’ admittedly high price tag. They are made of durable Aire-Flex fabric, which is breathable, spill- and odor-proof, wrinkle-proof, and rated for UPF 30+ sun protection. It’s also bluesign-certified for sustainability points, and available in six gorgeous colors from bronze to rose water.

Sizes: 00, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 | Materials: Aire-Flex (rPET)

Most Comfortable

Vuori performance jogger.

  • Design 4 /5

Unbelievably soft fabric

Completely unrestricted movement

Can be tumble dried

Pockets aren’t particularly functional

Cropped style may not suit all tastes

Vuori Performance Joggers are made from DreamKnit fabric: a recycled polyester and elastane blend that’s impossibly soft and comfortable on long travel days. The pants are also breathable and moisture-wicking, with four-way stretch for full freedom of movement. The fit is slim yet relaxed, with a mid-rise waist and a tapered, cropped leg. We liked the adjustability of the drawstring waist and the fact that the fit remained consistent on every wear. Some of us that are tall weren't a big fan of the cropped style, though.

The joggers have two side pockets, which are deep enough to hold your phone or wallet. However, we found that anything bulky looked a little odd due to the pants’ slightly clingy style. Nevertheless, we believe the durable, quality fabric makes them well worth their high-end price tag and appreciated that unlike many of the pants on this list, ythese ones can be tumble dried without shrinking, stretching, or pilling. Colors range from black camo and navy to a dusky pink marsala heather.

Sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL | Materials: Recycled polyester, elastane

Best Leggings

Abercrombie & fitch ypb studiosoft legging.

Abercrombie & Fitch

  • Quality 4.5 /5

Flattering, sculpting design

No movement, even during high-impact activities

Relatively affordable

Lighter colors may show sweat when working out

The Abercrombie YPB StudioSoft 7/8 Length Leggings are made from a super soft, stretchy, and supportive nylon and elastane blend. We loved that they were like a second skin without making us feel like a stuffed sausage. The double-layer waistband compresses without being uncomfortable for a smoothing effect, while an ultra high-rise cut and sculpting, V-shaped back seaming help flatter your figure, whatever your body type. We felt that the leggings were pretty breathable, although some sweat did show through on the light color we tested.

One highlight for us was that the leggings stayed firmly in place with no sagging, looseness, or riding up no matter what we wore them for—including a high-impact gym workout. With completely unimpeded movement, we could see them performing well in any travel scenario, from sightseeing to adventure tours. There’s even a hidden interior waistband pocket for cards or keys. The leggings are the most affordable on this list and come in three inseam lengths (short, regular, and long) and four colors (lilac, oat, onyx, and mineral blue).

Sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL; short, regular, long | Materials: Nylon, elastane

Quince Ponte Straight Leg Pant

  • Durability 4.5 /5

Naturally heat regulating

Retain quality after multiple washes

Ethically sourced and produced

Unstructured fit loosens throughout the day

These beautiful linen pants from Quince are ethically woven from 100 percent European flax, making them naturally hypoallergenic, breathable, and heat regulating. We found them so light and comfortable, it was easy to forget we were wearing pants at all. After trying them on, we would describe them as “just easy,” from putting them on to accessorizing them for different occasions. The linen is also very high quality, with no changes to its look or feel after several washes and enough thickness not to have to worry about visible underwear.

The fit is true to size, with a streamlined, straight-leg aesthetic that we feel is very versatile. The cropped legs hit just above the ankle, making them practical for navigating less-than-pristine airport bathrooms and cute when paired with sneakers, sandals, and flip-flops. If we could make one change? We’d add a drawstring to the elasticated waist to counteract the fact that it does stretch a little with extended wear. Finally, the pants have three functioning pockets and come in nine attractive colors.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL | Materials: European flax linen

TripSavvy / Jackie Napalan

Our overall favorite travel pants were the Stretch High-Rise Joggers from Lululemon, which we loved for their butter-soft comfort, stretch, and stylish appearance. For something a little more formal, choose Quince’s elegant yet eminently practical Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pants .

Each pair of pants considered for this article went through the same real-life testing process. First, we unboxed and visually inspected the pants to gain an overall impression of material and construction quality. We tested the design and function of features, including pockets, zippers, buttons, and drawstrings; then put the pants on to perform a series of squats. This gave us an idea of their fit, breathability, and stretch.

Then, we wore each pair for at least four six-hour periods over two weeks. We wore them for traveling and everyday activities, including going to work, attending social events, and running errands. Finally, we washed the pants at least once according to the manufacturer’s care guidelines to see how well they held up. Each pair was scored from one to five for fit, comfort, quality, durability, design, and value, with overall scores informing our category winners.

What to Look For in Women's Travel Pants

Comfort and flexibility are key when it comes to travel pants, which is why many of our favorites are made from technical blends featuring materials like nylon, elastane, spandex, polyester, and Lycra. These blends are typically breathable and moisture-wicking, too, making them easily able to handle temperature changes and great for active vacation pursuits such as hiking or sightseeing tours. Natural materials like cotton and linen are also comfy and breathable, although you’ll have to pack carefully to avoid too many wrinkles.

The travel pants that we tested for this article ranged in price from $22 to $228, but the most affordable pair that scored highly enough to be featured cost $70. This is a good illustration of the old adage, “you get what you pay for,” and if you want a pair of pants that tick all the boxes for comfort, versatility, and durability, then you should expect to pay somewhere around the $100 mark. Although this may seem expensive, consider that you’ll be able to wear the right pair of travel pants over and over again on your trip and hopefully for many years to come.

Above all, travel pants should be comfortable. You want full freedom of movement so you can run for that bus, take on that hiking trail, or dance the night away at that sidewalk taverna. You also want to be able to sit comfortably for several hours while traveling without experiencing any uncomfortable pinching or compression. This either means choosing pants with a relaxed fit, or, if you prefer form-fitting leggings, opting for ones with super soft material, plenty of stretch, and a waistband that stays firmly in place without being too tight.

Style is very personal and there’s no right or wrong when it comes to travel pants (or any other clothing). Whatever style you go for, though, we recommend choosing one with plenty of versatility. That means pants that you can dress up with heels and a blazer for a night out or formal business meeting, for example, or pair with sneakers and a T-shirt for more casual adventures during the day. This way, you’ll cut down on the number of different pants you need to take and save extra space in your suitcase for other items.

Although pockets aren’t necessarily essential if you’re the kind of person who always travels with a purse or backpack, they can be a very handy addition to your travel pants. After all, how much easier is it to whip your passport out of your pocket at security than having to rummage through your purse for the 99th time? Look for pockets that are deep enough to hold your valuables securely, even when you’re sitting down. The smartest travel pants may even have a zippered pocket or a hidden pocket in the waistband to dissuade pickpockets.

Whether for women or for men , the best pair of travel pants is the one you feel most comfortable in. Generally speaking, opt for soft, stretchy fabrics or pants with a relaxed fit that won’t feel too restrictive after hours in one position on the airplane. Pockets are ideal for keeping essentials like your wallet, phone, or passport handy, while breathable, sweat-wicking materials are great if you’re headed somewhere warm. Finally, choosing pants that you can wear for different scenarios (from daytime sightseeing or hiking to dining out in the evening) will help you pack smarter and lighter.

When it comes to the kind of casual pants listed in this article (leggings, joggers, lightweight travel pants), the best way to pack for wrinkle-free results is to fold the pants in half vertically, then roll them up tightly starting from the waistband. Bonus: This is also a great space saver, giving you more room in your suitcase for other clothes or souvenirs you pick up along the way.

Best Travel Pants For Women Overall

Soft, breathable and stylish, lululemon swift mid-rise wide-leg pant.

Sizes: 0 to 14 | Colors: 7 total | Inseam: 32 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 5 | Pockets: 2 | Waist type: Pull on; high-rise

  • What’s notable: They are made of extremely soft, specially designed Swift fabric, and they can easily be dressed up or down.
  • What could be better: The inseam runs a little long (but the brand offers free tailoring) and the wide leg might not appeal to all.

Lululemon’s Swift wide-leg pants strike the right balance between comfort, style and versatility, which makes them our top pick. They’re made of Swift fabric, a sweat-wicking yarn knit with a specific technique to make the pants especially breathable and the stretch adds a bit of extra flexibility. They’re great to wear on the plane, during a day of sightseeing and out for dinner. One of the hand pockets (on the right side) contains a hidden credit card sleeve, and the logo is placed inconspicuously above the left hip, so the overall look is polished and sophisticated. That’s a lot of value for a single pair of pants, which justifies the slightly high price, in our opinion.

Best Lightweight Travel Pants For Women

Quick-drying pick with extra pockets, libin women's cargo joggers.

Sizes: XS to 3XL | Colors: 14 total | Inseam: 27-30 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 4 | Pockets: 5 | Waist type: Pull on with drawstring; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: They are made of a comfy polyester and spandex blend, the price is affordable, and UPF 50+ makes these great for long days outside.
  • What could be better: The thin, lightweight fabric is not optimal for colder weather.

With its five functional pockets (two side zip pockets, two cargo ones and one back zip option), water-resistant fabric and lightweight, stretchy fit, these cargo joggers from Libin are sporty and comfortable. If you’re traveling outdoors or in the heat, the built in UPF 50+ protection is added bonus, as is the affordable price and fast Amazon delivery.

Best Comfortable Travel Pants For Women

Cooling bamboo fabric for a cloud-like feel, cozy earth women's bamboo jogger pant.

Sizes: XS to 3XL | Colors: 5 total | Inseam: 26 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 5 | Pockets: 2 | Waist type: Pull on with drawstring; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: They are made from a temperature-regulating material, they have phone-friendly pockets and the waistband is flattering.
  • What could be better: These run a little big so if you are between sizes, consider sizing down.

Cozy Earth is famous for their responsibly-sourced, super soft garments, and their Bamboo Jogger Pants are no exception. They’re made of mid-weight bamboo viscose, a luxurious, silk-like fabric that makes them great for high-movement travel days. Forbes Vetted senior fashion editor Kari Molvar has these pants and wears them almost daily. “The fabric holds up beautifully, never pills or shrinks in the wash,” she says. “They’re stylish and seriously cloud-like.” This pair also comes in rib-knit and cashmere .

Best Travel Joggers For Women

Stretchy, mid-rise fit, athleta venice mid-rise jogger.

Sizes: XXS to 3XL | Colors: 9 total | Inseam: 28 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 5 | Pockets: 5 | Waist type: Pull on; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: The stretchy, sweat-wicking material is great for warmer weather, and they have spacious pockets and a flattering, high-rise fit.
  • What could be better: The flexible waistband can overstretch.

The Athleta Venice Mid-Rise Jogger is made of a nylon and Spandex blend that creates plenty of breathable airflow. The semi-fit style of these pants stretches comfortably around the body with the help of its soft, no-dig waistband. The bottom cuffs are stylish without “bind[ing] the ankle,” a five-star reviewer notes, and you can also fit your passport, boarding pass and any other travel docs in its five spacious pockets.

Best Stylish Travel Pants For Women

Elegant option with body-skimming fit, spanx the perfect pant, slim straight.

Sizes: XS to 3XL | Colors: 4 total | Inseam: 31 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 3 | Pockets: None | Waist type: Pull on; high-rise

  • What’s notable: They can be dressed up or down, have hidden tummy control technology and are made from a luxuriously soft four-way stretch.
  • What could be better: They fit a little snug and there is no pocket space.

Though it comes at a higher price point, the Spanx Perfect Pant is ideal for those who want to jetset with style. These pants are infused with Spanx’s signature core-shaping technology for a distinct, sleek look that smooths out your midsection and the premium ponte straight-leg fit gives you a polished, wrinkle-free look even if you just rolled off an eight-hour flight.

Best Travel Pants For Long Flights

Slim-yet-relaxed fit with stretch.

American Giant

American Giant Ponte Jogger

Sizes:  XS to XL | Colors:  3 total | Inseam:  27.5 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5):  4 | Pockets:  2 | Waist type:  Pull on with drawstring; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: High-quality ponte fabric resists wrinkles and pilling and four-way stretch provides comfort.
  • What could be better: They on the expensive end and are only available in limited colors.

American Giant is revamping its image, creating high-quality pieces that put an elevated, stylish spin on athleisure. Molvar tested the Ponte Jogger and considers them a core part of her travel (and everyday) uniform. “The matte fabric is comfortable yet polished, so you get the best of both worlds when you’re on a long flight,” she says. “It’s almost impossible to wrinkle these and so you can walk off the plane like a chic traveler, and head straight to a day of museum hopping, eating and adventuring.”

Best Quick-Dry Travel Pants For Women

Smooth fabric that lifts away moisture, lululemon warpstreme multi-pocket mid-rise golf pant.

Sizes: 0 to 14 | Colors: 2 total | Inseam: 24 to 28 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 3 | Pockets: 2 | Waist type: Pull on; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: They are versatile and made of breathable, moisture-wicking Warpstreme fabric.
  • What could be better: The middle seam rides up and the back pockets are non-functional.

These Lululemon Warpstreme pants are technically designed for long days on the golf course, but they’re fantastic for travel as well. Their wrinkle-resistant fabric is designed for breathability and shape retention, and they also provide a classic silhouette that falls away from the body. As an extra perk, you can clip a passport holder or travel passes on the waistband loops.

Best Travel Pants With Pockets For Women

Loose, casual design with added storage space, baleaf women's joggers.

Sizes: XS to XXL | Colors: 7 total | Inseam: 25.5 to 28 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5): 4 | Pockets: 5 | Waist type: Flat elastic with drawstring; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: They have five roomy pockets and offer UPF50+ protection.
  • What could be better: The drawstring isn’t secure within the seam.

If you need a lot of pockets to store essentials (card holders, wallets, phones, snacks) on the go, reviewers rave about these joggers. They have five spacious pockets—two sides ones, two zip cargo ones and one rear pocket—that offer ample space to hold your goods. The four-way stretch fabric also creates roomy ventilation so that you can move about with maximum comfort.

Best Petite Travel Pants For Women

Kick flare hem and a dressy silhouette, spanx the perfect pant, kick flare.

  • What could be better: They run small, don’t have pockets, and are only available in limited colors.

As with its straight-leg counterpart, the Spanx Perfect Pant with kick flare is the foundation of any travel wardrobe. This petite fit rests perfectly at the ankles for those with shorter legs, and with Spanx’s signature core-shaping technology, the fit is flattering with a pull-on waistband. One five-star reviewer notes that these pants pair great with a blouse or blazer for business travel.

Best Travel Jeans For Women

Stretchy material and maximum comfort, duer performance denim mid-rise slim straight jeans.

Sizes: XXS to XL | Colors: 4 total | Inseam: 24 to 34 inches | Comfort rating (o to 5): 3 | Pockets: 5 | Waist type: Zip fly; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: The d e nim has built-in stretch and cooling capabilities and retains shape after multiple washings.
  • What could be better: At over $130, the price tag is a little high.

Who doesn’t love a stretchy jean for days on the go? Duer’s denim is specifically designed for active days: The flexible, temperature-regulating fabric of this jean moves with your body, not against it, and features a hidden gusset for added breathability. It’s also available in girlfriend and bootcut fits. “I like the weight on this pair—it’s not too thick or thin and the denim is soft against your skin,” says Molvar, who has worn this pick.

Best Travel Work Pants For Women

Sophisticated, versatile and stretchy, madewell the fairbanks pant.

Sizes:  00 to 16 | Colors:  4 total | Inseam:  29 inches | Comfort rating (0 to 5):  3 | Pockets:  4 | Waist type:  Zip fly; mid-rise

  • What’s notable: They offer a chic, polished silhouette for dressy and casual days and the stretch fit is comfortable.
  • What could be better: Only one inseam length is available, and there are limited color options.

Madewell is the go-to option for stylish, well-priced work pants. The Fairbanks Pant is especially great for travel with its slim, tapered leg that won’t slow you down or catch against the edges of seats or doors. The fabric contains a blend of viscose and elastane to provide give and flexibility, and the vertical piping on the front of the leg creates an elongating effect. “I’d pair these with flats or heels for a work meeting, and then slip on sneakers for a day of exploring,” says Molvar.

More Top-Rated Travel Pants

Choosing the right travel pants depends on a number of factors including your destination, your method of travel and your own personal style. If the pants above don’t meet your needs, consider these other popular options.

Chic Two-Piece Set

Frank & Eileen

Frank & Eileen Malibu Travel Set

This travel set is as comfortable as the leggings and sweatshirt you want to wear to the airport, but the stylish cut and monochromatic color scheme offer a more polished look. “This is a great set if you want to look chic at the airport; if you need another layer, add an oversized denim jacket and belt bag to this look,” says Atlanta-based fashion stylist Rachel Nicole . (Gallagher is a fan of this travel set, too.) Made from 100% cotton triple fleece, the set is available in 10 colors, and there is a long-sleeved version for colder weather.

Easy-Breezy Vacation Pants

Banana Republic

Banana Republic Mya Cotton-Linen Cargo Pants

Cargo pants offer ample pocket space to hold your phone, ID and boarding pass at the airport. But what makes these rise above is the comfortable cotton-linen blend. The cut is relaxed enough for long flights and car rides (while still being flattering) and the cropped leg works well with sneakers. If white feels too risky from a stain standpoint, the Myas are also available in black and navy. Forbes Vetted contributing fashion writer Lesley Rotchford owns them in white and recently wore them on a trip to Sea Island, Georgia.

Sporty, Yet Refined

Tory burch wide leg track pant.

Track pants are made for athletes, so they are roomy and comfortable—and great for speed walking through airports. It’s rare to find them in a chic neutral color like camel, which is one of the reasons we love these track pants from Tory Sport. We also appreciate the cozy double-knit fabric; the pintuck details, which elongate the leg; and the fact that they are so versatile. “I love track pants that can be dressed down for travel (with platform sneakers or sambas and a tank and denim jacket) but also can be dressed up to go out later,” says Nicole.

Transitions From The Plane To The Office

Neiman Marcus

Cinq A Sept Tabitha Crepe Jogger Pants

Joggers are easy for travel because they are comfortable and look appropriate (cool, even) with sneakers. Nicole likes these from Cinq A Sept because they are made from a traditional “work” fabric—crepe—which means she can wear them straight to a meeting after getting off the plane. Plus, they aren’t too tight around the ankle, which allows for good circulation during long trips.

Soft And Flattering Style

Spanx airessentials wide leg pants.

Made of a four-way stretch knit that’s described as “light as air,” these pants feel like sweatpants but look much more elevated. They come in eight stylish colors—including dark palm and smoke—and are available in sizes XS to 3X and three lengths (regular, petite, tall). “These are super soft and chic—and can be worn with platform sneakers,” says Nicole.

Travel-Ready Trousers

Alo yoga high-waist dreamscape trousers.

Trousers are trendy (and great for travel, says McCool)—but they often have fitted waists, which can dig into your stomach during long flights and car rides. Alo sneaks elastic into the back of the waistband for comfort, and the pleating offers a roomy fit. Plus, the lightweight crinkle fabric is easy to wear (and pack). Just keep in mind that these pants run big and long, so consider sizing down and having them hemmed.

Like Pajamas But More Polished

Franhais wide leg pants set.

McCool’s clients love these ribbed linen-blend travel sets. “The fabric feels soft and comfortable, but the ribbed texture and sheen make it look more elevated,” she says. (McCool recommends doing a half tuck on the top for a laid-back, flattering look.) Another perk to this set: The fabric is already crinkled, so you don’t have to worry about wrinkles after hours of sitting on a plane.

Pants That Look Good On Everyone

Sweaty Betty

Sweaty Betty Explorer Pants

“I love the Sweaty Betty Explorer pants. They are flattering on most body shapes,” says Gallagher, who suggests sizing up if you have fuller hips. They have a drawstring waist, which is great for people with smaller waists, and the lengths (there are two options) work for just about everyone. Plus, Sweaty Betty thoughtfully offers a wide range of sizes (XXS to XXL).

Comfortable And Easy To Dress Up

Vuori villa wideleg pants.

When worn with sneakers, the Villa Wideleg pants resemble sweats. But when you pair them with flats or loafers, they instantly look dressier. “Many of my clients love these. They are a fun option to wear day to night—or off the plane and into a meeting,” says Gallagher. Made of recycled polyester and elastane (for stretch and comfort), they are available in two lengths and two neutral colors.

What To Consider About Travel Pants For Women

Travel, which typically involves hours of both sitting and action, requires comfortable pants that move with you during all of the stops of your journey. From a long overnight flight to an afternoon meandering through a museum, you’ll want pants that feel good all day long. With this in mind, most of our favorite travel pants are pull-on styles with some stretch and bounce-back qualities to them, like the Lululemon Golf Pant .

Whether you’re sight-seeing throughout Europe or riding around Disneyworld, you don’t want to be weighed down by a heavy purse. This is where extra pockets come in handy. “A pant with pockets always offers the most flexibility,” says Gallagher. “I prefer side seam pockets and a back pocket. Zip pockets are great if you are doing something active and do not want to risk belongings falling out or being stolen.” Our top pick, the Baleaf Joggers , has an impressive five pockets for all of your on-the-go storage needs.

Versatility

All of our travel pant recommendations can be worn in a variety of ways—a key feature when you have limited suitcase space—and the best pants easily transition from one activity to another. For example, it’s wise to invest in a pair of comfortable pants that are polished enough to go straight from the plane to a meeting or dinner. “A tapered leg pant with a stretch waistband is flattering on most body types and easily pairs well with blazers, sweaters and jackets,” says Gallagher. Neutral colors like black and navy can go far when it comes to mixing and matching different tops to create new outfits, and “dark colors are practical, too—if you spill something on yourself, it will be less likely to show,” says McCool.

Travel pants are typically paired with sneakers, or at least comfortable flats, so you want to take length into consideration when choosing a pair. Look for cropped styles or pants that can be cuffed (boot cuts and flares can’t really be rolled up). “I think joggers are especially good for this reason—they work really well with sneakers,” says Goodyear.

“Look for soft, comfortable, breathable materials like cotton with a bit of stretch,” says McCool. Because temperatures can vary on planes (and at your destination), choose a material that’s mid-weight to keep you comfortable in all conditions. “Midweight materials also hold their shape better and are less likely to wrinkle,” says McCool. Just make sure whatever fabric you choose is machine washable. “Avoid wearing anything you have to dry clean, because clothes tend to get dirty while traveling and you want to be able to throw them in the washing machine,” says Goodyear.

Travel pants should have a looser, more relaxed fit than regular pants, but should still have a flattering cut so it doesn’t look like you’re wearing sweats. “Wide leg trousers are a good option because they are comfortable and roomy,” says McCool. Some companies, like Alo Yoga , add elastic into the waistband for coziness.

Most people don’t think about rise when selecting pair of pants for traveling—but they should. “The right rise (mid or high rise) will make all the difference. Most of my client prefer a high rise pants for travel,” says Gallagher, who suggests sizing up if you find that high rise pants ride up a bit too much.

Comparison Guide For Women’s Travel Pants

While we know travel pants should be comfy and versatile, not all are alike. Your travel habits and activities can guide which style of pants will work best for your needs. Are you going on a long flight then resting in your hotel room? Or are your travels taking you on a commuter train straight into a business meeting?

For more upscale travel pants, we recommend the Lululemon Swift Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Pant , Athleta’s Venice Mid-Rise Jogger or Spanx’s The Perfect Pant , all of which tout wrinkle-resistance and flat-front waistbands that are a bit more refined than drawstring joggers. These pants could easily transition from the plane to a work event or sightseeing.

If the itinerary for the day has a more casual vibe—think hiking, walking in a park or shopping—travel joggers are the way to go. Our picks like Libin’s Cargo Joggers , Cozy Earth’s Bamboo Jogger Pant , American Giant’s Ponte Jogger or even a stretch denim like Duer’s Slim Straight Jeans offer flexibility, overall softness and an easy, throw-on-and-go casual style.

Top Product Overview

Top travel pants for women, chico's women's travelers classic no tummy pants.

Chico's Women's Travelers Classic No Tummy Pants Size 12P/14P L (2P) Black

The Chico pants are a great option if you’re looking for something really  soft and comfortable . They are made from  acetate and spandex, which make them stretchy and soft.  They are a bit like tracksuit pants in the materials, but the overall design can actually pass for normal pants. And these are  high-wasted, which on its own makes them look less casual.

The  waistband is stretchy, but it is not ruffled at the front.  Instead, the tummy area is entirely smooth on the front, with  vertical lines that make your stomach look flat,  and your torso longer. Yes, these women’s pants will not only be insanely comfortable, but they will also make you look really good.

The sizing is amazing – the pants are available in sizes ranging from XS (0) to XXL (20), with regular, tall, and short-length options.  In addition to that, they are also available in a variety of different colors, so I’m sure you will easily find something you really like.

They are ankle-length, so be sure to pick up the right fit for your height. Unfortunately, these  don’t have any pockets,  and that’s pretty much the only downside to them. They are  machine washable  though, so keeping them clean is not going to be an issue at all.

And by the way,  these pants are wrinkle-free, so you will arrive at your destination looking as put-together as you were when you first entered that airplane. This feature also makes them awesome for packing, since you don’t have to worry about ironing them.

  • Lots of color variety
  • Machine washable
  • Flattering fit
  • Only available in solid colors

Rekucci Travel in Style - Women's Classic Straight Leg Pant

Rekucci Travel in Style Women's Soft Knit Classic Straight Leg Pant (Medium, Navy)

If you’re traveling for work, I think these are definitely the best pants you can get. They are  stretchy, soft, and comfortable, but they actually look quite businessy and professional. Especially if you go for the vertical stripe print – pair it with a casual white shirt or jumper, for a very smart outfit.

The other colors are a bit more casual, and a great option if you don’t care too much about looking professional. These pants are  straight leg and they will not stick to your skin too much , which ensures that you stay comfortable and not too warm.

In addition to that,  the waist is somewhat higher than normal , but it is not as high as on the Chico pants – perfect if you’re not a fan of high-waisted clothing.

The fabric that these pants are made of is  wrinkle-resistant and packable , which makes them ideal for traveling. Even when you get to your destination, you will not look as though you’ve been on a tiring, long flight, and that’s really great.

One downside to these is the  lack of pockets , which I’m really sad about. Another thing that I don’t like is that there are no length options. The inseam is 31”, and there’s a good chance you’re going to have to get these adjusted if you’re on the shorter side.

Another thing worth noting is that the material is very fluid. The pants are not stiff, and they will move along with your body in a very feminine way.

  • Great for business trips
  • Very affordable
  • Wrinkle-resistant and packable
  • No length options
  • Materials: 96% Polyester, 4% Spandex
  • Sizing: XS-XXL

Joop Joop Bohemian Elephant Harem Loose Yoga Travel Pants

Joob Joob Boho Pants for Women - Hippie Harem Pants Women - Womens Yoga Pants – Comfy Bohemian Flowy Hippie Clothes - Black Medium

Harem pants are an excellent choice for all of you that usually dress casually . They allow you to retain some of your personal styles while being insanely comfortable and having great freedom of movement. I would not – I rarely take these off in the summer when it’s not hot enough for shorts, but too hot for jeans.

The Joop Joop pants are  lightweight and airy, due to the Rayon fabric  they are made of. They don’t stick to your skin, as they are  designed to be really loose.  However, I’m not sure you will manage to achieve that fit, due to the lack of sizes.

The pants are  only available in two sizes – S/M and L/XL.  If you are very petite, you will probably find them too large. And if you’re normally a plus size, you might not find them as baggy as they should be.

One thing I really like about them is the  variety of colors and prints.  They are available in designs that I would wear on a daily basis – if you’re a fan of colorful patterns, I think you will really like them too. Especially because they have pockets.

The  waist is stretchy, but the ruffles are concealed in the patterned versions . There are also  cuffs around the ankles, which ensures that you can adjust the length of the pants  so that they are never too long for you. If you usually like your clothing to stand out and be unique, these harem pants are a great option for you.

  • Loose and comfortable
  • Plenty of color/print variety
  • Very little size variety
  • Not the best quality
  • Materials: 100% pure Rayon
  • Sizing: S/M and L/XL

Rekucci Women's Ease into Comfort Wide Waist Capri

Rekucci Women's Ease into Comfort Pull-On Capri with Back Lacing Detail

The Rekucci Capri pants are an excellent choice for all taller women that want to be stylish . They have that resort look to them – pair them with a patterned blouse or a lightweight shirt, and you will look very sophisticated while being really comfortable.

But to be honest, I would not wear these women’s travel pants myself – I am quite short, and they are not at all flattering for my height and figure. They look insanely good on tall women though, and I’m trying to find something great for everyone.

These travel pants for women are elastic; they have a pull-on waistband with hidden elastic inside . The buttons you see are only decorative, as is the lace in the back. They are available in a variety of different colors and prints , so you should easily find something that suits your personal style.

Keep in mind that the solid colors and patterns are made from different materials ; solids are made from nylon, spandex, and rayon, while patterns also have polyester in the mixture. All of these materials are stretchy, comfortable, and feel great against your skin.

The capri pants are mid-rise, so they are pretty stylish in addition to being so comfortable. You can pair them with pretty much anything, and still look really great. And they have pockets , so you will be able to have your phone and wallet handy at all times.

Another thing worth noting is that the size variety of these is pretty good as well – they come in eight different sizes, ranging from a four to an eighteen.

  • Very flattering on tall women
  • They have pockets
  • Plenty of color and size variety
  • Hard to pull of for short ladies
  • They run somewhat small
  • Materials: Solid Colors: 74% Rayon 22% Nylon 4% Spandex
  • Melange Colors: 48% Polyester 27% Rayon 21%Nylon 4% Spandex
  • Sizing: 4-18

ASICS Women's I Move Me Travel Pants Taper

ASICS Women's I Move Me Travel Pants Taper Tarmac XS (US 4-6)

If you’re all about comfort and don’t really care about looking professional or businessy, then you can’t go wrong with classic tracksuit pants . Pair them with a t-shirt and a comfy hoodie, and you will feel almost as good as you do in your favorite PJs.

The Asics tracksuit is made from polyester and spandex, so it’s stretchy but it’s not skinny fitting . It’s rather loose and it won’t stick to your skinny, which I find to be the most comfortable fit for a tracksuit.

In addition to that, there are cuffs around the ankles, which will help keep the tracksuit in place , even if it turns out to be a bit long for you. Which it might, since there are no length options to choose from.

The elastic waistband won’t feel too tight around your tummy, and the drawstring will allow you to adjust the fit however you like . Oh, and this tracksuit has pockets (yes!) ,so you can have some necessities on you during your flight.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of color variety – you can only get these women’s travel pants in black and tarmac (blue) colors. But at least they are machine washable , so they will be super easy to clean.

  • Cuffs at ankles
  • Very little color variety
  • Materials: Polyester, Spandex
  • Sizing: XS-XL

The North Face Women's Aphrodite 2.0 Capris

THE NORTH FACE Women's Aphrodite 2.0 Capri, TNF Black, Medium

Here’s another pair of really  comfortable capri pants for travel .  They are made from mostly nylon, so they are quite  stretchy and lightweight.  The elastic band at the waist ensures that the pants won’t cut into your skin, and it eliminates muffin tops!  The drawstring on the elastic band allows you to tighten or loosen the waist as much as you want , for the perfect fit.

The  sides of the pants are ruched , which is very flattering. And it makes the women’s travel pants seem less casual than they actually are. They are slim fitting but they are not too tight , so they will look good, but also feel really good on long flights.

The North Face capri pants have  two open pockets that are pretty deep , and should fit the newer smartphones. They also have  a smaller zippered pocket on the right side, which is great as a money pocket  – the zipper is barely noticeable, so it’s safe from pickpockets.

These pants are actually  a great option for adventure travel as well, because their exterior wicks away moisture.  They are  also quick-drying , which is great for exploring in rainy weather. But I would not recommend them for really rugged terrain because of the length, unless you want to come home with scratches and cuts all over your calves.

If you want a pair of pants for women that are really comfortable but also rugged enough that you can wear them while exploring the outdoors,  I think these are a really good option.

  • Quick drying and moisture wicking material
  • Comfortable and stretchy
  • Three pockets
  • Not the best option for rugged terrain because of length
  • Harder to pull of for short women
  • Materials: 74% Nylon, 20% Polyester, 6% Elastane
  • Sizing: XS-XXL; Regular, Large

Columbia Women's Saturday Trail Pant

Columbia Women's Saturday Trail Pant, Grill, 8

The Saturday Trail Pants by Columbia are an excellent option for adventure travel. They are  made from lightweight material, which is stretchy  enough so that the pants don’t feel too tight. The Active fit means that  they are not too skinny in the calves,  and that you will be able to move around freely when wearing them.

The  material is both water and stain resistant,  which is perfect for the outdoors. It is actually Omni-Shield – Columbia’s proprietary technology that wicks  away moisture and dries very quickly.  It will protect your legs from any debris on the trails, as well as any nasty bug bites. But  you can also roll up the legs  when you feel like it.

One thing I really like about these Columbia adventure travel pants is the amount of color and size variety. They are  available in three lengths (regular, short, long), and sizes ranging from 2-22.  You can also choose from  13 colors,  which are admittedly a bit boring – with the exception of the awesome camo print pants.

If you like carrying items on you, you will just love these women’s travel pants. They have  a lot of pockets, both in the front and in the back.  Some of them are open and others are not, but all in all there’s definitely enough space in your pants for all the items you would like to have handy while you’re exploring.

The  waist on these is semi-elastic, and it’s the only part of them that might feel a little bit tight .  If you’re between sizes, I recommend you go for the larger size , in order to get the most comfortable fit.

  • Lots of color and size variety
  • Plenty of pockets
  • Water and stain resistant material
  • Waist is not entirely elastic
  • Colors are a bit boring
  • Materials: 96% Nylon/4% Elastane
  • Sizing: XXS-XXL; Regular, Short, Long

prAna Women's Halle Pant

prAna Women's Halle Pant - regular Inseam, Coal, 8

The Prana Halle travel pants are a great option if you need  really durable outdoor pants that are relaxed fitting . They are  made from Stretch Zion, which is a stretchy material that has water repelling and quick drying properties.

These pants are convertible, meaning that you can easily roll up the leg and turn them into capris  should it get too hot. I wouldn’t recommend doing this on more difficult hiking trails, but it’s actually perfect if you need to walk through a body of water.

The size variety of these hiking pants is amazing – there are sizes ranging from 0 to 18,  and you can choose from  regular, short and tall lengths . It should be easy enough to get a pair that fits you just right. There is detailed information about the sizes on Amazon – inseam length, size charts etc. Be sure to check that out before you actually buy a pair.

One downside to the Prana Halle travel pants for women is that  they are not machine washable  – you will need to hand wash these, and that really is a shame. And be sure to check out which pants are the cheapest in your size – pretty much every color/size combination has a different price tag, and that’s not great.

They have pockets in the front and in the back, as well as a hidden zippered pocket on the front leg.  The last one is pretty deep, and it should be large enough to fit your phone and some cash.

These travel pants are also  quite versatile, because of the bi-stretch material and minimalistic design . You can easily wear them on a plane and still be just as comfortable as you would in a tracksuit.

  • Lots of size variety
  • Multiple pockets
  • Stretchy fabric is water repellant and quick drying
  • Not machine washable
  • Not all colors are available
  • Prices are not consistent
  • Materials: 97% Nylon, 3% Spandex
  • Sizing: 0-18; Regular, Short, Tall

SCOTTeVEST Margaux Cargaux Travel Pants

SCOTTeVEST Margaux Cargaux Travel Cargo Pant for Women - 11 Hidden Pockets - for Hiking & More (Black, Large)

The thing that immediately drew me to these travel pants is the fact that  they have 11 pockets.  Ladies, I’m sure you’ll all aware just how much we need to struggle to get decent clothing that has real pockets, especially dresses and skirts. Or even jeans with real pockets – how many times did you pick up a pair, only to see that the pockets on them are fake?

So, if you like pockets as much as I do, then you will love these travel pants. With a total of 11 pockets, you can easily pack all your on-the-go necessities in these, and have everything you need on you. Just don’t put anything too heavy in the pants, since  they have an elastic waist  which won’t stay in place if you overpack them.

But that also means that the waist is  comfortable and stretchy  and that you won’t have any muffin top issues. The Margaux travel pants  tend to run large, so if you’re between sizes I recommend you go a size down.  They are pretty relaxed and stretchy all around, so there’s very little chance they will be too small for you.

Another thing I love about these are  the ankle ties. Even if they are too long, you can easily secure them in place, so that the cuffs don’t drag on the ground. And you might need to do this, since you can’t really choose a length for the women’s travel pants.

They are  made from a mixture of cotton, polyester and spandex,  so they are very comfortable overall. They are also  wrinkle-resistant,  but unfortunately not water or stain resistant.

  • Eleven pockets
  • Lightweight, stretchy and comfortable
  • Wrinkle resistant
  • Not water repellant
  • Not a lot of color or size variety
  • Materials: 62% Cotton, 36% Polyester, 2% Spandex

Columbia Women's Anytime Outdoor Boot Cut Pant

Columbia Women's Anytime Outdoor Boot Cut Pant, Black, 6

These Columbia adventure travel pants are a really good option if you want something  casual but durable.  They are awesome for rugged hiking trails, because they are  made from water repellant and quick drying material. In addition to that, the material also blocks UVA and UVB rays,  ensuring that you are protected from the sun at all times.

The  short inseam is 30” and the regular inseam is 32”, so at least you have some length options. And there is lots more size options, since these travel pants for women come in sizes ranging from 2 to 16. Just keep in mind that these are boot cut;  if they are too long for you, the excess material will drag on the ground.

The pants are stretchy, and they are bit tighter in the thighs. The  waistband is also elastic with a drawstring,  so you will easily make it fit you just right. But,  the pants also have a zipper and a snap, so they’re not exactly pull on.

There are only  three pockets on these pants; two in the front and one in the back.  One downside of these travel pants is that they are not convertible – you’re stuck with the length you get.

Overall, these pants are an excellent option for all of you that are looking for something comfortable and rugged. They are amazing for the outdoors, but also comfortable enough that you will want to wear them more frequently.

  • Water repellent and quick drying material
  • Stretchy and comfortable
  • Not convertible
  • Waist gets loose throughout the day
  • Materials: Elastane, Nylon, Polyester
  • Sizing: 2-16; Regular, Short

Bonus: Yoga Pants, Jeggings And Leggings

To be honest, the first thing that popped into my mind when I thought of travel pants were leggings . But, since leggings are not pants (and they never will be), I wasn’t completely sure that they fall into this category. So, they’re a bonus mention – an article of clothing that you most likely already have in your closet and that you know you feel comfortable in.

They are soft, stretchy, they won’t get wrinkled and they will keep you feeling comfortable all day . Leggings won’t cut into your skin, and you can get them in any color or print you want.

Now, if you don’t feel comfortable wearing these with a plain, short t-shirt, it’s okay – neither do I. That’s why I usually pair them with an oversized hoodie, a really long sweater, or a t-shirt dress with high slits , depending on the temperature outside. These clothes will be comfortable, and they will cover up your bum, so you won’t feel too self-conscious about wearing leggings.

Amazon Essentials Women’s Standard Pull-on Jegging

Hkjievshop high waist yoga pants, hue women’s cotton ultra legging with wide waistband, what to look for, comfort as a priority.

Long-haul flights are one of the few occasions in which it is totally acceptable to forget about your personal style and just focus on being comfortable. But, the be perfectly honest, it’s not really socially acceptable to board a plane wearing pyjamas, which I find to be the most comfortable clothing ever created.

So, I’ve tried to find pants that are going to be almost as comfortable as your favorite PJs. Some of them will be slightly more functional than others (will have pockets), so just try and find something that is suitable for you .

You should also look for something that is not going to cut into your skin in any area or feel tight . Something in which you can move around freely, and sit however you want.

Durability And Convenience – Adventure Travel

If you’re going on a more rugged trip that is going to include hiking or walking to get to your destination, you can’t really go with yoga pants. So, I’ve also dug up some awesome outdoor travel pants, which are designed to brush off any obstacles on the path .

I am talking about durable and water-resistant pants, which will not get torn if you scratch them on a rock or get attacked by wild branches . Hiking pants that have plenty of deep pockets for all the items you need handy while you are hiking through the wilderness, and that feels lightweight and comfortable against your skin.

You will find these in the latter section of the review. I did not find as many great pants for adventure travel as I did for comfy flights, but I think you will find that the pairs I’ve featured in this review perform remarkably well and are up to your standards.

Where Are You Travelling To?

You need to consider where you will be landing, and what the weather is going to be like once you get off the plane. Maybe it’s freezing in your country at the moment, but you’re traveling somewhere sunny and warm – do not go for a fleece-lined tracksuit. You will regret that decision the moment you get off the plane and start sweating.

Instead, go for materials that are suitable for the weather in your destination. If you’re going somewhere where it’s really warm, go for light and airy materials . Harem pants are generally a really great choice for hot weather since they don’t stick to your skin.

Yoga pants are also an option because they are very thin . But they are going to be a bit warmer than harem pants.

If you’re traveling to a place where it is cold, tracksuits are usually going to be your best friends . They are thicker than yoga pants, and some of them are lined with fleece, which is going to keep you warm.

The Best Travel Pants For Women: Our Top Choices

Can’t decide on a single pair of travel pants? No problem – pick up one of our top choices and you definitely won’t be disappointed!

I’m a bit biased here, so I have to recommend  the Joop Joop Harem pants as the most comfortable option for long flights.  They are very  loose , so they won’t annoy you or feel tight in any area. The  Rayon material these are made from is lightweight and airy , so it really won’t feel like you’re wearing roper pants – perfect for the summer heat.

And they are  available in a lot of cute colors and prints , so you can still showcase your personal style! Oh, and the pants  have a couple of pockets,  which are just large enough for your phone and wallet.

  • COMFORT AND EASE - Relaxed fit. Smocked waistband and ankle flattering for many shapes, sizes and body types flattens tummy and great for various heights. If you’re an explorer and you need travel pants that you can wear on some really rugged trails, I recommend the Columbia Saturday Trail pants .  They are  made from water repellent and quick-drying material,  so you will feel comfortable in them regardless of the weather outside.

The  pants are convertible, meaning that you can turn them into capris  if you want – perfect for hot summer days or cooling your feet in the lake. They also  have several pockets , so you will be able to have some necessities on you at all times.

The North Face Aphrodite capri pants are one of my favorite versatile options.  They are  soft and stretchy enough that you can wear them on a really long flight  and feel really comfortable.

But they are also  made from moisture-wicking and quick-drying material, which is great for going outside and exploring.  The length makes them an excellent option for hot summer days, as long as you’re not going too far off the beaten path – you don’t want to encounter a rattlesnake or a swarm of mosquitoes wearing capri pants.

  • KEEP EXPLORING. Featuring an ultra-comfy herringbone fabric with four-way stretch, the durable and water-repellent Women's Aphrodite 2.0 Capri Pant makes it easy to do what you love—or are learning to love.

How to Choose the Best Womens Travel Pants

best-travel-pants-for-women

Shop Old Navy: Regular 0-30 | Tall 2-20 | Petite 0-20

When searching for good travel pants, there are many factors to consider, and movement-friendly fabrics are one of them! For warm-weather travels, your pants should definitely be breathable. Look to airy fabrics, like cotton and  linen pants , which are super lightweight, airy, and cooling. If it’s an extra hot day or you have some active excursions planned, moisture-wicking materials will be awesome for keeping things fresh and comfortable.

If you’re traveling in the fall or winter, readers adore  fleece-lined pants  or  leggings  and anything made from merino wool !  Denim jeans  are a solid option, too, especially if they can be layered with  thermals .

Polyester and nylon travel pants are great for sporty activities like hiking. And no matter the activities, wrinkle-resistant fabrics are always a huge plus! But don’t discount denim, as jeans have become ultra-popular on travel days and for sightseeing or dressing up at night.

You’ll want to feel as confident and comfortable as possible while you travel, so making sure your pants fill properly is another super important aspect! If they’re slightly too big or too small, you’ll be uncomfortable and will most likely have to spend much of your time adjusting them throughout the day.

When they’ve found the perfect pants that check all their boxes for travel, readers will often get them hemmed or tailored to be sure they’re the perfect fit. I also use a tailor to alter my trousers if I can’t find the pants I want in petite sizing, so I can be completely comfortable when traveling.

Additionally, relaxed or straight-cut silhouettes are great for summer, as they’ll add some airiness.  Cropped options are stylish and functional for the heat, too. For cold weather, longer pairs of warm pants that cover your ankles and seal in heat are ideal.

Because you’ll likely only be packing a few pairs of pants at the most, it’s highly recommended that you stick to neutral colors. That way, they’ll easily mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe! Neutral pants will ensure tons of styling versatility, and the colors of your  tops  and outerwear, whether bright, patterned, or neutral, too, will likely go with them!

Black  is always a classic, stylish, flattering, and low-maintenance color, but other fantastic neutrals include navy, tan, beige, and white. Even colors like red or green can be neutrals, as a neutral is a solid-based shade.

Versatility

When it comes to travel, versatility is key, so the pants you bring along should ideally be great for at least two activities. Readers love adaptable pairs that they can hike in and then style up for dinner or wear from a long plane right straight into a business meeting.

You’ll want them to feel comfy, but from a fashion standpoint, it’s a plus if they also look cute with a  nice blouse  and  dressy sandals  or  ankle boots . If they can go casual to classy with a few simple changes, then they’re a winner!

More features to look for in a travel pant include functional pockets. While you may be carrying everything in your purse , being able to have a small item or two in your pocket, like lip balm and your phone, is always super convenient. Some women’s travel pants with pockets  have zip pockets or hidden pockets, which are great for keeping your things extra secure!

If you’re heading to a snowy wonderland or are expecting lots of rain, you may want to opt for a waterproof pair of pants. If the temps are freezing, you’ll probably want pants with insulating and/or thermoregulating features!

Added stretch will be a very welcome trait if you’re sitting on a long flight or have an active itinerary, while lightweight materials will be convenient for keeping your luggage weight to a minimum.

Just wanted to say how much I love the info you share here. I’m still working on getting down to just a carry-on but I’m getting there with the help of your suggestions. I bought a Departure Blazer from Eddie Bauer last year and have been trying to get my hands on the Departure pants in the same colour. (I don’t look good in black so I went with Atlantic Blue) I think I may have finally found a pair (they sell out really fast!). My sister and I are heading for Europe next year and I’m working on getting her to downsize too!

Alex

That is so kind of you, thank you so much Heidi ❤

Me again. I finally got hold of the pants and I’m very happy with them! I also asked for your Compass Rose packing cubes for Christmas and I received them so I’m all set!

That’s amazing Heidi!!! And I hope your Compass Rose packing cubes will join you on many fun and exciting adventures!

TERI

Always looking for comfortable, versatile travel pants! So thankful to have found your site! Now have to try out some of these. Thank you

Jacque

All things Athleta work for me! Love the Brooklyn pants and Rincon Dresses.

Kim

Pants are my nemesis! LOL! 5’4″ but with longer waist and shorter legs makes it hard, even in petite sizes to buy off the rack. I tend to favor joggers since I don’t have issues with them scraping the ground when I wear flats. 🙂 I want to like Ponte pants, but I find them to be a little too thick for my liking.

Rhonda

I love quince for travel pants. The older I get, the more I lean towards no hard pants!

Debi Haac

Shopping for travel/walking shoes is particularly difficult when there are so many things to consider: wide toe box, leather or not, white or not, comfort in the long run, etc. TFG has helped immensely with narrowing down my choices.

Rina

The Athleta travel pants have become my new go-to…for more than just traveling. They are just as comfortable as sweats, but look more put together so I feel like I’m dressed appropriately for really anything. Plus, they pack up so small and dry super fast if I need to wash them mid-trip. I only discovered them this summer, so I’m not sure how much warmth they’d provide on a colder trip, but for the warmer months, they were absolutely perfect.

Andrea

Love the Eddie Bauer departure pants in tall. So comfortable.

Vera Kozlowski

Agree, got the Eddie Bauer Departure pants in the spring, my new favorite!

Shawn

Love Athleta pants because of the tall option. I don’t love short ankle pants so the talls work perfectly. Will be wearing two pair this week on a bike trip thru Provence.

Jill Richards

My favorite travel pants are from Athleta. I bring their leggings with pockets, Delancey Straight Cargo Pant and a pair of Brooklyn ankle pants. I wear leggings on the plane and then use them for a hike or if it’s chilly with an oversized sweater.

Barbara Ryan

I have been searching everywhere for the perfect travel pant. I think this will work for my next trip to Europe. Style and comfort are important to me. I like the Quince Ultra Stretch Travel Pants

Kathleen Gore

I like Columbia quick dry pants for casual travel.

Susan

Athleta pants are reliable, comfortable and don’t wrinkle! Love them!

Jacqueline

These quickly became my favourite travel pants and first in the suitcase thanks to your recommendation years ago now.

Patricia Ciminera

Leaving for a trip out to South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Utah. It will be a more relaxed, casual trip. Packing several joggers and jeans. And of course, comfy shoes. Thanks to my travel friends, the many recommendations have made packing for this trip very easy!

Allison Ludeman

I’ve thought about getting these pants, but am not sure about the sizing. They look so great on Alex, but I think my body type is different and am not sure if they would look that good on me.

Colleen

Thanks for this article! I’m always hunting for the perfect pants to wear on long travel days with my energetic kids! Love quick dry material for when they inevitably spill something on me! 🙂

Hayley Townley

I have yet to pull the trigger on these Anatomie pants because I fear I will end up with four pairs (but I promise to only pack two of them)! Might need to order them before our European river trip this November…

Carla B Santa Cruz

I just love all of Alex’s videos and recommendations! I was skeptical, yet intrigued about the Skyler Travel Pants since I am petite, 4’11” 97 lbs and 70 years old with small waist and fuller hips hourglass figure. It’s always hard to find pants to fit, even with hemming, but I took Alex’s petite notes to heart, as well as investing in clothes you love for travel as an investment.

I bought them in black XS and on sale in grey, and had them hemmed. They do fit snugly but I hope they will be comfortable and stylish for upcoming Zurich, Sicily, Amalfi Coast and Rome backpacking honeymoon! All inspired by Alex’s backpack video! Wish me luck!

Krista

I love your travel ideas! Going on a trip soon and need to update my travel wardrobe. These pants look like a great addition. They sound like they’d be really comfortable! Thanks for the ideas and please keep up the great work!

Julie

These are my favorite Athleta pants:

Endless pant Brooklyn ankle pant Brooklyn Heights jogger Venice jogger Trekki jogger Headlands hybrid jogger Salutation or Elation leggings

Obviously a big fan of Athleta!. They have a wide range of colors and sizes and their pants are packable, breathable, dry quickly and are super comfortable. You can build your entire travel capsule around just a few of these pants.

You’re definitely are a big fan Julie!!!

Diane Robino

Great information!

Ann Catherwood

I am on a 2 1/2 week trip in Spain, Italy and France right now. The Eddie Bauer departure pants have been outstanding! Comfy, lightweight with a tad of stretch. They can dress up or down and they don’t stretch out!

Janice Lacy

Excellent post on travel pants! Thanks for the information!

Nancy

These are the best travel pants ever! I was very hesitant to spend so much on one item but they are totally worth it. I wore them all through Ireland, Scotland and London. They were great for golf, the theater and sightseeing. No regrets and am looking for a 2nd pair.

Kathryn

You have such great suggestions, including suggestions for petites, that I had to try these pants. I must be the only person that does NOT like them. They feel like parachute material and the fit is really off (even though I used the size chart). They are too long for someone that is 5’1 and no petite option available. They are also too tight in the rise.

rlynn

I was concerned about fit on petite frame. Thank you for your review.

Lindy

I love all of the tips on travel and especially on attire, such as these pants. I was not familiar with them prior, but watching the video and reading the comments, I will definitely check them out for a future travel purchase!

Cynthia Halpin Brown

I find having pockets super helpful when on the road.

Stephanie P

They look like pants that would work well for everyday life as well!

Monica Muldoon

Anxious to try these pants!!!

Dana Simpson

These pants are amazing! I got a pair second hand on poshmark for $50. I am a petite person. 4’11” and 98lbs and the size small fits great. I did have to hem them. They are light weight, breathable, and stylish. When I spilled a whole water bottle on them while on the plane. I was shocked at how quickly they dried. They can be easily washed in a sink and air dried in a few hours in a hot climate. My husband is jealous of my new travel pants and wants a pair like them for himself now. Get these! They are the best!

Julie Roberts

I love the look of these pants. I hope I win some!

Marie Negro-Leoce

Love all of your packing tips…now I just need to go on vacation 😂😂

Julie

Getting ready for a trip to Ireland! These pants look like just the ticket! Thank you!

Patti

So thankful for this ost about ants!!

Nicole

I have the Skylar pant in dark gray . They are the ideal travel pant . The fabric is similar to a golf tech fabric that never wrinkles. Very breathable, always looks great . However, they run really small . I am a size 8p and wear their size Large with no room to spare . I find them to be very short waisted too.

Gabriela

Great ideas on these travel pants! Love your posts

Tami Bern

So intrigued by these pants!

Susan Erhardt

I like the look of the Athleta pants, and I imagine the quality is good too. I’m over cheap clothes that don’t last.

Barbara R

Pants have always one of the hardest things for me to find with a good fit and stylish look. I’ll be looking at all of these options!

Rebecca

This is really helpful! I definitely want to try the quince pants. Thanks!

Kim OConnor

You have the best style! The Anatomie pants are the BEST! They’re comfy for the plane and they wash really well. I brought them to Ireland and they were perfect. Take up very little room in your bag also!

Carolyn Weir

I’ve tried anatomie pieces recommended by TFG, and they have not disappointed! So light weight and easy to wash/dry/pack.

Ellen A.

I have been following your Anatomie reviews since I first discovered TFG. But I’ve recently become obsessed with all things Anatomie since they opened a pop-up store nearby! I am 70+, 5 ft., 118 lbs., petite but not slender; and having a shop nearby to try things on has been amazingly helpful! While the Skyler didn’t work for me, for those gals like me who have age-related “figure flaws”, I’ve had good luck with the Thea (designed for curvy fit) and Sonia (also curvy). The straight leg silhouette is also very flattering. The Flora ponte knit is also a great fit, soft and oh-so-comfortable. I have size S in all. I also have two jackets (S fit fine, but I opted for M for better layering opportunities) and four tops. Love TFG’s travel fashion wisdom!

Diana Wood

They look great. Unfortunately out of my size in black. Maybe they’ll get more before I go. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sandra Cooper

These pants look like they’d be great. Thanks for the review

Kate

Thanks for all your tips. I would also love tips for those of us over 60 who might not wear such body con clothes. We need ideas Too! Thanks!

Marcia

The Anatomie Andrea Contrast-Panel Legging are my FAVORITE pant ever – for travel – for life!

Tami Lewis

I love these pants! I recommend trying different styles to see what fits your needs. I wear the Marisa pants to work, skyler to travel and Andrea as casual wear. My only complaint is the stitching on the waist of the Andrea pants is not as durable as the other styles.

April D

I have to agree! Thanks to TFG a few pairs have found there way into my traveling wardrobe! There is not a single trip, in any season, that a pair (or 2) doesn’t find their way into my suitcase. Anatomie is worth the investment and the Skylar and Andrea are my favorites!

Dani Zlenko

Great summary, great ideas. Learned about many new brands. Not just for travel but for everyday busy life. Thanks!

Suzanne Hodes

These pants are fabulous

Kathleen Boyle

The Skylers have been a game changer for me on both my biweekly business travel and rarer than I’d like personal trips. I have literally worn these pants on a flight then straight to meetings and then onto work dinners feeling polished and comfortable at the same time. I’m amazed at how functional they are in every time of weather. When paired with an under layer they have been awesome in snow and chill to the bone rain as well as light in tropical humid or desert 100+ degree temps. This is especially helpful to me as now need to cover my legs as a skin cancer survivor. I’m curious about the white pants – are they opaque or a bit see through? Would love to hear from someone who has purchased.

Debra Kim

Hi Alex, My 12 y.o. daughter and I just started our worldly travels. After spending 3 weeks in Paris & London and not being happy with what I packed and how I looked I began to do research and found your blog. It’s because of you that I found Anatomie. The skyler was out of stock in my size but then I saw you in the Andrea leggings. I was hesitant to order at first – didn’t know how the contrast leggings would look. Glad I did. Love them! Comfortable and stylish. Saving $ to buy more. Huge fan of your blogs. Made me a better traveler and my daughter will be an expert at packing for travel – Deb

Stacy

I’m 5’1″ and am so glad you always have great petite suggestions!

Christie Holan

Love the straight leg and lightweight fabric. Looking at purchasing these for hiking, camping and travel. I am also petite and find many pants are too high waisted for me. Especially the current high rise styles. Would you say these are more of a mid-rise? Thanks

Linda

Love your tips and have not bought these pants..YET. I have hips and thighs so not sure if these will do, but it’s a start to get me looking. Thanks!

Deborah

These pants look amazing!!! Going to London in October. Love this. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

Jackie

I purchased the Skyler pants based on Alex’s recommends and love them , but for my body I prefer Anatomie’s Kate pant. Over the last few years I have purchased them in 4 colors and absolutely love them. I can wear them in their own for warmer weather and layer leggings under them for cooler weather.

Leslie Lukehart

I too am a devotee of the Skyler! I just came back from a year in Europe and these are the pants that never stopped giving….1. They have been washed and washed and they look new 2. They air dry in no time flat, and 3. They are so flattering even on a 60+ year old body. I love Anatomie for travel there is no better place to shop for great travel outfits!

Kathy Mingo

thank you for such a detailed blog. Lots of ideas that I will certainly be researching. such a great website and FB page.

Daga Denslaw

Love the Andrea leggings/ pants.

Erin

This site and the Facebook group have been incredible for my trip to Ireland in may 2023. I’m a HUGE planner. I’m finding so many great ideas!

M.Adams

Great recommendation. Can you recommend a high waisted travel pant?

Lee Ann Green

Alex, I love your thorough research. Every time I see a post from you, I think”How did she know I was looking for that” seems to come in handy. Thanks.

Jennifer Bennett

I bought the Skylers on your suggestion and love them! They really are as versatile as you describe; I’ve used them for hiking as well, especially where you need to protect your skin from sun or mosquitos. But now you have me curious to try the Andrea leggings, I like the contrast panel and elastic waistband. Also, thank for bringing packing cubes to the world…they’ve been a game changer / life saver and I tell everyone about them! 🙂

Sheryl Billman

I love your suggestions for comfortable international travel. Also love the packing cubes you suggest. They have made my travel life so much more organized and stress free. Thank you!

Rosa S

It was only reading un TFG about the Anatomie pants that I found about them. Visited Anatomie’s website quite often to see if they would have some sort of discount because they price was a little to high for me. No luck! Still bought them and I don’t regret it! Have taken them to Europe, Canada, domestically in the USA and they are fantastic. Planning on buying one more.

Kathy

I love all of these styles but alas, I am too fat. At 5’8″ and 210lbs, they won’t fit me. Are there similar pants in plus sizes?? I love a good cargo pant!

Jill Meier

Taught my friends all about capsule wardrobes and COO on a recent trip to France and Belgium. And, can’t say enough about the tapered joggers from Old Navy. Just as good as Athleta, IMO, and much more budget-friendly. Happy Travels!!

Mechele

I love the style of these pants, but I wish they had some larger sizes for the plus size ladies.

Mary Hughson Brown

I am traveling with my Nomad Lane green bag now. I love the substantial zippers! Also, I am wearing an Amazon skirt that you recommended and it is comfy and cute for the plane.

Shannon

I love the look of these pants – I’m going to order them soon so I have them next time I need them!

Lisa Michels

I will have to give these pants a try! They look comfy!

Sandra

Recently found your website and I am learning so much! Our youngest will graduate from college in the spring and then we are looking forward to all the traveling. I have been slowly buying items and now I will be considering these pants. Thanks!

Becky Reeves

I am going to Greece in October, these are definitely on my radar now!

Anne Earnhardt

This has been really helpful! I’m always looking for great travel pants – packable, quick to dry. But also cute to wear every day! Thank you!

Allison Tom

Always looking for a good pair of travel pants for petites! I’m also 5’2″, so I’m *always* having to hem my pants, even the “petite” ones. Good to see that these fold well so that you can play with the length before final hemming.

Ellen S.

These look like wonderful travel pants! Would love to see if they cover plus sizes but will need to check that out shortly. Anybody have experience with that?

Love the Andrea pant, so easy to dress up or down!

Debra Henderson

Anatomies’s pants actually fit my relatively fit 67-year old, size 10 body like a glove! In fact, they are very slim-fitting, but SO comfortable!

ann hesser

Great pants for traveling!!

Hoo boy! I don’t even know you, but I apparently trust your travel recommendations to purchase THREE pr. of Anatomie pants! Of course, they were out of the Skyler in my size, but I managed to find several that suited me. That are scarily form-fitting for my fairly fit 67-year-old body, but they are very comfortable and look pretty good on! I’m a devotee, now!

Giuliana Canan

I’ve been looking for a good travel pant. Looks like I found it! Hope to win a gift so I can purchase for our upcoming trip to Italy! Thank you for always sharing great info!

Rhonda

oooh! i will definitely be adding these to my xmas wish list! thank you

Kim

LOVE your tips for fashionable travel! And your contest prizes are amazing!!

Thanks Alex, based on your recommendations, I have several Anatomie pieces. Almost every single time I travel, I pack something Anatomie, and usually wear the pants as my travel outfit to look put together.

Kelly

These are super cute on you. I’m a 12/14 not sure about that fit for us curvy women. Any suggestions?

Laurie Owens

In the planning stages for a trip to Ireland and Scotland – so glad I found your blog. I was wondering how I would pack everything I would need for my trip. Love the packing lists and apparel suggestions !

Randi

I have a pair of Anatomie Skylar pants that I bought on Poshmark for a reduced amount. They do run small for sure, but I think it’s the fit and I have to get used to it. Thank you for all of your great recommendations. (I also have lots of merino wool!).

Eden Thurston

Thanks to you, Alex, and all your recommendations, my bank account is smaller and my closet is stuffed and I just can’t stop following your every move. As a rare traveller there’s little excuse for my obsession, except that you haven’t steered me wrong once. As with everything else you have recommended, I will no doubt swallow the high cost of these pants and finally give them a try. Keep being you. You’re awesome, and women travellers around the world are so lucky to have you in their corner. Best, Eden from Ottawa. XO

Alexandra Dudley

I discovered the Anatomie Skyler and Andrea pants as well as the Kenya jacket several years ago thanks to your site. They are all great pieces. Do you have any other favorite Anatomie wardrobe staples that are you wear often? I really value that you only recommend pieces that you believe are great quality. Thank you!

Suzy West

Love reading about the perfect pant while currently touring Gothenburg, Sweden!

Rachel LaBelle

These pants look amazing! Thanks for such a thorough review.

Rachel L

These look like the perfect travel pants! Thank you for such a thorough review!

Sue Vetter

I just ordered 3 pairs of anatomy pants for my upcoming trip to Germany and Spain. Thank you for the suggestion. Anatomie ia a new discovery for me

K. Doucette

I love the look of these pants but I adore the hat you’re wearing in the Venice train station picture. Can I hijack this thread a bit to ask what the brand is and where you bought it? I’ve been to Italy twice and just can’t find the perfect hat that fits well and frames and shades my face.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately the sunhat is from H&M but it’s no longer available. ?

But last year I decided to finally try out the Wallaroo sun hat which is THE most popular sun hat voted by the TFG readers. I get it now—so obsessed and definitely worth the money! You can learn more about it here: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-sun-hats/

Hope this helps!

Cynthia

I bought a pair of these, and they are great, but they are very thin material do show every lump and bump. These days there are lots of lightweight easy wash quick dry hiking pants, some which are stylish/simple design. I have a pair of charcoal Exofficio pants which I wore hiking in France, and looked good enough to be out and about in Paris and Milan.

Hi Cynthia, thank you for sharing your favorite travel pants with us! ?

Gail B Jones

great help!

Hi Gail, so pleased you found the article helpful! Happy travels! ?

Carissa

Happy 10 year anniversary, TFG! I found TFG around 4 years ago and it’s been such a joy reading your articles and connecting with folks on the community Facebook page. Here’s to many more anniversaries 🙂

Kris

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I ordered a pair in black. They arrived today and I LOVE THEM! Headed back online to pick up other colors. Keep the great clothing and travel tips coming!

Hi Kris, that is amazing, so pleased you love them!!!!! Happy travels! ❤️

Lynn

The Skyler pants are gorgeous but I found that you have to be a tiny, hipless wonder to wear them. Same with Luisa. I tried the Techno Chino but Small was too small, Large was too Large. Medium may have worked but by then then I got tired of sending them back. I went with Athleta Brooklyn. Less expensive and work for my body type much better.

Hi Lynn, so pleased you have found some pants that work well for you, thank you for sharing! ?

Louisa King

They look great on you and very Versatel. I am tall so I would need to try them on. I don’t want them to be floods. By the way, which brand are your sandals that are beige and black? Your earring them in the first few pix I think. They are flat but look like they contour your sole. Thanks!

Hi Louisa, thank you so much, that is so kind of you! ? The sandals are the Naot Sabrina: http://amzn.to/2Gaj7BQ Over the years, I’ve traveled with them to Central America and Southeast Asia and found them to be the most comfortable sandals ever! You can learn more about them here: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/the-best-sandals-for-travel-this-summer/ Hope this helps. Happy travels! ?

Nicole

Hey there, love the black sleeveless cowl neck style top you are wearing in a few of these pics…what brand is it? Thanks!

Hi Nicole, I think you are referring to the Michael Stars Drape Neck Jersey Top: https://bit.ly/2WiYaMa If this is not what you meant, please let us know and we can have another look for you. Happy travels! ?

Thanks Alex!

Alice

I bought the Anatomie Skyler pants, finding them on sale for $166 at Neiman Marcus. Even at that price I found them very expensive. I ordered a size M as I normally wear a size 6. I found the fit very snug, and fell that a size L would be too big. This brand just does not fit me right I guess. A bit disappointing. I will never get to experience the awesomeness for myself.

Jasmine Mazlumyan

Hi! I LOVE your blogs and fashion tips! I’m wondering what boots are you wearing in your Madrid picture? If you don’t mind sharing. They are soooo cute and I’ve been looking for a pair like that for years since I lost my last pair.

Thank you so much Jasmine for your lovely comment!! The boots are ones I had custom Made in Hoi An, Vietnam. I looooved them so much but unfortunately the quality wasn’t good so they didn’t last long. I bought the Steve Madden Troopa shown in this article to replace them: shown in this post: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-travel-shoes-womens-leather-boots/ Hope this helps 🙂

Kerri

I have been listing after these pants for a while now. They just look so flattering, and I think they would be great for my upcoming France trip. I usually travel in legging here in the states, but would like to look more elevated there. Easy wash in the sink so I can go carryon only is also important. Does this brand ever go on sale?

Hi Kerri, yes it does just not very frequently. They do tend to have sales for major holidays, end of summer etc.

If you receive our newsletters or join our TFG FB group we do alert everyone when they’re having a sale.

You can join the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/travelfashiongirls

Carol

Nice pants! Dark colors are not appropriate for a Safari in Africa. Trust me. Stuck to tan or khaki. Do these pants come in lighter colors?

Hi Carol, the Anatomie Skylar Pants are available in five colors; white, black, khaki, grey and navy. You can find the different options here: https://anatomie.com/products/skyler-travel-pant?rfsn=97672.772e If you are looking for some tips to help you pack for a safari, you may find this post helpful: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/safari-clothing-packing-list-what-to-wear-on-an-overland-africa-trip/ Happy travels!

Andrea Killingsworth

I discovered Anatomie by reading your blog. Huge fan ever since! Thanks for introducing me.

Katherine

Wow. Thank you for this Alex. As a traveler, we always wanted to feel comfortable as much as possible. This is such a great deal!

Yay, so pleased you enjoyed our review of the anatomie skyler travel pants Kathy!! Happy travels!

Joan Cait

Hi Alex I am intrigued by these pants. Do you know if they ship to Canada and what is their return/exchange policy? I have a hard time getting pants to fit, even when I can go to the store and try them on. Thanks.

Hi Joan, Anatomie offer international shipping and free returns. I love having the free returns because you can test out their products without the commitment. You can find more about their shipping and return policy here: https://anatomie.com/pages/shipping-return-policy . Hope this helps! 🙂

Jodie Myers

Hi Alex! The pants you are wearing look & sound amazing, but when I click on the link, the Skyler pants are now skinny style. Where can one get the ‘old’ version you are wearing?

Hi Jodie, I am wearing the skyler pants which you can find here: https://anatomie.com/products/skyler-travel-pant?rfsn=97672.772e The skyler pants are labeled as being “skinny” fit but they are more of a slim fit and aren’t as tapered at the calves or ankles as your average pair of skinny jeans. Hope this answers your question! 🙂

Melani Monk

I backpacked Europe with three pairs of these amazing lightweight pants for a month. Although pricey I was able to roll them up as capris and not pack capris. They have so much stretch, for cold weather I was able to layer two pair and not bring thermals! Multi-tasking comfortable, stylish and super light-weight. I’m shopping their sales to add to my collection.

Hi Melani, thank you so much for sharing your fantastic Anatomie Sykler pants, it is awesome to hear my readers love them as much as I do!! 🙂

Glorias

Hi Alex, I loved your post! I am a shopaholic and I have a lot of dresses in my wardrobe. But still, I like to shop for each of my travelings. And obviously, I am gonna purchase pants because next week I am going to Australia to enjoy my vacation 🙂

Hi Glorias, thank you so much for your lovely comment, so glad you loved the post!! Enjoy shopping for your travel pants for your vacation!! Have an amazing time during your trip to Australia! 🙂

Marcy Schackne

Great read …HOWEVER … the clothing choices are waaaay, too expensive. AND, I’m not thin, so the tight fit isn’t so good. I’ll keep trying, though.

Mary

I love the look of the grey shoes you are wearing in your Europe photos -what brand are they, where can I get them?

Hi Mary, thank you for your comment! I wore the Skechers featured at the top of this post: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-slip-on-sneakers/ Hope this helps! 🙂

Arpita

Hi Alex what sandle are hou wearung in your Venice picture?

Hi Arpita, thank you for reaching out! I am wearing my Naot sandals, on my latest trip to Europe I wore them nonstop and they were perfect and so comfortable. The Naot sandals are featured in this post: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/the-best-sandals-for-travel-this-summer/ Hope this helps 🙂

Kimberly Gauthier

hi, these loook and sound very nice. but do you have any recommendations for us tall, thin women (5’10”)?

Hi Kimberly, thank you for your comment! To get you the best feedback, I have posted your question on the TFG facebook page as our readers have the best tips. Keep an eye out for their replies from Friday. https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/ Hope this helps! 🙂

K

I’m 5’10”, 130-135 lbs, usually a 34” inseam and US size 4/6, 29” waist, 39” hips. I got the size Large in the Skyler pants and LOVE them. Fits like a straight leg pant (not skinny at all) and the length is just right for that. At first I thought they were too short, but after wearing them decided they were perfect. The waist is quite loose on me, but perfect through the hips (not too tight), and they’re so comfy that I decided not to take the waist in. Perfect for work or lounging at home.

Lisa

Can you tell me where you got your belt? Love me it with the pants and the twelve ways looks you did.

Hi Lisa, unfortunately the product sold out some time ago so we’re not sure of the brand. Sorry we couldn’t have been more helpful 🙁

Robin Parks

Those are the nicest appearing travel pants ive come across. Of course they look nice on youthful you! Im going to purchase a pair; youve shown the versatility they hold.

Hi Robin, thank you so much for your feedback! 🙂

Allie

These are so cute, but a little pricey! Do you have another, a little bit affordable recommendation that is similar?

Hi Allie, thanks for your comment! We have a variety of articles featuring different travel pants. Take a look: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/travel-pants/ Hope this helps!

Rosa Sullivan

I just took my Anotomie Susan skinny ankle pants to a trip to London, Paris and Rome. They were awesome! Wore them while traveling from city to city and while sightseeing in London and Paris. Soo comfy and stylish!!

alex

That’s awesome Rosa! Glad they worked out so well 🙂

Angela

Thank you Alex for your blog. I have referenced it about five times for my upcoming travels and going to a very hot area (the CA desert) in August. I’m sweating just thinking about it so I am considering the pants due to the long flights and just want something easy to put on. Found your FB page too and looking forward to more articles.

Thanks Angela, glad you like it! The pants will for sure be comfortable in the flight but you might prefer a dress for the desert heat 😉

Ree

I love your blog! I think I will take the leap and purchase a Skyler pants. I am 5 feet, about 98 lbs. Should I purchase the XS or SM? What are your thoughts?

Thanks Ree! I’d say XS but if you call them, they’re customer service is SUPER helpful with recommending the best sizing 🙂

Gudrun

I recently ordered the Paola Pants and I’m super happy with them. I’m 5,11 and nearly all pants I try are way too short (I need pants with 34-36 inseam). The only thing I wasn’t happy about is the price tag..225 USD is a lot of money and when you live in the EU there is another 100 USD in taxes and VAT to add on the price. …unfortunately there is no EU retailer so if you have a friend in the US better have the pants sent to him/her and have him then forward to your EU country (DON’t include the price tags, declare it as a present).

Good tip! I try to ship items from the US to a friend and then have them sent to me without labels and with a value of under $20Usd. Years later, they still look good as new, though 😉 glad you liked them!

babe

Nice blog, those pants are awesome, got some sweet stuff on my blog too hope you can check to..

Thanks babe!

Mavis

These look great…….however….who has $225 to spend on travel pants, anymore suggestions for something more affordable?

DailySportsUSA

The most important that you were feeling comfortable wearing them. Second, i like them, i also like the color.

Cathy Blackwell

Hi Alex – I simply love your TFG! I have found great information from you and from women who post on your FB page. Thank you for having such a variety of posts with great information. Normally I wouldn’t spend $225 for a single pair of pants but I trust you and simply had to try them. I ordered both the Skyler and Paola in XL to see which fit better. Unfortunately, being a 5’10” 64 year old who while neither large nor small found these pants to be too tight and the Skyler too short. I wear anything from a 12 to a 14 to a 16 depending on the company. The XL did fit (though tight) but at my age I’m just no longer comfortable in skin tight pants and with any little weight fluctuation I may not be able to zip them up! I can see why they would be a great travel pant though and I am sad that I had to send them back. But I will continue to hunt for something like these light weight gems that run a little larger and longer.

Cheri

Have you found anything that runs a little larger? And maybe not so expensive? I also wear size 12 US usually and have not ordered the Skyler because it sounds like even XL will not be large enough. I don´t mind a snug fit but don´t want a muffin top, since I carry the weight in my belly. I´m not tall like you (darn it) so the length won´t be a problem. Thanks.

Hi Cheri, thank you for reaching out. If you are not sure about the sizing for Anatomie, you can also call them to ask them their recommendations for sizing. The readers say that they are incredibly helpful!

We also have a selection of articles featuring the best womens plus size clothing: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/travel-clothes-extended-sizing/ I would also recommend that you join the TFG Facebook Group and post your question about pants there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/travelfashiongirls/ Here you have the opportunity to ask for specific recommendations based on your requirements. With over 20,000 members, there are women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Hope this helps! ?

I am currently traveling in Europe for 6 weeks and brought 2 pair of pants. My go to are Tommy Bahama golf pants because they are extremely lightweight, pull on with 2 front pockets and a zippered back pocket. They have a zipper on the legs which allows me to change from my compression socks to regular socks very easily. They dry overnight, are very comfortable and look nice. My second pair is a heavier weight Columbia pant which has sun protection and works well for me for hiking.

Hillary P

Yay! Thanks for the suggestion on the pants. I just ordered myself two pairs, one in size s and one in size m. I’m eager to see how they fit and will return the unwanted one. Super cute pictures you included to support your advice. Thank you! Hillary

alex

Glad you’ve found something that works for you Hillary! Let me know which works better!

kc

Do you have any suggestions for us plus size girls. I looked at their size chart and even an xl was to small 🙁

There are some great suggestions in this post for you: https://travelfashiongirl.com/plus-size-travel-clothes-for-women/ Hope this helps!

Bel

Alex, The options for plus size women en who travel are far too limited. We can’t get good pants or quality items that last, look good, wash and wear well and are available to anyone living outside the US. Much of what you have listed, is to be honest, unsuitable, too heavy in fabric to travel well or just plain frumpy when it comes to puttng it on. Some of the pieces I recognise in your pictures and I can tell you from experience with those manufacturers, they are not suited to suitcase life with limited washing options. Most plus denim is thick and heavy and no good for dryers as the elastase either shrinks or breaks in the heat. Shirts are cut terribly and don’t iron well or again lose size and shape from tangling with a hotel laundry service dryer. Blanket scarves are too short and much of what is available only comes in black, black &, ooohhh, black. Can you please suggest to some of your manufacturers that items in their best sellers in plus sizes would be very much welcomed by many of us over Sz16. A lot of us are happy to pay for quality, if only they would make it. Anatomie is a perfect example of this. Same with merino wool base layer manufacturers. Plus size is a huge market they are all missing out on.

Hi Bel, When I travel, I only bring one pair of jeans but I don’t pack my denim. I wear it on the plane and don’t wash it on the go. This is one way to save space. I 100% agree that all clothing brands are lacking greatly in the plus size market. Unfortunately, I don’t work with many brands and the ones I have suggested to create a wider range in sizes said they attempted to but the sizes over a Large went unsold.

Today we featured an article with a reader’s exact plus size packing list: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/carry-on-plus-size-packing-list-for-winter/ Furthermore, we have more reader plus size recommendations here: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/travel-clothes-extended-sizing/ and a section on plus size brands here: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-online-shopping-sites/ I hope these help!

Joy Acoba

they don’t deliver this pants in Hawaii, i wanted the grey color and anatomie website does not deliver in hawaii. they have it in Amazon the black color. where else I can buy this? thanks. your website I found it very helpful by the way! I am planning to travel around the world so Ive been reading peoples experience and I’m buying clothes that will fit in my 25L back pack lol well that is the plan! haha

Rebekah

I love your posts! I was wondering though, have you tried the Kate pant. I’m short like you (only 5’1″) and was considering buying a pair of Anatomie pants, but I’m torn between the Skyler and the Kate. Can you compare them? Also, do you fold the Skyler pants up inside (i.e., so the fold doesn’t show) — and it just stays? 🙂

Travel Fashion Girl

Hey Rebekah 🙂 I actually have a post comparing the different Anatomie pants! http://bit.ly/2c0ys9P

Loretta W.

I have one bad thing to say about this pants – camel toe. O.M.G.

I bought them – the most expensive pants purchase I’ve ever made – because of this blog’s recommendation. I don’t regret it. The pluses:

1. They weight about the same as a polyethylene lunch baggie. Unbelieveable. 2. Amazingly durable construction – buttons, seams, etc. Tough, tough, tough. 3. Absolutely opaque fabric. 4. Dries in like, 5 seconds after washing. 5. Fantastic length for the long-legged among us, like myself, and easily rolls up to serve as capris, etc.

They cling for days. They don’t have a smooth hand – they cling. That’s not so bad because the fabric is opaque, and the length of the leg is generous, so nothing is riding up. But they cling.

Camel toe is terrible. For pants this costly, maybe a U-seam instead at the crotch? I have a lot of tunic tops and long sweaters, so I go with that, but seriously.

Ty for honesty as I am considering purchasing these pants based on the blog recommendations. I hate CT and Moose knuckles so I am particular about my purchases.

They have an excellent return policy just in case 😉

Marta

Beach/and sail vaca. Any idea how these hold up.possibly getting some salt water on them?

They are very durable Marta! Happy travels!

I have been following Travel Fashion Girl for a long time..because I like to travel! and because I enjoy all of your recommendations, comments and information.about a variety of clothing and travel issues and questions. I do have a question for you- I am not exactly a “young lady” like you and most of your followers and consequently many, if not most, of your clothing is designed for a much younger audience. I would like to see more articles, travel clothing suggestions and ideas and travel options for ladies over 60…is this a possibility? thank you k

Hi Kathleen, thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m happy to know you enjoy Travel Fashion Girl 🙂 I promise you I’ve been working very hard the past year to try to find writers over the age of 60 to share their packing advice. It hasn’t been easy but when I do find someone, I guarantee you’ll see more articles specific to this age group. In the mean time, here are a few posts that you might like:

This is great! I never really thought about buying pants specifically for travel, but it makes sense.

Catherine Burbank

As a young >60 yrs woman I appreciate the sentiments. I think these pants look great, but I am a little put off by the zip fly and button, methinks possibly uncomfortable on a long flight. I would love to try them, but the price tag is off-putting. I like the Stehman Ina pants which are about half the price (but still pricey) Yeah, cost/wear, I know. I have worn those pants to death, wearing to work 2x/week, and wearing for travel. Quick drying, no bagging, and no zips. Have been described as “pajama pants” but still look stylish.

SunDappled

Kathleen, have you found the blog Une Femme d’un Age Certain? Susan B. travels quite a bit, and before every trip she posts about what she is packing (she travels with only a carry-on bag). I like her style and her writing. Check her blog out, it may be what you are looking for.

Ann

Thanks for this review Alex, very helpful. I’m preparing for an upcoming trip and was totally sold! BUT then I went to the website and they’re $225 a pair!! Yikes. Definitely not for those who cannot afford to blow that kind of cash on a single pair of pants. Ouch. Will be looking elsewhere. 🙁

Hi Ann, totally understandable! They are quite an investment but totally worth it. Here are a few other brands with more options: https://travelfashiongirl.com/travel-clothing-brands/

Erin

Are the front and back pockets on the Skyler pants real pockets, or just seams? My old favorite travel pants are Lole Passage pants, which are no longer being made ( http://www.rei.com/product/836655/lole-passage-pants-womens ). They have two pockets in the front, two in the back, and a zipper pocket on the side, and all of them are big enough for a smartphone to fit completely inside. Now I’m kind of spoiled and want any new travel pants to have similar pockets, because it’s so much nicer to keep your phone/small camera/billfold in a pocket instead of messing around with a backpack. Thanks!

Hi Erin, yes they’re real pockets 🙂 I’ve actually stuffed them quite a bit although I wouldn’t recommend doing so all day because the fabric is quite thin and whatever you have in your pockets does stand out. They’re awesome pants!

Susan

Thank you for this informative post, I was just wondering if you have any suggestions for plus size women?

Hi Susan, here is our full list of the best shopping sites including plus-size: https://travelfashiongirl.com/best-online-shopping-sites/

Have you also seen these other posts? https://travelfashiongirl.com/cheap-plus-size-clothing-for-travel/ https://travelfashiongirl.com/plus-size-packing-tips/

Genia

Do you have any updates to your “best travel pants” suggestions? How are these pants holding up? Some of the Anatomie web site links seem to have become defunct. Thanks!

HI Genia, these pants are long lasting! Although now I try to test out different pants so I’ll wear them based on destination. Sorry about the Anatomie links they have a new website but now the links have all been fixed 🙂

Melinda

1.) These are the most comfortable pants in the entire world! (the only pair on par would be my Outdoor Research Ferrosi hiking pants, which aren’t as great for fancy dinners…) 2.) The customer service at Anatomie is beyond compare!

I ordered a pair last week specifically for a trip to North Carolina for a week with my cousins. They arrived today, and the Mediums fit like a dream! (I’m 5’4″ and 140#, very hippy.) But not all was not well in the fashion world, there was a 2″ hole in the front pocket!

The fabric hadn’t been lined up properly, and just wasn’t joined, no reflection on the quality of the material, just a case of missed Quality Control. Well, I fly out in 36 hours….what’s a girl to do?! I went onto the Live Chat with Anatomie, explained my scenario and they’ve just rush shipped me a pair to arrive by tomorrow morning!

TL;DR – These pants are amazing, and Anatomie will basically be getting all of my travel wardrobe monies forever and ever and they really know how to make a girl feel taken care of!

That’s so great! I’m happy you love them as much as I do. They are absolutely amazing. I still can’t believe how versatile they are and the premium customer service experience is gold!

michelle

Hi Alex, just discovered your website and LOVE it! Taking a quick RTW trip in November to SEA then France and Sweden. I’m going to get the Skylar’s. Do you recommend black or grey? My preference is the black, but will it be too hot for SEA? Thanks!

Hi Michelle, congrats on your trip! Anything is basically too hot for SEA so take your pic 😉 I liked both colors but personally, I love wearing black so it’s made more sense for my style. Determine what other colors you’ll be wearing and what other color pants you want to pack.

Have you read this already: https://travelfashiongirl.com/rtw-packing-list-your-ultimate-guide-for-around-the-world-travel/

Black it is! I have to work a few days while there, so I’d prefer to keep it sharp. Yes I’ve read that article, as well as many others…repeatedly 😉 Thanks, Alex!

That’s a good choice – I was glad to have gotten a black pair – much more polished!

Mary

I decided to take a risk and ordered a pair of the Paola Pocket Pant which are in the sale so only $100 – the risk being I’m in the UK so with postage/ customs / returns if they didn’t fit it would be an expensive fail. However, I simply love them. They are so light, comfortable and most important really really flattering. My bum hasn’t looked this good in ages!!

THAT’s so good to hear! I love them so much 🙂

jessey

I like to travel with a couple of pair of cotton knit pants as well as a pair of black Chico Traveller pants. While they don’t have pockets, I don’t find that to be a problem as I usually have a sweater or lightweight jacket with pockets.

Will check those out. Thanks for sharing!

Tanya

Hi, I came across your blog years ago and bought my first Anatomie pants based on your review. I haven’t looked back and now own several different styles of pants, shirts and a jacket. Their clothing continues to hold up after many washes so have been worth the investment. They are great quality and are my go to for packing – stylish, versatile and lightweight! Thank you for all the information you have provided over the years.

Melanie

Hi Alex. Are these pants loud when you walk? I have a fabulous pair of Athleta pants (their new slim dipper) that I love, but they sound like a cargo pant. You know, the swish, swish sound you associate with hiking/ski pants. The updated style makes it very versatile, even for dressing up, but the sound gives it away. Thanks, Melanie

Hi Melanie, not at all loud. You can listen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lR5KpPikRM I’m wearing them in the presentation. Thanks!

lexie

I read a lot of comments from people saying the pants are a little too pricey… I am a college student/ traveler on a budget so I unfortunately have to agree at the moment. BUT, I have found the perfect budget pair of straight legged, light weight, scotch guard protected trekking/travel/casual/super cute pants. For those who cannot afford the seemingly perfect Anatomie pants, try Prana’s Meme pants! I cannot wait to take them on my upcoming trip to central america for cool nights in the jungle and higher elevation adventures.

Laurie

I was excited, as I clicked through the fit guide for apple shapes with a not-so-flat tummy. Then I saw the price! eeek! I’m spending a month in Italy in September, and $200 for pants seems like way too much, when I’m already stretched to the max with travel cost$. *sigh* Maybe next trip….. They look like great travel pants. 🙂

sheri

I agree. $200! eek! I really want them but wonder if my money could be spent on the road better. They look awesome though!

Hi Sheri, $200 can be spent on a variety of things on the road or at home. I’ve just gotten to the point where I rather buy investment pieces when it counts. It took me a long time to get to that point though 😉 It was hard to get into the quality versus quantity mindset for a crazy shopaholic like me!

Melissa

how do the pants work with thermals under? thanks

Perfectly! That’s how I’m wearing them in the snow 😉

Melani

So much stretch I’ve just worn a second pair of Skyler’s underneath! Still extremely comfortable!

Annelise

Love the different perspectives on these pants! For someone who can’t try them on, seeing different women in different pants is a huge help in deciding which pant would best fit my body. I would totally love to own a pair of Anatomie travel pants!

Hope I can find more pics to share 🙂

allyson becker

I like the idea of thinner weight slim pants. Sound very stylish and I would love to try them. Especially, since I recently lost 40 pounds.

Jeri Accardo

The one thing I MUST have when I travel is …………COMFORT!! These pants look like they defiantly fall in the category!

Yes they do!

Lorrie

What are the sandals you have on in the Koh Samui, Thailand pic?

Hi Lorrie, they are Ipanema sandals I bought in Malaysia. I’ve never found them again, which is so disappointing because I absolutely love that style! ?

maria de lemos

Love the slightly narrow pants. the colors they come in are fabulous and they match with just about anything! Great choice for traveling light 🙂

Homa

These pants look super cute and would definitely earn a spot in my backpack when travelling. I like dark pieces that I can match with a whole bunch of different things, and these seem to fit the bill perfectly!!

You have no idea how great they are 🙂

Ky

These pants seem amazing- that is great that you can wear them in cold and hot weather. They don’t even look like travel pants. I would were them for everyday purposes

They are perfect even when you’re not traveling 🙂

maricel

I want those pants they’re comfortable, can be worn anywhere, and iis quick to dry. That’s the kind of pants im looking for.

I’d be lost without them 🙂

I want those pants they’re comfortable, fits properly, and quick to dry that is the kind of pants I’ve been looking for.

Exactly! Hope you love them as much as I do!

Elizabeth K

Super cute!! I like how versatile they are.

Jessica

I love these pants, I would love to have some for my upcoming backpacking trip!

md kennedy

I’ve have never heard of Anatomie but I do so love these pants! I travel a lot and usually end up wearing a dressy but light pair of slim jeans on the plane and pretty much everywhere….would love another option and these look awesome!

Hope you like them as much as I do 🙂

rebeka deleon

i like the look, color and they look very comfortable.

Heather

These look so comfy for traveling!

Jet-Set Jen

Thanks for the thorough and fantastic review. I can see these pants as carrying me through all the seasons and all my destinations.

Marti

The Skyler looks very cute, but so does the Paola… how to choose?!?!

Hi Marti! Do you prefer narrow or slightly flared?

Lynda Del

I want a pair of those fashionable pants!

Nena Sinclair

I love these pants! I would love to try them, I always have problems with my clothing when traveling, I unpack and nothing but a mess of wrinkles!

They’re pretty good with wrinkles. It seems that once you wear them for a bit the wrinkles go away. Perfection!

Jane

Could you find someone with a little more weight in the hip/thigh area….some of us shorter wider people don’t find skinny/slim fit very flattering. Afraid to try at this price….Thanks!

Good timing as I’ve just added a few more of their styles including the Paola which is offers a bit of a flared leg which flatters that majority of body types: http://bit.ly/2GCIJrC

Marita

I want a pair.

I would love to have a pair of these for travel, thanks for sharing.

Patti

You can tell that these pants just look comfortable! The kind you could wear very day with everything!

Mary G

These pants look like they would be perfect for my next trip!

cathy

I wear a petite 6 or 8. What size would you recommend for me? I am only 5 feet tall.

Hi Cathy! I am 5’2″ weigh 110lb and wear the size small which fits comfortably and not overly tight. When I read their size description I considered getting a medium but I’m very happy I didn’t. Everyone raves about their customer service so they may be able to give you a good idea of what would work best for you. they also have an awesome no questions asked free return policy so that’s a great guarantee 🙂

Hannah

I love these! The fact that they seem like leggings but look like a nice pair of pants is perfect. I basically live in leggings, but when I travel this upcoming fall, these would be perfect for those countries where leggings as pants might not be so acceptable. Awesome find!

These are really comfy to wear for long periods of time. I’ve been wearing them in Egypt and have felt as if I’ve been wearing loungewear when I’ve taken the day off to work on TFG and sit cross legged in front of my laptop all day 😉

Christine

I need these pants! I travel to a lot of professional meetings where I also have some playtime. These would be great!

These are the perfect pants to take you from the boardroom and can act as activewear and still look chic for drinks!

Amanda

These looked fantastic (on you and on the website)… it’s just the price that makes me hesitate. There isn’t that many travel pants out there that can look so great and seem to have everything covered in terms of quality. Now that it has been a while- are the pants still holding up as well as when you first received them?

Thanks Amanda! Yes, they are still holding up and they actually continue to amaze me. I have to write an update for this review. I’m in Egypt now and I’ve been wearing them in 104F degree heat and wear them rolled up as capris: https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/photos/a.465514776805529.118705.460635497293457/614146105275728/

I am loving them here and the fabric is very comfortable in the hot weather. No need to buy genie pants I’ll only wear a few times! They’re easy to wear even when I sit cross legged to work on TFG all day 😉 The best part is even after they’re washed and hung to dry, they regain their shape and don’t stretch out like other fabrics!

Angela

I’ve been eyeing these pants for a while now. Hope to get them for my next adventure!

Paola

Hi, I think that is a great review for travelers. We are always looking for things that make our journeys more comfortable without losing the style. It is super important when you are taking long distant airplane trips to not strangle your hip and legs and allow the circulation of the blood properly . That is why is so important to choose the right pants and is better when it adds style. 😉

These have been really comfortable to wear on plane rides and long transport journeys. I like comfort on long trips and these have felt as good as wearing lounge wear 🙂

Wendy

These are super cute! I’d be nervous about how they’d look on my newly-40 body, but would love to try them for my upcoming trip to Ireland & Italy.

Hi Wendy, I find these to be very flattering especially since the waistline is in a good position, not too low and not too high. Alternatively, they also have other styles that look great to like the Paola: http://bit.ly/2GCIJrC

dori baranski

these pants look so cute!

Betsy

These look like a fabulous find. We’re going to cold weather from Hawaii after the first of the year and I’ve been looking for options. Loved the snow angel pic – it convinced me! 🙂

Ha, it was my first time making snow angels so I was excited! Paired them with a set of thick tights for the cold and the tights stayed dry underneath post-snow angels 🙂

michelle

Hi, I’m not a shop, I’m just selling a few pairs of these on ebay in size 10 and 12 because I wore these on a long hike across 2000 k in Spain and France back two years ago and then on planes across Europe in many countries over a 3 month period, then they became my favorites to wear cos I’d grown to love them so much when I got home. I wanted a new couple of pairs so when I found some wholesale I bought a few extra pairs to keep and some to sell. Quite honestly they are the best Jeans, can be dressed up or down and weigh nothing, dry overnight at the end of a bunk when hiking. Light as a feather and I can’t recommend them enough. I don’t know where you are but I’m in Australia. But I can post them on. I think Vigilante is a New Zealand brand. I’ve sent you the link to my ad.

Deb

I was so happy to find your website. I am 60, but I want to travel comfortably and with class. So many of the travel clothes websites are just dowdy/frumpy. I wear a size 6. Many things are too short for my age or to youthful. Yes, I do have a question. The Skylar pants look fabulous, but over my budget. I love skirts, skorts and sundresses, but I rely on long pants as I think they look better for my age. I will be in France in July! Hot! Can you recommend any other long pants, more affordable. I am reviewing your packing list to help. I am not going to overpack, but that means you need the right things to pack. Thanks!

Hi Deb, thanks for your comment! I’m going to post the question on Facebook to try to get a better response for you 🙂 Thanks!

Here are the responses: https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/posts/598480480175624?comment_id=6741757&offset=0&total_comments=10&notif_t=feed_comment

Some great ideas!

Karen

Do you know if you can get these in the UK? Shipping looks really expensive.

It’s not the shipping cost that gets you its the taxes! I paid as much money on import taxes as the value of the shoes I ordered during my time living there. My shoes cost $60 and I paid $50 in import tax because they calculate it based on total cost PLUS shipping, what a rip off!

My best advice is to have them shipped to a US address if you know anyone and then have them send it to you without the price tag so they don;t look new and put a very low value on them.

Diana

These Skyler pants look a lot like Lole’s Passage Pants. Would you happen to own any Lole travel type of pants? I’m just wondering how’d they’d comparing to the Amatomie pants.

Anita

I checked their website thoroughly and don’t see any size guide. Am I missing it? I see the body type guide but that isn’t helpful.

Cassie

$189 for ONE pair of pants?? That is beyond insane!! I don’t care how good ey are!

déjà pseu

These look great! Can you tell me what the fabric composition is (couldn’t find on the website) and whether they bag at the knees at all after a long flight?

Hi there! I believe they’re Lycra. To be honest, I haven’t noticed the knees but they do get looser around the thighs for me after wearing them for a while which is nice to have that stretch on long journeys 🙂

Mark

Anatomie has a body type guide and a fit and style guide here; http://bit.ly/2GHaG1C

Geraldine Van Biljon

Awesome advice and great pants!! This is a ”MUST HAVE”!

Such a good read and lovely pics to. Thanks for sharing! One question: What fabric are they made out of?

My bad 🙂 I checked out the link, found the info I needed. Thanks x

glad you like the pants and that you found the info you were looking for. I’ll also add the fabric to the post as well 🙂 thanks for reading!

Vanessa (@turnipseeds)

These look so lovely! I love that they look so versatile – it looks like it would be easy to dress them up for fancy occassions. Would you recommend them for hot, humid climates? (think: Thailand, Burma).

Hi Vanessa! I did wear them in Thailand last year and they’re lightweight enough to wear in humid areas, especially because they’re also water resistant and not as sticky as other pants when you feel sweaty – I prefer long dresses and skirt though in Thailand and shorts if possible. I can hardly tolerate any fabric when it’s hot…

Alyssa

These are AWESOME! My only question is how do I decide which color to get?!

they are awesome! the color depends on your style and the rest of your clothing. i have the grey which I really like because it’s neutral and goes with everything and doesn’t ever look dirty.

Hi, Alex. You’ve definitely sparked my interest in these pants! I do have a couple of questions, though. How well do you think they will fit a variety of body shapes? I am quite a bit taller than you, so I wonder if the pants are a good length for you, if they’d be too short for me. (I’m 5’6″ and wear a size 4.) Also, I have very wide hips compared to my waist and thicker calves than average. Your body type appears to be quite different from mine, so whereas the pants look great on you, I wonder if I’d have trouble with fit. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi Angela. thanks for your comment!

they have quite some stretch and feel like they mold with your body. i have an IMPOSSIBLE time finding pants so these were a total surprise when they fit so well. I also have wide hips and a smaller waist but they’re waist falls in a perfect location – not too high or low from the belly button. I guess the fit would depend on how other slim fit pants fit you on the calves. While they’re labeled as “skinny” fit pants they don’t have the slim fit on the calved most skinny cut pants/jeans do making them more roomy and flexible.

As for your height, I actually have them folded in so they are longer than they appear 🙂 I’m assuming the model in their pictures is at least 5’6″ the minimum model height so they’d probably fit you in length like they do her. I fold them in 2 inches 🙂

Kay Dougherty

These do look appealing although I have hips and so skinny pants aren’t always flattering. I’m 5’2″ also and am wondering how the sizes run in these pants? Of course I haven’t looked up the price yet and I’m thinking it might be high!

For my height, I am beyond happy with the way these fit me at my stature! In the pics, I have them folded in so they’re actually a longer than it shows on me but with a quick fold, no biggie and the fold stays in place. I fold them in by 2 inches.

They’re labeled as “skinny” but I wouldn’t say that is accurate. they’re more of a slim fit making them a more appealing cut to a wider range of body types. They’ve got a nice stretch making them more easy to mold to your body.

Sabrina

This is a great, versatile list! I’m curious about your top picks for trekking/hiking pants

Pants are probably the top choice for what to wear when traveling, over shorts and skirts. However, not all pants are created equal.

Pants can come with a variety of problems: waistbands digging into your skin, fabric wrinkling, or not being able to wear them with any other outfits. You may find yourself wishing you could just wear sweatpants and call it a day. However, sweatpants don’t exactly have a reputation of being stylish, so,  if you want to travel and still have a little style, we’ve got you covered.

There are four key elements that go into the best travel pants: comfort, fabric, style, and versatility. These options for men and women tick all the boxes, so you know you’re making a good investment. Below you’ll find categories for athleisure, activewear, and business casual, as well as many styles including plus-size options.

Table of Contents

FAQ About Travel Pants

What are the best travel pants for long flights.

As most things, it depends on your circumstances. If you are just traveling for leisure, a basic legging will do the trick for women, and you can’t go wrong with the Women’s UA Motion Ankle Leggings . They are a typical legging, with a pocket to keep anything you want handy while traveling, they allow for movement, and are super breathable, making them perfect for any trip you take. For men, the Public Rec All Day Everyday pants are our pick. More stylish than sweatpants, but just as comfortable, you’ll be a happy traveler when you wear these! As far as something dressier goes, for guys we pick the Prana Brion Pant II . They are super comfortable with 5 convenient pockets, and can easily be dressed up when you need them to be. For Women, our top choice is the Cotidie Harriet Trousers they are insanely comfortable, yet super stylish.

What are the most comfortable travel pants?

This depends on your personal preference, but typically, the simpler, and the more stretch, the more comfortable they are going to be. Alo’s ⅞ High-Waist Airlift leggings are a basic legging, but are soft, stretchy, and are probably the closest you will come to wearing pajamas while you travel. Again, for men the Public Rec All Day Everyday are going to give you the most comfort while on the road.

Should I wear shorts or pants on a plane?

It’s really a personal choice—but just keep in mind that it can get chilly on airplanes. You also may want to consider  your bare legs hitting up against the seat at the airport and on the plane, if you aren’t going to be able to shower shortly after you land, you may want to consider pants so you don’t have to worry about germs.

What material is best for travel?

Again, this can boil down to personal preference, however, a lightweight, breathable, stretchy material is going to be best. Typically stretchier material won’t wrinkle, which is an added bonus on top of comfort.

Editors’ picks: 27 products we tried and loved in June

Every month our team tries dozens of new-to-them items; in June we fell in love with products for our self-care routines, our pets and our travels.

June was a big month for the NBC Select team: We launched our first Travel Awards series, which was the result of testing more than 120 suitcases , duffels and accessories over the course of eight weeks this spring. Our team traveled to Japan, Europe, Maine and more trying products from major brands in the travel space, including Patagonia , July , Dagne Dover , Thule and Bagsmart , to name a few.

That’s why in our picks below, where we share our favorite products we tried from last month, you’ll notice a plethora of extra helpful travel finds. We also included standout items from other shopping categories, such as body washes , pet treats and pillows . Some are items we directly purchased, while others are courtesy gifts from brands.

Our favorite travel finds, uniqlo round mini shoulder bag.

Uniqlo Round Mini Shoulder Bag

As someone who has been a victim of pickpockets in the past, I’m now super cautious about keeping my items close and under strict surveillance while I’m traveling. During my two-week trip to Italy this month, I took this Uniqlo shoulder bag, and it has been one of the best travel purchases I’ve ever made — the strap is comfortable, it’s a great size and, most importantly, its crossbody style stays close and secure to my body at all times. The strap also doesn’t have a buckle, so I don’t run the risk of pickpockets unclipping it. Plus, unlike other travel backpacks I’ve used, it’s actually stylish and looks cute in pictures. The only downside is that the white color gets dirty very quickly, so it’s probably best to get a darker color if you’re prone to stains. – Mili Godio , updates editor

Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 (20L)

Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 (20L)

Peak Design makes one of our favorite travel backpacks , but this everyday bag is much more appropriate for my daily commute. The brand sent me one to try out, and I’ve been surprised at how much I like it over my previous daily backpack. It can easily carry my laptop, keys, wallet, headphones , earbuds , lunch, water bottle , hat , sunglasses and more, with plenty of room to spare.

My favorite feature is that you can access the main interior from the top flap or zippers on the left and right sides. I can slide the backpack from my back to my torso, unzip a side, and grab my over-ear headphones , all while speed-walking through NYC. It has so many useful little interior pockets, most of which have magnet-closures instead of zippers. The main compartment has removable dividers that help me better organize my stuff. It’s a little pricey, but I’ve loved using it over the past three weeks. — Harry Rabinowitz , reporter

July Compression Packing Shelf

July Compression Packing Shelf

I’m a compression packing cubes girl through and through. As a chronic overpacker, l find they let me pack more clothes than I probably need and I can never tell what cube has what without pulling everything out.

I’ve never seen or heard of packing shelves, so I was skeptical but curious about trying some out from July. It didn’t look like it would fit as many clothes as I typically squeeze into a packing cube, or have the same level of compression that I’m used to. However, I was able to pack more than seven outfits on its three shelves and organize them so that each shelf had two days’ worth of clothes. Once I unpacked my bags, I would unzip the shelves and hang them up in the closet using their hooks. Doing this made traveling so much easier since I wasn’t unpacking and repacking everything, and I was able to stay organized with my clothes. — Bianca Alvarez , associate reporter

Baggu Large Nylon Crescent Bag

Baggu Large Nylon Crescent Bag

The Baggu Crescent bag isn’t just great for the beach , for me it’s been my go-to bag to take everywhere. As a college student and intern, I’ve been searching for something to carry all my essentials like my laptop , books, notebooks, etc. when traveling on campus or through New York and this Baggu crossbody has been the best. I’ve tried tote bags and backpacks, but nothing can hold as much and feel as comfortable on my shoulders and back like the Baggu. Plus, nothing looks as good, either.

Its size was the biggest draw for me, but an added bonus has been the nylon lining which has resisted spills and kept all my items safe from rain. I also like the wide adjustable strap that doesn’t dig into my shoulder and allows me to easily redistribute my weight when I’m traveling. – Jeffrey Kelly , intern

Travelpro Platinum Elite Carry-On Hardside Spinner

Travelpro Platinum Elite Carry-On Hardside Spinner

When I saw that this hardshell carry-on suitcase also charged electronics, I immediately had to say “yes” when the brand offered to send me a model to try out. I loved how easy it was to set up the charging portion of my suitcase; it recently came in handy when I forgot to bring a power adapter on my trip to France. Aside from its charging feature, I could easily pack a week’s worth of clothes and more if I fully expanded it (which I did after plenty of shopping.) I was surprised at how much it could hold, while also still fitting in the overhead bins. It’s one of the most convenient and durable carry-ons that I have in my current suitcase rotation. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Acupressure Wristband

Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Acupressure Wristband

Motion sickness hits me hard when I’m in the car and on a boat; no matter what I do, I always feel that horrible nauseous feeling a few minutes into any trip. When I went abroad this summer, I went on a wine tour that involved getting in a van and going up and down some steep hills. I had started reporting on a motion sickness story before my trip, and experts I spoke to recommended wristbands that put pressure on a certain point on your wrist. So, I bought some to see if they actually worked — and they definitely did. I was skeptical at first, but after using them several times in both cars and on boats, they actually prevented my motion sickness from setting in. They come with a storage case, so I don’t have to worry about losing them while I’m moving from one place to another. These little bands will definitely be a staple on all my future trips. – Mili Godio, updates editor

Skyview light.

Skyview Light

As a chronic “snooze” button presser, who has no less than four blaring iPhone alarms set each day, I’m always looking for ways I can optimize my sleep routine. I’ll try anything to make waking up a less painful experience. I’m not a morning person by nature, so when this new-to-me brand, Skyview, offered to send me its light to try, I quickly said “yes, please.” It’s marketed as a more effective version of a circadian or sunrise lamp and while I can’t speak to its science, I can say waking up to its light cues was incredibly refreshing. I’ve definitely felt calmer in the morning and aesthetically speaking, I love to look at it.

It changes colors throughout the day — it goes from a twilight to a calming blue to a warm amber to a deep red to signal to your body what it should do (ie: wake up, focus, wind down) throughout the day. I found the deep red before bed to be especially calming. I programmed my desired sleep and awake times in its app, which alerts the lamp when to turn on/off each day. The app is a bit finicky, in my experience. I had a little trouble adjusting my schedule for what time I’d like to wake up and go to sleep, but overall I’ve had a really positive experience using it. It’s also much sleeker than a lot of other similar lights on the market. — Lindsay Schneider , commerce editor

Bnrendles Silky Cnh Pillow with Ear Hole

Bnrendles Silky Cnh Pillow with Ear Hole

After getting a helix piercing , I was fully prepared to not sleep on my side for months. But the nurse who pierced my ear at Rowan told me about the solution I never knew I needed: a piercing pillow . I bought one immediately. It’s donut-shaped, so I put my ear in the opening, which ensures that nothing presses against my earrings while I’m sleeping. It’s seriously a godsend for side-sleepers with piercings. I use it every night and place it on top of a standard pillow since it’s pretty small. I also travel with it since I now can’t imagine sleeping without it. I wish I knew about it years ago when I started getting cartilage piercings — I would have been so much more comfortable at night, and I think it would have helped my other piercings heal faster. — Zoe Malin , associate updates editor

Hexclad Hexmill Tabletop Salt & Pepper Grinder Set

Hexclad Hexmill Tabletop Salt & Pepper Grinder Set

Hexclad Hexmill Tabletop Salt & Pepper Grinder Set

I was recently introduced to Hexclad appliances and instantly fell in love with all of their sleek kitchen items. I bought this salt and pepper grinder that comes with its own stand so I can move it from my counter to my table or deck easily without making a mess. The best part is watching it in action. The bladeless grinder has 10 different coarseness settings, so I can easily change and tailor it to the needs of what I’m cooking. It doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and is easy to clean. It’s so good that I even got a set for my grandfather as a Father’s Day present. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Vellum street fat marshmallow tallow bar soap.

Vellum Street Fat Marshmallow Tallow Bar Soap

I bought this bar soap a couple of months ago while on a solo trip because I wanted to see what all of the tallow soap hype was about. I like this brand in particular because they’re really transparent about their soap-making process and have a great breakdown about the benefits of tallow on their website. (It works by penetrating your skin barrier to moisturize, heal and protect your skin, according to the brand.) I’ve been using this on my face and can’t believe how soft the low lather feels on my skin and after I rinse it off, that taut, tight feeling bar soap typically leaves behind is barely there. It’s also lasting longer than other options I’ve tried. — Nikki Brown , SEO editor

Ilia In Full Micro-Tip Eyebrow Pencil

Ilia In Full Micro-Tip Eyebrow Pencil

I’m a natural redhead, so my eyebrows are, naturally, very fair. Hence why I’m a big fan of eyebrow pencils to give them some color and definition. This one does the trick — and then some. You can pick your color based on your hair color (Auburn works best for me) and the micro-fine tip lets me make natural-looking strokes along my eyebrow hairs. It’s a very buildable formula that stays on all day. — Kelsey Fredricks , production coordinator

Ilia’s thin eyebrow pencil comes in eight shades to match the natural color of eyebrow hairs.

Wonderskin Wonder Blading Lip Stain

Wonderskin Wonder Blading Lip Stain

Aside from using lip balms and lip masks , I love adding a pop of color to my lips to make them look a little less “dead.” I often find that no matter how much product I use, it fades almost immediately. After seeing this stain on TikTok, I was curious to see if it’s as long-lasting as people say it is. Spoiler alert: it is. It comes out blue on initial application and then once I wiped it off with a wet paper towel or cloth, it left a pink color on my lips that lasted for hours. All I have to do is top it off with gloss or chapstick. If I want a bolder look, I’ll leave it on for a few extra minutes (I usually leave it on for two minutes) or add an additional layer of the lip stain. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Zima Dental Pod

Zima Dental Pod

I’ve religiously worn my retainer for years, and always cleaned it with a toothbrush and toothpaste . But the toothbrush’s bristles can create little scratches in the retainer’s plastic material, which dirt can get inside. Using an ultrasonic cleaner, like this one from Zima, which the brand sent me to try, is a better option, in my experience. The little device uses water and high-frequency waves to scrub grime off my retainer, and it works so well it literally makes the retainer sparkle. It’s about the size of a coffee mug and it’s easy to store when I’m not using it since the power cord detaches. Since using it, I’ve recommended it to everyone I know who wears dental appliances. — Zoe Malin, associate updates editor

Good Time Magnetic Bar Holder

Good Time Magnetic Bar Holder

Good Time Magnetic Bar Holder

Being that I am in a bar soap phase, I immediately said “yes” when Good Time offered to send me this bar holder to try. It’s such a simple but highly effective tool that prevents my soap bars from having the slimy gunk that accumulates when you leave it on a flat surface. It comes with three bar buttons that look like soda caps — I just press them into one side of the bar and then it automatically attaches to the holder. It’s one of those small, affordable luxuries that makes showering more fun. I’ve been trying a couple of Good Time’s soaps too, which smell amazing. The exfoliating bar is a little too harsh for my skin but I love the shave bar and have been using it consistently. — Nikki Brown, SEO editor

Future Society Solar Canopy Bodycare Bundle

Future Society Solar Canopy Bodycare Bundle

I come from a family addicted to perfumes and scented products. Just a small amount of this body wash and lotion keeps my skin smelling like a floral and fruity concoction for a few hours. (The scent initially goes on as strong as perfume, but tones down after the first half hour.) Scented skin care products don’t always work on my sensitive skin, but lately, I’ve been dabbling with applying this bundle on areas not super prone to sensitivity or eczema flare-ups. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Uniqlo Ultra Stretch Airism Shorts

These are the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever put on my body. They’re flowy, stretchy and soft and will be my go-to for lounging and running errands this summer. Since I chafe , I don’t know if I’ll wear them while running or doing hardcore HIIT workouts yet, but they’re a great option for stretching and light workouts like Pilates . — Kelsey Fredricks, production coordinator

Aetrex Sydney Quarter Strap Espadrille Wedge

Aetrex Sydney Quarter Strap Espadrille Wedge

I have wide , large feet (I wear a 9.5 wide or 10 in sneakers), so I always have trouble finding shoes that fit right and are comfortable but still look cute. That’s especially true when it comes to heels or wedges. These Aetrex shoes (which the brand sent to me to try) haven’t bothered my feet at all, even when walking around in the city or on the boardwalk for an extended period of time. They have memory foam and a special orthotic system that’s meant to relieve foot pain, according to the brand. I can feel the cushioning and arch support as I’m walking.

Because of the width of my feet, I’ve gotten used to not being able to wear strappy sandals since my feet will usually stick out in weird places. These wedges come with an adjustable front strap, so I can make them fit around my feet the way they should. – Rosalie Sparaco, senior social media editor

To support her arches and give overall comfort to her feet, Sparaco prefers wearing these wedges over other wedge and heel options.

Rowan CZ 11mm Hypoallergenic Hoops

Rowan CZ 11mm Hypoallergenic Hoops

I am such a fan of hoop earrings and finally bought this pair after eyeing them for months . They’re available in silver and gold and have crystal studs along the front for a simple yet elegant accent. They’re also hypoallergenic, according to the brand, so I’m able to wear them 24/7 without irritating my sensitive skin . — Kelsey Fredricks, production coordinator

Our favorite fitness + leisure finds, “100 boyfriends” by brontez purnell.

"100 Boyfriends" by Brontez Purnell

"100 Boyfriends" by Brontez Purnell

Nothing has made riding the subway more enjoyable than this book. While usually I stick to poetry collections, I couldn’t put down “100 Boyfriends,” which is a collection of short stories that focuses on the fictional relationships of various queer men. Brontez Purnell’s deadpan wit was refreshing and added texture to the most harrowing and heart wrenching moments in the book. The book featured well rounded and flawed characters that, no matter how I felt about them, I never wanted to stop reading. — Jeffrey Kelly, intern

Head Ti. Conquest Pre-Strung 27in. Blue Tennis Racquet

Head Ti. Conquest Pre-Strung 27in. Blue Tennis Racquet

I became obsessed with tennis after watching “Break Point” (a Netflix docuseries) on a recent flight to Japan. I played tennis years ago, I admittedly wasn’t very good but I decided to give it another try. A few weeks ago, I started practicing on a wall about three times a week with friends. However, after a few days of playing, I knew I needed a better racquet. My shots were out of control; simple forearm shots lacked control and my backhand was abysmal. I bought my first racquet about three years ago on a whim but this time I was searching for a proper beginner option, which led me to the Head Ti Conquest. This racquet gives me much better control compared to my old one, it has a larger sweet spot and it has better balance so I can get a sense of rhythm while practicing and working on different shots. — Jordan Bowman , editor

Our favorite pet finds, badlands ranch superfood bites.

Badlands Ranch Superfood Bites

One thing my 8-year-old pit bull loves to do is spend her days running and sunbathing in my backyard. With the warm weather fully in swing, it’s been hard to bring her back inside. With the right treats, however, she comes running to the door. My dog’s a picky eater with a sensitive stomach, so I’m usually nervous to introduce new dog food or treats to her. Since these only have one ingredient: freeze-dried wild salmon, I took the risk — and luckily it paid off. She’s been loving them, listening more and I haven’t noticed any stomach problems since introducing them into her routine. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Tick Mitt Tick Remover for People and Pets

Tick Mitt Tick Remover for People and Pets

I rescued my puppy back in October, and keeping him happy and healthy has been top of mind ever since. Together, we love exploring the outdoors and have spent countless hours at the park and on long walks. However, growing up with Lyme Disease in my family and the stress of keeping us both safe from tick-borne illness affects how freely we can enjoy our time outside.

In trying to find nontoxic ways to protect him from ticks, I discovered Tick Mitt, a convenient and painless way to remove ticks from us both. Tick Mitt’s a Velcro-like fabric mitt you can swipe on clothes, skin or fur to remove ticks. Once I’ve wiped us both down, I throw the mitt into the included bag and toss it into the dryer, which kills ticks effectively and safely, according to the brand.

The mitt comes in four colors — I personally opted for the pink and can’t recommend it enough. It’s given me immeasurable peace of mind when taking daily walks with my dog. — Emma Satin, NBC Page

Paul Mitchell Pet Soothing Oatmeal Conditioning Spray

Paul Mitchell Pet Soothing Oatmeal Conditioning Spray

I mainly rely on shampoo and conditioner to leave my pit bull’s coat nice and soft because being a short-haired dog, it can sometimes feel dry and brittle. She also has a white, gray brindle that can look dull, too. After being sent this spray from Paul Mitchell and using it twice a week, my dog’s hair feels less dry and looks shinier. It functions like a leave-in conditioner ; all I do is spray it all over once my dog’s hair once it’s dry post-shower. It’s helped her sensitive skin stay soft — I could now spend hours petting her. — Bianca Alvarez, associate reporter

Catenary Bloom Cat Scratcher

Catenary Bloom Cat Scratcher

My biggest complaint about cat toys , scratchers and trees has always been how ugly they are. Catenary’s cat scratchers, however, are an exception. Their organic shape, neutral color palette and squiggly pattern make them look like a piece of home decor or art, so they blend into my apartment instead of sticking out. The cardboard scratchers lay flat on the ground, and my cats love digging their nails into them, sitting on top of them and rolling all over them while playing. The brand sent me a set of three to try, so I put one in my bedroom, one in my living room and one in my entryway. Catenary also sent me its Elevated Halo bowl, which is by far the nicest food and water bowl my cats have ever used. — Zoe Malin, associate updates editor

Nikon Zf Mirrorless Camera with 40mm Lens

Nikon Zf Mirrorless Camera with 40mm Lens

I wouldn’t call myself a photographer — I am too new to the hobby, and still have a ways to go with many of the artistic elements. One thing that continues to confuse me on many modern cameras are all the unlabeled buttons and command wheels, which is why I wanted to try out this camera from Nikon. It has a vintage-inspired design reminiscent of film cameras, with labeled dials for things like ISO and shutter speed.

I’ve been using it for the past two months after the brand loaned one for me to try. Using it has been some of the most fun I’ve had with a camera all year. It takes detailed shots, has an incredibly accurate autofocus system and makes a satisfying noise with every shot. The buttons and dials have made me much more comfortable using manual mode, something I’ve been intimidated by using other cameras. — Harry Rabinowitz, reporter

Windex Electronic Wipes

I used to think that cleaning my electronics and tech gear wasn’t super important, until I noticed how much of a difference it makes. While it’s subtle, the effect these electronic wipes give to my laptop, phone, desktop and other screens is so rewarding. I don’t have to look at smudges, fingerprints and debris on my phone screen , which can be distracting, not to mention unsightly. Netgear WiFi 6 Range Extender (EAX12)

Netgear WiFi 6 Range Extender (EAX12)

I live in New York City. Naturally, my apartment is not very large. Despite that fact, my Wi-Fi does not really reach into my bedroom — it’s spotty at best, nonexistent at worst. After trying and failing to connect a smart home device in my bedroom, I decided to cave and finally buy a range extender.

I chose this one because my main Wi-Fi router is from Netgear; I wanted a mesh system that plugs flush into a wall outlet — no big box or antennas. After about a 15-minute setup, it connected, and I now have decently fast Wi-Fi in every part of my bedroom. Problem solved. — Harry Rabinowitz, reporter

How Princess Diana Styled the Pant Trend That's Come Roaring Back Into Style

Princess Diana looks over her shoulder smiling

As my fellow millennials will relate to, I practically lived in capri pants in middle school in the 90s and early 2000s. Sometimes called pedal pushers or clam diggers, capris have ebbed and flowed in popularity over the years, beginning in the 50s when Audrey Hepburn made them her signature. Back in the 80s, no one looked chicer in capri pants than Princess Diana .

Photographed at a polo match in May 1983, Princess Diana styled the trend with a billowy white blouse and a red sweater tied nonchalantly over her shoulders. She completed the look with low-heeled red pumps. As we've extensively reported, capri pants are officially back and bigger than ever in 2024. They were featured heavily in the S/S 24 runway collections , including at Tory Burch, Mirror Palais, and Theory, to name a few. Ready to get in on the action? Scroll down to shop my favorite pairs.

I'm a Travel Writer in Miami, and Everyone's Wearing These 15 Comfy, Resort-ready Summer Styles — From $7

These breezy and stylish picks deserve a spot in your suitcase.

Travel + Leisure / Madison Woiten

Summer is in absolute full swing in Miami — and as a native, I love this time of year. It gets a little quieter (albeit way hotter), but everyone immediately whips out their best go-with-the-flow clothes , shoes, and fun summer-inspired accessories. Knowing very well that you’ll sweat through anything and everything within a few minutes of stepping outside, Miami summer clothes styles are all about breezy, quick-drying materials and lots of bold colors.

I find myself wearing plenty of wide-leg pants and flowy dresses (honestly, that’s me all year long), and if I’m running errands, there’s nothing easier than a comfortable athleisure set paired with an oversized button-down shirt to spruce it up. From retro sunglasses and phone accessories to cute but functional statement bags, the trends Miami locals are following put vibrant, tropical patterns at the forefront while helping them fashionably beat the heat. Here are the 15 styles that everyone’s rocking this summer, and they're all available at Amazon starting at $7.

Trend: Flowy dresses

Grace karin square neck floral maxi dress.

Ask anyone in my close circle what my go-to “uniform” is and they will say “a sundress and sneakers” — and they would be absolutely right. I love how easy it is to throw on a flowy (and most likely floral-patterned) dress and walk out the door. Fortunately, the Miami girls are all on board this summer, because I've been seeing so many fun, breezy dresses all over town. Right now, I’ve got my eye on this floral one from Grace Karin that comes in a ton of different brightly colored patterns. Not only is it great for running errands or meeting up with friends, but it can easily be packed and worn on my upcoming trips.

Trend: Athleisure sets

Nova active workout set.

Speaking of easy-to-throw-on-and-go, athleisure sets are also a major Miami vibe when it comes to looking chic and getting out of the house. Yes, the people of The 305 love a workout class and keeping active, but this summer, I promise, you’ll see them sporting just as many activewear sets while running errands and hanging out around town as you would at any Barry’s Bootcamp class. Some of my favorite, super affordable matching sets come from Amazon — like this criss-cross sports bra and shorts duo from Horisun (that’s just $20) or the Nova Active set that’s available in quite a few colorways.

Trend: Linen button-down shirts

Zoye chen long-sleeve button-down.

There’s something magical about how quickly a linen button-down shirt can quickly pull together an outfit. Often, I've seen it over the aforementioned athleisure set to create a chic look that’s perfect for running errands or taking a walk down South Beach’s Lincoln Road. I love my pink and white boyfriend-fit linen button-down from Old Navy , but I recently realized I don’t have a plain white one — so I’m thinking it’s time to grab this one from Zoye Chen at Amazon, which is on sale for $23. Beyond its wardrobe-enhancing abilities, a quality button-down shirt also comes in handy as a bathing suit cover-up when lounging at my favorite hotel pools and the beach.

Trend: Platform sandals

Reef water vista higher platform slingback sandals.

A little extra height and a lot of comfort? Yes, please! That's why platform sandals are all the rage in Miami this summer. My collection of platform sandals has been steadily growing over the last few months, making me more than ready to jump on the trend. The other day, I spotted a friend in the Reef Water Vista Higher Sandals and now I think I have to have them. EVA foam footbeds give the shoes a cloud-like cushioning that keeps your feet comfy for miles, and their waterproof construction makes them perfect to wear from the beach to lunch.

Trend: Colorful two-piece sets

Makemechic tropical short-sleeve and shorts two-piece set.

You may have noticed a theme with easy sets, but in heat like this, the less thought you have to put into the outfit the better (and the same goes for getting dressed while traveling, right?), and that’s why we love sets. Add in a bright color or fun print and you'll look like you came straight out of Miami. Currently, I’ve got my eye on this MakeMeChic Two-piece Set at Amazon that comes in a ton of summer-ready colors and patterns. It'll make a great casual outfit and swim cover-up if needed.

Trend: Wide-legged pants

Funyyzo wide-leg pants.

When we’re aiming for a dressier look here in Miami, we’re still riding that breezy fabric train, but often opt for a pair of wide-legged pants with a bit more structure. The Curve Love A&F Sloane Tailored Linen-blend Pants are unbeatable as they come in several colors and are very curvy girl-friendly. Over at Amazon, these palazzo-style, business casual pants feature elegant front pleating to make them super stylish. If you’re a fan of bold patterns, these Btfbm High-waisted Floral Pants are so cute and come in over a dozen prints.

Trend: Basic crop tops

Cuts clothing almost friday cropped t-shirt.

Simple and basic, crop tops are well-loved here in Miami. Not only do they show off our tans, but they are perfect for pairing with the above wide-legged pants and platform sandals for a simple, well-put-together look. I’m partial to Cuts Clothing crop tops (and really all of the brand's basic T-shirt styles) as they are hands down the best ones I own. I live in them when I travel and they never stretch out or lose their shape. I think I have at least 10 of them in all sorts of colors and styles at this point, but the Almost Friday style is my absolute favorite.

Trend: Small statement bags

Zlmbagus flap tote top convertible handle clutch.

Is there ever a time when small statement bags aren’t in style? I think they are definitely having a moment this summer. Recently on a trip to Lake Como, I was shopping in Bellagio with a fellow Travel + Leisure writer and scored the cutest hot pink leather and straw bag (which you’ll see me using all season). Though I don’t remember exactly where I got it,  I found a similar version at Amazon from Bagkeak. If you're shopping for a new travel bag, I recommend opting for something like the Zlmbagus Convertible Clutch, which has a delicate gold chain strap so you can wear it on your shoulder or crossbody-style if needed. Similarly, the Freie Liebe Straw Clutch also makes a quality travel purse with its convertible design, and its rattan exterior basically screams summer.

Trend: White Sneakers with pops of color

Gola women's tennis-mark cox sneakers.

While Miami isn’t a big walking city, somehow I find myself doing a ton of walking, so just like in my travels, I make sure to always have a pair of comfortable but chic sneakers at all times. But, since it's Miami, there has to be a little pop of color to make them stand out. As expected, I’m seeing a ton of Veja sneakers and Adidas Sambas (especially the Messi ones ) being worn all over the city, but for those looking for something just as stylish but a little different, I'm happy to report that I  just got my first pair of Gola tennis sneakers and I can’t get over how comfortable they are. I’m also a big fan of Kizik sneakers when I’m going for a hands-free, easy-to-slip-on shoe and I love the canvas Irvine style .

Trend: Dressy basic totes

Montana west nylon tote .

When you’ve got too much stuff to fit into a small statement bag, enter: the tote bag. This season, Miamians are loving a classic tote that’s dressed up a bit. This Lands’ End canvas tote is perfect for carting around a beach towel, sunscreen, and bathing suit in style, and I’m really into this straw tote bag from Emgill that has a magnetic closure and leather lining. Then, there’s always the beloved Marc Jacobs tote that’s currently on sale or the Montana West Nylon Tote that doubles as a personal item for flights.

Trend: Solid bathing suits

Eomenie one-piece swimsuit.

This summer, I’ve noticed fewer prints on the Miami beaches. Instead, it’s all about the simple solid, slightly color-blocked looks. I’ve been rocking this bikini from Old Navy since the spring and I love how flattering, supportive ( especially the top ), and size-inclusive it is. But as a true Miami girl, my bathing suit collection is expansive and I’m always on the hunt for new ones to add to my repertoire. Does anyone else feel like they deserve a new bathing suit every time they go on a beach vacation? Treat yourself to this one-piece from Eomenie that's super flattering on everyone and an Amazon best-seller .

Trend: Low strappy heels

Dream pairs low kitty strappy heels.

Keeping our feet both cute and comfortable, low strappy heels are where it’s at. Whether walking from bar to bar on South Beach or standing around at a cocktail party or a wedding, these shoes show off our fresh pedicures and keep us from feeling fatigued. So far this summer, I can’t stop wearing these Andre Assous Neveah Metallic Wedges in taupe (which features a shiny gold strap that looks so good with so many outfits), and these Clarks Serina Mule sandals have also been great to me lately with their super cushy soles. I have a few friends who swear by Dream Pairs' Low Kitty Strappy Heels that come in several colors and are currently at their lowest price in the last 30 days.

Trend: Thin sunglasses

Kuguaok retro rectangle sunglasses.

Big, oversized sunglasses are out and thin, rectangular lenses are in. A forever cat-eye sunglasses girl, I’ve recently transitioned into a whole new shape as I aim to stay on top of trends here in the Magic City. This super affordable set from Amazon brand Kuguaok comes with two pairs of stylish retro-shaped glasses for just $7 and has tons of mix-and-match options. Ray-Ban also has a version that’s currently 35 percent off, and of course, there are the tortoise shell ones from Prada — that are on sale for $260 thanks to a 38 percent discount — if you’re really looking to treat yourself.

Trend: Gold hoop earrings

Besteel 14k gold-filled hoop earrings set.

I’m all about well-curated ear candy. I have six piercings on each ear, and while I keep 10 of them in at all times (to be honest, I don’t know how to take a lot of my earrings out and I leave that to the professionals), I do love switching it up when it comes to my first (and most basic) lobe piercing. This season, it’s all about gold hoops in various sizes. A clean simple look that works with every outfit, the perfect gold hoops can most certainly be found at Amazon. Personally, I like a little sparkle, so I’ve got my eye on this BeSteel set that has a plain pair and a rhinestone-laced one as well.

Trend: Phone accessories

Miami chains & co. beaded phone wristlet strap.

This is definitely one of my favorite and most underrated trends that I’m seeing all over Miami right now: phone accessories. Do you remember when we all had phone charms back in the early 2000s? I had more than I could count, and now they are back. I’m currently obsessed with a local brand called Miami Chain Co. and have several of its wristlet straps and crossbody chains. They are just so fun and functional, especially since I always have my phone in my hand as I document my travels and adventures on Instagram. This keeps my phone close (remember that time I was pickpocketed abroad ?) at all times, and lets a bit more of my personality shine.
