Mirzapur Tourism

Mirzapur is one of the districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The Mirzapur town is the district headquarters. The meaning of Mirzapur is place of kings. It has prominent carpet and brassware industries. In the early years the place was almost covered with dense forest. During the British rule, the administrators cleared the place to establish a township and make it a centre of trade between central and western India. The place has both spiritual and natural beauty which makes it a well-known tourist destination. Mirzapur is famous for the Vindhyachal Dham. It is one the 52nd Shakti Peethas in India, dedicated to Goddess Vindhyavasini. Many legends can be heard about the establishment of the temple. Thousands of devotees visit every year to seek blessings of the Goddess. Other religious places at Mirzapur are Asthbhuja, Kali Khoh and Devrahwa Baba Ashram.

The Mirzapur city is surrounded by hills. The district has many waterfalls and natural spots to visit. There are several ghats where beautiful historical sculptures are found. The story comes in the Dasam Skand of Shrimdev Bhagavat, when Brahma ji first creates Swayambhavvammanu and Shatruupa with his mind. Then after marriage, Swayambhav Manu made a statue of Goddess with his hands and performed harsh tenacity for a hundred years. Satisfied with his austerity, Bhagwati blessed him with a state of deserving state, family growth and the highest post. Mahadevi went to Vindhyachalvarvata after giving his blessing. From this it is clear that from the beginning of creation, the worship of Vindhyaswini is being done. His expansion of the universe came from his own good wishes.
