Most anticipated concert tours of fall 2023: taylor swift, beyoncé, drake and more.

The Jonas Brothers, Pink and Morgan Wallen were also among the artists who returned to the road for highly anticipated tours this year.

Dozens of artists hit the road during 2023 to bring their music to sold-out venues across the globe.

The first half of the year started off strong with artists and bands like Harry Styles, Journey, Carrie Underwood, SZA, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Reba McEntire, Janet Jackson, Lizzo, Blink-182, Charlie Puth, Billy Idol, Wiz Khalifa, Bebe Rexha and Black Pink heading out on their headlining tours.

Some artists had such sought-after tickets for their tours, including Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, that it led to sites, such as Ticketmaster, completely crashing when tickets dropped.

Many summer nights were also filled with good tunes this year as artists including Alicia Keys, Post Malone, Paramore, Chris Stapleton, Boygenius, Lionel Richie, Melissa Etheridge and Maggie Rogers set out on tours during the warmer months.

Concert tours are not only an opportunity for artists to promote their latest albums or to highlight their entire music catalogs, but it’s also a chance for their fans to come together to celebrate the music and musicians that they look up to and love. Those attending shows for artists such as Swift, Beyoncé and Styles often dress to impress, going all out for their outfits. Beyoncé even asked her fans to specifically come to her Virgo season concerts for her Renaissance World Tour decked out in silver and chrome, to celebrate her astrological sign. Swifties, inspired by the lyric “Make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it …” from her song “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” made themed bracelets to trade and hand out to other fans at each of the stops on her Eras Tour.

The performers often praise their fans for all their love and support, like Swift writing on social media in July after her stops in Seattle, Washington, “Thank you for everything. All the cheering, screaming, jumping, dancing, singing at the top of your lungs.”

But if you missed the opportunity to see your favorite artists earlier this year, don’t worry, because The Hollywood Reporter has compiled a list of some of the most anticipated concert tours happening this fall, below.

Taylor Swift

Tour: Eras Tour (March 2023 – November 2024)

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the singer’s sixth headlining tour, is described as a journey through all of her musical eras, including  Fearless ,  Lover ,  Evermore ,  1989 ,  Speak Now ,  Reputation  and more. She is set to perform 146 shows across five continents, with each performance featuring a staggering 44-song setlist spanning more than three hours. Swift finished the first U.S. leg at the beginning of August and will return to the U.S. for the second leg in October 2024.

Tour:  Renaissance World Tour (May – October 2023)

Beyoncé’s ninth concert tour, which is three hours long with no opener, is in support of her seventh studio album, Renaissance . She is set to perform 56 shows across Europe and North America.

Drake and 21 Savage

Tour: It’s All a Blur Tour (July – October 2023)

Rappers Drake and 21 Savage are co-headlining their It’s All a Blur Tour to promote their collaborative album, Her Loss . The tour will consist of 56 shows across North America.

Jonas Brothers

Tour: The Tour (August 2023 – June 2024)

The Jonas Brothers, comprised of Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas, have headed out on their 12th concert tour, which will span three continents. The Tour will feature songs from five different albums, including The Album , Happiness Begins and A Little Bit Longer .

Tour: +–=÷× (Mathematics) Tour (April 2022 – November 2023)

Ed Sheeran’s fourth concert tour draws from all of his albums since 2011, including Plus (2011), Multiply (2014), Divide (2017), Equals (2021) and Subtract (2023). The two-hour concert will consist of 88 shows across three continents.

Anita Baker

Tour: The Songstress Tour (February – December 2023)

Anita Baker will perform in 15 cities across the U.S. for her latest tour, which celebrates her 40 years as a music icon since the release of her debut album,  The Songstress, in 1983.

Guns N' Roses

Tour: World Tour 2023 (June – October 2023)

Guns N’ Roses, comprised of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler, has set out on their latest tour, which spans three continents.

Tour: Mañana Será Bonito Tour (August – September 2023)

Karol G kicked off her first-ever stadium tour in Las Vegas and will make her way across the U.S. for stops in six cities.

Tour: The Long Goodbye (September – November 2023)

The Eagles have embarked on their finale tour, with special guest Steely Dan, after more than 50 years of touring and over a thousand concerts.

Tour: Still… at Their Very Best (September – December 2023)

The 1975’s fifth concert tour, in support of the band’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language album, is making stops across North America and Europe.

Tour: The Scarlet Tour (October – December 2023)

Doja Cat will kick off her first North American arena tour in San Francisco, California this fall. Special guests Ice Spice and Doechii   will join during select dates. The singer has only toured once before as a headliner for her Amala Tour in 2019.

Stevie Nicks

Tour: 2023 Tour (May – December 2023)

Apart from the Two Icons, One Night Tour that Nicks is co-headlining with Billy Joel through the year, the singer-songwriter also added in dates for her solo tour across the U.S. Nicks has previously toured with Fleetwood Mac as well as embarked on more than a dozen solo tours throughout her career.

Tour: Celebration Tour (October 2023 – April 2024)

Madonna, who initially had to postpone the July start of her Celebration Tour as she recovered from a bacterial infection, is now set to kick off her tour in London on Oct. 14. She will make her way across Europe before returning to the U.S. on Dec. 13 to embark on her North American leg.

Tour: The Chicks World Tour 2023 (June – October 2023)

The Chicks’ sixth headlining concert tour initially began its first leg in 2022, but the country music trio returned in 2023 for their second leg. The group is touring across North America and Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Tour: Summer Carnival 2023 Tour (June – October 2023)

Pink kicked off her eighth concert tour at the beginning of summer and will run through the beginning of fall. But soon after, the singer will head out on her ninth tour, in support of her album Trustfall , starting in Sacramento, California, on Oct. 12.

Janelle Monáe

Tour: The Age of Pleasure Tour (August – October 2023)

Janelle Monáe’s latest tour supports her album The Age of Pleasure Tour . The singer is making stops in 26 cities across North America.

Tour: Don Juan World Tour (August – November 2023)

Maluma has set out on the North American leg of his Don Juan World Tour, which supports his newly released album of the same name. The Latin music artist will make his way across 30 cities before ending in Miami, Florida.

Morgan Wallen

Tour: One Night at a Time World Tour  (March – October 2023)

Country music star Morgan Wallen is performing across two continents for his latest tour in support of his third studio album of the same name. Special guests include HARDY, Parker McCollum, ERNEST and Bailey Zimmerman.

Shania Twain

Tour: Queen of Me Tour (April – November 2023)

Shania Twain’s fifth headlining concert tour spans two continents and 77 shows in total. The tour, which marks the singer’s first tour in nearly five years, is in support of her sixth studio album,  Queen of Me .

Tour: M72 World Tour (April 2023 – September 2024)

Metallica’s latest tour in support of the band’s 11th studio album,  72 Seasons, will consist of 49 shows across two continents. Throughout the tour, the heavy metal band will play two nights in every city it visits with two completely different setlists and opening acts for each No Repeat Weekend.

Foo Fighters

Tour: 2023 Tour (May 2023 – June 2024)

Foo Fighters have embarked on their first headlining tour since drummer Taylor Hawkins died. The tour, which includes performances in five continents, is in support of their new album  But Here We Are .

Tour: The Only Love Tour , formerly The Gag Order Tour (October – November 2023)

Kesha is set to head out on a 20-city North American tour in support of her album  Gag Order . The singer’s sixth headlining tour will also include special guest Jake Wesley Rogers.

Tour: Solo Acoustic Fall Tour (October – November 2023)

John Mayer extended his latest tour across the United States into the fall with special guest JP Saxe.

Tour: The Field Trip Tour (September – December 2023)

Lil Yachty is currently on his 39-stop global tour across North America and Europe in support of his album  Let’s Start Here .

Bruce Springsteen

Tour: 2023 Tour (February – December 2023)

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have made stops across North America and Europe since February for their latest tour. But they had to postpone their September dates as Springsteen undergoes treatment for peptic ulcer disease. At this point, the tour is set to resume on Nov. 3 in Vancouver.

Tour: Music of the Spheres World Tour (March 2022 – September 2024)

Coldplay is performing across five continents for its eighth headlining tour in support of the band’s ninth studio album,  Music of the Spheres . They will perform 165 shows in total by the end.

Tour: 2023 World Tour  (March – October 2023)

Luke Combs has been making his way across three continents performing songs from his latest two albums, Gettin’ Old  and  Growin’ Up .

Tour: The Final Lap Tour (July – December 2023)

50 Cent’s latest concert tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of his album  Get Rich or Die Tryin , which came out in February 2003. The rapper’s tour consists of 69 shows across four continents.

Tour: Unreal Unearth Tour  (September – December 2023)

Hozier has hit the road for his latest tour, which spans across North America and Europe, in support of his EP Eat Your Young and new album Unreal Unearth .

Tour: The Musical Legacy Tour (June – November 2023)

Diana Ross extended her latest tour, which showcases her iconic hits throughout her career, into the fall. The legendary singer is performing across two continents, North America and Europe.

The Two Icons, One Night tour is a rare double bill of two legendary touring acts, Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel. The limited concert series will open March 10 at Los Angeles ’ SoFi Stadium, followed by one-nighters in Arlington, Texas ; Nashville ; Columbus; and a final evening in Kansas City , on August 19. Both musicians have continuously toured throughout the decades, with Nicks most recently wrapping up a sold-out tour in summer 2022, and Joel touring the world in addition to his record-breaking residency at New York City ’s Madison Square Garden .

P!NK concerts offer a thrilling blend of her power vocals and cutting-edge stagecraft as the star can often be seen dangling upside over the crowd or crooning effortlessly from a trapeze swing. The Dead & Co. ensemble – currently led by original Grateful Dead members Bobby Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, joined by Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and John Mayer – has continued the long legacy of the Grateful Dead by touring for each of the past eight summers. This summer, their final tour will serve as a bittersweet farewell as the band hangs up their guitars and tie-dye after having played more than 2300 concerts as the Grateful Dead. Expect Deadhead groupies from all around the world to descend for many nights of peace, love and happiness.

Marc Anthony: VIVIENDO Tour

Don’t expect to be sitting down for most of Marc Anthony’s wildly energetic VIVIENDO Tour, set to tour the US in 2023. Chart-topping hits fill the set list, including “Pa’lla Voy,” “Vivir Mi Vida” and “Valió la Pena.”

Beyoncé: Renaissance Tour 

While details have yet to be fully released, Beyoncé will be celebrating her new album Renaissance with a live tour. The Phantom of the Opera : final months on Broadway

Ed Sheeran is bringing his “Mathematics” tour to North American shores next year. The singer announced dates for his first stateside swing in almost five years on Monday (Oct. 3), revealing a string of stadium shows slated to kick off on May 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.

Main support on the tour will be provided by Khalid (May 6-Sept. 2), as well as Russ (Sept. 9-23), as well as sets from Dylan, Cat Burns, Maisie Peters and Rosa Linn.

The “Mathematics” tour will come to North America for the first time since Sheeran’s 2018 “Divide Tour” became the most-attended and highest-grossing tour of all time. According to a release announcing the North American dates, the recently wrapped UK/European leg of the “Mathematics” tour found Sheeran performing for more than three million people in six months.

Registration for Ticketmaster’s #VerifiedFan sale opened Monday morning at 10 a.m. ET and will end on Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. ET; click here to register. The Verified Fan presale begins on Weds. (Oct. 12) at 10 a.m. and runs through Oct. 13 at 10 p.m. (times are local). The general public on-sale kicks off on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. (local time).

Sheeran will promote the tour announce by dropping by The Late Show on Oct. 13 and Good Morning America on Oct. 14.

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

The tour began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and extends through Aug. 9, where the singer will wrap with a fifth night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift still has stops left in Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Santa Clara.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

The stadium tour was accompanied by a concert film released on New Year’s Eve that year.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

I received a confirmation email, what does that mean?

This email is to confirm your details and that we successfully received your registration. It doesn’t, however, guarantee you’ll receive an invitation to purchase tickets. On Monday, November 14, you’ll receive an email with additional information about your invitation status.

Does getting an access code mean I will get tickets?

No. Only fans who have been verified and invited to shop by receiving an access code will have the opportunity to purchase tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan.

Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to shop for tickets. However, the ability to purchase tickets is determined by supply and demand, and is not guaranteed. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.

If selected, fans will also receive a text message to the phone number provided during registration. This text will include a unique access code and a link to shop. Keep an eye out for this text and be careful not to accidentally delete it.

The Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the sale begins. You may only join the Waiting Room using the same Ticketmaster Account that you registered with.

When the sale begins, fans in the Waiting Room will be assigned a spot in line. When it is your turn to shop, you must enter your access code exactly as it appears in your text to access tickets.

Can I share my access code with my friends or family?

Ed Sheeran Announces 2023 'Mathematics' North American Stadium Tour — See the Full List of Dates!

The four-time Grammy winner's first stateside tour in almost five years will see him perform in 21 cities next year alongside opening acts Khalid, Russ, Dylan, Cat Burns, Maisie Peters and Rosa Linn

Ed Sheeran is getting ready for his first stateside tour in nearly five years!

On Monday, the four-time Grammy winner announced dates for the North American leg of his ongoing + - = ÷ x (pronounced "Mathematics") Tour, which will span stadium venues across the United States and Canada from May to September 2023.

Kicking off at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on May 6, the North American leg of the + - = ÷ x Tour will make stops in cities including Atlanta, Philadelphia, Toronto, Nashville, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas and Los Angeles before concluding on Sept. 23 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Opening for Sheeran, 31, on select dates throughout the North American run of shows are musicians including Khalid , Russ, Dylan, Cat Burns, Maisie Peters and Rosa Linn.

Khalid, 24, will perform in 18 cities from opening night in Arlington, Texas, to Sept. 2 in Vancouver, while Russ, 30, will replace him in the final three cities: Las Vegas as well as California's Santa Clara and Inglewood.

Dylan, 22, is set to appear at six North American dates from opening night through June 10 in New Jersey. Then, 22-year-old Linn will join Sheeran from June 17 in Toronto through July 15 in Detroit.

Burns 22, will take the stage ahead of the "2step" musician from the July 22 show in Nashville through Aug. 19 in Denver. Finally, 22-year-old Peters will perform in the final four cities from Aug. 26 in Seattle through Sept. 23 in Inglewood.

Tickets for the newly announced dates will be available for presale through Ticketmaster's #VerifiedFan system , for which registration opened at 10 a.m. EST on Monday and closes on Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. EST. The Verified Fan Presale begins Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. local time and ends the following day at 10 p.m. local time.

American Express Card Members can also access presale tickets from Oct. 12 at noon local time through Oct. 13 at 10 p.m. local time. Then, general tickets become available to all fans on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. local time.

Sheeran recently wrapped the tour's European leg, which will be followed by a string of concerts in New Zealand and Australia in early 2023 before the North American leg begins.

Yes, many members of the Pitchfork staff attended the Eras Tour and the Renaissance Tour and had incredible, even life-changing, experiences there. But we covered those world-conquering phenomena extensively enough already this year. So for our final staff list of 2023, we thought we’d turn our attention to some other favorite concerts. Here, you’ll find everything from Sweeping Promises in a tiny venue in Minneapolis to SZA at Madison Square Garden, Water From Your Eyes on a boat to Floating Points and Shabaka Hutchings at the Hollywood Bowl. Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul

“Let’s just ignore the rain! It’s just water, fuck it!” With the sun setting in Chicago, the precipitation sparkled like icicles each time the lights strobed out through Union Park. But Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul, and the crowd watching them at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival merely shrugged off getting rained on. We were all too tuned into every lyric, scream, and laugh to care. Equipped with two microphones, a couple of synthesizers, a bass, and some percussion, the Belgian duo performed a set composed of tracks from their breakout album Topical Dancer , including a particularly wild version of “It Hit Me” and a polished, funky “Ceci n’est pas un cliché.” I lost my shit on the final drop of “Mantra,” and all too poetically removed my makeshift poncho, taking the bridge’s words to heart: “What’s left is a clean slate so what’s next/Thank yourself, praise your body/celebrate and dance.” –Jaeden Pinder

Feist started her Multitudes show with a reassuring smile as she filmed the audience while walking among them; she ended it with her eyes closed, caught in a reverie, her silhouette repeated to dreamy infinity on a curtain behind her. In between, she reminded us why she remains one of the most arresting performers of the 2000s indie boom. It was part solo high-wire act, as she stood alone on a stage in the middle of the crowd, mixing her bittersweet acoustic songs with charming banter that made you feel like you were catching up with an old friend. It was part clattering rock show, as she led a full band and the audience through communal catharsis. It was part DIY multimedia experiment, adorned with abstract visuals that were created in-the-moment. There was some sleight-of-hand in the form of a mysterious journal filled with casually profound poetry. There were yelps for songs that soundtracked past lives. There were tears at this Mother’s Day show, too, when Feist talked about her young daughter and the ever-upward branches of family. The whole thing allowed onlookers to live in a limbo between raw emotion and premeditated performance for a couple of hours, a magical suspension of belief. –Ryan Dombal

Floating Points, Shabaka Hutchings, and Friends

A confluence of jazz heads, electronic heads, jam band heads, philharmonic heads, and crickets descended upon the Hollywood Bowl this September for a performance of Promises , the 2021 cosmic jazz concerto by Floating Points and the late Pharoah Sanders. Some called the event an hour-long prayer, or a communion with a higher power, and all I have to say is yeah that makes sense . On Instagram, Sam Shepherd (aka Floating Points) said that they probably wouldn’t do this show again, and that there would never be an official recording of it. Does that make this performance more special? I can’t lie and say that I wasn’t thinking about the one-night-only angle as I sat in my seat and watched Miguel Atwood-Ferguson conduct the final sounds Sanders put on record before he met his creator the following year. Shabaka Hutchings, in what he said was his final performance as a saxophonist, channeled the spirit of Pharoah without attempting to replicate the unreplicable. On stage alongside Shepherd pawing at various vintage keyboards, analog synths, and tape echo machines were Dan Snaith (aka Caribou), Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet), Kara-Lis Coverdale, Hinako Omori, and more, offering a final eulogy to the saxophone colossus. I held my breath for long portions of the performance. I didn’t hear a single word the entire show—a nearly sold-out Bowl, around 15,000 people, let all the silence in Promises hang over the amphitheater in the September breeze. In that silence all you could hear were the crickets, and all you could feel was Pharoah. –Jeremy D. Larson

Lana Del Rey

In support of her self-mythologizing album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd , Lana Del Rey went on a tour eschewing the coastal cities she’s often sung about for less ogled-over corners of America. That included Charlotte, where I took five types of transportation from New York City to stand under a full moon in a sea of fans with ribbons in their hair, gathered to see Elizabeth Grant perform. When she did, floating in a collared white gown on a stage set that felt part dusky jazz lounge and part Puccini opera, she rode on a series of swells: of her backup singers’ crashing outros, of her dancers’ circling movements, of the crowd wailing along to the Born to Die classics. A hush held for every crisp, stuttered “t” of “Bartender”—which Lana sang seated solo at a vanity mirror—as well as during that manifesto of wayward spirits, the opening “Ride” speech. The whole show felt choreographed to overwhelm even its star, and when Lana left the stage for the final time, she was carried off, swaddled in a white sheet. In the Uber after, I regretted not hanging around the venue parking lot, smoking and gazing at the highway. When the root of the urge dawned on me, it made me laugh: it was so Lana-coded. –Hattie Lindert

Rauw Alejandro

Rauw Alejandro’s 2022 LP Saturno was a high-concept tour de force built on galactic aesthetics, touches of Miami bass, and addictive ’90s freestyle samples. I had high expectations for the show, which I hoped would match the album’s retrofuturist visual world. At the Brooklyn stop in March, Alejandro didn’t disappoint, pulling out all the production flourishes. El Zorro has always been an athletic dancer, but this time the choreography was even more intricate (tellingly, the moves on this tour left him with temporary groin and shoulder injuries). As Alejandro and his crew of backup dancers popped and locked, an LED screen, which doubled as the stage, radiated color-changing neon lights beneath them. During “Lejos del Cielo,” a wire harness lifted him into the air; suspended and spotlit, he sang caramel falsettos. Mid-concert, Alejandro brought out the Jabbawockeez for a nostalgic dance number that warmed every cold millennial heart in the room. It was an impressive display of showmanship that confirmed the Puerto Rican pretty boy’s status as one of the most prescient creative minds in pop-reggaeton. –Isabelia Herrera

In late March, I joined an army of “shluts” to bask in the glow of our provocative princess: Shygirl. The UK singer transformed the historic Wiltern theater into a pounding West Hollywood nightclub with her twinkly pop confections. Stunning visuals bounced off the tilted mirror hanging above Shygirl, immersing her in a psychedelic world that paired perfectly with her glitchy sound. Early on in the show, she brought out Tinashe for the “Heaven” remix to mass queer euphoria–a brief glimpse of the tour that could’ve been . But the show didn’t lose steam after Tinashe’s swift departure. Two dancers joined onstage, flipping and spinning down free standing poles as Shygirl let out playful moans and gasps. It was a night of unabashed horniness, especially for my friend, who made several Grindr matches throughout the night. As for me, “anytime that coochie calls, I'll be on my way.” –Maria Eberhart

Sudan Archives

Violinist, singer, songwriter, and producer Brittney Parks came through town once before, in 2021, so her ridiculously high-energy set as Sudan Archives wasn’t a surprise. But this summer she arrived with the extra firepower of Natural Brown Prom Queen , her tour de force of house, R&B, hip-hop, and pop released in 2022. Alone on stage, in a mini-skirt and heels, Parks shimmied, belted, and sawed away virtuosically at her violin, winning over an early-evening audience awaiting guitar-heavy headliners the War on Drugs. For celebratory finale “Selfish Soul,” Parks was joined by what she called her first-ever backup dancers, students of a free ballet and dance program for Black and brown youth offered through a local nonprofit. Embedded in the movements of both Parks and the dancers was a feeling of spontaneity and promise that stood as a counterargument to so much of the top-down, blockbuster-dominated pop culture of 2023: If she can do it, so can they, so can you. –Marc Hogan

Sweeping Promises

After a stellar and bittersweet last-ever set from local punks Green/Blue, Sweeping Promises’ show at 7th St Entry, the tiny venue attached to the historic First Avenue club, began inconspicuously. Lira Mondal quietly sang the opening lines of “Eraser,” the first track of their latest album, Good Living Is Coming for You , before belting at full volume. Good Living is an album with built-in lo-fi muffle, but with no distance at all between audience and band, everything became infinitely more powerful: the bass grooves, Caulfield Schnug’s guitar solos, and more than anything, Mondal’s extremely powerful voice. The show happened days after the mass shooting at the Minneapolis DIY venue Nudieland , and the band, which came up through a similar network of DIY scenes and punk house shows, paid a solemn tribute between songs. It was a great performance for a community that needed to experience loud, excellent music together in a small room. –Evan Minsker

When SZA took the stage at Madison Square Garden, it was the rare opportunity to watch an artist ascend to arena goddess status in real time. SOS had been firmly ensconced at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for several weeks, its songs equally inescapable in the grocery store and in your TikTok feed; in order to maintain that momentum, SZA needed to prove herself as a can’t-miss live performer at one of music’s most storied venues. She pulled out all the stops, musically and visually: There was a jaw-dropping stage set featuring a giant boat, an even bigger anchor, and an airborne life raft that flew the singer around the arena as she tossed flower petals down to the crowd. There was a staggering display of range, from the in-your-face raps of “Smoking on My Ex Pack” to the lovesick balladeering of “Nobody Gets Me” to the pure pop of “Kiss Me More.” There were even guest appearances by Phoebe Bridgers and Cardi B. The show both started and ended with SZA perched on a diving board, mirroring the SOS cover . At the beginning, it was an image of loneliness and introspection, a woman surrounded by nothing more than her thoughts and the waves below. By the end, it was an image of triumph, as she looked out upon her vast and powerful kingdom. –Amy Phillips

The Bowery Ballroom turned into a 2008 middle school dance when TisaKorean came to town for his Silly Tour. In the crowd you could spot baggy outfits that would have had mid-aughts Atlanta on smash and snap dances that haven’t been done in New York since the last Yankees World Series win. On stage, TisaKorean was the human Energizer Bunny, as he churned through joints from 2017 to this year’s Let Me Update My Status . Along with his hypeman Mighty Bay, both dressed like NBA Street Vol. 2 characters, they passed out props like Solo cups to make it feel like one big house party and t-shirts so people could spin them in the air for “HeLiCoPtEr sWaG Pt4.Mp3,” naturally. At one point, Tisa and Mighty Bay changed into hot dog and taco costumes, and the crowd reacted like they had been waiting all their lives for that moment. –Alphonse Pierre

Unwound reuniting felt like a dream , even when their physical presence onstage at Chicago’s Thalia Hall proved otherwise. Red and purple lights brought a backdrop of arching tree silhouettes to life while the post-hardcore band dove through its catalog like 21 years had never passed. Unwound structured the set much like their albums, with some sections focused on quiet reflections and others on abrasive, emotional breakdowns designed to lure you into a place of introspection and then snap you out of it. Reunion shows aren’t obligated to be good; plenty of bands have made that obvious by now. But the care with which singer-guitarist Justin Trosper and drummer Sara Lund approached the project following bassist Vern Rumsey’s death was the most affecting part of it all. Watching Karp’s Jared Warren up there in Rumsey’s place, tearing through those unmistakable basslines with a taut aggressiveness that honored, but never outshined, Rumsey’s originals, was deeply entrancing. In a year of countless memorable shows, Unwound was the one that’s impossible to forget, just like the best dreams are. –Nina Corcoran

Water From Your Eyes

The boat looked like a 1940s barbershop had been reincarnated as a middlebrow maritime entertainment vessel. Old-timey and white, with tacky curlicue adornments and two peppermint poles in the front, the four-story Liberty Belle carried concertgoers along a scenic route from Manhattan’s Pier 36 around the Statue of Liberty. (A gaggle of drunken girls admired Lady Liberty like she was a gay-famous diva, shrieking “you’re so cunt!!!”) This was the Water From Your Eyes Everyone’s Crushed record release boat show, a four-hour choose-your-own-adventure as bonkers and funny as the experimental rock duo themselves. On board, you could load up a paper plate of baked ziti and empanadas in a carpeted area that screamed “bar mitzvah,” have an awkward run-in with a Tinder date who ghosted you a year ago (I survived), and thrash around as cool-kid bands of New York City, including Frost Children, blasted through hits in a dank purple chamber. Rachel Brown looked effortlessly cool, as they always do, singing “Barley” in a leather jacket and sunglasses. At some point, my friend’s weed fell out of their joint right as they were about to smoke it, which was just perfect. –Cat Zhang

Leave it to Yaeji to find new possibilities in the humble rolling office chair. Backed by dancers Madison Wada and Iliana Penichet-Ramírez, she spun and wheeled her way through the With a Hammer tour, with a scene-stealing appearance by the big hammer itself. The clever choreography (by Monica Mirabile) brilliantly visualized the album’s playful, start-where-you-are creative ethos, and a rapturous reception from the crowd in Los Angeles went a long way toward warming up a corporate-feeling downtown venue. In Yaeji’s house, it’s all about recognizing everything we can do with the tools we’ve already got. –Anna Gaca

Moses was amazing. Very enigmatic but still approachable, and he had a lot of fun with the crowd. The performance was incredible, his voice is truly something to behold. I've listened to "Worth It" a million times but still got chills when he hit the high note. Would highly recommend seeing Moses live, especially before he gets really famous and expensive to see.

The. Best. Night. Of. My. Entire. Life. This was the second time for me to see Adele. Last time I was quite high up, this time I was in Golden Circle. The atmosphere was incredible, Adele made me feel like I was the only one there in a packed out stadium. The banter she has with her audience in hilarious, she includes everyone and t feels like you're hanging out with your best mate you've known for years. As for her songs, the emotion and passion she sings with is just so raw and heart warming, I cried so many tears. You can tell she has an absolute ball on stage and she has so many upbeat songs and the sass she has is unreal- it cracks me up every time! I feel so grateful to have been apart of this tour and so happy that Adele decided to share this experience with every single one of us. I hope she has the most relaxing break with her family and hope she knows we'll always be here for her whenever/ if she decides to come back. Xx

I saw these guys at the Subterranean in Chicago-- what an insane show. They electrified the crowd with non stop moshing, shoving, and stage diving, it was absolute madness. By the end of the gig I was utterly soaked with other peoples beer (theres always someone with a sloshing cup in a pit; why? just drink it!) and dripping with sweat. this show was epic, if you ever have the opportunity to see these guys you have to seize it-- they put on one hell of a show.

The most incredible, angelic, beautiful person to ever grace this earth. I've never been more stunned by a performance. SZA met and exceeded all of my expectations, I cannot put into words how amazing she is live. It's an experience you don't want to miss if you get the chance to see her. She was so happy and humble and was continuiously appoligizing for being sick and I honestly couldn't tell, that's how great she is. Also the experience brought me life not only because I got to see her preform but because everyone was singing every single word to every song with her. Truly incredible when you are surrounded in a room full of people singing your favorite songs at the top of their lungs. Needless to say I want a live version of ctrl after all of this so I can reminisce.

Ethereal, hopeful, humble, powerful... just absolute ART. The show was focused on everyone, a celebration of culture, love, identities, and struggle. I love that she made it more about the group on stage as a whole than just her- Tons of stage presence nonetheless. Beautiful band, beautiful backup singers. The lighting was amazing and the stage was so well done and simple. Solange holds her own and I cannot wait to see her when she comes back. You can tell she was feeling it when she got down on the left side of the stage and started singing to us, beautiful moment that reminds me why I love going to live shows/concerts. Flying Lotus was an absolute trip as well. I wish she would've brought Kelela out on this date... Scales is such a beautiful song and I'd of loved to see it live with them two.

Absolutely incredible! The music sounded amazing live, not like anything I've heard before. Jónsi Birgisson's voice is incredible live also, even earning applause from the crowd for the length of some of the notes he pulled off. The visuals were stunning. The lights and background of the stage were beautiful. Overall a wonderful experience and will absolutely be seeing them again if I get the opportunity!

Summer is time for so many delights, not least of which meeting your favorite musicians as they take to the road for sprawling tours.

In addition to the number of great shows coming to Columbia, household names and cherished indie acts will be packing up and taking their shows to Missouri. Here are just 23 of the tours worth catching in our state through August.

June 4: Noah Kahan at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre (St. Louis)

It's not "Stick Season" per se, but it is the right time to catch Kahan, one of our moment's most popular singer-songwriters. Ryan Beatty shares the bill. Tickets range from $310-$487.

June 9-10: Sarah McLachlan at Starlight Theatre (Kansas City), St. Louis Music Park (St. Louis area)

Celebrating 30 years of her luminous record "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" — which houses signature songs like "Possession," "Hold On," "Good Enough" and "Ice Cream" — McLachlan will visit Missouri back-to-back nights. The wonderful Feist shares the bill. Tickets are $25.50-$105.50 in Kansas City, $36-$110 in St. Louis.

June 12: Jon Batiste at St. Louis Music Park

The Roots N Blues festival veteran, former Stephen Colbert bandleader, and Oscar- and Grammy-winning American treasure tours behind his "World Music Radio" album from last summer. Tickets range from $29-$125.

June 21: Janet Jackson at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

A pop and R&B legend with too many hits to name, Jackson's "Together Again" tour is, in a way, her own Eras run. One of St. Louis' favorite musical sons, Nelly, will share the bill. Tickets run from $47 to $212.

June 23: The Flaming Lips at Uptown Theater (Kansas City)

Do you realize ... the Lips never fail to put on a Technicolor, mind-bending rock 'n' roll show? Hear one of the Midwest's great weirdo bands whenever you can. Tickets are $49-$79.

June 26: Kurt Vile at The Pageant (St. Louis)

The great shaggy dog of indie rock, Philly-area native Kurt Vile has crafted some of the best guitar jams of the past 15 years. Emily Robb shares the bill. Tickets range from $32-$35.

June 27, 28: Lyle Lovett and His Large Band at The Factory (Chesterfield), Uptown

You can't ever go wrong with Lovett, whose hall-of-fame caliber catalog stretches from wry and spry country ramblers to some of the best ballads you'll ever hear. Tickets are $69-$149 in Chesterfield, $49-$135 in Kansas City.

July 6: Iron and Wine at The Pageant

"Light Verse," the latest record from Sam Beam's Iron and Wine project is gentle and strange and sublime, a re-articulation of Beam's place among our best living songwriters. The dynamic Amythyst Kiah shares the bill. Tickets are $37.50-$50.

July 10: The Baseball Project at Record Bar (Kansas City)

A midsummer classic? Perhaps so, when this baseball-themed band featuring members of R.E.M. (Peter Buck, Mike Mills), Dream Syndicate (Steve Wynn), The Minus 5 (Scott McCaughey) and Filthy Friends (Linda Pitmon) pays a visit to the home of the Royals. Tickets are $29.

July 23: Alanis Morissette, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Morgan Wade at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Dubbed the "Triple Moon" tour, this bill revolves around Morissette, whose work seems as relevant as ever, but packs in a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer in Jett and the serious talent of Wade. Tickets are $37-$299.

July 26: Olivia Rodrigo at T-Mobile Center (Kansas City)

Rodrigo is set to performe her "Guts" out on the tour named for her 2023 record, which yielded such smashes as "Vampire" and "Get Him Back!" PinkPantheress shares the bill. Ticket prices TBA.

July 27: Santana and Counting Crows at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Good songs seem to be the connective tissue between guitar god Carlos Santana's outfit and the resilient Crows; Adam Duritz and Co. remain tender road warriors after all these years, delivering their work with a painter's touch. Tickets range from $44-$200.

July 30: Red Hot Chili Peppers at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Feel both California's heat and cool washing over you as the legendary funk-rock hitmakers push into their fifth decade of music. Otoboke Beaver shares the bill. Tickets run from $83-$506.

July 30: Future and Metro Boomin at T-Mobile Center

Future and Metro Boomin didn't start the fire exactly, but "Like That," their recent collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, reignited a 21st-century rap beef. The pair's not one, but two collaborative records in 2024 propel them into this tour, which will no doubt feature a dynamic survey of their work together. Tickets are $44-$194.

July 30-31: Phish at Chaifetz Arena (St. Louis)

Fresh off playing Las Vegas' spectacular Sphere, the beloved jam band will venture on into the summer, playing — what will no doubt be — two nights that can never be repeated. Tickets are $78-$269.

Aug. 8: Jason Isbell at The Factory

A frequent visitor to Missouri — and to festivals such as the former Roots N Blues — Isbell remains at the head of the current class of American songwriters. His most recent record, last year's "Weathervanes," contains a generous handful of canonical cuts. Powerhouse singer Shemekia Copeland shares the bill. Tickets range from $59-$99.

Aug. 9-10: Blink-182 at T-Mobile Center, Enterprise Center (St. Louis)

The re-formed punks are older and wiser but, thankfully, no less funny or filthy. Blink excels at anthemic singalongs that bridge the gap between the serious and absurd. Pierce the Veil shares both bills; Hot Milk will also play St. Louis. Tickets range from $44-$250 in Kansas City, $35-$176 in St. Louis.

Aug. 12: Childish Gambino at T-Mobile Center

Back on the musical tip — but for how long? — Donald Glover has promised new Childish Gambino albums that may just conclude the project. Which, of course, makes it a crucial time to hear the entertainment polymath perform his artful blend of pop, R&B and hip-hop. Pop phenom Willow Smith shares the bill. Tickets range from $99-$343.

Aug. 15: Green Day at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Showing off its staying power, the Bay Area pop-punk legends will play through not one, but two landmark anniversary albums: "Dookie" and "American Idiot." Rancid and The Linda Lindas share a stacked bill. Tickets range from $102-$510.

Aug. 17-18: Ben Folds at Gillioz Theatre (Springfield), The Factory

Gen X's piano man has revived his Paper Airplane Request Tour, in which fans can do just that — send their requests floating through venue space to the remarkable musical craftsman. Tickets are $42.50 to $122.50 in Springfield, $55-$115 in St. Louis.

Aug. 20-21: Zach Bryan at T-Mobile Center

One of the most significant names in country music today, Bryan tours behind, well, his name — the self-titled 2023 album that landed him on numerous year-end lists and earned him a Grammy for his duet with Kacey Musgraves. Levi Turner and Matt Maeson round out the bill. Tickets are $54-$320.

Aug. 23: Dierks Bentley at T-Mobile Center

Now something like an elder statesman of country, Bentley has been one of the genre's most consistent — and stylistically interesting — hitmakers for more than 20 years now. The Arizona native will bring Chase Rice and Tanner Usrey out to Missouri with him. Tickets range from $25.75 to $115.75.

Aug. 23: Waxahatchee at The Pageant

Now calling Kansas City home Waxahatchee leader Katie Crutchfield will play the other side of Interstate 70, touring behind "Tigers Blood," far and away one of the best records of 2024's first half. Terrific songwriter Tre Burt shares the bill. Tickets are $35-$50.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to star in 'Road Diary' on Hulu, Disney+

What's life like backstage with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band?

Find out in “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band,” which debuts on Hulu and Disney+ in October. The documentary has “exclusive footage” from E Street's current tour, beginning in January 2023 with rehearsals at the Vogel in the Count Base Center for the Arts in Red Bank. There are also interviews with band members, including Springsteen, and concert footage.

Thom Zimny, a frequent Springsteen collaborator, is the director. 

“ 'Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band' opens a new door to Springsteen’s creative process for fans around the world, sharing fly-on-the-wall footage of band rehearsals and special moments backstage — as well as hearing from Springsteen himself,” states a Hulu/Disney+ release. “These conversations follow Springsteen closely as he develops the story he wants to tell with this tour’s setlist — interspersed with rare archival clips of the E Street Band, underscoring themes of life, loss, mortality and community. In this way, it serves as an essential and never-before-seen chapter in an autobiographical series spanning Springsteen’s memoir 'Born to Run,' 'Springsteen on Broadway,' and the films 'Western Stars' and 'Letter to You.' ”

The tour began Feb. 1, 2023, in Tampa, and was marked by positive critical reviews — and a rash of absences by E Street Band members because of COVID. Steven Van Zandt, Nils Lofgren, Jake Clemons, Soozie Tyrell and Lisa Lowell all missed shows.

Several shows were also postponed due to an undisclosed illness, and for a Springsteen illness, as stated for two shows at Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia last August.

After three triumphant shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (Aug. 30, and Sept. 1 and 3), Springsteen announced the tour was postponed for the rest of the year as he battled peptic ulcer disease.

“The last four shows, I was playing really ill,” said Springsteen March 21 on SiriusXM's E Street Radio with Jim Rotolo. “So that was Foxborough, which was a great show, and the three Meadowlands shows, which were all, really — the band playing at its best and in front of a great New Jersey audience and a great Boston audience. But I was really not well.”

The tour resumed March 19 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, and its currently in Ireland, where shows are running over three hours.

The exact date for the debut of “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band” has not been released yet.

UCLA Flux Spring Concert

Join us for the final uclaFLUX concert of the 2023-2024 academic year.

uclaFLUX is devoted to the performance of chamber music from the 20th and 21st centuries. We explore and embrace new performance approaches and techniques associated with the dynamic, ever-evolving languages of contemporary music. In preparing to perform and produce quarterly concerts, students learn innovative modes of expression, interact directly with composers, and develop skills in concert promotion, production, and entrepreneurship. Repertoire is chosen according to enrollment, though pre-formed groupings are welcomed. Interested students must be in attendance on Day One, when instrumentalists, singers, and conductors are invited to audition.

This event is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2023 - 24 Dobrow Series.

Like most of UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s programs, this event is FREE!  Early arrival is recommended. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. No RSVP required.

“Y’all, this is my first tour ever!” Megan Thee Stallion shouted with glee after picking up a floral bouquet thrown onto the stage by a fan. Surprisingly, after headlining and performing at numerous festivals in the years since her star began to rise in 2017, Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer ” is her first full-scale headlining trek, and on this Tuesday night she’d sold out New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden.

The energy peaked and the crowd went batshit when a special guest walked onstage to show her support: Cardi B. The two rapped “Bongos” and their smash single “WAP,” although Cardi was more focused on dancing. Next, Stallion’s opener GloRilla, whose set earlier in the night got a visit from A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, came out joined the pair for “Wanna Be.”

“Y’all wanna hear ‘Wanna Be’ with muthafuckin Cardi B?” GloRilla shouted. “‘Wanna Be’ muthafucking remix about to drop y’all — be ready. Stay tuned!”

But just when it seemed the audience couldn’t get any rowdier, “Savage Remix” came thundering through the speakers, although Beyonce did not join in for their joint 2019 hit, which for many is filled with memories of learning TikTok dances at home to pass the time during pandemic lockdown.

She closed out “Savage” and the night, picking up another bouquet as confetti drenched the stage, blowing kisses and saying a tearful goodnight: “I love you, New York Hotties!”

Noah Kahan dives into time in Music City, Grammy nomination and mental health

Noah Kahan's star rose throughout 2023 as the "Stick Season" singer embarked on an extensive tour, released musical collaboration upon collaboration, garnered a Grammy award nomination and recently performed on " Saturday Night Live ," which he called " one of the greatest moments " of his career.

The Americana-folk singer-songwriter, known for "She Calls Me Back" and "Dial Drunk," has always enjoyed a cult following. And now he's bringing Americana music into the limelight.

The Vermont native and ex-Nashvillian sat down with The Tennessean to reflect on his year of accomplishments, detail his on-the-road lifestyle and chat about where much of his music career began: Music City.

Kahan's time in Nashville: 'It was really special'

Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater was one of Kahan's favorite tour stops of the year on the "Stick Season" tour, largely due to surprise appearances from performers Gregory Alan Isakov and Hozier. But they weren't the only reasons the tour stop meant so much to him.

"Performing back in the town...it was really special," he said.

Kahan remembers sitting in his dad's house in Vermont, writing music, and thinking that Nashville is where it all happens for musicians. After receiving a record deal in Vermont, he packed his bags and moved to Nashville after graduating high school in 2017.

"I went to Nashville, and started collaborating and started co-writing and started getting a chance to kind of see the music industry for the first time," Kahan said. "And I learned a lot about what it's like to be a musician and to be a songwriter, and fell in love with writing for myself and fell in love with writing for other people."

He remembers how artists in the city influenced his work, like how he listened to Kacey Musgraves' 2018 album "Golden Hour" on repeat, noting how Musgraves walks the line between country folk and Americana. He remembers playing the East Room years ago to a crowd of about 15 people. He remembers performing at a slew of open mic nights, singing in bars and attempting to win people over.

Now, after performing in Nashville in October, he's returning to the city in 2024 to play Bridgestone Arena for two nights. "It's just like so cool to look back and think about where I came from and what it looked like a few years ago compared to what it looks like now," he said.

After Kahan's move to Nashville, he toured extensively, which forced him to move back to Vermont a year later. His career then took him to New York City, Vermont during the pandemic, and he eventually landed in Boston.

"I feel like it's really Nashville that's the only place I've ever felt truly at home. I've been in a lot of places, but a lot of them I felt like an outsider. Nashville is one place that I felt like I belonged and I really love it there."

How Kahan's career took off in 2023: Year of collaboration

Since he left Nashville, Kahan has become one of the biggest voices in Americana.

"I've always had a lovely fan base and a lot of opportunities, but this year here, it's been a whole new level," Noah said. He added that his team has worked tirelessly to reach these new heights. "It's been really cool. It's been a really wholesome, special year for us."

Kahan's year, as he noted, is not one he has accomplished alone. After all, 2023 was his year of collaboration.

This year, Kahan released "Everywhere, Everything" with Gracie Abrams, "Northern Attitude" with Hozier, "She Calls Me Back" with Kacey Musgraves, "Sarah's Place" with Zach Bryan, "Call Your Mom" with Lizzy McAlpine, "Dial Drunk" with Post Malone and "We're All Gonna Die" with Joy Oladokun.

It's hard for Kahan to pick a favorite collaboration, but his time with Hozier sticks out. The two first appeared onstage together in October at Kahan's Nashville show.

Later, Kahan released his revamp of "North Attitude" with Hozier, the same song they performed in Nashville together.

"I've been a fan of Hozier my whole life and have lived his music," Kahan said of his time collaborating with Hozier. "It's just one of those moments of like meeting your heroes and having them be really awesome as a person and an amazing as a musician as well."

Kahan told The Tennessean he has something in the works with Isakov — the folk singer. He's the other guest from Kahan's Nashville show. For now, details are hush-hush.

When it comes to dream collaborations, Kahan hopes to one day work with Phoebe Bridgers, Justin Vernon and Bon Iver.

And just last month, Kahan was nominated for a 2024 Grammy award for Best New Artist. In the category, he sits alongside collaborator Gracie Abrams, Fred again.., Ice Spice, Coco Jones, Victoria Monét and Nashville's own Jelly Roll and duo The War And Treaty.

Kahan reflected, "A Grammy nomination has been the first thing that I felt like fully proud and fully able to process and fully able to be really excited about. Waking up every day and being like 'I am Grammy nominated now.'

"It's such a cool thing to tell myself and some that I've always really wanted secretly."

Kahan's mental health advocacy and self-care on tour

On top of his Grammy nomination and busy tour, Kahan also launched a mental health initiative : The Busyhead Project , which shares a name with his 2019 debut album.

Kahan has always been vocal about his relationship with therapy and medication surrounding mental health topics. Both in his performances and conversations with the media , Kahan speaks openly about his mental health and actively works to reduce stigmas.

Kahan aimed this year to raise $1 million for the project. He raised double that, and the numbers are climbing. The project works with a variety of national and local organizations to increase conversations, amplify discussions around mental health and democratize resources. The Busyhead Project also highlights local organizations achieving meaningful work on tour.

While Kahan helps others through advocacy, his vulnerability and openness is one reason fans relate to him. After an extensive, worldwide tour, Kahan is transparent about continuing to work on his own mental well-being.

"It's a constant struggle," he said. "Again, I think the worst thing to do is to pretend you have all the answers because then you expect yourself to be happy all the time and feel like you're a failure for not. So, I try to be really patient with myself when I can and just allow myself to feel what I'm feeling."

On tour, Kahan prioritizes eating well and is grateful for access to therapy. He also has a full-time tour pup, a German Shepherd named Penny. But most importantly, he turns to his loved ones.

"The worst place to be when you get tense, and you curl into a ball and keep people away from you, and let those feelings kind of multiply," Kahan continued. "What helps me stop that is opening up and talking to people that I trust and love."
