Im Panorama Restaurant der MS Thurgau Ultra werdet ihr von zauberhaftem Essen verwöhnt. Genießt dabei durch die großen Panorama-Fenster eine tolle Aussicht auf die Flüsse dieser Welt. Neben einem morgendlichen Frühstück mit Ausblick auf die vorbeiziehenden Landschaften, gibt es zum Mittag- und Abendessen mehrgängige Menüs.

Panorama Salon & Theatron

Im vorderen Bereich der MS Thurgau  Ultra ist der große Panorama Salon platziert. Genießt einen traumhaften Ausblick in Fahrtrichtung des Schiffes. Vielleicht bei einem leckeren Getränk von der Bar? Am Abend verwandelt sich der Salon dann zum ,,Theatron’’ bzw. Theater, in dem ihr angenehme Abendunterhaltung genießen könnt.

Smoker's Lounge & Dampfschiff-Salon

Ein Highlight auf der MS Thurgau Ultra: Die ,,Smoker's Lounge’’ und der Dampfschiff-Salon. Hierbei handelt es sich um speziell ausgewiesene Raucherbereiche im Inneren des Flussschiffes. Genießt bei einem guten Whiskey und einer guten Zigarre die tolle Aussicht auf die vorbeiziehenden Landschaften.

Wiener Café & Bibliothek

Eine ebenso nette Gelegenheit zum Abschalten: Das Wiener Café und die Bibliothek an Bord der MS Thurgau Ultra. Taucht bei einem spannenden Buch, einem guten Kaffee und vielleicht auch einem Stück Torte in eine neue Welt ein.

Fitness, Wellness & Beauty

Wer die Kalorien vom Essen der MS Thurgau Ultra abtrainieren will, kann dies im kleinen (aber feinen) Fitnessraum tun. Hier findet ihr einige Sportgeräte und -utensilien wie z. B. einen Crosstrainer, ein Laufband und Hanteln vor. Sofern ihr es euch im Urlaub so richtig gut gehen lassen wollt, könnt ihr den Massagebereich, gegenüber des Fitnessraums, auf der MS Thurgau Ultra nutzen - dies allerdings gegen Aufpreis.

Darüberhinaus bietet das Schiff noch einen Beauty Salon. Hier könnt ihr euch z. B. vor dem Gala-Abend aufpeppen lassen.

MS Thurgau Ultra is a suite ship furnished with noble woods, high-quality marble, polished chrome, and leather, creating a very elegant ambiance. In the entrance area, there are the reception, glass elevator, and glass dome. The onboard restaurant is fully glazed, offering magnificent views on three sides. The Dampfschiff-Salon and Smoker's Lounge serve fine cigars and whiskey. The highlight of the ship is certainly the completely glazed Theatron with its Panorama-Bar, providing a fascinating forward view during the day and an ideal place in the evening to end a day full of events. Onboard, there is also a wellness area with a hairdresser, sauna, jacuzzi/hot tub, massages, and various fitness equipment. Willkommen in einer anderen Welt – Willkommen auf der MS Thurgau Ultra

Die MS Thurgau Ultra ist ein Suitenschiff wie kein zweites. Die TwinCruiser-Bauweise, bei der die Antriebs- und Passagiereinheit getrennt sind, garantiert ein beinahe vibrationsfreies Schweben über Europas Flüsse. Die exquisite Ausstattung aus edlen Hölzern, hochwertigem Marmor, glänzendem Chrom und Leder schafft dafür das passende, stilvolle Ambiente.

Bereits beim Betreten des Schiffs ist die einzigartige Atmosphäre zu spüren. Der Eingangsbereich mit Réception und Glasaufzug, Galatreppe und Glasdom vermitteln einen ersten Eindruck der grosszügigen Bauweise. Sie werden vieles entdecken, was es auf anderen Flussschiffen nicht gibt: das vollverglaste Restaurant zum Beispiel mit seiner einzigartigen Raumhöhe und grandiosen Aussicht nach drei Seiten. Oder den Dampfschiff-Salon und die Smoker’s Lounge, in der feine Zigarren und edler Whisky serviert werden.

Die Krönung des Schiffes ist aber sicherlich das vollverglaste Theatron mit seiner Panorama-Bar, welches bei Tag einen faszinierenden Ausblick nach vorne bietet und am Abend der ideale Ort ist, um einen erlebnisreichen Tag ausklingen zu lassen. Die Suiten

Alle Suiten auf Mittel- und Oberdeck verfügen über ein Doppelbett und einen französischen Balkon. Zwei bequeme Sessel und ein kleiner Tisch gehören ebenso zum Standard wie Radio, Flatscreen mit digitalem Infotainment-System, eine Mini-Bar, Telefon, Safe und W-LAN. Grosszügige Kleiderschränke mit verspiegelten Türen bieten genügend Platz, um Ihre Garderobe komfortabel und sicher zu verstauen. Alle Bäder verfügen über WC, Dusche, Rasierspiegel und Haartrockner. Die Suite 200 ist rollstuhlgängig gebaut und hat ein grösseres Bad, verfügt aber über keine Sessel. Durch die verglasten Fenster haben die Marmorbäder auf Mittel- und Oberdeck Tageslicht. Jeder Wohnraum ist mit einer individuell regulierbaren Klimaanlage bestückt. Unsere Flussschiffe nehmen je nach Größe von 45 bis zu 200 Passagiere auf.

Haben alle Flussschiff-Kabinen ein Fenster?

Alle Kabinen verfügen über Fenster, die allerdings aus Sicherheitsgründen teilweise nicht geöffnet werden können. Je nach Lage haben einige Kabinen und Suiten einen französischen Balkon mit Glasschiebetüren.

Wird man seekrank auf Flussschiffen?

Wegen des geringen Wellengangs wird man auf Flussschiffen kaum seekrank. Zudem gleiten einige unserer Schiffe dank einer besonderen Bauweise nahezu vibrationsfrei über die Flüsse.

Das luxuriöse Flussschiff, welches im Frühling 2024 fertig gestellt wird, bietet Platz für max. 172 Gäste in 78 Kabinen und 8 Suiten (ca. 21.5 m²). Die Kabinen auf dem Hauptdeck (ca. 13 m²), die Standard Kabinen (ca. 14 m²) sowie die Superieur Kabinen (ca. 16 m²) sind mit Dusche/WC, Föhn, Kühlschrank, Safe, TV/Radio und individuell regulierbarer Klimaanlage ausgestattet.   Alle Kabinen sind Aussenkabinen, ausgestattet mit zwei Betten, die auch getrennt werden können, Auf Mittel- und Oberdeck verfügen die Kabinen über einen Infinity-Balkon mit absenkbaren Panoramafenstern. Die grosszügigen Suiten bieten zusätzlich eine komfortable Sitzecke. Die Fenster auf dem Hauptdeck lassen sich aus Sicherheitsgründen nicht öffnen. 

Das Mitteldeck und das Oberdeck sind mit einem Lift verbunden.   Nichtraucherschiff.  (Rauchen in den speziell gekennzeichneten Aussenbereichen erlaubt.)

Thurgau, the cyclist's holiday paradise on Lake Constance The Canton of Thurgau extends across undulating countryside along the southern banks of Lake Constance. The Canton of Thurgau is a cyclist’s paradise. Families, too, appreciate the beautiful landscape and the camping sites right by the lake. Nature lovers can hike well-trodden paths and discover the region’s natural gems. In addition to its beautiful scenery, Thurgau boasts a wealth of unique accommodation options, such as the Bubble Hotel or the Zirkuswagen. Get out and about in the great outdoors The lush green hills on the southern banks of the lake are ideal for hikers and cyclists. Around 1,000 kilometres of hiking trails and 900 kilometres of cycling paths criss-cross the canton. There is also a wide range of cultural attractions: from buildings on stilts to Roman castles, and from medieval chapels and monasteries to imperial parks and gardens. Thurgau’s other treasures include its luxuriant apple blossoms. When the canton’s numerous apple trees bloom in spring, the countryside by Lake Constance turns into a vast sea of pink. Family bliss by Lake Constance Children never get bored in the Canton of Thurgau. Its idyllic scenery and the wide range of activities on offer will keep your entire family happy. In summer, you can bathe at the longest beach on Lake Constance, which stretches for over 62 kilometres, while the flat terrain is ideal for bike tours with the whole family.

Onboard facilities.

The MS Thurgau Prestige belongs to the Scylla fleet since 2009. She has a length of 110m, is 11.40m wide and has a draft of 1.96m. This makes her have enough space for 140 guests in 6 master suites, 7 junior suites and 57 double cabins. The upper and middle deck have French balconies and all cabins are faced outwards.

On board the MS Thurgau Prestige the guests have access to one restaurant, as well as a fitness room and a spa with the latest equipment. Furthermore, the MS Thurgau Prestige sports a lounge with a bar and enough room to dance, a bistro with a terrace can be found at the back of the ship. The other features of the ship are a board shop, a spacious sun deck with a pool, sun beds and a putting green. There is an elevator connecting all decks (with the exemption of the sun deck). The vessel is fully air conditioned.

Review of ms thurgau gold.

The 2023-built MS Thurgau Gold cruise ship is the newest riverboat in Thurgau Travel's fleet . The vessel was constructed by Scheepswerf Den Breejen Shipyard (in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Holland) under the project Rheingold. Thurgau Gold is exclusively charted to Thurgau Travel.

The ship cruises on Rhine and Moselle rivers, with most itineraries departing from homeport Basel Switzerland .

The vessel (ENI number 02339819 ) is Switzerland- flagged (MMSI 269057854) and registered in Basel .

Like most modern river cruise ships, Thurgau Gold is equipped with batteries (for peak shaving/loads), solar panels (photovoltaic cells built into the railings on Deck 3), and a heat/energy recovery system that utilizes ~85% of the waste heat from the diesel engines' cooling water and excess steam.

The engines are fuel-efficient and fitted with a marine scrubber system (catalytic converter system for reduction on exhaust gases/COx and NOx emissions).

The ship's interior was designed by Omega Architects (Druten Holland-based design architecture firm that also specializes in yacht design).

Thurgau Gold's christening ceremony was held on July 4, 2023, in Basel. The special event was led by godmother Linda Fah (1987-born Swiss singer and TV presenter, Miss Switzerland 2009). On the same day started the Maiden Voyage (12-day roundtrip itinerary). The naming ceremony and the inaugural cruise were also attended by Thurgau Travel's owners and executives (Hans and Ernestine Kaufmann, Peter Kaufmann, Pia Pauli-Kaufmann, and Daniel Pauli-Kaufmann) as well as Nadja Hogger (reigning Thurgau's Apple Queen for 2022-2023).

Decks and cabins

Thurgau Gold staterooms (91 total) are all with double occupancy and in three types - Gold Suite, French Balcony (Superior and Deluxe), and Window (standard).

The largest accommodations are the 4x Gold Suites (sized 23 m2 / 250 ft2). French Balcony cabins are size 16 m2 (170 ft2) while the Lower Deck's Standard cabins are the smallest (14 m2 / 150 ft2) and fitted with a non-opening window positioned near the ceiling.

All passenger cabins are stylishly designed, comfortable and equipped with individual air conditioning, LCDTV, radio, phone, hairdryer, electronic safe box (in the closet), sleeping area (non-convertible double bed, leather headboard, nightstands with reading lamps) seating area (two plush armchairs with a round table), en-suite bathroom (single-sink vanity with drawers, wall mirror, a round LED-lighted magnifying mirror, glass shower, wall-hung toilet).

All French Balcony staterooms are located on Middle and Upper decks and have a large (wall-to-wall) window that slide-opens to the floor thus transforming into a balconette/French balcony. The four Gold Suites are midship on Upper Deck and each boasts a spacious living/sleeping space (double bed, sofa, armchair, coffee table) and two French balcony windows (both are opening). Suites' bathrooms are larger and with a double-sink vanity.

The boat has 4 decks (all are passenger-accessible) of which 3 are with cabins.

Shipboard facilities and amenities

The ship's Dining Room Restaurant (forward on Middle Deck/deck 2) is complimentary, spacious and with full capacity (accommodates all passengers in a single open seating arrangement). The restaurant offers buffet-style breakfast, whereas lunches and dinners are with multi-course menus and waiter-served. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are always available. A fresh salad bar is arranged at lunch.

Complimentary coffee and tea are served on deck 4/Sun Deck from 6 am and throughout the day. Local mineral water is provided daily and complimentary to all staterooms (2x bottles per cabin). Additional bottles of water can be provided upon request. Soft drinks, beer and wine by the glass, and alcoholic drinks cost extra as they are not included in the cruise fares.

The Sun Deck is an outdoor space fitted with padded premium garden furniture (sofas, armchairs, 4-seat dining tables) as well as comfortable reclining chairs/deckchairs and a sunbathing area with a Jacuzzi/whirlpool and sun loungers. There is also a Grill & Bar (alfresco dining venue located forward) with 4-seat tables and serving beverages and BBQ dishes. The sundeck's aft section has a canopy-shaded seating area covered by 3x retractable awnings.

Sun Deck's fore-located Navigation Bridge/Wheelhouse is telescopic (can be lowered for passing under low bridges).

One Elevator (passenger Lift) interconnects cabin decks 1-2-3 (Main-Middle-Upper). A Stairlift and outdoor stairs interconnect decks 3-4 (Upper-Sundeck).

The ship has an indoor Bar Lounge (Panorama-Salon) located forward on Upper Deck/deck 3. Adjacent to the Salon is the bow-facing Terrace with limited seating (several round tables with chairs). Panorama-Salon hosts the formal Captain's Cocktail Reception (welcome aboard event) and also serves the cruise company's onboard enrichment program. Lounge's activities include live entertainment (crew show, cooking demos, local guest performances), daily quiz games, themed and dance nights (often with live music), language courses, lectures (folklore- or history-themed) about the visited region along the current itinerary route.

The Lobby Hall houses the Reception Desk (24-hour guest services, assistance, purser), a Beverage Station (self-service coffee and tea counter for complimentary drinks), a small Boutique Shop (selling local/hand-made souvenirs, handicrafts, postcards, toiletries) and both boarding areas (portside and starboard).

Midship-starboard on Lower Deck (deck 1) is the Fitness and Wellness facility that consists of a Sauna Room (with panoramic views) and a small Gym (fitted with 1x treadmill/running machine, 1x cross trainer/elliptical machine, free weights, exercise maths).

A Brasserie (specialty restaurant) is located aft on Upper Deck (deck 3).

All the ship's main public venues (Restaurant, Lounge, Brasserie) are with floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows providing unobstructed panoramic views of the passing riverside scenery.

For October 2024 were scheduled two 10-day voyages between Basel and Linz (Austria) themed as "Flussspektakel Rhein, Main und Donau". The Basel-Linz itinerary visits Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Wertheim, Wurzburg, Bamberg , Nuremberg , Regensburg , Passau and Linz. The return voyage (Linz-Basel) visits the same port cities in reverse order.

5-day voyages were themed as "Auf Dichters Spuren", "Familienzeit auf dem Rhein", "Kurzfahrt nach Frankfurt", "Luxuriose Kurzfahrt nach Mainz", "Mainzer Kommissar und Philosophen", "Herbstlicher Familienspass".

9-day voyages were themed as "Luxuriose Rhein-Kreuzfahrt", "Genuss der Sinne", "Romische Baukunst und Winzerfreuden", "Aktiv-Flussreise nach Amsterdam".

MS Thurgau Gold cruise prices for the inaugural season varied between CHF 80-190 (Swiss Francs) per person per day, depending on the departure date/itinerary.
