The Motet Add New Singer Sarah Clarke to Ranks, Detail 28-City U.S. Tour

The Motet Add New Singer Sarah Clarke to Ranks, Detail 28-City U.S. Tour

Denver’s renowned funk and soul ensemble, The Motet, have set announced the newest addition to their ranks – lead singer Sarah Clarke. Known for her commanding vocals, impressive range, and dynamic stage presence, Clarke brings her exceptional talents to the group as they gear up for a thrilling 28-city U.S. tour set for this fall.

Hailing from Portland, Ore., Clarke is already well known for her captivating performances and remarkable songwriting abilities. She has toured across North America and fronted bands such as Dirty Revival and the soulful psych-rock group Con Brio. Recently, audiences may have already experienced her powerful vocals during her performances at Red Rocks and while singing with Portugal. The Man. Clarke has also made her mark in the local Portland music scene, collaborating with funk unit Outer Orbit, which boasts members from acclaimed bands like Ghost Note, Allen Stone, Gino Vannelli, and others.

As a full-time member of The Motet, Clarke is poised to take the band’s music to thrilling new heights. The Motet’s founder and drummer, Dave Watts, expressed the band’s exhilaration at having Clarke on board, praising her as “the most creative and collaborative singer we have ever worked with.” He further commended her infectious energy and excitement on stage, revealing that Clarke’s presence has inspired the band to elevate their performances to unprecedented levels.

For Clarke, joining The Motet is a dream come true; reflecting on her admiration for the band, Clarke shared, “The Motet has been one of my favorite bands since I started performing. Being given an opportunity to perform with them has been a little surreal, honestly.” Having previously opened for The Motet with her former band, Dirty Revival, Clarke was always left in awe of the band’s exceptional musicianship and artistry, both as a unified group and as individual talents.

Clarke’s musical prowess has been hailed as a perfect fit for The Motet, pushing her to deliver pristine vocal performances every night alongside the band’s skillful playing. Beyond their musical camaraderie, the members have formed a strong interpersonal bond, adding to the pleasure of collaborating on stage.

The Motet’s lineup, now featuring Clarke on vocals, includes Watts on drums, Joey Porter on keys, Garrett Sayers on bass, Ryan Jalbert on guitar, and Drew Sayers on keys and saxophone. The band members are excited as they prepare to embark on their highly anticipated 28-city tour, which will see jams and cuts from their 10th studio album All Day which was released in January of this year.

When bands successfully combine multiple genres to create a really original sound, it’s a real demonstration of their talent and commitment to their work. The Motet are one of the bands whose crossover music I enjoy the most, with their funk, afrobeat, jazz, and rock music coming together into a really exciting and organic genre. After having listened to their music for several years, I began hearing from various places that they’re well known for their energetic live shows with their awesome energy and live performance abilities, so I was desperate to check them out. Understandably, I had high hopes, and I can say that I wasn’t at all disappointed.

They sound almost identical live as they do on the recordings which was awesome, as they use analogue recording equipment to maintain the live sound, and when they opened the show with Dig Deep, everyone was singing along straight away. Jams Ingber was shouting out to everyone in the crowd to sing along, and they won the audience over straight away. It’s remarkable how they maintain their performance standards with the amount of dancing they do around the stage, but every note was spot on. The merge of instruments such as the saxophone, and electric guitar worked wonderfully, and it really was a great show.

Well, for those of you who didn't see last nights show at the Bearsville Theatre - you missed an amazing show!!! These guys are crazy talented musicians. If you were not familiar with this band, you should have looked them up because if you had, you would have been there too!!

I couldn't wait to see them live. Been listening to them for over a year now and wish I'd known about them sooner!! The lead singer has a great voice and some funky cool dance moves. He really engages the audience. I didn't stop dancing the entire night!

They played all my favorite songs!!! Thanks guys! I felt you put the show on just for me!

A rhythm that makes your soul wanna dance. Voices singing to wake the gods, and grooves so alive even your parents would move. 100 percent best money spent in years.

Description

Formed over two decades ago, the funk six-piece The Motet have learned to work as an interlocking unit, with each member bolstering one another towards the best creative output. This symbiosis has led to a unique style and cohesive musical chemistry, as seen in the band's immaculate live performances and seamless blend of funk, soul, jazz, and rock. With a fervent fanbase in tow, The Motet have sold out shows across the nation, performed six headlining slots at Red Rocks and sets at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Bottlerock, Electric Forest, Bumbershoot, Summer Camp, and High Sierra.

But even after their 20+ years of accolades and recognition, the legendary outfit -composed of Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keys), Garrett Sayers (bass), Drew Sayers (keys and saxophone), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), and new singer Sarah Clarke-are still exploring new sonic ideas and finding new ways to showcase each other’s skill sets.

The band released their 10th studio album, All Day, in January 2023-an eclectic instrumental voyage threaded by the infectious grooves and immaculate, layered arrangements that The Motet have become known for.

Now with vocal powerhouse Sarah Clarkein tow, the band continues their journey with their new song “Natural Light” and the promise of more to come.

SuperBubble

SuperBubble is an ever-expanding funk collective out of Salt Lake City, Utah. With their lyrical and experimental style, fat driving beats and solid grooves, they turn a room into an unapologetically funky dance party. Formed in 2016, they became a quick favorite within the festival circuit and a staple of the local music scene. In May of 2017 SuperBubble released their first self-titled EP, which received positive and enthusiastic reviews. S.L.U.G Magazine wrote, “SuperBubble are one of the biggest surprises I have encountered this year, with one of the most solid debuts I’ve heard out of the Salt Lake scene. This album is a fleshed funk fest of jam, jive and jazz, with a couple of the strongest instrumental tracks I’ve heard for years.” In 2018, they embarked on their first tour of Europe, playing shows all over the Netherlands and France while on their way to the ÉCU Film Festival in Paris. They kicked off 2019 by performing a New Years Eve Bash with Orgōne, and later releasing their debut full-length album “Space Bound” in March. With building momentum and a loyal growing fan base, look out for SuperBubble popping off at a party near you.

The Top Individual Defensive Performances from Louisville Football in 2023

Matthew mcgavic | 4 hours ago.

Louisville's Ashton Gillotte sacks Boston College's Thomas Castellanos Saturday afternoon in L&N Stadium.

  • Louisville Cardinals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - To the surprise of some given Jeff Brohm's acumen as an offensive playcaller, his first year as the head coach of the Louisville football program was marked by a strong defense. The Cardinals finished their 2023 season allowing only 317.1 yards and 21.3 points per game, which ranked 21st and 35th in the FBS, respectively.

With a defense as strong as Louisville's last season, as you can imagine, they had plenty of standout defensive outings last season. Here are the top five individual defensive performances by Cardinals from the 2023 season:

No. 5: Ashton Gillotte vs. Boston College

Gillotte only had three tackles against Boston College, but he certainly got his bang for his buck in the process. Those three tackles by the All-American edge rusher were all sacks, and Gillotte became the first Cardinal with a three-sack day since James Hearns did so in 2016 vs. Virginia.

No. 4: Cam'Ron Kelly vs. Indiana

Whether it was against the run or in pass coverage, Kelly made plays all over the field against Indiana. He finishes with 12 tackles, tied for the most all season by a Cardinal, with two of them coming for a loss. He also snagged a first half interception, helping Louisville eventually secure a 21-14 win at Lucas Oil Stadium.

No. 3: Mason Reiger vs. Notre Dame

With the Notre Dame offensive line paying a large chunk of their attention to Gillotte, Reiger took full advantage. The defensive collected two tackles for loss that were sacks, one of which came against All-American offensive tackle Joe Alt, as well as a fourth quarter forced fumble. He also finished with four tackles on the night.

No. 2: Cam'Ron Kelly vs. NC State

In the defensive slugfest that was Louisville vs. NC State, Kelly had the best performance by a Cardinal that night. With Louisville trailing 10-0 at halftime, he proceeded to generate two second half turnovers - an interception and a fumble - with the latter setting up the game-tying score. He also logged six tackles (one solo) on the night, with the Cardinals eventually winning 13-10 in Raleigh.

No. 1: Devin Neal vs. Notre Dame

Louisville got plenty of standout performances in their upset win over No. 10 Notre Dame, and Neal helped play a massive role in securing the 33-20 victory. The safety snagged two interceptions against the Fighting Irish, as well as a pass breakup to help force a turnover on downs - all of which came in the fourth quarter of the tightly contested game. He also collected eight tackles (two solo) on the night.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Just Went Instagram Official in the Most Epic Way After 1st Night of Her London Eras Tour

The couple posed for an Instagram photo with some royal friends on Saturday, June 22

Amy Sussman/Getty; JC Olivera/Getty; Chris Jackson/Getty

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are finally Instagram official!

On Saturday, June 22, Swift, 34, posted an epic selfie that featured herself, Kelce, Prince William ,  Prince George  and  Princess Charlotte backstage at her first London Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium on June 21 — marking the very first time her boyfriend, also 34, has graced her social media.

"Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝 @princeandprincessofwales," the pop superstar wrote alongside the photo, nodding to the Prince of Wales' 42nd birthday, which he celebrated on June 21 .

The  “Shake It Off” singer  and Kansas City Chiefs football player have been in a relationship since last year, however, Swift has not featured her boyfriend in any posts on her Instagram or X accounts until now.

Taylor Swift/Instagram

The superstar couple first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 after  Swift attended several of Kelce's games . Since then, they have supported each other at many public events, with the tight end attending his girlfriend's Eras Tour shows everywhere from Australia and Paris to Singapore and London and Swift making regular appearances at Kelce's games, including supporting him when he and his team won the 2024 Super Bowl in February.

But the selfie that gave Kelce a spot on Swift's grid wasn't the only one the singer posed for with the royal trio, as another photograph shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account showed Swift standing in front of Prince William and his two children as she held a phone up to snap a photo while sporting a wide smile.

"Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour," the post's caption read.

Meanwhile, Kelce was spotted enjoying Swift's Friday concert in a number of cute moments captured on social media on June 21.

At one point during the night, the athlete was spotted singing along to Swift’s performance of “Lover” in  footage posted on X  (formerly Twitter). A smiling Kelce pointed at Swift on stage and then back to himself as his girlfriend sang the lyrics, “Oh you're my, my, my, my...”

Kelce then sang along, danced and even threw a wave at the crowd as Swift continued to sing the remaining lyrics of the final verse of the song (Oh, you're my, my, my, my/Darling, you're my, my, my, my/Lover).

Elsewhere, the singer gave a sweet nod to her boyfriend during her performance of  “So High School” . At one point in the song, she  surprised the crowd by pulling off a move  that Kelce has been known to employ during Kansas City Chiefs games:  using an invisible bow to release an arrow .

The tight end's  smiling  response to the gesture was even captured in a photo by a fan and shared on social media. Meanwhile, another video shared by a fan in the audience showed  Kelce dancing along as his girlfriend sang the lyrics, "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle," believed to be a nod to their respective talents.

Earlier in the evening, the Kansas City Chiefs player was spotted in a snap shared on X greeting Scott Swift, shaking the hand of his girlfriend's father as he made his way into the VIP section at the show. It was a family affair for Taylor at her first London show, as her mom, Andrea Swift, was also spotted  in the reserved section.

Other celebrity attendees at the show included Kelce's brother Jason Kelce and his wife  Kylie Kelce , as well as Jonathan Van Ness , Nicola Coughlan ,  Salma Hayek ,  Leslie Mann ,  Cara Delevingne , Camilla Whitehill-Mathieson, and Van Ness’ husband  Mark Peacock .

Swift will play two more shows in London over the weekend, before her Eras Tour stop in Ireland the following weekend. Continuing the European leg of her tour, she is set to return to Wembley Stadium on Aug. 15 to perform five more shows.

Taylor Swift may be famous for evolving her personal style to suit each of her musical eras , but Roberto Cavalli’s been a constant in her sartorial storytelling since the start.

So it’s no surprise that when it came time to create the costumes for her blockbuster Eras Tour , Swift turned to the brand’s creative director, Fausto Puglisi, to put a fresh spin on some of her most iconic looks — like the gold fringed Cavalli minidress from her 2011 “Speak Now” tour, which inspired the similarly swingy style she wears for the “Fearless” section of the show.

“When Joseph [Cassell Falconer, Swift’s stylist] and Taylor started talking about the fringe [look], we went back to the archives. It was a very 2000s moment, but I proposed something a little lighter,” Puglisi tells Page Six Style, adding that there’s far more to this metallic mini than meets the eye.

Taylor Swift "Speak Now" tour

“Every single fringe is made of very, very small beads connected to each other. It’s a work of couture and a work of craftsmanship. Taylor deserves the best!”

In order to “understand the best place to fix every single fringe,” the Sicilian designer worked off a mannequin with Swift’s exact measurements, arranging the strands in a playful zigzag pattern for maximum movement.

“It’s extremely fresh, extremely cool, extremely young and modern, but at the same time, a work of art that’s so intricate and so precise,” he says of the final look, which incorporates three different shades of gold for extra dimension. “It’s a lot of work, but she deserves this and more.”

While the “Fearless” dress (and its several variations) has been a constant since the tour’s April 2023 kickoff, Puglisi’s also peppered in new looks to keep fans on their toes; most recently, by replacing the fringed, geometric-patterned tops and skirts Swift wore for the “1989” portion of her North American shows with a series of colorful, crystal-embellished ombré sets for the tour’s European leg.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

“I said, ‘Let’s go back to her roots.’ It’s about youth,” Puglisi says of the flirty, flared skater skirts and strappy bustiers. “The inspiration was Taylor herself.”

And while the designer whipped up the same top-and-skirt combo in “20-something” colors — “and there’s more coming,” he teases — it was Swift’s idea to mix and match them “like she mixes [musical] notes.”

“I designed [them] thinking about mixing orange with orange, turquoise with turquoise, purple with purple,” he explains. “But when we met in Paris, Joseph said, ‘She likes to mix [them] together!’ I start screaming from happiness, because I’m obsessed with color-blocking; it’s so ‘Miami Vice’ and it’s so colorful and it’s so fresh. There is this sense of freedom in mixing these colors.”

As for whether the big cat emblem adorning each of the tops is an Easter egg, as some fans have theorized ? They’re not entirely off; while it’s a brand signifier, it also nods to Swift’s well-documented fondness for felines.

“Wildcats are part of the DNA of Cavalli, so I said, ‘Why don’t we put the brooch here?’ And she loved it,” Puglisi says. “She loves cats, I love cats!”

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

The designer looked to a different animal for inspiration when dreaming up the perfect look for the “Reputation” portion of Swift’s show: the snake.

“When Joseph explained to me [that she’s] the queen of snakes, I thought that was a fantastic idea. And at the end of the day, it became so iconic,” Puglisi says of his asymmetrical catsuit adorned with sparkly intertwined serpents.

Fans have noticed that while Swift alternates between a few different looks for the other “eras” of her show, we’ve only seen one “Reputation” costume — and that, coincidentally, the superstar has yet to reveal the release date for her re-recorded version of that album. With an announcement looming, could new catsuits be in the works?

“You will never know,” Puglisi says with a laugh. “She loves to surprise people!”

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

Some Swifties have even joked about her “Reputation” look “shedding” like an actual snake — and Puglisi acknowledges that when outfits designed with delicate embellishments are being worn for hours-long performances night after night, wear and tear is par for the course.

“We have dictates, of course; the zipper must be one way, we have to be careful with crystal [placement]. There are so many secrets,” he says, adding that Swift’s stylist is “fantastic” at ensuring any snags or missing sequins are fixed in between shows.

“Joseph is the real genius behind the scenes. People like Joseph, they have the vision, and they know how to handle these dramas.”

And while he calls the experience of designing her Eras Tour outfits a “dream,” Puglisi points to the “Midnights”-coded navy crop top and maxi skirt the musician wore the the 2023 Grammys as his personal favorite Swift-related project.

“It really looks like a midnight sky,” he says. “So chic, but very strong. And that’s what she is!”

Taylor Swift Grammys 2023

While Swift’s been a “Cavalli girl” for well over a decade — even sitting front row at one of the brand’s Milan runway shows in 2010 — her relationship with Puglisi dates back to before he joined the company in 2020.

“Before I started designing Roberto Cavalli, I had my own line, and she supported my collection since the beginning,” he notes of the star, who wore a look from his namesake label in her 2017 music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.”

“So many [fashion] houses want to dress Taylor because she’s the No. 1. I dress Taylor because I love Taylor.”

Travis, Jason and Kylie Kelce attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in London

the motet tour 2023

Swift fever has touched down on the British capital as Taylor Swift was set to perform her first sold-out night in London's Wembley Stadium ushering in new opening acts with Travis, Jason and Kylie Kelce cheering from the floor.

Travis Kelce was seen walking to the VIP floor tent during Paramore's "Misery Business" with Kelce's brother, sister-in-law and best friend Ross Travis. The Kelces were in Cannes, France the day before the concert for the Cannes Lions Festival. Fans snapped photos and videos of Jason exchanging friendship bracelets with Swifties. Also spotted on the floor, Swift's parents Scott and Andrea Swift , Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan , Queer Eye host Jonathan van Ness and actress Cara Delevingne.

Online, social media accounts have confused Ross Travis and Travis Kelce. Travis was wearing a green shirt and Cowboy hat.

Kelce has attended the tour a half dozen times since the couple went public last year. His first stop was Buenos Aires, Argentina , followed by Sydney, Australia,  two nights in Singapore and the final night in Paris. Swift has changed the “Karma” lyrics to "guy on the Chiefs" every time Kelce has cheered her on from the sidelines. She also attended 13 NFL games in the 2023-2024 season culminating in the Super Bowl.

The Kansas City football player was in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday for his three-day event Tight End University . Before heading to Europe he hosted a the program that brings tight ends together for film study, on-field drills, recovery and rehabilitation.

Introducing Mette to the Swift universe

Mette opened up for night one in Wembley taking the stage before Paramore, the opening act for all 51 Eras Tour shows in Europe. Mette describes her musical repertoire as "sensual and sweaty." Prior to the Eras Tour she played Cassandra alongside Swift in the 2019 movie "Cats."

"This is such a special night y'all," Mette said performing an eight-song set. "Thank you, Taylor."

London transforms into Swiftmania

The City of Dreams has prepared for the three nights of Swift. She's sang about the city in several of her songs including "London Boy," "So Long London" and "The Black Dog." She has a history with the city after dating ex Joe Alwyn for six-plus years, frequently visiting Camden Market, Highgate, the West End, Brixton, Shoreditch and Hackney.

Murals appeared around the city the week leading up to Swift's show. Hours before the show, the Tube, or London subway system, created a map decked out in the singer's 11 eras, recoloring the lines to correspond to different albums and renaming stops after songs like "All Too Well" and "I Knew You Were Trouble." Gemstones were added to reflect popular landmarks like the Hampstead Heath or Wembley Stadium.

Swift has two more performances at Wembley Stadium before heading to Dublin. On Saturday, Griff will open for the singer before Paramore and on Sunday, Benson Boone will be the first act to take the stage.

To Do Today: Tour Fenway Park

A unique behind-the-scenes peek into nation’s oldest ballpark.

A photo of the facade of Fenway Park

During a one-hour guided tour of Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox since 1912, visitors get to explore the ballpark, learn about some of the team’s most famous players, and view some of the hundreds of thousands of photos and memorabilia in the team’s archive. Fenway Park Tours .

Tours are held daily on the hour, from 9 am to 5 pm on non-game days, and from 9 am until three hours before the start of a home game when the Red Sox are in town.

19 Jersey St., Boston.

$25 for adults, $17 for children 12 and under. Purchase tickets online here .

Why should I go?

Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox, is the nation’s oldest major league ballpark. Dedicated fans who show up routinely for games get to see only a bit of what’s been billed as “America’s most beloved ballpark.” But the daily one-hour guided tours give fans a fascinating overview of the history of Fenway and the team that has called it home since 1912, when what was once marshland was transformed into a baseball stadium.

Visitors will learn what makes Fenway unique—like the fact that it boasts baseball’s oldest manual scoreboard—and can view the lone red seat in section 42 of the right field bleachers commemorating Ted Williams’ 502-foot home run in 1946.

You’ll also get to decide for yourself which section of the ballpark offers the best views. Take a rest in the grand slam seats, or in the park’s famous Green Monster seats, located just above the highest wall in baseball, at 37 feet, 2 inches.

Guests also get an exclusive walk-through of the ballpark’s press box, and a chance to view some of the stadium’s collection of more than 170,000 stadium artifacts and 150,000 photographs. Tour guides will recount highlights of the Red Sox’s 1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018 World Series wins.

It’s the perfect way to celebrate an iconic Boston landmark while learning more about some of baseball’s greatest legends.

My Boston course, AN 309, takes us through Fenway and makes us fans of the park even more than fans of the Sox. Spring 2023!

My husband and did the Fenway Park tour in April and it was outstanding. Our tour guide was funny, engaging of her audience and extremely knowledgeable of everything from basic history to amazing trivia. It lasted close to 2 1/2 hours, though it was only supposed to be an hour or so. Highly recommend!

As a kid I lived on a farm that had an ancient outhouse. It was about as comfortable as Fenway Park.

Swifties in Liverpool were treated to the ultimate deep cut from Taylor Swift ‘s discography — Calvin Harris ‘ global smash with Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For,” a song Swift co-wrote — as the surprise song for the “Eras Tour” show on Friday night.

For her second night in Liverpool, Swift performed the EDM single, weaving it into an acoustic medley that also included her song “Gold Rush,” and a piano cover of “The Great War,” and vault track, “You’re Losing Me.”

Swift previously delivered a live rendition of “This Is What You Came For” as the headliner for 2016’s Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Swift recently completed over 100 concerts as part of her massive “Eras Tour” run since it began in Arizona in March 2023. She’s since put out an all-new 31-song album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which continues to break records on music charts globally. Despite rumors that the “Eras Tour” would continue through next year, Swift recently affirmed that her trek will come to a close with final dates in North America in December of this year.
