Pakuba lodge has its own individual style and charm, offering experiences that make it completely unique from any other property. We pride ourselves with high quality management and professional service, attention to detail, delicious culinary creations, prime location and offering first class activities. We pride ourselves in our flair, style and creativity and place special emphasis on our guest’s comfort. Our 46 spacious rooms are built on an elevated ground, with a balcony and sliding large windows to provide superb views of the river.

All our guest rooms are en-suite bathrooms with running cold and hot water as well as a flush toilet. Beds are king size and fine linen has been carefully selected to ensure total comfort. Our aim is to provide our guests with the pleasure of being pampered in a home environment. Our lodge chefs use fresh ingredients to prepare high quality meals and even home-baked bread. The chefs aim to produce healthy, balanced and enticing menus, and are happy to cater to your individual requirements.

“Great lodge inside the NP! The rooms were nice and spacious, and the bathrooms were clean, but the water for the shower only got lukewarm. The food was excellent. The staff is amazing! WiFi is limited to the reception and is sufficient enough for texting. The porch area has comfortable seating overlooking the Nile. There is a pool on site. A large group of waterbuck decided to sleep in front of my room every night. It was amazing to watch them close up. Pumas are also roaming the premises. Highly recommend this lodge!”

Like our other amazing attractions , the safari allows you and your family to see first-hand the various animals native to those lands and learn about their natural habitats. Self Drive-Thru Safari Available Only in April and November

Guests who wish to enjoy our safari tour from the comfort of their vehicles can do so with our self drive-thru option. VEHICLES WITH HARD DOORS AND HARD TOP ROOFS ONLY. Those interested in this experience should first read the Self Drive-Thru Rules to ensure their safety and the wellbeing of our animals. You will be required to sign a vehicle waiver prior to entering the safari fields.   

SELF DRIVE-THRU RULES AND INFORMATION PER USDA:

All vehicles MUST have hard tops and doors. Sunroofs and trunks must be closed-USDA requirement (Mesh doors on jeeps are not permitted).

Strict 5 mph speed limit (USDA requirement for animal safety).

You MUST remain in your vehicle during the entirety of the tour.

Pets are not permitted in vehicles.

No riding in the bed of pickup trucks.

No motorcycles, motor homes, buses, or trailers are permitted.

Touching animals is not encouraged.

Feeding animals is prohibited.

LOUD NOISES --honking horns, music and yelling--are not permitted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The drive-thru trail is an unpaved dirt trail with loose stones, possible animal dung, and occasional mud puddles.

Some animals may not be visible on every drive-thru.

No refunds will be given for any reason after entering the safari fields.

ZOO EXHIBITS ARE NOT AVAILABLE  during the weekends of the self drive-thru.

Admission for the self drive-thru will be $9/person ages 3 through adult.

The Self Drive-Thru Safari pre-season/post-season option is available on select weekends only in April and November

from 10:00 a.m.  to 3:00 p.m.  

Please note: Only the Safari Tour Fields are open for the Self Drive-Thru option. Zoo exhibits are open during our regular season May 1st through October .

Say Hello to Our Animals

One of the best parts about our safari zoo in Pennsylvania is all the different animals you may see. More than 500 animals roam the safari fields freely at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. You may meet curious critters that are just as interested in you as you are in them — it is common for animals to approach the tour bus and get close enough for guests to reach out and touch them. Interacting with these animals is sure to be an unforgettable and highly beneficial experience for your party.

Our New Safari Station

Dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible experience, we are happy to introduce our safari station. Built and launched in 2015, the safari station includes the following:

• A comfortable holding area large enough to fit guests as they wait for their turn to hop aboard the cruiser
• A snack shop where you can grab a drink, some food for the ride, and even feed to give the animals while on the tour
• Well-maintained restrooms for your convenience

Things to Keep in Mind for Your Next Safari Tour

To help guests get the most out of their animal safari in Pennsylvania, we encourage all to be mindful of when the tours begin. Rides go out right when the park opens, and guests are welcome to come early to avoid crowds or waiting in long lines. Our tours last around 45 minutes, providing plenty of time to take in the entire tour without tiring out the youngest in your group. The last tour departs our Safari Station one hour before closing.

Please be advised that we do not accept reservations for our tours as they are offered on a first come, first serve basis. However, even if you miss your preferred time, another is coming up shortly!

So glad i stayed at Serengeti Simba. It's a beautiful tented lodge, built on a kopje overlooking the vast plains of the Serengeti. It's just outside the main reserve but this is not a problem as the area is rich in wildlife and you get to spend the day in the Serengeti any way. It's also, I found out, located in the corridor of the migration so there's wildlife everywhere. Resident lion are never too far away and you can always hear them at night. I did, it was exhilarating but safe. There were guards placed everywhere in the grounds. The staff and food were so good, I just don't know how they produce such amazing meals in the middle of the bush. The tents are really great. they all have an outdoor shower - perfect for the bush! All have charging facilities and like the other 2 Simba camps they are run on solar power - very eco. For me the location is second to none. The views from the Kopje were amazing and the tents all face east. So, the sunrises were spectacular! I slept with my curtains open, there's a window front to the tent, like a patio door, which gives you amazing views day and night. Much better than canvas! I loved Serengeti Simba, the views, the staff, the food and the wildlife were amazing!

We had an 18 day safari and cultural experience. All of our other locations were for two nights. This was our final location and was for four nights. Can I have an Amen? This lodge was so good it was the icing on the cake. The food was excellent. We taught the chef how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! The service is top notch. They couldn't do enough for you. As rooms closer to the lodge became available they moved two of the elderly people in our group to make it easier for them. They didn't have to do that. Each "room" is an individual platform tent with doors that serve like picture windows. You have to see it to understand. There is a tub and an outdoor shower that was great. Lots of warm/hot water. The views, sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. The only inconvenience is that it is at least 30 minutes from the lodge to the entrance to the Serengeti. Luckily we usually saw something along the way.

In August we stayed for 3 nights in the Serengeti Simba Lodge and I loved every minute of it. Surrounded by the vast Serengeti wilderness these rooms partially tented with outdoor shower were of the highest quality. The food served was delicious and I really admired the that the tip given at the end of our stay was shared among the staff as they were all very helpful and polite. It was a unique experience and I highly recommend it.

Great views from all parts of the complex on a hill overlooking the plains of Africa worth the bumpy road up and down which is due to be repaired. (It probably has already been.). Clean, comfortable, large rooms (villas) well spaced apart and very helpful staff. The nighttime animal noises were marvelous; you felt a part of Africa and its inhabitants.

This lodge fascinated us with its fantastic interior and exterior design. The view from the hill was astounding. Especially at night! The deep darkness aloud us to gaze at the endless southern stars. The lodge itself was extra clean and ultra authentic. The staff was nice and Bill the manager was very friendly. Too bad our safari trip had only one night stay in this unbelievable place! Definitely worth its price!
