[7] [8] Additional accolades include being named the "Country Tour of the Year" in 1998 and 1999 by Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. The tour was announced by various media outlets in March 1998, when Twain's third album was certified five times platinum in the United States. The tour, named after the same album, was planned to begin in May 1998 in Sudbury (near Twain's hometown of Timmins ) and ending December 1998 in Phoenix, Arizona . [11] It became very popular, with many dates selling out within hours of the announcement. Most notably, the concerts at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan sold out in 29 minutes, a feat previously conquered by Metallica and The Who . [12] The response led Twain to add additional dates in North America along with dates in Australia and the United Kingdom.

To introduce the tour, Twain narrated: [13]

It's going to be a big party that I happen to be hosting. Pretty high energy for most of the time. I ['ll] get out on tour, I’ll be able to do a full show of original songs that people will be familiar with. It's going to be ideal, almost like I couldn’t have planned it better, even though I didn’t really plan it at all. I am glad I waited, and I’m going to give it all I’ve got to make it everything the fans have been waiting for.

By 1998, Twain was an established country music sensation, selling over ten million albums, with her latest album selling over five million in the United States. Rumors began circulating within the media concerning Twain's vocal ability. Many critics saw Twain as a "studio voice", doubting her ability to sing live. The success of Come On Over prompted Twain to tour. Twain dismissed rumors stating at that time, she would rather focus on producing her next album than touring. She responded, "You have a huge record, you do a huge tour, you come home exhausted and you somehow have to turn out another record, fast, that everyone will compare to the first one. It was a very good decision not to tour in '95 [...] If I had toured then, [the tour] this year would not have been nearly as exciting." [14] She further asserted she wanted to tour in 1995 but wanted the anticipation of a tour to build amongst her fan base. She further states she was very confident as a live performer, dismissing critics who felt Twain couldn't translate her success to the stage. Twain says she was proud to have her album, The Woman in Me , sell so well without a supporting tour. "It didn't make sense financially of course. I could have capitalized. But my intentions were to have a longer career than just that year."

Rehearsals began in May 1998 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York . Twain says she was shocked to hear of the success of the tour, believing she would only sellout floor seats in the arenas and amphitheaters where the concerts were performed. She would later comment on how comfortable she felt with touring compared to her early days of success as a nightclub performer in Ontario. Twain recalls traveling in busted vans, hauling her own equipment and the minimal wages she received during that time. However, she states she was very young and saw it as an opportunity to have fun. [15] To help promote the tour, Twain held radio contests in the markets where she would perform. The winner would appear on stage with Twain to perform her first single, " What Made You Say That ", with the band, while Twain performed the backing vocals. On March 18, 1999, at the Corel Centre in Ottawa, 14 year old Avril Lavigne performed on stage with Twain and was later signed to Arista Records the following year. [16] For a similar contest, Twain chose nine singers and four drummers from Shaker Heights High School to perform onstage with her at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio . [17]

On its premiere concert, Twain became emotional after performing " From This Moment On ". After composing herself, she told the audience about the death of her parents and explained how it motivated her to have the life she's able to live now. She continued her story stating the last performance her parents saw of her was when she opened for Bernadette Peters and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at the Roy Thomson Hall on February 8, 1987. [18] While on the road, Twain received additional recognition, earning two Grammy Awards , diamond certification on both The Woman in Me and Come On Over and she appeared on VH1 Divas alongside Celine Dion , Gloria Estefan , Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin . Furthermore, Twain participated in a benefit concert for Amnesty International in Paris, France at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy . She performed with Bruce Springsteen , Peter Gabriel , Alanis Morissette , and Radiohead . [19] To continue her philanthropy, Twain visited survivors of the Columbine High School massacre and donated the proceeds of her May 11, 1999 concert at Coors Amphitheatre to the high school. [7]

It featured Twain performing all of her hit songs from her first three albums. The show aired live on DirecTV for its customers at no additional cost. The footage was released the following year titled Live . The video was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments exceeding 100,000 units. In 1999, the concerts at the Bayfront Park Amphitheatre were filmed for a concert special airing on TNN . The special entitled Shania Twain: Winter Break gave the viewer a behind-the-scenes look of the tour and Twain's personal life. At the concerts, Twain was joined onstage by English recording artist Elton John , to perform "You're Still the One", " Something About the Way You Look Tonight " and "Amneris' Letter". On January 16, 1999, Twain was also joined by American boyband, the Backstreet Boys to perform their hit, " All I Have to Give " and Twain's " From This Moment On ". The special aired on August 30, 1999. [15]

After the release of her "Live" video, Twain filmed an additional concert special at the Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas . Named Come On Over , Twain performed in front of 40,000 spectators for the special, which aired on CBS on Thanksgiving night. [23] In 2001, both specials were released to DVD titled The Specials , showing highlights from both concerts. Twain's benefit concert in Paris The Paris Concert for Amnesty , filmed on December 10, 1998, [46] was highlighted on the DVD release titled The Paris Concert for Amnesty International . It featured only two performances, "Black Eyes, Blue Tears" and "You’re Still the One". The full concert aired on Viewers Choice in Canada.

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of "Come On Over Tour”, Twain premiered the live performance titled “Come On Over Tour   : Live In Dallas” on YouTube in September 12, 2023 and limited for 24 hours only.

Although the tour became a financial success, it received mixed feedback from music critics. John Young ( Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ) found the concert at the Coca-Cola Lakewood Amphitheater "too perfect". He writes: "There is nothing inherently wrong with big, loud pop music when its delivered with occasional country twinges. But Twain's music sounded almost too slick and perfectly packaged. Her hit 'You're Still the One,' lacked soul and fire, while most other tunes missing any distinguishing characteristics that made them Twain's own." [47] The performance at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena was called "electrifying" by Chris Wille ( The Spokesman-Review ) . He states: "The night's highlight? Practically every song. On 'Any Man [o]f Mine,' fans sang along. After '(If You're Not In It for Love) I'm Outta Here!' Twain disappeared through a giant drum, returning in yet another costume. She owned the crowd, and they loved every second of it". [48]

Shania Twain Polishes Off ‘Queen of Me’ Album Announcement With 2023 Tour Dates

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Shania Twain will release her sixth studio album Queen of M e on Feb. 3, her first full-length record in nearly six years. Alongside her Republic Nashville debut, the country icon will embark on a global arena tour spanning 49 dates, including stops at Nashville’s Geodis Park on June 7 and at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 11.

“This new record is fun and celebrative, really on the other side of Now ,” Twain told Rina Sawayama in a recent Rolling Stone Musicians on Musicians interview . “I’m happy in my own skin. I’m celebrating that feeling, less apologetic for who I am and what I’ve become. This is me, and I like myself.”

She added: “A lot of it was written during the pandemic. There’s nothing better for me than to not have enough to do, because the first thing I do is pick up my guitar and start songwriting. Now I’ve got four albums’ worth. I’m not kidding.”

The Queen of Me Tour marks Twain’s first proper trip on the road since the completion of her Las Vegas residency. The span of shows kicks off on Friday, April 28, at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington. Twain will appear in Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Denver, Los Angeles, Montreal, Kansas City, Dallas, London, Dublin, and more. The tour concludes Sept. 26 at England’s Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Shania Twain stands naked in front of mirror to get comfortable with aging: 'I want to know it's there'

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Shania Twain shared the way she's become comfortable with her aging body in a new interview.

Twain, 58, opened up about noticing changes on her body as she continues her decades-long career. The country music star is currently performing in Las Vegas at her Planet Hollywood residency, "Come On Over."

"I decided that wherever there was a mirror, and I was naked in my house or hotel, that I would keep the lights on, and I would look in the mirror," Twain told The Sun's Bizarre columnist Jack Hardwick .

"A lot of people as they start aging — and even young people — they don’t want to look at themselves in the mirror naked, and I think that is such a shame."

"Every month or day that I may notice another sag or another bit of cellulite, I want to know it’s there," she explained.

"I want to be OK with it instead of thinking, I have to cover it up or not to look," the musician added. "I can’t change it and I don’t plan on changing it superficially."

The "You're Still The One" singer previously revealed her pre-show routine: an all-liquid diet.

"If I eat any solids hours before the show, I’ll have to burp," Twain previously told People magazine. "It’s just a nightmare because you have to sing around the burp, and it's distracting in itself. So I usually don't eat any solids at all on show days until after the show, only liquids."

Twain also revealed she follows an intense exercise routine, much like an athlete.

"I am an athlete, I have to breathe, I have to project," she told The Sun. "I have to pace everything."

Twain hasn't always been confident about her body.

"I’ve been very shy about my body from a very young age… to the point where I would not go to the beach in a bathing suit," she previously told "Extra." "I would say probably really tortured by it from the age of 10."

The country music star spoke about landing her first hit song, "You're Still the One." She released the ballad in 1998 and noted that the music video was something different from her daily life at the time.

"I was 30 when I had my first radio hit. … In that video, I’m braless, I’m allowing the platform of stepping out of my daily self into this world of video-making and making decisions that give me this freedom to, like, do things I wouldn’t normally do in my daily life," Twain told Extra.

Taylor Swift will have lots of opportunities to watch her boyfriend play ball this NFL season.

On Wednesday, the 2024 NFL schedule release revealed the days and times Travis Kelce will take the field with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Swifties were quick to line up the singer's schedule to see which games she may attend.

Swift is currently on the European leg of her Eras Tour, but when the '24 NFL season begins this September, she'll be enjoying a two-month hiatus.

Luckily for fans, that means it's certainly possible Swift will travel to Kansas City on Thursday, Sept. 5 for the league's opening game of the season, which will see the Chiefs face off against the Baltimore Ravens.

She could likewise be on hand Sunday, Sept. 15 when the Chiefs are scheduled to play the Cincinnati Bengals at home.

Swift's tour will pick up again in October, with scheduled stops in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis likely precluding her from attending Kelce's games against the 49ers and Raiders.

She's busy the rest of the year as well, as she's set to play shows in Indianapolis and Toronto in November, before closing out the Eras Tour in December with concerts in Vancouver. That means Swift is unlikely to attend Kelce's game against the Chargers.

Swift has yet to announce her plans for 2025, so her appearance at Kelce's games may ramp up in the weeks leading up to Super Bowl LIX, which will be held Feb. 9.

It's not just Swift supporting Kelce's career -- it goes the other way too. Earlier this month, amid his offseason, Kelce attended the "So High School" singer's "electric" show in Paris.

Then, during his  New Heights  podcast, Kelce revealed that he has some big travel plans this summer, when Swift is set to play venues in Portugal, Spain, France, the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

"I'm gonna be dancing around, yeah. I'm all over the world this offseason," he said. "It's like the yin to my yang. Football, it keeps me locked in to Kansas City during the season and you know I just gotta fly around and have some fun in the offseason."

Indeed, a source recently told ET , "Travis couldn't wait to attend Taylor's European leg of her Eras tour. He was very excited to see Taylor in action yet again, and enjoys watching her perform and singing along."

"He’s a very supportive partner, as is she," the source added. "The two are making it a point to celebrate each other's achievements, and show up when it matters most."

Swift and Kelce's busy schedules can be viewed in full below.

Steven Tyler Joins the Black Crowes Onstage in London Months After Fracturing Larynx

The Aerosmith frontman fractured his larynx in September 2023, forcing his band to reschedule dates for the remainder of their Peace Out farewell tour

shania twain 1998 tour dates

  • On Wednesday, May 15, Steven Tyler performed onstage with the Black Crowes for the first time since recovering from fracturing his larynx in September 2023
  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's injury forced his band, Aerosmith, to postpone dates for their Peace Out farewell tour
  • The tour is set to resume in September with a new set of dates

Steven Tyler is on the mend and back to performing after fracturing his larynx last year.

The Aerosmith frontman, 76, joined the legendary rock band the Black Crowes onstage for a surprise performance at London’s Eventim Apollo on Wednesday, May 15, his first since sustaining a vocal cord injury that forced his band to pause their Peace Out farewell tour in 2023.

“If it is alright with y’all, we wanna play one more song,” Crowes frontman Chris Robinson said while introducing Tyler, per SPIN . “We wanna dedicate it to somebody who is a dear friend and a hero and a legend, Mr. Steven Tyler. We will be touring with Aerosmith soon, so we wanna play one of his songs.”

Tyler and the band then closed out the show by tearing into a cover of the 1973 Aerosmith classic, “Mama Kin.” The former looked rather lively as he performed, seemingly back in good health and ready to hit the road again following months of recovery.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also posed for a photo with the Black Crowes, plus Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, where he was all smiles. “Rock Royalty Reigned last night at the #HappinessBastardsTour at the @eventimapollo in London. @iamstevent @jimmypage @aerosmith @ledzeppelin,” the band captioned an Instagram post .

Ross Halfin

Back in February, Tyler shared an update on his vocal injury while hosting his fifth annual Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party — which benefits his non-profit Janie's Fund, created to help girls who have experienced abuse and neglect.

"My throat's been better, but it is on the mend," he told attendees. "And out of all things, I've decided to take the advice not from my doctors, but from the girls at Janie's house."

In May 2023, Aerosmith confirmed rumors of a farewell tour by announcing Peace Out , an originally scheduled, 40-city North American concert run celebrating their monumental career.

"After 50 years, 10 world tours and playing for over 100 million fans, it's time for one last go," a release said of the news. Bandmates Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford added in a joint statement, "It's not goodbye it's PEACE OUT!”

The announcement continued, “Get ready and walk this way, you're going to get the best show of our lives."

Tommaso Boddi/Getty

By mid-September 2023, a few weeks after Aerosmith’s tour kicked off in Philadelphia , the Rock in a Hard Place band revealed that Tyler had received doctor’s orders “not to sing for the next 30 days,” which forced them to postpone a handful of scheduled shows that month in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Cleveland to 2024.

In a since-deleted Instagram statement posted at the beginning of the month, Tyler shared, “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

But things only got worse for the "Angel" artist from there, as it was later revealed that he’d fractured his larynx , forcing Aerosmith to pause their farewell tour altogether.

“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the “Sweet Emotion” rockers wrote in a statement on social media later that month. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”

They continued, “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential."

Tyler closed out the announcement by telling fans, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Shows for the Peace Out tour have since been rescheduled. In April, Aerosmith announced a new set of dates that will resume later this year and run until January 2025.

Tyler’s vocal cord injury comes after he entered a treatment program amid a relapse in May 2022 after undergoing foot surgery to prepare for his band’s Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas residency . The “Dream On” singer’s health issues affected that slate of shows as well, as the band was forced to cancel shows that December.

In a statement, Tyler updated fans on his health and said, "On the advice of my doctor, I'm taking more time to rest. There is nowhere we'd rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world."

'American Idol' Judge Luke Bryan Announces Farm Tour 2024 Dates

Two new farms have made the cut!

preview for Luke Bryan | Vs. The Internet

Luke Bryan fans, it’s that time again!

“Time to get your boots and those farmer’s tans ready y’all,” he captioned a post announcing the Farm Tour 2024 dates: September 21, 26, 27, and 28.

This year’s Farm Tour is taking Luke and his crew—as well as special musical guests Conner Smith and Tucker Wetmore—to two brand-new stops: Huggins Store in Marshville, North Carolina, and Cunningham Family Farm in Smithton, Pennsylvania, as well as to Mulberry Orchard in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Miller Family Farm in Millersport, Ohio. Two more tour dates will be announced soon.

Per usual, Luke's fans are stoked to have fun in a field this fall. "You’re finally bringing the farm tour to NC!!!! Yay," one fan commented on his post. "We will be ready for you!!🤠❤️ Can’t wait," someone else exclaimed. "I live in Marshville, this is going to be an epic day. Randy Travis Music Festival and Luke Bryan on the same day," someone else marveled.

Back in 2023, Luke, the son of a peanut farmer, shed a little light on the reason behind his Farm Tours.

“One of the reasons we created these Farm Tour shows—to bring the big-city tour to the people," he revealed in a statement. "These nights are one-of-a-kind, and we really enjoy getting to know the farmers and their families, love the whole atmosphere of playing on these incredible farms and watching entire communities come together and get excited about these shows."

It’s not solely about the music, though. Luke donates college scholarships to farming family students enrolled in the town’s local college or university on each Farm Tour stop. Since the tour’s inception in 2009, he has awarded 83 college scholarships to students with a connection to the tour stops.

But that’s not all. Luke also urges his fans to flock to social media to share #HeresToTheFarmer. For each mention, Bayer (the Farm Tour partner since 2015) donates a meal to someone in need via Feeding America. Since they began working together, Luke and Bayer have donated over 8 million meals. (Psst: You can get in on the giveback fun by sharing on your socials now through October 31.)

Now the only question is: Which farm will you be visiting this fall?
