Zac Brown Band Announces Extensive 2022 With Robert Randolph Band

Popular country-rock outfit Zac Brown Band will head out on an extensive tour this summer featuring support from Robert Randolph Band on most dates, the group announced on Friday.

The  Out In The Middle Tour will take Zac Brown Band around the country throughout much of 2022 with stops at an assortment of arenas, amphitheaters, and Major League ballparks. Notable dates on the tour’s schedule include shows at Saratoga Springs, NY’s Saratoga Performing Arts Center (6/2); Atlanta, GA’s  Truist Field (6/17); Chicago, IL’s  Wrigley Field  (7/9); Boston, MA’s  Fenway Park  (7/15); Hershey, PA’s Hersheypark Stadium  (8/14); Birmingham, AL’s  Oak Mountain Amphitheatre (9/25); Seattle, WA’s  Climate Pledge Arena (10/20); Los Angeles, CA’s  Hollywood Bowl  (11/4); and Phoenix, AZ’s  Chase Field  (11/19).

Bandleader  Zac Brown has experienced his fair share of pandemic obstacles—he had to cancel shows after catching COVID-19 on two separate occasions in 2021—but will keep his foot on the gas in 2022.

“Performing in front of millions of fans around the world is one of the most electrifying and humbling feelings,” Brown said in a statement. “It’s been such an incredible year for the band, debuting some of the best music we’ve ever made, and we are thrilled to continue playing live for our amazing fans.”

Zac Brown Band Announces 2022 International “Out In The Middle Tour”

Today, multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning Zac Brown Band announced their upcoming 2022 international tour, “Out in the Middle Tour.”

The new set of dates, produced by Live Nation, follows 2021’s incredibly successful “The Comeback Tour,” where the band staged  their  comeback to live performances following a COVID-19 hiatus. The “Out in the Middle Tour” will see the band return to some of the nation’s most iconic venues, including Boston’s Fenway Park, where Zac Brown Band currently holds the record for most consecutive sold-out shows. Kicking off in Greenville, SC on April 22nd, the multi-city trek will include performances in lead singer Zac Brown’s native Atlanta at Truist Park, the famed Wrigley Field in Chicago, and the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The “Out in the Middle Tour” will showcase the band’s old-school country roots and southern-rock style, serving as an ode to their country pride and life’s simple pleasures. Joining the band once again will be Caroline Jones, who performed as a special guest during “The Comeback Tour.” Zac Brown Band also welcomes Robert Randolph Band as the opening act on select dates throughout the tour.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE ZAC BROWN BAND CONCERT

THE ROBERT RANDOLPH BAND will begin at 7:00 pm and ZAC BROWN BAND will close the show

The entrance for General Admission Pit ticket holders will be located at the Admin Gate directly to the right of the Box Office.

Patrons will be allowed to bring in up to four 33.8 fl oz factory sealed bottles of water. Squeezable, soft plastic water bottles that are empty will also be allowed (please note that non-squeezable plastic water bottles will not be allowed). In addition, there will be free ICON Water Refill Stations on site, as well as multiple Carrier Misting Stations.

If you have Mobile ticket(s), make sure to download your ticket(s) prior to arriving at the venue. To download your mobile ticket(s) to your phone, go to "My Events" in the Ticketmaster App and select "Add To Wallet" (on iPhone) or "Save To Phone" (on Android).

Due to anticipated crowds, traffic to the parking areas could become congested. Those attending the Zac Brown Band concert should plan on getting to Riverbend as early as possible. Carpooling is highly recommended.

There are two exits on I-275 that connect to Riverbend Music Center: Exit 71 (New Richmond) and Exit 72 (Kellogg Avenue). If traffic is backed up at one of these exits, please continue to the next exit.

Galactic Drop Guests for Blue Note Residency: Robert Randolph, Matisyahu, James Carter and More

Following Galactic’s announcement that they would participate in a five-night residency at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club on Jan. 25 through 29, the Big Easy funk ensemble has announced the list of added artists that will join them during their upcoming stand. 

For the first night on stage at the acclaimed Big Apple venue, jazz musician James Carter, will join Galactic. After the first night, the band will return to the stage on Jan. 26 and 27, where they will welcome Robert Randolph. 

In continuation of their impending residency, Galactic will bring out Matisyahu on Jan. 28. The final show will land on Jan. 29, including assistance from American trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Payton.

Arizona Diamondbacks Events & Entertainment (ADEE) have just announced two exciting special guests to the lineup. They include multi-platinum-selling, award-winning hitmaker Sam Hunt and GRAMMY Award-nominated American gospel band, Robert Randolph Band .

The “Out in the Middle Tour” will showcase Zac Brown Band’s old-school country roots and southern-rock style, serving as an ode to their country pride and life’s simple pleasures. Zac Brown Band is one of the most successful and consistent touring acts of the last decade and regularly claims a top spot in Pollstar’s Top 10 Global Concert Tour list. Sam Hunt , released his sophomore album SOUTHSIDE as the follow-up to his GRAMMY-nominated, triple-platinum-selling debut album, MONTEVALLO, which produced four No. 1 singles. Called “stylistically provocative” and “deceptively phenomenal,” Hunt has accumulated over 10.8 billion global streams and has earned 39 million RIAA certified units. Hunt’s latest release “23” is currently Top 10 and climbing on the country radio charts.

Robert Randolph Band , led by renowned pedal steel guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, Robert Randolph, whose label debut for Sony Masterworks, Got Soul -- is today an inspiration to the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Derek Trucks, all of whom have played with him.

Caroline Jones , singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist released her sophomore studio album Antipodes in November 2021. The talented independent artist has been lauded by Rolling Stone as “an ambitious, entrepreneurial guitar heroine primed to bring back the pop-country glory of the Nineties” and toured with such acts as Jimmy Buffett & the Eagles, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Sara Evans and Lee Brice. The pedal steel isn’t an instrument that you see very much of in this day and age, but Robert Randolph’s talented performances on the instrument blow me away every time. Robert Randolph and the Family Band absolutely rocked the live show I saw them play. Each and every member of the band is incredibly talented, and their fusion of instruments creates an original soul funk sound that simply begs to be danced to.

As well as being greatly skilled instrumentalists, the band are incredible performers. Watching Robert sit behind his pedal steel and jam along bobbing his head to the funky music is a great way or energising the audience, because when you see them loving it, you can’t help but let that enthusiasm be contagious.

They opened the show with Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That, from their album Colorblind which brought the house down from the moment the drummer counted the band in. The instrumental solos were solid and energised, with glowing faces of enjoyment from the band and audience alike. They then played through the majority of Lickety Split, which was absolutely epic. I don’t think I stopped dancing once! The calibre of talent was so high, I’ll 100% be seeing them live again.

The performance was amazing! In our Florida Theater security strongly enforces people staying in their seats. But the music was so good people couldnt help but dance to it. Security tried to move a few people from dancing in front of the stage and Robert told them to back off and they did! During the encore with everyone on their feet and dancing in the aisles a guy got up on stage and started dancing. Security tried motioning to get down and Robert told them to let go! Talk about getting the audience involved in the show! During the last song "baptise me" he noticed a friend that I was with who sang in the Parker Urban Band that opened for him last time he was in Jacksonville. He reached down from the stage and handed her the mike and she took over the song!" After a minute he took the mike back and started letting others dancing in front of the stage a shot at singing. It was fantastic. I've been to many concerts over my 68 years and have never felt as much a part of the event. Of course, it helps that Robert Randolf is arguably the best slide guitar player on the planet. This was money very well spent!

I thought the sound was pretty lame; it seemed like the band were all struggling to hear themselves and each other, as many of the band members kept signaling to the sound engineer to turn something up in their monitors. At one point, during a song and a moment in which he was actually playing, Robert walked away from his guitar to go backstage to talk to the sound engineer and IMO he seemed pretty annoyed about it. Overall the performance was lackluster and was missing the energy and tightness that I've seen RRFB display in the many videos I've seen of some of their previous live performances. I'll certainly be going to their next show near me, but I hope it's not at the Fillmore.

Absolutely AWESOME!!!!!! What a great band!!!! Great opening ban and I would actually go see them again as the band!!! This was my first time hearing them and I was loving it!!! I have already signed up for their newsletter to see where they are playing. Great time and great band!!!

It was a great show and Robert was such an energetic performer! He stood on his chair a few times and had a lot of passion playing his set. I'll definitely catch him again the next time he is around.

Great concert! The opener, JL Fulks was amazing. Robert Randolph & Family Band was kick ass and JO came back and played with them a few times which was very entertaining. Never stopped dancing!

The Zac Brown Band brings its Out in the Middle Tour to Soaring Eagle Casino at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 30, along with special guest Robert Randolph & the Family Band. Zac Brown Band is a multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning group led by front man, Zac Brown, along with Jimmy De Martini (violin), John Driskell Hopkins (guitar), Clay Cook (guitar), Chris Fryar (drums), Coy Bowles (guitar), Daniel de los Reyes (percussion) and Matt Mangano (bass guitar). Zac Brown Band has had six consecutive albums reach the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and five consecutive albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. Last year, the band released their heartfelt single, “The Man Who Loves You The Most,” which was written, recorded and produced in quarantine.

The track debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart. The light, breezy single “You and Islands” followed just in time for summer. To date, the band has won three Grammys, sold more than 30 million singles, 9 million albums, amassed more than 9.3 billion catalog streams and achieved 15 No. 1 radio singles.

Robert Randolph and his band have released six studio albums and has been nominated for Grammy Awards four times. Randolph was ranked 97th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

Robert Randolph Band will take the Fifth Third Bank Center Stage on Fountain Square on Sunday, June 23rd with Lauren Eylise and The Perfect Children!    A virtuoso on the pedal steel guitar, Robert Randolph burst onto the music scene in the early 2000’s with his fiery, passionate instrumental work and heartfelt music. It didn’t take long for Robert’s talents to get in front of numerous guitar legends, including Eric Clapton. Upon first listen, Clapton tapped Robert Randolph & the Family Band to tour the world opening for his band and include him in every iteration of the legendary Crossroads Festival. Clapton would also appear on Robert Randolph’s album Colorblind released in 2006 on Warner Music, a record that would also include a guest appearance from Dave Matthews.

Robert’s innovative approach to the pedal steel guitar has earned him four Grammy nominations, multiple Blues Music Awards, a BMI award, and Rolling Stone named Randolph one of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” His work can be heard on numerous TV and film broadcasts, including his long-standing theme song for the New York Knicks “Get There,” and “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That,” the current theme song for NFL Thursday Night Football.

Endstation summer season begins with Playwright’s Initiative Reading Festival

Endstation Theatre Company, the resident professional theatre of Randolph College, will kick off its 2024 season with a new play reading series, followed by two full-scale productions: Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and the drama Every Brilliant Thing . 

The Playwright’s Initiative Festival, which runs from June 13-16, features staged readings of new and original scripts about Central Virginia—an important step in developing material for fully staged productions.

The readings will be held at the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College on the following days and times: 

Thursday, June 13th at 7:30 p.m.

Good Birth by Patrick Earl , Endstation’s executive director, is a new play about The Virginia State Colony for Epileptics and Feebleminded, which became known for its forced sterilization of the poor and people of color. It was also at the center of the 1927 Supreme Court decision Buck v. Bell that upheld a physician’s right to forcibly sterilize a patient. Good Birth is a fictional tale of a young girl asked too soon to fight for her right to bear a child and suffer society’s misguided view of intelligence, all while facing down the brute force of the American Eugenics Movement in the early 1900s. This play contains references to sexual abuse and violence. 

Friday, June 14th at 7:30 p.m.

The Transported Man , by Russell Nichols , follows an escape artist as he recounts his world-renowned magic act: breaking from the chains of slavery by mailing himself from Virginia to Pennsylvania in a box. This play is based on the memoir, Narrative of the Life of Henry “Box” Brown , written by Brown himself. 

Saturday, June 15th at 2 p.m.

Dry Bones, by Jim McManus , tells the tale of four childhood friends’ fight to get by in a dying town. When the last factory closes, the bonds of friendship and love are put to the test as they struggle with their own demons and the price of living in an America where the jobs leave but the people remain. This play contains adult language and mature content. 

Saturday, June 15th at 7:30 p.m.

Whirlwind by Cris Eli Blak follows a high school tennis player with a chip on his shoulder who travels to Lynchburg, Virginia, to be trained and coached by Dr. Robert Walter “Whirlwind” Johnson, a medical doctor, coach, former college athlete, activist, and respected community member. Johnson seems to have it all, but is trying to fight the past and forge into the future of tennis being an integrated sport. 

Sunday, June 16th at 2 p.m.

The Motive of Fannie Braun by Makaila Henderson is a mystery about the title character, a housekeeper, and her daughter, who have lived with and worked for Robert Miller and his children for more than half a decade. Frannie’s world is shaken when she is accused of poisoning Miller’s son and put on trial.
