Davis Riley runs away with Charles Schwab Challenge as PGA Tour, golfers honor Grayson Murray

Davis Riley had no issue whatsoever closing out the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday afternoon.

Riley, despite posting only an even-par 70 in his final round, flew ahead to a five-shot win over the rest of the field at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. That earned him the second win of his career, and his second win on the PGA Tour in as many years. It's also his first solo win on Tour.

Riley took a four-shot lead into the final round, which was cut down thanks to a late surge from Scottie Scheffler on Saturday afternoon. The top-ranked golfer in the world carded a 63 on Saturday to get to 10-under, but he struggled to do much of anything on Sunday. Scheffler made two bogeys in his first five holes and ended up finishing with a 1-over 71 to drop to 9-under.

Riley, on the other hand, offset a pair of early bogeys perfectly and took a huge six-shot lead into the back nine after he sank a birdie putt at the 9th. From there, he simply held on the rest of the way to get to 14-under and grab the win. The win moved him to No. 55 in the FedExCup standings and earned him a spot in the remaining signature events on Tour this season.

Keegan Bradley jumped into second with his 3-under 67 on Sunday, which brought him even with Scheffler. Only Maverick McNealy had a better day, as his 4-under jumped him 41 spots on the leaderboard into T17. Collin Morikawa finished alone in fourth at 8-under on the week.

Golfers honor Grayson Murray in final round

Though Riley ran away with the event, his win came just one day after longtime Tour golfer Grayson Murray died by suicide .

Murray died Saturday morning in Texas, shortly after he withdrew from the tournament in the middle of his second round Friday. He was 30.

"Obviously, a super sad day in the golf world. My heart just goes to him and his family," Riley said on CBS after his win. "There was definitely a little extra to play for today."

Murray won twice on the Tour in his career, including earlier this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii in a three-way playoff. That snapped a long winless drought for him after his inaugural win at the Barbasol Championship in 2017. Murray had struggled for years with depression and anxiety, and he received treatment for alcohol abuse after his first win.

He had been sober since early 2023, however, and seemed to be on a much better path with his mental health.

"I would drink during tournament weeks. It was my outlet,” Murray said in January after his win at the Sony Open. “I thought I was invincible coming out here as a 22-year-old, winning as a rookie, played three days hungover when I won. Best and worst thing that ever happened to me was winning my rookie year, but also feeling like I was invincible … I’m a different man now. I would not be in this position right now today if I didn’t put that drink down eight months ago.”

The Tour considered stopping play altogether after Murray’s death, but his parents insisted that it continue on as scheduled. They also requested that golfers wear red and black ribbons on Sunday, which were the colors Murray always wore when competing on Sunday’s himself in honor of his hometown Carolina Hurricanes.

“Obviously the news hasn’t really sunk in quite yet, but I’m thinking about his family and praying hard for all of them,” Scheffler said after his round on Saturday. “I can’t imagine how difficult of a time this is. I got to know Grayson a bit better over the last six months or so and, yeah, really just, there’s not really a way to put into words how sad and tragic it is, but I’m thinking about his family.”

Webb Simpson, who finished the week at 3-over, said he first met Murray when Murray was about 8 years old.

“When you hear news like that over the phone, you don't think it's real at first, and you know, you hear the emotion coming from our swing coach and then you realize it's real,” Simpson said on Saturday. “I know that his mom was with him during the Wells Fargo Championship [earlier this month] and I think they were hanging out together, and I loved those two days we got together [playing there]. So I'm super thankful for getting some good time with him before the bad news of today.”

Harry Higgs, who won on the Korn Ferry Tour on Sunday at the Knoxville Open, spoke about Murray in his victory speech.

"I thought last night, I didn't sleep worth a darn, and I'm really good at sleeping," Higgs said. "I kind of thought about this moment and maybe how to remember Grayson, and it just kind of dawned on me ... this golf stuff and the result, it's lovely sure, but it's just not that meaningful ... Everybody here could be a difference, the difference. Brighten up somebody's day, it could mean the world."

Smiley Riley at your service

We have been travelling to Jamaica for quite a few years now and had the pleasure of having Kemrod take us to Mystic Mountain. It was our first tour with him but certainly not our last. It was an interesting trip due to some of the others being on "Jamaican time" but we all made the best of it and Kemrod kept my daughter and I entertained as we waited. Whenever we visit the island we call on Kemrod to pick us up from the airport and take us wherever our hearts desire. We can always count on him and he and his family have become part of our family. We highly recommend Riley Tours for a professional driver and a great big smile as well as a few laughs. He is very knowledgable and accomodating as well as affordable prices. We look forward to our next visit "home" to see our family and we will always call on Kemrod to drive us safely wherever we need to go.

Kemrod and Simpson are PHENOMENAL. Kemrod "Smiley" Riley is spot on for suggestions, pricing and all around fun trips. They literally took us through half the island, and made us feel like family!! I HIGHLY recommend their services, and they will bend over backwards to accommodate your requests (even a 12 hour too-much-for-one-day bright idea of mine). Please consider them for all your tours!! Top notch honest people! Will use them from now on! :-)

We went to Runaway Bay for a few days; Kemrod Riley was recommended to us by our hotel front desk and we were not disappointed. He took us to 9miles to visit Bob Marley's Mausoleum and all along the road he told us a lot about the island, we learned so much about Jamaica just on this trip. We were so pleased with this first tour that we booked him again to go to the local market and had a very nice time too. Kemrod is so friendly and very interesting. He even gave us some good advice as a young couple, and we got a chance to meet his adorable family. We recommend Riley tour to anybody who would go to the area, definitely the best!

After planning our 10th anniversary trip to Runaway Bay, Jamaica, we found Kemrod Riley as a recommended, reliable, and safe airport transport. I messaged him and arranged pick up in Montego Bay and transfer to a resort in Runaway Bay. He was prompt and escorted us to his waiting car and we were transferred to Runaway Bay and also treated to a great tour along the way. Mr. Riley is both professional and personable and provided impeccable, economical service to us making our trip that much better. We also booked a day trip with him to Dunn's River Falls and the Coyoba Botanical Gardens. He helped us every step of the way and it made for a great day! He even went the extra mile and took us to the best shopping in the area where we could be assured safety and the best prices along with suggested lunch areas for local flavor. I cannot express enough how much Riley Tours made our trip such a great experience. No one should pass up the opportunity to take a ride with Kemrod "Smiley" Riley!!

We booked Kemrod Riley for our trip to the Blue Hole and lunch at the Ocho Rios Jerk Centre in September. I emailed him through his website several weeks before our arrival and then he kept in touch several times until the day of our excursion. He originally quoted a single price to take just my husband and I, but said he would be able to give a lower per person price if we happen to meet anyone at the resort who would like to come along. It turned out that we did end up meeting and bringing along 4 more people from our resort and even though we were very last minute in telling him about them, he accommodated all of us, no problem mon! Even though our group along with a few folks he had also picked up, filled up his van, it was very comfortable and air conditioned. He was very friendly (hence his nickname -smiley) and told us lots of things about the area and Jamaican culture during our time with him. Our first stop was Blue Hole, which is an absolute must see!! It is very much off the beaten path and a little bit of an adventure just getting there. Kemrod waited with our things while we climbed, jumped, swam and soaked up the beauty of God's creation in this heavenly spot. Next we stopped at the Ocho Rios Jerk Centre for lunch. Very good authenic food. Kemrod and his trainee (forgot her name. sorry!) ate with all of us and we had such a good time getting to know him and enjoying the causal environment and listening to and watching the rain outside that had started just as we left Blue Hole. By the time he drops you off, you feel like you have made a new friend :) I don't think we could have made a better choice for a driver and we will absolutely use him again if we are blessed enough to be able to return to Jamaica! Call or email him today. You will not be sorry you did!

A group of us traveled with Kemrod Riley Smiley on August 11th for the day. He was prompt on the pick up as planned. Very informative regarding landmarks & the Jamaican culture on the way to our destination, Blue Hole. He is on the school board for the Bethel Basic School in Windsor Heights where we visited and donated school supplies for the children, which was a great experience. We stopped off at a local grocery store on the way for refreshments. Then to Scotchies for lunch & back to our resort. The transportation with Smiley Riley was VERY inexpensive, he is VERY courteous, & we ALWAYS felt safe. While we were diving, swimming, etc. @ Blue Hole our belongings were locked in his van & he NEVER left our sight. While with Smiley Riley we experienced things we would not have otherwise been able to had we taken a large tour bus/operator. I HIGHLY recommend his services!!! Book with Riley TOURS NOW… you will NOT be disappointed!!!

Charles Schwab Congratulates Davis Riley as Champion of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge

Davis Riley was awarded the 1975 Schwab Stingray after winning the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge

WESTLAKE, Texas --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Charles Schwab is honored to congratulate Davis Riley on his victory at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. With his first individual PGA Tour win, Davis Riley captured the iconic Leonard Trophy and will have his name etched in granite on the Wall of Champions at Colonial Country Club . He was also presented with a one-of-a-kind Champion’s Prize ― a custom 1975 Schwab Stingray .

During Sunday’s champion’s ceremony on the 18th hole, Davis Riley was officially awarded the fully restored and modernized 1975 Schwab Stingray featuring one-off Schwab badging and touches of Colonial’s trademark Scottish royal tartan interior accents to match the champion’s tartan jacket that is synonymous with this historic tournament.

This year’s Champion’s Prize pays homage to “May Day,” a pivotal moment in the history of Wall Street and Schwab when, in 1975, regulated stock trading commissions came to an end and brokerage firms were first allowed to set their own commission rates. Instead of raising rates, Schwab opened the doors to investing wider for individuals by reducing commissions.

“It is a privilege for us to serve as title sponsor of the Charles Schwab Challenge, and we are so proud of the historic place this event holds in the history of golf,” said Stacy Hammond , Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Charles Schwab . She added, “As this year’s tournament debuted the newly renovated Colonial Country Club course which has been reimagined for future generations of golfers, at Schwab we believe in the power of investing to help individuals create a better tomorrow.”

Charles Schwab & Co. signed on as title sponsor of the annual event at Colonial Country Club for the 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge. Already a major sponsor of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, the firm’s initial four-year agreement, which has been extended through 2026, marked its first-ever title sponsorship of a PGA TOUR event. Schwab continues as a vital part of the DFW Metroplex financial community where its 70-acre campus in Westlake is home to the firm’s corporate headquarters.

Davis Riley captures first individual TOUR win by five-stroke margin at Charles Schwab Challenge

Daily Wrap Up

Change Text Size

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Davis Riley shot even-par 70 while playing in the final group Sunday with Scottie Scheffler, and still won the Charles Schwab Challenge by five strokes over the world's No. 1 player and Keegan Bradley for his first individual victory on the PGA TOUR.

Riley finished at 14-under 266 after rolling in a 6-foot par putt on the final hole at Colonial Country Club. Bradley had a closing 67, and Scheffler shot 71 on a day when he hit only seven of 14 fairways and didn't have a birdie until the 13th hole.

After beginning the final round with a four-stroke lead, Riley gave up a stroke with a bogey on the second hole when he drove into the right rough and then hit into the bunker. But that was the closest Scheffler — or anybody else — would get with wind gusts of 20 mph and more blowing throughout the day.

Bradley, who has already won twice this year, was at 10-under after a 4-foot birdie at the 17th hole. But he missed a similar-length chance to save par at No. 18 after his tee shot and approach both ended up in the right rough.

Riley curled in a 27-foot birdie at the 229-yard par-3 No. 4 that is the middle of the famed “Horrible Horseshoe” that is still the toughest three-hole stretch on the course. Scheffler bogeyed there and again at No. 5 after his into the right rough running parallel to the Trinity River.

While Riley closed out the front nine with a 9-foot birdie putt, he was six strokes ahead of Scheffler.

Collin Morikawa, the only player in the field to finish all four rounds under par, was fourth at 8-under after his closing 68.

Scheffler was playing close to his Dallas home. After tying for eighth at Valhalla, Colonial was the 11th top-10 finish in 12 tournaments he has played this year. Before the PGA Championship, he had taken three weeks off for the birth of his first child after back-to-back wins at the Masters and the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, South Carolina.

It was Scheffler's third consecutive top-three finish at Colonial, even after an opening 72 that was the first time this season he failed to break par in a first round. That also included his first triple-bogey of the season, when his tee shot at the par-3 13th hole went into the pond fronting that raised green.

No. 13 was Scheffler's first birdie Sunday, but he was still seven strokes back at that point. After the triple on Thursday, he had played 44 consecutive bogey-free holes — including rounds of 65 and 63, until Nos. 4 and 5 on Sunday.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Davis Riley was practicing a week before Colonial when he got an unsettling call that his older sister had a seizure at work, which led to the discovery of a tumor on her brain and surgery the next day.

Riley wasn’t even sure then that he would be able to, or even want to, play in the Charles Schwab Challenge.

“When you have somebody that close to you, all the worst-case scenarios are going through your head,” Riley said. “It was certainly a scary feeling thinking about how you could lose your sister.”

The family got a huge sigh of relief when the surgery was successful and the tumor was non-cancerous. His parents told him that his sister wanted him to go play.

So Riley did, and got his first individual victory on the PGA Tour after playing in the final group Sunday with Scott Scheffler. Riley shot even-par 70 to finish at 14-under 266, five strokes ahead of the world’s No. 1 player and Keegan Bradley.

After beginning the final round with a four-stroke lead, Riley gave up a stroke with a bogey on the second hole when he drove into the right rough and then hit into the bunker. But that was the closest Scheffler — or anybody else — would get with wind gusts of 20 mph and more blowing throughout the day, and with firm greens.

Bradley had a 67, and Scheffler shot 71 on a day when he didn’t have a birdie until the 13th hole. Collin Morikawa, the only player in the field to finish all four rounds under par, was fourth at 8 under after his closing 68.

The 27-year-old Riley’s only other PGA Tour win came when he and Nick Hardy won the Zurich Classic team event in New Orleans last year. The Mississippi native’s win at historic Colonial, which had been completely restored since last year’s tournament, earned him $1,638,000, the traditional winner’s plaid jacket and a fully restored and modernized 1975 Stingray car.

Riley’s parents were still with his sister and not there for his victory. But Hardy, who teed off five hours before the final group, was there to greet him after his final 6-foot par putt.

“We’ve got a special friendship and obviously having our maiden PGA Tour in together was certainly special,” Riley said. “We actually played the first two days together this week. So there’s definitely a level of comfort there. Probably a big reason why I got off to a good start.”

The final round was played on the day that Grayson Murray’s parents said their 30-year-old son took his own life Saturday, a day after the two-time tour winner had cited illness when withdrawing from the event with two holes left in his second round. The family had insisted to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan for play to continue.

Bradley was at 10 under after a 4-foot birdie at the 17th hole, but missed a similar-length chance to save par at No. 18 after his tee shot and approach both ended up in the right rough.

“My best round of the year probably. Hung in there,” Bradley said. “I really felt comfortable out there in contention, which is not always the case.”

Colonial was his first top 10 since being in a three-way playoff at the Sony Open in January won by Murray.

“It was certainly nice to start out with a cushion,” Riley said. “You got the No. 1 player in the world breathing down your neck, not really any shot lead is too comfortable. ... I tried to treat today as if we both started tied and I just tried to win the day.”

By time Riley closed out the front nine with a 9-foot birdie putt, he was six strokes ahead of Scheffler.

“I just wasn’t able to put as much pressure as I would have hoped to put on Davis early in the round,” Scheffler said. “He made that bogey on 2 and answered it really quick with a birdie on 4 and didn’t really give us much of an opening today. ... It was a well-earned win for him.”

Scheffler was playing close to his Dallas home a week after his arrest in the morning darkness before his second round of the PGA Championship, when police were investigating a pedestrian fatality and arrested — and briefly jailed — Scheffler for not following traffic directions.

After tying for eighth at Valhalla, Colonial was the 11th top-10 finish in Scheffler’s 12 tournaments this year. Before the PGA Championship, he had taken three weeks off for the birth of his first child after back-to-back wins at the Masters and the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head.

It was Scheffler’s third consecutive top-three finish at Colonial, even after an opening 72 that was the first time this season he failed to break par in a first round. That also included his first triple-bogey of the season, when his tee shot at the par-3 13th hole went into the pond fronting that raised green.

No. 13 was Scheffler’s first birdie Sunday, but he was still seven strokes back at that point. After the triple on Thursday, he had played 44 consecutive bogey-free holes — including rounds of 65 and 63, until Nos. 4 and 5 on Sunday.

Davis Riley cruised to his first individual PGA Tour title in the Charles Schwab Challenge as Scottie Scheffler failed to mount a final-day charge.

Riley, who won the Zurich Classic with Nick Hardy last year, took a four-shot lead into the final round at Colonial and carded a closing 70 to finish 14 under par, five shots clear of Scheffler and Keegan Bradley.

World No 1 Scheffler was in second place, four strokes back, when the day began, yet no serious challengers emerged in the final round as Riley, 27, responded to each of his four bogeys with a birdie, and increased his lead to six shots despite only going level par over the front nine.

"I knew coming into today it was going to be tough," Riley said. "It's obviously a very tough golf course and when you've got the world No 1 breathing down your neck it's going to be difficult until the last hole.

"I'm proud of the way I just stayed in it, fought some adversity early, just kind of hung in there and played some really good golf coming down the stretch and just super excited and proud of myself."

Seeking a fifth win of the season, Scheffler was three over par for his first 10 holes before making birdies on the 13th and 17th in a final round of 71.

But he was unable to close the gap on Riley, whose lead reached seven strokes after Riley's birdie on the 11th.

Bradley was within three shots until a bogey on the final hole, where he had posted par in each of the first three rounds, leaving Riley leading by four with three holes to complete. Maverick McNealy (66) was the only player to better Bradley's final round, but only tied for 17th.

Despite Riley's breakthrough, there also was a sombre tone at the tournament just one day after the death of PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray , who was entered in the event and withdrew during the second round.

Golfers and caddies wore red and black ribbons on their caps or shirts on Sunday in memory of Murray, who often wore the colours of his hometown NHL team Carolina Hurricanes for Sunday rounds.

His parents released a statement revealing the cause of death, expressing their devastation and thanking golfers, the Tour and others for the support.

His family requested that ribbons with the same colors be worn Sunday. ❤️🖤 pic.twitter.com/zS3V0pwW0N — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) May 26, 2024

"It's a super sad day in the golf world," Riley said. "My heart just goes to him and his family. There was definitely a little extra to play for today."

SMILEY RILEY TOURS - THE BEST!!

My husband and I visited Jamaica for the first time 10/10 - 10/17. I had been given suggestions for excursions by the hotel (Jewel Dunns River) and could purchase them ahead of time. However, I started reading the reviews of various places to go, along with their tour guides. EVERY review about SMILEY RILEY TOURS (Kemrod) was exceptional! I emailed him stating what we wanted to do an see. He created a day trip for us including everything, at a reasonable price too! He told us exactly what we would need to take with us, the cost and how long the trip would take. I emailed him when we checked in. We were picked up in our OWN vehicle, no shared van! Smiley introduced himself and his staff and he said we could do whatever we wanted. They were at our disposal for the day! Now who does that? We were with Doreen and Chris and never stopped laughing! We went to Bob Marley's nine mile road, Scotchie's for lunch and mega shopping including Margaritaville! Smiley knew exactly where to go for everything I wanted to purchase, it was great! He actually got me a BIG discount at the stores!! We spent so long in the shops, we were too tired to complete our excursion. So Kemrod suggested going the next day. What a guy! Chris picked us up the next day, in the same vehicle, and off we went to "The Blue Hole", a must see. Then we stopped at a grocery store, that was an experience! I can't give enough praise to Kemrod and his staff. They are fabulous, very accomodating and so much fun to be with. You would be crazy not to use them!! You can befriend him on Facebook to see pics of all his adventures. He loves to hear from guests. (rileytours.biz)

Riley was professional, prompt and extremely service-oriented. He took excellent care of our transport needs between the airport and hotel, and took us on two excursions. He worked with us on the itinerary and was quite reasonable. Highly recommended!

Hello Xanadu We sure do appreciate this good review of the services provided through our company. Thanks again for choosing Riley tours. Looking forward to our future venture together. Riley Tours

We found Smiley on Facebook, he was mentioned quite a few times on our hotel page, based on what people were saying we decided to book him for our trip to Nine Mile and i'm so glad we did. A couple of e-mails and a quick call from our hotel and it was sorted. On the day of our trip he collected us from our hotel as arranged and on time. He got us to Nine Mile before the coach loads arrived, because of this our tour was a very small group which meant our tour had plenty of good photo opportunities and a very personal experience. On the way back to our hotel he took us to a small plantation and a lady named June walked us around, explaining about all the plants growing in the plantation and their uses, very interesting and well worth the visit and the tip for June. So, we booked him there and then for trip 2, the Green Grotto Caves. Again, on time and with a co worker Scotty (Lovely bloke). We arrived at the caves as some coach loads were leaving, which again, gave us a small group in our tour which was brilliant. After the caves we went across the road to The Ultimate Jerk Centre. The food was lovely and Smileys wife and her friend joined us. This was the best bit of using a local more personal tour service. We all sat together enjoying the food and chatting. Smiley was a lovely, friendly bloke. On both tours he talked about the areas we were driving through, pointing out all places of interest and stopping if we wanted to take photo's. Highly recommended. You won't get his personal touches with the tour operated coaches.

We booked kemrod after seeing reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. We tailored two long days of trips, and kemrod and his drivers took us everywhere we wanted to go and more. We travelled all over the island, heard stories and folk legends, ate in the locals restaurants and had a real Jamaican experience. Kemrod even sang to us, that's the only bit I cannot recommend! Hope we can all meet again in sunny jamaica

We booked this company to collect us from the airport as we just couldn't face the coach transfer after the 9 1/2 hrs flight. We collected our luggage spoke to the thomsons rep to let him know we're had made other arrangement. Stepped outside of Montego Bay airport to be greeted by the biggest smile in Jamaica. Kemrod and Scotty loaded our bag's and we sat in the comfort of the air conditioned mini bus and was handed a red strip straight from the cooler as promised the journey time was cut by a third disputed being held up in an accident and at $30 a head you just can't complain. Whilst on our way to the hotel we arranged a guided tour with them which we did today September 30th 2015. An what can I say it was AWESOME we were collected by Scotty at the hotel promptly at 7:30 we started our journey making our way to Spanish Town with our guide Shakira providing us with all the facts and history on the way and plenty of photo opportunities then on to Devon House for a little pit stop onwards to the Bob Marley museum (well worth a look) then a little pit stop for some food and up into the blue mountains we went the coffee plantation we stopped at was amazing, I learnt all about coffee then hiked up to the view point at the very top of the mountain the view was breath taking !!!!! On our way back we want through Kingston town up and down town. All in all we were out for just under 12 hrs and it was full and fun pack I would highly recommend this tour company and we certainly intend to use them again during our amazing stay in this beautiful country.

Hello Zoby16 Awesome is the way you expressed your experience with our tour company. We are happy that you are happy. Customer personal service is what we emulate here at Riley Tours. Satisfaction guaranteed. Thanks for choosing Riley Tours and we are happy to be of good assistance to you and your family on your Jamaican experience Regards Kemrod smiley Riley

We searched for a private tour company. We have been to Ja previously but had used the travel rep's in resort for tours. We didnt think they were really value for money, hence our search. Grandad, Grandma and Grandson. Came across Kemrod, Smiley Riley Tours via TA. Glad we did, from the moment we first contacted him his communications and advice was first class. He picked us up from the Airport with one of his Drivers Scottie took us to our hotel, at this point we finalised timings etc for our first tour Dunns River and Blue Hole. Scottie arrived on time for our tour ( big plus point) He is a very genuinely friendly and very knowledgeable Driver/Guide he looked after us throughout the whole day in a totally professional manner (felt totally safe with him) We were that impressed we used him again to go to Rockland Bird Sanctuary. Once again First Class Service. I would wholeheartedly recommend Smiley Riley Tours without hesitation.

Davis Riley wins Charles Schwab Challenge as Scottie Scheffler fades

Davis Riley easily triumphed over Scottie Scheffler for his second PGA Tour victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial.

Michael Corvo

davis riley charles schwab challenge

Davis Riley (-14) cruised to his second PGA Tour victory on Sunday, firing an even-par 70 to win the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX. Scottie Scheffler (-8, 1-over 71), who began the final round four stokes back, never made his playing partner sweat.

Scheffler tied for second with Keegan Bradley (-9, 67), followed by Collin Morikawa (-8, 68).

Riley carded four birdies and four bogeys as he grinded through the blistery conditions.

“It was certainly nice to start out with a cushion … but you got the No. 1 player in the world breathing down your neck, not really any shot lead is too comfortable.” said Riley, whose previous PGA Tour victory came at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a team event.

“I knew at some point today he was going to make a push and I expected that. And, honestly, I tried to treat today as if we both started tied and I just tried to win the day.”

Riley had two bogeys (and one birdie) through five holes, but Scheffler let him off the hook with bogeys on Nos. 4 and 5. Conversely, on No. 9, Scheffler — whose red-hot Saturday putter iced up — missed his birdie try, while Riley capitalized to carry a commanding lead into the back nine.

“I saw a leaderboard on 13. I saw Keegan Bradley was at 9 (under), Scottie was at 8 … and he had a good look for birdie on 13. So I knew I had a 4- or 5-shot lead at the time,” recalled Riley. “With the wind the way it was, the firmness of the greens, how it was picking up, I knew it was going to be a tough finish … so I just tried to wear out the fairways and greens and try to get a couple opportunities and roll some good putts and if they went in, great, if not, I knew pars were good coming in.”

The Mississippi native earned $1.6 million, a plaid jacket  and a fully restored 1975 Stingray for his victory.

For the second straight week, Scheffler was plagued by inconsistency, as off-course matters overshadowed his golf. Scheffler — who shot a 65, 73, then 66 after his arrest at Valhalla — struggled in his first round (72) at Colonial, which included a rare triple-bogey mere hours after his felony charges were not dropped . (He did not address his legal situation at Colonial.)

Scheffler bounced back with a 65 and 63 to surge into contention. But the metroplex resident was uncharacteristically erratic on Sunday.

“I had that tough first round, but I battled back very nicely on Friday and Saturday,” said Scheffler. “As far as today goes, I just wasn't able to put as much pressure as I would have hoped to put on Davis early in the round.”

Scheffler now has four wins, two runner-ups and one T8 in his last seven PGA Tour starts. He's finished top-three in each of the last three starts at Colonial.

Of course, golf was secondary on Sunday in the wake of two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray's sudden passing . Golfers donned black and red ribbons , a nod to Murray's beloved Carolina Hurricanes.

“My heart just goes to him and his family,” said Riley moments after his clinching putt. “There was definitely a little extra to play for today.”

Smiley Riley

We booked smiley Riley for a day trip to several locations. he was prompt in picking us up and make sure our trip was a very pleasurable experience. he showed us the history of the island for the parts that we visited and made sure that we had fun. I would highly recommend smiley Riley if you are planning a tour outside of your destination.

We stayed at the Royal Decameron in Runaway Bay!! Riley pick the 4 of us up on Saturday morning at 7am sharp!! I had booked this trip weeks in advance to lock in the date being that his company is a top-rated tour company!!! We spent the whole day and evening going to different places on the Island!! Our first stop was to YS Falls and did the zip lining there!!! also had a great lunch there too!! Next stop was to the Pelican Bar on the south shore of Jamaica!! What a great time that was!! I'll never forget it!! and last but not least ......... NEGRIL to Ricks Cafe for the sunset!!! Riley and Scotty(Driver) we so professional I highly recommend them for any tour!!! He stayed with us the whole time and made us feel very comfortable!! We also learned so much history from him!!! We stayed at Jewel Runaway Bay with our two boys 8/11.Highly recommend for your own personalized custom trip. We used Riley to take us to Dunns River and Blue Hole and he delivered above expectations. He even took us to a local jerk resteraunt that was very good. We were so happy with his services we used him two days later to go on a river tubbing trip. Contact him via email to put together your own custom trip. Thanks Riley!!

I had the pleasure of using Riley tours on March 26 2015 to transfer us from the airport to our hotel in Runaway Bay. Having traveled from Windsor Ontario Canada I was looking forward to arriving at our hotel and at the same time a bit nervous since it was our first time in Jamaica and using a private charter. Kemrod Smiley Riley put all my fears and concerns at ease . Kemrod was there at the airport as soon as we made it through customs and loaded are things into his pleasantly well equip vehicle with no issues. On are way to the hotel Kemrod told us about the history of each of the area's we were driving through and answered any questions that we had about the beautiful landscape. Kemrod was a very knowledgeable polite and kind individual that made our first day of travel stress free. I would highly recommend this service if you are travelling to Jamaica and I am certain I will be using his services on my next vacation to the Island. One more really important thing ... The price was very reasonable for the quality of the service!

I had chosen this company based on T.A. reviews and T.A. forum I am so glad we did. Contacted Riley (by email) while we were at RIU Ocho Rios, very fast answers, each time (and believe me, I had A LOT of questions before booking the trip with his company). We finally went with Scottie to Blue Hole and then for some Ocho Rios Shopping. We highly recommend their services ! Professional, patient, gave us useful information and a quick history of the town at the same time. We left our belongings in his car at each stop and felt very safe each time. Thanks for the great day !

Fantastic service. So accommodating and friendly. I was given the name from a friend and will continue to spread the word! Thanks so much Kemrod! I hope we'll see you soon. Miranda SSM Ontario
