All courses for EA Sports PGA Tour – Full list

Image of Chris Studley

With EA Sports PGA Tour set to hit the links in Q2 of 2023, we now have some details on what golf and video game fans can expect when the title goes live. We already know information regarding a number of courses that will be a part of EA Sports PGA Tour. This information is quite notable, especially given the title’s PGA branding and the fact that EA has an exclusive partnership with the tour and the four Majors. So, which courses will be a part of PGA Tour? Here’s what we know so far.

Here are the courses that we know about so far:

  • Augusta National Golf Club
  • East Lake Golf Club
  • Evian Resort Golf Club
  • Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course
  • Pebble Beach Golf Links
  • Southern Hills Country Club
  • The Country Club
  • The Los Angeles Country Club
  • The Old Course at St. Andrews Links
  • Torrey Pines
  • TPC Southwind
  • Wilmington Country Club

EA stated that 30 courses will be a part of EA Sports PGA Tour, and more will be confirmed in the future. The title will feature the past Majors hosts for 2021 and 2022, which makes sense given that the developer/publisher has rights to these championships. Per EA, the new Majors host for 2023 will be added post-launch .

30 bucket-list courses to play in a deep career and try your riskiest shots on — or play them safe

It only seems like the biggest features in EA Sports PGA Tour , which launches April 7, are the ones that fans already played and enjoyed a decade ago. Augusta National Golf Course and all four of the men’s major championships are in; even things like boosted drives with “big-hit moment” camera changes are making a return.

But focusing only on the return of the Masters Tournament, or the visual fidelity with which Augusta National and other courses are presented, would sell short what I saw in a presentation last week. Namely, a career mode that is even more RPG-like than before, offers more ways to customize and mold your created golfer’s playing style, and looks like it will swallow just as many of my evenings as the old Tiger Woods games did.

EA Sports PGA Tour looks like a game where, even though there will be more real-life professionals on the roster than ever, the developers understand that the users themselves are the real stars of the show.

“Even when we had Tiger, over 97% of people play as a created player,” producer Ben Ramsour told Polygon in an interview after the presentation. “So we know that’s a core motivation. However, we’ve done a lot to build these relationships with these pros, and we want to tell their stories in the game.”

Granted, I couldn’t pull much from a single glimpse of the detailed golfer progression screen we were shown. But players will rank up 10 different skills (each with 10 ranks) as they acquire skill points with each level. Lead producer David Baker even intimated that at advanced levels, players will be able to unlock packages of traits that will make their golfer’s abilities resemble the playing styles of the PGA’s and LPGA’s biggest stars.

Publicity headshot of Ben Ramsour, producer for EA Sports PGA Tour, dated 2023

All of this leans into new gameplay that continues to offer broad-based shot-shaping features and differentiates them even more with 20 shot types, some of which are unlocked in the later stages of attribute progression. Those shot types may also be ranked up, it seems.

“I think a big thing is experimentation,” Ramsour said, noting that players can again create multiple avatars and progress them individually. He also said, “We want users to see, Hey, Tony Finau’s game really matches well to Augusta, but it’s terrible for Harbour Town .”

This is surfaced through a nifty little menu that I saw called Course Fit, which stole the show as far as something new that will connect me more to my created golfer. Course Fit, seen on the course selection screen, gives players a relative view of their skills versus what the course will expect of a winning player. Five attributes — Power, Driving, Approach, Short Game, and Putting — all have bars; the closer a player’s bar is to the course’s, the more they’ll be able to take advantage of that characteristic.

It’s not an attribute boost; it’s just visual information that will give me a sense of just how risky my ideas are on the second shot of, say, one of East Lake Golf Club’s par-5 holes, or how important it’s going to be to stick this approach at Pebble Beach, where there’s a demanding putting game waiting for me.

Publicity headshot of David Baker, lead producer of EA Sports PGA Tour, dated 2023

“So for me, I want to win the major championships,” Ramsour said. “So in my primary created player, I am leveling up the shot types to win the four majors. But eventually, I’m going to want to win every single tournament on the hardest mode. So I know I’m going to have to be less of a bomber and more precise to win at Harbour Town.”

Although players may have multiple created golfers, most stick with one for Career. They will most likely see all of the differences Ramsour mentioned in Challenges, a separate mode, but one that has a supplementary effect to Career.

Challenges, to me, resembled the kind of bite-sized moments available in Madden Ultimate Team’s single-player offering. Indeed, they’ll be live-service content, driven by real-world occurrences, and like MUT, they’ll use different players in addition to the created pro. Baker said that the challenges are designed to play like between-rounds practices, meaning they’ll be shorter experiences focused on a particular skill or a particular moment.

The rewards will be skill points for use in created-player progression, as well as clubs and cosmetic items they can equip. (Importantly, these clubs, equipment, and apparel do not affect player attributes, as they may have in the past.) Golfers can expect a season-based approach here that other online sports video games have adopted.

an aerial shot of hole No. 13 at Augusta National Golf Course in EA Sports PGA Tour

All of these modes, players, and courses — 30 at launch, the most ever for the standard edition of an EA Sports golf title — mean little if the core gameplay isn’t tight, informative, and understandable. While the event last week was not hands-on, the developers focused on the swing mechanism and the 20 shot types supporting it in a one-hole demonstration at Augusta’s No. 13.

Best example: a “stinger,” which is a lower but safer shot from the tee. Gameplay designer Craig Penner used the stinger to rope a 266-yard drive with Jordan Spieth that still hugged No. 13’s famous left-hand sweep — it just used the downhill fairway to get its distance. In the end, Spieth sacrificed about 10 yards of distance to make a safer shot. This is something I would often try to replicate in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 , but the lowest trajectory that game offered didn’t come close to what I saw last week.

Casual headshot of Craig Penner, the gameplay designer for EA Sports PGA Tour

Ramsour, playing as 2022 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler, used a boost-assisted power drive — impressive, and successful, but still a dangerous shot that is a blind approach, and which could clip the treetops if not executed perfectly. But again, Scheffler is longer off the tee than Spieth, so both golfers were playing to type and taking, or avoiding, appropriate risks (especially as they were highlighted by Course Fit).

I was also struck by the bits of commentary we heard from the game as the demonstration played out. For once, it sounded like the broadcast team was actually watching what was being played. Lead commentator Rich Lerner returns from 2015’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tour , and on Penner’s shot with Spieth, I heard him discussing the use of the fairway’s width and slope to get the desired result.

Returning broadcast partner Frank Nobilo (and new course reporters Notah Begay III and Iona Stephen ) also provided context-appropriate color, a dramatic improvement over past games, which mostly offered generic repetition.

  • EA Sports PGA Tour gets a fifth major tournament — from the LPGA

“We have tech that delivers detailed analysis on how putts will break,” Baker said in last week’s presentation. “There’s also a system that connects the field reporter analysis of the current situation, and also highlights landmarks from our great list of courses, to tell historical stories from those exact spots on the course.”

EA Sports PGA Tour launches Friday, April 7 — during the second round of the Masters — on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X . Those who pre-order the $84.99 deluxe edition will get access to the game on Tuesday, April 4. The deluxe edition has additional in-game content, such as virtual currency for the in-game pro shop’s items and an XP boost.

Update (March 3): EA Sports has announced that EA Sports PGA Tour will be delayed two weeks from its originally announced release date, and will now arrive on April 7. This story has been updated with the new date.

It's not just the visuals that bring the classy courses to life in EA Sports PGA Tour, but also the ball behaviour.

Generating an accurate feel for the different courses was an important part of the process for the design team, with factors impacting the height of a ball’s bounce, the speed of its roll, the impact on ball spin, and the launch of the ball.

Augusta National returns to video games in new EA Sports PGA Tour series

One of the game’s most fabled courses is back in the virtual world for the first time in a decade.

And it looks better than ever.

EA Sports, the makers of the popular Tiger Woods PGA Tour and Rory McIlroy video game series which was last released in 2015, announced Thursday it is relaunching the iconic video game as EA Sports PGA Tour — and with it comes the return of Augusta National to video games as part of EA Sports PGA Tour’s roster of 30 courses.

The game also includes a “Road to the Masters” career mode. EA Sports PGA Tour will be the only golf video game to feature the four men’s major championships, as well as the LPGA’s Amundi Evian Championship. Augusta National and EA Sports announced the renewed partnership before the 2021 Masters.

Tiger Woods or the Masters? Two new golf video games present consumers a choice

GOLF.com attended a media preview of the game last week, where developers said the time was right for the company to bring back the series because of the large boom of interest in golf thanks to the pandemic. Advancements to the game’s Frostbite graphics engine also allowed creators to, in their words, make “the most spectacular-looking golf game ever.” (EA Sports also has plans to revive its extremely popular college football game in the summer of 2024.)

The team focused on four pillars when creating the game:

1. The exclusive home of the majors

The covers of EA Sports PGA Tour standard (L) and deluxe editions.

EA developers said this was by far the most requested feature for a golf video game. Augusta National debuted in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 (2011) and was a staple for the remaining two editions of the game. It was not featured in the 2015 reboot, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.

There will be unique presentation packages for each major, including an intro for the Open Championship narrated by Nick Faldo.

EA Sports’ agreements with golf’s governing bodies go further than just the majors. For the first time, the U.S. Amateur, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and other top amateur events will be featured in the game.

2. Deep and varied course roster

The game will launch with 30 courses worldwide, ranging from classic video game favorites like TPC Sawgrass and Pebble Beach to more exotic spots like Oregon’s Bandon Dunes or New Zealand’s Tara Iti .

Producer Ban Ramsour said the team went as far as to work with former geologists to map each course using LiDAR, photogrammetry (the science of extracting 3D information from photos) and GPS mapping technology. On ground mapping and photography were conducted at every course, including the use of helicopters, airplanes and drones.

A screenshot of Augusta National's 13th green from the EA Sports PGA Tour video game.

Augusta National even gave EA access to its “tree health software” so developers could accurately place every tree and flower on the course.

Ramsour said the data used for the courses was 30 times more dense than anything publically available for other games and simulators.

During the preview, the developers played a live demo of the game on Augusta National’s 13th hole to showcase the new gameplay mechanics (more on that below) and course details.

Notably, the pair teed off from last year’s back tee. Recent aerial photographs of Augusta National have shown a new tee on the famous par-5 . While Augusta National likely won’t make any announcement about the tee until closer to the tournament, when asked about the new tee EA Sports lead producer David Baker said that there could be updates down the line.

“The game team is working with Augusta National and is continually looking to get the most up-to-date course playable in-game for the most authentic experience possible,” Baker told GOLF.com in an email. “That includes bunkers, fairways and tee boxes from all courses in the game, for example. The strong partnerships we have forged with each course has allowed us to replicate each course as accurately as possible.”

Danielle Kang hits an approach on No. 6 at Pebble Beach in a screenshot from EA Sports PGA Tour.

Here’s the full roster of courses included for the game’s launch:

-Augusta National -St. Andrews (Old Course) -Pebble Beach -The Country Club -Southern Hills -TPC Sawgrass -Evian Resort -East Lake -Wilmington Country Club -TPC Boston -TPC Southwind -Teeth of the Dog -TPC Scottsdale -Tara Iti -Whistling Straits -The Ocean Course at Kiawah -Chambers Bay -Wolf Creek -Liberty National -Bay Hill -Riviera Country Club -PGA West -Quail Hollow -Torrey Pines -Banff Springs -Top of the Rock -Bandon Dunes -Harbour Town

3. Pure Strike gameplay powered by ShotLink

For the first time in a video game, ShotLink and Trackman data is being used to accurately recreate ball behavior across a wide variety of different courses. Instead of choosing between simple full shots, punches, chips, etc., the game introduces 20 different shot types.

“What this means for you is that when you grab the controller and step behind the ball, your options are virtually unlimited,” said Gameplay designer Craig Penner. “Allowing you to attack each course and each hole just like the pros you see on TV.”

To better replicate ball bounces and roll, the EA team actually reviewed video of PGA Tour events. They then took the ShotLink data to create accurate launch conditions, carry distances and spin rates.

4. Career mode

Tony Finau plays a shot at Pebble Beach in a screen shot from EA Sports PGA Tour.

The Create a Player mode is back, but now you’ll have three options for where to start your career: Playing in amateur events, the Korn Ferry Tour or on the PGA Tour.

In addition to the majors, the game has licensed several PGA Tour events and the three FedEx Cup Playoff events.

To tell the story of your career, the game features hundreds of hours of commentary from Rich Lerner, Frank Nobilo, Notah Begay III, Iona Stephen and Nick Faldo.

There will also be challenges in between tournaments based on real-world events.

In addition to playing as your created player, numerous top pros are included in the game. Some of the announced players are Scottie Scheffler, Nelly Korda, Tony Finau, Jordan Spieth, Danielle Kang, Patrick Cantlay and Lexi Thompson. EA said more will be announced later, and some will be released post-launch.

Pre-orders for the game, which is available only on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X | S and PC, start Thursday while the launch date is set for March 24. The standard edition will go for $69.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is $84.99.

EA's new PGA Tour game features new courses, painstaking details

EA Sports will have 30 courses and 35 brands attached to its PGA Tour video game release on March 24, which is the video game maker’s first effort with the Tour in seven years. Courses making a debut on the game include The Country Club at Brookline (which EA said was the hardest to sign), France’s Evian Resort (home to one of the LPGA’s five majors), the Ocean Course at Kiawah and New Zealand’s Tara Iti. The game, which will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PCs, also will see the return of Augusta National and the Masters to the video game circuit (Take-Two’s PGA Tour 2K23 does not have the event). All four majors will be in the EA title. EA needed to work with each golfer for rights, along with the gear and apparel brands that are in the game. “In Madden, we have the NFL as a partner and the NFLPA as a partner,” said EA Sports Producer Ben Ramsour. “Golf is completely different. … Between each golfer that we license, there's not a players’ association, we license them separately. Every course is its own entity, every brand and apparel company has its own entity. So it's been a lot of fun. Our list is over 100 of those different partners, which are all personal relationships that you develop to help grow the game of golf together.”

TECH SPECS : This game will be the second time EA uses its in-house Frostbyte Engine, which now powers all its games and is known for its stunning visuals. EA’s developers used data from Shotlink and Trackman to compile over 1,300 physics profiles, working on categories such as ball angles, spin and shot dispersion. EA developers were part of the PGA Tour’s pandemic bubble, recording every golfer going into the game to best capture each person’s unique swings to reproduce authentic shots. They even had a helicopter equipped with LIDAR and cameras from a firm called  JMS Geomantics (which maps golf courses)  so they could capture just the undulations, curves and flow of each hole, but also map distinct features like crevices on rocks. Other techniques that helped the developers map courses include GMP mapping and photogrammetry. “We partnered with former geologists that helped us procure this $800,000 laser that's literally designed to find oil reserves and gold mines,” noted Ramsour. “The level of data that we were able to get when we scanned -- it's attached to a helicopter -- is insane. You just you can't even get it from the government that dense. It just allows us to represent the breaks of the course of the terrain slopes absolute perfect detail, to the point where the caddies playing our game are like, ‘Holy cow, this is perfect.’” At Augusta, EA got data from the greenskeepers’ plant health software to track the locations, widths and heights, colors and even branch dispersions of every bush, shrub and tree on the course, as all the foliage has changed since EA last worked with Augusta National. This even includes getting the right color patterns for the azaleas during different times of the year.

Of the 30 golf courses available on Road to the Masters, 28 are real-life, with two being fantasy courses. EA Sports has announced the release date for its first golf video game since 2015 - and it includes a star-studded line-up of 30 "bucket list" layouts from all over the world.

The big news is that Augusta National - which debuted in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour game in 2011 - is back and will be showcased in stunning detail. And not only that, the legendary game maker has created a "Road to the Masters" career mode.

In fact, EA Sports PGA Tour will become the exclusive home to all four men's majors - the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open - which was the feature most sought after by gaming aficionados.

It will also feature the LPGA's Amundi Evian Championship and will be updated with additional live content throughout the 2023 PGA Tour and LPGA Tour seasons.

"We're bringing the premier PGA Tour experience to players around the world with real-world golf data powering incredibly realistic gameplay with every shot, and some of the most iconic courses in the world rendered in painstaking detail," said Cam Weber, EVP and GM of EA Sports.

"From The Old Course at St Andrews Links to Pebble Beach Golf Links and more, we’re giving players the chance to tee off in bucket list golf experiences like never before in EA Sports PGA Tour."

As well as Augusta National and the Old Course, Southern Hills and The Country Club complete the roster of 2022's Major venues. Other notables include Kiawah Island's Ocean Course, Torrey Pines, Evian Resort Golf Club in France, East Lake, TPC Southwind, The Los Angeles Country Club, Bandon Dunes and Tara Iti GC in New Zealand.

As for the gameplay, the all-new Pure Strike software, which uses ShotLink and Trackman, will bring to life some of golf's most iconic courses like never before, delivering lifelike course dynamics and ball behaviour. It will also accurately reflect each golfer's unique swing characteristics across the 20 shot types available.

But don't just take our word for it, check out the official gameplay trailer below:

Furthermore, players will be able to create their own golfer and climb the ranks, competing in everything from the game's elite amateur competitions, all the way through to the FedEx Cup and Major Championships.

In partnership with the LPGA, several female athletes have been added to the game, including Iona Stephen, who will be joining as the first female on-course commentator.

Pre-orders for EA Sports PGA Tour are now available, including the Deluxe Edition where players will receive three-day early access to the game and Augusta National, ahead of the official launch on March 24

'EA Sports PGA Tour' 2023 release date, price, courses, consoles and more on newest golf video game

Those who indulge will be able to play at major championship venues such as augusta national.

pga tour video game courses

EA Sports is officially back in the golf video game space with its impending release of "EA Sports PGA TOUR". Marking its first venture back to the golf scene since "Rory McIlroy PGA Tour" in 2015, the return to consoles will feature stark contrasts compared to those that came before. Having previously featured cover athletes such as McIlroy and primarily Tiger Woods from 1999-2014, this year's edition of the game will not include a big-name superstar on the cover. EA Sports will instead lean on new gameplay options, advanced technology and the inclusion of some of the most storied golf courses around the world.

Below is everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming release of "EA Sports PGA Tour".

Release date

The official release date for "EA Sports PGA TOUR" is Friday, March 24, just two weeks before the 2023 Masters. This makes some sense as the game will feature a Road to the Masters gameplay option.

Price and consoles

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Featuring three different editions, each will come at a different price point. The "Deluxe Edition" is available for pre-order at $84.99 while the "Standard Edition" comes in at $69.99. Lastly, the "EA Play Pro Edition" is listed at $99.99/yr.

The game will include 30 courses in total, and boasts some of the world's most prominent venues such as Augusta National Golf Club, Pebble Beach Golf Links, Southern Hills Country Club, The Old Course at St Andrews Links, The Country Club, Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course, Torrey Pines, Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France, East Lake Golf Club, TPC Southwind, The Los Angeles Country Club, Wilmington Country Club and more. It will also feature the major host courses from 2021 and 2022 as well as the new 2023 majors courses releasing post-launch.

You can play the game as Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Champ, Xander Schauffele, Sungjae Im, Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Hideki Matsuyama.

My Career mode

The game will include a role playing game mode-type progression in the Road to the Masters. As one's golf game improves, the likelihood of donning the green jacket or raising a major championship trophy increases. Users will be able to create and customize a golfer and develop their skills through the 20 different shot types available. From there, players will compete in major championships, participate in some of the PGA Tour's best events -- such as The Players Championship -- and ultimately the FedEx Cup. In addition to this, players can take on top amateur championships including the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the U.S. Amateur and other elite international amateur events.

LPGA and the Amundi Evian Championship

In partnership with the LPGA, fans can compete at The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the LPGA Tour's five major championships. They will also have the opportunity to play as several female athletes as well as create a female golfer in the Create-A-Player feature and be able to participate in a series of LPGA-themed challenges and other events.

New technology

  • True-to-Life course visuals:  EA's Frostbite engine uses state-of-the-art equipment such as drone technology, custom LiDAR flight helicopters and more to develop terrain maps allowing to game to depict courses exactly as they appear in real life
  • ShotLink:  Golfers will authentically be replicated with accurate player ratings, skills and magnified true-to-life in-game events by utilizing the PGA Tour's proprietary real-time scoring system since 2001.
  • Trackman data:  Insights from TrackMan will allow for authentic gameplay utilizing a myriad of stats including club tuning, flight trajectory, landing position and much more.

What about Tiger Woods?

Woods is no longer with the EA Sports family after their partnership from 1999-2014. The 15-time major champion is now with the 2K franchise , and made it known to his followers where they can play as him.

The only way to play as me, and my friends, is in PGA TOUR 2K23, available now. #team2k pic.twitter.com/5lwCJ73o4v — Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods) January 20, 2023
