Back from monster hunter world.

Fast Travel , introduced in Monster Hunter World, makes a triumphant return in Monster Hunter Rise! This allows you to quickly teleport to the main camp or to sub-camps you have unlocked around the map.

How to Unlock Sub-Camps

Second Camp Unlocked

New Sub-Camps are unlocked by finding a campsite location in the locale, then completing a related Request from Kagero the Merchant. Just explore the map until you find a potential campsite location then go back to Kagero to know the details of the delivery!

Potential Sub-Camp locations are not shown on the map, so you'll need to search high and low to find them first.

A hunter from Monster Hunter Rise stands silently

In Monster Hunter Rise , you have to run across several different locales to defeat monsters. While most of the maps aren’t very large, it still takes a bit of time to travel across them. Thankfully, you can locate several sub-camps throughout each stage that act as fast travel locations.

In this Monster Hunter Rise guide, we’ll show you how to locate and unlock all sub-camps in Shrine Ruins , Frost Islands , Sandy Plains , Flooded Forest , and Lava Caverns . We’ll use detailed maps to highlight the exact area to look for each fast travel location. Finally, we’ll explain how to unlock each one.

Table of contents

  • Shrine Ruins sub-camp (1)
  • Frost Islands sub-camps (2)
  • Sandy Plains sub-camps (2)
  • Flooded Forest sub-camp (1)
  • Lava Caverns sub-camps (2)

How to unlock fast travel locations

When you start a hunt in Monster Hunter Rise , you will spawn at the bottom of the map. From there, you must travel by foot or via palamute to your target monster. However, in each map there are either one or two sub-camps to unlock.

Once you locate a sub-camp, you’ll receive a quest for Kagero the Merchant when you return the village. Sub-camps do not instantly unlock after you’ve located them.

After speaking with the shopkeeper, they will give you a different mission to complete depending on which sub-camp you find. You may have to slay several small creatures or deliver a few items to the merchant. Only after you complete the quest can you use the sub-camp location.

To fast travel to a sub-camp location after it’s been unlocked, hold the Minus (-) button down, and then press A to access the fast travel menu. From there you can choose a sub-camp to move to. Once selected, you’ll hop on a wirebug and fly over to the the sub-camp.

Keep in mind that there is no blue item box at sub-camps, so you can’t pick up any free quest items once you’re there. However there will be a tent at your sub-camp after you’ve unlocked it, so you can access items from your larger item box or switch out your equipment.

Lastly, you cannot deliver anything to a sub-camp, like eggs or other large items. If you want to deliver something, you’ll have to take it all the way back to the bottom of the map and use the blue box there.

Monster Hunter Rise Camp Locations: How to Unlock Fast Travel

Image of Josh Broadwell

Finding the Monster Hunter Rise camp locations makes your life much easier. Camps are how you fast travel in  MHR , and they also act as rest areas where you can recover some health and get yourself in order again between hunts.

There are strings attached, though, as you’ll need to complete certain tasks after finding these areas to fully unlock them. This Monster Hunter Rise guide explains how fast travel works and how to unlock all of the camps in the game.

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Rise

Sub-Camps are your fast travel locations in each Monster Hunter Rise map, but they do more than just let you get around quickly from the map menu. These locations also have supply boxes for inventory management and, like their primary counterparts, let you eat a meal to gain bonus effects.

The trouble is, you have to find them first. Once you find a camp location and head back to Kamura, Kagero the merchant gives you a security quest for that region or a materials quest.

Security quests task you with slaying a specific monster or several monsters, such as taking down an Izuchi or hunting eight Zamite. Once you’ve completed the quest, the sub-camp unlocks on the map, and you’re free to use it at any point thereafter.

There’s little indication on the main map where to find these rest locations, though. Here’s are their locations.

Monster Hunter Rise Shrine Ruins Sub-Camp Location

monster hunter rise fast travel

Kagero asks you to hunt eight Izuchi for the Shine Ruins Security quest. These are the normal-sized ones, not the Great Izuchi.

Monster Hunter Rise Frost Islands Sub-Camp Locations

monster hunter rise fast travel

Frost Islands Camp Location 1

One is in the northeast portion of the map, the enclosed area with the wooden structures.

This one unlocks the Frost Islands Sub-Camp Materials quest, where you need to gather two Warm Pelt and four Monster Bone S , but gathering these isn’t limited to the Frost Islands. Head back to Shrine Ruins Sectors 11 and 13 to find some Kelbi and get Warm Pelt .

Frost Islands Location 2

The second is to the southwest and unlocks Frost Islands Security. You’ll slay eight Zamite for this one, which is also a handy way of getting Meaty Hide .

Monster Hunter Rise Sandy Plains Sub-Camps

monster hunter rise fast travel

Sandy Plains Location 1

The first sub-camp in Sandy Plains is just northwest of Sector 3, nestled amongst the ruins there.

Kagero gives you Sandy Plains Sub-Camp Security after you find it, where you’ll have to defeat eight Kestodon , the small dinosaur-looking critters that roam the Plains. Check Sectors 3 and 5 for these.

Sandy Plains Location 2

The second area is up by the oasis south of Sector 9, and the Sandy Plains Sub-Camp Materials quest it unlocks is a bit more complicated.

This time, you need two Monster Bone M and a Lagombi Pelt . Head back to the Frost Islands and take on the giant snow bunny for this one.

Monster Hunter Rise Flooded Forest Sub-Camp Location

There’s just the one site in Flooded Forest. Find it near Sector 11, then come back once Kagero gives you the Flooded Forest Sub-Camp Security quest and slay eight Wroggi .

Monster Hunter Rise Lava Cavern Sub-Camps

monster hunter rise fast travel

Lava Caverns Location 1

Head to Sector 10 of the map, and keep going northeast until you find this site. You’ll need to slay eight Uroktor for the Lava Caverns Sub-Camp Security quest. These are the long-necked, finned creatures that often lurk by the lava itself.

Lava Caverns Location 2

The second is in the ruins between Sectors 6 and 7. The Lava Caverns Sub-Camp Materials quest has you present two Monster Bone L and a Tetranadon Hide to Kagero, so get ready to hunt some frog.

Monster Hunter Rise: How to Fast Travel Around the Map

Here’s how to fast travel, saving you precious time in Monster Hunter Rise.

monster hunter rise fast travel

Published: Apr 20, 2021, 1:20 Updated: Apr 23, 2021, 9:58

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry into the long-running monster slaying series. It keeps much of the systems and features that you’ll recognise if you’ve played a MH game before. There are also new twists like the Wirebug and Palamute, making traversing around the map much faster. Even so, you will want to make use of MH Rise’s Fast Travel system. Here’s how to do so.

Table of Contents

How to fast travel in monster hunter rise, how to fast travel in the village, how to unlock sub-camps, when can't you fast travel.

Read More: Monster Hunter Rise Beginner’s Guide

To Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Rise you will need to be out on a quest. Hold ‘-’ to open the map. You can now select Fast Travel points and immediately spawn elsewhere. Sub-camps are great options here, speeding up farming and allowing you to reach places much faster than when on foot.

The map in Monster Hunter Rise, highlighting Fast Travel points

You can also use Fast Travel to move around Kamura Village. To do so, press the right d-pad input until you find the ‘Move around the Village’ option. Press up to bring up the map and select your destination. This can also be a great way to see if there are any villagers waiting to talk to you. You’ll see a yellow speech bubble next to areas where these requests can be picked up.

To make Fast Travel more useful in MH Rise you will want to unlock Sub Camps around each map. First, you will need to find the locations on the map. Once you have done so you will be given a quest to unlock them by the merchant in Kamura Village. These usually involve slaying small monsters or collecting resources. Once you've completed these missions, sub camps will unlock. You can then fast travel to them.

You can fast travel most of the time while out on a quest. The main exception is if you are in combat. This includes a few seconds after fainting. Just make sure to disengage any monsters in the area before you bring up the map.

Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise – How To Fast Travel

Image of Dean James

Monster Hunter as a series has grown exponentially over the last few years, not only in sales numbers, but overall scale. Prior to Monster Hunter World, the map structure for the games was incredibly basic with load screen with every area on the map. That finally changed and has carried over to Monster Hunter Rise, though on a smaller scale. While searching for the various creatures in the game that you need to kill, having the ability to save some time when moving across the map is very helpful. That is why we have created this guide to tell you how to fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise.

How To Fast Travel

The number of fast travel options you have at your disposal will be minimal to start, such as to warp back to your campsite. However, that will increase the more you play as you unlock more campsites and such that you can use. You will not be able to fast travel to a specific monster either, but hopefully you’ll have a closer location you can warp to and make it easier.

Actually executing fast travel is rather easy as long as you know how to do it, since it’s a little more than just pressing a button and bringing the map up. That is because you actually have to hold down the – button on the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con or Pro Controller to bring up the fast travel map. From there, you can select any of the available icons around you and immediately move to that area after a quick loading screen.

While fast travel can be done from most anywhere in Monster Hunter Rise, there is one limitation that you have to be careful about. That is the fact that you cannot use fast travel when in combat with any sort of monster. This means if you need to warp back to your camp because you are near death or something, you will have to retreat and get away from the enemy before you can actually fast travel anywhere.

Monster Hunter Rise  releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 26. Make sure to check out all of our other guides that you can find right here as well.

Monster Hunter Rise: How to Fast Travel

Image of Chris Jecks

As you’re exploring the world of Monster Hunter Rise , there will likely come a time where you just need to get back to your camp or another area a little bit quicker than simply walking or flying a Wyvern can allow. In these instances, you’ll want to use fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise , and here we’ll talk you through how to do exactly that.

Unlocking Fast Travel

First off, you won’t be able to just use fast travel straight away. The feature will not unlock until you’ve completed the tutorial sections of the game.

After you’ve completed the tutorials, you’ll then be given the freedom to take on whichever quests you want that are available to you.

Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Rise

To fast travel, press and hold down the minus button (-) to open up the map of the world .

From here, simply press A and you’ll then be given the option to select where you want to fast travel to from the little menu in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Select the location you want to fast travel to and press A. The game will then quickly transport you to your desired location so you can carry on grinding out all those monster parts and upgrading your armor.

There you have everything you need to know on how to fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise . For more tips, tricks and guides on the game, head over to our wiki , or check out more of our coverage on the game below.

How to fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise gives players yet another game world filled with monster to defeat, quests to complete, and enormous weapons to swing around their heads. While there are plenty of ways to travel in the game, including flying, everyone looking to efficiently grind knows that fast travel is the best travel of all.

When you begin Monster Hunter Rise, you won’t be able to fast travel. Instead, you will need to play through the various tutorial stages before you will be properly able to dive into the game’s world and fast travel.

Fast traveling itself is fairly simple. Hold the minus button to open up the world map, then hit the A button. A menu will populate showing you all the available fast travel locations and you can pick the one you wish to visit.

You may only fast travel to these set locations, so you will need to pick the one that is closest to your desired location, then hit the A button again to fast travel there.

As convenient as fast travel can be, it is a good idea to travel around the map on foot from time to time. You may discover secrets, find monsters to hunt, or find good farming sources for various resources that you might miss out on if you spend the majority of your time fast traveling.

Monster Hunter Rise sub-camp locations: all base game and new sub-camps from the Sunbreak expansion

Track down every camp in Monster Hunter Rise

Looking for all the sub-camps in Monster Hunter Rise? Campsites provide additional fast travel points around Monster Hunter Rise’s maps and a place to rest, eat, and change your loadout. To unlock each sub-camp, you must find its location, then speak to the merchant in Kamura or Elgado to access an unlock quest. Complete the quest, and that camp will be available as a fast travel destination and tent site forever. Below you’ll find every camp on every map in the game.

This list includes the new Sunbreak maps. So, this guide does contain location spoilers for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! Stop scrolling after Lava Caverns if you wish to avoid new area names and map images.

Shrine Ruins sub-camp locations

The Shrine Ruins sub-camp in Monster Hunter Rise

The Shrine Ruins have just one sub-camp, located in a hollow space on top of the mountain northeast of the Area 10 lake. You will need to use wirebugs to climb up. Grabbing a third wirebug from Area 10 will make this much easier. The Area 10 camp quest requires you to slay 8 Izuchis in the Shrine Ruins.

Frost Islands sub-camp locations

Frost Island sub-camp 1 in Monster Hunter Rise

The Frost Islands have two sub-camps available. The first is in Area 6, in the pit northeast of the Area 6 map marker. To unlock the Area 6 subcamp, you need to slay 6 Zamite in the Frost Islands.

The second Frost Islands sub-camp is in Area 8, on top of the mountain between Areas 8 and 10. Again, you will need your wirebugs to wall-run up and find the campsite. To unlock the camp, you must turn in two Warm Pelts and four Monster Bone S. You can acquire Warm Pelts by carving Kelbi and Anteka. Monster Bone S are found in bonepiles in the Low-Rank versions of all base-game maps.

Sandy Plains sub-camp locations

Sandy Plains sub-camp 1 in Monster Hunter Rise

Sandy Plains also has two sub-camps, spaced similarly to the Frost Islands camps. You will find the first in Area 7, on a hill between the Area 7, 2, and 3 map markers. For the unlock quest, you need to slay 7 Kestodon in Sandy Plains.

The second sub-camp is in the valley in Area 8, directly east of the area 8 map marker. The unlock quest for the Area 8 sub-camp requires a Lagombi Pelt, earned by hunting Low-Rank Lagombi, and two Monster Bone M, a common reward for hunting Low-Rank Great Baggi, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Great Wroggi, Aknosom, Barroth, and Khezu.

Flooded Forest sub-camp location

Flooded Temple sub-camp in Monster Hunter Rise

The Flooded Forest has one sub-camp in the northern third of the map. You will find the campsite inside of a hollow at the top of the mountain east of Area 11. The unlock quest for the Flooded Forest sub-camp requires that you slay 8 Wroggi in the Flood Forest.

Lava Caverns sub-camp locations

Lava Cavers sub-camp 1 in Monster Hunter Rise

Lava Caverns has two sub-camps, one on either side of the great ravine in the center of the map. The first is between the Area 6, 7, and 3 map markers. You will find the campsite in some ruins on top of the surface-level mountains.

The second sub-camp is in the far northeast corner of the volcano, again on the above-ground surface level. You can find this camp at the edge of the mountain, between Area 10 and 11. To unlock it, defeat 8 Uroktor, which you will find in the underground, lava-filled sections of Lava Caverns.

Jungle sub-camp location: Sunbreak spoilers ahead!

The Jungle subcamp in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

The Jungle is the first new location you will visit in the Sunbreak expansion and features one sub-camp. You can find the Jungle sub-camp in the dead center of the map, just north of the massive tree in the middle. The campsite is above ground, on top of the mountain. To unlock it, slay 8 Hermitaurs, which you can find all over the Jungle and in the water areas of Master Rank Shrine Ruins.

Citadel sub-camp location

The location of the Citadel sub-camp in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Citadel is the second new map in Sunbreak, featuring a variety of biomes within the surrounding ruins. You will first travel to the Citadel to fight Garangolm at the start of Master Rank 3 quests. There is one Citadel subcamp, located in the far northeast corner of the map. You can access the campsite through a cave located north of the Area 4 marker, in the cliffs at the edge of the map. To unlock the camp, you will need to slay 8 Boggi, found throughout the Citadel map. Citadel has several small monster spawn locations in the cliffs and valleys surrounding the main paths, so stick to the high ground to more easily spot packs of Boggi.

Monster Hunter Rise Sub Camps | Where to find every fast-travel point

Sub Camps in Monster Hunter Rise offer you new fast travel points to quickly flit between your targets, swap out your weapon for a different challenge, or take on a fast meal to replenish your health and stamina.

There are a total of 8 Sub Camps to discover in Monster Hunter Rise, with each one requiring the completion of a simple task - set by the Merchant in Kamura Village - to unlock.

Here’s how to build every Sub Camp in Monster Hunter Rise.

There are two Sub Camps to choose from in the Frost Islands.

Next, the second Sub Camp is found over in the east. Zip up onto the cliffs with your wirebug and you’ll find the spot inside the circular structure.

Warm Pelt is skinned from Kelbi, and you can slay Zamite in Area 8, Area 11, and in the flooded area north of Area 4.

Lagombi Pelt is found on the large creature of the same name in Frost Islands, while Kestodons are easiest to find in Area 5 and Area 12 of the Sandy Plains.

There’s only one Sub Camp to find in the Flooded Forest, on the southeastern side of Area 11, on top of the tall mountain there.

Use your wirebug to climb up, then return to Kamura Village.

Wroggi are easiest to find in Area 11 of the Flooded Forest, but also accompany the Great Wroggi large creature, which often spawns in Flooded Forest expeditions.

Finally, there are two more Sub Camps to find in the Lava Caverns.

The first is in the east of the map, at the top of the hill in Area 10. You’ll probably have to use your wirebug to get up to the top of the surface level, or use the Great Wirebug in Area 9 to launch yourself over the lava.

monster hunter rise fast travel

To find the second Sub Camp in the west of the map, stay on the surface level, and it’s on a mountain high above Area 3 and Area 6.

Uroktors are quite easy to find in Area 14, Area 12, Area 5, and Area 4. While the Tetranadon can be found in many different places - like Rampages and main missions.

How to fast travel to Kamura Village - Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

At the start of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak you will be unable to get back to Kamura Village. Here's when it unlocks and how to get back.

Sam Chandler

When players first start Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, they’ll find themselves in Elgado Outpost, far from their home of Kamura Village. While it does have a lot of fun new things to do, some may wonder how to get back to Kamura Village to check in on the other characters. The good news is that it’s simple!

Fast travel to Kamura Village

When you first start Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the game will inform you that you will be unable to travel back to Kamura Village for a short time. It will tell you to take a moment before you set off on your journey. However, you can return to Kamura Village a few minutes after you reach Elgado Outpost – so it’s not that bad.

monster hunter rise sunbreak get back to kamura village

To get back to Kamura Village, you will need to speak with everyone and complete the Switch Skill Swap introduction quest. Once this quest is done, you can speak with Chichae and she will let you know that you can travel back to Kamura Village.

There are two main ways to fast travel to Kamura Village. Firstly, you can speak with Collen the Sailor in the Market who will ferry you back to Kamura. Alternatively, and arguably the best way, is to simply use the world map.

The world map has now been expanded with two locations that you can tab between. There is Kamura Village and Elgado Outpost. You can travel between these two locations freely at any time after you’ve completed Master Utsushi’s Switch Skill Swap quest.

Before you decide to embark on your Sunbreak journey, chat with people around Kamura Village to turn in any quests you might be holding or pick up any you need. When you’re ready, you can set off. The good news is that you won’t need to return to Kamura Village (unless you’re missing Requests and Deliveries) as Elgado Outpost has all the services you need.

With fast travel to Kamura Village unlocked, you can get back to the original hub world at any point in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Be sure to check out our Monster Hunter Rise page for more information and helpful guides.

Monster Hunter Rise

How To Fast Travel In Monster Hunter Rise

Image of Francesco De Meo

Fast travel hasn’t always been a thing in the Monster Hunter series. Keeping true to its hardcore action experience, most entries in the series do not provide any way to travel quickly from one location to another, but things have changed with Monster Hunter World, which is not too surprising, considering the game’s world was no longer divided into unconnected areas. The previous entry in the series is the first one that allows hunters to travel from one camp to another on any map, and these mechanics are also coming back in Monster Hunter Rise .

So, how do you fast travel in Monster Hunter Rise and how useful it really is? Let’s find out.

How To Fast Travel

Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Rise is extremely straightforward . This mechanic lets you move quickly between different campsites that you have unlocked on the field. As this guide is based on the playable demo, it is not yet clear what you need to do to unlock them.

The only thing you will need to do to fast travel is holding the – button to open the detailed map and then press the A button to select the location where you want to fast travel. Please keep in mind that it is not possible to fast travel while in combat, so do not expect to use fast traveling as a way to conveniently escape from danger.

Fast travel can also be used in the Kamura Village to move quickly between facilities , something that makes preparing for any hunt smoother than ever. With the addition of Wirebug mechanics , moving around the field has never been as smooth as it is in Monster Hunter Rise.

Japanese gaming giant Capcom reports a surprising sales figure for its Monster Hunter franchise which will likely continue to rise.

Capcom has now opted to slash those prices as part of a mid-June 2024 sale. The limited-time promotion brings the price of Monster Hunter: World down to the historically low figure of $9.99 on consoles and $9.89 on PC. The critically acclaimed Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter: World is also part of the sale, having been discounted by up to 63%, depending on the platform. Alternatively, the Iceborne Digital Deluxe edition of the game can currently be picked up for under $20. Steam and PlayStation users have until the 12th and 13th of June, respectively, to take advantage of these offers. Meanwhile, the equivalent Xbox deals on Monster Hunter: World and its DLC will be live until June 17, as per their Microsoft Store listings.

Monster Hunter Games On Sale Right Now

Aside from the hit 2018 game, Capcom's latest sale also includes the 2021 Monster Hunter: Rise , which is currently available at 75% off across all platforms. The hefty discount brings the action RPG down to $9.99, which is another historical low. The widely successful Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise is part of the sale as well, available for just under $16. Prospective buyers who haven't yet experienced the base game can also grab its complete edition for $19.79. The promotion includes the original Switch version of Monster Hunter Rise , which will be on sale until June 20. The rest of the offers are set to end alongside the currently available Monster Hunter: World discounts.

Price-conscious gamers determined to only pick up one of the newly discounted RPGs will have to make a purchase decision based on their personal preferences; both games have been widely praised by fans and critics alike, so there's no universal answer to the question of which is better: Monster Hunter: World or Rise . Players who want a traditional Monster Hunter experience that's challenging but fair may like MH: World better, especially if they favor semi-realistic graphics over highly stylized visuals. Meanwhile, MH: Rise is a different kind of experience that revolves around more fast-paced and forgiving combat, not least because of a much higher level of character mobility that it offers.

Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter is an action role-playing franchise from Capcom that, as the name suggests, tasks players with tracking down and killing enormous monsters of various species.  The main series games are often big hits with critics, particularly thanks to how enjoyable the games are with friends.

Monster Hunter Wilds is full of 'harsh and unforgiving' weather and will let you switch between 2 weapons on a hunt

We now have our first look at how the Monster Hunter World followup plays.

People say it's boring to talk about the weather, but did you see that real-time sandstorm in the Monster Hunter Wilds trailer just now? Did you catch the bit near the end where lightning strikes the fins of some dinosaur-like creature roaming the desert? Forget boring—I have a feeling the weather's practically all we're going to be able to talk about when Monster Hunter Wilds arrives next year.

More than any other game in the series so far, Wilds looks like it's focusing on making the environments a major player in the hunting experience, with natural phenomena like sandstorms, quicksand, and lightning storms all coming into play. We've still seen far too little to know how deep these systems will go, but it's exactly what I was hoping for from the next Monster Hunter—while many longtime players like our own Rich Stanton loved Rise , I found it a bit too streamlined for my taste, without much actual "hunting" involved. I want to see Capcom go deeper on the interplay between different monsters and with their environments, and that seems to be exactly what Wilds is going for.

At one point in the trailer we see a big monster grappling with several smaller beasties who've leapt onto its back and locked their jaws, while in another a whole herd seem to be ganging up on our hunter. This behavior is almost as exciting as the final moment of the trailer, when he seemingly pries a charging beast's mouth open with his greatsword. That's pretty sick.

The official website has a smattering of new info that expands on what I spotted in the trailer:

  • "The Seikret is an animal mount whose exceptional agility will provide the hunter with critical support out on hunts. Its well-developed sense of smell allows it to guide you automatically to your current objective, or any location you select on the map."
  • "Your Seikret isn't just for travel, though—you can also stash an extra weapon in its sling, allowing you to switch between two weapons of your choice while out on hunts ."
  • "Each hunting locale features an environment with two dynamically changing identities: one in which the region is harsh and unforgiving where ravenous monsters fight for limited resources—and another in which the region is vibrant and brimming with life. Changes in the environment also means changes for the monsters and wildlife that live there, so you'll be running into new surprises around every corner."
  • "You'll encounter not only herds of small monsters—some of the large monsters of the region may also form packs. Each group has its own place in the ecosystem, with its own unique movements and behaviors."
  • New monsters include Doshaguma, a "rugged, territorial fanged beast that exhibits an aggressive disposition and inhabits a large range" and Chatacabra, "a large species of amphibians that use the adhesive quality of their saliva to affix stones to their forelimbs in order to power up their attacks."
  • "The hook slinger is the newest evolution of the slinger, allowing you to gather all types of materials from a distance . It can be used while mounted on a Seikret, and can even be used to interact with certain environmental objects to trigger traps."

Wilds is due out sometime in 2025.

The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Wes has been covering games and hardware for more than 10 years, first at tech sites like The Wirecutter and Tested before joining the PC Gamer team in 2014. Wes plays a little bit of everything, but he'll always jump at the chance to cover emulation and Japanese games.

When he's not obsessively optimizing and re-optimizing a tangle of conveyor belts in Satisfactory (it's really becoming a problem), he's probably playing a 20-year-old Final Fantasy or some opaque ASCII roguelike. With a focus on writing and editing features, he seeks out personal stories and in-depth histories from the corners of PC gaming and its niche communities. 50% pizza by volume (deep dish, to be specific).

I was shocked to find out that not only is Hyper Light Drifter's studio working on a second new project, it's a return to 2D with action inspired by 'platform fighters' like Super Smash Bros

What year is it? Because the O.G. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is finally getting the arcade brawler tie-in it deserved in the '90s
