Graceland – Elvis Entourage VIP Tour

You can spend an entire day exploring all things Elvis with this tour at Graceland – the singer's former mansion. The package includes a VIP shuttle to the estate. After you arrive, skip the lines, view an orientation film and then proceed with an audio-guided tour of the property. Other highlights include an exclusive VIP exhibit and full access to Elvis Presley's Memphis Entertainment Complex. At this facility, you can tour museums that feature Elvis' car collection, his famous jumpsuits and additional exhibits about his life outside of the entertainment industry. There are even several interactive games and exhibits to try. Elvis fans rave about the experience and say they can still feel his presence in the house. They also remark that there is a phenomenal amount of memorabilia that is meticulously maintained. Tickets start at $124 per person. Children younger than 5 can tour for free. Memphis Best Tours – City Tour

This three-hour bus ride gives tour-takers an introduction to downtown Memphis and sights along the Mississippi River. Notable attractions include the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel , the B.B. King statue and the Memphis Pyramid. The bus also stops at Beale Street , Sun Studio and the Peabody Memphis , home of the Peabody ducks . Tours depart daily at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets cost around $30 for adults and $22 for children. Prices include round-trip transportation from select downtown hotels . Reviewers enjoy the informative guides and learning about the history of the city. The company offers several other tours, including a few Elvis-themed excursions.

Backbeat Tours – Walking Ghost Tour

Head out for a two-hour walking tour that delves into the city's haunted history and some of its lesser-known characters. Stops include Earnestine & Hazel's, the Orpheum Theatre and Gayoso Avenue. As you walk, guides will share tales of the dearly departed. Tourgoers rave about the knowledge and insight of the guides. They also comment that the tour involves a lot of walking, so wear supportive shoes. Tours are available at 8 or 8:30 p.m. nightly; hours may vary in the winter. Prices start at $20 for participants 13 years and older and $13 for children 7 to 12. Children 6 and younger tour free. Tastin' 'Round Town – Memphis BBQ Tastin' Food Tour

Skip lunch and bring your appetite for this roughly four-hour walking food tour that focuses on one of the city's most delicious traditions: barbecue. Patrons comment that they appreciate learning about the history of the city as much as they enjoy the food. Some also remark that it's one of the best food tours they have ever taken. During the tour, pig out on dry-rubbed and sauced ribs, barbecue spaghetti, pork nachos and pulled pork at eateries like Central BBQ, A&R BBQ and Arnold's BBQ & Grill. Tours begin at 2 p.m. and are available Tuesday through Friday. Prices start at $70 per person. The company also offers tours of the city's food scene as a whole, as well as a tour that combines its barbecue heritage with chef-inspired eats.

Memphis Riverboats – Sightseeing Cruise

Go rolling on the mighty Mississippi – North America's second-longest river – for a unique perspective of the city's landscape. This 90-minute paddlewheel boat cruise includes live narration covering the past and present history of life along the Mississippi. There are restrooms on board and refreshments are available for purchase. Patrons offer mostly positive reviews and say that it's an enjoyable experience. Others comment that the boat gets crowded and the sights aren't interesting. The operating schedule varies by season, but from May through October there are daily tours at 2:30 p.m. with an additional 5 p.m. tour on Saturday and Sunday. Prices start at $20 for adults; discounts are available for children and seniors. Memphis Riverboats also offers a dinner and music cruise.

A pleasure in Dubai & Abu Dahbi

First I want to thank the company for helping me locate my luggage from the airlines, Then I must say it was a pleasure traveling with Memphis, always on time. My only concern was my hotel was not in the center of town. In Dubai and in Abu Dahbi was just a wonderful place too but again I paid extra for an upgrade and it was a dirty hotel, far away from my elevator and not clean in my room. I think a better hotel would be better.

An Awesome Turkey Tour

Basma was very helpful when planning my trip to Turkey from Toronto! Everything was wonderful, and we had an incredible time. It was a trip of a lifetime. I took domestic flights to different cities with my father, and we got to enjoy different parts of turkey. One of our flights was slightly delayed, but we were still able to see everything on the itinerary. Most importantly, as a healthcare worker, i was not getting time to thoroughly plan this trip and i put my trust in Basma and her team. Her team delivered. I will definitely book with this agency again in the future

A Great Adventure

Had engaged the services of Memphis Tours for a family trip to Egypt a couple of years ago. All went well. This time around we explored Turkey. Fatima at Memphis Tours could not have been more helpful, attending to all inquires in a timely, friendly manner. The trip itself was flawless. Our guides in Istanbul (Ahmet) and Cappdocia (Mehmet) were personable and informative. Would highly recommend.

Very good service

Very good service, very friendly guide, interesting attractions and a well-organized circuit for the time of the tour. Our Cappadocia tour guide Erdi was great and Kuradasi Madiha took us on the tour super nice. And the guy who helped us at the airport Yusuf Eyvaz. Highly recommended. Trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi - Best Service

This was our first visit to Dubai / Abu Dhabi and we wanted to partner with someone who can guide us and ensure there were no challenges with our travel to UAE. Do not use Memphis Tours

They will tell you what you want to hear, act like they are trying to make you happy and make things right, and then do the exact opposite. We had an absolutely terrible experience with them on our Cairo tour. Their main office does not communicate with staff. Also, at one point they suggested instead of a refund we should commit insurance fraud to get our money back via our trip insurance. They said, "Write a number and we will sign it for your insurance company." No. No. No. Sooooo shady. There is much more to our story, but I think this is enough to warn others off.

The trip to Egypt was amazing and very…

The trip to Egypt was amazing and very informative. The guided tours to the pyramids, temples and tombs were fantastic, but the shopping portion of the tour was absolutely a RIP off. We went to the perfumery and the presentation had me sold after smelling all those amazing scents. I purchased 400.00 USD worth of oils. Now that I'm back home and starting to use the oils I can't buy any smells. I used the oils straight out of the bottle and mixed with unscented lotions and still nothing. I trusted the word of my tour guide and went full in. I'm totally disappointed in the final product. I feel like I was robbed while freely giving my hard earned dollars to them. I will not recommend this portion of the trip to any future traveler.

Mephis Tours Aqaba

Booked a 4 hour guided tour of Aqaba/Jordan with MemphisTours (not sure who the local provider was). It was supposed to be an englishspeaking driver, and allthough very friendly and helpful, he did not know anything about Aqaba. He told me he was from Amman. According to the Itinerary: Enjoy Aqaba City tour during your stay in Aqaba. Your tour driver will pick you up from your hotel in Aqaba to enjoy a remarkable Aqaba Tour, Jordan, visiting the Aqaba Mamluk Fortress and Aqaba Museum. Then you can visit the Aqaba Aquarium at the Marine Science Station Complex, to see colorful shoals of beautiful fish. All I got to see was the Aqarium!! I have no complaints about the driver who did his best, but what a disapointing city tour- which was not a city tour at all- I learned nothing about Aqaba...I do not recommend others to waste their money on this tour...

Tunisia trip

Fatima, the rep from Memphis Tours, organised my Tunisia trip at short notice and gave me an all inclusive package at such a great price that I couldn't refuse! I had a fantastic time there and my guide Hammadi and driver Aymen were brilliant. Tunisia is a beautiful country with lovely Roman architecture and so much history and the locals were friendly. Thumbs up to Memphis Tours

I had never heard of memphis Tours until I started exploring possible Nile cruises. I was attracted to the idea of a smaller boat cruise and happened upon Memphis tours. I sent off an email with a series of questions and quickly received a reply with all the answers. After several emails they found me the ideal 5 day/4 night cruise on the Nubia Nile dahabiya. There were only 10 passengers and the crew were terrific. Esraa was my contact at Memphis and I never had to wait long for replies to my many questions. Memphis Tours helped my wife and I complete a Dream Vacation in Turkey, Egypt and Jordan!

My wife and I recently completed an exciting and wonderful and unforgettable 3 week tour of Turkey, Egypt and Jordan that was customized for us by Ayman Fawzy of Memphis Tours. The trip involved 12 plane flights, a Nile River Cruise, expert English speaking guides, great hotels and transportation. We never experienced a single glitch even when transferring from one country to the next. The handovers were smooth and we were kept informed every step of the way. Egypt/Turkey Tour

We booked a trip to Egypt and Turkey with Memphis Tours. We had an amazing time in both countries. All of pick up at times at airports and hotels were perfect. The hotels booked were very nice and the tours were private or small group with excellent guides. Our tour consultant with Memphis Tours was Mina Ramsies. Great itinerary

The tour was pleasant and we saw a lot in the short days we were in Mocorro. Positives: Ameen, our Driver, was amazing! He was with us the whole weeks and gave really good recommendations. He showed a lot of flexibility and professionalism all throughout. If I go back to Morocco, I would like to request him again. Probably one of the best guides/drivers I've ever had. Two tour guides, Yousef and Najat, were incredible, knowledgeable, organized, and fun. The landmarks we visited with them in Rabat and Casablanca were splendid. They shared the history and key facts of each spot and got to the point. I highly recommend them. Improvements: One particular guide was not as organized and was too focused on shopping stops. We were not expecting to spend our Marrakesh day on three different shops. One hotel booked our rooms facing a nightclub that closed at 5:00 am in Marrakesh. We could not sleep well two nights in a row. I would recommend staying away from this hotel for future tours. Overall, I think I will use Memphis Tours in the future. Thank you!

The experience in Greece was amazing

The experience in Greece was amazing. Ayman was there to accomodate our needs and to our budget. The hotel were very clean and well maintained..the service was excellent. Congressman Cohen Applauds Economic Impact of xAI Gigafactory in Memphis

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company makes major investment

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today cheered the announcement that Elon Musk’s xAI company will be building the largest and most powerful supercomputer in history – the Gigafactory of Compute -- in the former Electrolux oven factory in Southwest Memphis, and made the following statement:

“This is great news for Memphis and the Memphis economy and will make our region a focus for the future of artificial intelligence. Mr. Musk’s smart decision to locate his supercomputer in Memphis will be a boon to our growing tech industry, attract new businesses and create good jobs. I congratulate Greater Memphis Chamber President and CEO Ted Townsend and his team for guiding and coordinating this major victory for Memphis.”

How Luka Dončić, Kyrie Irving became ‘connected for the rest of their lives’

When Kyrie Irving first arrived in Dallas last February, swirling in controversy, the Mavericks knew they must actively help build a relationship between him and superstar centerpiece Luka Dončić .

God Shammgod, the legendary dribbler who has been a Dallas assistant coach for nearly a decade, immediately declared the two would work out together as much as possible. Then-majority owner Mark Cuban arranged several team dinners, and Shammgod made sure bottles of wine were available for extended hangouts between him and the two stars.

“A lot of people that were saying stuff, (but) they don’t know them,” Shammgod said. “I know both of them. I knew they both wanted to win.”

In fairness, even given the competitive desire, there were plenty of reasons to doubt this partnership would work — and the whole world, it seemed, indeed doubted that it would.

Dallas’ trade for Irving , one it eyed even as the league’s perception of Irving cratered to its lower point, had countless questions. The eight-time All-Star had played in only 103 games over the three seasons prior, sitting out games due to local vaccination policies, on-court injuries and a suspension for posting a link to a documentary with antisemitic views on his social media. There were concerns about his actions, his availability, his fit with Dončić’s ball dominance. About his untimely exits, through trades he requested or promises he broke, at all three past franchises.

Contrast that with where the Mavs sit at this point, just 15 months later, where Dončić and Irving tease each other in NBA Finals news conferences and refer to each other as “brothers,” and  it’s almost impossible to believe.

Even though the Mavericks did their best to microwave the Luka-Kyrie partnership, the bond seen now didn’t come right away. It took time, patience and ultimately an overseas trip last fall for the full potential of the superstar tandem to be unlocked, a journey that sent them to the franchise’s first NBA finals since 2011.

“They’re gonna be connected for the rest of their lives,” Shammgod said. “So when you have that type of greatness, we should all just sit back and watch it unfold.”

Here’s how Dončić and Irving became forever united.

A disastrous two-month stretch followed the Irving trade. The initial honeymoon phase couldn’t withstand last season’s losses.

When Dallas fell out of the Play-In entirely and to 11th place in the West, those preexisting doubts made Irving an easy scapegoat.

Behind closed doors, Mavericks executives fretted about the team’s future, about Irving’s impending free agency and even about Dončić’s long-term trust in the franchise. Though Dončić said after the last game there was “nothing to worry about” regarding his future in Dallas, he admitted “some things (have) to change, for sure.” Mark Cuban, still the team’s majority owner, said late in the season that the team had “to earn (Dončić’s loyalty).”

When Dončić sat down for his final media appearance of the season at the American Airlines Center, he was alone.

Not only was Irving not beside him, but the unrestricted free agent had already left the building, skipping his final chat with reporters entirely to disappear into his summer. He had made no commitment to return to Dallas, who had traded two starters and an unprotected future first-round pick for him two months earlier.

Dončić wanted Irving back and said it. “We’ve got to make it work,” he had said when the trade first happened. He knew it took time and off-court trust. When the season ended so dismally two short months later, the duo had played only 16 games together. It really wasn’t much more than meet-and-greet.

Despite those demoralizing defeats, Dončić had seen enough on-court moments of genius to convince him the partnership could work. Dallas had, too. The team understood Irving had little to do with its collapse. Rather, it was ongoing roster issues — a lack of talent around those two, really — that doomed those final months. The franchise also knew its coach, Jason Kidd, had Irving’s respect since meeting him in Kidd’s own playing days, and Nico Harrison, its general manager, also had a preexisting relationship with Irving from his time as a Nike executive.

On July 1, free agency’s first day, Irving agreed to a three-year contract worth $126 million to return. It was a reconfirmation of the belief in this duo.

“When you have Hall of Fame players,” Shammgod said, “how can it not work?

Three months later, Irving boarded the plane to embark on the team’s international preseason tour to Abu Dhabi and Madrid.

It was this preseason trip where the two superstars’ relationship began sprouting into a brotherhood that will bond them for life.

In Abu Dhabi, Dallas twice played the Minnesota Timberwolves , the same team it would vanquish nine months later to advance to the finals. The players were besieged with corporate sponsors and other league-required appointments, highly social activities Dončić prefers to avoid. As teammate Markieff Morris said, “(Dončić’s) a real quiet, to-himself type guy.”

Irving can be, too, but he wasn’t on this trip. Instead, team employees present on that trip noted how Irving shined in those moments. A few players had brought family with them, but Irving’s wife and children seemed to appear at every event. After committing to the franchise that summer, Irving was opening up every part of his life to the team around him.

“I think Luka realized on that trip that Kai’s comfortable with the attention and people love Kai,” said one team employee present on that trip, who requested anonymity to speak openly. “So he can be all the things Luka is not.”

When Dallas relocated to Spain, away from the scheduled bustle, Irving and Dončić finally had time to breathe easier. Many team employees believe it was this leg of the trip, specifically, that set up the team’s success this season.

There were nights that extended into the “wee hours” that eventually included just Dončić, Irving  and Morris, the team’s veteran reserve who arrived in the Irving trade. “They were enjoying each other’s company,” recalled Morris, adding there were at least a couple late nights. It was these evenings where Irving expressed more of his own life experiences, both in teamwide settings and in smaller ones with Dončić.

“It always helps when people understand each other’s lives more,” forward Maxi Kleber said. “That trip definitely helped.”

It was also on that trip where Dončić learned his teammates much preferred Irving’s presence as a DJ. “(It was) terrible,” said teammate Josh Green , recalling Dončić’s takeover one night at a team event. Kleber, the roster’s only other European, defended Dončić’s Spanish and Slovenian playlist even while admitting most teammates groaned.

Even on-court working moments between Dončić and Irving stood out. Shammgod continued having the star duo work out together, and Dončić has developed an ongoing HORSE competition against Irving that continues today. (Irving often seals his wins with left-handed shots.) But before Dallas’ first game against Real Madrid, Dončić’s teenaged club, Dončić suffered a calf sprain that limited him to just five minutes in the matchup. It threatened to send what had been such a high-spirited mood into a gloomier place.

Even after Dončić’s injury, Irving kept messing with him. Whenever Dončić shot off to the side, unable to participate in the team’s preseason practices, it was Irving who would yell out, “Luka, you need help?”

It was Irving’s joking attempt, always unsuccessful, to skip out on the serious preseason practices. But employees present at the practice say Irving was also attempting to lift Dončić’s spirits, which had been crushed by his inability to fully participate in a preseason game that had been years in the making.

“With Kyrie being so positive, being so driven by team-team-team first, it’s literally just showing Luka and teaching Luka how to be the best leader and true pro out there,” said teammate Tim Hardaway Jr. “It makes the guys around him want to compete for Dončić.”

Irving’s leadership, fostered by the very organization to which he had committed, has remained constant this entire season.

Teammates and employees have seen Dončić take after Irving’s dedication to his routines. After the team’s opening defeat in its semifinal matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder , Dončić told the coaches and medical staff at the following day’s practice he planned to skip extra evening treatment for his sprained right knee. He told them he just wanted one night off.

That night, the league announced Nikola Jokić as the season’s Most Valuable Player. Dončić finished in a distant third place to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander , the superstar foe who was across from him in that series.

A few minutes after the announcement — which Dončić had sworn he wouldn’t even watch — he texted those Mavericks trainers he had changed his mind. He would, in fact, work out that night.

Dončić downplayed the MVP announcement when asked about that moment. “I knew I wasn’t going to win it,” he told The Athletic last week. “I just knew I had to keep my routine.”

“Kyrie has his routine to take care of his body, and Luka’s seeing all of that, embracing all of it, and it shows,” Hardaway said. “Seeing Luka from his rookie year to now, it’s a full 180.”

Dončić’s effect on Irving can be seen, too. He’s helping his co-star have fun again.

“Luka’s learned discipline seeing Kai’s everyday routine,” Shammgod said. “And I really believe Kai, with Luka, learned to have joy in the way he plays.”

It’s hard not to smile at the childlike delight Dončić puts into trick shots and friendly competitions. Dallas has intentionally cultivated that spirit, especially since Kidd and Harrison took over for the messy regimes that came before them. Both have worked to build a culture grounded in positivity and patience, where basketball is framed as one of life’s athletic endeavors rather than in life-or-death terms. Wins and losses matter, but more so in the context of the journey taken.

That approach could sound trite without witnessing it. When Shammgod was asked about it, he spoke for almost 15 minutes uninterrupted about how he attempts to instill this mindset on a daily basis, ones which included phrases like, “I don’t mean to get too deep, but we’re born to be relationship beings,” and, “What’s the sense of winning if you don’t have joy?”

“I always want to make sure everybody’s having fun and it’s built on love. When you do that, how can it fail? Everything in here is love,” Shammgod said. “We meet everybody where they’re at. Wherever you at in life, that’s where we meet you.”

Irving had been engulfed in turmoil, much of it his own creation ( even by his own admission ), before Dallas lifted him out from the Brooklyn Nets. Another situation burned beyond repair. What he found in Dallas wasn’t just another team, but a radically different culture spread out around him, which crept into his own life, as well.

“Coming into Dallas I was dealing with a lot — mentally, spiritually, emotionally — and they embraced me with open arms,” Irving said at that joint news conference with Dončić.

There’s also a mutual respect that Irving and Dončić share that not even their teammates can totally understand. “They’re both geniuses,” Shammgod said. Their shared understanding of the basketball court, which very few others in the world experience, has driven their on-court bound and, in turn, the one away from it.

“I think Kyrie has found a home, not a house,” Morris said. “He’s found a place where people love him, they care about his needs.”

A month ago, Dončić and Irving sat next to each other, still slicked with sweat from the game they had just won.

They had led the Mavericks past the LA Clippers — their first series won together — and onto the next round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs while scoring or creating 22 of the team’s points in the final quarter. Now they were scoring each other’s news conference answers.

“Yeah, I agree,” said Irving, replying not to a question but an answer Dončić had just given. “That was good.”

Dončić grinned, looking away from his superstar running mate to suppress his laugh. When the next question was directed to Irving, he pumped his fist. Once again, a chance for Irving to take over when Dončić preferred not. Then he rested his hand on the back of Irving’s chair, a physical extension of appreciation for everything that the 32-year-old guard has meant to him in a season that now has Dallas, and for the first time Dončić, in the NBA Finals.

Dončić and Irving were asked what they meant to each other, both “as a brother” and “as a teammate.”

“Oh, we’re getting emotional now,” Dončić said, laughing as he looked at Irving.

“Oh, you wanna talk about it?” he replied.

Dončić replied, “Go ahead. You get the long speeches.” But he answered first anyway.

“When he (arrived), he was nothing but supportive,” Dončić said. “Everything we did, it helped him mature a lot. I realized how to see the game in a different way. Obviously, on the court, he’s amazing to play with. It’s a joy to play with him. The leader he’s been, it’s always positive energy.”

Irving, true to form, answered with even more depth about the shared appreciation he and Dončić have for each other.

“This guy next to me has continued to push me to work on my game and continue to develop as a young leader.

“I don’t have a perfect journey, coming into this environment, I wasn’t sure how we were going to work out on the court, but off the court I knew I would get him to open up,” Irving said. “This guy’s a big teddy bear off the court at times. A big competitor. He’s still ducking me in dominoes. But at times, I just have to sit back and marvel at his talent, to get outside his comfort zone. I enjoy watching him be a father, I enjoy watching him develop as a person first, and the basketball stuff will take care of itself. I enjoy how skilled he is, but I wanna be a teammate and a brother next to him that helps him grow as a man and helps him achieve what he wants to achieve.”

And what they’ve achieved, a finals appearance, is exactly what Dončić hoped would happen when Dallas took the risk to make Irving his superstar running mate. But as Dončić sat alone after last season ended, the worst year of his basketball life just concluded, even he couldn’t have imagined how that relationship would become something more than that.

He’s not alone anymore.
