It was found in 1681 by Muddu Raja, the prince of the Haleri dynasty and was named as Muddurajakeri. Later, it became Madikeri . Moreover, besides being adept agriculturists, they are hospitable and warm-welcoming.

If one wants to enlist Madikeri tourist places , it will be a long and an interesting one starting with Omkareshwar Temple, which is a perfect blend of Catholic, Keralite, Gothic and Islamic styles of architecture.
