It was found in 1681 by Muddu Raja, the prince of the Haleri dynasty and was named as Muddurajakeri. Later, it became Madikeri . Being one of the most picturesque hill stations of South India, Madikeri is a place with nature at its best. People of this place call themselves as children of River Cauvery and worship it. Moreover, besides being adept agriculturists, they are hospitable and warm-welcoming.

If one wants to enlist Madikeri tourist places , it will be a long and an interesting one starting with Omkareshwar Temple, which is a perfect blend of Catholic, Keralite, Gothic and Islamic styles of architecture.
