Kid Cudi (born January 30th, 1984) is an indie singer, rapper and songwriter originally from Cleveland, Ohio whose music is a unique blend of laid-back hip-hop and rock.

Cudi is known for his autobiographical lyrics. His songs are often 3 his childhood hardships, depression, isolation, and struggles with substance abuse. The themes of spirituality, heartbreak, and celebration permeate his music. His live performances are widely recognized as being an incredibly energized take on a hip-hop and rock show combined with a positive outlook and party atmosphere.

Cudi has sold over 22 million records in the U.S. He has been nominated for five Grammy Awards and won. He has often been cited as an influence on a number of contemporary hip-hop and alternative acts. Cudi has collaborated with several prominent artists across many different genres, including Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, David Guetta, Shakira, MGMT, Mary J. Blige, Michael Bolton, and Steve Aoki.

Cudi has worked extensively with the Brooklyn-based record label, Fool’s Gold, responsible for the likes of A Track, Lil B, and Danny Brown. He also launched his own record label, Wicked Awesome Records, in 2011.

Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, Kid Cudi grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, the youngest of four children. His father died when he was only 11 years old, and his passing profoundly impacted Cudi’s songwriting and musical style.

Kid Cudi adopted his stage name at the dawn of his career, which began after he moved to New York in 2005 with $500, a demo tape, and dreams of becoming a rapper. He released his first single, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” on his MySpace page in 2007. It gained traction across a number of music blogs and eventually got the attention of Cudi’s future mentor, Kanye West. With the support of West, Cudi released his first mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, in July 2008.

Around the same time, the Italian electronic duo Crookers released a prominent remix of “Day ‘n’ Nite.” This created a huge amount of online buzz for Kid Cudi and provided a solid fan base from which to launch his debut conceptual album, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day” toward the end of 2009. Popular tracks from the album included “Make Her Say” and “Pursuit of Happiness,” the latter of which received an acclaimed cover by rocker Lissie.

A year after the release of his first album, Cudi released a sequel, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Although this album did not reach the same success as his first, Cudi’s second work was still well-received. It was certified gold by the RIAA and reached number three on the Billboard charts.

In 2010 Kid Cudi joined forces with Dot da Genius and taught himself to play guitar to form the rock-rap band WZRD. The band released its music on Dot’s own label, Dream On Records. However, due to creative differences Dream On was dissolved and instead WZRD’s material was released on Cudi’s own label, Wicked Awesome, in 2012. Cudi followed up in 2013 with his third solo album, Indicud, which featured HAIM, A$AP Rocky, and Father John Misty, the former drummer from Fleet Foxes.

Cudi released his third solo album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, in February 2014. Released with little promotion, it flew under the radar in comparison to Cudi’s earlier success.

In 2015, Cudi officially released the song “Love,” which samples “Sunblocks” by Ratatat. A new album release was announced later that year, and the lead song, “Confused!” was released soon after. Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven dropped in December 2015. Two additional songs were subsequently released from the album: “Judgemental Cunt” and “Wedding Tux.”

Cudi initially announced a new tour, dubbed the Especial Tour, but it was canceled later that year due to production problems and unspecified personal issues. As a consolation for his fans, Cudi released the title track from the album as another single.

In March 2016, Kid Cudi headlined the McDowell Mountain Music Festival in Phoenix, Arizona. Shortly after, he announced a new album would be coming soon. Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ was officially released that December. The album was a commercial success and featured guest vocals by Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, and André 3000. Cudi performed his song “Kitchen” live with a string orchestra on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote the album’s release, and launched a U.S. concert tour promoting the album.

In 2018, Cudi and Kanye West partnered to create the group Kids See Ghosts. Together, they produced a self-titled album, released in June 2018.

In 2020, Cudi announced a single with Eminem titled “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.” The song was highly successful, debuting in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Cudi also released a teaser video of his forthcoming album, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, the last installment in the Man on the Moon series.

Man on the Moon III: The Chosen received critical acclaim. Cudi’s songwriting skills, in particular, were highly praised. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart.

On December 3, 2021, he collaborated with singer Ariana Grande on the song “Just Look Up” to promote the Netflix comedy Don’t Look Up. Cudi headlined the Rolling Loud Music Festival in the same year. During a performance, he revealed his intention to release two new albums in 2022.

The first of the two albums, The Boy Who Flew to the Moon, Vol. 1, was a compilation album which featured a re-release of “A Kid Named Cudi,” as well as the previously-unreleased “Love.”

Cudi’s second album of 2022 was the long-awaited Entergalactic, which appeared alongside an animated Netflix special of the same name. Entergalactic dropped on September 30, 2022, to much fan anticipation. The album was a commercial and critical success, debuting at number 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Cudi is currently touring overseas. For those wishing to catch the next Kid Cudi tour, keep an eye on his official website for any new tour dates.

In addition to his musical career, Kid Cudi has dabbled in many other ventures. He has partnered with several clothing brands and designers, including BAPE, Surface to Air, Giuseppe Zanotti, A.P.C., Adidas, Virgil Abloh, Cactus Plant Flea Market, and Off-White. Through these collaborations, Cudi has had a hand in designing and creating tons of clothing, sneakers, and fashion accessories.

Live reviews

Coming from humble beginnings, Kid Cudi’s story is remarkable alone, without his track record epic live performances. After moving to New York with only a few hundred dollars and a demo tape, Kid Cudi’s signing with Kanye West began to catapult him to international stardom.

He very quickly acquired a cult-like following of high school and college students, selling out initially small venues, and eventually arena tours.

One of the most modest crowd pleasers in the music industry presently, Cudi poignantly demonstrated this at his gig back in 2011 in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel, giving an incredibly moving speech before his performance of both versions of ‘Pursuit of Happiness’.

His juxtaposition of this emotional moment with the epic strobe lighting of the venue succeeded in elevating the audience, carrying them with him through every moment of his performance. A real bonus of seeing Kid Cudi perform live is that he’s so invested in pleasing his fans, meaning that the audience are able to experience a real variation of old and newer tracks.

Overall, the production value of the event just completes the experience of seeing a fantastic artist, and Kid Cudi has the whole package.

A true underdog story, Kid Cudi did not have the easiest beginnings to his rap career yet after a lucrative signing to Kayne West's label, the young artist was soon catapulted into the limelight. Luckily Kid Cudi, otherwise known as Scott Mescudi has kept his integrity and remained grounded and this attitude is transferred to his live show.

There is no arrogant swagger or cocky persona, Cudi arrives onstage with a huge grin on his face as the audience cheers below. They rap along loudly to 'Satellite Flight' which causes Scott to smile further before thanking them for their continuous support and giving a little back story to some of his early work. He runs through a tight set of tracks taken from all four of his albums before building up to the finale with a back to back rendition of 'Memories', his David Guetta collaboration and 'Day N' Nite', his first breakout single.

The atmosphere turns into complete dance party as Cudi encourages the crowd to bounce along with these club anthems. The mood changes before the finale as Scott poignantly stands centre and delivers a short speech about his past and beginnings into the hip hop world before a suitably sincere rendition of 'Pursuit Of Happiness'.

Kid Cudi is undeniably cool on stage and his music is refreshingly fresh, fun and chilled. He blends R&B and hip hop with elements of rock in a uniquely laid back, chilled style. His music is perfect summer listening and watching Cudi perform at a festival was ideal: the festival atmosphere was perfect for Cudi’s style and the whole crowd was loving his performance. Hits such as ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ and unique electronic/hip hop creation ‘Day N Nite’ were the two biggest tracks of the night and had the audience going wild, dancing and singing along. Cudi owned the stage, appearing perfectly at ease and confident as he waltzed around, mic in hand and snapback firmly on place, with his infamous glasses perched on his face. Cudi’s ‘Man on the Moon’ also received an incredible reaction from the crowd, partly because of the lyrics which convey such meaning, something evident by the way that Cudi performed the song (with real emotion and feeling). The entire show was great and the crowd wildly applauded and cheered Cudi when he left the stage.

It was alright. He didn't schedule an opener so we had to wait 2 and a half hours for him to start playing.(doors open at 7 he came on at 930) I understand having issues with the stage because it's the first show of the tour and he hadn't toured in a minute. Anyway he came out and played a mini Rock show on electric guitar and then had a 10 minute intermission and then did all the Cudi classic tunes. He cut out some songs because of the stage delay and ended up only playing for like 45-50 minutes it seemed like and then he was done. Awesome set on stage but not as good as I thought. It will get better as he gets deeper into the tour though.

Scott is an amazing performer. His deliverance & energy is there, you can feel it. He's so passionate about his music & you can just see it when he performs. The only thing I can complain about is the fanbase. The crowd was tooo hectic, if everyone just vibed & enjoyed the music instead of fighting through bottles, crowd surfing, throwing punches, & shoving & pushing, it would've been overall perfect night. Love me some Kid Cudi! The set up was so dope too!

Overall, the concert was incredible. Kid Cudi has always kept his expanse open both artistically and figuratively and this concert made that more than apparent in his live performance. The venue was great and the energy that went along with it was also well-endowed. I had a great time and would recommend to anybody that if there is a special artist or musician or whatever in your life, go out and see them. You will not be let down.

It was everything that I expected and that Cudi made me escape reality and drift upon a land and vibe never experienced before and that the energy the people fed off gave Mr. KID his positive grooveness and finesse capabilities of maximum power and great service of energy that he basically unleashed the Spirit Bomb just like Goku son and this is a night I would never forget.

This is man seriously one of the greatest performers of all time! His stage presence is amazing and he's very personable with the crowd and you literally fall in love with him and have post-concert depression when it's over. He was dancing all over the place and signed autographs for everyone when it was over. I wouldn't hesitate to see him in concert again!

Great performer, great show, however the atmosphere was absolutely terrible. I've been a fan for years and was disappointed to have my experience ruined by so many wanna be fans and posers. Cudi himself was great but all the posers made this a less than mediocre experience

Kid Cudi Hints At Australian Tour

If Kid Cudi does tour Australia soon, it'll be his first tour down under since performing here in 2012.

More Kid Cudi

American rapper, singer and record producer Kid Cudi is teasing an Australian tour.

Kid Cudi dropped the teaser on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday after a fan shared a photo of the star in a suit and a cigarette in his mouth. The fan, referencing Cudi’s latest album, Insano , released earlier this month, asked if we’d see the Insano tour down under.

In response, Kid Cudi quote-tweeted his fan and wrote, “This might be one of the flyest photos of me. Tom Ford suit, cigarette, so rock n rollie. Yes ill be comin to aussie town and yes we will fuckin have the BEST time”.

His tweet follows another post he made last April when a different fan asked if Kid Cudi would tour Australia in support of Insano . Kid Cudi answered, “Im def comin next tour on everything, im comin. Promise. New Zealand too. I got yall”.

If the Mr Rager star does indeed tour Australia soon, it’ll mark his first appearance down under since performing at Heatwave Festival at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl in 2012. Before that, he played at Good Vibrations across the country in 2010.

Now we ask: will festivals like Groovin The Moo or Splendour In The Grass lock him in?

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

Insano features an absolutely stacked 21 song tracklist with numerous guest vocalists, including Travis Scott, DJ Drama, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, Young Thug and the late XXXTentacion . It’s his longest studio album by three tracks (the runner-up being 2016’s  Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ ).

With the release of  Insano , Cudi has completed his contractual obligations with Republic Records , thus making him an independent artist for the first time in nearly two decades. There’s a chance it could be his final album, too, having  hinted  in 2022 that he’s “nearing the end” of his music career and plans to explore other creative avenues.

Last March, he hyped  Insano up as the definitive Kid Cudi album,  telling fans , “I've never made a project this powerful before in my life. And you know, sitting and listening to these mixes, I just know that this shit is going to move you.

“Y'all are going to fuck with this shit in such a major way, and I'm so fuckin' excited. I just want to get on here and let y'all know that I'm not gonna let y'all down. This is gonna be the album of the year right now. I'm not playing, this is not a fuckin' joke. Tell everybody you fuckin' know.”

Kid Cudi Heading ‘To the Moon’ on World Tour

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Kid Cudi is heading to the moon on his upcoming tour, kind of. The rapper’s newly announced To the Moon world tour unfortunately shares a name with an idiotic and unrelated crypto-bro phrase, so let’s just imagine that he’s getting a moon landing of his own.

Scheduled for 27 cities across North America, Asia, and Europe, the tour will begin on Aug. 16 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Cudi will travel through Portland, Oakland, Denver, Miami, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago, and more cities. Tickets for the To the Moon tour go on sale Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Kid Cudi website . The tour will be supported by Don Toliver and Strick on all dates. Denzel Curry and 070 Shake will support select shows.

The North American leg of the tour wraps on Sept. 17 with his inaugural Moon Man’s Landing festival in his hometown of Cleveland. The festival will feature appearances by Playboi Carti, HAIM, Dominic Fike, Pusha T, Jaden, and more performers.

Cudi recently dropped “ Do What I Want ,” the lead single to his long-awaited studio album Entergalactic set for release later this year. The record will accompany his forthcoming animated music series of the same name arriving to Netflix on Sept. 30 with cast appearances from Timothée Chalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, Teyana Taylor, Macaulay Culkin, and others.

Kid Cudi announces INSANO World Tour: Here's how to get tickets

Kid Cudi is ready for liftoff with his new world tour.

The Grammy-winning and multiplatinum artist announced his INSANO World Tour on Tuesday. Fans can register for early ticket access on insanotour.com through Sunday at 11:59pm PST. The artist presale begins March 12 at 12 p.m. local time.

American Express card members can also get early access with a special presale that runs from March 12 at 10 a.m. local time to March 14 at 10 p.m. local time. The general public sale reportedly begins March 15, per Billboard and Rolling Stone .

The 31-city tour, which is slated to kick off June 28 , will see the "Day 'n' Nite" rapper hit major North American cities including Austin, Washington, D.C., New York City, Toronto and Las Vegas before wrapping in Los Angeles on Aug. 30.

Hip-hop acts Pusha T, Jaden Smith and Earthgang will serve as opening acts for the tour.

Kid Cudi will head to Europe for a slew of concerts in 2025 . He is scheduled to play in territories such as Norway, the Netherlands, France and the U.K.

The tour announcement comes after the January release of Cudi's ninth studio album "INSANO." The album peaked at No. 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.

The upcoming tour also follows Cudi's scrapped Moon Man's Landing festival. The Cleveland-born rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, had the festival's second edition scheduled to take place in his hometown last August, but the concert was ultimately canceled.

Cudi said on X that the city of Cleveland would not approve the outdoor festival aspect. He also promised to come back to Cleveland and "find a better place" to hold the festival.

The 2022 iteration of Moon Man's Landing included performances from Cudi as well as HAIM , Playboi Carti , 070 Shake , Pusha T, Jaden and fellow Cleveland natives Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Chip Tha Ripper, among others.

Kid Cudi Opens Up About Resuming Tour After Breaking Foot at Coachella, New Bisquick Partnership

Kid Cudi is still on the mend after a brutal injury forced him to cancel the Insano World Tour.

In an exclusive interview to promote his new Bisquick partnership, the “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper, 40, shared an update on his recovery three months after breaking his foot at Coachella . “I've been walking around the house,” he told Us Weekly . “I got my cane, so, yeah, things are going good.”

In April, Cudi (real name: Scott Mescudi) returned to Coachella after headlining the festival in 2019. During his performance, he jumped off stage, landed wrong and broke his foot. Days later, Cudi revealed the injury — determined to be a broken calcaneus — was “much more serious” than he thought.

“We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in tip top shape to rage with you all,” he wrote at the time . “There’s just no way I can bounce back in time to give 100%.”

Celebrity Injuries Through the Years: Reese Witherspoon, Teddi Mellencamp and More

Speaking to Us , Cudi credited fiancée Lola Abecassis Sartore — alongside his mother and his assistant — for being “all hands-on deck” during his healing process, admitting, “I couldn't have gone through this on my own.”

“My fiancée [told me], ‘You haven't complained not once throughout this whole ordeal,’ and I was just like, ‘You guys made it really easy for me,’” he explained. “I felt like I had the Golden Girls taking care of me. I'm blessed.”

Cudi is optimistic he will be back on the road soon enough. “Everything's looking good. We're waiting to lock in some dates,” he said of rescheduling the tour. “We should know something in a couple months and then we can put the tickets out on sale.”

“It's looking like it's going to happen for sure,” he continued. “I'm just ready and excited to get out there, perform these new songs and see the fans, man.”

Cudi has been putting his downtime to good use. Not only is he planning his upcoming wedding and working on a memoir, he also teamed up with Bisquick on his latest venture, Cudi’s Funnel Cake Mix . The partnership, which includes an exclusive fair-themed collectible box and merch line, was inspired by the Grammy winner’s love for the sweet treats.

Celebrity Foodies: See the Stars Who’ve Shown Off Their Impressive Skills in the Kitchen

“I've been a huge fan of funnel cake since I was a kid going to fairs, carnivals and amusement parks — it was always the first thing on my mind to get,” he told Us . “Even in my adulthood, I've been having my chefs make funnel cake mix for me or making them for myself.”

Cudi approached Bisquick with the idea after realizing there was a void in the market. “It hit me one day [that] you can’t go to the grocery store and just buy the mix,” he explained.

“It just seemed like the perfect marriage. The way things came together, it made so much sense — from them being open to the idea, to me designing the box [and] the tagline,” he added. “I was really flattered that they were open to doing it.”

Kid Cudi Gives Update On New Album & Tour: 'Ur Not Prepared'

Kid Cudi has given fans an update on his next album and confirmed a world tour will follow.

Cudder took to Twitter on Monday (February 27) to announce that his forthcoming project will drop this fall and he’ll be kickstarting the rollout this summer.

“Album this Fall. First singles this summer. The new chapter has begun,” Cudi wrote. “Ur not prepared man. We’ve reached a new level.”

An eager Cudi fan replied to his tweet and asked whether a tour is on the cards, to which the Man on the Moon rapper confirmed he’ll be embarking on a world tour in 2024.

“World tour next year. Count on it,” Cudi wrote back.

Kid Cudi previously said that his next album — the proper follow-up to 2020’s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen — would likely be his last , given the fact that he has just one more project left on his current deal with Republic Records.

“Im doin 1 more album and then im done w my deal and not sure what ima do after that but yea, 1 more,” the Cleveland native wrote on Twitter last November. “Wont be next year. Keep u posted.

“This is for all my fans that have been ridin w me for so long. This will be all new music. The songs ive teased ill prolly put out as singles here and there to hold u over.”

Cudi hinted at retiring from music during an interview Apple Music’s Zane Lowe last September, suggesting the recently-released Entergalactic would serve as his final project.

But, as far as getting in the studio and working on an album, and then going and touring it, I just don’t have it in me. I don’t have the desire.”

He continued: “I have so many other things I want to invest my time into… I really want to spend more time with my daughter. You know what I’m saying? “I got 2 songs w Thug I did last year,” Cudi tweeted in December. “1 of them goin on the new album the other he’ll use. These songs are fuckin INSANE. Im tellin u. U have no idea.”
