IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO OR MINUS I WOULD. WE WERE TOLD MORE THAN ONCE THAT OUR LUGGAGE WAS INCLUDED!! GET TO AIRPORT NOT COVERED. COST US AN ADDITIONAL $472.00 FOR BAGS. TRIP WAS IN FEB AND STILL DEALING WITH THIS. TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE AT APPLE, FINALLY AFTER A MONTH AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I HEARD BACK ONLY FOR THEM TO PUSH IT OFF ON THE AIRLINE. WE WERE TOLD BY THEM BUT INSTEAD OF MAKING IT RIGHT THEY DID THAT. NOW NO RESPONSE FROM APPLE AGAIN. WORST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH WILL NEVER GET OUR BUSINESS AGAIN. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM APPLE!!!!!!!

Apples Customer service sucks

January 14-22-24 Booked 5 star Mystery deal to Punta Cana for adult only vacation. Apple guaranteed a five star resort and did not tell us where until two days before departure. Upon arrival to the resort ,Breathless Punta Cana we immediately upgraded to the X-hale club and we got a master Suite ocean view room. The view was fantastic, but the rest of the room not so much, at the very best it may have been 3 starz. Anyway since being home we have contacted Apple 4 times now with only a computer written response claiming they will get back to us. It has been nearly 40 days and nothing. Apples customer service gets a lower rating then the crappy resort they sent us to!

Do Not Trust Apple Vacations' packages

Got an Apple Vacations package from a travel agent. Hotel was bad and airport transport was a nightmare. Triple check everything before accepting an Apple Vacations package!!!!

Apple Vacations is a no deal ripoff!

I usually book my own trips but used an Apple Vacation "travel agent" who was coordinating a group trip, NEVER AGAIN. Not sure why they act like you're getting a group rate when rates are the same as booking individually on your own. The travel insurance is a scam, I lost half of what I paid when I cancelled (I understand losing the insurance cost). To top it off, I am unable to access my credit voucher on the Apple website, the message says "consumers are not allowed to access". How am I not allowed to access my own credit voucher? I would ask if they need the BBB to help me access my credit but after reading the reviews, they care nothing about customer service or trust. Apple is definitely not needed in the age of internet access, only for those who don't have time, but have money to blow. At the end of the day, you will be exhausting time trying to right the wrongs of Apple. It's 2024, Do NOT use Apple Vacations.

Hi there, we are so sorry to hear this. Please send us an email to [email protected] with your booking information so we can further assist. Thank you!

Tried to contact Apple Vacations twice…

Tried to contact Apple Vacations twice during my vacation. Received prompt email noting that they had received my message but never actually got a response from them. Apple uses Swift Air as their charter. Waited for over a hour on departing flight in line to get boarding pass and over two hours on return trip. Counter was very poorly staffed. Also had very poor experience texting customer support, consistently replied with what seemed were canned responses and never really answered my questions. Will not use Apple again, only reason I did this time is they offered a direct flight to my destination.

Travel agent booked out 30th…

Travel agent booked out 30th anniversary through Apple Vacations. Everything the travel agent did was spectacular without exception. Apple's delivery on their part...not so much. They did arrange travel to the hotel from the airport and that is where they stopped. No recognition of our anniversary, no contact by any representatives once we were at the hotel, and we had to have the hotel Concierge call and arrange for our transportation to the airport for departure. Not sure what was wrong, but we literally had no contact with Apple during our entire stay. This is not how it usually goes. Usually there is a get together, a luncheon, maybe a bottle of rum sent to our room, but this time, nothing!

BlueBay Resort is a nightmare

You need to drop BlueBay from your resort list. This place is awful. It's in desperate need of updating, staff is rude and unprofessional. There are major security concerns here. Beware when you come

I have paid a travel agent last year…

I have paid a travel agent last year for a trip my trip is 4 weeks away and her phone is disconnected, I have no itinerary no nothing. Reach out to Apple Vacations they are no help because they said they need to speak with travel agent before they can do anything. Have can you reach out to her and her phone is disconnected!

This company's website booking system…

This company's website booking system is so out of date. It would not let me add travel insurance to all of the group. Only insured the person who was listed on each room. When trying to make any changes and move dates for the people not insured due to co-vid they then lost all money on the trip. Waiting to speak on the phone to agents took at minimum an hour each time I interacted with them. You are better off to book your flight yourself and the hotel yourself and shave off the 20-30% apple makes off you booking through them. The only service apple provides is transportation to the resort which you can easily acquire yourself for a reasonable rate.

Hi Lisa! We're sorry to hear this! Please send us an email with your booking number to [email protected] so we can further assist you. Thanks!

Terrible. Upgraded to a private shuttle to and from the airport, got to the airport, no shuttle. We were there waiting for 2hrs and then put onto a bus with people from other resorts. One tour we booked didn’t match the description, but it was fine. Decided to pass on the other tour and was told I would not be refunded because it was too close to the reservation time… I called the day prior and no one answered and their people at the resort are rarely around when you need them, don’t even have laptops (they work off their cellphones) or any of your reservation information. Will not recommend and will never use them again.

Never would I book through Apple again

Never would I book through Apple again. Take my word and do Cheap Caribbean. Never have they disappointed. With Apple you be disappointed from getting on plane to resort. False advertising at its finest. Save your money and time.

Really bad service and not what was …

Really bad service and not what was promised or paid for, do not book with them at all. Very disappointed with the whole set up from beginning to end. I had a lot of problems with the shuttle service to and the resort, the onsite representative made it clear he really didn't care and never helped. They promised a priivate transfer and I paid for a private transfer but that was not what I got. I guess I should just be happy I got a shuttle back to the airport at all. Apple should not be allowed to continue.

Book directly with airline and hotels…

Book directly with airline and hotels as Apple Vacations charged over $1000 in added fees closer to our trip & was not upfront about it at booking. (Fine print). And no service for such was provided.

Do not do business with Apple…

Do not do business with Apple Vacations. If you have an issue they will not allow you to speak to the manager. I was told 'no one is here to help you, I cannot give you anyone's name or transfer you'. We paid over $7K and insurance and they would not give us a refund even during an emergency family situation. They just want money. Do not do business with this company.

Date of experience : June 25, 2021

This is the worst resort I have ever…

This is the worst resort I have ever stayed at. In spite of the high price I paid for this vacation. It is NOT worth the money and I will never book Apple vacations again or any related properties. I paid a lot of money for a 4 day vacation yet they charge an additional $100 a day for the “ preferred” pool area. The so-called beach is just some gravel- like sand on a small lagoon with no waves and lots of people in it. I’m sure it is filthy and full of bacteria. My room when I arrived was freezing. They sent someone twice to try to raise the temperature but finally they just had to turn it completely off. They are supposed to give me another room at 3 pm today . If I didn’t pay almost $3000 for this so called vacation, I would leave. Very very disappointed in Apple vacations. I’ve had good experiences in the past but this is a nightmare. Resort is Dreams Adventuras, Puert Adventuras, Mexico

If I could give a Apple Vacations, a zero

If I could give his zero, I would. The customer service is horrendous. My flight was canceled due to weather. This part was obviously couldn’t be helped. However, I got on the phone with Apple to see what could be done for the loss of the day of my vacation. I spoke to at least seven different people at different times. Hold times were well over an hour. I was disconnected several times. All representatives Communicating different things to me and needless to say I spent most of the day on the phone. Even after they had said that they rectify the situation with the hotel when we got there nothing had been taken care of. It was the most stressful vacation I have ever taken. I will not be recommending a Apple Vacations and I have used them in the past, but their customer service has changed. They need to educate their Representatives the loss of a day of vacation when you’re only on a five day vacation is a big difference.

Hi Dee, we are so sorry again to hear this. If you could send us an email to [email protected] with your booking information, we would love to further assist. Thank you!

Best service ever!

We booked with them months in advance. I purchased ins. (Always) We watched the weather for our resort and it was going to be awful the entire week . So I call 14 days prior and asked to completely change direction to a new resort. The CSR was more than happy to help. The resort I chose was a tad more but that’s fine as long as the weather was great. Went smooth as glass. We always use Apple. The past 8 Years with absolutely no issues what so ever. Thank you Apple.

On-Line Rate Quotes for Trips

I have booked thru Apple several times without issue. I have been undecided about which property I would like to stay at. Searched their site yesterday and the trips I was looking at were $1500 to $2000 range per person (I travel quite a bit, and this is expected). I go to search today and the SAME trips are $6,000 to $10,000 per person! Do they think I am that stupid, and I do not know any better and would actually book at that disgustingly over-inflated price? The clincher here is I searched on my phone, and prices quoted per person were in the $1500 to $2000 range. I really have a problem with sites that track you, and then try and take advantage of you like this. Seems like they need specifically to work on the integrity of their business. This is a sure-fire way to lose loyal customers (remember the old adage - it is much easier to keep the customers that you have than to try and attract new ones to take their place). If I could give the experience a zero, I would do so.

Absolute thieves and liers

Had a wonderful Christmas trip to Vegas set up with the family. A few weeks before the trip my father's health began to fade. We had to cancel the trip. The apple vacations representative told us that the travel credits and vouchers were fully transferable to anyone on the original booking. However when we went to transfer the credits to the one family member that had the ability to travel they said only the persons portion of the voucher could be redeemed and that only the original people on The trip could use Said credits. Meaning less than a quarter of the 3 grand was redeemable. We tried to explain that the trip was canceled due to my fathers failing health and they gave no concern. It was ended with not even a sorry just a, "that is not possible.". Do not ever uses this crummy company. They put their profits before even a hint of positive customer service. They have no heart and their empathy is that of a robot. I hope the currently beginning recession kills them off so they can't extract any more money from good and honest people like my family.

A retired Los Angeles County deputy never returned home from his vacation on a Greek island – now, his family is working tirelessly to find him.

Albert Cailbert, 59, a seasoned hiker with dual citizenship in Greece, was last seen setting out on a four-hour hike across the island of Amorgos to meet a friend for lunch, his family told  Fox 11 . His friend alerted Greek authorities when the retired law enforcement officer failed to arrive.

He left on the hike around 7 a.m. local time and had not arrived at his destination by 3:30 p.m. on June 11, according to the  Greek Reporter .

His last communication was with his sister, to whom he sent a picture of a trail sign.

He had two phones in his possession but hadn’t answered either, per the outlet.

As of June 13, he had been missing for more than three days.

“We’re almost on three days here,” Oliver Calibet, the man’s brother, the outlet on Wednesday. “There’s no water… I’m very distraught.”

“My best hope is they find him and they can patch him up and get him home,” the brother said.

A group of family members and friends with search and rescue knowledge set out for the island on Thursday, per the outlet.

Meanwhile, other family members have turned a home in Hermosa Beach into their headquarters, manning phones and email to communicate with authorities and Calibet’s friend.

Calibet has travelled to Amorgos almost every year for the last decade, Amorgos’ deputy mayor of tourism Popi Despotidi told the Greek Reporter.

“It is strange because he is not a person who walked the route for the first time,” Despotidi told international news organization. “He knows Amorgos better than me.”

Cailbert left on the hike around 7 a.m. local time and had not arrived at his destination by 3:30 p.m. on June 11, according to the Greek Reporter.

His disappearance comes as the island faces a “severe high temperature warning” with extreme heat expected to last through June 13, per  The Telegraph .

The heat wave is pervading the entirety of Greece, with authorities closing down the acropolis on Thursday.

Calibet’s disappearance comes days after popular British TV presenter Michael Mosley was found dead in Greece on June 9 after setting out on a hike on June 5.

Lefteris Papakalodoukas, the mayor of Symi — where Mosley went missing — said his body was found face-up against a fence and appeared to have fallen down a steep slope.

Meanwhile, on the island of Samos, a 74-year-old Dutch tourist has been missing since Sunday,  ABC 7  reported.

“Unfortunately, so far we have no news about either of them,” Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou told CNN, adding that “police, fire brigade and volunteers are involved in the search, including by air,” for both men.

Apple AirTag

Snag a rare discount on a four-pack of Apple AirTags with this limited-time deal.

Whether you're gearing up for a summer vacation or you're just prone to losing things, snagging a set of Apple AirTags at a discount is like a dream come true. AirTags are the best Bluetooth trackers around, so they don't go on sale too often, but you can stock up on these gadgets for less now. Right now, Amazon and Walmart are offering a four-pack of AirTags for $80.

The best-selling smart trackers typically sell for $29 apiece, but today's bundle deal drops the cost to just $20 per tracker. This is a rare discount, so be sure to add the 4-pack of AirTags to your cart before the price increases. The single AirTag is also on sale for $25 if you only need one.

There's one more little thing to know about Apple AirTags. To make using AirTags easier, you'll need a key ring, keychain or another type of accessory to use to attach the tracking disc to your belongings (that is if you aren't simply tossing it into something like a backpack , a suitcase or a gym bag ).

Accessories

Going on vacation these are the best travel essentials for apple devices.

Avatar for Ryan Christoffel

It’s vacation season, and whether you’re heading out of town for some much-needed rest, or just traveling for work as usual, the accessories you travel with can make a world of difference.

Here are the best travel essentials for Apple devices.

Connect to plane’s TV with AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones

AirFly SE from Twelve South

For as wonderful as Bluetooth headphones can be, the one place they can disappoint is when you want to watch something on an airplane. In-flight TVs typically require using a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to connect.

That’s where the AirFly SE audio transmitter comes in. AirFly plugs into a standard headphone jack and creates a wireless signal that enables your AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones to connect to the TV. It feels a bit like magic.

Keep your battery charged on the go

Chargers for iPhone and Apple Watch

Apple no longer makes its iPhone MagSafe Battery, but there’s a much more affordable alternative anyways. Anker’s MagSafe portable iPhone charger attaches magnetically to your iPhone to provide charge on the go. It comes in a variety of great colors, and can be recharged using USB-C.

If you need a lot more charging juice, this portable power bank packs a whopping 26800mah of capacity. It’s a lot of power that can charge a variety of devices, while still being TSA-safe for taking on the plane with you.

Finally, if you’re looking for a convenient Apple Watch charging solution, this keychain Watch charger is the way to go. Snap it on your keychain and charge up as needed throughout the day, then recharge it via USB-C.

Reduce packing clutter

3-in-1 charger and laptop sleeve

My favorite 3-in-1 charger for my iPhone, Watch, and AirPods just happens to be perfect for travel, too. Rather than dealing with a lot of different charging bricks and cables, this 3-in-1 solution uses a single cable and brick, and can be easily collapsed for taking up minimal space in your bag.

  • Hands-on: I finally found the 3-in-1 iPhone charger I’ve been looking for

Another great way to upgrade your packing game, while better protecting your Mac or iPad, is to use a sleeve. I recommend this sleeve for Mac or this one for iPad . It keeps your bag organized, your device safe, and can be taken out for on-the-go outings.

Block out airplane noise

Sonos Ace

There is no shortage of solid noise-canceling headphones out there. I’m partial to the AirPods Pro 2 , but over-ears will better physically isolate external sounds. You can’t go wrong with any of the following options, ranked from least to most pricey:

  • Bose QuietComfort
  • AirPods Max

Don’t let your bags get lost

AirTag

It may go without saying, but a list of travel essentials would be incomplete without the AirTag. Throw one in every bag, on your keys, on any valuable item you’re bringing with you—that way, if something happens you’re not out of luck. You can get a discounted 4-pack or just buy one .

  • Emergency medical and dental coverage starting at $15,000

Travelex Travel Insurance  offers three plans:

  • Travel Basic
  • Travel Select
  • Travel America

The Travelex America plan is meant for trips limited to the U.S., but it has the highest coverage limits in many areas compared to its other programs. If you're flying somewhere, the lost baggage limits are higher. Its natural strengths shine for road trippers, though. Travelex America adds coverage for roadside service and rental car coverage for unexpected accidents. It also covers pets should you be involved in an accident while on the road.

While your standard auto insurance does extend to car rentals within the U.S. for a limited time, any accident would affect future rates. Travelex would eliminate the risk of reporting to your auto insurance provider for minor incidents within its purview.

Introduction to Travel Insurance

Why travel insurance is a must-have.

The unpredictable nature of traveling – from flight cancellations to medical emergencies – can turn your dream vacation into a nightmare. Travel insurance acts as a personal safeguard, ensuring that unexpected events don't drain your wallet or ruin your trip.

Understanding Different Types of Travel Insurance

Not all travel insurance policies are created equal. From single-trip travel insurance policies to annual travel insurance plans , from minimal coverage to comprehensive protection, understanding the spectrum of options is your first step in finding the right fit for your journey.

Key Features to Look for in Travel Insurance Coverage

Travel insurance for medical emergencies.

Imagine falling ill in a foreign country; daunting, right? A robust travel insurance plan ensures you don't have to worry about how much emergency medical care while traveling will cost, even in the most remote corners of the globe. This coverage will often come in tandem with emergency medical evacuation coverage.

Trip Cancellation and Interruption Benefits

Life is full of surprises, some less pleasant than others. Trip cancellation and interruption coverage ensures that you're not left out of pocket if unforeseen circumstances force you to cancel or cut your trip short. You may also look for cancel for any reason and interruption for any reason options, which will reimburse you for a percentage of your nonrefundable fees, but expands the covered reasons you can cancel a trip. You can find our guide on the best CFAR travel insurance companies here.

Coverage for Personal Belongings and Baggage Loss

Losing your belongings is more than an inconvenience; it's losing a piece of your world. Insurance that covers personal belongings and baggage loss ensures that you're compensated for your loss, helping you to rebound and continue your adventure.

Support and Assistance Services

In times of trouble, having a lifeline can make all the difference. Look for insurance that offers 24/7 support and assistance services, giving you peace of mind that help is just a phone call away. Also, check websites that field customer reviews like Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, and InsureMyTrip , to see how well a company responds to customer requests.

Choosing the Best Travel Insurance

Reputation and reliability of the travel insurance provider.

A provider's reputation is not just about being well-known; it's about reliability, customer satisfaction, and the ability to deliver on promises. Researching and choosing a reputable provider is a cornerstone in ensuring your safety and satisfaction.

Understanding the Policy's Fine Print

The devil is in the details, and understanding the fine print of what your travel insurance policy covers is crucial. Be aware of coverage limits, exclusions, and the process for filing a claim to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

In the age of information, customer reviews and feedback are goldmines of insight. Learn from the experiences of others to gauge the reliability and customer service of the insurance provider you're considering. While the ratings are important, you should also look at whether or not a company responds to customer complaints.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Travel Insurance

Knowing your policy inside out.

Familiarize yourself with every aspect of your policy – what it covers, what it doesn't, how to file a claim, and who to contact in an emergency. Being informed means being prepared.

Steps to Take When a Problem Arises

If you face an issue during your travels, knowing the immediate steps to take can make all the difference. Keep important contacts and your policy details handy, and remember, your insurance provider is there to assist you.

How to Pick the Best Travel Insurance Company for You

There isn't a one-size-fits-all policy that works perfectly for every traveler. Young, healthy solo travelers can opt for much cheaper plans that offer bare-bones coverage, while families juggling complex itineraries will do best by investing in a robust policy that can help defray any costs associated with lost baggage, delayed transportation or other trip-impeding obstacles.

That being said, you can't go wrong with a travel insurance provider that boasts a reputable history and offers a wide range of customizable plans. In some cases, you may be comparing plans that are only a few dollars' apart from each other. In such situations, you should generally opt for the insurance company that offers the strongest customer service. It's also worth considering whether or not the travel insurance provider has been reviewed by other travelers with similar itineraries to your own.

An insurance aggregator like InsureMyTrip or Squaremouth is one of the best tools for searching travel insurance policies. Once you input the specifics of your travel itinerary, you'll be able to see hundreds of search results to compare the ones that catch your eye. If the options are too overwhelming, use the filters to the left of your search page to eliminate as many irrelevant plans as possible.

How We Reviewed the Best Travel Insurance Companies

To come up with our list of the best travel insurance companies, we evaluated each insurer based on the following factors:

Guide Methodology: What We Considered

Policy Types

Travel insurance is essential, but often underused partly because people aren't getting what they want. Business Insider's 2023 travel study showed 10.65% of travelers surveyed bought cancel for any reason insurance. Cost may be a factor, but in many cases, the coverage is more affordable than you might think. Regardless, companies must offer a diverse range of coverage options. We award five stars to companies offering all standard coverages and additional options like pet and sports equipment protection.

Our 2023 travel study indicated the majority of purchases were made through the travel provider (ex: flight protection insurance when you're purchasing your airline tickets). While these may be sufficient for some customers, we look for companies offering a more comprehensive range of services.

According to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association, the average cost of travel insurance will be between 4% and 8% of total travel expenses. Anything beyond that price point should include additional benefits beyond the standard inclusions, such as CFAR protection or upgraded medical coverage. Anything below that 4% threshold may leave you lacking important or sufficient coverage in an emergency.

Convenience and Flexibility

Whether you're an infrequent traveler or a suitcase warrior, a good travel insurance company should have you covered. In many cases, you might not even have to talk to a person in order to purchase your policy.

Many people think of travel insurance in context with specific trips, but most of these top contenders sell both single-trip and multi-trip policies, also known as annual travel insurance. Some companies also offer plans specifically designed for cruisers, students abroad, and business travelers. (Read our guide to the best cruise travel insurance companies for more details.) Finally, all of these providers offer multiple options for getting the specific areas and amounts of coverage that you want.

Claims Handling

Most travelers never have a large claim. Premiums are low, and it provides peace of mind for the just in case situations. So they leave reviews based on their reduced stress levels. But what happens if you lose your luggage or have to stay a few extra days due to an unexpected accident? Will your insurance carrier cover your claim without all the hassle? We check real customer reviews to sort this out for you.

Ease of Use and Support

When purchasing, during your trip, and throughout the claims process, you may need extra support. Does the company have a 24/7 help line? Does it have an online or mobile system allowing you to self-manage? Essentially, what are the options when you need help? We look at the big picture to evaluate the average customer experience with each company.

You can read our full insurance rating methodology for even more details.

Best Travel Insurance FAQs

There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for every traveler. Determine the benefits that are most important to you, like baggage delay coverage, medical coverage, and trip delay coverage, then look for a company with solid customer ratings, especially when it comes to processing claims.

Travel insurance will pay out if you experience a covered event, such as a travel delay or delayed or lost baggage. If you're looking to get travel insurance for a specific reason, such as needing to potentially cancel your trip due to work reasons, make sure your policy will cover you in that situation before purchasing it. You should also check customer reviews to see other travelers' claims experiences, as it varies wildly from company to company.

The average cost of travel insurance is 4% to 8% of your total trip cost, so it could vary widely depending on where you're traveling and the length of your trip. Your age, the number of people in your group, and other factors can also influence how much you'll pay.

Most comprehensive travel insurance policies include travel medical coverage that can come in handy if an emergency occurs and you need medical evacuation. Some travel insurance plans offer more specialized coverage for travelers with pre-existing conditions , so shop around if medical coverage is a top priority for you.

$100,000 should be a sufficient medical coverage limit for travel insurance. If you're planning on doing extreme sports or anything particularly risky on your trip, you may want to increase your coverage level. A high medical coverage limit is especially useful when you're purchasing cruise travel insurance, since medical evacuations are more involved at sea.
