Join Rev. Mark Gazzingan on a pilgrimage to The Holy Land, Jordan & Egypt!

Depart for your overnight flights to Amman. Dinner on-board, relax, and anticipate your arrival tomorrow morning.

Arrive in Amman

Upon arrival in Amman, we are met by our representative who will remain with us for the duration of the tour. We continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we depart through the “King’s Highway” to ancient city of Petra. We enjoy a walking tour of Petra. It begins with a walk through the Siq to the Treasury. Continue through the main street with the magnificent structures on each side carved into the mountains, to the colonnaded street, ending at the Petra museum. Lose yourself in the history of the Nabateans who meticulously carved massive structures out of the rose-colored sandstone. See the influence of the people that followed including the architecture of the mighty Romans and a beautiful Byzantine chapel decorated with ancient, stunning mosaics that have been carefully preserved.

This morning we cross the Jordanian / Israeli border and head to Mt Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Later we visit Cana where Jesus preformed his first miracle, turning water into wine; here we have a chance to renew wedding vows.  This evening we continue to Galilee for dinner and overnight.

Some of today’s highlights are a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St Peter’s house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount was given, to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter’s Primacy where Peter was told ” Feed my lambs, feed my sheep.” There will be an unforgettable Mass near the shores of the Sea of Galilee at the Primacy or Mt Beatitudes.

We start our morning with a visit to the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth where we will celebrate Mass and visit Mary’s well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel. We then drive through the Carmel Mountains heading to Haifa, where we visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery with the Madonna of Mt Carmel. Visit the Roman and Crusader ruins. Continue to Muhraka where Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal and where the Carmelite Order was started. Next, we head to the nearby city of Jaffa where we will visit the old historic port of Jaffa and the Church of St. Peter. We continue to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Today we begin with a dramatic view of the Old City from the Mount of Olives, revealing a city with 4000 years of history. From this vantage point, we see much of what makes Jerusalem such a unique city to the three major religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. We then head to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St John the Baptist and to the Church of Visitation where the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the ‘Magnificat’. In the afternoon, we drive to the Shepherd’s Fields where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. Then we visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem that stands upon the site where Jesus was born. Mass in Bethlehem or the Shepherds Fields.

We begin our day with morning mass at a local church. then we head to Mt. of Olives to walk the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Then to Gethsemane, the Rock of Agony where Jesus prayed His last prayer before his arrest. Visit the cave of betrayal then the cave of Assumption of Mary to heaven. Back on the Mt. of Olives we visit the Pater Noster with the Lord’s Prayer in many languages, and the Ascension from where He ascended to Heaven.

The Way of The Cross

Early in the morning we retrace the last steps of Jesus. As we walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow), through the markets of the Old City praying the Stations of the Cross, we reflect on the greatness of His sacrifice. Finally, we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Mass. We return to the Old City of Jerusalem to visit St. Anne’s Church, the home of the Virgin Mary and her parents Saints Joachim and Anne. After, we visit Masada, an ancient fortification, a top of an isolated large rock plateau overlooking the Dead Sea, and a symbol of great national pride. Continue along the shores of the Dead Sea to Qumran to see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Then we enjoy a swim in the salty, mineral laden and unsinkable waters of the Dead Sea. At the oasis town of Jericho, visit the excavations of the oldest city in the world and view Mt. Temptation where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. Continue to Taba – Egypt.

Free day to enjoy the waters of the Red Sea.

After breakfast we continue our pilgrimage by heading to St. Catherine, an Eastern Orthodox monastery located on the Sinai Peninsula. It lies at the mouth of a gorge at the foot of Mount Sinai, near the town of Saint Catherine, in Egypt. The monastery is named after Catherine of Alexandria. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002 for its unique importance in the traditions of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.

Optional: Early this morning we have the option to climb Mount Sinai, the mountain where Moses received the tablets of the law of God. The main route to the summit is known as the path of Moses and is lined with remains of various chapels.

St. Catherine

After breakfast we visit St. Catherine Monastery. Set beneath the mountain where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments. Saint Catherine Monastery has been one of the world’s great centers of religious pilgrimage for over fifteen centuries. Among its treasures is a library of ancient manuscripts and icons second only to the Vatican. Continue to Cairo.

We start our day by visiting the Citadel and Mohamed Ali mosque. We then visit Abu Sergha Church. Later we travel to Khan Bazaars. The Khan El-Khalili is one of the most interesting bazaars, not only in Egypt, but also in the whole Middle East.

Today we visit the Egyptian Museum. This is a place of true discovery and without doubts one of the greatest collections of all time. We then visit the great Pyramids – Cheops, Chephren & Mykerions. Next is a close-up look at the Sphinx. At night we gather for a Nile Cruise Dinner with belly dancing.

DUBAI CITY TOUR

This is a fascinating tour of Dubai, we will explore a contrast between the past and present. The journey begins from the Dubai creek; we pass by Bastakia – the old quarter of the city with houses made of lime stones and corals built by the Iranian merchants. Here, you will see the wind towers which served as air-conditioners in the olden days. The journey takes us through the city center which covers popular landmark like the Museum, housed in the 18th century Al Fahidi Fort. The Museum features realistic displays, with sound effects, depicting various scenes, which provide a fascinating glimpse of the historical links of trading and pearl diving. We then head towards Jumeirah mosque-magnificent example of modern Islamic architecture and continue along the Jumeirah beach road, which is the most luxurious urban area in   Dubai. We pass by the Mercato shopping mall with Mediterranean Style architecture and our next stop will be photo shoot at the world renowned Burj Al Arab hotel. The journey further takes us through the trunk of Palm Jumeirah – an artificial palm tree-shaped resort island-the largest architectural wonder made by man, thus making it a contemporary tourist attraction & here we have an opportunity to take photos of the famous Atlantis Palm Hotel. We will be driving back to the City on Sheikh Zayed Road that connects Dubai to Abu Dhabi. We drive past by the Burj Dubai – the Tallest Tower in the World, The Emirates Towers and The World Trade Center -an area referred as THE MANHATTAN of DUBAI. Just before we end the tour, we drive along the Zabeel road, passing by the palace of Sheikh Mohammed, as well as the Sheikh Rashid palace, (No photography).

Not to be confused with Dolphin Bay at The Palm where there are only dolphins and activities involving one-on-one encounters with the creatures. This site is located in the Dubai Mall and is home to over 33,000 species of aquatic creatures. There is a huge 10 million litter tank on one level and an underwater zoo on an upper level where people can interact with the animals. A variety of experiences are offered. You can go underwater in a cage and get up-close with the marine animals including 300 sharks and stink rays. You can take a dive (without a cage) down among the sharks. You can even learn to dive and get certified at the aquarium. The aquarium is the proud owner of giant crocodiles 5 meters long. There are daily presentations and feedings. You can see the sting rays, fish, crocodiles and sharks being fed. One of the most thrilling experiences at the aquarium is to walk though the transparent 48 meter long tunnel which goes through the aquarium tank. So you can see all the animals swimming around and overhead. The latest attraction is the UAE Night Creatures. This attraction covers 200m² and is home to creatures which live in the Arabian Desert environment. In the Underwater Zoo you can see creatures from the Rainforest, Rocky Shore and Living Environment.

Dune bashing literally means bashing the dunes with the thrill of going up and down, provoking shrieks of laughter and tons of excitement & we head towards the campsite.

DESERT DINNER UNDER THE ARABIAN SKY

The throbbing beat of drums pierce the Arabian night as guests enter the campsite under the starlit sky. Open fires blaze, casting flickering shafts of light onto the faces of gorgeous locals in traditional outfits that welcome guests and hand over cold towels and liquid refreshments. As guests mingle they will be transported to an era of long ago while a traditional barbecue dinner is being prepared on open fires close-by with the smells and aromas of Arabian spices and ingredients filling the air. Or Dubai Dhow Cruise. Discover the true beauty of Dubai while aboard a traditionally decorated wooden dhow (cabin cruise), as it sails along the Dubai creek under the moonlight. The major Dubai landmarks shine through the moonlit sky as the wooden vessel slips silently across the creek. The past and present architecture of the area is brought to its full beauty during this time, including the National Bank of Dubai, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Sheikh Saeed’s house, and the Heritage Village. This unforgettable romantic evening safari includes a buffet dinner of either continental or oriental cuisine, along with soft drinks, traditional coffee, and mineral water. After breakfast, enjoy a boat ride on the beautiful and scenic Sea of Galilee (Luke 5:1). Upon docking, have the opportunity to view the remains of the boat dating back to the time of Jesus. Following the Sea of Galilee, continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus proclaimed His great Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:20-49). Near the Mount is Tabgha, one of Jesus’ miracle sites. At Tabgha, Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000 people from five loaves of bread and two fish (Luke 9:10-17). In Tabgha is St. Peter’s Primacy, where Jesus bestowed church leadership upon Peter (John 21:9). Continue to visit the birthplace of Mary Magdalene in Magdala.Group will celebrate Mass at Duc in Altum (pending confirmation). During the time of Jesus, this village was a prosperous fishing village that exported fish and garum (a fish sauce reduction popular in Roman cooking). Your day concludes at Capernaum, the launching place of Jesus’ ministry. In Capernaum, see the Synagoguewhere Jesus taught (Mark 1:21-29) and gave His sermon on the Bread of Life. End the day with a visit to the Yardenit for the renewal of Baptismal promises. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 | Tuesday, August 19: Mt. Tabor – Akko - Jerusalem Theme: The Transfiguration

This morning we ascend Mt Tabor (Matthew 17:1-50). At this site, Christ’s Divinity was revealed. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Transfiguration. From the top of Mt Tabor, enjoy a dramatic view the Valley of Armageddon, before driving to Akko, one of the world’s oldest seaports, mentioned as far back as 3,500 years by the Pharaoh Tuthmosis III and now designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, and a succession of Crusaders occupied the town but Napoleon famously failed to conquer it. Acre was the main base for the Crusades.Continue the drive up to the Judean Hills where you enjoy your first view of holy, complicated, Jerusalem from Mt Scopus.

Day 6 | Wednesday, August 20: Jerusalem: Ein Karem - Bethlehem Theme: The Visitation and Nativity

This morning we go the village of Ein Karem to visit the Church of St John the Baptist, which marks his birthplace (Luke 1.5). Nearby is Church of Visitation that commemorates the visit of our Blessed Mother to her cousin, Elizabeth, staying with her for 3 months (Luke 1.39). Many people pray the Mystery of the Rosary as they walk up the hill to the Church. Later drive to Bethlehem tovisit the fields where the Angel appeared to the shepherds to proclaim the birth of Jesus Christ, (Luke 2:8). We enter the caves where shepherds took shelter in ancient times and see the soot marks of the fires they lit to keep warm. Continue to Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. We enter the church through the door of humility and proceed down to the Grotto of the Nativity, which marks the place of Our Saviour’s birth (Matthew 2:1-18). Beneath the altar, there is a silver star and a Latin inscription that states: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary). Following Mass in Bethlehem return to the hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and an overnight.

Day 7 | Thursday, August 21: Mt. Of Olives - Gethsemane - Mt. Zion (Upper Room) - Western Wall Theme: Palm Sunday and the Agony in the Garden

After breakfast, you will make your way to the Mount of Olives, where you will be able to take in the beautiful, panoramic view of Jerusalem. Historically, the Mount of Olives was a mandatory transit point for Jesus during many iconic moments. Visit the Pater Noster Shrine where Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s Prayer (Pater Noster) (Luke 11:1-4). You will have the opportunity to stop at Dominus Flevit, the Church that commemorates where Jesus wept for Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). Continue to Gethsemane, a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives. Jesus brought His disciples here to pray the night before He was crucified (Luke 22:29-53). The Garden still contains trees with roots that date back to the time of Jesus. Your next stop, the Church of All Nations, is built over the “Rock of Agony”. Jesus prayed here alone on the night of His arrest. Take time to Pray and reflect on Christ’s agony that He experienced. You will have the opportunity to visit the Western Wall, which is the last remnant of theJewish Temple after it was destroyed in 70 A.D. Continue with a visit to the house of the High Priest Caiaphas (Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu). ThisChurch commemorates where Jesus was examined and eventually imprisoned before the Council in Jerusalem. It also commemorates Peter’s Denial of Christ (John 18:15-18), Peters’ repentance, and Jesus’ forgiveness of Peter. You will also visit the Upper Room on Mt. Zion. The Upper Room is where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17-30) and where Jesus appeared to His disciples after His Death and Resurrection (Mark 16:14). Also, visit the nearby Benedictine Church of the Dormition. Tradition tells us that this is the Church where Mary, the Mother of Jesus, fell asleep. At the end of this prayerful day, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 | Friday, August 22: Jordan River – Jericho - Dead Sea Theme: The Judean Wilderness & The Baptism of Jesus.

Following breakfast, we will travel down the Jordan Valley through the Judean wilderness, where Jesus spent 40 days of fasting. We arrive at the Jordan River where He was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17). After renewing our Baptismal Promises, we continue to the oldest inhabited city in the world, Jericho (Joshua 6:12-25). Here, wewill celebrate Mass and view the Mount of Temptation, where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast (Luke 4:1). South of Jericho is the ancient site of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and discovered (Ezekiel 47:8-10). These writings have helped further the understanding of the Jewish background to Christianity. Time and weather permitting, you will have the opportunity to take a float in the Dead Sea, the lowest and saltiest place on Earth. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.

Day 9 | Saturday, August 23: Jerusalem: Via Dolorosa - Holy Sepulchre Theme: The Way of the Cross, The Crucifixion, The Resurrection

This morning you will have a very early wake-up to begin the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) at the Antonia Fortress, the spot where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate (John 18:28-19:16). Following His condemnation, He was taken (on the Road to Calvary) to His place of Crucifixion. Reflect upon the Stations of the Cross, as you travel through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (Luke 23:26-33). This sacred destination is the site of Calvary (Jesus’ crucifixion place) and His tomb (Luke 23: 50-55). Celebrate Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Following Mass, we will return tothe hotel to enjoy breakfast. Continue your day with a visit to the Church of St. Anne’s, the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents (Anne and Joachim); and the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the cripple man (John 5:1-9). This afternoon, enjoy a revisit to the Old City. Following this visit, return to the hotel to enjoy dinner and overnight at your hotel.

After an early breakfast and heartfelt farewells, transfer to the Tel Aviv airport for return flights home.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Grace of this trip was that it was accompanied by none other than V.Rev Fr. Sleeba whose explanations and guidance gave us an insight into nooks and corners of Holy Land. It was almost a visual tour thro Holy Bible. It was pure bliss when everything that were in your imagination came true in front of u. Trip was meticulously planned combining pilgrimage and leisure making full use of available limited time. Assistance given by Mr. Jiffin in making this tour a pleasant and unforgettable experience is remembered with gratitude.

It was a grt experience travelling with Royal omania. The trip was well planed and executed.

renjith sunny Avatar

Well organized. The food and accommodation arranged were exemplary. All the local guides were very good with special mention to Telib from Egypt. Jeffin James, our tour coordinator from Kochi was a very lively and supportive presence throughout. This was important because the holyland trip is demanding on the body and mind and his camaraderie with one and all was vital to enhancing the overall experience. It goes without saying that Fr. Sleeba knows what he is doing. He ensured that everyone was taken care of and infused the spirituality required for such a trip without going overboard. My only suggestion would be to avoid conflicting instructions from the tour coordinator and the local guide. This happened in Israel a few times and the passengers were left confused on several occasions.

Best holy land trip you can get among all the travels. Would recommend royal omania to anyone who is visiting jerusalem

We were participants of the Holy Land tour which commenced on 25th April 2024. Was apprehensive before the tour but we can confidently say that we enjoyed the tour very much with Father Sleeba and Jeffin assisting. All aspects of the tour was very well planned, and looked into for the comfort of participants. The hotels were of good quality and standard and the food was delicious. There were some minor delays during the tour which were beyond the organizers ability to control. We were pointed to this tour organization by friends who had previously travelled and we in turn would recommend anyone who intends to travel to the Holy Land to book with Royal Omania Tours and Travels. Well done Father Sleeba, Jeffin and the team at Royal Omania Tours.
