EVN startet erneut Energie-Info-Tour

Die EVN beantwortet im Rahmen ihrer niederösterreichweiten Info-Tour ab 9. Jänner wieder Fragen von Kundinnen und Kunden rund um das Thema Energie. Innerhalb von vier Wochen wird in 40 Gemeinden Station gemacht.

Eine solche Aktion der EVN gab es bereits im September, es gäbe aber weiterhin viele Fragen, die die Menschen beschäftigen würden, erklärt EVN-Sprecher Stefan Zach – zum Beispiel in Bezug auf den niederösterreichischen Strompreisrabatt, Förderungen und Energiespartipps.

Um Antworten zu geben, werden in vier Wochen 40 Gemeinden in Niederösterreich angefahren. „Um möglichst viele Menschen zu unterstützen, führt unsere Tour vor allem in Gemeinden mit hoher Bevölkerungsdichte“, sagt Zach. Ausgenommen seien Städte, in denen es ein Servicecenter der EVN gibt.

Unterstützung beim Ausfüllen von Formularen

Viele Kundinnen und Kunden hätten laut Zach den Überblick über die unterschiedlichen Boni und Rabatte und deren Einlöseart verloren. Insofern rechnet der EVN-Sprecher mit einem hohen Interesse. Zudem würden vor allem ältere Personen den persönlichen Kontakt gegenüber dem Online-Angebot bevorzugen. „Gerne unterstützen wir beim Ausfüllen der Online-Formulare", so Zach. „Bitte Meldezettel und die letzte Rechnung mitnehmen – dann geht es gleich doppelt so schnell."

Die Energiekostenberatungen finden vom 9. bis zum 13. Jänner im Industrieviertel, vom 16. bis zum 20. Jänner im Mostviertel, vom 23. bis zum 27. Jänner im Waldviertel und vom 30. Jänner bis zum 3. Februar im Weinviertel statt.

WALDVIERTEL. „Ich habe den blau-gelben Strompreisrabatt noch nicht beantragt, kann ich das jetzt noch machen?“, „Welche Förderungen wurden mir bereits gutgeschrieben und wo kann ich diese auf meiner Energierechnung sehen?“ oder „Wie kann ich am besten Energie sparen?“– „Es gibt nach wie vor viele Fragen, die unsere Kundinnen und Kunden beschäftigen“, erläutert EVN Sprecher Stefan Zach. EVN möchte bei der Beantwortung dieser und weiterer Fragen helfen und startet ab 9.1. eine Info-Tour durch ganz Niederösterreich. Bereits im September wurden auf diesem Weg mehreren Tausend Kundinnen und Kunden beraten. Having just caught the Waldviertelbahn, the first stop is already called Sole Felsenbad in Gmünd. The journey then continues to the National Park in the Thayatal, to the bread baking course in Drosendorf, and finally to cool off in the Herrensee lido. That and much more is the Waldviertel.

#1 Arrive with the Waldviertel train

Full steam ahead on the bike! And up to the far north, board the Waldviertel train and embark on an unforgettable journey. While you experience a Journey through the "far north" of Lower Austria , you only have to do one thing - make yourself comfortable. Use the charming adventure railway to discover the Upper Waldviertel on narrow-gauge tracks during a day trip. Take in the enchanting areas between Gmünd, Groß Gerungs and Litschau .

#2 Sole Felsen Spa

The Sole-Felsen-Spa in Gmünd is probably one of the most popular visitor magnets in the Waldviertel! The bathing and sauna landscape , the fresh and salt water pools with Bad Ischl's healing brine, the waterfall, the adventure slide and the spring stone - all this raises the pulse of adult and especially younger guests. The thermal baths are located on the idyllic Aßang pond in Gmünd. In addition to the adventure pool and thermal baths, there are also beauty and wellness offers for the quieter hours. #3 Eating ice cream in Drosendorf

The ice cream in Drosendorf is by no means thin ice cream, but it is very delicious. The ice cream here comes in two variations - milk or vegan ! #4 Thayatal National Park with wild cats

If you had to describe the National Park Thayatal in four words, they would probably be "discover, marvel, relax, breathe deeply". Because in a place where nature is allowed to develop unrestrictedly, people also feel close to it again. The park with its diversity of animals and plants is made for family excursions and hiking tours. Just thinking about it gives you a warm, cosy feeling of security. Special extra: the national park is home to wild cats and elks , which serve as a special highlight.

#5 Learn to bake bread

Bake small rolls? No way! After attending the workshop of the first Waldviertel organic baking school in Drosendorf , you will bake breads larger than the earth's circumference. Well, leaving all the pathos aside, what remains at the end of the day is at least the knowledge of bread baking, a good dose of sourdough aroma in your nose and the experience of having felt and tasted ancient cereals. Can you manage that? We’re sure you can.

#6 Eating carp in the Hopferl

Restaurant, pub, brasserie, wine bar and above all one thing: AMA fun region ! There it is, or rather, it is part of it - the Hopferl town inn in Gmünd . In addition to all kinds of regional and seasoned home cooking, the Hopferl's menu includes carp. The Waldviertel organic carp fillet is then served naturally fried with parsley potatoes or baked with Waldviertel "peat salad". Well, if that doesn't sound altogether exquisite.

#7 Cooling off at Herrensee lido

The well-maintained Herrensee forest pool in Litschau offers plenty of opportunities for cooling down. An outdoor swimming pool and, of course, Herrensee itself form a wonderful unit of soothing wetness. In addition, there are many secluded spots where you can relax and let the Lord God be a good man. For children, there is also a paddling pool, the "Gatschkiste" directly by the lake and a large, shaded playground with climbing castle.

#8 Organic experience at the Hammerschmidt organic farm

Even if a French cheese advertisement would like to tell us cows can't smile! However, the creatures living at the Hammerschmidts' court are doing so well that, if you look closely, you will be tempted to change your mind. To get an overview of this bliss for yourself, you can take a seat in the shovel of the farm tractor and go for a spin around the farm . You'll soon realise that no two eggs here are alike, but the chicken and cow have one thing in common - happiness .

#9 Immerse yourself in the world of otters

The "UnterWasserReich" (UnderWaterWorld) , a nature experience centre in the Schrems High Moor Nature Park , lets little & big environmental noses sharpen their senses. Here you can gain insights into the mysterious world of water, the habitat of wetland biotopes and the richness of species in the local underwater world. In the research laboratory, children can even examine water samples they have taken themselves from ponds and streams for traces of life. As a special extra, metaphorically speaking, you can immerse yourself in the otter's natural habitat and watch it feed .

#10 Block Heath Nature Park

When one speaks of bizarre granite formations, quiet forests, temperate meadows and gentle heath landscapes, then one can only be talking about the Blockheide Nature Park in Gmünd . Let yourself be captivated by the bizarre wobbly & goblin stones and the species-rich cultural landscape that the park has in store for you. Insider tip:  Park your bike and enjoy this natural spectacle to the fullest at the observation tower at a height of 30 metres .

Nebelstein Panoramic Trail No. 24

At 1017 meters, the nebelstein has grand summit views and a great refreshment stop, making it perfect for fun hikes in the upper waldviertel.

The Nebelstein Panoramic Trail No. 24 (German: Nebelstein-Panoramaweg Nr. 24) is a popular route for recreational hiking and was certified with the Austrian quality mark for hiking in 2015. With an elevation gain of 366 meters and a length of about 9 kilometers, the trail takes, at most, 2.5 hours to walk.

Forests, imposing cliffs and hills dominate this region around Moorbad Hardbach. The countryside emanates tranquility and serenity. This panoramic route incorporates all facets of the great outdoors, with forest and meadow trails repeatedly giving way to rocky paths and moors. Wooden and granite benches stand by the wayside, inviting you to sit and linger for a while. The numerous rock formations, known in Austrian as “Restlinge”, offer kids a natural playground for playing hide-and-seek or just climbing around.

The highlight of the hike is the summit of the Nebelstein. An impressive rock formation typical of the Waldviertel stands here at a prominent spot, giving you a sweeping 360° view from 1,017 meters above sea level.

The panoramic mountain is especially popular in combination with a stop at the Nebelsteinhütte. This rustic alpine hut seems to be pressed in under a massive granite cliff and was the first hut to be built by the Alpine Club after World War II. Open from the beginning of April to the end of October, it serves delicacies and tasty Waldviertel treats and is the definition of “gemütlichkeit” (easy-going congeniality).

Active recreation figures large in this area. The Xundwärts Parcours in Hirschenwies is the departure point for the route and an ideal place to warm up and stretch. At the end of the hike, you can look forward to the Waldpension Nebelstein, a forest guest house with a delightful fairy-tale garden.

Waldviertelpur regional festival

A regional festival in Vienna normally means the opportunity to eat and drink copious quantities of local fare from one of Austria’s provinces. Which brings me to the Waldviertelpur festival…

The what-viertel?

The Waldviertel lies to the northwest of Vienna, about an hour’s drive away in the province of Lower Austria. It has a certain mystical quality to it, encouraged by harsh winters, moors, forests and distinctive boulder formations.

You could easily imagine the place has the odd ghostly hound wandering mournfully around the landscape.

The Viennese like to retreat there for the weekend, taking advantage of the relative peace and quiet, not to mention a host of delightful regional drinks and dishes.

Each year, however, the people of the Waldviertel move in the other direction, decamping to Vienna to present a three-day celebration of their traditions, tourism offers, handicrafts, music and (especially) culinary prowess at the Waldviertelpur festival.

We Viennese join them, pretending to share in the celebration of those traditions, tourism offers, handicrafts and music. But really to eat and drink (or maybe that’s just me).

The festival combines dozens of open-air booths with a programme of events, all showcasing the region’s wonders.

These booths are a healthy (or not, depending on how much – and what – you eat and drink there) mix of bakeries, breweries, butchers and food buffets, distilleries and vineyards, tourist attractions, fashion outlets, plus art and craft stalls.

The region enjoys particularly fame for its poppy seeds (German: Mohn ), so if you want to try something truly local, go for a poppy seed treat. They come in all sorts of forms, but mostly in baked products like the organic Mohnzelten pictured below.

Another popular option is Mohnnudeln : thick noodles made from potato dough and covered in a poppy seed sauce. So it looks like the plate is being savaged by a blackfly invasion (it tastes much better than my description).

The accompanying festival programme focuses on local music, with a strong folk flavour to it. But you might also catch, for example, craft demonstrations or a fashion show featuring Waldviertel Trachten (the traditional clothing familiar from films like the Sound of Music).

The festival makes a nice contrast to pounding city pavements, offering a short break from historical tours and dark coffee houses. Mind you, I was there on a Wednesday afternoon and it was packed (like I say, they do good beer).

2024 dates and tickets

The 2024 event runs from June 19th to 21st.

You don’t need a ticket to wander round: everything is open-air with free access.

How to get to the Waldviertelpur festival

You’ll likely wander into the Heldenplatz square site on your travels, and you pass it on my self-guided walking tour . If not, it’s close to a number of central subway stations and tram stops.

Subway: various stations are not far from Heldenplatz. For example, Herrengasse (U3), Stephansplatz (U1 and U3), Volkstheater (U2 and U3) and Museumsquartier (U2).

Tram/bus: the routes around the Ring take you there. For example, take the 1, 2, D or 71 lines to the Ring/Volkstheater or Burgring stops.

EVN sind wohl die drei Buchstaben, die zur Zeit am häufigsten in Niederösterreich gegoogelt werden. Grund dafür sind rund 300.000 Strom- und Gaskunden des Energieversorgers mit dem „Optima“-Tarif. Mit Ende Juni 2023 werden diese nämlich vonseiten des Energieriesen gekündigt. Deswegen veranstaltet die EVN eine Aufklärungstour. Die EVN-Info-Tour macht in 29 Gemeinden im Bezirk Halt – so auch in Marchegg, wo sich die EVN-Vertreter viel Kritik anhören mussten.

„Trotz Milliardenumsatzes und Millionengewinns bekommen es nun die Kunden zu spüren, die ohnehin schon schwer gebeutelten Bürger wurden erst gar nicht lange gefragt und vor vollendete Tatsachen gestellt“, echauffierte sich ein EVN-Kunde. „Friss oder stirb wird sich so mancher denken, wenn er sich das Schreiben, sofern er es überhaupt erhalten hat, gedacht haben“, ärgerte sich ein anderer Bürger. Großteils ältere Mitmenschen fühlen sich mit der momentanen Situation überfordert und allein gelassen.

Und so waren es auch gerade die Älteren, die die Möglichkeit, sich bei der EVN-Info-Tour beraten zu lassen, nutzten. Dort war man dann sehr höflich und hilfsbereit. Das Wirrwarr mit den alternativen Anbietern überfordert zudem einige EVN-Kunden, so dass die meisten Betroffenen doch das neue Angebot der EVN annahmen.

Des Weiteren verursachen undurchschaubare Jahresabrechnungen massiven Unmut bei den EVN-Kunden: „Wenn ich mir jetzt Autoreifen bestelle, brauche ich ja auch nicht zu wissen, wie viel jeder einzelne Bestandteil kostet und wie diese versteuert werden“, so ein weiterer verärgerter EVN-Kunde.

„Auch wird es mit der drohenden Stromabschaltung mit 1. Juli nichts werden, tausende Briefe wurde falsch oder gar nicht zugestellt, andere wieder hatten das Schreiben im Postkastl, ohne dafür die nötige Unterschrift geleistet zu haben, was wahrscheinlich ein Nachspiel für die Österreichische Post AG mit sich ziehen wird“, prophezeit ein anderer Marchegger.

EVN: „Die Tarife hätten sich nahezu verdoppelt“

Die NÖN konfrontierte EVN-Pressesprecher Stefan Zach mit der Kritik: „In den letzten Jahren kam die EVN mehreren Gerichtsentscheidungen nach, bei Preisänderungen ihrer Optima-Klassik-Tarife transparent vorzugehen, wodurch sie an den österreichischen Strom- und Gaspreisindizes gekoppelt wurden. Bedingt durch die aktuelle Energiekrise hätten sich diese Tarife mit 1. April nahezu verdoppelt. Das wollten wir unbedingt vermeiden. Wir wollen nun die langjährige gute Partnerschaft mit unseren Kunden erneuern.“

Und Zach ergänzt: „Der neue Tarif ist ein einjähriges Fixpreis-Angebot. Unsere Kunden profitieren von einer Preis-Stabilität über den nächsten Winter.“ Über 160.000 Kunden hätten das Angebot bereits angenommen: „Die Kunden müssen ihrem neuen Vertrag aber aktiv zustimmen.
